- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, what a boxing fans. This is the rope Endope
- 0:05Speaker 1: Radio podcast. I'm your host, Chris Carlson. We are live
- 0:08Speaker 1: on a Tuesday night. I hope everybody's doing okay, man,
- 0:13Speaker 1: do we have some things to talk about on the
- 0:16Speaker 1: show tonight? Lamont Roach. I tried to say, Hey, I
- 0:19Speaker 1: didn't call for the upset. Okay, I didn't put money
- 0:23Speaker 1: on the draw. Should have? Should have? I did not
- 0:26Speaker 1: do that, but I did say multiple times that Lamont
- 0:31Speaker 1: Roach is being undervalued in this fight. Now, did I
- 0:36Speaker 1: think it was gonna be a draw or seven of five? Guy? No,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I didn't. Did I think it'd be competitive for the
- 0:43Speaker 1: first six rounds and then you know, Tank takes over. Yes,
- 0:47Speaker 1: that that's what I kind of thought and kind of flipped. Actually,
- 0:51Speaker 1: Tank did pretty good early, well not that early. It
- 0:56Speaker 1: took a while to warm up anyway. But yeah, obviously,
- 0:59Speaker 1: you know, a knockdown that was in the process of
- 1:03Speaker 1: being counted, that stop the count, and then it was like, hey,
- 1:08Speaker 1: what are you doing? Yeah, we're wondering what you're doing, referee.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Why haven't you counted to eight? Sir? You were already counting.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Don't know why that would change it. In the commission.
- 1:22Speaker 1: We've heard a variety of things. We've heard, you know,
- 1:25Speaker 1: technical issues with the video and you only have a
- 1:28Speaker 1: certain amount of time to check the replay. When you
- 1:31Speaker 1: have replay right and you have something like that, that's
- 1:35Speaker 1: just easy, that's simple. But it's been all over the place,
- 1:41Speaker 1: you know, it's been really all over the place. Now
- 1:44Speaker 1: are they going to go in there and change the scorecards?
- 1:50Speaker 1: That would be a surprise to me. This is not
- 1:52Speaker 1: a PD thing. This is not a cocan cocaine, This
- 1:56Speaker 1: is not a coke meth. You want to say, this
- 2:01Speaker 1: isn't this isn't that. So we'll see how this goes.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I just hope there's a rematch. That's really all I hope.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Gervante kind of sounded like he was gonna fight Jake
- 2:13Speaker 1: Ball there for a second. Next maybe he was gonna
- 2:16Speaker 1: take that Netflix date. You know, Cruz was there and
- 2:21Speaker 1: he did go. I think he went into Gervante's locker room.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I don't know. Anyway, we're gonna talk about the whole card.
- 2:32Speaker 1: The Sandor Martin and Alberto Playu actually started out a
- 2:38Speaker 1: lot better than I thought, and overall it was it
- 2:41Speaker 1: was pretty it was good. It was good. It was competitive,
- 2:44Speaker 1: but it was it was good. It wasn't there. It's
- 2:47Speaker 1: funny because it started out really well, kind of got
- 2:50Speaker 1: that in between in the middle where it was kind
- 2:52Speaker 1: of like, eh, not so much, and then all of
- 2:55Speaker 1: a sudden it got better. So yeah, it was it
- 2:57Speaker 1: was good. It was good. Anyway, we're gonna get into
- 3:01Speaker 1: it and we're gonna talk a little bit about, you know,
- 3:06Speaker 1: the league potentially thing that we're going to talk about
- 3:09Speaker 1: the tournament, the WBC tournament. So yeah, we're gonna talk about,
- 3:17Speaker 1: you know, some current fight news and whatnot. They did
- 3:20Speaker 1: have a presser in New York City today for that
- 3:26Speaker 1: event with you know, Ryan Garcia Devin their opponents. The
- 3:34Speaker 1: fight I'm really looking forward to is Stalo Fema Lopez
- 3:38Speaker 1: and you know Barbosa Lopez. That's what I'm looking forward to.
- 3:42Speaker 1: That's that's that's a worthy fight. The other two not
- 3:47Speaker 1: so much anyway, by the way, lackluster from what I saw.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I didn't see the whole presser from when I saw,
- 3:55Speaker 1: not so much. I do want to give my thoughts
- 3:58Speaker 1: later in the show on the Times Square location as well. Okay,
- 4:05Speaker 1: because we have been critical of the exposure or lack
- 4:11Speaker 1: thereof of the Saudis in America. Okay, that's all I
- 4:17Speaker 1: can really account for. So, you know, I gotta I
- 4:23Speaker 1: like the outside of the box in a sense. So anyway,
- 4:27Speaker 1: if this is your first time listening to the rope

- 6:10Speaker 1: so in a short amount of time, I'm gonna have
- 6:16Speaker 1: my guy uh John on Okay, so he should be
- 6:21Speaker 1: joining us here in just a second. Kind of breaking
- 6:25Speaker 1: down some of this stuff, I thought that it was
- 6:33Speaker 1: a weird start. Man. You did see Roach stepping two tank,
- 6:42Speaker 1: but not really landing a whole lot right away. Neither
- 6:45Speaker 1: were obviously, but the one maybe two decent shots that
- 6:50Speaker 1: the first round to me is kind of up in
- 6:52Speaker 1: the air. I did give Davis the second round. I
- 6:59Speaker 1: thought the body shots were kind of the difference. It
- 7:02Speaker 1: was a slow round. Roach landed a nice left uh
- 7:06Speaker 1: to the head as well, So either way. I gave
- 7:09Speaker 1: Roach the third round for sure, that was his best
- 7:12Speaker 1: round as far as landing the jab a few decent lands,
- 7:15Speaker 1: where Davis was mostly you know, attacking the body at
- 7:19Speaker 1: that point. I thought the fourth one round was close.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You had some left hands a few late, and then
- 7:26Speaker 1: you know a couple of you know, landed shots as
- 7:31Speaker 1: well that were pretty solid from Roach, and Davis actually
- 7:38Speaker 1: got caught. Looked like after he was looking at the
- 7:41Speaker 1: at the ref. I'll say this before we'll stop. Right
- 7:44Speaker 1: at the fourth round, I gave it to Davis, but
- 7:47Speaker 1: that could have stolen the round for Roach. Clearly Davis
- 7:53Speaker 1: was not focused. Gravante was not focused in this fight mentally,
- 7:58Speaker 1: he was not there. Him and Calvin clearly have some
- 8:03Speaker 1: stuff going on. He was getting really frustrated. But I
- 8:08Speaker 1: guess both of them. You know, I knew there was something,
- 8:12Speaker 1: even though it's a dumb excuse, right, and it's your
- 8:15Speaker 1: own fault if in fact, some you know, some grease
- 8:17Speaker 1: was going in the eye. But I knew there was
- 8:19Speaker 1: something going on obviously, because you know, he's like doing
- 8:23Speaker 1: the thing to his head and he's like do it
- 8:25Speaker 1: like this, and they're they're they're having issues. You know,
- 8:27Speaker 1: so the corner was kind of funky. I don't think
- 8:30Speaker 1: even down the stretch they did say, hey, Gravant that
- 8:33Speaker 1: we need you know, these next three, but I still
- 8:35Speaker 1: don't think the urgency was there. And regardless of the corner,
- 8:39Speaker 1: the fighter did not have enough urgency. And you know,
- 8:47Speaker 1: maybe if they actually counted the knockdown as an official knockdown,
- 8:52Speaker 1: maybe that would have woke them up even more, or
- 8:56Speaker 1: woke them up to where he'd finish all those three
- 9:00Speaker 1: rounds to close. I don't know, but I would say
- 9:04Speaker 1: one of the most you know, non focused outings we've
- 9:08Speaker 1: seen from him in a long time. And that's no
- 9:12Speaker 1: shade against Roach. I gave Roach the fifth. I thought
- 9:17Speaker 1: Davis was winning, but some really nice right hands in
- 9:24Speaker 1: a late hook by Roach probably stole the round. By
- 9:29Speaker 1: this time, it was getting real kind of you know,
- 9:32Speaker 1: they were dicing it up. It was getting a little dicey,
- 9:35Speaker 1: uh in the inside, get a little dirty on both sides.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I did like see any time year going against the
- 9:40Speaker 1: A fighter. I really liked what Roach brought defensively. I
- 9:44Speaker 1: did think he needed to move his hands a little
- 9:46Speaker 1: bit more, especially in the beginning to win those early
- 9:50Speaker 1: rounds clearly, but overall I loved it.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Was like, all right, you're.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Gonna hit me, I'll hit you, you know, like he
- 9:57Speaker 1: wasn't gonna wait around for the ref. And I really
- 10:02Speaker 1: loved how he you know, even that moment where he,
- 10:05Speaker 1: you know, Geronte hit him with his shoulder and he
- 10:08Speaker 1: hit him back with I think a right hug. He's like,
- 10:10Speaker 1: all right, dude, we can go tip for tag, it
- 10:12Speaker 1: doesn't matter. I really loved that from Roach. Some people
- 10:17Speaker 1: say that's dirty. Nah, dude, Like if the rest not
- 10:20Speaker 1: calling it and it's happening to you, and he's gonna
- 10:23Speaker 1: take these little like the and I don't even mind
- 10:26Speaker 1: the free hand stuff. If you're tied up and there's
- 10:28Speaker 1: a free hand, it's a free hand, dude. I love
- 10:31Speaker 1: refs that say free hand work out and then yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 1: if they're not doing much, then sure break it up.
- 10:37Speaker 1: But I really liked that. I was really it that
- 10:40Speaker 1: that really did it for me with Roach. Then I
- 10:43Speaker 1: gave the sixth round. I thought the body work in
- 10:46Speaker 1: the left hand to the head did it for Davis.
- 10:50Speaker 1: The seventh round was close early and late. He was
- 10:53Speaker 1: getting to the body in head, but there was like
- 10:56Speaker 1: three or four hooks in a row beyond like a
- 11:00Speaker 1: jab and a right hand. Those three or four hooks
- 11:03Speaker 1: that landed, landed and then landed, that could have taken
- 11:06Speaker 1: the round right there. It was close, and in fact
- 11:09Speaker 1: that was sixteen to twelve. I wrote it down because
- 11:12Speaker 1: I think that was the first time he was it
- 11:15Speaker 1: the first time he got to double digits. I can't remember,
- 11:18Speaker 1: but that seventh round could have went to Roach. I
- 11:20Speaker 1: thought Davis was doing the early and late, but in
- 11:23Speaker 1: the middle maybe those three or four hooks won it
- 11:25Speaker 1: for him. I gave the eighth round, very close round
- 11:29Speaker 1: to Roach. I thought he got it, was getting the
- 11:31Speaker 1: better of him in the exchange. Is a few good ones,
- 11:33Speaker 1: especially late in that round there was a late right hand.
- 11:36Speaker 1: The ninth I gave to Davis. Well, I didn't give
- 11:40Speaker 1: it to Davis, obviously, I gave it to him, but
- 11:44Speaker 1: I you know, I don't think you should have. He
- 11:47Speaker 1: was laying some finally let up some two punch combos.
- 11:50Speaker 1: But I even wrote down there's something in his eye
- 11:54Speaker 1: or something's going on, because he went you know, obviously
- 11:57Speaker 1: that's supposed to be a knockdown, right, He took a
- 11:59Speaker 1: knee and he even admitted it later. Like I said,
- 12:03Speaker 1: he used a goofy excuse, but he did admit, Hey,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I took a knee, so he knew what he was doing.
- 12:08Speaker 1: But it's like and his reasoning was, and this is
- 12:13Speaker 1: his reasoning. He said, you know, like I, it's better
- 12:18Speaker 1: to take a knee and take your knockdown like that
- 12:22Speaker 1: rather than get caught with something with my eyes are
- 12:24Speaker 1: burning and I can't see. And you know, I did
- 12:27Speaker 1: see people reference Muhammad Ali with the lemon water, you know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: the lemon in the water or whatever it was. That
- 12:33Speaker 1: I believe that's what it was that he said his
- 12:37Speaker 1: eyes were burning. And remember when he came to the corner,
- 12:41Speaker 1: he was ready to quit, and his trainer, Dundee Sa knew, no, sir,
- 12:49Speaker 1: we're not cutting the gloves. And didn't he say something
- 12:52Speaker 1: like that. If I recall, sometimes I recall wrong. But
- 12:55Speaker 1: I thought he said cut my gloves or something like
- 12:57Speaker 1: I can't see. I can't see. And so I'm not
- 13:00Speaker 1: saying he would have quit for sure. I'm just saying, like,
- 13:03Speaker 1: you know, he was close to like saying, dude, I
- 13:06Speaker 1: can't see, but and maybe taking a knee in that scenarre,
- 13:10Speaker 1: it would have help. But the thing is, you can't
- 13:12Speaker 1: get help. There's no timeouts. But there was this weekend
- 13:16Speaker 1: in New York. Barklays all right. Tenth round. Roach gave
- 13:21Speaker 1: it to Roach. Jab right hooks, little left hook action,
- 13:25Speaker 1: these quick little combos. Now, Davis did land his left
- 13:30Speaker 1: hand to the head and body two, but it was close.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I gave it to Roach. I gave the eleventh to Roach.
- 13:36Speaker 1: You know, Davis had some good stuff early and late,
- 13:39Speaker 1: but the short shots on the inside I like that better,
- 13:44Speaker 1: and I wrote down, Davis is not mentally in this fight.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Kelvin and him even messing around with a towel, he's
- 13:52Speaker 1: showing him how to do it, and he's you know,
- 13:54Speaker 1: he's not he's looking in the corner. When he was
- 13:57Speaker 1: he was like looking at someone in the crowd. When
- 13:59Speaker 1: he was fighting, he was looking at somebody. When you're winning,
- 14:03Speaker 1: clearly that's not a big deal. But when you're in
- 14:07Speaker 1: a tight fight, dude, tighten up.
- 14:09Speaker 2: You know.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It looked like he was looking for one shot at
- 14:11Speaker 1: a time, basically. And they were talking the whole time too,
- 14:15Speaker 1: by the way, talking the whole fight. The twelfth round
- 14:19Speaker 1: I thought was very competitive, But the hooks I think
- 14:22Speaker 1: they're left hooks. I think both hands in the right hand,
- 14:25Speaker 1: that right hook started coming to and to me, it
- 14:31Speaker 1: felt like near the end Davis thought he had it.
- 14:35Speaker 1: That's what it looked like. He was fighting that way.
- 14:38Speaker 1: So honestly, I would have had it in a draw
- 14:41Speaker 1: seven to five, either guy, whatever, But like, I don't know,
- 14:46Speaker 1: to me, it looked like that. You know when you
- 14:49Speaker 1: look at the coffee Marx, you look at everything. It's
- 14:51Speaker 1: like to me, he was really you know, he always
- 14:56Speaker 1: starts slow, but then he'll pick it up and pick
- 14:59Speaker 1: it up and pick it up, and then really pick
- 15:02Speaker 1: it up, and not eighty punches around pick it up,
- 15:05Speaker 1: but pick it up. And he just never picked it
- 15:08Speaker 1: up all the way in the counters, the exchanges. He
- 15:15Speaker 1: was doing this thing Roach as well. I would have
- 15:19Speaker 1: liked to see a little bit more out of Roach
- 15:21Speaker 1: early in that fight, but because like I said, Givante
- 15:27Speaker 1: generally doesn't do a whole lot in those rounds, so
- 15:31Speaker 1: you gotta win him clearly, and I think maybe if
- 15:34Speaker 1: that's the one thing you could talk about, it's like
- 15:37Speaker 1: he could have started a little bit better, because like
- 15:39Speaker 1: I said, you know that, you know, Gravonte's not gonna
- 15:45Speaker 1: So it did kind of look like, Okay, Javonte's actually
- 15:48Speaker 1: got this fight a little earlier. He's doing pretty good,
- 15:51Speaker 1: and then it kind of fell off and down the
- 15:53Speaker 1: stretch he just didn't No, man, it just wasn't there.
- 15:59Speaker 1: He just I don't know. Some people, I've seen multiple
- 16:03Speaker 1: people say, hey, you know, now that he's thirty, he's
- 16:06Speaker 1: not a big dude, maybe it's falling off, you know.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I don't know, but yeah, if you look at it,
- 16:14Speaker 1: punches twelve, these are just punches, not land is just
- 16:17Speaker 1: thrown first round twelve, twelve, twenty four, that's when he
- 16:23Speaker 1: started picking up twenty seventeen, then twenty four, twenty eight,
- 16:27Speaker 1: twenty twenty nine, twenty two, forty two in the eleventh,
- 16:32Speaker 1: Which that's why I think that one's that could have
- 16:35Speaker 1: went either way. It just it just felt like, I
- 16:38Speaker 1: don't know, he never really turned it all the way overall,
- 16:43Speaker 1: Roach did land one twelve to one oh three, and
- 16:46Speaker 1: he out threw them four hundred to two seventy nine.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Now a higher percentage was landed, no doubt, but not
- 16:55Speaker 1: that much. Thirty you know, almost thirty seven twenty eight
- 17:00Speaker 1: is still pretty good. Didn't really mess with the jab,
- 17:05Speaker 1: I guess he was, you know, maybe he thought he'd
- 17:08Speaker 1: get countered, and I would have liked to see a
- 17:11Speaker 1: little bit more jabs out of roach and even me
- 17:14Speaker 1: saying he should have started faster and all that. You know,
- 17:17Speaker 1: when you're in there with a puncher, I understand that year.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You know what I mean, It just it. I can't
- 17:24Speaker 1: wait to see the rematch, to be honest with you.
- 17:27Speaker 1: And then body shots were fifty to thirty two, so
- 17:33Speaker 1: you know, and like I said, when you start to
- 17:34Speaker 1: look at you know, cruise, when he went the distance
- 17:39Speaker 1: like he was still I don't know, It's like once
- 17:42Speaker 1: there was some rounds where he didn't throw as much,
- 17:44Speaker 1: but others where he did. You know, if you look
- 17:47Speaker 1: at the last chunk of fights, I don't know. I'm
- 17:51Speaker 1: looking at the copy box number and sees like once
- 17:53Speaker 1: he turns it on, he usually just I guess you
- 17:58Speaker 1: could say, kind of keeps it on, you know. So
- 18:02Speaker 1: I don't know, I just I don't think he was
- 18:08Speaker 1: even the Frank Martin fite. I'm looking at it right now,
- 18:10Speaker 1: twenty four, twenty seven, thirty seven, Like once you can
- 18:14Speaker 1: have the slow start, but then it seemed like he
- 18:17Speaker 1: slowed back down again, and that's where I was like, hmm,
- 18:22Speaker 1: you know, now, obviously you know the commission stuff. You
- 18:29Speaker 1: know that that shit's crazy. You know the fact that
- 18:35Speaker 1: you know they couldn't figure that out, And I got
- 18:39Speaker 1: I'm actually reading this off brunch boxing headline from Matthew Brown.
- 18:46Speaker 1: New York State Athletic Commission under fire after bullshit statements
- 18:49Speaker 1: surrounding controversial right controversial tankroacht and so the they announced
- 18:59Speaker 1: that it is they're reviewing the controversial sequence in which
- 19:03Speaker 1: Davis you know, did that and Steve Willis just didn't
- 19:06Speaker 1: do anything. However, a source with the first hand knowledge
- 19:13Speaker 1: of the situation is forcunately pushed back against the Commission's explanation,
- 19:17Speaker 1: calling it outright bullshit. An official statement released on Monday,
- 19:24Speaker 1: the Commission claimed that technical difficulties prevented them from reviewing
- 19:29Speaker 1: the footage in time to make the ruling. So there
- 19:32Speaker 1: is a time that you have after it happens to rule,
- 19:37Speaker 1: you know, to rule now you can let the round
- 19:41Speaker 1: play out and then maybe take an extra time in there.
- 19:45Speaker 1: At this time, New York State Commission is reviewing the
- 19:48Speaker 1: matter during the round and question following the Commission's request
- 19:52Speaker 1: for the replay video, there was a technical issue preventing
- 19:55Speaker 1: the Commission from receiving it with the allotted time for review. Therefore,
- 20:01Speaker 1: the referee inering decision was relied upon right. The Commission
- 20:06Speaker 1: further stated, it remains you know, dedicated, preserving you know,
- 20:11Speaker 1: integrity and can pay all that good stuff right. However,
- 20:16Speaker 1: sources tell brunch Boxing that their version of the events
- 20:20Speaker 1: is far from the truth. They say, that's bullshit, that's
- 20:23Speaker 1: not how it went down, and you know. According to
- 20:27Speaker 1: their own guidelines, instant replay is allowed when adequate technology
- 20:32Speaker 1: is available, specifically, if you can determine whether an event
- 20:36Speaker 1: or when an event was a knockdown or a slip
- 20:40Speaker 1: or an injury, whatever, right, Instant replay may be used
- 20:44Speaker 1: to determine the correct outcome of about including knockdowns. The
- 20:48Speaker 1: in ring referee an instant replay official is the only
- 20:52Speaker 1: one authorized to initiate a review to modify the original call.
- 20:57Speaker 1: The referee and replay official must both agree that the
- 21:01Speaker 1: replay provides clear and conclusive evidence. Best efforts must be
- 21:06Speaker 1: made in complete to complete the review during the one
- 21:11Speaker 1: minute rest period, with an additional thirty seconds. So you
- 21:16Speaker 1: got the rest and then you got thirty seconds. The
- 21:19Speaker 1: sources say there was no technical issue preventing the replay.
- 21:22Speaker 1: In fact, the video sequence was prepared almost immediately. According
- 21:26Speaker 1: to the source, Within ten seconds of the instant, four
- 21:31Speaker 1: different angles of the replay were queued up and ready
- 21:34Speaker 1: for review. The replay official had access to the footage
- 21:38Speaker 1: well before the tenth round begame. According to the source,
- 21:43Speaker 1: we got what we needed. Yeah, not a knockdown, wasn't
- 21:46Speaker 1: a punch. So just to fill you in on some
- 21:49Speaker 1: of that stuff, I'm gonna go ahead and bring in
- 21:53Speaker 1: John to the oops. John to the fold here, alrighty,
- 22:01Speaker 1: So John's gonna be uh joining us very shortly. He's
- 22:07Speaker 1: coming into the feed. Hey, John, how you doing good?
- 22:15Speaker 1: Doing all right?
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yeah, keeping up speaking, keeping up with all the action and.
- 22:22Speaker 1: The outside the ring. We will say outside.
- 22:26Speaker 2: And of course want to say controversy, but I'm gonna
- 22:32Speaker 2: say partially before we get into it all, probably some
- 22:36Speaker 2: somewhat overblown controversy.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yeah, no, yeah, that is that's fair. I mean, it's
- 22:44Speaker 1: we're gonna talk all about that because that's there's a
- 22:49Speaker 1: short term memory, right people haven't I don't know if
- 22:53Speaker 1: it's like the legalization thing with with weed.
- 22:57Speaker 2: You know, the short term got the legalization.
- 23:01Speaker 1: So yeah, I got a short term. I got a
- 23:03Speaker 1: good long memory. My short term is pretty good. I
- 23:06Speaker 1: do part take from time to time. But uh, you
- 23:10Speaker 1: know it's I don't know, sometimes just it is that like, uh,
- 23:15Speaker 1: it's just that, you know, engagement. It just feels a
- 23:18Speaker 1: lot of engagement driven.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Yeah, you know that.
- 23:22Speaker 1: That's what a lot of this stuff like we always say,
- 23:24Speaker 1: people screaming, robbery and all that, right, right, all that
- 23:27Speaker 1: kind of for no great reason.
- 23:29Speaker 2: And you know, again before getting into it, I mean
- 23:32Speaker 2: because this is all sports now, it's it just popped
- 23:35Speaker 2: up this in boxing, but it annoys me in the NFL,
- 23:39Speaker 2: it annoys me in f MLB. There's no easier target
- 23:44Speaker 2: or low hanging fruit than that. Frankly, is not controversial
- 23:48Speaker 2: then attacking referees boxing in football, umpires in baseball not
- 23:56Speaker 2: meaning that there's not all kinds of mistakes. But that's
- 23:59Speaker 2: not that's not a controversial, gutsy take, right. Troy Aikman
- 24:04Speaker 2: won't criticize. I used to like him a lot, but
- 24:07Speaker 2: he's kind of gotten stale to me, Like, yeah, he
- 24:10Speaker 2: hasn't kind of he has gotten stale yet, like there'll
- 24:13Speaker 2: be no criticism of the NFL or or any players
- 24:17Speaker 2: or anything. But a ref blows the call, you know,
- 24:20Speaker 2: it'll yeah, the outrage and.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Have a job.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you should have a job, exactly, you should have
- 24:27Speaker 2: a job. That stuff I don't have any tolerance for.
- 24:31Speaker 2: And the idea that that that's a controversial, gutsy take
- 24:34Speaker 2: always makes me laugh.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Well, you know it's funny, and we're old enough to
- 24:39Speaker 1: know that a lot of this stuff you'd wake up
- 24:43Speaker 1: in the morning and you'd read the sports pade John
- 24:46Speaker 1: and you go through the box score, and that's how
- 24:50Speaker 1: you kept up with stuff. It wasn't nashally televised a
- 24:52Speaker 1: lot of these sports.
- 24:56Speaker 2: You know, nobody was a bigger newspaper reader than me
- 25:00Speaker 2: throughout the printed.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Avilage football, I mean, you name it. You know, it's
- 25:06Speaker 1: that's how you kept up. And so you didn't see
- 25:08Speaker 1: this shit. You didn't see you know, someone had to
- 25:11Speaker 1: tell you about a bad call or something like that.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, it's like there's somewhere in between that
- 25:18Speaker 1: that we have to get to that I don't think
- 25:20Speaker 1: there's much hope.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Well, you got to have like and doesn't mean it
- 25:24Speaker 2: was always perfect, and sure you can always have corruption
- 25:27Speaker 2: and things that goes to all errors. Don't get me wrong,
- 25:29Speaker 2: but this is throughout society sports, and it wasn't as
- 25:35Speaker 2: much to me in the news realm, but now it's
- 25:37Speaker 2: gotten there, like it's it's where if you don't at
- 25:42Speaker 2: least try to follow a code of ethics, it's a problem.
- 25:48Speaker 2: You know that that's becoming a big problem with a
- 25:50Speaker 2: lot of things. It doesn't mean people are always going
- 25:52Speaker 2: to follow it or it's perfect or anything, but what
- 25:54Speaker 2: I'm getting to is right, you know, like then you're
- 25:58Speaker 2: you know, in a pastime at least your your journalistic
- 26:02Speaker 2: ethics would would cause you to, like you said, if
- 26:04Speaker 2: you pick up that paper, somebody's got to have you know,
- 26:07Speaker 2: you know, has to have a a gutsy take or
- 26:11Speaker 2: report on something. Yeah, because it's just their standard as
- 26:15Speaker 2: a sports journalist or a news journalist. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 26:21Speaker 2: you know, you know, now you have people all the time,
- 26:23Speaker 2: and it doesn't mean there aren't things that are better.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Now I'm not one of those kind of people, but
- 26:27Speaker 2: but you have like people just simply say again in
- 26:31Speaker 2: all realms, well look how much money they make by
- 26:35Speaker 2: you know, whether it be sucking up to Turkey ala
- 26:38Speaker 2: Chic or the NFL or Donald you know, Donald Trump
- 26:43Speaker 2: or or whatever. Why would Why wouldn't they do it?
- 26:46Speaker 2: And it's kind of like, well, you know, maybe if
- 26:48Speaker 2: you just had like a little bit of ethics with
- 26:51Speaker 2: your job, you know, maybe they wouldn't do it.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there used to be even if the line was imaginary, John,
- 26:59Speaker 1: there was still some line there right still aligne. Yeah,
- 27:04Speaker 1: you crossed it. It was like, now, hold on, you know,
- 27:08Speaker 1: let's let's talk. You know, I don't know, it's just
- 27:12Speaker 1: uh yeah, it's gone downhill in many ways, but let's
- 27:17Speaker 1: get to the car itself. Obviously, might as we'll stop
- 27:21Speaker 1: right at you know, start right at the top and
- 27:25Speaker 1: you know, break down the fight. It took a little
- 27:28Speaker 1: while obviously to get going. I would have liked to
- 27:31Speaker 1: see Roach move his hands a little bit more early,
- 27:33Speaker 1: because that's when you get up on uh you know,
- 27:36Speaker 1: generally speaking, that's when you get up on the cars
- 27:38Speaker 1: with Gervonte. So he wasn't necessarily winning him cleanly enough.
- 27:45Speaker 1: But Gravante was in his first three round mode where
- 27:48Speaker 1: he wasn't doing or at least first two where he
- 27:51Speaker 1: wasn't doing anything, and That's the thing though. If he
- 27:55Speaker 1: does land two clean bunches, you're like, that may have
- 27:58Speaker 1: won the round. I don't know, you didn't move. It's
- 28:00Speaker 1: kind of weird like that. But you know, once he
- 28:04Speaker 1: got going, then it looked like, okay, here's yvante. And
- 28:07Speaker 1: then down the stretch of the fight, I do have
- 28:10Speaker 1: to say this is the most un He was very unfold.
- 28:16Speaker 1: He was not focused in there, and he was not
- 28:19Speaker 1: disciplined in there, and that's something that we see a
- 28:22Speaker 1: lot of from him in these fights. And it does
- 28:25Speaker 1: feel like once he turns the tide, the punch rate
- 28:28Speaker 1: tends to go up and stay up. Now it doesn't
- 28:31Speaker 1: go way up, but it goes you know, doubles or whatever.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Maybe it's thirty eight thrown or something rather than seventeen
- 28:37Speaker 1: or whatever. But take me through the fight, take me
- 28:41Speaker 1: through your scorecard. And then obviously, you know, we both
- 28:45Speaker 1: assume it's a ridiculous call, not that when you're in
- 28:48Speaker 1: the middle of a count, of course you're going to
- 28:50Speaker 1: keep counting. You know, he took a knee, you were counting.
- 28:54Speaker 1: What stopped the count? You know all that, we're not
- 28:56Speaker 1: saying it's not crazy, it's not bad but we're just
- 28:59Speaker 1: trying to keep it in perspect exactly.
- 29:01Speaker 2: No, I mean, let's make that clear. I mean that
- 29:06Speaker 2: was a bad call. Not calling that a knockdown. I'm
- 29:10Speaker 2: just stating like like I put the example up there,
- 29:13Speaker 2: and it wasn't like a what aboutism, It's just that,
- 29:16Speaker 2: like you said, let's let's keep perspective, like there was
- 29:19Speaker 2: immediately this this kind of outrage or fall outrage of
- 29:25Speaker 2: like we've never seen this before. Well, Usik's been calling
- 29:29Speaker 2: his own low blows at least since the Gassy I
- 29:32Speaker 2: fight and getting away from it. And I put that
- 29:34Speaker 2: out there, and some people, to their credit, did pick
- 29:37Speaker 2: up on it and even pulled out some of the
- 29:39Speaker 2: clips which were clear, and you know, he got away
- 29:43Speaker 2: with it. And then you know, and I want.
- 29:45Speaker 3: You to repeat that, called his own right, all right,
- 29:51Speaker 3: you know, stop fighting, call fighting, stop fighting, completely stopped fighting.
- 29:55Speaker 2: And then then the duboi collapsed to the canvas when
- 29:58Speaker 2: it was a you know, you and I both thought
- 30:01Speaker 2: under the rule book was a clean shot.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Or at minimum of.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Border minimum a border got away with it. So now
- 30:10Speaker 2: in this case, was it clear? Yes, I just think
- 30:13Speaker 2: it was one of those types of things where Steve
- 30:16Speaker 2: Willis got caught up in that, you know what I think.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I mean, some people we're saying he's slipping. I think
- 30:22Speaker 2: generally the guy who has been a pretty good ref
- 30:24Speaker 2: I mean I don't. I don't think it's fixed. I
- 30:27Speaker 2: just think it's like the usk type thing. I mean,
- 30:30Speaker 2: you know, Givonte Davis is a big name, and he's
- 30:33Speaker 2: he's kind of like overthinking it, letting him, yeah, letting
- 30:38Speaker 2: him get away with it, like to use the thing,
- 30:40Speaker 2: but clearly under the rule book. I mean you could
- 30:43Speaker 2: even see that really in first motion. I mean he
- 30:45Speaker 2: gets hit with not a hard punch, but he gets
- 30:48Speaker 2: hit with a punch to the eye. You know, he
- 30:50Speaker 2: starts to complaining, he goes down. I mean it's yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 2: he does the eye thing. I mean what what so
- 30:58Speaker 2: then what that leads to for me, what was troubling
- 31:01Speaker 2: was was that and then Roach a complete non puncher.
- 31:06Speaker 2: You know, he didn't have him in any kind of
- 31:08Speaker 2: trouble or anything like that. But we hadn't seen this
- 31:12Speaker 2: from Tank before either. You know, he's getting like moved
- 31:15Speaker 2: and bothered by Roach's punches. And Roach a low KO
- 31:19Speaker 2: percentage guy who against his best opposition, hasn't shown any
- 31:25Speaker 2: power either, So you know that that that was troubling
- 31:30Speaker 2: to me. You know, I think for the scorecards it
- 31:35Speaker 2: just ended up being one of those again without considering
- 31:40Speaker 2: the factor that that wasn't not technical knockdown call, just
- 31:44Speaker 2: storing how they showed us how it is without the knockdown, right,
- 31:49Speaker 2: but let's let's face it, it's technical rule book knockdown too.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Like Gervante, I'd be fair to roach like he was bothered,
- 31:58Speaker 2: but it's just like the the the which frankly was
- 32:03Speaker 2: even worse. Like in Usik Duboi. You had Usik backers
- 32:07Speaker 2: saying like, oh, well, if he would have known they
- 32:10Speaker 2: were counting him out, he would have jumped right up
- 32:12Speaker 2: and fired back at everything. Well in that case, yeah,
- 32:15Speaker 2: you know that's not a certainty. Now in this he
- 32:19Speaker 2: would have got up, He could have got up, hurt,
- 32:22Speaker 2: hurt more. You know, you would think Davis would have
- 32:25Speaker 2: would have been okay. But you know, I would say
- 32:28Speaker 2: a little bit roach a non puncher. But with Davis
- 32:31Speaker 2: inexplicably to me, compared based on his past history getting
- 32:35Speaker 2: bothered with the shots, I don't know though, who knows,
- 32:40Speaker 2: you know, if there would if he maybe if Roach
- 32:42Speaker 2: follows up immediately or something. I don't know, if Gervante
- 32:45Speaker 2: was so bad off that night he would have started
- 32:48Speaker 2: to unravel or something. I'm not saying he would have,
- 32:51Speaker 2: but I suppose the way it played out, you can't
- 32:55Speaker 2: one hundred percent rule it out. But outside of that,
- 32:58Speaker 2: I think cards having it a draw or you know,
- 33:03Speaker 2: one guy would have been a winner one fifteen, one thirteen.
- 33:06Speaker 2: It was one of those types of types of fights
- 33:09Speaker 2: kind of playing out the way you said. You know,
- 33:13Speaker 2: Dave is still despite being bothered a few times. You know,
- 33:15Speaker 2: he's got the shots with more authority, and like you said,
- 33:19Speaker 2: he was starting to open it up. But you're right,
- 33:21Speaker 2: like we've never seen before with his fights, where he
- 33:24Speaker 2: started to open it up and then it wasn't It
- 33:27Speaker 2: wasn't decisive. Yeah, you know, it didn't carry on to
- 33:31Speaker 2: be decisive. I thought this was something that he'd been
- 33:36Speaker 2: performing effectively enough that I couldn't exactly call when it
- 33:39Speaker 2: was going to happen. But I have been saying it
- 33:41Speaker 2: for a long time and probably seemed a bit crazy
- 33:45Speaker 2: to some about talking about him going up and wait,
- 33:48Speaker 2: you know we've talked about that, and I've given my
- 33:51Speaker 2: reasons for it before and why that matters to me
- 33:54Speaker 2: on this fight is I do think this now because
- 33:57Speaker 2: Roach just isn't. You know, he thought he's a solid fighter,
- 34:01Speaker 2: He thought pretty well, but he's still not a puncher
- 34:04Speaker 2: or anything. And you know, Gravante was a minus sixteen
- 34:11Speaker 2: hundred favorite going in, you know, for him to have
- 34:14Speaker 2: this kind of trouble, he's thirty years old. You know,
- 34:18Speaker 2: at lightweight he's short for he's even for light weight,
- 34:22Speaker 2: he's sure now that doesn't get better when he moves
- 34:26Speaker 2: up in weight. But I used like the Pacchio example,
- 34:29Speaker 2: even though Pacio is more high volume and Tank is
- 34:33Speaker 2: not that you know, and we've talked about guys like
- 34:37Speaker 2: Roy Jones, like you know, sometimes you need to sometimes
- 34:41Speaker 2: to keep that skill set going the way you fight,
- 34:46Speaker 2: you need to move up. And I don't even mean
- 34:48Speaker 2: to like a one to forty Frankly, I don't think
- 34:50Speaker 2: that would be different enough. But that's where I do
- 34:52Speaker 2: mean the one forty seven, like even after a perform.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Said that like a few years ago too.
- 34:57Speaker 2: And at his age. This this was what I'm talking about.
- 35:01Speaker 2: And that goes from you know, boxing geniuses like Emmanuel Stewart,
- 35:06Speaker 2: you know, of course, Gervonte Davis, you know, has passed
- 35:09Speaker 2: his time in terms of you know, his pro mark.
- 35:12Speaker 2: But like you know, he talked about Tyson like like
- 35:16Speaker 2: post Douglas when Tyson was in his mid twenties, like,
- 35:18Speaker 2: I don't think the guy can get it back to
- 35:21Speaker 2: where he was even though he's in his mid twenties
- 35:23Speaker 2: because of his package, you know, his power, speed reflex
- 35:27Speaker 2: is just kind of a physical force. I've seen Stewart
- 35:29Speaker 2: talk about other guys like that end up being right
- 35:31Speaker 2: even though Tyson's still at his moments, even though he
- 35:34Speaker 2: was a mid twenties guy and that was at heavyweight,
- 35:37Speaker 2: it wasn't ye he came back strong now you know,
- 35:40Speaker 2: he had some you know, stopped Alex Stewart, he had
- 35:45Speaker 2: you know, the Rudduck fights were tough, competitive fights, and
- 35:47Speaker 2: he probably a lot out of Redduck day. Rutick was
- 35:49Speaker 2: flying high at the time. But I mentioned that even
- 35:51Speaker 2: though it's at heavyweight and we're at lightweight. Sometimes there
- 35:55Speaker 2: are some comparisons made to you know, Tank and even
- 35:59Speaker 2: Tanks Lefty, and I think some of them are valid too,
- 36:02Speaker 2: not all, but I think there's some comparisons there.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Even the soft voice right right, not getting people out,
- 36:09Speaker 1: but a soft one and.
- 36:11Speaker 2: And the you know, the explosive knockouts. And I can
- 36:14Speaker 2: think at age thirty, and it ties in with what's next,
- 36:18Speaker 2: which is important. But this word fit like if I'm
- 36:21Speaker 2: theoretically in Davis's camp and I'm managing, when you look
- 36:26Speaker 2: at the money that could be made, and I think
- 36:27Speaker 2: he he can turn it around. I'm not saying it'll
- 36:30Speaker 2: automatically be decisive or anything, but Roach isn't a puncher,
- 36:34Speaker 2: and it's not like Roach out boxed them completely for
- 36:37Speaker 2: twelve rounds or something. He probably can turn that around.
- 36:40Speaker 2: It's marketable as a pay per view because of this result.
- 36:45Speaker 2: You know, we've seen that boxing history, especially in the
- 36:47Speaker 2: last forty years, so many times, so that fits in
- 36:51Speaker 2: perfectly with the marketing. I think he can turn it around.
- 36:53Speaker 2: But here would be then my advice for what it's
- 36:55Speaker 2: worth afterward. Then if he's you know, if he's going
- 36:59Speaker 2: to take a big fight like against a Stevenson or something,
- 37:02Speaker 2: it might not go well at lightweight for the reasons
- 37:05Speaker 2: I'm saying. Sure, I could see him doing that for
- 37:08Speaker 2: the money, but like in other words, be prepared for
- 37:11Speaker 2: to lose. But Here's what I wouldn't do is and
- 37:14Speaker 2: they might go in this direction. That's why I'm saying,
- 37:16Speaker 2: either before Roach or even if they turned around against Roach,
- 37:20Speaker 2: I would not attempt if I was in Davis's camp
- 37:22Speaker 2: at his age now and after this performance, to have
- 37:25Speaker 2: him fight what they perceive to be softer opponents at lightweight,
- 37:29Speaker 2: because something like this is going to happen again. I
- 37:33Speaker 2: would then try to make that dramatic move up to
- 37:35Speaker 2: like to one forty seven, try to become historical legendary
- 37:39Speaker 2: in that sense, hoping maybe some of his positive attributes
- 37:44Speaker 2: that he's getting into his thirties could still carry over
- 37:47Speaker 2: at a higher weight against some bigger guys that for
- 37:50Speaker 2: his perspective or slower still true.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Yeah, So if you stay at thirty five, go for
- 37:57Speaker 1: a big fighter, don't go at all.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Right, That's what I'm saying, Like, don't That's because I
- 38:01Speaker 2: could see them doing that, And this is why I
- 38:03Speaker 2: want to say it now on the record.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Now, that's a good that's an interesting point. That is
- 38:07Speaker 1: an interesting point, because why go and lose or look
- 38:09Speaker 1: like crap against some mediocre.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Exactly, That's that's what That's what I came away from
- 38:15Speaker 2: this from that. This is probably I will say it,
- 38:18Speaker 2: because it just happens with that kind of a style
- 38:20Speaker 2: and he's in his thirties and what weight he's at.
- 38:23Speaker 2: I think the decline I couldn't have predicted when necessarily
- 38:28Speaker 2: because he was still pulling it off, but I think
- 38:30Speaker 2: the decline started, so they gotta be care you know.
- 38:34Speaker 2: I think they gotta be careful. You know. You could argue,
- 38:37Speaker 2: of course they've been real careful before this, but you
- 38:39Speaker 2: want to maximize money and he is only going to
- 38:42Speaker 2: maybe have a few more fights at full effectiveness. Like
- 38:45Speaker 2: I I'd look to this roach rematch myself and i'd
- 38:50Speaker 2: either if Stevenson's a huge fight at that point or something.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Maybe close the year with it or something.
- 38:55Speaker 2: You may go down, or if that's not available, I
- 38:59Speaker 2: think then I would make the move up to welter weight,
- 39:01Speaker 2: make that dramatic, see how it plays out, Maybe find
- 39:05Speaker 2: the right opponent there, and you know, try to try
- 39:08Speaker 2: to see if maybe you can make a late run
- 39:10Speaker 2: there and kind of be historical having you know how
- 39:14Speaker 2: to run at the top at welterweight and lightweight. That's
- 39:17Speaker 2: that's a real good legacy to me as a boxing historian.
- 39:21Speaker 2: So that's where I would go, But I wouldn't take
- 39:23Speaker 2: the path even before a Roach rematch, er right after
- 39:26Speaker 2: of like we're going to try to fight mediocre lightweight,
- 39:30Speaker 2: maybe even at one. I don't think i'd do that.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I think like going to one forty for Russell or
- 39:36Speaker 1: something like.
- 39:37Speaker 2: That, or yeah, like you know that's that's yeah, that
- 39:40Speaker 2: would be like to me, a recipe that's not.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Gonna work out well stylistically. Man, you want to see
- 39:45Speaker 1: him open up. He's going to have to open up
- 39:47Speaker 1: going against Russell. Yeah, just everybody eventually does.
- 39:51Speaker 2: And Russell's got amateur pedigree, even though he fights with
- 39:55Speaker 2: an aggressive style, so you know, it's not like the
- 39:57Speaker 2: guy doesn't know how to fight, and he's from a
- 39:59Speaker 2: fighting family. He's frash, you know, he hasn't taken any
- 40:03Speaker 2: punishment or anything like that. So yeah, I think they
- 40:07Speaker 2: gotta be careful. But I'm agreeing though, with the marketing,
- 40:11Speaker 2: and he's got a shot to reverse that to a
- 40:14Speaker 2: win against Roach in a rematch, so I think because
- 40:18Speaker 2: some people would look at that as risky, you know,
- 40:20Speaker 2: maybe say.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Well, you know what, what if he doesn't even do
- 40:22Speaker 4: a rematch, I'll move on right.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I think right. Some people have said I think
- 40:27Speaker 2: I think take that. It's good for marketing, that'll be
- 40:30Speaker 2: good for his image if he at least reverses it.
- 40:33Speaker 2: But then don't play around, don't play around down at
- 40:36Speaker 2: lightweight anymore with any mediocre opposition or anything like that.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Either get a big fight or move up.
- 40:42Speaker 1: And you know, even if they were going to do
- 40:45Speaker 1: the Ryan Garcia right again or even the cruise when
- 40:48Speaker 1: he had the belt, he was gonna go up for that,
- 40:51Speaker 1: or at least a catch weight or something. You know,
- 40:54Speaker 1: Garcia's at like one or forty four, he said, So
- 40:57Speaker 1: you're right, he'd have to go up anyway for those
- 40:59Speaker 1: big fights eventually. Anyway, what if, you know, at the
- 41:04Speaker 1: end of this year or whatever. I do think the
- 41:07Speaker 1: combination of maybe falling in love with the knockout kind
- 41:13Speaker 1: of you know, we mentioned this a lot with Jermal Charlough.
- 41:16Speaker 1: It was kind of different because he didn't have knockout
- 41:19Speaker 1: hard than he did, and then he changed his whole
- 41:21Speaker 1: fighting style. I was like, dude, move your hands, man,
- 41:24Speaker 1: win this round. Dude, what are you doing? You know
- 41:26Speaker 1: that's a feeling, but Tank's always pretty much well not
- 41:30Speaker 1: always early in his career, he did go hunt. He
- 41:33Speaker 1: would get hit more, but he would go hunt. And
- 41:36Speaker 1: usually once he turns the tide, you see him hunt now.
- 41:40Speaker 1: But I will say this, the combination of him just
- 41:44Speaker 1: not being focused, it was clear. I mean, he's looking
- 41:47Speaker 1: outside the ring. He's he acts like he's got in
- 41:50Speaker 1: the bag almost you know already. And then the inside
- 41:55Speaker 1: short shots in get counter You back I really like
- 42:00Speaker 1: from Lamont Roach. Another thing was the free hand. We
- 42:03Speaker 1: don't see that enough in today's boxing. If the ref's
- 42:07Speaker 1: not breaking you up and you got a free hand
- 42:09Speaker 1: and some dude just shimmied you with this, you know, shoulder.
- 42:13Speaker 1: I loved how Roach gave it right back to him.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Here's the right hand. You know. If the rest's not
- 42:18Speaker 1: gonna call it, I'm gonna do it. Man, f this,
- 42:21Speaker 1: you know. So I did like the inside short shots
- 42:24Speaker 1: from Roach. And I thought that the sparring. It sounds
- 42:29Speaker 1: like they had a lot of sparring, so maybe some
- 42:32Speaker 1: of his stuff he had already had that time to
- 42:36Speaker 1: get a little to to. You know, if you do
- 42:38Speaker 1: it enough, you can at least have seen it in
- 42:41Speaker 1: the ring. I think that played a minor part two.
- 42:44Speaker 1: But the short shots the counters. I was impressed with Lamont.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Wasn't just gonna sit there and be the b side,
- 42:52Speaker 1: you know.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that much because this is important to me, and
- 42:55Speaker 2: I think it shouldn't be important everybody. It's another good
- 42:59Speaker 2: time to point it out because it should be pointed
- 43:00Speaker 2: out every time it happens, which is very very frequently.
- 43:04Speaker 2: So Roach Roach fighting at one thirty five instead of
- 43:09Speaker 2: one thirty was meaningless. Another worse. No, there was no
- 43:13Speaker 2: difference in how he thought, what he brought to the
- 43:16Speaker 2: table or anything.
- 43:17Speaker 1: He's got good size act.
- 43:19Speaker 2: He's right there with a top whiteweight guy. So again
- 43:23Speaker 2: you just don't guy.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Actually at that way, you just don't.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Need all these You just don't need all these weight classes.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Ye they the added ones from the original eight, unless
- 43:34Speaker 2: you want to talk cruiser weight because heavyweights are so
- 43:36Speaker 2: big now, there's just no you know, just don't need him.
- 43:39Speaker 2: There's no there's no purpose for him. It's just you know,
- 43:41Speaker 2: popularized by the alphabets. And it just adds to when
- 43:45Speaker 2: you got four sanctioning bodies that people were talking about
- 43:48Speaker 2: out there, and then seventeen plus weight classes. If you'd
- 43:52Speaker 2: want to talk about these nonsense new ones the WBC
- 43:56Speaker 2: are trying.
- 43:56Speaker 1: To the IBO is gaining steam. Boy, I'll say burrows around.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I mean, I have mixed emotions about that. Part of
- 44:05Speaker 2: me wants him to start talking about him because maybe
- 44:07Speaker 2: then there's there's some point where people can finally have
- 44:11Speaker 2: the light bulb go off about how ridiculous it is.
- 44:13Speaker 1: And at least they got a decent ranking system to
- 44:16Speaker 1: say that.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Right started door start adoring all of them.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I think you're right about the rematch one.
- 44:25Speaker 1: You have the knee taken one. You have the silly excuse,
- 44:30Speaker 1: which yeah, we've heard all sorts of excuses through the years, right,
- 44:35Speaker 1: but in today's social media, that really does play, you
- 44:40Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like they already made a song
- 44:42Speaker 1: about it, you know, like it is just silly. It
- 44:46Speaker 1: really is. Yeah, it's silly.
- 44:48Speaker 2: But in the eye goes down, he takes a knee,
- 44:50Speaker 2: you know, you know, the hair product. I mean, it's
- 44:53Speaker 2: it's just silly. Like I said, I didn't like. To me,
- 44:56Speaker 2: a real worrisome thing was just those punches. Because you're right,
- 45:00Speaker 2: and whether that was focused or whatever, he's out of
- 45:03Speaker 2: his game. He's getting bothered by and then you're getting
- 45:06Speaker 2: hit by roach kind of like backed off a guy
- 45:09Speaker 2: who has no history as a puncher. That's really that's worrisome.
- 45:14Speaker 2: That's really worries.
- 45:15Speaker 1: And he said it, he said, after my eye was
- 45:19Speaker 1: burning or whatever, So honestly, I'd rather take the knee
- 45:25Speaker 1: then have my eye not one hundred percent and I
- 45:28Speaker 1: get hit and get knocked out. He literally said that,
- 45:31Speaker 1: you know, so, I mean, clearly there was a worry
- 45:35Speaker 1: in there something, you know what.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I mean, it looked like a you know, a concern
- 45:42Speaker 2: and not responding well.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Anytime you do that. It's one thing to take a knee.
- 45:47Speaker 1: It's another thing to go get some help with the towel.
- 45:51Speaker 1: It's like, okay, what, well, you sure are worried? What
- 45:54Speaker 1: is going on? Like the whole thing. You know, there's
- 45:58Speaker 1: a moment, even though Spence was dynamic against Ugas, but
- 46:04Speaker 1: there was that moment.
- 46:05Speaker 2: I was thinking about that. That reminded me of that
- 46:07Speaker 2: a little bit too. You just kind of like, but
- 46:10Speaker 2: Spence definitely got hurt.
- 46:11Speaker 1: He did, he got hurt in but he also fought
- 46:14Speaker 1: way better throughout the whole fight.
- 46:16Speaker 2: And he picked it right back up.
- 46:17Speaker 1: But it was still like and we talked about it,
- 46:20Speaker 1: and like, man, this. It's bugging me. I don't understand
- 46:24Speaker 1: how you could make that mistake.
- 46:25Speaker 2: You know, it was troubling. It was trouble, very trouble,
- 46:29Speaker 2: and then you know it all round.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Sure enough, you know, especially you know running into the
- 46:34Speaker 1: Crawford at that weight, you know, well.
- 46:37Speaker 2: I think it was you never know what beforehand, but
- 46:40Speaker 2: that would fit with what happened to him. You know,
- 46:44Speaker 2: his punch resistance could have could have been affected by
- 46:47Speaker 2: that accident. If he had any type of headed which
- 46:49Speaker 2: he was in the hospital for days, you had to
- 46:51Speaker 2: you had to assume there was some kind of head
- 46:52Speaker 2: injury there. People that said he definitely got cleared, I
- 46:56Speaker 2: agree with them. I mean some doctor must have sure,
- 47:00Speaker 2: So that's fair. That's a fair argument back. But yeah,
- 47:03Speaker 2: that doesn't mean there wasn't a head injury there. Oh yeah,
- 47:06Speaker 2: the accident and that does have long term effects.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I mean, what's show's uh? Baclis just sounds like he's
- 47:14Speaker 1: got cleared. You know, people are getting cleared. People get cleared.
- 47:17Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, they're clear, sure, but well.
- 47:20Speaker 2: You know plub Meyer who's putting articles for Boxing Scene
- 47:23Speaker 2: now and these guys have become freelancers. But the guy
- 47:26Speaker 2: was with the La Times at one point he just
- 47:29Speaker 2: this was was right before we got on. I saw it.
- 47:32Speaker 2: I mean he's straight out reporting that Bacoley's gonna take
- 47:36Speaker 2: this a joga fight in Saudi on.
- 47:39Speaker 1: When it sounded like he was off that card. Yeah,
- 47:43Speaker 1: and then.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Now or whatever. So I was picked up for to
- 47:47Speaker 2: knockout in the US. He wouldn't be permitted to fight
- 47:51Speaker 2: right at this point.
- 47:53Speaker 1: But and it's like, doesn't that commission have like a
- 47:58Speaker 1: phone or something?
- 47:59Speaker 2: I think see my understanding is that really there there
- 48:03Speaker 2: There isn't really any Saudi Arabian boxing commissions show. They
- 48:08Speaker 2: they borrow the services of the Yeah, you're right, yeah, me,
- 48:12Speaker 2: and that's why you always see British stuff out there
- 48:14Speaker 2: and everything.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that's but doesn't that have any barring as far
- 48:20Speaker 1: as the commission looking at that?
- 48:21Speaker 2: All right? So where's the b B of.
- 48:25Speaker 1: You know? Yeah, it's like that's that's weird to me.
- 48:29Speaker 1: But who knows, Maybe next week we'll do the show
- 48:31Speaker 1: and it'll be off.
- 48:32Speaker 2: It's weird. And you know, if I were not if
- 48:36Speaker 2: I'm not saying he will because he's been boxing so
- 48:38Speaker 2: much in recent fights with Coroma, but if I were
- 48:41Speaker 2: a Godby, I'd come out unloading.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I agree, go.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Right after the guy onloaded. And I'm thinking also three ten,
- 48:52Speaker 2: you know, yeah, two months for the camp. But you know,
- 48:54Speaker 2: you're you're not that. That's a lot of weight.
- 48:57Speaker 1: That's a lot of that's a that's a good idea. Yeah,
- 49:02Speaker 1: we'll see, but yeah, you're right, that's not a yeah,
- 49:05Speaker 1: you're right, he's his body's not going to look good
- 49:07Speaker 1: in two months, I mean look better sure.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Or if he tried to, if he lost that much weight,
- 49:11Speaker 2: he'd be drained.
- 49:12Speaker 1: So exactly, yeah, in just.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Two months, that's the thing, right anyway, but that just
- 49:17Speaker 2: today reported that you know, was said, but now it's
- 49:21Speaker 2: I would kind of put it as.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Official, yeah, or at least am I official official? Yeah, yeah,
- 49:28Speaker 1: I think we have to do that all right. So
- 49:30Speaker 1: so the code feature, they've put it on paper, right,
- 49:34Speaker 1: and on paper it looked like something all right, And
- 49:37Speaker 1: then in the.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Rings just about even money. It was balanced Whale a
- 49:41Speaker 2: slight favorite, then shifted to Russell's slight favorite. But people
- 49:44Speaker 2: say even money, but it was just about even money
- 49:47Speaker 2: going into the fight.
- 49:48Speaker 1: It's about as even as we get in boxing, yep, right,
- 49:52Speaker 1: because it's very rare when it's actually even.
- 49:54Speaker 2: It was like almost actually.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Mean, and it probably was for a little time, you know, right, yeah, right,
- 50:03Speaker 1: yeah exactly. But then I mean Russell put on his
- 50:09Speaker 1: best perforence as a pro. This guy put it all together.
- 50:13Speaker 1: And I've always loved his style because, like you said,
- 50:17Speaker 1: it's aggressive, but in like right away when he started
- 50:22Speaker 1: getting on TV or like off TV, undercards, streaming or whatever,
- 50:26Speaker 1: you could see there was there was a lot there,
- 50:28Speaker 1: but it was also kind of smothering. We talked about
- 50:30Speaker 1: Porter and stuff like that, where you're like, man, it's close,
- 50:34Speaker 1: it's really close. But the guy's got something, that's for sure.
- 50:38Speaker 1: But he put it all together, whether it's fundamental pressure
- 50:42Speaker 1: all that defense like he was, he was doing it.
- 50:46Speaker 1: And obviously I'll let you talk about the fight, but
- 50:50Speaker 1: he needs to fight this year, no if ans or busts.
- 50:55Speaker 1: He needs He cannot go another year out of the writ.
- 50:58Speaker 1: You know, but what were youre thinking on Russell?
- 51:01Speaker 2: Great Russell, I mean he got everything but the knockout, right, yeah,
- 51:06Speaker 2: and so he's back on track. You know, I think
- 51:10Speaker 2: as that was a fight on the card ironically, but
- 51:12Speaker 2: it's worth mentioning and and I really thought Russell could
- 51:15Speaker 2: have gotten that decision. You know, Plao's like, it's funny
- 51:18Speaker 2: he was fighting Martine because they're a little bit similar
- 51:23Speaker 2: in that sense, like these are these are guys they
- 51:25Speaker 2: don't punch well, they don't do that much. You know,
- 51:29Speaker 2: they're they're not They're not in there to be that
- 51:31Speaker 2: aggressive there, and and you know they end up close
- 51:37Speaker 2: on the cards. And then you know, Martine hasn't gotten
- 51:41Speaker 2: some of these calls. I don't think he should have
- 51:42Speaker 2: in my opinion, but you know, Plao's gotten some of
- 51:45Speaker 2: these calls. So I'm just saying, like, you know, it's
- 51:48Speaker 2: not like Russell was dominated by the guy or anything
- 51:52Speaker 2: like that. Sure, so you know he's he's right back
- 51:56Speaker 2: on track. He got everything except the knockout. And and
- 51:58Speaker 2: you know, for Valenswale, I saw people, you know, if
- 52:01Speaker 2: you watch the guy's whole career, and I've seen a
- 52:04Speaker 2: lot of them from the beginning. I mean, some people
- 52:07Speaker 2: are like he doesn't have the power. Now he's got
- 52:10Speaker 2: tremendous power. He has fights where he and you know,
- 52:14Speaker 2: you could see it a little bit. Maybe they were
- 52:16Speaker 2: saying with the style matchup with Cruise, but there have
- 52:20Speaker 2: been other moments in his career and not ironically, not
- 52:25Speaker 2: the the two losses, but even in some of his
- 52:27Speaker 2: other wins where he'd being with somebody and you're like,
- 52:30Speaker 2: you know, like why why is he boxing this guy?
- 52:32Speaker 2: Because you know, you look in his first fight with Colbert,
- 52:35Speaker 2: which I thought he did win and should have gotten
- 52:37Speaker 2: a decision. I mean, those were vicious shots he was
- 52:42Speaker 2: nailing Colbert with and dropped Colbert. Even know, Colbert showed
- 52:45Speaker 2: a lot of heart in that fight and fought back valiantly,
- 52:48Speaker 2: really showed a lot of heart. I just personally didn't
- 52:51Speaker 2: think it was enough, but he showed a tremendous amount
- 52:53Speaker 2: of guts and then in the rematch he just he
- 52:55Speaker 2: just flatlined.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Him.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Even though he is way past his best, still always
- 53:01Speaker 2: a tough guy. That knockout against Francisco Vargas in the
- 53:05Speaker 2: first round, you know that. I mean that's like a cannon.
- 53:08Speaker 2: I mean, this is the way he kaoed these people.
- 53:13Speaker 2: And there's he has other that he's had like that too.
- 53:17Speaker 2: He's got that like a big puncher. Yeah, this this
- 53:19Speaker 2: guy is a big puncher, but he has fights where
- 53:23Speaker 2: he boxs someone in this one, you know, Russell does
- 53:27Speaker 2: bring that package where you know he's he's physically strong
- 53:31Speaker 2: and he and he comes aggressive and he's got skill,
- 53:34Speaker 2: and you know that that part is just you know, Valenzuella,
- 53:37Speaker 2: you know, getting backed up by him not getting that
- 53:41Speaker 2: leverage that he needs to get. I mean, I think
- 53:43Speaker 2: that that was crucial in this fight, but there are
- 53:47Speaker 2: other fights that Valenzuela here and there. You know, like
- 53:51Speaker 2: like I said this, you know, I didn't get the
- 53:54Speaker 2: main event right, what was going to play out. I
- 53:56Speaker 2: just didn't think this would be the fight that Davis
- 53:59Speaker 2: would show this slip that could happen at anytime. But
- 54:02Speaker 2: like this Russell Valenzuela, I felt like I really got
- 54:06Speaker 2: right because I like both guys. I'm not saying I
- 54:09Speaker 2: know it was going to be that much of a domination, but.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think anybody would have known it would
- 54:13Speaker 1: have been that many rounds and won the guy's favor.
- 54:16Speaker 2: Right. But even though like I picked Valens well for
- 54:19Speaker 2: the upset against Cruise, but I did have those reservations
- 54:23Speaker 2: that he didn't get his power off like like I
- 54:25Speaker 2: would have liked to see and I consider him a
- 54:28Speaker 2: real good power punctuer, and he didn't in this fight either,
- 54:30Speaker 2: So you know that's something that that they got to.
- 54:34Speaker 2: I mean, at least he didn't get kod here or
- 54:36Speaker 2: anything his two losses. You know, he just got caught
- 54:39Speaker 2: against del Santos when he was dominating.
- 54:42Speaker 1: He had down, he had down to your point, he
- 54:45Speaker 1: knocked him down hard too.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Right, he knocked him van hard. I thought he could
- 54:49Speaker 2: have gotten the first Colbert Nod. So I think for him,
- 54:52Speaker 2: we're talking, you know, when I'm speculating about next moves
- 54:54Speaker 2: for people I've been saying for a while, and it
- 54:57Speaker 2: seemed once once or twice they're close to it. The
- 55:00Speaker 2: redemption for Valens Whale is take get that De los
- 55:03Speaker 2: Santos rematch, you know, get him out of there, which
- 55:06Speaker 2: I think he's capable of doing, and then all right,
- 55:09Speaker 2: you lost this one, but Russell's tough, you might get
- 55:12Speaker 2: back on track. I mean, yeah, Gary inch One Russell,
- 55:15Speaker 2: I mean, you know, he's he's got the talent to
- 55:18Speaker 2: be ready for a for a big fight. It's you know, then,
- 55:21Speaker 2: what what big fight can they you know, what big
- 55:24Speaker 2: fight can they get them? I mean, what what big
- 55:25Speaker 2: fight canc get them? That's where you got to think.
- 55:29Speaker 2: I mean, they're from the same region, but after what
- 55:32Speaker 2: happened with Tank, even if your reverses against Roach, I
- 55:36Speaker 2: don't think i'd take I don't think if I were
- 55:38Speaker 2: tanks Camp, I'd be taking that fight right at the
- 55:42Speaker 2: stage that would be an example of that for me.
- 55:43Speaker 2: I mean maybe bigger guys, but I don't think i'd
- 55:46Speaker 2: do the Gary Inch one Russell ATK I do.
- 55:49Speaker 1: So those other b sides that would make you some
- 55:51Speaker 1: more money, but also you'd.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Be doing it at a higher weight, right at a
- 55:55Speaker 2: higher weight. Yeah, I think I think I do. I
- 55:57Speaker 2: think I do something else there. But like I said,
- 56:00Speaker 2: huge career best performance, yes from Russell.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Realistically though that fight with him in Tank the way
- 56:09Speaker 1: Russell brings it man.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Very interesting fight and they are really like region.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I really like Russell.
- 56:19Speaker 2: And he looks to me a guy that could easily
- 56:22Speaker 2: fight that you wealth their way one hundred and forty seven. Yes,
- 56:26Speaker 2: I'm sure you know if I if I were him,
- 56:28Speaker 2: if I were him, I'd just follow the money myself.
- 56:31Speaker 2: I wouldn't worry about the alphabet stuff that much. I
- 56:33Speaker 2: think he gets overrated even now. I just you know,
- 56:38Speaker 2: look for try to try to get get the biggest
- 56:41Speaker 2: money fight you can. I don't think I'd be defending
- 56:44Speaker 2: the alphabet belt against lesser guys and just take that route.
- 56:48Speaker 2: I think I'd.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Taken like another rematch there, you think you do that?
- 56:53Speaker 1: Or yeah?
- 56:53Speaker 2: I mean I think he beats him in a rematch. Yeah,
- 56:57Speaker 2: I think he beats him in a rematch. He could,
- 56:59Speaker 2: I mean, if they're gonna do that type of a thing,
- 57:01Speaker 2: yeah he could, he could do that worthy.
- 57:03Speaker 1: But yeah, right, that's the thing. It's like one forty
- 57:06Speaker 1: seven now is you know, it's kind of cleaned out
- 57:09Speaker 1: to an.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Extent now It used to it being the bet right
- 57:11Speaker 2: there with the best, and it's not right now like it.
- 57:14Speaker 1: Yeah, and we're about to get probably the best fight,
- 57:17Speaker 1: you know in the division. I'd say soon already. So yeah,
- 57:23Speaker 1: that that'd be kind of interesting to see, all right.
- 57:25Speaker 1: So yeah, I can't say enough about Russell. He really
- 57:29Speaker 1: put it all together. And like I said, you know,
- 57:34Speaker 1: within six months, get you know, get him back in
- 57:38Speaker 1: the ring. He needs to fight that she cannot go
- 57:41Speaker 1: and he can't do his brother's schedule. I just not
- 57:46Speaker 1: many guys can do that. You know. It looked good
- 57:49Speaker 1: after a year and a year and a year out,
- 57:51Speaker 1: year out you know, I really hope he's back. Do
- 57:54Speaker 1: you think you know I forgot uh you know, thinking
- 57:57Speaker 1: about that, do you think the time out of the
- 58:01Speaker 1: ring after well catches up to Davis at all? Because
- 58:05Speaker 1: he when you look at it, he had at the
- 58:08Speaker 1: beginning of twenty twenty three, he had those January April,
- 58:12Speaker 1: then he had a big gap, then he had another
- 58:15Speaker 1: I think ten months or something like that. Do you
- 58:18Speaker 1: think that's starting to catch up to him, because he
- 58:20Speaker 1: I would.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Say that to me, that would be more of like
- 58:23Speaker 2: a marketing thing, like with his style, that would just
- 58:27Speaker 2: be to me more like wasted time where now he's thirty.
- 58:31Speaker 2: In other words, he could have gotten more fights in
- 58:35Speaker 2: and I'm not. As you know, I pushed back against
- 58:38Speaker 2: the people say they go overboard with the activity thing.
- 58:41Speaker 2: I think, you know, boxing, it's just too dangerous when
- 58:43Speaker 2: you're at the elite level. Two fights a year, if
- 58:46Speaker 2: they're both good, would be enough for me. But he
- 58:48Speaker 2: wasn't even doing that.
- 58:49Speaker 1: He wouldn't even do you only did that that one year.
- 58:51Speaker 2: I feel like, right, so, being consistent with my own standards,
- 58:55Speaker 2: I think that's wasted time at an age where he's
- 59:00Speaker 2: still had that full explosive.
- 59:01Speaker 1: You know.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Now he's thirty, so you probably wasted a couple of
- 59:07Speaker 2: fights there, right exactly, It's gonna get worse, not any better.
- 59:10Speaker 2: So I don't think now he should worry about it now.
- 59:12Speaker 2: It's probably more Oh yeah, I'm just saying in general,
- 59:16Speaker 2: but gen no, I think it does. It hurts, not
- 59:20Speaker 2: like per Se because he was inactive, but he missed
- 59:24Speaker 2: fights he could have had where he would have still
- 59:27Speaker 2: had that explosiveness, you know, still being in his twenties
- 59:32Speaker 2: right right, Not that he still doesn't have, you know,
- 59:35Speaker 2: a good portion of it, but with that style, I
- 59:39Speaker 2: do think this was probably the start of the slide.
- 59:41Speaker 2: And with that, I don't mean he can't beat Roach
- 59:44Speaker 2: in a rematch, but I think you gotta you gotta
- 59:46Speaker 2: monitor him carefully for the slide now.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Right, and and then play you Martin Martinez should say.
- 59:58Speaker 1: It's kind of funny because the first like four or
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: five rounds is like, oh wait, hold on, this isn't
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: that bad. Hang on, Mark Martin's coming for what are
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: you doing coming out? It's like wow? And then of
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: course middle rounds it kind of back it went back
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: to right here, and then it seemed like it's like
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: the last couple of rounds, like, okay, let's pick it back.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: It's really weird. It's almost like they're like, hey, we're
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: going to prove them wrong for five rounds.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: I almost think it will a little bit of that,
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: a little bit of it.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: And they did get a lot of heat all week,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and I and I wasn't exaggerating when I said it,
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: and I was joking about it, but but it was
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: serious in that and that's what I think that they
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: almost were trying to prevent. I guess you'd give him
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: some credit for that. I thought. I mean, this could
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: have been one of the worst fights in terms of
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: entertainment value ever shown on a pay per view, no exaggeration.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: I mean, forget the alphabet belt stuff. It could have been.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: It had that potential. And I think you're right, it
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: did have that look, especially in the first four or
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: five rounds of Martin.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Company, I'm let's going on here.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: You know, it seemed like they may have heard some
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: of it. So you know, they saved themselves from from
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: being the worst pay per view fight. They did pretty good, yeah,
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: with their efforts, but certainly to me, those are not
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: two guys that should be matched against each other.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we got like the best that possibly
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: could have probably been, you know, and it.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Still was like that was the best they can do.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: And I didn't have a problem with the decision that well,
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: that one too. The Tank fight didn't play out like
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: I thought, but that one played out. I did pick play. Oh.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: He ended up becoming a slight favorite, but well not
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: by much close to an even money fight, And that
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: was a good one for me too. I did again
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: as dull as I expected that to be. I just
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: as we broke down last week, I put some money
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: on play oh. Yeah, and the Tank fight I stayed
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: off of because minus sixteen hundred and then it was
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: like minus six hundred to get a ko or something
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: like that, or minus four hundred to get a ko
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: over Yeah, it was like, but that's where that hurts boxing, Like,
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: it ended up being much better than expected, and it'll
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: warrant a rematch. I'm in favor of that with what happened.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: But kidding myself not to take a you know, put
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: a little something in the dry you know, just yeah,
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: maybe you put on it, but I wasn't enough on
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: paper to do that.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: No, that wasn't because Draft but I'm just saying because
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Draft Kings has become such a good partner. Really, they're
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: all over it. And when boxing is getting sponsors, I
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: think it is that big. But like you need betible fights,
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: that's another issue with the sport. Like that's that was
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: like it turned out result wise, it didn't. Admittedly it
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: didn't turn out unbettable, but it looked unbetable. Yeah, it
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: just looked on better. There was no play.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: There, yeah, exactly. Yeah, I agree with the the with
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Toyo winning. We both picked him. But still, you know,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: even like they they he didn't land as many hooks
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: or power punches, but every time he landed his power punch,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: it sure looked like it was landing a lot better
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: than when our team was landing, you know. So you
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: put that with the with the clean jab, it was
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: a nice job. It was doing something, and then you
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: land some other hooks and uppercuts and bodywork. I thought
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: that was enough to win that fight. They kept bringing
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: up the power punch, but we all know it's just
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: the jab non jab, and it just didn't look like
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: he was doing as much. I hate to use the
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: word damage, but well he did kind of shake him
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: up to the body. Actually, uh Poyo did later in
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: that fight. I think it was a right hand of
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: the body. Can't remember, but but yeah, I did think
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Klayu won that fight. And I also didn't like how
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: they ever till every once in a while they'll they'll say, so,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: he's gonna need a knockout to win. Well, actually on
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: that card, It's like, dude, that's a that's a made
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: up card man that has nothing. While you're misleading people
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: or mislead, like say it before you say you're sentenced,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Say now, this is not official, but if it were,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: he would need on Larry Hazards, you know, say it
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: like that. Don't just say he's gonna need a knockout.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: It's like, no, he's not what you're You're right.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: It really is dreadful, and it's it's a lot of them,
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: and not just trying to be negative on all of them,
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: but it is dreadful. I agree with you. It's just dreadful,
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: just stuff that just shouldn't be happening. And you know,
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: ranal with the just just he got in this habit.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Some of the stuff that bothers other people he does
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: doesn't bother me as much like well you said that
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: bothers me. And then uh, the the alpha he's tall
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: about alphabet belt stuff like every five seconds that comes
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: out of his mouth. It just it's like for me,
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: it's just like nails on a chalkboard or something. I'm like, man,
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: you know that this is just like unlistenable.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: I mean, he's just long winded. That's the only thing
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: I have broums with. It's like he needs to fit
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: all this stuff in. I get it, that is your job,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: but you can just it's like, I don't know, it's
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: just like, dude, let's talk about did he land that
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: left hand or not. Let's you know, let's talk about
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: what's going on in the ring for once, you.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Know, or maybe some history outside of the alpha alphabet stuff.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: You used to have that in boxing and broadcast, you know.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: And you know, I've even heard Steven ESPINOSI a couple
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: of years ago, not too long ago, and he's a
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: smart guy talk about getting away from that kind of
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: stuff and talking about like the transnational rankings and things
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: like that. But you know, he they've ended up not
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: getting not getting away from that stuff. I think they
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: feel like to compete they got to do with the
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: other promotions. But I don't think you do. And I'd
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: like to just see a step step forward from all
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: that kind of nonsense.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Yeah, because there's a lot of I mean, boxing is
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: obviously individual and there's a lot of stories to tell. Man,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: if you want to sit there and talk for ninety
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: seconds out of a round, like you said, at least
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: make it interesting.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: You know, you don't have to do the alphabet angle
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: all the time when you're talking around you know, Unified
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Champion and WBO, they just you know, you don't have
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: to talk about give us a better historical sense of
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: the significance leading to now, and you know, without that
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: kind of nonsense.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Yeah, if it's a title, if it's a title Lemonade
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: and the guy who has the titles on the card
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: and it's coming up next, okay, you can bring it up. Sure,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: so you can mention it to get there. Okay, cool,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: that's all I need. I don't need anything else.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, I mean you can mention it once.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: You know, you could say U B A something or
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: other and that's it. Just don't say it again.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: I mean, I don't need we don't need it, right,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: even the whole ranking thing. And that's the thing Number
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: eight dude, is he.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Like they don't rank, they don't rank the other organization's champions,
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: and they got easy guys ranked ahead of good fighters
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: and politically connected. Don't don't don't use those I mean,
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: don't you know? I mean, what that guy, that guy
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: that I'm sorry, but it just that should have been
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: brought out. We did a few weeks ago because it
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: was a pretty good fight. But what that coil guy
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: that fought Bill Dickey audience last few years ago. He
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: was like number three in the w B A and
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: mid middleweight. He's a thirty six year old middleweight. Han't anybody,
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: But he's the third rank, the third right.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: W n B A middleweight. That's Bill Dicky's first fight
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: at middleweight. He's fighting have been. You know, it's a draw.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: It's a draw. And I thought Bill dickiy would I
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: think you did too. But your point is like that
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: guy was number three ranked in the w B Yeah,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: that's up. Don't pretend like that's real and come on.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: And the funny thing is when they'll do that, right,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: and then you got to box wreck. He's not even
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: ranked number one in this country, I mean, the second
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: best Germany here. You're like, do you're not even the
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: best there? Dude? Like how can you.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Eat you know legitimately right exactly?
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah exactly. You're like, now you're not even
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: the best guy out of that, Like literally, how can
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: you be ranked like that? So the rest of the
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: card you want to tell us, Tyez did a you
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: know box? Uh pretty? You know, I like this jab.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: It was kind of uneven. It was like there was
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: moments where I'm like, there you go, that's nice, and
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: another moments where it's like it's it wasn't altogether, the
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: whole package wasn't on display for.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: How high I think of And I think this is
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: again the odds makers are like the independent are biter
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: of it. He was like a minus six hundred k
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: O favorite too against Jay Rock. Yeah, you know, it's
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: not like I'm being too hard on him. I mean
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: he was like a.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: For those listening, that's you know, that's hard to bet on.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Yeah, right exactly, And I like him a lot, and
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: to me, you know, not putting a real role out
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: of hurd on him, not getting him out of there
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: kind of a I mean, I'm not saying he won't
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: bounce back from it, and that's won't still make some noise,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: but you do have to go. And what you see
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: that was like like a semi loss. That was almost
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: like a semi loss not getting them out of there,
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: you know, for for his status and how high I
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: think of him, and the odds makers thought the same.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: So that was even with the you know, dominant win
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: on the cards, that that performance was disappointing to me.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it didn't seem like he followed up on things
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: like the setup was there, you know, and okay, you
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: got in that nice jab, Okay, you're there, Oh go,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: and then it just yeah, we know Jay Rock's crafty
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: or whatever. We also know he's pretty chinny, you know
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: what I mean. So it's like, yeah, he's pretty good
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: fighter overall, he's clearly past his prime. And uh yeah,
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: it was it's like he left a little something there.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: Had he been how long? How far had he gone
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: in a fight? Had he been let's see here, Oh
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: he had gone ten And I thought, yeah, I thought
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: he had gone ten of course not the box wrecked. Yeah,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: you had gone ten twice, so that's not really an excuse. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: you'd gone ten twice and he just knocked up the dude.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: You know that Herd fought to a slit decision.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's what I mean, you know, like any
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: you know, he knocked out Garcia, you know that in
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: that breakout performance where you look who was a pretty
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: tough guy. A lot of people thought highly of Garcia,
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: you know, and then yeah, he just he knocked out.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: And I did watch the Herd fight. I mean, Herd shot.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: We knew going in, you know, I'll tell you though,
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: he rallied, he rallied and not stretch. I mean that
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: was just like all on heart. If it would have
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: been a draw, I mean I would have myself, I
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: could have lived with that. Yeah, but you know, it
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: would kind of be appropriate because to me, they had
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: that fight at the year level fight. I thought it
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: was fight of the year and they were in that
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: same era, you know, on that good PBC one hundred
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: and fifty four pound round robin. If they both retired
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: at the same time, like if there, if their last
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: fight was both both of their last.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: Fight running back one more time.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Well they could if they needed one more pack together.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: I'm not good for your health, but that's probably not
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: a bad idea of money wise.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: If they want to keep fighting, I wouldn't mind that.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Now, if they want to keep I would say that
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: if they want to keep.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: They want to keep fighting, that is a good fight.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: And make that their farewell and then they both retire,
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: even though we know that doesn't happen very often hardly. Yeah,
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: that that and that would be fun. A yeah, if
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: they both retired after this, that would be good. But yeah,
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: if they were going to keep fighting, I'd rather have
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: that than something else.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Let them a good spot for it too. That's a
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: good call. It is. It's like the perfect time for
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: it in a sense. You know, nothing's perfect when these
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: guys are past their prime, but if they're going to fight,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: you know, it would be.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: Entertaining and plus PBC you can tell you know. And
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: that is Al Hayman basically. I mean he's taken an
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: approach we've said a lot of times, but and it's
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: not wrong. Like I could see his view on it,
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: and I can see the opposing view, but I can
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: see his view on it too. He's obviously taken a
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: policy from day one to PBC that if you want
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: to continue fighting, yeah, I'm going to give you fights.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: I'm not you know, the other side.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Going to be easy, but we'll get you fighting. You know.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: The other side of the coin was they say, well,
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: we're worried about the health, but really they're cutting you loose.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: You know, you've got something for that promotion and then
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: they're cutting you lose.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: That is a good point. Yeah, right, so that's not Yeah,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: that could put them in a worse scenario if they
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: do keep fighting too. You know, it's a weird less money. Yeah,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: that it's kind of an interesting point that we keep
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: mentioning when it comes to that.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: But it's worth mentioning with the PBC because if heard
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Herd has officially retired, but if he changes his mind,
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: and if Jay Rock wants to keep going, I mean
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: you you know, PBC is going to keep giving them.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: I think they'd have a slot for him for sure. Yeah.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: That sounds like a good armory fight to me.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it was such a was such a
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: great first fight and heard what it really was. You know,
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: if her if they were going to both keep fighting,
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: I'm sure her like to get the revenge before he
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: retire retire, But you know, if he's done and that's it,
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: I'm not going to fault in one bit. He took
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: a lot of shots. He was one of my favorite
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: guys when he was fighting. Yes, just in recent years,
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: you know, and I have said it, like, you know,
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: he's just shot. It just needs to be over. I
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: felt like so. But I thought watch him on these
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: prelims Saturday, you know, and knowing maybe that's it. It
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: was at least if that is it. He showed a
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: lot of heart in that round he did. He showed
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: exactly why we liked him exactly. It was like, man,
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: this guy like he can dig deep.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: Man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he gave us a lot of
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: like in a short amount of time, and that happens
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: when you fight that way, right. He really did give
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: us entertainment. And you know, just thinking back, it wasn't
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: even that long ago really, but yeah, those that fifty
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: four on Fox, a lot of it was on Fox too, Yes,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: I mean they that was that was That was great drama.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I mean it looks really good looking back, especially with
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: where we're at now. I mean, in a way, ten
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: years is flown by because that's the people really and
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: now they're their generation of guys that they built up,
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: guys that we did get to know and that was
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: the idea of these two perfect example, Williams and Hurd.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: They're near the end now, like legitimately, it's just hard
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: to believe the way time goes by, and of course
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: a whattic time you you know, it goes when you're
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: much younger person.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: It's not right.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: But but you know, these guys are these guys that
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: we got to know through PBC, and they did get
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: us to know some people, which was the objective by
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: these appearances on Fox, like we're saying and other network TV.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: You know, these guys are winding down.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: So mine does fly though. I'm looking at it and
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: it literally was about a ten years from now because
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: that first card was March early March twenty fifteen. I
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: mean ten years. Man. It flies. When you start to
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: get a certain age, the time just flies.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: It does. But it's it's it's important to note because
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: you know some of what PBC in that sense we
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: know these guys, so part of that worked. But now
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: those guys are winding down. Yeah, I think while we're
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: talking about I should bring it up because it interested me.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: So a couple of days before the fight, when Steven
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: Espinosa was on the brunch boxing space. I tuned in
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: because I find him for especially for the business.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: Relatively realistic.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: It sounded to me realistic, so and I think he
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: was as always, but to me then sad the report
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: that I kind of didn't like some of the things,
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: so I was right, kind of want to go out
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: there those. At least he was honest about it too.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: He was saying, you know, we know Pueo Martine might
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: not necessarily be the best, but it's on to pay
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: for review. But he didn't run from it, no, no
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: pun intended who he had fighted. But then what I
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: didn't like, he said, because I don't think this is
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: I'm with you. He's usually real realistic. I think this
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: was a little bit unrealistic. He says, yeah, we got
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: to go with this pay per view now. It's it's
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: where the sport's at, unfortunately, but we hope to whether
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: this period giving you more pay per views to maybe
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: get to another place. And I thought, I don't see
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: how that works. I don't see how less exposure over
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: a period of years. I just don't see how that
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: gets you to another place. I don't see. So that
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: was interesting. I thought he was implying I think it's
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: fair to say that Canelo just really didn't want Benevidez
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: in the end. I mean, you know, it's pretty obvious,
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: right right, that he.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Gets your most upfront money a couple of times that
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: you've ever had, he don't take it, you know.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Exactly that he is.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: That's what I want to know. Al Haman offered three
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: different packages over about a four or five year stretch
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: to him, and it always had Benevita's in the package,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: and that was always the most money too. And I
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: hope at least Turkey offers him the fight, because that's
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: all you can do. If you offer it to him,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: then you're off the hook, because like, hey, I tried, man,
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: I tried, you know, And I really hope Turkey next
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: year even sound saying that sucks, but I hope next
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: year he does make a run at it at Benavita's.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Canela like, hey, man, right, you know, I don't know,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: but yeah, it just doesn't It just doesn't seem like
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: it's And also I thought you were going to get
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: that's a great point about the pay per view and
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: all that, but also he was very realistic about the
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: amount of money that is no longer in the sport
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: that was invested, then it's out. And he started kind
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: of running through a lot of different stuff, and it's
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: some of the stuff we've been talking about, you know,
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: where you're like yeah, And that's what I did appreciate.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: He was very realistic. He wasn't just gonna be like, well,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: you know, there's the grass is always greener. It's like
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: not always, not when it doesn't rain, you know.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's the stuff of what's gonna happen in
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: the sport and how the business affects what's gonna happen
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: in the ring. I felt like I wanted to hear it. So, yes,
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: you know, it's stuff we talk about a lot. It
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: is important, you know. So he mentioned you know we yeah,
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: you know you have some of the free Amazon fights,
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: but he wasn't talking about that even that much. And
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: like I said, Espinosa to me is always pretty honest.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: Like I kind of tried to get really optimistic last
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: week when we talked about like, oh and they're talking
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: Spencer Zoo on Amazon, just like that would be too.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: But here in Steven Espinosa talk, I'm not saying that
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: one's not happening, but he didn't mention it, and he
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: didn't mention any other free Amazon ones and.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Like during the summer. But it's like, okay, well that's
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: just you saying that you go to see it.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't. I didn't feel too that. That's the
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: part I didn't feel too good about. Like I don't
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: know if I mean he's being honest about it. I
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: get that, yeah, you but I don't. I don't. As
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: we always talk, but it is so crucial. I just
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: don't see how that gets the eyeballs right to build
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: up anybody. So and you know, but he'll at least talk.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: He was talking some about Jake Paul, which you have
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: to it's not really like an in the ring issue,
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: like you and I say, you know, sometimes it's just
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: who sell who sells, So you gotta I think that's right.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: You gotta like start talking about the guy because where
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: the US state of boxing is, I mean, with with
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: the money he brings, he's right up there, so you know,
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: try let's try to utilize it.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Gervante t that they actually had plans for a fight,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: not necessarily Jake Paul. I'm just saying in general after
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: the fight in the presser. He teased it and said, well,
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna run this one back, but it was supposed
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: to be you may still hear it, you know, And
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: he was kind of vague with it because obviously he
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: just had a draw. But he did say that person
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: came to my locker. He was here, and it came
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: to my locker room, like Eastside Cruise came to his
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: locker room. But did Jake Paul come to his life?
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: You know? And sort maybe is he going to fill
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: in for the you know.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: Yeah, there was some kind of a buddy thing there,
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: so I mean.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: Someone was weird about it. Was that the plan? You know,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: I don't know, you know.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, Wall's got his own promotional thing, which
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: is done surprisingly well you'd have to at this point,
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: but they seem like they're getting a little closer to
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: PBC lately, so yeah, you know you kind of see
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: evidence of that, even though they haven't like put it together.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: But what, well that may be mean, I mean it could.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: Mean so, yeah, it was just kind of it was
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: kind of interesting. I noticed that. It was just like,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: so you had your plan, so you already had an
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: opponent plant, so who the hell was it? Well, there's
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: only a handful of you know, so yeah, it just
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: kind of kind of made me think any other items
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: from the weekend. Obviously we had that Crocker Donovan disqualification
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: from overseas, Craig Richardson took care of McCrory.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: Anything from just on the Donovan. Look, you know, you
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: hate to see a fighter get hurt out of the
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: after the bell and things. But I don't think this
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: has talked about because you know, you and I have
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: talked about it, and some people maybe not following as
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: long they kind of forget that. But usually you still
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: see a part of the referee instructions. It certainly was
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: for decades and decades. I mean it's protect yourself at
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: all times. So there was no moment like I get
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: it about the ref should be no one within the
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: ten second jumping in. That is true, but also it's
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: protect yourself at all times. Like yes, like there was
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: there was no moment like like where Crocker was like
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: dropped his hand like like I mean you're supposed to,
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: And there was no like moment like where you were
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: looking like, oh he heard the bell and he dropped
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: his hands and then he got clocked I mean he
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: was just getting he just got clocked in a natural sequence. Yeah,
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: he didn't change his actions because the bell rang and
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: he needed to donovan and that that I was a
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: little old school on that. I found myself like you know,
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: if a guy drops his hands and he's starting to
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: walk back to the court, Yeah, you know, bam. I mean,
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: but like you know, it's it's protect yourself at all
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: time you're in emotion, Like where where was you know?
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: It was kind of like where did the bell affect anything?
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: Right? Yeah, that's a good way to put it.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's where that Q was kind of bizarre
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: to me.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't once again didn't think I think, you know,
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: fandom got in the way of that. Yeah, you know,
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: because it's like we see that man, just like you know,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: shots to the side of the head, in the back
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: of the head and on the neck, we see the
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: below the belt. We see it, man, We see it
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: all the time. It's not a weird thing to happen, right.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: Sure I shouldn't say all the time, of course that
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: all the time, but we see it, like throughout a year,
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: you do see that, you know, right, And we've seen
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: some blatant ones where you're like, oh my gosh, you know,
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: something should be done about that one, you know, But
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: like you said, it wasn't like he had his back turned.
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: And right, yeh, it was like it was affected, like
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: like what he did was affected by the bell ringing,
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: Like he thought, Okay, there's the bell, it's over. I'm
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: now I'm dropping my gloves and walking away. That would
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: not be to protect yourself at all times. But like
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: this is like, you know, there was any a chance
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: where he's reacting to the bell in his behavior or anything.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: So and if it is a little after the bell,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: like I said, the stuff happens, man, it's not. I
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: don't think he went out of his way to you know,
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: there's other ways to do it. We've seen it, you know,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: we've seen at the end of fights, you know, trainers
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: get involved, boxers hitting trainers. Like there's all sorts of that.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: That's wild, you know. But yeah, I thought that was
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: kind of strange.
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: One thing I saw I would just mention. I wouldn't
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: consider it from like necessarily a credible source. So I
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: don't know if it's true yet, But somebody allegedly put
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: the bivol beater better be if purses on the card.
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: And to me, they were almost like low enough so
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: to speak, not that they're not more than they wouldn't
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: have gotten paid, say from somebody else, but that almost
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: made me believe him, because it wasn't somebody like try
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: and attack it. They were putting it up like kind
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: of like a look how high these are an ey
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: to myself, ten or fifteen or whatever. They have this
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: this this thing said they posedly got ten apiece.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: I saw that too. I saw the first they were
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: basing enough certain pay per view sales on one of them.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, that's not happening. But I can
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: still see what they made, you know, I could see
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: that not based off the pay per view revenue. But yeah,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: that's why I thought they would be.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: I don't know. And then like because I would believe
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: a number like this like like this, but but maybe
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: to risk it, I don't know, I don't know. Like
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: they they claimed Bacoli got six hundred thousand, I mean, yeah,
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: you know, he's heavy, not even getting a million bucks.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: Like if that, I don't know if that's true. That's
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: the thing. You don't know if it's credible. But like
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: I would have thought, and you saw what Fury Music
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: made and stuff, I would have thought, I if that
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: was accurate, I actually would have thought it would be
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: higher maybe right, right, but you know in this sense though,
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: it's very high. Like but I know why I wanted
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: to I know why I wanted to bring it up
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: though was and this would fit into the overpayment like
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: in terms of marketability. But this is a Turkey ala
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: chic thing. But his fans wouldn't see it. But to
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: me it jumped out. I mean, a guy who has
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: no entertainment value, no marketability bevol getting ten million dollars
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: for a rematch when he didn't get the decision in
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: the first fight. That's where I'm thinking, Like Eddie, this
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: is my theory. I don't think it's even conspiracy theory
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: because the circumstantial evidence there is, like it just seemed
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: to me like Eddie Hearn, Eddie Hearn was a hard
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: driver on that Bivol that rematch. Because see then I'm
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: looking at that like if there's anybody to me like
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: overpaid on that card, like for like a turkey overpaid,
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: think what you will, but I'm going to say it
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: because of the entertainment value marketability coming off the loss
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: of the first one, Bivol getting ten million dollars. But
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: that fits with That's what I mean, That's what I'm thinking, Like,
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: what's Eddie exactly? That's what I'm getting at, and I
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: think that is real. What's Eddie? That's what I exactly
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: what I'm good at. What's Eddie's percentage of that ten million?
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: You know, what's he getting out of that? Because Eddie's
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: heavily tied in with his own as well, So you
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: know that that's to me where I'm seeing like that,
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: that's a little bit of you don't even though these
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: were the two top guys in the division. I get
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: all that, and the fights were good, you know, they
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: weren't classics to me, but they were good, both of them.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: You know, there's definitely skill involved.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: But like you just can't get lost in the sauce.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: Eddie Hearn kind of pushing that readingmatch and then even
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: though it's post fight, well there was a little bit
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: pre fight. You had better BFA and I really didn't
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: want this fight. Yeah, but he but before the fight,
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: he was trying to go in a different direction for
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: a while too. I just think Hearn drove that, and
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: it makes me wonder, you know, with Hearn. Yeah, if
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: they're gonna have three, it'll be if he If Hearn
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: things involved, definitely definitely gonna win, Like, there won't be
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: a three if her things, there's any doubt.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: I think there'll be some about the move.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, so I'll call that one because I think
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: that all probably has to do with having another Canalo fight,
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: right yep.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: And speaking of to not have that much value after
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: you beat Canello, that's really telling exactly not a good sign.
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: You know, I agree a million percent, And I always
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: felt that was exactly what was so dramatic and correct, Chris,
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: Your point is exactly crucial and right, right, he got
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: a Canelo win, and the guy's style was so unappealing,
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: and he performed so poorly in terms of entertainment value
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: against lesser opposition. He did very little for his marketing value.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: Yeah, if Sadi wasn't there, he didn't parlay that.
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: And the ship really exactly, you know, I agree.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: Yeah, right, even if he goes he went on to
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: get a good winn or whatever, it's still like, man,
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: that's it's this is pretty crazy. And then it goes
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: to like kind of the run of the mill boxing stuff,
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: and it's like, well, how much influenced? Like what I
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: liked about Turkey at the start is the promoters didn't
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: influence him whatsoever. In fact, he wanted to talk to
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: the manager and the boxer first, then we'll talk to
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: the p and that's what I actually did, like that
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: because like, k that's how you do it. You know,
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: don't let anybody you know, skew the water. But now
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: you're tied in and you now you're ten percent of
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: the zone and now you're like, gosh, it's the start.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: You see him telling the guy he wants to win, Hey,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: you gotta win two rounds. You know, it starts to
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: be like run of the mill boxing. You know this
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: just we've seen this before, you know, so it's kind
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: of interesting. So a couple of things out of the box.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on, you know, the card that
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: they're having in New York. Obviously, Lopez and Barbosa is
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: a legit fight, you know, the main event isn't we
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: already talked about, you know, ro League, good for you,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: but it's not something I'm gonna be. This is run
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: of the mill. It's run of the mill stuff. Just go.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: We already said go. They both are out for a year.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Just fight Ryan Garcia Devin Haney. They got a rematch,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: then go to the rematch. Don't build up the rematch
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: because there's plenty of things to sell. I mean, he
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: but he got busted the pop positive, he knocked him
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: down a bunch. You can sell that right there. But anyway,
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: I'll always say that. You know, I do like that
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: other fight though, the the third fight on the bill,
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: which is weird, but I do like that. But what
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: are your thoughts on We don't know exactly how it's
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: gonna play out, but on the Times Square thing? Now,
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: should you just do the Wayne at Times Square and
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: having at a venue or just this maybe one off?
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: We talked about attention, We talked about eyeballs. I do
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: like that type of vibe. If you're not worried about
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: the gate, and you're if you're a fighter, not worried
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: about the gate. You know, if you sell tickets and
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: you're not getting compensated, that would suck. You're like, now,
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: why are we going to have this thing? But what
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: do you think of that? Because you draw some attention.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: I will say that draws some attention, but could it
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: just be done with a weigh in. I don't know.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: You know, these fights to be aren't the greatest. But
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: what I do like about the whole thing, I'm gonna
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: go yes in favor of it. What I like about
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: this card is Turkey Arashikh's doing a couple of things
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: that I've called for. He's he's he's trying, he's legitimately
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: trying to do something for US sensibilities, and he's doing
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: the media capital of the US, if not the worst world,
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: So Times Square, even if there's no crowd, I think
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: that's cool. I think since he I always I've always
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: taken the position, since the ring has been you know,
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: bought by Golden Boy and now Turkey al Sheet that
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: I'd still rather have somebody keep it going and for
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: it to die because of the history.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: And we are already with a promoter anyway.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: Right So if so, I think it is a pretty
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: good use of it. There's other things I'd like to
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: see him do, but at least with the promotional end
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: of it, the name doing it for you, using them
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: for a US sensibilities card in Times outside the use
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: of it, it's a good use of the name the
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: ring too, with the history, so I like all that.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: I just wish it was with fights of hair better.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: Like yeah, like I wish he was doing this with
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: like right, like with Haney and Garcia fighting each other.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: And then the code feature tale female Barbosa.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, now you know something like that.
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: That would be even though that does have a chance
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: to be a slow fight too.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: Obviously, right, but but that would be much much better.
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: But that would be much better to me, like just
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: doing something like that, I mean, that would be I
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: like what he's doing here. I just would like to
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: see the quality of matchups be just a little bit higher,
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: because if he wants to make a big splash with
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: the US sensibilities, he's throwing around a lot of money,
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: why not just maybe throw a little more around and
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: just have a little bit better fights. But in times
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: seem to run a block square block out. Well that's true.
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: I got to give him that. I don't know how
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: to put that off. I mean, that's it can't be cheap.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: That's impressive. I mean, I don't know, I don't that
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: part how. I don't know how he's pulling that part.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: Off, because the only other time I remember was the
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: Canelo in mayweather uh press conference, and they had it
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: in Type Square, you know, because they have like ten
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: cities they went to, remember, they went to Mexico, they
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: went to they went everywhere. But I do like it.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: I think it's a little outside the box, especially in
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: the revenue thing, where he obviously doesn't care a whole
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: lot about revenue per se. So it's like the fighters
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: are probably the main event, would get strewed if they
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: always did that, but they're not because of the pay
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: that he's given them. So I do like the outside
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: of the box. I think it is a way to
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: bring visibility. Whether that will rise to zone up or not,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: that's just something else. But I do like the attention.
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: It is eyeballs, it is word of mouth. There's a
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: lot of people from New York or vacationing that go
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: to that area and they're like, what's this all about?
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: You know, and you know they're going to paper it,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: like there's gonna be some advertising for it.
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: They'll get free they'll get a lot of free media
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: coverage in New York, which is exactly smart boxing is
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: not getting that like it used to. But this will
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: get it. It'll get it.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: It's nice to even see that billboard in New York
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: for this last fight. He's like, Hey, what do you know? Like, Wow,
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: let's get back to that. So I do like it.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: Some people think it's a little gimmicky, but I like it.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: I like the idea. It's not something I necessarily want
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: to do all the time, per se, but I do
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: like it. I think it's a worthy thing. Beyond what
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: you said. But that whole weekend, I hear, Oh, it's
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: going to be a busy weekend, But look at the
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: main events. John, you got Rollie and Ryan, you got
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Canelo fighting you know, skull, and then you got Anyway
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: fighting a fight that do we need? Do we need
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: that fight? So they say it's a busy week and
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: sinking them out. Yeah, but the main events are just showcases.
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: That's the way I look at it too. I mean,
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: Canelo is already a minus three thousand favorite. That seems
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: high to me. But still again, that's going to be
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: the perception going in. In a way, he's going to
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: be a monster favorite. Note Boss, So I'm with you exactly,
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: like those those are fights. Hey, that's where people got
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: to be realistic. Sure it's Canelo, Sure, it's in a way,
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: but they're not fights we need. They're just not so
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: so kind of like who cares.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like all busy. Yeah it's busy, but what's
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: that mean? You know, Like I just you know, that's
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: why we always bring up because you gotta if you're
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: gonna criticize, then be consistent. That's all we're saying. These
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: are run of the mill boxing fights. Doesn't say that
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: other promotional companies haven't made these exact type of fights
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: they have. That's our point. You're not changing anything if
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: you're doing just this shit.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: You know, and again what we're talking about we're already
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: seeing this is this is what gets senseless, Like, oh
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: Na Katani's gonna fight another guy with a with a
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: bank of belt who's who's well below them in a way,
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: and Na Katani should be fighting in a way, shouldn't
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: be fighting some mismatch. Kna Katani's fighting a guy who
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: it doesn't matter if he's got bantam white belts. Yeah,
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: he's gonna be a massive favorite. We don't need it.
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: Get these guys together.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: Before they get before it anyway gets out of his prime.
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: To me, he's he's in that kind of tank thing
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: like because weight he's at, he's moved up to it
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: all so you getting high, but he's taking the lesser opposition.
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: He's also in that boat. The fade could be any fight,
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: I mean, any fight could be the favor an away with.
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: And he's made it clear he doesn't want to go
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: to featherweight this year. Okay, cool? Then make the one
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: twenty two fight. Have Knakatani come up. Who's really tall? Right?
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: He can hold that weight? You know, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: It's just it's just so funny how it just gets
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: skipped man singing a mile bro it is stacked. It's like,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: I mean, if tail feel O Barbosa is the best fight.
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: I love it as a matchup at the at the
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: weight class, but to be honest, it could get a
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: little little like who's gonna, you know, playing tag in
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: a sense, it's not a great style match up really,
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: you know, per se.
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: Barbosa brings no power. He throws a lot, but he
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: brings no power and boxed because he likes to wait
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: the counter.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Yep. And Barbosa is not going to make those mistakes.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: Probably, I hope would be. Barbosa keeps his volume up
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: but if Barbosa started getting cautious and he and you know,
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: Barbosa doesn't bring any power.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: So totally legit fight though, love that part of it.
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: There's just no doubt about that.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: Now, totally legiti fight.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, And I'm glad they made it because that's
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: the fight that we've actually been talking about for about
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: a year or two, like, just make that fight or
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: some of these fights. So I do like that all
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: right real quick. So you know, originally we heard about
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: this this league right then it was kind of in
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: the background. Then the WBC came out with a you know,
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: thirty six thirty two participants in each division john one
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: hundred and twenty eight athletes. Wooh, these are good stats.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: Forty one participant in countries Okay, yeah, now you're talking globe, Okay, great,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: five magnificent events taking place in Saudi. No draws, decision
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: results in every fight. So are you going an extra
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: round then open scoring after two, four and six providing
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: transparency or trans yeah, and then instant replay A yeah. Yeah,
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: So there there's six and then I'm pretty sure once
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: you get to the final the eight rounders, which I
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: wish it was eight and ten if you're gonna do
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: it that way. But so you know how we said
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: that the league if there's only fifteen fighters in each division,
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: even though they'd be thinning out the divisions, which is
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: something we liked, it still is like, well, where are
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: the prospects? Then, dude, who's ranking the top fifteen? We
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: need to know that that's important right.
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: Now?
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Is this the prospect answer to that? Because it's two
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: different you know what I mean? Because now you hear
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: you know TK, you hear that they actually do have
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: something in the background, but they're gonna get paid. You know,
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: it's a league. What kind of league? Are they going
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: to buy up everybody? Like you said, we said that
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: in the start, if you're gonna have a league, you
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: better own everybody then. And we're saying that in a
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: in a boxing sense, not own people. But you know
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: that's what it is. It's contract. So what are we?
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: What do we what are we? What are we thinking?
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: I mean, what's I just say? I don't take the
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: WBC seriously. I think this is kind of an alphabet
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: example and maybe a little bit of some of the
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: other promoters are afraid of this Dana White TKO thing
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: possibly coming around reality with Turkey, HOWI chic behind it.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: It's just like the WBC to b being a cockrow
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: just trying to, you know, proactively find some sort of
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: survival stance. So I can't I can't see the WBC
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: can't pull something like that off.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: That's like four rounds with any kind of four rounds,
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: and then if you're dealing with and then the age
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: gap was twenty six and down, which actually could could
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: have a major advantage for the for the European fighters
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: that stay in and then come pro at twenty four
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: and they're like ready to go, you know, like, so
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: what's the first round going to look like? One through
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: thirty two? Are we gonna do it like Sweet sixteen
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: coming up? Or like to me, it sounds like a
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: bunch of mismatches and then oh we got a good
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: fight in the Setis I don't even know, like.
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: I under see it not again who's ranking it or
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: or if it came off, it would be of such
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: low quality. That's what I'm thinking was in it that
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: I don't I don't take it seriously. I've been just watching,
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: you know, is Dana White gonna get involved with Turkeyosh
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: and this TKO thing or you know, because you know,
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: I want the fighters to make as much as possible.
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: But with that understood, you know, boxing is just not
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: working the way it is, you know. I I'd rather
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: have something where you know, we got one champ less
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: weight classes and it's and it's organized. I mean, boxing
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: can have some charm with the chaos, but we need
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: somebody to put some order like that. I think PBC
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: wanted to do it, and you got the alphabet's getting
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: in the way and then kind of the obsolescence of
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: parts of the ALI act. I want the fighters to
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: make it as much as possible. Uh So you know
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: I'm all in favor of that. And if that's the
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: over can get out of hand and disrupt the market
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: exactly where it's just not functioning. Like I said, sometimes
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: we have to look at we've got we've got people
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: risking their brain health getting paid one thousand dollars a fight.
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: I mean, don't tell me boxing is working when that's
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: happening and there's no health insurance, no anything, So you
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: can't you know, like people don't look at the lower ends. Yeah,
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: I want the boxers to make as much as possible,
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: but it's really a travesty at the lowest levels.
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: Yes, so we know who can generate their own revenue
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: we already know. So the rest of the fighters, which
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: is the majority, exactly.
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: The majority, right, Yeah, there's nothing really set up for
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: them to make even adequate money because they got to
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: pay trainers and managers and promoters. If you've got to
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: pay your own.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: Training replacements random different states, you know.
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no real good way set up for them
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: to make any kind of money. The majority, the vast majority, boxers,
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: even with that high risk so.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: And the small promoters are getting pushed out the last
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: fifteen years, you know.
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: Exactly right, right, it doesn't work. So you know, if
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: you had kind of one organization like that captive, I
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: do think it would be better for the fighters on
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: the lower end. Yeah, now I hate to have cap
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: I mean to me, we're not getting that, you know,
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: you don't get that like in the UFC. But you know,
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: if you're what I'd like to see if they started
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: one of these things is like a true revenue share.
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: Like we saw how much the promotion was making and
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: it's like promotion is going to take blank and boxers
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: are going to take blank. Ye and hopefully a really
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: high percentage for the boxers. That would be like really ideal.
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: I'm not saying that's going to happen, but no, but
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: that would be like that, Yeah, that would be ideal.
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: Like we we don't get to see enough. I mean,
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: how much are the promoters making. It's never, it's never
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: out there.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, Like with managers, we know what they can make, right,
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: we know it's that thirty three point three or whatever
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: it is, that number, but not that many. You know
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: how it's almost crazy that at a smaller level those
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: managers are probably just you know, just taken. But once
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: you get a bigger then they actually take less percentage wise,
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: you know, like al it was ten years ago the
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: Sports Business Journal they had that couple in depths in
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: the articles that were really good. Actually, of course the
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: boxing media were just pissed that they didn't get it,
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: so they didn't really talk about that, but they actually
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: explained a lot of the potential goals and the whole idea.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: And they said in there that as the fighter, as
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: the Hayman fighter gets into the ten and fifteen and all,
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: that his percentage went down, so he already set the
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: standard of fifteen, which was not the standard before he
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: got in, and actually the standard for some people to
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: get a title shot, you'd have to give away five
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: percent of your rights for the rest of your career.
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: So some guys were getting four or five managers cut
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: up in there. It was horrible, you know what I mean?
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: But yeah, it's yeah, I don't know. I do have
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: more faith in the other one than this WBC. Would
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: you know every year.
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: They put a tournament together, this time they always take
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: stuff like that, right.
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: This one has more details. But I think it'll happen.
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: But like you said, I think it's gonna be mismatches.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: How long is this thing? So it's all in one
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: weekend or all in one night, or it's over the
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: whole year, you know?
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: You know me, I want I want the alphabets out.
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: I mean, wherever we're gonna go, I want the alphabets out.
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: So it's got to me. It's just got to start there.
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: There's no there's no place for it to get better.
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: With that minute.
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: And they said that their their fee, their promoter fee,
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: would be ten million dollars in a vet Now a
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: handful of years ago, you can make a lot of
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: damn good fights with that kind of money. Right now though,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: with you know, with just a coming in paying twenty
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: thirty forty minute, now Saudi paying thirty forty fifty, you know,
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know exactly. But then again, if
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: there's a shortage, because there's a lot of money out
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: what Steven Spinoza says, I think they could find a
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: lot of fighters and pay him solidly, you know, but
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: they said they'd get ten million an event.
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: You know, Well, one thing that maybe helps her fits in.
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: I did put it out on X I found. I'm
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: surprised he didn't get more attention because he you need
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: to see more of this. He talked about it and
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: intelligently and had the right points. Keyshawn Davis did lash
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: out and say, why the hell am I paying the
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: alphabet sanctioning fees? We don't need these people. I mean,
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: the guy is absolutely and he's a young he's a
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: young guy.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he's well studied.
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: He's absolutely right. That's what I like when he knows history.
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: But he's absolutely right. And he said was exactly right,
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: and I always saw it Keyshawn's way, I mean, just stop.
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: I mean, I think the fighters used to do it
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: more twenty years ago and stuff. I don't know what's
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: going on today, because you really need it even less frankly,
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: like like Keyshawan said, what what am I giving these
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: guys money for? We don't need this. I mean, you
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: know we're marketing it like we don't need that to
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: make the fight or anything like that. You know, there's all.
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: These how many unifications did Pat Yell and Mayweather fight?
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: Right exactly?
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: And tell you off the top of my head.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: No, you don't know exactly what I think.
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: It's zero, you know leny you know, and they dumped
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: the belt sometimes right after it. Yeah, I go after yourself.
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: I don't want I don't care. Circus, you're not what
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: what belt was Jake Paul Mike Tyson for right, Yeah,
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: I mean bel had nothing, nothing to do with it,
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: nothing to do with it. It just defeats this belt talk nobody.
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: You don't need. I mean, I would like to see
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: fighters like Keyshawn just say I'm not giving the alphabets
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: this sanctioning money. I mean people have done in the past,
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: they've gotten away from it now, but you don't you
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: don't need it. I mean, you know this is it's
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: just bullshit marketing, Like Canelo doesn't need to pick up
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: an alphabet belt from Skull before he fights Terrence Crawford.
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: But it's going to be two time John. You know,
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: this is for the history book.
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: I thank god Moro is not announcing that fun not
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: not saying that they won't do it.
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: Archives or talking about two time will become the two times,
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: one and six chip, you know, the first time, and
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: I'll be thinking, like, have you ever heard of Henry
- 1:50:32Speaker 4: Armstrong and you're fighting in four of the original eight
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: classes for one title, you know, picking up three out
- 1:50:38Speaker 4: of the four and having a draw in the fourth,
- 1:50:40Speaker 4: Like it's like an insult, you know, Like.
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: The reality is he gave him his belt, he's taking
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: it back, that's all, you know what I mean.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: At an alphabet weight I'm sorry, but you know, at
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: a at an alphabet weight class, we don't need Sure,
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: that's going back thirty plus years, but it's still true,
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: and you know, exactly like you don't need a us
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: Keishawn Davis gets it. He totally gets it. I mean,
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: I hope he keeps the same attitude. You know, he's
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: just one of an alphabet.
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: Help the people around him, Yeah, help guide his career.
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: Has that attitude because that's that's what needs happens Jenner
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: usually because he's not at the point to U fully
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: control it. I guess you could say, you know what,
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: I mean, he's really close to that. He could do it,
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: but you know, yeah, it's like alls it would take
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: is like a handful of people to do it. Then
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: it'd be the cool thing to do. You know.
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, it can happen. It can happen. But Knealo
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: is not helping with stuff like picking up this. But
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: again he's doing that for his interest because that's where
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: the alphabet stuff is crap, because and it's not just Canlo,
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: it's all of them. He knows that's an easier fight.
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: He's a minus three thousand favorite. But then there's a
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: marketing cell. Oh I need this alphabet belt, you know,
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: before I fight Crawford. So it's quote unquote unified, I
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: mean sort of going to give you a crap fight.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: And and but you know, I don't think anybody buys
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: it for that. I think they weigh over rate the
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: marketing Yeah value with that, I think they do. I
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: mean people want to see a good fight.
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly, And ultimately names are what do it?
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: Right exactly?
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: People that are going to watch the Crawford Canelo is
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: not gonna be like, dude, this is for They're gonna
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: be like, no, I know Crawford, he kicked the ship
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: out of Spence, right, you know that that's really what.
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to see if he can go up
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: and do this. That's all right, that's all exactly. It's
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: not about alphabet belts.
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right, Well anything else you want to
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: get off your chest or anything like that.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: Or no, that's about it, Chris, I think we got
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: it all covered.
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: Well tonight, there we go, all right, John, you have
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: a good night. How much going on this coming weekend? Now?
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: College basketball is about to take over everything for a
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: little bit.
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: Is playing Utah right now. I don't know what the
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: score is, but I.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: Was gonna say they're still right there trying to get
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: in there that thing.
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: Yeah there there. I think mind has got to be
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: in right now. But they mean this is their last
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: road regular game. They could use one more non home
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: court win.
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: Yeah, my and my gofers are trying to stay in
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: the actual Big Ten tournament. You know it's so big
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: now you can't be the last three to stay out
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: of the three just to get in the tournament. So yeah,
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: that's what we're we're coming to. All right, you have
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: a good one, have a good one.
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: Good talking about yes, sir.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: All right, So not a whole like I said, not
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: a whole lot of talk as far as this weekend goes.
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: Not to say that there's not fights. I mean, because
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: there is. By the way, Pro Box has got a card.
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: By the way, people out there, people out in the world.
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: If you haven't, if you haven't watched Pro Box, you should.
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: It's a lot of people go with the showbox thing.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: I don't see the showbox thing per se. I think
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: it's there's there's definitely some showbox ish to it. It's close,
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: it's showbox ish, but I would say it's closer to
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: like fairly solid Friday night fights ESPN mid level, you
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: know what I mean That that's what that's my personal
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: opinion on that. But it's solid. And you know, for
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: so long the mid level that we just talked about
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: the last ten years BBC popped off with all those
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: cards per year than ESPN and Top Rank and blah
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: blah match Room and his own and you know, we've had.
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: We have too much fights really on if we're being honest,
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: I've said that for years and that's just that's just
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: what it is. But you know, I'm a hardcore boxing fan,
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: so I'm gonna I'm gonna eat it up. But it's
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: just solid, you know, it's solid. They have enough money
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: to do what they gotta do. So yeah, I think
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: you should. You know, you can get the I would
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: it's on YouTube or whatever, but I pay for the
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: app because why not. It's very cheap. It's not much
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: to it, so it's not like you're you know, but
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: they do have like a full card and you should
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: check it out. Man. You know, you do have some
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: names that you may recognize. Joet Gonzalez isn't a featherweight fight.
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: There's a couple of six rounders that are interesting. What
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: is that cut kind of a guy? Is that? That?
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: Ernold dude? Uh? Nicholas Walters is back against the Vealezuela.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: That is Friday, sorry, Saturday, my bad, Saturday the eighth.
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: So yeah, like I said, it's super cheap, and why
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: not give them a little bit of in my opinion anyway,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: why not give them a little bit of money on
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: the app. It's not going to cost you much. It's
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: super cheap. So I do have the app. I've got
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: it up with it at times on YouTube, but I
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: just pay for the that not, you know, because it
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: doesn't cost you much. It's really cheap. So so the
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: zone does have a card from good old Fantasy Springs,
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: so that that's something to keep an eye on. Flores
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: Is the is the main event there. Flora is and uh,
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: it's like Jorge le Bas or something like that in
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: sky Sports, which is I'm sure you can find it
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: out there. It's not you know, it's from my understanding,
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: it's uh on Peacock anymore. But Natasha Jonas and Laura
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: Price and you have Dubois on their Caroline du Bois
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: among other fights. That's Friday night, Friday, I guess late
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: afternoon here you have you Bank McKenny. That's that's also Friday.
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: That's Channel five over there, So I mean you Zona
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: has another card Friday night as well, so you know
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Gonzalez Rodrigo as well. I forgot about that. Actually that's
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: in Philly. Yeah, that is in Philly, isn't it Okay? Yeah, anyway, sorry,
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: I totally forgot about it. I thought that was the
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: next week. So you know when these and that's on
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: b x n G dot TV. I always say it, like,
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: you know, these weekends, it doesn't It's like, oh there's
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: a pro box I'll check it out. Oh there's this
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: fight like that. That that UK fight, the first one
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: that I mentioned. You know, i'd say that's you know
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: the move. I guess, high profile fight, right, uh, Jonas
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: and in Price. So yeah, but I always say like,
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: you know, these weekends, man, sometimes shit just pops off
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: and you're like, wow, okay. You know, like I don't
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: think Daboise, you know, Caroline de Ball, I think she'll
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: handle business. Chloe Watson is in a very competitive fight,
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: and and you know, I think Lauren Price is. I
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: think Natasha has like an outside chance, but that it's
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: it's competitive. I think, uh, it's probably in the same realm. Actually,
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: let me check really quick on pro boxings dot Com. Yeah,
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: it's about the same mckennay. McKenna is plus two seventy
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: five plus three hundred, and that's right in the range
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: plus two fifty plus three fifty where Natasha's at. So yeah,
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: nothing too crazy, right, nothing too crazy, But yeah, let
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: me see he so, yeah, my opinion on that, Like
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: I mentioned on that, you know New York card, the card,
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: I don't love the card, but the outside the box.
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: I remember, I don't know who I had this conversation with,
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: but remember not long ago, how they were going to
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: have I want to say it was with the Zone,
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: but they were going to have a fight take place
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: on a skyscraper like that. There was a tennis match
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: on a skyscraper. I think there's been something else, you know,
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: even that, I don't, I don't mind. I did get
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: some message just here saying what'd you think of the presser? Yeah,
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: the pressure was pretty weak. Get Dougie out of there
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: for one just that'll that'll help right there. But yeah, no,
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: it was kind of you know, it's funny, the production
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: was kind of weak and they were having issues. Because
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: you have issues, it's no big deal. But yeah, I
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: did notice that. You know that Turkey had a lot
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: to say about the production and things happening and you know,
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: the PBC stuff, but then his ship was weak. But anyway, yeah,
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: I don't, I don't mind that at all, you know,
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: I don't.
- 2:00:36Speaker 2: I don't.
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: I don't mind that. I think that's pretty good. Okay.
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: So I got a message and I did see this
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: and I wanted to talk about it. So this was
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: from Boxing Voice, and I personally know nest Or Gifts.
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: I know ness, Okay, I've had conversation with them, and
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: for me, me and him talking, we're on this. We've
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: been on the same page. You know, We've had good conversations.
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: I've always been cool with them, you know, just to
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: be honest, you know. Now, he said something about Valezuela,
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: how basically the PBC is Al Hayman is biased towards
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: Hispanic fighters, right, Mexican fighters, Hispanic fighters whatever, right. And
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: I don't mean to say that, like whatever, right, but
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: I'm just saying that's what he said. And he used
- 2:01:37Speaker 1: Valenzuela as an example because all of a sudden, you know, basically,
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: he made it kind of sound like after the Cruise fight,
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: as an underdog, he should have got us like a
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: maybe not a stay busy, but you know, in easy
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: out or whatever, like like a decent fight and then
- 2:01:59Speaker 1: get challenged again. And we do see that, I mean,
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: his point, to his point, we do see that, you know,
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: in boxing a lot. But I just think this is
- 2:02:10Speaker 1: about like, first of all, like the Cuban and the
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: Dominican boxing in the last chunk of years, Right, who's
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: done more for because we're talking in general or not
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: just talking about Mexican fighters, right, So who's done more
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: for Cuban fighters? I don't know. I couldn't tell you
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: who else besides that I'm Dominican. I mean, who's had
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: the most Dominicans fighting originally you know, or at least tied?
- 2:02:46Speaker 1: You know, like I you know, it is what it is.
- 2:02:49Speaker 2: Right now.
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: You can say this fight should have been higher on
- 2:02:54Speaker 1: a card or you know, that's all fair. Some of
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: that I shouldn't say it's all fair, but that's a
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: fair Sometimes that's there. Other times it goes. Uh, It's
- 2:03:03Speaker 1: kind of happens organically too. If you if you fight
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: a certain style, guess what you know you're not gonna
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: get There's no matter if you have one hundred and
- 2:03:11Speaker 1: fifty fighters or forty fighters, there's gonna be a pecking order.
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: That's just how it goes. And Leo Santa Cruz got
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: a lot of shit for some of his fights he took. Overall,
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: he fought a lot of good competition, but the order
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: in which he fought them. Danny Garcia is another one
- 2:03:32Speaker 1: Puerto Rican American fighter who if you look at his
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: resume and it is stacked, but it was the order
- 2:03:40Speaker 1: in which people didn't like it. It's funny because as
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: he came to be a prospect to a contender and
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: a contender to a champion, he didn't get matched. He
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: got match hard with gold Boy, and they it didn't
- 2:03:50Speaker 1: look like they were invested in him for shit really
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: because they they gave him tough fights, tough fights as
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: a as a prospect and a contender, and then ultimately
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: he had to get over the hump. You know, he
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: was a you know, underdog to KM, knocked his ass out,
- 2:04:06Speaker 1: underdog to Mattias too. But then after that he got
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: the a side role for the most part, right, and
- 2:04:12Speaker 1: people had a lot to say. So it goes both ways.
- 2:04:15Speaker 1: Especially Leo Santa Cruz. I mean, I think he's a
- 2:04:20Speaker 1: very undervalued fighter, but I do understand at times the
- 2:04:23Speaker 1: order in which he fought guys, you know for sure,
- 2:04:27Speaker 1: But with Elanzuela, I just think I think that I
- 2:04:30Speaker 1: think this is a bad example, I really do, because
- 2:04:34Speaker 1: you know, he pulled Austin Dulay, he won that fight.
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: Actually I saw that fight because it was here. His
- 2:04:44Speaker 1: next fight, he got Francisco Vargas. We know where Francisco
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: Vargas was at that time. Now, maybe Ness wasn't talking
- 2:04:54Speaker 1: about that type of matchup. Maybe somewhere between Russell and
- 2:04:59Speaker 1: Vargas would ever. But he got it right. He got
- 2:05:03Speaker 1: that fight right after then he got the fight, went
- 2:05:08Speaker 1: three rounds right with Del Santos. He lost the fight.
- 2:05:13Speaker 1: So what he gets very in the next fight after
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: losing the fight to Edwin Del Santos, he got a
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: fight with Chris Colbert. So they're both in the same
- 2:05:23Speaker 1: boat where they're coming off losses, you know, because he
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: wasn't under he wasn't undefeated at that point. Chris Colbert,
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: he didn't get the decision. I thought he should have
- 2:05:33Speaker 1: got the decision. Many people did. They gave him the rematch,
- 2:05:38Speaker 1: So I just think and then he went up to
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: one for a belt. How many guys he'd beat at
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: one forty to get in line for a belt if
- 2:05:51Speaker 1: you want to do that, you know, So yeah, I
- 2:05:53Speaker 1: just think it's a poor example. It doesn't line up
- 2:05:58Speaker 1: with you lost the Deloos got Cobt. Many people, like
- 2:06:02Speaker 1: I said, Dot he won the fight, and they gave
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: him the direct remat. They gave him the fucking remat.
- 2:06:09Speaker 1: So it's like that doesn't line up, and then they
- 2:06:11Speaker 1: put him in with East SoC Yes, he was a
- 2:06:13Speaker 1: big underdog. It's like plus four hundred some places. I
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: think some places had it higher than four hundred, some
- 2:06:20Speaker 1: some like three something. Either way, he was clearly he
- 2:06:23Speaker 1: wasn't underdog in that fight. But you know, and now
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: to get Russell Russell and lost too, you know, and
- 2:06:31Speaker 1: remember like first of all, he's signing the dotted line.
- 2:06:35Speaker 1: Second of all, that was his seventeenth fight as a professional.
- 2:06:42Speaker 2: I mean.
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: That's moving a guy along. That's not just saying hey,
- 2:06:47Speaker 1: you know. You know, Invenzuela, some guys didn't have this
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: type of career where they're gonna get into real fights
- 2:06:52Speaker 1: earlier than other guys, and some guys have to beat
- 2:06:56Speaker 1: a prospect like Dulay and then they're in the mix
- 2:06:59Speaker 1: and it just happens organically. So I think it's like
- 2:07:02Speaker 1: I said, I'm I could text Ness right now and
- 2:07:06Speaker 1: he work cool. We're cool, all right. I got nothing
- 2:07:10Speaker 1: but positivity to say about Ness when it comes to
- 2:07:13Speaker 1: knowing him as a person. However, when it comes to this,
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: to me, that's seems like engagement because I don't. I
- 2:07:23Speaker 1: I just disagree strongly that Al Hayman is biased towards
- 2:07:29Speaker 1: Hispanic fighters, Mexican fighters, And all you gotta do is
- 2:07:33Speaker 1: look at what Leo Santa Cruz, the ship that he got.
- 2:07:37Speaker 1: You know, he lost to Frampton. What do he did?
- 2:07:39Speaker 1: He got the rematch? Okay, well, I mean, you know, like,
- 2:07:42Speaker 1: and he did get some fights that were like, eh, eh,
- 2:07:44Speaker 1: he's gonna stay busy whatever, you know. So I think,
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: like I said, I think Leo Santa Cruz very underrated.
- 2:07:52Speaker 1: I don't I think he is a Hall of Fame fighter.
- 2:07:55Speaker 1: When the guy like Frampton gets the Fighter of the
- 2:07:58Speaker 1: Year and you were the best win that year and
- 2:08:00Speaker 1: then you beat him, and a lot of people was
- 2:08:05Speaker 1: saying he ain't shit against Tank, and he fought well
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: against Tank and he got iced, he got ice, but
- 2:08:09Speaker 1: he did fight well, way better than people said he would.
- 2:08:12Speaker 1: So yeah, I just disagree with him. I just I'm
- 2:08:18Speaker 1: I don't think that's the case. But hey, that's what
- 2:08:21Speaker 1: this is all about. Nessa's from the old school as
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: far as his boxing thing. Don't forget about that. The
- 2:08:27Speaker 1: boxing Voice has been around a long long time, and
- 2:08:30Speaker 1: a lot of people forget that. You know, he's a
- 2:08:33Speaker 1: very hard working dude in this business. I would you know,
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: if you don't know that that that's on you. But
- 2:08:40Speaker 1: it doesn't mean I agree with that point, because I
- 2:08:42Speaker 1: do think that's like fishing for something, to be honest,
- 2:08:47Speaker 1: but that's my opinion. It is what it is. I
- 2:08:52Speaker 1: just I don't agree with that. I don't agree with that.
- 2:08:57Speaker 1: I think that's about it go too deep into it.
- 2:09:03Speaker 1: But yeah, dude, I hope they get a rematch. And
- 2:09:09Speaker 1: you know, Lamont, by the way, I should say Lamont
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: has uh all of a sudden, Lamont is like has
- 2:09:16Speaker 1: some options for fights, but obviously you know there's a
- 2:09:20Speaker 1: rematch clause. Got Javonte can exercise and I hope he
- 2:09:27Speaker 1: does because you know a lot of his fans fan boys.
- 2:09:37Speaker 1: Popular fighters always have the more fan boys, right, Cadelo, everything, everybody, pack,
- 2:09:42Speaker 1: Yel Mayweather, everybody, every the more popular are the more
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: fan boys, ye, right, And there's no excuse, uh, you know,
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: for his performance, there is no excuse. So it has
- 2:09:56Speaker 1: been funny to hear some stupid shit about him. But
- 2:10:02Speaker 1: like even Lamont saying he was scared. That's why I
- 2:10:05Speaker 1: put the rematch close. And it's like, all right, that's
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: a very that's that's a common thing. But I do
- 2:10:11Speaker 1: think there is something to that sparring that he in
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: the style and the inside fighting and the short punches
- 2:10:18Speaker 1: he was able to land. And so yeah, I really
- 2:10:22Speaker 1: hope they they they roll that thing back, you know,
- 2:10:26Speaker 1: it needs it. There was a report by Ring Magazine
- 2:10:32Speaker 1: The Ring has learned that representatives for Davant's actually hold on.
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: Someone sent me this, but did I see this on
- 2:10:42Speaker 1: brunch Boxing first? I don't. I didn't see it first, actually,
- 2:10:48Speaker 1: so I just remember people talking about it, So I
- 2:10:51Speaker 1: actually didn't track this either way. Shouts out the brunch
- 2:10:53Speaker 1: Boxing but this is in my message thing with a
- 2:10:57Speaker 1: screenshot of the ring. So they said, you know, but
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: I do remember now seeing it later. I believe that
- 2:11:05Speaker 1: bunch Boxing also reported or did report this. A representative
- 2:11:09Speaker 1: Tank Davis reached out to Top Rank talking about loma Chenko, which,
- 2:11:19Speaker 1: by the way, going into this fight anyway, that was
- 2:11:22Speaker 1: one against two. That was for lineal. Everyone likes to
- 2:11:25Speaker 1: talk about unifications and lineal and the man that fought
- 2:11:29Speaker 1: the man, it's still one against two. You could have
- 2:11:33Speaker 1: your you know, debate about it. You could say this.
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: You could say that clearly, especially Floyd when he was
- 2:11:42Speaker 1: running his career more, it had more input anyway, obviously
- 2:11:46Speaker 1: a lot more back then. It seems that that they
- 2:11:52Speaker 1: they were on their own pace and they weren't looking
- 2:11:54Speaker 1: to fight Loma. They actually, as much as I don't
- 2:11:58Speaker 1: agree with it, I do like how they just said it.
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: They're not going to sit there and boogieman people and
- 2:12:03Speaker 1: all that. They said, hey, we're on a different course,
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: right and then they and then they were ready to
- 2:12:07Speaker 1: fight him. And I think these last few years that's
- 2:12:10Speaker 1: when they should have fired. I think people like to say, oh,
- 2:12:13Speaker 1: seven years ago, bro, Now, if it would have happened
- 2:12:16Speaker 1: in like twenty twenty two, twenty one, twenty two, that
- 2:12:18Speaker 1: had been great. You know, twenty twenty two to twenty
- 2:12:23Speaker 1: three whatever. It doesn't appear Loma is one hundred percent
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: in his prime. But the you know, the Ring magazine
- 2:12:31Speaker 1: has some number two. In fact, I don't know, maybe
- 2:12:33Speaker 1: they knocked Tank down now, I don't know, I haven't
- 2:12:35Speaker 1: checked it, but you know, we'll see what Loma is
- 2:12:40Speaker 1: gonna do now. So it was the Tank side that
- 2:12:46Speaker 1: wasn't gonna fight. If that fight could have been made,
- 2:12:49Speaker 1: you know, negotiation wise, who knows, but clearly it was
- 2:12:55Speaker 1: not them one the fight. Now, I do blame Loma
- 2:12:59Speaker 1: this time, knowing his team, especially Loma, because they went
- 2:13:02Speaker 1: through a whole negotiation process and then he's like, Noah,
- 2:13:07Speaker 1: I'm good, I need some time off. Well, if you
- 2:13:10Speaker 1: need time off, you want to hang with your family,
- 2:13:11Speaker 1: you don't know if you're gonna fight again, cool, but
- 2:13:14Speaker 1: don't go through home negotiations so clearly you can you
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: can look at it now. I'm not saying. Look. Actually,
- 2:13:21Speaker 1: Tank even said that he doesn't think Loma's ducking him.
- 2:13:24Speaker 1: I don't think he's ducking him, per se. I don't
- 2:13:27Speaker 1: like the whole negotiation process, like you're gonna fight him
- 2:13:31Speaker 1: and then say I don't want to. However, with that said,
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: if you're having wishy washes about like kind of in
- 2:13:38Speaker 1: between about continuing fighting, it's a good chance you should
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: take some time off. Like he has to be honest,
- 2:13:45Speaker 1: you know I will give him that for sure. Like, hey, man,
- 2:13:48Speaker 1: if you're in between on us, you know you may
- 2:13:53Speaker 1: not want to take this fight. You know you may
- 2:13:55Speaker 1: not if your heart's not into it whatever. By the way,
- 2:14:00Speaker 1: according to moboxing, no problem that match Room has officially
- 2:14:06Speaker 1: reached out to Albert Bell for a fight with Raymond Ford.
- 2:14:13Speaker 1: And you know it's reported that he accepted it. Man,
- 2:14:17Speaker 1: please dude, please sign me up for that. That would
- 2:14:20Speaker 1: be man, that would be great. That would be great.
- 2:14:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:14:23Speaker 1: As far as my point, you know, as far as like,
- 2:14:31Speaker 1: what do I think would come from the challenging I
- 2:14:36Speaker 1: for lamont roach. You know, you have to do your
- 2:14:39Speaker 1: due diligence and you have to try to get this,
- 2:14:42Speaker 1: you know, not a loss. But if you didn't call
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: somebody was up on the apron, can you go back
- 2:14:54Speaker 1: in time and say you technically were on the apron? Yeah,
- 2:15:00Speaker 1: handed a towel to him like that. Stuff's not supposed
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: to happen. That's against the rules. And obviously him turning
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: turning your back is something we see throughout a year
- 2:15:12Speaker 1: too much in my opinion, without it being like, hey, man,
- 2:15:15Speaker 1: don't ever do that again, or I'm gonna dque you.
- 2:15:18Speaker 1: He did turn his back, He took a kneave, then
- 2:15:19Speaker 1: turned his back and then got help. But he didn't
- 2:15:24Speaker 1: fail a drug test. And so are they going to
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: go in there and say we're gonna change the scorecards
- 2:15:34Speaker 1: that should be ten to eight, which obviously would give
- 2:15:37Speaker 1: Lamont Roach to the win. I don't think they're gonna
- 2:15:41Speaker 1: do that. I think they're gonna say, man, we fucked up.
- 2:15:45Speaker 1: Hope you get the rematch. Now if they did do it, yeah, man,
- 2:15:49Speaker 1: you know I do want I'm glad he's pushing it
- 2:15:52Speaker 1: because I want to. I want to know the truth, Like,
- 2:15:55Speaker 1: what what's up? Did you have the video replayer not?
- 2:15:59Speaker 1: Did you have access to it? Could it be on
- 2:16:01Speaker 1: a phone? Could it be this? Could it be? Yeah?
- 2:16:03Speaker 1: I need to know all that shit. You know. I
- 2:16:05Speaker 1: will say that because it sounds real fishy, but uh,
- 2:16:10Speaker 1: pretty easy call to make, especially when you know the
- 2:16:17Speaker 1: ref was already counting. Let's go low boxing Twitter, j
- 2:16:21Speaker 1: Row says really annoyed with people saying Tank had an
- 2:16:24Speaker 1: off night. What was the off night about? He didn't
- 2:16:27Speaker 1: get the stoppage. He fought like he always fights. The
- 2:16:31Speaker 1: only issue is that Roach could take the power and
- 2:16:33Speaker 1: wasn't afraid to punch Tank back. He can't knock everyone out.
- 2:16:36Speaker 1: Tank was found out. Well. The problem with that is
- 2:16:41Speaker 1: Tank has gone the distance now Esac Cruz and Lamont
- 2:16:47Speaker 1: two different fighters, right, I think Lamont's a better fighter,
- 2:16:50Speaker 1: but he has gone the distance, so it's not about
- 2:16:54Speaker 1: he didn't find out. Uh Esak wasn't going anywhere either.
- 2:16:58Speaker 1: You know, he hit him with some hardjot. He wasn't
- 2:17:00Speaker 1: going anywhere. So I I don't think that was his
- 2:17:03Speaker 1: best night an off night. Yeah, do you think he
- 2:17:08Speaker 1: was focused in that ring? It looked real fucking sketchy.
- 2:17:12Speaker 1: But I also think, like I mentioned, the inside work,
- 2:17:16Speaker 1: and I do think there is something to be said
- 2:17:18Speaker 1: about the sparring. Now, some people want to say, oh,
- 2:17:20Speaker 1: he didn't want to release the beast boss, he didn't
- 2:17:24Speaker 1: want to really let his good shit go on his friend, eh.
- 2:17:29Speaker 2: I I.
- 2:17:32Speaker 1: Don't know. I I just assumed to believe that sparring
- 2:17:39Speaker 1: that he learned a little bit more about Dramonte and
- 2:17:42Speaker 1: he had an answer for some of the stuff. That's
- 2:17:45Speaker 1: what I think. I don't know, you know. And I
- 2:17:52Speaker 1: think that the little you can look at tape until
- 2:17:55Speaker 1: you get in the ring with someone. You always say
- 2:17:58Speaker 1: that in all sports, but especially box, and I think
- 2:18:02Speaker 1: there's something to be said about already seeing some of
- 2:18:05Speaker 1: his good ship and some of his little tricks and
- 2:18:07Speaker 1: crafty stuff and stuff he likes to do. I don't
- 2:18:12Speaker 1: know how many rounds are, how many times they sparred,
- 2:18:14Speaker 1: but from I do think that played into it a
- 2:18:17Speaker 1: little bit anyway, and I think both of them can
- 2:18:23Speaker 1: actually work. I think they can both improve on their
- 2:18:27Speaker 1: performance slightly because I think Lamont can be a little
- 2:18:30Speaker 1: bit busier early. Now you don't want to be too
- 2:18:32Speaker 1: busy and open up. But the way he was able
- 2:18:36Speaker 1: to counter him and go tit for tack with him,
- 2:18:40Speaker 1: that really impressed me on the inside. So I see
- 2:18:44Speaker 1: what he's saying, but I don't you know, I don't know,
- 2:18:48Speaker 1: he said. Gervonte did say the rematch could be soon too,
- 2:18:51Speaker 1: like the end of May, which I think that'd be cool.
- 2:18:53Speaker 1: And this is will lam lamonts was saying la Lamont
- 2:18:57Speaker 1: was saying uh and saying no more. I'm pushing for
- 2:18:59Speaker 1: the rematch. Ter Javonte two D He said, f you
- 2:19:03Speaker 1: meaning you know, put He's like, what do you mean?
- 2:19:06Speaker 1: Push the contract? You know, I'm pushing for it. That
- 2:19:09Speaker 1: my contract already sign and set for the immediate rematch,
- 2:19:12Speaker 1: because you put that in just in case you lost.
- 2:19:15Speaker 1: Only reason we don't fight is because you're scared, That's
- 2:19:18Speaker 1: what he said. So yeah, man, I think they they
- 2:19:22Speaker 1: do have a storyline now, and let's see if it
- 2:19:26Speaker 1: was an off night or not, or does Lemon improve
- 2:19:31Speaker 1: in that first half of the fight, because if he
- 2:19:34Speaker 1: just won another round or two, especially just one, you know,
- 2:19:41Speaker 1: once he got into it. Though, I really liked what
- 2:19:44Speaker 1: I saw of the month, and I stand by my
- 2:19:46Speaker 1: word before I admit I never picked him to win.
- 2:19:50Speaker 1: I didn't put money on the draw, but I did
- 2:19:53Speaker 1: say over and over that he's being undervalued. And this
- 2:19:57Speaker 1: whole bringing people up Lamont roach is not small dude.
- 2:20:02Speaker 1: So this whole bringing guy up, bringing guy dude, I mean,
- 2:20:08Speaker 1: in that case, it's I understand he doesn't allow power,
- 2:20:12Speaker 1: but he doesn't fight with power. He has enough pop.
- 2:20:17Speaker 1: Though it appears to me he had enough pop, so
- 2:20:21Speaker 1: I didn't think the weight had shit to do with it.
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: And now everybody's like, hey, man, fight Keshan, fight this guy.
- 2:20:28Speaker 1: Oh oh, Now all of a sudden, it's not huh huh.
- 2:20:31Speaker 1: And then you have the other side that are just
- 2:20:35Speaker 1: gonna hate tanks saying, oh he had a cherry pick
- 2:20:37Speaker 1: gone wrong. Well, if he rematches it, that's what I
- 2:20:41Speaker 1: hate about nowadays, the cherry pick gone wrong. They did
- 2:20:45Speaker 1: this the wilder all the time, Fury the first fight
- 2:20:48Speaker 1: man is a cherry pick gone wrong, so wrong that
- 2:20:52Speaker 1: they fought him twice and the second time he got
- 2:20:55Speaker 1: his ass whoops, and he still fought him again. But
- 2:20:59Speaker 1: it was a cherry gone wrong. Say it at the
- 2:21:02Speaker 1: start and then don't repeat it if old boy runs
- 2:21:05Speaker 1: it back with the guy cherry pick gone wrong. So
- 2:21:10Speaker 1: wouldn't you take that drawn dip? Then if it was
- 2:21:12Speaker 1: a cherry pick, it's just Actually, the the AJ negotiations
- 2:21:18Speaker 1: fell off, so Feary was there. He said let's do it,
- 2:21:21Speaker 1: you know. So yeah that was That's how he's silly too,
- 2:21:24Speaker 1: But yeah, that's it's funny to hear the fanboys freaking out.
- 2:21:30Speaker 1: You know, it just is what it is. It's just
- 2:21:35Speaker 1: but I do think he has a you know Floyd
- 2:21:39Speaker 1: Like people say, oh, Floyd never had an off night?
- 2:21:41Speaker 1: What so Floyd just fought at one level the whole time.
- 2:21:45Speaker 1: He never had no off night? Did you watch Floyd's career,
- 2:21:49Speaker 1: to watch anybody's career, Like, come on, dude, what do
- 2:21:52Speaker 1: you mean no off nights? So I don't say it
- 2:21:55Speaker 1: being an off night all the way, but I don't
- 2:21:58Speaker 1: think that's his best. But I also think, like I mentioned,
- 2:22:02Speaker 1: Lamont can improve. Anyway, I'm gonna get out of here.
- 2:22:05Speaker 1: I'm stumbling now, I'm just going over shit. Anyway, be
- 2:22:10Speaker 1: back next week, enjoy the fight, something might pop off.
- 2:22:14Speaker 1: Peace
