- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to The Daily Show. I'm Jordan Flapper. We got
- 0:02Speaker 1: so much to talk about tonight. Trump's running an ad
- 0:05Speaker 1: that's got liberals furious. Republicans are running an ad that
- 0:08Speaker 1: has conservatives furious. And a brand new passport program gives
- 0:12Speaker 1: you reason to smile. Or whatever horrible face you made
- 0:16Speaker 1: on your passport. So let's get into the headlines. Let's
- 0:24Speaker 1: kick things off with Donald Trump, 40-time winner of the
- 0:27Speaker 1: ongoing war with Iran. Now, today he launched a new
- 0:31Speaker 1: website called America.gov, which uses AI to answer questions you
- 0:36Speaker 1: have about the government. Questions like, why is Massachusetts so
- 0:41Speaker 1: hard to spell? Or, why no bulge on Lincoln Memorial? And,
- 0:47Speaker 1: how to solve crime, question mark, this not Kash Patel, BT-dubs.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But Trump didn't just launch an exciting new website today.
- 0:56Speaker 1: He also brought in his most exciting cabinet member, Marco Rubio,
- 1:01Speaker 1: to make his own exciting announcement.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Starting next year, Americans will be able to apply for
- 1:08Speaker 2: their first passport entirely online.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Why are you doing this like an Apple product launch?
- 1:24Speaker 1: And one more thing. This passport folds to the size
- 1:32Speaker 1: of a passport. But hey, you know what? When I'm wrong,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I admit it. The administration is really delivering on all
- 1:40Speaker 1: its promises. I mean, you remember the chants. Thank you
- 1:44Speaker 1: very much, Bob.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Online passport application!
- 1:47Speaker 1: Online passport application!
- 1:50Speaker 4: Online passport application!
- 1:54Speaker 1: Promises made, promises kept. But Marco had more surprises in
- 1:59Speaker 1: store because once you get that passport, it's gonna look
- 2:03Speaker 1: a little different.
- 2:04Speaker 2: The words United States of America are now exactly where
- 2:07Speaker 2: they belong. First, right on top. The eagle carries you
- 2:11Speaker 2: across 250 years of America.
- 2:14Speaker 1: You'd see it soar.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Watch the eagle as you flip through the pages.
- 2:18Speaker 5: It flies.
- 2:20Speaker 2: No, I think that's pretty good.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Oh, holy shit! This is going to totally blow the
- 2:28Speaker 1: minds of kids in 1928 who haven't seen Steamboat Willie. Wow! Extra,
- 2:34Speaker 1: extra moving pictures! Read all about it! But while Trump
- 2:38Speaker 1: is basking in the rollout of America's high-tech website and
- 2:42Speaker 1: 19th century tech passports, he's embroiled in yet another ethical controversy.
- 2:47Speaker 3: The Trump administration is facing some controversy after a new
- 2:50Speaker 3: White House ad campaign aired on CBS and other channels.
- 2:54Speaker 4: The TV spots say paid for by the U.S.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Government.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Critics say they look like campaign ads for the president.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Wow.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Okay, now that is messed up. The government shouldn't be
- 3:03Speaker 1: spending taxpayer dollars on campaign ads for President Trump. It
- 3:07Speaker 1: should be spending that money on figuring out how to
- 3:10Speaker 1: put water in the reflecting pool. Keep at it, boys.
- 3:15Speaker 1: We are close to cracking it.
- 3:16Speaker 3: We are.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You know what? Okay, the money has been spent. Let's
- 3:21Speaker 1: see what our sweet, sweet tax dollars are paying for.
- 3:25Speaker 1: This is the final battle. With you at my side,
- 3:28Speaker 1: we will demolish the deep state. We will expel the
- 3:31Speaker 1: warmongers from our government. We will drive out the globalists.
- 3:35Speaker 1: We will cast out the communists, Marxists, and fascists.
- 3:38Speaker 6: We will throw off the sick political class that hates
- 3:42Speaker 6: our country.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Weird. I... I have the exact same inner monologue when
- 3:48Speaker 1: I'm walking to the office bathroom. Very strange. And aside
- 3:54Speaker 1: from the legality of it, this ad is making some
- 3:56Speaker 1: questionable artistic choices. Look, if you want to film an
- 4:00Speaker 1: ad where it looks like Trump fired everyone from the
- 4:03Speaker 1: Jennifer Hudson spirit tunnel, fine. But why does it start
- 4:09Speaker 1: with a six-second close-up of a storage closet? I mean,
- 4:16Speaker 1: is that supposed to be a metaphor for where they're
- 4:19Speaker 1: going to lock up the deep state? Or is that, like,
- 4:21Speaker 1: is that the closet Stephen Miller sleeps in during the day?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Or is it just where they're storing the footage they
- 4:28Speaker 1: shot that doesn't have a f * * * ing
- 4:30Speaker 1: storage closet in it? The point is, spending taxpayer money
- 4:34Speaker 1: on a campaign ad is clearly indefensible. So, let's see
- 4:38Speaker 1: how the White House defensibles it.
- 4:41Speaker 6: But the administration rejects such a criticism. A White House
- 4:44Speaker 6: release declaring, the announcements are very clearly not campaign ads.
- 4:47Speaker 1: President Trump is not on the ballot, and there is
- 4:50Speaker 1: no call to action.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Right, right.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It can't be a campaign ad because Trump is not
- 4:55Speaker 1: even on the ballot. It's just, I feel like I
- 4:59Speaker 1: heard someone say something different. So I'm asking you to
- 5:05Speaker 1: pretend that I'm on the ballot. I'm on the ballot.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I'm on the ballot. He didn't just say it. He
- 5:12Speaker 1: said it three times in a row. He's trying to
- 5:15Speaker 1: Beetlejuice himself onto the ballot. But there is one other
- 5:19Speaker 1: thing that makes me think this is a campaign ad,
- 5:23Speaker 1: which is that this is literally a campaign ad they
- 5:26Speaker 1: ran two years ago. It's the exact same footage. And
- 5:32Speaker 1: you'd think even just to cover their ass, they would
- 5:35Speaker 1: film a new ad, unless they thought about it and
- 5:38Speaker 1: were like, you know, we can't do a new ad.
- 5:41Speaker 1: That shot of the storage closet is just too good,
- 5:44Speaker 1: you know? We're never gonna top it. I mean, if
- 5:48Speaker 1: you didn't, if you didn't want to film a whole
- 5:50Speaker 1: new ad, maybe there's a line you could think about cutting.
- 5:54Speaker 1: We will expel the warmongers from our government. Yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Yes. Yes.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yes. That warmongers line hits different in 2026, doesn't it?
- 6:07Speaker 1: Major O.J. Simpson looking for the real killer vibes on
- 6:10Speaker 1: that one. But let's move on to another TV commercial
- 6:14Speaker 1: that's stirring up a controversy. This one is definitely a
- 6:17Speaker 1: campaign ad, and it comes from the great state of.
- 6:21Speaker 1: It comes from the okay state of Arkansas.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Sarah Huckabee Sanders releases an ad attacking welfare, and MAGA
- 6:29Speaker 4: pundits are mad.
- 6:31Speaker 6: Meet Brad.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Brad has turned relaxing into a full-time profession. But you,
- 6:37Speaker 1: you actually work hard.
- 6:39Speaker 3: You pay taxes to cover welfare for guys like Brad
- 6:42Speaker 3: who just choose not to work.
- 6:44Speaker 5: What?
- 6:45Speaker 1: No, no, hold on here. Are we sure we want
- 6:48Speaker 1: this guy in the workforce? I don't want Dr. Brad
- 6:53Speaker 1: leaving cheese balls inside me after surgery, okay? Why are
- 6:57Speaker 1: MAGA pundits mad about this anti-welfare ad? Can we see
- 7:01Speaker 1: the rest of it?
- 7:02Speaker 7: That's why I launched a welfare-to-work requirement.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Almost there. Now, more Arkansans are working than ever before.
- 7:12Speaker 6: Even Brad.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Okay, okay, so the message is welfare cheats should get
- 7:21Speaker 1: a job. Now, I really don't see what conservatives are
- 7:26Speaker 1: upset about.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Daily Wire writer Matt Walsh saying Republicans don't have the
- 7:30Speaker 4: balls to do this ad with, quote, Shaniqua as the villain.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Okay, you know what? I think I'm beginning to see
- 7:40Speaker 1: it here, but go ahead, say more.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Another commentator accused Huckabee Sanders of having, quote, the audacity
- 7:46Speaker 4: to dishonestly mock young white men as welfare queens. And
- 7:50Speaker 4: one more says that the ad, quote, villainizes a white man.
- 7:53Speaker 7: We all know exactly what a stereotypical welfare recipient looks like.
- 7:59Speaker 5: Yes.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Exactly. Stereotypically speaking, you shouldn't show a white man on welfare.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You should show a white man who's a school shooter, okay?
- 8:10Speaker 1: That would be more appropriate. Do you guys have any
- 8:14Speaker 1: more constructive suggestions?
- 8:16Speaker 5: Well, what they should have done is they should have had,
- 8:19Speaker 5: you know, Brad next to, you know, I don't know,
- 8:23Speaker 5: LaQuisha or something, and then just, you know, put in
- 8:26Speaker 5: some other characters then, so, like, your equal opportunity offenders.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Okay, well, first of all, Brad's living in his parents' basement.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You think he can pull a babe like LaQuisha? Dream on.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And also, make the cast more diverse is such a
- 8:45Speaker 1: weird argument for this group. There should be a non-binary
- 8:49Speaker 1: person in a wheelchair represented there as well. Conservatives are
- 8:54Speaker 1: going to angry brainstorm themselves into making Hamilton 2. But obviously,
- 9:01Speaker 1: these guys weren't looking to improve anything. They were already
- 9:04Speaker 1: on their way to the pity party.
- 9:05Speaker 7: It's not a great time to be a strapping young
- 9:09Speaker 7: white dude in America. The white man has been systematically
- 9:12Speaker 7: discriminated against, locked out of jobs.
- 9:15Speaker 6: The only group in America that there's no taboo to
- 9:18Speaker 6: attack whatsoever is white men.
- 9:20Speaker 3: It is tone deaf.
- 9:21Speaker 6: It is disgraceful. This should be taken down, and there
- 9:24Speaker 6: should be an apology to the young white men in
- 9:28Speaker 6: this country.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Fair enough. To all the white men who saw a
- 9:34Speaker 1: clip of a guy in his basement contributing nothing to
- 9:37Speaker 1: society and you said, hey, stop making fun of me,
- 9:42Speaker 1: I'm very sorry. But look, I'm obviously not the guy
- 9:46Speaker 1: who needs to answer for this ad. But in the
- 9:49Speaker 1: interest of racial harmony, we managed to find the person
- 9:51Speaker 1: responsible for this controversy. So joining us now to talk
- 9:55Speaker 1: about Brad, please welcome Brad.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Oh, what's up, Jordan? Um, big fan of whatever your
- 10:06Speaker 3: thing is.
- 10:07Speaker 8: Okay.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Uh, thank you, Brad. But, I mean, wait. Why are
- 10:11Speaker 1: you back in your basement? I thought you got a job. Yeah, um,
- 10:15Speaker 1: I kind of lost it.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I was late to work one time by, like, four
- 10:20Speaker 3: or five weeks, and my boss got so mad.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Oh, oh, I mean, oh, Brad, I mean, come on, buddy.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I thought you got it together. I know, I know.
- 10:29Speaker 8: I got to do better.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Come on, Scorpion! Rip his freaking head off!
- 10:35Speaker 3: Hey, hey, Brad! Brad!
- 10:37Speaker 1: Brad! Oh, sorry.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I was talking to the game.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I know you were talking to the game.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Can we focus here? Because, look, you upset a lot
- 10:46Speaker 1: of conservatives, Brad. They want an apology.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Look, Jordan, this is all a big misunderstanding. Like when
- 10:52Speaker 3: my dumb boss thought I was jerking off in the
- 10:54Speaker 3: break room.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Brad, were you jerking off in the break room?
- 11:01Speaker 4: Of course not!
- 11:03Speaker 3: I jerked off in the bathroom!
- 11:06Speaker 1: I went to the break room to wash my hands! Yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 1: but you were already in the bathroom. You know, forget it.
- 11:14Speaker 1: What is this misunderstanding, then?
- 11:16Speaker 3: Jordan, you got to believe me.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I never meant to be a caricature of white people.
- 11:21Speaker 3: The intention here was to make me a caricature of
- 11:24Speaker 3: poor people. Lazy, sloppy, constantly eating cheese puffs. That's poor stuff,
- 11:36Speaker 3: not white stuff.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Brad, Brad, stop. Stop, Brad. They're not.
- 11:43Speaker 1: They're not... They're not going anywhere near your mouth, Brad.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Well, if I was good at it, I could get
- 11:49Speaker 3: a job doing it! The point is, I didn't mean
- 11:57Speaker 3: to upset anyone.
- 11:59Speaker 1: What do they want from me? Well, to be honest, they...
- 12:04Speaker 1: think you should be black.
- 12:06Speaker 3: You don't think I've tried? Halloween after Halloween? But then
- 12:12Speaker 3: other people get even more mad at me?
- 12:15Speaker 1: Brad, look, you got to educate yourself. There's a whole
- 12:17Speaker 1: racial history. Hey, stop trying to pick your nose with
- 12:23Speaker 1: the grabber. You're on TV, you idiot. I don't want
- 12:25Speaker 1: to be.
- 12:26Speaker 8: I want to stay here in my basement where it's safe.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Can't Brad just be Brad? Taking your tax dollars and
- 12:36Speaker 3: playing Mortal Kombat 2 in the post-doc clarity between jerk-offs.
- 12:41Speaker 1: See, even this, this is what those right-wing podcasters are
- 12:45Speaker 1: upset about. They think you're a caricature of them. No way.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Those guys are so cool.
- 12:52Speaker 8: I'm nothing like them.
- 12:54Speaker 3: All I do is just sit on my ass all day.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's kind of like that.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Well, all I do is shout at my TV.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Yeah, again. That's a lot like that.
- 13:06Speaker 3: But I'm afraid of change.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, well, we get it. We get it.
- 13:09Speaker 3: And I don't look good in a suit, and I
- 13:12Speaker 3: smell weird.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Stop making parallels, Brad. Look, you know what? I think
- 13:16Speaker 1: this interview was a mistake. Is there anything else you
- 13:19Speaker 1: want to say before you go?
- 13:20Speaker 3: Not really.
- 13:22Speaker 8: Well, I mean, I guess I would point out that
- 13:25Speaker 8: Republican leaders have let their base push them so far
- 13:29Speaker 8: to the racist all right that even Sarah Huckabee Sanders
- 13:32Speaker 8: is too woke for them. And I would warn my
- 13:35Speaker 8: fellow white dudes that in this critique, they've adopted the
- 13:39Speaker 8: very same race-based identity politics they were decrying just years before.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Wow. Brian.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Brian.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You know what? That's a pretty sophisticated reading of all
- 13:57Speaker 1: of this. You might be more mature than I thought.
- 14:00Speaker 8: Thank you, Jordan.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Now, may I please use your break room to.
- 14:04Speaker 8: Wash my hands?
- 14:04Speaker 1: Absolutely not. No way. Brad from his basement, everybody.
