- 0:11The thing is though, now that you say that, I can't see it.
- 0:13You're absolutely right. After we're playing, let's let's
- 0:15talk about that first because. I was going to go in a totally
- 0:17different direction. You can make as much money as
- 0:20you need and work your way towards any ship in the game.
- 0:23They they were trying to cash in off of that nostalgia and that
- 0:27hype. Happy New Year.
- 0:31All you good looking mother fathers hanging out there.
- 0:35I see you. I feel you.
- 0:36I hear you. You're with me here together in
- 0:41this room, but I'm not alone. We're we're, we're not just the
- 0:44two of us here. I know it's sad, but today we
- 0:48have very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very blue Co
- 0:52host Lord Anubis. Lord Anubis, thank you for
- 0:55joining me and all of our guests on Open Comms Radio.
- 1:00And with that intro, I'm sliding my seat like a couple inches
- 1:03back. That was a little creepy.
- 1:06That was too much. Nope, I just feel.
- 1:08Fascinated. You're like touching them.
- 1:11Literally I'm. Like I'm like I'm vibing.
- 1:16Yeah, yeah, it's a little. Like I just, I just want to vibe
- 1:21and play video games, feel me. I feel you.
- 1:27So today is a special day. Why is that?
- 1:34Well, it's like the end of the year.
- 1:37The Pico ball is about to drop. The Pico Ball is about to drop.
- 1:41Fireworks about to light up the skies.
- 1:44Who is it? Fireworks.
- 1:45There's a Drake ship exploding. No, nobody knows.
- 1:48Nobody can tell. 2025 coming to an end.
- 1:51It feels like just yesterday 2025 was coming to a start.
- 1:56You catch me? You feel me?
- 1:58Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
- 1:59Yeah, see, it's not that weird. Wow.
- 2:03But to think about where we were at the beginning of that year
- 2:09and the hopes that we didn't think we're going to be
- 2:12fulfilled. Well, where were we?
- 2:16Do you even remember? Well, we didn't have Pyro, we
- 2:20didn't have Nicks. You know, we, we didn't have,
- 2:25I'd say half of the popular content we have now.
- 2:28Worms. We didn't have any worms.
- 2:31We did not have any worms, we just got worms.
- 2:34Maybe we'll get lice next. No snacks.
- 2:37Yeah. Yeah, a lot of good stuff.
- 2:39A lot, a lot to cover this year. And so at this time of the year
- 2:44on Open Comms Radio, you don't know because this is the first
- 2:46time. But what we do is we do a year
- 2:48end wrap up show. It's a brilliant idea.
- 2:51I thought of it all by myself. I said, you know, all these
- 2:55things happened during the year. What if we got together at the
- 2:58end of the year and, and, and remembered those things and
- 3:01recalled them and thought said like, oh, I love that.
- 3:04Or oh, I didn't like that. So I'm calling it Opencoms radio
- 3:08year end. Super superb all the time, but
- 3:12only 2025 spectacular. Copyright.
- 3:16TM Yeah, not soon now. So what we're going to do today
- 3:22is we're going to bring on up our callers and our guests and
- 3:25we're going to talk about what was the best of the year and
- 3:27what was the worst of the year. Anubis, you know for you what
- 3:30was the best. You know, I'd, I'd say the pace
- 3:35of development, I, I know that, you know, it's, it's something
- 3:42that, you know, we just expected to happen.
- 3:45But I mean, it really did ramp up this year.
- 3:48And just seeing the, the work that they're actually putting
- 3:51into it and seeing it actually pay off this quickly, I think is
- 3:56probably the best part. Because I knew this stuff was
- 3:59going to be coming. I knew stuff like this was going
- 4:01to happen. It's just a matter of when.
- 4:04You felt in your bones. Yeah, right.
- 4:08Right in the marrow, you know? So the, the pace, you know, I
- 4:12think a lot of people can say in that the, the, the releases,
- 4:16like, you know, they said one a month, 1 patch a month, and I'd
- 4:21say every patch of the month has been pretty solid.
- 4:26They were all pretty good. Oh yeah.
- 4:28Oh yeah. I mean, probably the best
- 4:33content put out so far. And with, you know, they added
- 4:37game modes and the I'd say more areas to do your dailies, it's
- 4:46really given the game a lot more life and the 700 player shards,
- 4:50you know? Oh yeah, I mean, what were we at
- 4:53the beginning of the year last year, A year ago we yeah, I feel
- 4:58like yeah, because now we're regularly over 500.
- 5:02Oh yeah, we didn't have that last year.
- 5:05It was maybe, I don't know if someone else would be able to
- 5:09tell us for certain, but I mean, it wasn't long ago we were at 50
- 5:12player servers. So Oh yeah, maybe two years ago,
- 5:1650 players. So they go from 50 to 500
- 5:19regularly. More like 800 sometimes now too.
- 5:24Yeah, and, and looking at the the early meshing tests where
- 5:29800 is like, oh wow, we got 800 people in here.
- 5:32But it was just, it was, it was you couldn't walk, you know, we
- 5:37don't even notice. Yeah, well, I notice, I noticed
- 5:42the the folks running around, you know, people are trying to
- 5:46talk to me. I've had people try to chat me
- 5:48up. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 5:50People ask me if I'm vibing and stuff every once in a while.
- 5:54Oh, yeah, yeah. You know you don't get that.
- 5:57No, no, no. Well, people usually just throw
- 5:59things at me. Yeah, you should change your
- 6:01character's face. I didn't mean to talk to you
- 6:04about that. Is it because I'm blue?
- 6:06You know, it's just, it's not for everybody.
- 6:09I mean, I'm OK with it. I like the way you look, but I
- 6:13don't like, I don't like some other things that happened.
- 6:17What what didn't you like? What was the worst, the worst of
- 6:20the year? You know, it is it is quite a a
- 6:24train to ride to this point and I'd say the worst was the the
- 6:33pit. Well, the the exploits that have
- 6:36come across, you know the game, I'd say the, you know, the worst
- 6:41is still not being able to tamp down the gold selling.
- 6:43I mean, you can get billions for like $10.
- 6:47I mean, it's ridiculous and it's completely destroyed.
- 6:51You know, a lot of the a lot of the reason to try to truly build
- 6:55in the game at the moment. So I'm hoping that goes away.
- 6:58I'm hoping they fix that. But that that is that actually
- 7:01really was the worst besides the things like the other exploits
- 7:07where you had you, you have being able to get through doors
- 7:11with a package that they still haven't fixed, being able to
- 7:16blow up a Perseus with a, you know, but they did fix that one,
- 7:19but it was pretty bad for a while.
- 7:22What do you mean blow up a Perseus?
- 7:24With what? With a with an Aurora, if you
- 7:27wanted to you could just hit it. That was that was there for like
- 7:30a two days I feel. Was a little longer than that,
- 7:33but. Really.
- 7:34I don't remember. OK, OK, OK, OK.
- 7:36OK. All right.
- 7:38Well, we had some some people call on in, some people write in
- 7:43about their best and the worst for 2025.
- 7:46And this is our New Year's party here at Open Comms Radio.
- 7:49So everybody get funky where your where your highest heels
- 7:53paint your nails. Yeah, maybe you got some
- 7:56feathers you've been wanting to, to, to put on.
- 7:58This is this is your moment. This is your, your night here.
- 8:02So what we're going to do is first Lord Nubis, I want to read
- 8:04a couple of our Ask the Couch comments before we start
- 8:07bringing people in about their best and their worst for 2025 in
- 8:11our ask the Couch chat. So if you can't make the show,
- 8:14you can always write in our little discord.
- 8:16In the Ask the couch we had Wild Card.
- 8:19Wild card said oddly the best thing in 2025 was in my opinion
- 8:26the improved stability, ASD missions and new ships.
- 8:29I think the worst was patch management.
- 8:32Even though overall stability was better than previous years,
- 8:36it still has a long way to go. And a wild card voice too.
- 8:43Yeah, yeah. I don't know.
- 8:44I don't know patch management. So I think what he's referring
- 8:47to is, is the the bugs and stuff that popped up kind of you were
- 8:52kind of echoing their Anubis. Oh, losing ships, losing items,
- 8:57you know, having a having a download a hotfix and use a
- 9:01hotfix channel and then download that and then Oh well, now it's
- 9:06the main folder again. Let's go ahead and download
- 9:08that. You know, I can see how that
- 9:11that comes across. I would say specifically losing
- 9:14things like an entire Polaris, which I've heard of people
- 9:17having happen, even a Wicklow Polaris, which is insanely hard
- 9:21to get, but losing that to a patch sucked.
- 9:26It's actually hurt to see that like in chat.
- 9:30See, that's vibing dude. That's feeling.
- 9:31You feel him, he feels pain. It's an empathy thing.
- 9:35Give me your pain, feel me your. Pain.
- 9:38OK, we got one other comment there.
- 9:40Can you see it, Anubis? From Raven Raven Fort OK.
- 9:47One moment I can read it, Raven Fort said.
- 9:51I would say being on schedule with the patch and completing
- 9:55the objectives was a good change.
- 9:57The worst flight blades and the whole thing around it.
- 10:05And then I, I did the I did the the point up of OG to let people
- 10:09know I agree with him about the flight blades.
- 10:12I feel like we're going to get a lot of that as as as the worst
- 10:15today. Real quick.
- 10:17I'll say my best and worst were the same thing.
- 10:20They were resource drive. Yeah.
- 10:23Best thing in the game was resource drive.
- 10:25Worst thing in the game? Resource drive for the whole
- 10:28year. But that was probably just
- 10:30because that's when I was most active there, you know?
- 10:32Well, it had some great moments. I mean, honestly, and it really
- 10:37gave people like, I think a lot of moments of random kindness,
- 10:44which was really cool for as much as there was trolling.
- 10:47Like, OK, yeah, there's trolling, but there was a lot of
- 10:49people just, like, actually came together and helped each other
- 10:51and just became a community. Yeah, that people are like
- 10:56leaving the the Max behind and stuff the tractor beam Max.
- 11:00So you'd go to the place and there'd be like two or three of
- 11:02them there and then I'd be filling up people.
- 11:05But it was also part of it I think was the the angst of like,
- 11:09OK, it's working now and now there's a line.
- 11:12So let's just get this line through so I can get my boxes
- 11:15because, you know, it's working this time.
- 11:18Who knows if it's going to work next time.
- 11:21So I don't know how much of it was goodwill just to just to put
- 11:23a damper on on your positivity. I don't know.
- 11:26Altruism, even if it's not for the best intentions, still is
- 11:29altruism for someone else. There you go, and on that, we
- 11:33will introduce our first caller of the evening, someone you
- 11:37know, someone you love, someone who knows all the secrets.
- 11:41Cosmic Hobo. Thank you for joining us here on
- 11:44Open Comms Radio. This week's question What's the
- 11:47best and worst of 2025? The best I would say has been
- 11:53yes, the stability. It has been a year of stability.
- 11:55I I for one, love that A30K isn't just the end of the night
- 12:01anymore because that's how it used to be.
- 12:05It used to be you hit a 30K and you'd be just, you'd done for
- 12:09the evening. It's like, OK, because whatever
- 12:13mission you're on would be gone. Your ship might not even be
- 12:17there and everyone else and it would take like 30 minutes to
- 12:21come back. That was that was awful.
- 12:27Like we talked about a lot of the, there's still of course
- 12:31plenty of issues with instability and bugs and
- 12:35everything, but the fact of the matter is that if a server
- 12:39crashes, it's not just the end anymore.
- 12:44Like I, I remember doing OverDrive and whenever the
- 12:49server crashed because OverDrive was, I miss events like
- 12:53OverDrive that were big events. Lot of people, we could do those
- 12:58now, but then can you? Refresh my memory, hobo what?
- 13:05What's the OverDrive? OverDrive was so it was a multi
- 13:11stage event where you had these, just some of the missions they
- 13:17made us do were very long. Like one of them involved a
- 13:22bunker and you had to defend that bunker for multiple waves,
- 13:27like 8 waves or something ridiculous.
- 13:30And there was a timer. And if the server even just
- 13:34hiccups, like just a slight hiccup in the server, the
- 13:40mission would be lost. You'd have to start all over and
- 13:42it would be like an hours of worth of work that you'd have to
- 13:45go back and do again. Exhausting.
- 13:49So that's, that's been the best part for me is that even when
- 13:54the servers are just garbage, because we've all felt it, we've
- 13:59all known it is that sometimes the servers are just garbage.
- 14:05That's not necessarily the end of the night.
- 14:08And unless, unless the login servers are bad, you just had to
- 14:14deal with it and it's, and it's easier to deal with now than
- 14:18before you. Even though it still sucks and
- 14:21it's still stuff, rubber banding, player markers not
- 14:26appearing, things like that, it's still a significantly more
- 14:30stable game than it was a year ago.
- 14:33So your best is just stability. General stability.
- 14:38I agree with you. The worst part, though, is
- 14:42probably, well, OK. The worst part was resource
- 14:45drive. I hated resource drive.
- 14:47Oh, OK, OK, OK, dive into. The How dare you challenge jar
- 14:53jar? It was.
- 14:54So. Grindy and it was so just
- 15:00ridiculously. I know they wanted to make it a
- 15:04pain in the ass to do multiple teams per SE, but like doing
- 15:13just one was fucking exhausting. And then it just broke at the
- 15:20end and made it vastly easier to complete.
- 15:23Which kind of pissed me off a little bit because it was such a
- 15:26pain in the ass. And I spent so long doing like 2
- 15:31of of the teams 2/2 of the the corpse.
- 15:36And then it broke and became vastly easier and took a
- 15:41fraction of the time. And like it should have I I felt
- 15:45like I wasted my time. Then I don't feel like any of
- 15:49the other events necessary, even the ones that I would consider
- 15:53like filler events, felt like a waste of time like resource
- 16:00drive did and that that early those early parts.
- 16:04But only because it broke so often.
- 16:07It broke. That's why it's the worst.
- 16:09If it didn't break it, it, yeah, it's my best and my worst, you
- 16:12know, so. I I feel you about it.
- 16:15Breaking and and and the grind because I was there for the
- 16:19grind, dude. You know, you wake up in the
- 16:21morning, drink a cup of coffee, you.
- 16:24Yeah, dude, rising grind. I get it.
- 16:27I I respect it. I I don't, I don't agree with
- 16:30it, but I respect it. But hobo bar bar go up.
- 16:36Bar go up and I'm a big fan of bar going up.
- 16:39Don't. Don't let anyone tell you that
- 16:41hobo don't like a bar going up. Hobo loves bars.
- 16:44I love bars and that I love seeing them go up.
- 16:46Like I like seeing that green. Like it's great.
- 16:50Cool bar go up bar good. What about a red bar?
- 16:53Red bar not so good, but. Blue bar and.
- 16:56Some blue blue bars. Confusing.
- 17:00Purple bar. Purple bar is.
- 17:03I don't know what to do with purple bars, but red bars can be
- 17:06opportunities. I thought we were vibing but
- 17:09whatever. Sorry.
- 17:11So yeah, my best would be just, I, I think that they've lived up
- 17:16to general stability and playability despite all the
- 17:21problems we still face. But then on the flip side of
- 17:24that is we, they, they have limitations on the events that
- 17:29they can do with it. Is that weird thing where they,
- 17:33they, they focus so much on content this year for events
- 17:37when their pools for said events feel more limited than they did
- 17:44before charting, before mesh server meshing.
- 17:50Because they, I mean, they have explicitly said CSG has
- 17:53explicitly said they've lost a lot of their missions because of
- 17:57the way that meshing works. And yet they still decided to
- 18:03double down on events and content this year, which I those
- 18:10two things kind of work against each other because the stability
- 18:13part, yeah, we we saw that with resource drive with freight
- 18:17elevators. Like I know some people said
- 18:19freight elevators were like the worst thing this year and I get
- 18:21it. But then they made those
- 18:24important. For that specifically because of
- 18:25resource drive. Yeah, that's like that.
- 18:28That's that's such a like a, a a scar on on everyone's heart.
- 18:34But fuck, I forgot. I was going to say Anubis helped
- 18:39me. He's not even here. 75% of
- 18:45players would not have interacted with freight
- 18:47elevators until resource drive I don't think.
- 18:49No, I see. I think that was one of the most
- 18:53ridiculous things that they actually claimed.
- 18:56I, I just don't, I don't believe that everybody had to deal with
- 19:00an elevator of some sort, you know, and.
- 19:03Elevators, yeah, but the the planet side freight elevators,
- 19:06how many people use those in the regular base and regular basis?
- 19:09Only if you're running cargo. And it's, it's usually picking
- 19:13up like tiny things. I don't know any big cargo
- 19:16runners are, are, are are out there doing stuff because like,
- 19:19you know, they, they had those interstellar missions.
- 19:22Yeah. But it's like, there's no reason
- 19:28right here. Well, if if you were actually
- 19:31moving stuff, you know, if medical supplies and they needed
- 19:33them, you actually had to bring them there, that'd be like a
- 19:35really cool thing to do. Yeah.
- 19:39But because it, it doesn't really matter, it doesn't affect
- 19:42anything on the, you know, unlike the delivery side, you
- 19:46know, you can, you drop off the medical supplies, but it's the
- 19:50destination isn't actually getting more medical supplies,
- 19:52right? You're just getting money and
- 19:54it's zeroing out. It's just like resetting or
- 19:56whatever. That's like the other part of
- 20:00that that that they need to hopefully we'll bring on in in
- 20:042026 there, but. Dynamic economy.
- 20:06It's it's, we need it. We really need a dynamic
- 20:11economy. Yeah, I think our next guest is
- 20:14going to want to talk a lot about the economy.
- 20:16But before we bring him up, Lord Anubis, I want to read just one
- 20:20more from the Ask the Couch cause 'cause we got a few here.
- 20:25And if you're just tuning in this this week is the last week
- 20:29of the year and this will be the last week of Open Comms Season
- 20:331. I didn't know we were doing
- 20:35seasons, but we're. Seasons now.
- 20:37I think I've decided, so this will be the last episode of Open
- 20:40Comp season 1 and we're doing, I had this great idea.
- 20:43We're going to do this thing and we're going to review the whole
- 20:45year. Nobody's ever done this before,
- 20:48but we're going to take a look back at the year and see what
- 20:50was the best and and what was the worst.
- 20:52And so we asked our listeners to pop some things in here on the
- 20:55Discord to leave some comments. We got one comment, Lord Anubis,
- 20:59if you're ready to read it. One comment from Duke Lato LL.
- 21:05Duke Lato LL Latol. Duke Latol, OH.
- 21:10Duke Latol. Duke Latol like a Latol like a
- 21:14like. Like a Latol booth?
- 21:16Yeah. That's a Latol.
- 21:18Oh, it's French. Oh, it's a French.
- 21:21See, that's why I don't. Yeah, he's he's French Latol.
- 21:24Leto, OH. You go and pay it the and.
- 21:28It's. Not Duke.
- 21:30Then it's Duke. Do it.
- 21:32Yeah, it's. Two, it's two tolls, so.
- 21:36Out of respect for him, Anubis, could you try to read it in his
- 21:39native accent as Duke? Do Little.
- 21:42What have you read? Little?
- 21:44Little. They they famously, you know,
- 21:48managed all the turnpikes in in in France.
- 21:56OK, here we go. Well Bess has got to be
- 21:59stability. It's good now.
- 22:02It's possible to take it for granted, but for those of us
- 22:06who've been around for a while, remember what a struggle it was
- 22:08to play worst. I'd say the lack of delivery on
- 22:13a couple things. Blades as a concept or in game
- 22:18but they are very limited and they went straight to a pay to
- 22:22win screw up. Engineering is in, but it
- 22:26doesn't really affect gameplay at the moment.
- 22:30And that's our comment from Dual Little.
- 22:33Little. So our next guest we're going to
- 22:37bring up here is someone you know, he's hosted this show
- 22:40before. It is Duke Lato the Second.
- 22:44Duke Lato the Second joining us here on Open Comms RADIO.
- 22:48Duke, you are here on the couch live with Jar Jar Jabroni.
- 22:53That's me, Lord Anubis. That's my Co host and cosmic
- 22:57hobo who's sitting on the couch sweating sweating bullets and
- 23:01and we're talking about what's the best and what's the worst of
- 23:042025. I hate you guys so much.
- 23:09Why that's you just got in here, that's what you're going to
- 23:13open. With, that's what.
- 23:14That's what we're opening with Duke Lado.
- 23:17The second don't I's. It's two I's, not L's.
- 23:21Oh, except for the stupid. Show's credits, which I believe
- 23:25still has it as. As the two.
- 23:27Intro. You're.
- 23:28The. Guy from the intro I'm the guy
- 23:31from the intro. I didn't.
- 23:32Know that was. You Yeah, same same guy,
- 23:35different spelling. 11 spelling. You know the proper way, if you
- 23:41will. 1 spelling how a moron would do it and also that don't
- 23:47talk. About people when they're not
- 23:48here. That French accent, let me tell
- 23:51you, that was perfect, right? I've been to Paris a few times
- 23:55and I I felt like I was, I was right back there.
- 23:59You've been to the to to the Paris Turnpike.
- 24:03Yeah, yeah, my, my, my family's ancient seat of power.
- 24:08The OR we collected the the tolls anyway.
- 24:13Do you? Do you just have like a like one
- 24:16of those little basket things that you throw the change in as
- 24:19the family Crest or I salute your.
- 24:26Family Duke, later the second best and worst of 2025.
- 24:30Well, you already wrote it down there.
- 24:32Well, I wrote, I, I wrote it, but I've got, I mean, I've got
- 24:35other things to say on it, but it basically my answer is that
- 24:38it sort of the same thing. The best thing and the worst
- 24:42thing was the stability. And I definitely, you know, you
- 24:47can tell that I've been playing the game for a long time and
- 24:50I'm, I've got a lot of abuse and PTSD that I'm working through
- 24:55because I, I missed the instability because it was kind
- 24:59of a symbol of all the shit that they were throwing together and
- 25:03the new things. And I, I knew going into this
- 25:06year that it was going to be the year of stability and there were
- 25:10going to be less features, but they were really less features.
- 25:16I mean, I'd like you guys were saying there was even less
- 25:18missions. We only just recently got back
- 25:21the simple investigation ones where you could just go out, you
- 25:24know, fly into a wreck in space and find them the the dead body.
- 25:28And those are like some of the most atmospheric and beginner
- 25:32friendly missions that they actually have.
- 25:35They really show off the 0G mechanics which.
- 25:38Yeah, it's and we. Need to show off.
- 25:40They're so cool like that. That's I love flying around in
- 25:430G with. That and that like that's what's
- 25:45like you beginner friendly. I mean, not only are they simple
- 25:48missions, they're easy to complete, but they do show off
- 25:50so many of their systems. They create a lot of those, what
- 25:54they call it the Neil Armstrong moments, you know, but I also so
- 26:00like, like I said in that comment, you know, they they did
- 26:02introduce some things, but I think they shield away from
- 26:07rocking the boat, particularly with engineering, You know, they
- 26:11they like all right, we got it in, we got it working before the
- 26:13end of the year. Now let's just dial it back real
- 26:15quick so that it it doesn't actually change anything, which
- 26:19I get. I mean, especially end of the
- 26:21year patch. They wanted for, for once in the
- 26:25long development of this game, to give us something playable
- 26:29over the holidays. And they did.
- 26:31Yeah, we're all able to jump in and play, for the most part.
- 26:35Play what, though? Play I'm supposed to stop
- 26:39making. Multiplayers, what are you?
- 26:41Going to do right now. And that's my other thing,
- 26:43right, is everyone talks about the content.
- 26:45It was a year of content. I didn't like most of the
- 26:49content or, or I, I didn't like the way that it was utilized.
- 26:57So resource drive great for for a specific reason, the ASD
- 27:04facilities and stuff not great for.
- 27:07The same. Let let me explain the grind,
- 27:12OK, resource drive, cause any, you know, any MMO like this, I
- 27:17mean, it's going to have some grind, right?
- 27:19Like people want resources. People are collecting things,
- 27:22they, you know, selling things this and that it, it's good,
- 27:25it's good to have. But me personally, like the
- 27:29resource grind made sense because it was a grind.
- 27:32Like it was a, you know, system wide, like we need to collect
- 27:36this resource, OK, There's a reason to grind the ASD
- 27:40facilities. It's this beautiful, you know,
- 27:44atmospheric experience that we got to go through.
- 27:49And, you know, you fight your way through there and you read
- 27:52data pads and you're, you know, finding all these, all these
- 27:55secrets and stuff and you, you finish it and you're like, cool,
- 28:00that was really awesome. And then your buddies like, all
- 28:05right, let's go do it again to get more of that armor or let
- 28:09let's go do it again to get more, more worm.
- 28:11You know, we need more worm eyeballs or more.
- 28:13And it's like it, it kills the magic.
- 28:17It ruins, in my opinion, it ruins all that work that they
- 28:21put into it. And I've because I've done the
- 28:22grind with people a few times because people have wanted to go
- 28:25back in and and it can be fun, but it moves it from this is
- 28:30this is a beautiful crafted experience that I'm enjoying to
- 28:35now I'm doing I'm grinding in what has now become the the
- 28:42latest attraction at Disney World.
- 28:47You know, like, like I'm fucking floating down the Pirates of the
- 28:50Caribbean River shooting that. Pirates.
- 28:53And collecting their hooks for the 100th time.
- 28:56Exactly. That's that was my take on so
- 28:58that that's it. That's my the best is the
- 29:00stability. I mean, it's been said over and
- 29:02over. The worst was just the way the
- 29:06content was delivered. And it's also also all the
- 29:09content is basically on the ground.
- 29:13Although then I mean we had like some interest hunts and stuff
- 29:15like that, but they were pretty limited, nothing compared to the
- 29:20old, what you call it, the old Xeno threat battles that we used
- 29:27to have. I did love those.
- 29:30However, you know, if we look at things like the executive
- 29:35hangers and you're seeing a mix of space and ground combat and I
- 29:41and I think also the kind of tension that you needed, you
- 29:47know, in the game to make it worthwhile I.
- 29:50I. It was a home run.
- 29:53But it depends entirely on P versus P almost entirely.
- 29:58So I mean, like right now you can go do executive hangers.
- 30:02There's just, there's just no one around.
- 30:05I mean, I think we did like 3 or 4 in one night just one after
- 30:08another because it was like, eh, might as well just go get some
- 30:13ships. So again, you just, but it was
- 30:17there, but I I think that'll get better as the population sizes
- 30:20increase too, like you. Guys have like fewer locations
- 30:23like that. Those locations that they really
- 30:25want to have that PvP, there needs to be like one of them.
- 30:28Yep. You know you can't, you can't
- 30:31have multiple of them and that goes for all those those story
- 30:34based locations as well. You have the the ASD facilities,
- 30:37what you know there shouldn't be thousands of them.
- 30:39Yeah, why am I whether? Or not, you need to.
- 30:41Go to the facility. Look at a computer.
- 30:44Leave that facility and then fly to an absolutely identical one
- 30:49on another planet to do another part of the mission.
- 30:52Like and I get maybe, you know, maybe their dream was that was
- 30:55supposed to be instanced, right? That's what I think.
- 30:59I think the plan at least was for that content to be
- 31:02instanced, but it it just, it didn't happen so.
- 31:06Yeah, it's not, but I'm still bitter about it, understand.
- 31:12Well, it is that time of the year to to be bitter and air
- 31:15your grievances, but it's also that time of the year to engage
- 31:20with news, your local news specifically.
- 31:23And here at Open Comms Radio, we've wanted been wanting to,
- 31:27you know, advance and, and develop and, and, and provide a,
- 31:31a larger experience. So we have partnered up with
- 31:35Stanton's local news team, W KB U Local News Stanton.
- 31:44Do you know where your children are?
- 31:46They said. I have to say that anyway.
- 31:48So we're going to we're going to move right now to lead anchor
- 31:51from kW KB T Stanton News. You should write that down.
- 31:58Thomas Biggs. Thomas Biggs.
- 32:01How you doing over there, Mr. Biggs, Anubis.
- 32:11You're picking me. I'm stupid.
- 32:14We're talking about. No, this is not how the bit was
- 32:17supposed to go. We're supposed to make one of
- 32:19them do it anyways. Mr. Biggs.
- 32:23Thomas Biggs here. How are you today?
- 32:26How the hell are you? Hi, how you doing, Thomas Biggs,
- 32:29you got some headlines. I do, I do.
- 32:33OK so first, in breaking news, the Hearston Supreme Court has
- 32:39made it legal legal to block your regeneration if you can't
- 32:44afford it, which means that you will get scrubbed and UEE will
- 32:49not pay for your regeneration. Critics say it's a violation of
- 32:55human rights. And you know, proponents say,
- 32:59you know, hey, we got too many people anyways, so fuck them.
- 33:05Scary news out of Stanton. Now moving to weather.
- 33:10Weather reporting live from Damar Weatherman.
- 33:15Duck Lekirk. Duck Lekirk.
- 33:19How's the weather on Damar? I'm doing.
- 33:23How you doing, Tom? This is Duck.
- 33:27I'm here, Tom. Sorry if there's any static
- 33:29there. I'm here on Damar.
- 33:31The weather is sandy. There's sand under my boots,
- 33:35there's sand in my eyes. There's some sand down my pants.
- 33:41Tom. It's sandy here, and pretty much
- 33:45everywhere on this godforsaken sunburnt rock.
- 33:51Interesting fun times on Daymar. All right.
- 33:55Back to you, Tom. Thanks Jar Jar.
- 34:00Again, we are here out in Loreville to cover the latest
- 34:04developments with the Hearst and Supreme Court.
- 34:07But we did want to touch on another thing.
- 34:10We have just received notice that Open Comms Radio, one of
- 34:15the most popular radio stations in all of one particular channel
- 34:19on YouTube or or Twitch, has recently signed a deal with a
- 34:25new sponsor, Cruise Lux. Yes, the return of Cruise Lux
- 34:29has been expected by many ever since the tumultuous breakup
- 34:34occurred a couple months ago due to 1 visitor always talking
- 34:41about how they didn't have enough slam in their drinks.
- 34:44But the contracts have been signed, negotiations are all
- 34:48final, and they're back on the radio.
- 34:51So we look forward to hearing their new content and we look
- 34:56forward to hearing from you regarding your 2025 here on the
- 35:01Open Comms Year End spectacular. Well, thank you so much, Tom.
- 35:06And as we close out every news report, we have traffic with our
- 35:11good host, Cosmic traffic Man. Cosmic Traffic man.
- 35:15Well, how's traffic at Levski? Traffic at Levski is busy right
- 35:20now. There's a lot of people, a lot
- 35:21of traffic. Law ships a lot of Paris CI.
- 35:24Oh look, everyone goes right out of the hole.
- 35:27All right, all right, back to you.
- 35:28Open Comms Radio, So I hope that experience lifts everybody's
- 35:36souls. That's.
- 35:38Provides you guys with content. That traffic guy was like
- 35:42directly out of the the fifty 20s.
- 35:49Fuck you too, Duke. All right, all right, all right,
- 35:55back to the back to the regular program.
- 35:56I wasn't saying it was bad. I like that.
- 35:59It is the end of 2025 and what show would it be if we didn't
- 36:03have our most concurrent exclusive guest Wicket Wicket,
- 36:09Welcome to Open Comms Radio I. Don't think that's true anymore.
- 36:15Long time listener, occasional caller.
- 36:21We get what was the best and worst of 2025.
- 36:25Well, where to start? So many good things, so many bad
- 36:30things. I think my my, my best and my
- 36:34worst is the same thing. And that would be all the new
- 36:41additions and systems and play that star or that CIG brought to
- 36:50Star Citizen over the year. You know, we've got, we went
- 36:55from one system to three. We've got, we're able to
- 36:59traverse through a jump portal where we have rudimentary
- 37:05crafting, very, very rudimentary crafting.
- 37:08We have new mission styles, new mission types.
- 37:13We have new enemies that we got and the reason those those are
- 37:17obviously those are all good things because it, you know,
- 37:20gives you a whole new reason to join the the universe to the
- 37:23join the verse and and jump in and and and play the game.
- 37:27But for the most part, all those things were busted as fuck for
- 37:31the most part. So they were great additions,
- 37:34but when they worked, so you know, it was a double edged
- 37:39sword more or less. What was your top your top
- 37:43addition that didn't work? My top edition that didn't work
- 37:48was just the the overall jank that we got sometimes, you know,
- 37:52we're like everybody's having a great time and some weird niggly
- 37:58little bug. Whoa, whoa.
- 38:03Whoa. He's he's old.
- 38:05Let it pass. No.
- 38:10Continue it, it has nothing. To do with what you think it
- 38:14does, the etymology of it is completely different.
- 38:16It's just sounds. This just as a thing.
- 38:21Sure, Minder Wicked is a really decent and wonderful man and I
- 38:26am proud to know him and I am. Not saying that.
- 38:29I'm saying that seriously so. Anyway, anyway, let's move on.
- 38:34Anyway, you know English is the second language.
- 38:37Thank you. With your southern accent.
- 38:45That's because his first A language is French.
- 38:48Been here in the country longer than we've been alive.
- 38:52So the, you know, I, I was, I was happy to play Star Citizen a
- 38:59lot this year. Two big titles happened also
- 39:02this year that took me out of the the the verse for a long
- 39:06amount of time. One of those was doing awakening
- 39:10had a great time there, but that's kind of like run its
- 39:12course and the current my current passion is ashes of
- 39:17creation and I'm not going to go into a whole tangent again.
- 39:20I'll just mention it and let's let's be done with it.
- 39:23But. What are they paying you,
- 39:25Wicked? Nothing, nothing.
- 39:27I'm just I, I, I, you know, when I derive joy from something, I
- 39:31like to spread the joy. I'm kind of like Santa.
- 39:36Never mind, I'm not even. Going to I was going.
- 39:38To say a bunch of stupid shit, but I'm not even going to.
- 39:42Something about something about all those elves that you don't
- 39:45pay. Well, in in any event, the the
- 39:54the game itself at times was a joy to play, a joy to come back
- 40:00to after having long stints of being away from it, doing other
- 40:04things. And coming back and
- 40:06rediscovering the love of the space MMO SIM John, or whatever
- 40:11the hell this is supposed to be now rediscovering that and
- 40:15having a passion for it and playing with, you know,
- 40:18acquaintances and friends and guildmates.
- 40:20That was that was all great for the year.
- 40:24But you know, again, you always ran up against something that
- 40:28was broken, you know, like something despawned or this
- 40:31elevator wanted to kill you or numerous things.
- 40:36Another honorable mention for best thing and and at times
- 40:41worst thing. Well, I think it was more best
- 40:43thing is that whole hot fix with deployment that they did where
- 40:50you can jump on the hot fix but not lose progression.
- 40:55I think they should do more of that, you know, once it gets out
- 41:00of the PTU. I've never been a big big friend
- 41:04or and of the PTUI think they should just I mean it the the
- 41:09whole game is in development anyway and a lot of times even
- 41:12after they've done extensive testing in the PTU, it goes to
- 41:15the PU and we still have a big mess on our hands for an
- 41:18extended amount of time. Now it seems like that's
- 41:21lessened a lot in the in the last couple past cycles, but
- 41:25still most of the time it seems like the bugs that get uncovered
- 41:30once it goes to PU is because now it's being stress tested by
- 41:35a lot more users than would have normally happened in the PTU and
- 41:39therefore it uncovers a lot of issues that need to be resolved.
- 41:44And now I'm sorry to interject, but but do you feel that that
- 41:50is, I mean, we, we've seen PTU and it, and it can have some
- 41:57really drastic, you know, downsides to it as far as bugs.
- 42:03But do you, do you feel that the game is at a state right now
- 42:07where, you know, because I, I, you know, I, you know, we look
- 42:11at it and it really does feel like you're building a little
- 42:13bit of something, maybe not to the level that we want to be
- 42:16able to build, you know, a life in the game, but you know, all
- 42:19the stuff you've collected and all the, all the other things.
- 42:24Do you do you think if you if you merged the two and just had
- 42:27just a general PTU instead of APU, that it would give you the
- 42:31sense of stability that would allow you to keep coming back?
- 42:37I think it would uncover issues and bugs quicker.
- 42:43It would be a painful experience for more people, but on the
- 42:48other hand, we're already experiencing a lot of that pain.
- 42:51It may be worse without having a PTUI understand that argument
- 42:55that the PTU does smooth a lot of the extra, extra rough edges.
- 43:00And then once it goes to PU finally the the the last little
- 43:06bits that need smoothing over then are addressed because you
- 43:10know, once it hits the masses and their new systems get put
- 43:17under pressure, that's when the real big issues or small issues
- 43:23that become big pain points come to light.
- 43:28Overall, I see the value of the PTU.
- 43:32The problem is, like a lot of things the game is in in a lot
- 43:37of in a lot of aspects has become a lot more stable.
- 43:39But then you never know what you're going to get and MMO
- 43:43needs some level of progression. Yeah.
- 43:48And, you know, the, the, the one of the great things I've think
- 43:52so far is that there have not been any wipes.
- 43:55And of course, there are attractions of not having wipes
- 43:58because, you know, you have all this money in the economy, which
- 44:01we to be honest with you, there is no economy, you know, any
- 44:06economy that there is has been derived from users trading with
- 44:10users like, you know, special components when they took those
- 44:13out of the shops. That's about the only real
- 44:15economy that there is. Anything else is just smoke and
- 44:18mirrors. But we've generated our own
- 44:21economy and in the Red Scar Guild and by selling components
- 44:27that other people didn't want to take that make make the effort
- 44:30to acquire themselves, but they had the money to purchase them.
- 44:33Where that money came from, who knows, but they were paying
- 44:36millions. Yeah.
- 44:38Gave her some rando and chat. Right.
- 44:41I mean, that does happen. I've seen it.
- 44:45But overall, overall, I think it's been a great year.
- 44:48Looking at the financials, this has been the obviously something
- 44:54this year has attracted a lot more eyes and a lot more players
- 45:00to the to the project than in previous years.
- 45:03We are over 33% up for funding from player funding over last
- 45:11year. We're about, we hit 154,000,000.
- 45:15That's incredible. That's why that's wild.
- 45:18That's insane. And that's just for this year.
- 45:21And, and a big chunk of it, you know, happened to the big, the
- 45:25big cycle, the big sales cycles. Of course, a lot of new players
- 45:30have joined, a lot of new eyes have been put onto the onto the
- 45:36project and they have have experienced our citizen maybe
- 45:39for the first time. And then, you know, there's
- 45:42going to be people that realize, OK, this is a work in progress
- 45:46and yes, there's going to be pain points.
- 45:49And then there's other people that, and I, I get where they
- 45:52get this from. The marketing kind of plays on
- 45:55this fact that you can do all this thing, all these things,
- 45:58and they kind of sell it to the new users that are less informed
- 46:03of a complete package. And it's a game it's ready to
- 46:07play. And but when you get in here,
- 46:09you're immediately disappointed because there's so many like
- 46:13pain points that you have to progress through.
- 46:15And we as veterans of, of this, of this environment, we are all
- 46:20well versed in it, where we understand how that works.
- 46:24And we've, our skin is tough. We can handle it.
- 46:26We, we know how to get around a lot of the bugs and we know to
- 46:30expect things. But a new player, which is going
- 46:33to be the lifeblood of the game as it progresses, we have to
- 46:36have these new people getting into the game.
- 46:38We have to have these new eyes, these new players that have are
- 46:41totally new to it. Those are the people that you
- 46:44need to really impress because you want to keep them coming
- 46:46back. And somehow with with all the
- 46:49pain, with all the, with all the the expansion Blues, basically
- 46:54somehow 33.7% more funding year over year.
- 47:00That's incredible. So at some level CIG must be
- 47:04doing something right, or the people that drank the kool-aid
- 47:08are drinking more of it, a lot more of it.
- 47:11I don't know, maybe both? Well, if we if we step back, I
- 47:15mean let's look at one of the most profitable games out there,
- 47:17which is GTA Online in every year it's it's incremental, you
- 47:23know content it's this it's that it's it's shark cards.
- 47:29You know, they you know the, the updates are free, but people buy
- 47:33these shark cards all the time and so they what are the.
- 47:36Shark cards they. Are money, yeah, they're
- 47:41basically money by a yeah, It's a prepaid gift card that you're
- 47:45buying for yourself in game. So you get 1,000,000 or 10
- 47:51million. Yeah, in game currency with.
- 47:52It RM, It's RM. It's basically legal RM-2.
- 47:56Please no this. So this is flight blades to the
- 47:59Max. Kind of because you you buy, you
- 48:04buy things with it, you do buy vehicles with it.
- 48:10Yeah, I mean, it's the same as buying a ship, I suppose.
- 48:13Yeah, but I mean, if we look at the progression there, I mean,
- 48:17yeah, we have properties or whatever and, and, and we have
- 48:20but, but those are kind of like ships and we have vehicles and
- 48:24then those are like ships. You know, the experience that
- 48:28you're getting in Star Citizen already still exceeds what you
- 48:32get in GTA Online and. So.
- 48:37Well, you have much more to do as far as the types of play
- 48:43styles you have. Obviously you're in space, which
- 48:47is cool. You know, yeah, but yeah, I can
- 48:50buy a house and I can look at boobs.
- 48:53You can look at boobs, that is. That is true and maybe they
- 48:56should have boobs. Yeah, boobs are boobs are a big.
- 48:59Deal, there are boobs. I will argue OK.
- 49:01I was thinking this today. I was thinking about I was
- 49:06thinking about the about boobs today.
- 49:08Believe it or not, what? Yeah.
- 49:11Crazy. I was playing Cyberpunk and I
- 49:14just remember like Cyberpunk is like, I mean, it's, it's fine.
- 49:18It's, it's good enough, It's good.
- 49:20But like people keep, it's a single player game and people
- 49:23are still playing it. I don't know how many people are
- 49:25playing it right now, but there's always like 10s of
- 49:28thousands of people playing this game.
- 49:30That you. You.
- 49:31Wouldn't expect from a single player game.
- 49:33And I was like, oh, it's just because there's like boobs and
- 49:37like chicks you can romance and there's not many games that like
- 49:39offer that alongside, you know, hacking computers and shooting
- 49:45people. And I'm, I think, well, Mass
- 49:48Effect too, but Mass Effect also had a really like long longevity
- 49:54and a huge player. Base.
- 49:58No. Well, almost kind of.
- 50:01Not bear, not like, not like Cyberpunk, not like.
- 50:05That's fair. Yeah, that's fair.
- 50:08I mean, you can just hang out in like in a, in a gentlemen's club
- 50:11in both those games. And I'm thinking like, I bet
- 50:14there's so many people who just like do that.
- 50:16And if you think about like teenage boys and stuff.
- 50:19Right. Like, what are they 'cause I was
- 50:21thinking like, what are they spending their time doing in
- 50:23this game? There's not that much content.
- 50:26There aren't that many missions. The world isn't that immersive,
- 50:31really. In Age Boys and Star Citizen,
- 50:33this is a millennial game. What are you?
- 50:34Talking about I have AI have a comment from everyone in the
- 50:39forest. I have a comment from another
- 50:41universe yeah. So I, I met a guy in our Guild
- 50:47today in Ashes and turns out he's also a Star Citizen and
- 50:54he's, he's actually tuned into the broadcast today.
- 50:57So he just, he just wanted me to say we should point out that GTA
- 51:01Online is riddled with cheaters. Because of chart.
- 51:05Cards, so there. That is a detraction from that
- 51:09title. But yet it's the most profitable
- 51:13game out there as far as pound for pound, it it makes the most
- 51:17money. It has generated the most
- 51:19revenue out of any game and eclipses, you know, Star
- 51:22Citizen. But it offers less of an
- 51:25experience. And it's, well, I mean, yeah,
- 51:28the cheater is mainly on PC, but maybe with the RAM crisis, Star
- 51:34Citizen goes to console and be that solves a couple issues.
- 51:40Well, the RAM prices are crazy. Like when I built, we were, I
- 51:45was just talking to Murphy the other day.
- 51:47He was asking me about, you know, should he upgrade his
- 51:50memory? And I said, hell fucking no.
- 51:52Are you crazy? Are you a Rockefeller?
- 51:54Because when we built his system earlier this year, we we got him
- 51:5860-4 gigs of RAM in his in his. New Oh, he's fine.
- 52:01Yes, and and it's 2 the the because AM DS got a 9800 X 3D
- 52:08and because the way AMD is set up, you want to go with two
- 52:11sticks because the way the memory controller is you want to
- 52:14go with two sticks and you want to do 6000 megatransfers is like
- 52:19the sweet spot. And he has all that he has a,
- 52:21you know, 30 CL memory G skill. It's fine.
- 52:26It's but we looked up that memory when when we got it for
- 52:31his system to put in was $200. It's now over 1000.
- 52:36Yeah. Yeah, all for all for the same
- 52:40RAM, the I mean this. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 52:42The brand hasn't changed, it's just the price has changed.
- 52:45It's it's insane walking in Best Buy and seeing RAM.
- 52:49Just just hang in there. No $1000.
- 52:53Gold hanging on the wall. $10,000 of RAM. $20,000 of RAM.
- 52:59Oh, just hanging on a hook. Right there in front of you.
- 53:01Like holy crap. Well, look at man, look at man.
- 53:06Everything's getting more expensive, but our next guest is
- 53:09priceless. Our next caller in is.
- 53:12Awe been around? For quite a while.
- 53:14He was on our his first show with us I think last week or two
- 53:18weeks ago. It is crotch mullet, crotch
- 53:21Mcmullet. Welcome to Open Comms Radio,
- 53:24your star Susan Collins show. You're here live with myself.
- 53:27I'm Jar Jar Jabroni. You're here with Lord Anubis,
- 53:30Cosmic Hobo, Wicket and Duke Lado FL.
- 53:34Before you say a word. Mullet.
- 53:35Hello. I just want to say something
- 53:37before you say a word, Mullet. Hold on.
- 53:40Here we go. I heard that jar.
- 53:42Jar you say you are. Three more.
- 53:44Crotch Mcmullet. OK, go on.
- 53:49It's. Pretty low.
- 53:51I don't mind that one. It's good.
- 53:52It's good. But I, I wanted to add to you
- 53:55said what do people play in GTA and Red Dead?
- 53:58And I'm one of those people. But what kept me coming back is
- 54:03the same thing that Star Citizen has at the same time.
- 54:05It's like that. Like I would play it like a
- 54:07simulation. So even single player games,
- 54:10that would be a hunter, just kind of hunt my way and do that
- 54:13relaxing thing. Or.
- 54:16There's a lot of mods out there. That's a huge because even in
- 54:21GTA single or yeah, single player, you can become a, a gang
- 54:26leader, a gang Lord and just have your, you, you run a
- 54:30business pretty much. So there's a lot of like mods
- 54:32and stuff that you can do in the single player game.
- 54:35There's also lots of nudie mods. Yeah.
- 54:38Sure that there are boobs. Let's not overlook it.
- 54:41I'm just saying. All right, right.
- 54:43I haven't tried that yet to be honest.
- 54:45And I, and I, and I got to, I got to say, I got to think the
- 54:50the same draw that's right here, the same draw that while we're
- 54:54all here on OPA comms radio, make sure to subscribe by the
- 54:58way, if you haven't. And if you haven't and you're
- 55:02listening right now and we find out.
- 55:05Fucking we'll kill you. Oh my God, guys, no, please stop
- 55:09threatening What's? In game In game.
- 55:12And last like game episodes, people are like threatening, I
- 55:16think. I think it's the times 2025
- 55:18needs to end. We need to move into.
- 55:20A new era, a new phase. Age of Aquarius, I don't know
- 55:22what that means, but it just sounds better than what whatever
- 55:25is going on here. Listen guys, we have a guest
- 55:28show show Crotch Mcmullet, you have some respect.
- 55:31Crotch Mullet Best and worst of 2025.
- 55:36You asked me to answer this question and I was having a hard
- 55:39time. So I didn't play much.
- 55:42And that that was my thing this year.
- 55:45It was a personal choice. It wasn't the game itself.
- 55:47It was just it, it, it was personal, but I didn't play
- 55:50much. So like I had a hard time
- 55:52gauging what was the best and what was the worst because I
- 55:54came back feeling like a new player again.
- 55:56And it's funny that you're mentioning new players need to
- 55:59feel that thing. And I was like, I still feel it,
- 56:03but I was just a little lost because you guys are ahead of in
- 56:06knowledge at this point. But the best time is always
- 56:11this. It's it's the orc, it's the
- 56:13people, for real. That's what.
- 56:16Makes it for me. The worst is just wicked.
- 56:21Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 56:25Yeah. Very sorry.
- 56:26We all agree. That's so weird because I took a
- 56:29poll and I didn't even put wicked as one of the options
- 56:33people wrote it in Wicked. This.
- 56:38Is my life, you know, poor guy. The only love I get is the love
- 56:43of Haiti. And that lid is short where you
- 56:46have a stroke at the end. It's OK, I'll survive.
- 56:52So that slam you're drinking and Cruz likes?
- 56:55I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll come back with with truthisms that are
- 56:59actually true one day. I think we're all ganging up on
- 57:04you just because we miss you and you haven't been on.
- 57:08In a while you can play in a different every you know, No,
- 57:10you listen, Sir, coming on this show, you know, every few weeks,
- 57:15you know. Every quarter.
- 57:16I'm playing something else. I'm playing, and I feel like
- 57:19maybe you don't understand. This is a Star Citizen podcast.
- 57:23This is about a single A1 game. You can't just come in here
- 57:27playing all the all different kinds of of Mmos which stop
- 57:30playing. Games with us.
- 57:32Yeah, you don't stick with very long, OK.
- 57:35Yeah, he's he's with those Anubis.
- 57:39No, I mean, just you remember those couple months where he was
- 57:42like coming in like I have ascended beyond Star Citizen.
- 57:48I am, you know, the chosen one. I have prescience now.
- 57:53Wow. Yeah.
- 57:54And he kept. And then where's he now?
- 57:56Where's he now? Well, he in our hearts now.
- 58:00He's playing another game. But you know he'll.
- 58:01Get back, he'll get back. He'll be back.
- 58:04Yeah. And so, well, it has, it has
- 58:05been a year of actually some pretty good games.
- 58:07So we can actually go around and just ignore the confrontation.
- 58:12I I just urged. We can go around and say what?
- 58:15What else did you play this year?
- 58:19I'll start. I'll start.
- 58:20I played Metroid Prime, which was pretty I played like all the
- 58:28Metroid games this year thread Prime and now I'm playing Prime
- 58:314 and it's been great. Bug free Nintendo, you know,
- 58:36perfect, perfect. You put that cartridge in and
- 58:39that's it. No updates needed.
- 58:41So that's what I was doing. Well, what else you've been
- 58:46playing? I always go back to Overwatch
- 58:48because it's a quick in and out for me, but for long term stuff
- 58:52when I would play I I went back to Rim World.
- 58:54I don't know if you guys played that ever.
- 58:56That's fun. I was going to say that for
- 58:58mine, I played a lot of Rim World too.
- 59:00There you go. Catch up the line.
- 59:06Duke, what'd you play this year? I've got a lot of things I
- 59:11always go back to a lot of like RT S, S and some FPS games for
- 59:16just a quick jump in, but the other one I spent the most time
- 59:20in this year was probably Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
- 59:26It's. An RPG really beautiful, like
- 59:30amazingly crafted medieval worlds.
- 59:34I don't even like RPGs but this one is just so immersive.
- 59:39So kind of like Star Citizen, it it doesn't hold your hand very
- 59:44challenging, very open as to how you complete the game and all of
- 59:49your all your choices really matter and there's there's lots
- 59:52of changes. So really good.
- 59:55Check it out all. Right, Wicked.
- 59:58What did you play this year? Played a lot of Path of Exile.
- 1:00:04Path of Exile too do an awakening and I've got over 200
- 1:00:11hours in the ashes of creation. Damn yo.
- 1:00:16And it's every game I played, even Star City was great.
- 1:00:22There's a lot of games I looked at and watched streams about.
- 1:00:26But IA lot of these games, they look great and they look fun,
- 1:00:30but it's like you have to learn a whole new system.
- 1:00:33And if I'm going to learn a new system, it's got to be another
- 1:00:36genre and a type of game that I really can get into, like the
- 1:00:39Dune Awakening, survival aspects of that game.
- 1:00:42They were great, But you know, it lost its flavor, it lost
- 1:00:46touch. I guess it, it, it was just the
- 1:00:49way the game is structured. There's no reason to keep coming
- 1:00:53back. Now.
- 1:00:53This Ashes game, it's in, it's in the, it's been a long term
- 1:00:56development, like over 10 years, like like Star Citizen.
- 1:01:00And there's so much potential here.
- 1:01:02And this gives me the the great feels of when I played arcade
- 1:01:08long ago and you know, I, I don't mind learning new systems
- 1:01:12if I see the payoff at the end of the day.
- 1:01:14So those have been my, my main titles and Path of Exile or Path
- 1:01:18of Exile, Path of Exile too, specifically, that's shaping up.
- 1:01:21If you're if you're into action RPGs, if you're into Diablo like
- 1:01:24games, it's going to be an amazing game once it's finally
- 1:01:29fully fleshed out. It's still in development, but
- 1:01:31it's playable now and it's awesome.
- 1:01:33It's free. That levelling echelon just
- 1:01:36turns me off. Path of Exile you get.
- 1:01:41Used to. Whatever you call it, the web,
- 1:01:43they're just endless. Of the Oh, you're talking about
- 1:01:46the the skill tree. There you go, that's the.
- 1:01:49Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, it is. It is intimidating at first, but
- 1:01:53you start, as you play more, it becomes less intimidating.
- 1:01:57And there's so many people putting out content about that
- 1:02:02game that there's a lot of guides out there.
- 1:02:05And once you follow a couple of guides, you can tweak them to
- 1:02:10your own liking once you get wrap your head around how that
- 1:02:13how the skill tree works, how skills interact with each other,
- 1:02:16and just the game mechanics of the world.
- 1:02:20It. Becomes less daunting and it it
- 1:02:22doesn't take that long to get into it.
- 1:02:25But first of all, you have to be a fan of that solid game.
- 1:02:28You know, it does. It's it's it's fun to a point,
- 1:02:33but I get burned out all the time on that too.
- 1:02:35But I keep coming back all. Right.
- 1:02:37And Anubis, what? What else have you been playing
- 1:02:39this year? You know, honestly, nothing
- 1:02:42else. A lot of my year has been
- 1:02:47working on developing programming skills, you know,
- 1:02:53for ESP 32 and then, you know, then it moved into, you know,
- 1:02:58different things like my current job.
- 1:03:02Pick out this guy bettering himself.
- 1:03:04Yeah. Loser.
- 1:03:08Yeah, you know, plus, you know, a little bit of a hard year.
- 1:03:15I have finally, you know, now found consistent work after
- 1:03:21years of uncertainty and and hardship.
- 1:03:26So, you know, I will say that between trying to, you know,
- 1:03:33learn new skills and, and, and everything else, being able to
- 1:03:39come back to this game, become coming back to all of you, you
- 1:03:44know, and having people to talk to.
- 1:03:46And, you know, I mean, not that I don't have people to talk to
- 1:03:49in life, but it's a little different because, you know, you
- 1:03:52got to arrange things like that. You know, you got to meet up.
- 1:03:56I'm lucky enough to have people like that.
- 1:03:58But honestly, it's a lot different when you can just kind
- 1:04:02of just walk in every day. And not wear pants.
- 1:04:06And not wearing. Pants, yeah.
- 1:04:08Yeah, and and, and I announce that often.
- 1:04:10I say, hey, I'm not wearing pants and people go good for
- 1:04:15you. Cool.
- 1:04:16This is the part where you should play the the intro for.
- 1:04:18Cheers. Yeah.
- 1:05:23Because sometimes you do want to go where everybody knows your
- 1:05:27name. Everybody knows your name where
- 1:05:31everybody knows your name well. Speaking of, someone knows.
- 1:05:34Name we know. Oh, Captain, My Captain Murphy
- 1:05:39Jack, we're going to pull on up here to join us here on the call
- 1:05:42in show. Now, if you haven't called in to
- 1:05:45open comms radio before, you can always call in.
- 1:05:47You can always write a comment. We'll we'll read it live on air.
- 1:05:50We meet usually Wednesday nights at 9:00 PM Eastern Time, 6:00 PM
- 1:05:54Pacific and you can just join the discord.
- 1:05:57A lot of us in here pop on in, join the show 1 night, write a
- 1:06:01comment, whatever dude, do as you.
- 1:06:04Like. You're.
- 1:06:10On if you're, if you're, if you're a Star Citizen and you're
- 1:06:14you're a frequenter of the Robert Space industry website,
- 1:06:17go to the community hub, look up Jar Jar Jabroni and give some
- 1:06:21updates to this. Guy.
- 1:06:24And give updates to the shorts, give updates to some of the
- 1:06:29podcasts and some of the videos he produced.
- 1:06:31He's he's been putting a lot of time and effort into generating
- 1:06:35this content and show your appreciation if you care to.
- 1:06:39Bam Spectrum. What he really needs with some
- 1:06:43better guests. You know, I think if he had
- 1:06:44better material to work with, this would all be a lot easier
- 1:06:47for him. Yeah.
- 1:06:49Well, I don't know. He's he.
- 1:06:51He's posted some some bangers lately.
- 1:06:53Shorts featured. Despite what?
- 1:06:55Despite what we've given. Him.
- 1:06:58Yeah, Wicked's been the star of the last couple of shorts.
- 1:07:01So. But indeed.
- 1:07:03They were bangers. Unbelievable bangers dropping
- 1:07:07more bangers than a roof full of clumsy.
- 1:07:10Look, look, he's, he's learning new slang.
- 1:07:15So we we have in the chat could Doyle writes.
- 1:07:17The best thing for 2025 is the address.
- 1:07:20There you go of. Course, Yeah, he's.
- 1:07:22Of course it is. Mr. Gibbs short coming out that
- 1:07:27features the address. We did have a lot of fun on his
- 1:07:30address though. Oh yeah.
- 1:07:31I've had a great time this year on that.
- 1:07:33Yeah. Murphy, Jack.
- 1:07:35Welcome to Opencoms Radio. I'm Jar Jar Jabroni.
- 1:07:39You're on the couch with Wicket, Lord Anubis, Cosmic Hobo Duke,
- 1:07:44later the second crotch mullet, and we're all wondering what was
- 1:07:49the best and worst of 2025. Well, you know, you guys had a
- 1:07:55lot of really good bests, good worst.
- 1:08:00But I think the biggest thing we're, we're kind of overlooking
- 1:08:04'cause I feel like it's been a while, is this player cap on the
- 1:08:08servers. Can you imagine if we got Pyro
- 1:08:11and now Knicks and all that? We were still on 50 player
- 1:08:14servers. Yeah.
- 1:08:17I think that would be. Why would we even?
- 1:08:20It'd run really good, but I just think of all the content we've
- 1:08:25had from running into people, meeting people like I just real
- 1:08:31quick last night. Yeah, shooting people real quick
- 1:08:34last night. We went to a a Hathor site,
- 1:08:38scanned the whole, had pure Karenite in it.
- 1:08:40But there was this other crew there.
- 1:08:42There was, well three guys and we were able to, I was able to
- 1:08:46go board their ship and talk to them and we actually worked
- 1:08:51together on the whole. We took the pure Karenite and
- 1:08:53they took the other material. We provided cover for them while
- 1:08:57they mined up all the other stuff and we took the pure.
- 1:09:01So there's like all those opportunities of meeting people
- 1:09:08are so much easier when you have a lot more people on the server.
- 1:09:11I mean, how you going to do it? 50 people, right?
- 1:09:14Oh yeah, it'd be elite neighbors at that point.
- 1:09:18So that was like that. My biggest thing is stable 600
- 1:09:22player servers really brought it all together.
- 1:09:25And I mean as far as the worst of 2025, I mean a couple of
- 1:09:30those events. Were a little rough.
- 1:09:34Especially when they. Don't say resource drive.
- 1:09:36Don't is that the one with the dependent on the freight
- 1:09:39elevator and the freight elevators of growth?
- 1:09:40Saying it. Yeah, it was.
- 1:09:43That's my. Favorite event?
- 1:09:45Yeah, it was rough. That was rough.
- 1:09:46Fucked. If these guys, if the devs
- 1:09:49listen to you guys, I'm never going to get the game I want.
- 1:09:53But I do want to also echo what Raven said about the Flight
- 1:09:55Blade fiasco. I'm glad the community checked
- 1:09:58them on it. I'm not sure if they would have
- 1:10:02released them like they did if we didn't check them out at the
- 1:10:05same thing with the Argo Atlas, right?
- 1:10:09You know, we, the community got on them and they released them
- 1:10:12quicker, so that was good. But I think that's all I see for
- 1:10:17worse. It is nice to see that they
- 1:10:22respond to that stuff because that's like, OK, you know, I
- 1:10:26mean, who's making that decision?
- 1:10:27You know, whatever. I don't know.
- 1:10:29But it's nice to see that. Chris.
- 1:10:33Chris. It's all Chris's do it.
- 1:10:36It could be, I don't know. I I.
- 1:10:39Heard Jens Flores was promoted to that position to make the
- 1:10:42decision. He's a developer.
- 1:10:45What's he doing making these kinds of marketing and business
- 1:10:49decisions? They laid off other people.
- 1:10:52Yeah. That's how that works.
- 1:10:56That's how it happens. Oh, yeah.
- 1:11:00Murphy, Jack. Murphy, Jack.
- 1:11:01What are the games you play this year?
- 1:11:04Dune Awakening, that was probably the biggest that I did
- 1:11:08and still doing Overwatch with Mullah and everybody else every
- 1:11:12once in a while. The Sims Legacy Edition.
- 1:11:18Whoa, didn't expect that. Yes.
- 1:11:21Right, learning some secrets here.
- 1:11:24Oh, it was a blast from the past of the my childhood as I grew up
- 1:11:28playing that the very first Sims.
- 1:11:32How many Sims have you trapped in a pool?
- 1:11:37This year, back when I was a kid.
- 1:11:40This year. I haven't done any yet this
- 1:11:43year. Better question, how many Sims
- 1:11:46albums have you listened to? I did listen to a YouTube
- 1:11:53playlist that that music is very like, that's like a smell
- 1:11:58memory, you know? Yeah.
- 1:12:02And their language when they talk.
- 1:12:04It's pretty pretty neat. Can you give us an example?
- 1:12:10Oh, oh, you know when you put you on the spot like that?
- 1:12:15You can't, but I don't. Know you know.
- 1:12:19I'll just split it out randomly at some point.
- 1:12:22Yeah, there was a meme about that.
- 1:12:24It was like a country song, but if you had a stroke and you
- 1:12:28didn't understand anything, it was just kind of gibberish.
- 1:12:31I don't know if you saw that meme but that was a SIM song.
- 1:12:34That makes sense. I have a question, I don't know
- 1:12:40if this has ever been talked about but I was playing alone
- 1:12:43the other day and have you has anyone ever thought about like
- 1:12:48removing the animation getting your seat for your ship?
- 1:12:52Oh no. Can't do that.
- 1:12:54We don't talk so long. It used to be longer.
- 1:12:58I know, yeah, some ships are still too long, but some of them
- 1:13:01are right. Well, I mean, now they have
- 1:13:06ships that just like, throw you down your throat.
- 1:13:09Now it's really icky. I know where that comes from,
- 1:13:15and I think this has to do with the whole engineering thing and
- 1:13:19having to get out of your seat quickly.
- 1:13:20I think it's less about getting into your seat, but getting out
- 1:13:23of your seat because you're in a hurry, right?
- 1:13:26And then you just kind of like, do the regular stand up out of
- 1:13:30your seat. You should be like leaping out
- 1:13:33of your seat if the ship's on fire, you know?
- 1:13:37But I don't know. I don't know how they would.
- 1:13:41I would think how they would program that.
- 1:13:43How? How?
- 1:13:44You. Scroll your wheel.
- 1:13:45The. Whole be walking.
- 1:13:49OK, used to be an O an O shit button.
- 1:13:52Yeah. Cool.
- 1:13:55Yeah, let's just add more key binds to this game.
- 1:13:58There's not a. Great idea dude, I play with the
- 1:14:03fucking controller. That still baffles me.
- 1:14:08Ow. I play with a game pad and since
- 1:14:11they actually put in the VR now you can kind of navigate the
- 1:14:16menus almost I could go, I could do a whole hour on this.
- 1:14:21But like you know, on a controller you have the two
- 1:14:24sticks and then you have that D pad.
- 1:14:27And normally if you're in a game, you're going to try to
- 1:14:29control the menus with AD pad usually.
- 1:14:34But in some newer games like Cyberpunk or something, they
- 1:14:36kind of like mimic the mouse cursor and they just use, you
- 1:14:40can use one of your sticks to do it.
- 1:14:42Well, in Star Citizen, if you're using your GamePad, you can't
- 1:14:47navigate. You can kind of navigate menus
- 1:14:49with the D pad, but it's not consistent.
- 1:14:52And instead, if you try to use the sticks, it's it will move
- 1:14:56the mouse with the stick, but it'll also rotate around your
- 1:14:59character at the same time in your inventory.
- 1:15:02And there's, there's no way to to like change that.
- 1:15:05So they've, they just haven't given us the option to, to do
- 1:15:10it. And I think now that they have
- 1:15:12the VR and I'm curious if any of the VR players how they're like
- 1:15:16navigating these menus and stuff because it's obviously changed
- 1:15:20since that update, but I can't imagine it's it's user friendly
- 1:15:25for them. I mean, it was a spot launch.
- 1:15:30A soft VR launch? OK.
- 1:15:32And is anyone here using the VR? I tried before I got my new
- 1:15:38graphics card and I could see a pipe and it looked really cool
- 1:15:42but I I could not. I could not move or do anything
- 1:15:46because it was very. I'll try with my new GPU at some
- 1:15:51point. OK Oh, you got it.
- 1:15:54You you recently got a new GPUI? Did I went with?
- 1:15:58I went with Ranik to Micro Center.
- 1:16:01Oh dog. Which wasn't receiving is, Yeah,
- 1:16:06yeah, well, actually went to both.
- 1:16:09Dang yo the. 3D printer thing he wanted was not at the the
- 1:16:14Virginia 1 so we went up to the Maryland one.
- 1:16:17Oh, which which printer? I have no idea he has five.
- 1:16:24Yeah, I just recently got a new one.
- 1:16:27All right, well join us next week on Printers Printers
- 1:16:31episode Open printers.com/net. We have a new guest for us on
- 1:16:39the couch today. It is wild card.
- 1:16:41Wild card. Didn't we already read your
- 1:16:43comment? I don't know.
- 1:16:48We did are. You saying you weren't watching
- 1:16:50the show? Wild card.
- 1:16:53Wild card. Welcome to Open Comms Radio,
- 1:16:55your star assistant Colin show. Thank you for calling in today.
- 1:16:58You wrote that your best thing for in 2025 was the improved
- 1:17:03stability, the ASD missions and the new ships.
- 1:17:07You wrote that the worst was the patch management.
- 1:17:12Yes. You stand by what you said.
- 1:17:14I do. I do in a it was, as you know,
- 1:17:20it was a long year with a lot of patches and stuff and and a lot
- 1:17:24of good stuff. I mean, to be honest, but and
- 1:17:29for the most part, it was pretty stable.
- 1:17:33But you know, we see a lot of the same old bugs coming back,
- 1:17:37you know, and, and from that perspective where it's like if
- 1:17:44we already, you know, once, once they squash a bug, right, you
- 1:17:49know, it, it shouldn't be coming back in a future build, in my
- 1:17:53opinion, right? And the reason that it does is
- 1:17:57talk about patch management or at least branching of the
- 1:18:00patches, you know, And I don't feel that that that's something
- 1:18:04that they've historically done very well.
- 1:18:09Interesting. Is is that true though?
- 1:18:12Because I think the same bugs can appear for multiple reasons,
- 1:18:16right? So I don't, I don't want to give
- 1:18:19them like I, I don't, I don't think they're, I think they're
- 1:18:25aware of the fact that like, if they squash a bug, it could come
- 1:18:30back. I hope they're not just like
- 1:18:32putting out a a patch that's squashes all these bugs and
- 1:18:37stuff and then go and then like building off of a previous
- 1:18:41patch. So in the, I can only speak from
- 1:18:45the experience that I have, you know, and, and I'm sure that
- 1:18:48this is a much bigger development house than what I
- 1:18:51work with. But what we tend to see is, you
- 1:18:56know, you have all these branches of code, right?
- 1:18:58There's a, there's a, you know, almost infinite branches of code
- 1:19:04for the, the different, there's one core version of software.
- 1:19:07And then there's all these different branches.
- 1:19:09And the branches are for, we've worked on in different, by
- 1:19:13different development teams, right?
- 1:19:15And they're supposed to, you know, when they, when they
- 1:19:19release a release candidate, they're supposed to bring all
- 1:19:22those golden builds, you know, to the main build.
- 1:19:27And then that's your release candidate.
- 1:19:29Now, if there's, you know, there should be some testing, some
- 1:19:34quality control. If the bug has already been
- 1:19:36squashed, you have an issue. You know there's an issue,
- 1:19:39right? I can't imagine they're, you
- 1:19:42know, they wouldn't be able to catch that in in testing, right,
- 1:19:46in Q&A. Now you might argue, well, isn't
- 1:19:49that what live is? It's an alpha, right.
- 1:19:52So maybe that's our job is to Q&A this stuff.
- 1:19:57But from my perspective, you shouldn't be seeing the same
- 1:20:00bugs over and over again. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:06I agree with you. I mean I I it's it's annoying as
- 1:20:09shit and like the freight elevators are fixed now.
- 1:20:15Have they bugged since the end of the resource drive when they
- 1:20:19fixed them? Have they had experience with
- 1:20:23that? Yeah, they are right now.
- 1:20:24Well, not all of them, but the ones that the tech smuggler
- 1:20:28broke. That's.
- 1:20:30Because they don't have an inventory system there.
- 1:20:34And then which is funny because they did before, but the the
- 1:20:39ones that the worm and where's it?
- 1:20:43There's another one. I think the CZS too, right?
- 1:20:45The CZS are all broke. The.
- 1:20:49CZS were working last time I. Was working.
- 1:20:53OK. Well, it's it's.
- 1:20:54It's the worm and the the text smuggler.
- 1:20:58Yeah, you're tossing dice. You're rolling dice to see if
- 1:21:00things are working or not. It seems like.
- 1:21:03I mean, that's that's a lot of the reason why I don't.
- 1:21:05I don't pop in. I'll I'll see everyone's on.
- 1:21:09I kind of like try to catch the vibes like is shit work, It
- 1:21:12isn't not working because if it's not working, I'm out.
- 1:21:15And this was the year of stability.
- 1:21:16Now, that said, we it is much more stable than it was a year
- 1:21:20ago. And given all the new content
- 1:21:24that that's in the game, you know, we're we're looking
- 1:21:26forward to a possibly fantastic year ahead for Star Citizen.
- 1:21:34Now there's some barriers in that way.
- 1:21:35There's some some walls that are put up that I think everyone's
- 1:21:39kind of worried about. One of those is Squadron 42.
- 1:21:44Oh boy. We were told we were.
- 1:21:47We were promised, I don't know if you were a promise, We were
- 1:21:50told it's coming out 2026. They made a new trailer, 2026
- 1:21:55release date. We are one day away from 2026
- 1:21:58upon this recording and we've heard nothing.
- 1:22:01Now there are there are a couple ideas here and let me lay this
- 1:22:08out for everybody and you can react.
- 1:22:11A lot of games recently have been releasing extra content and
- 1:22:16sometimes even like games, full-fledged games without any
- 1:22:21marketing beforehand. And you could argue Squadron 42
- 1:22:26has already done so much marketing that it may not.
- 1:22:30They may make the decision that it's not reasonable to have a
- 1:22:34whole other marketing budget and months of buildup for a game,
- 1:22:39that they may just, you know, quote UN quote, shadow drop it.
- 1:22:42Yeah, No, they'll tell you the day or week before.
- 1:22:47And they'll just know you. Know that's right in A to your
- 1:22:52point though, they they were talking, they were comparing the
- 1:22:55launch of, you know, order 42 with GTA, you know, huge
- 1:23:01launches, right. So there's no way they're going
- 1:23:04to add or drop it. You know, they want that to be a
- 1:23:07big splash. Doesn't mean how much grief have
- 1:23:10they taken about not releasing anything over this long period
- 1:23:12of time. They're going to have to make a
- 1:23:14big deal about something that they release.
- 1:23:15If it goes to one O, it's going to be a huge thing.
- 1:23:20Plus you're generally though, well, generally you have a
- 1:23:23teaser out about a a year before you intend to release it more or
- 1:23:27less, right? You let people know this time
- 1:23:32next season, it's coming, right? We haven't gotten really any
- 1:23:36official tease or anything like that.
- 1:23:39I, I, I, I think Quadrant 42 could be the make or break for
- 1:23:46Star Citizen. I think the one thing it has
- 1:23:52going forward is it's, I mean, I know they want to put it on a
- 1:23:55console release, so it's going to have to compete with GTA6 at
- 1:24:04some point. Now GTA 6 was delayed again to
- 1:24:08this year to to the summer of of of 2026.
- 1:24:12So who knows if that's even going to if they're still going
- 1:24:14to release it. That's been delayed several
- 1:24:16Times Now, but they're supposed to come out in the summer.
- 1:24:20Any game that releases anywhere close to to the behemoth of GTA
- 1:24:26is is is is stupid to release anywhere close to them because
- 1:24:31all eyes will be on will be on GTA.
- 1:24:35So they have to make sure that they do not release the same
- 1:24:38month well, but I would say within two months of it.
- 1:24:42Isn't a caveat to that is that GTA isn't going to be on PC for
- 1:24:46at least a year past it's released?
- 1:24:48Yeah, but Robert, Chris Roberts always said that he wanted to
- 1:24:51make sure Squadron 42 is playable on console.
- 1:24:54Yeah, he. Did.
- 1:24:56Yeah. Well, well, let's think.
- 1:24:59I mean that that was maybe a little bit weird before, but now
- 1:25:05with the RAM crisis and everything like that, I mean
- 1:25:09constable is kind of your only profitable Ave. after a.
- 1:25:12Little while, I don't know if that's still the the goal, but
- 1:25:15obviously we know from playing Star Citizen that the the, the
- 1:25:21the the hardware requirements to have a good looking, good
- 1:25:25playing game right now because it's unoptimized are very high.
- 1:25:29Yeah. Although I would say that if,
- 1:25:35if, if Squadron 42 is going to release no later than December
- 1:25:41of 2026, let's let's give them that big buffer.
- 1:25:45They have the whole year to release it, right, Because they
- 1:25:48didn't give a firm date of anything.
- 1:25:50They just said the year 2026. So now they have 12 months to
- 1:25:52release it. If you don't start seeing a
- 1:25:54bunch of hype trailers and a bunch of marketing happening
- 1:25:58starting I'd say in February, latest March, it's not going to
- 1:26:03release this year because you want to build that hype.
- 1:26:06You want to start building that hype.
- 1:26:08If they were smart, the Gillian Anderson's, the Gary Oldman,
- 1:26:13Mark Hamill. What's the other dude?
- 1:26:17Reeves Roths or something, I forget.
- 1:26:20There's so many actors that played roles in in the making a
- 1:26:23Squadron 42. If they don't have them, if they
- 1:26:26don't have them on the hype train, Yeah, if they don't have
- 1:26:29these folks on the hype train pumping out support for this
- 1:26:34title this year, I don't think it's going to happen.
- 1:26:37They'd be stupid not to. They need to spend that money to
- 1:26:40that make it happen. They need to build excitement
- 1:26:42for this game like nothing else. And I think all that right, all
- 1:26:46that good graces of Squadron 42 releasing and having a mag, you
- 1:26:52know, a mag. A giant success, basically
- 1:26:56bigger than anything they could ever dream of.
- 1:26:59If that happens, it's going to be nothing but a boon for us
- 1:27:02and, and, and Star Citizen, because then there's going to be
- 1:27:05so many people that want to continue the journey, right?
- 1:27:08And not wait for chapter two or three of Squadron 42 that
- 1:27:11they've talked about. Who knows how long that's going
- 1:27:14to take to happen, But in the meantime, you can play the MMO
- 1:27:17Star Citizen, and that's where you need that new blood to come
- 1:27:21in and play this game that we all love and enjoy.
- 1:27:24So all of us can prey upon the bobs.
- 1:27:28Well, I wouldn't say that, but you know, you need, you need to
- 1:27:31help, you need to constantly have new blood in your game or
- 1:27:35the game just becomes stagnant and dies over time.
- 1:27:40Yeah, yeah. I mean, you look at a game of
- 1:27:44this scope, I mean, the Squadron 42 with that kind of star power,
- 1:27:49you're seeing it, you know, as a panel at Comic Con, you know,
- 1:27:52San Diego Comic Con. And I could see that, You know,
- 1:27:56hopefully they do do that. I mean, they have the budget for
- 1:27:59it. They can, and it deserves that.
- 1:28:02But Star Citizen is really the title, you know, because your
- 1:28:06average gamer doesn't know Squadron 42.
- 1:28:09They know, Star Citizen, they know.
- 1:28:11They don't know it yet, Star Citizen, right?
- 1:28:13But that, that's what gets point too.
- 1:28:15This is their chance to use all those actors who they already
- 1:28:18spent tons of money on. They've got to use this
- 1:28:21opportunity to get people playing the game.
- 1:28:25You know, if they're smart, they're going to be, they're,
- 1:28:28they're going to set up booths at Comic Con, they're going to
- 1:28:30set up booths at, at whatever conventions there are.
- 1:28:34They're going to put little playable demos in front of
- 1:28:37people. You know, if they can just play
- 1:28:38for 5-10 minutes and it has to be fucking flawless.
- 1:28:41So the word gets out that holy shit, this is like next damn
- 1:28:44level. Des Moines Library Con.
- 1:28:48If, if, if they, if they can do something like that and, and,
- 1:28:51and bring that to bring that level of excitement to the
- 1:28:54table. This is nothing but a good thing
- 1:28:57for us. If it doesn't happen or it gets
- 1:28:59a slow roll and it gets a slow head of steam, it's going to be
- 1:29:03a death knell to, to, to the Squadron 42.
- 1:29:07And it may be even to us because we're not going to get what
- 1:29:11we're wanting or we are going to get it and it's just going to
- 1:29:14take even that much longer. But if they get the hype out
- 1:29:17there, if, if the machine churns and that churn starts generating
- 1:29:21income and generating new eyes and new, new experiences for new
- 1:29:25players and the word gets out, you know, it just takes a couple
- 1:29:28of decent content creators on on the Internet to to, to find this
- 1:29:33title and, you know, blast it, you know, signal boost like
- 1:29:37crazy. And next thing you know, you
- 1:29:40know, you're going to have all this, all this new blood into
- 1:29:43the, into the, into the universe of Star Citizen.
- 1:29:48And that's only a good thing. It's going to, there's going to
- 1:29:50be some negatives along with it also, obviously.
- 1:29:52But overall, I think it's a net positive.
- 1:29:57Yeah. OK.
- 1:29:58So 2026 ahead of us, we're all, let's just, let's just put it
- 1:30:04out there. Do you think Squadron 42 will
- 1:30:08release in 2026? We'll go around.
- 1:30:12I'll start off. I'm going to say no.
- 1:30:14I'll be a negative Nancy about it.
- 1:30:15I don't think it will. Lord Anubis, what do you think?
- 1:30:20I think I have the correct answer which is yes.
- 1:30:24OK, wicked, what do you think? I think also yes, and I think it
- 1:30:32has to release this year. OK, hobo.
- 1:30:37I'll agree with Wicked. Yes, and it has to release this
- 1:30:40year. Lots of positivity.
- 1:30:42They don't have the gauntlet. Duke.
- 1:30:47I'm going to shirk the positivity and instead say that
- 1:30:51it has to release this year like it has to the you know, Chris is
- 1:30:56going to be in there chaining people to their desk if it's
- 1:31:00looking like it's not going to happen.
- 1:31:03Crotch mullet. Chris Roberts, the big bad in
- 1:31:06Squan Four or two. Yeah, he plays a vandal.
- 1:31:10He he has the vandal. He, he, it has to, I really do
- 1:31:14think. So Grimandi.
- 1:31:17I think so. See even they they didn't do
- 1:31:19citizen Khan and I, I have a feeling it just they just wanted
- 1:31:24to pull everyone waste less time.
- 1:31:28You guys are Manchester. Murphy.
- 1:31:35Well, I say no. There we.
- 1:31:39Go sensible person. Wow.
- 1:31:42Yeah, I, I, I just, I have a feeling and nothing against
- 1:31:47them. I just, I can, I, can I give a
- 1:31:51percentage? How about a percentage?
- 1:31:54I say. Say whatever you want.
- 1:31:55I'm at 60% no, 40% yes. Right now he's.
- 1:32:00Hedging his bets already. This is the right now.
- 1:32:03I know, I know why he's. The Guild leader.
- 1:32:05This is why he's the Guild. Leader.
- 1:32:06But. I'd actually take it 6040.
- 1:32:08That's not a. Bad.
- 1:32:10I'm not a strong no, but I'm leaning towards no.
- 1:32:15I'm leaning towards I, I, well, I just say I see it early spring
- 1:32:202027. OK, yeah, I just.
- 1:32:28Hold on, we got one. More.
- 1:32:29Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm sorry.
- 1:32:31Sorry, I'm going to have to say I think it releases this year
- 1:32:34you. Mean.
- 1:32:37Tomorrow. Oh that would be damn OK.
- 1:32:43That's awesome. All right, Yeah.
- 1:32:46I'll take that bet. Yeah.
- 1:32:47Hey man, those those odds are going to be long, but the payoff
- 1:32:50is going to be big. They they, they got that ChatGPT
- 1:32:54super account that just like enables the entire the entire
- 1:32:59global AI for them. If I May 26, I think it's gonna
- 1:33:05happen late 2026. Is it possible for them to not
- 1:33:10release it in 2026 and still technically meet their promises?
- 1:33:17I. Mean early 2027.
- 1:33:19That's why, That's why I say that.
- 1:33:20But. Would that still meet their
- 1:33:22promises? What, like, what's the wordage
- 1:33:24that you're using to twist around and say what?
- 1:33:27What could Chris say and release then and be like, no, we, we did
- 1:33:31exactly what we said. The holidays it's.
- 1:33:34Not any really reasonable. OK, that's what I was just
- 1:33:38trying to think of it where there's some weasel words.
- 1:33:41Because they've said explicitly 2026 on more than one occasion.
- 1:33:45Yeah, but did they say release? I mean, maybe they maybe it's
- 1:33:48done, you know, the end of 262026, they could be like it's
- 1:33:52done. This is a feature complete
- 1:33:54argument. It's ready to be.
- 1:33:56It's ready to be released, but we're not going to release it
- 1:33:59yet. It's ready to be tested if you
- 1:34:02buy a ship. Well, they did have to redo the
- 1:34:05graphics for the game because it has been so long since they did
- 1:34:09the mocap that the engine had changed and the textures now
- 1:34:15could be updated and they did redo all of that.
- 1:34:21I I don't want to be negative, but who's excited for Squadron
- 1:34:2542? I am.
- 1:34:29That'd be cool. I want to fuel the lore of this.
- 1:34:34Universe. I've been playing in for like a
- 1:34:35decade and the best way to do that's a single player game.
- 1:34:39Like, we've seen bits and pieces of it, and you can read plenty
- 1:34:43here and there, but I want to feel the universe.
- 1:34:48I want to have like organizations, names and
- 1:34:52characters that I'm like, Oh yes, cool.
- 1:34:58I just want to make a sense. Of if I may.
- 1:35:01See if they properly implement controller support.
- 1:35:05I. I first.
- 1:35:06Started playing. Yeah, Robert's games Super Wing
- 1:35:10Commander one on the computer like a 360X2 a long time ago and
- 1:35:15I bought a Panasonic 3D O. It's because they were the Super
- 1:35:19Wing Commander on it in the 90s at some point.
- 1:35:24I don't even remember which year it was.
- 1:35:26And we were the other person with the 3D O.
- 1:35:28Yeah, and Wing Commander Armada and and Wing Commander the
- 1:35:37mercenary one. I mean, just every game that
- 1:35:39Chris Roberts has put out a Blade, Star Lancer, whatever.
- 1:35:42So I'm really looking forward to watching 42 personally, you
- 1:35:47know, and that was before I even knew there was going to be, I
- 1:35:51was never really excited about the, the, our citizen, the, the
- 1:35:58multiplayer game. I was always more concerned with
- 1:36:00the single player game. That was before, you know, I
- 1:36:04started playing Star Citizen and, you know, met a lot of
- 1:36:07these nice folks here and really started enjoying it.
- 1:36:10But as far as I'm concerned, that's that was one of my main
- 1:36:15reasons for even being here, yeah.
- 1:36:20OK, so we get Squadron 2026. It it comes out then we are, we
- 1:36:29are right on the precipice of Star Citizen releases.
- 1:36:34It's it's Christmas time, they released Squadron and Chris
- 1:36:37Roberts has a big announcement. It's well received.
- 1:36:40Everybody cheers and fucking nerds smashing soda cans on
- 1:36:45their heads. Everyone's stoked.
- 1:36:47And Chris Roberts says on our next project in 2027, Squadron
- 1:36:5342, Chapter 2. How do you?
- 1:36:58React goes wild. I'll be annoyed.
- 1:37:02I'd be annoyed. I would say that that would be
- 1:37:09suicide for the game project because again, Squadron 42, I
- 1:37:15will play for a week, maybe a month, right.
- 1:37:19But you know, our citizen is my 1015 year game.
- 1:37:26I could see it being that, you know, I mean, it's it's a
- 1:37:30forever game. It's the place where I get to
- 1:37:33see my friends. It's more than just a game.
- 1:37:36And that's where the money is. I hope they do continue to sell
- 1:37:41ships forever, you know, and then they release them a couple
- 1:37:44months later to buy with a UEC. OK, cool.
- 1:37:47But I do hope that they do keep, you know, the incentive to keep
- 1:37:51it funded, to keep it updated and to keep it live.
- 1:37:59Yeah. OK.
- 1:38:01Any any other takes on that? The next goal?
- 1:38:06Should be at 1.0. I.
- 1:38:07Think that should be need. To end.
- 1:38:12Yeah, if they announced that, I think a lot of people will be
- 1:38:14upset. I mean, it's, we've been being
- 1:38:16told for years now that development of Star Solution has
- 1:38:20held up because everyone's working on Squadron.
- 1:38:25And I think we're all sort of expecting, you know, to some
- 1:38:30extent the floodgates to open up for, for progress to be a little
- 1:38:35easier and a little more impactful once Squadron is done.
- 1:38:41And for them to announce we're, we're still going to keep just
- 1:38:45five people working on Star service in while everyone else
- 1:38:48works on, you know, Chapter 2. Now people will be pissed.
- 1:38:53I agree. Chapter 2 after Star Citizen
- 1:38:55goes to one point O awesome I I look forward to it, but not
- 1:38:59before. On one point O's release, I want
- 1:39:02Chris to come out and say well and crying, of course we did it,
- 1:39:07we did it now onwards and he's like Squadron 42 Chapter 2/20/20
- 1:39:16I don't know 8. No 20/30/20 Be honest.
- 1:39:22That's. David Beckham meme with with his
- 1:39:24wife. Be be honest.
- 1:39:27Yeah, be. Honest.
- 1:39:30OK, so. We.
- 1:39:33Have 2026. It is January now.
- 1:39:37After January, usually at the end of January, the beginning of
- 1:39:39February, they release Jared comes out and he says, oh, this
- 1:39:43is what we've planned this whole month in January, because
- 1:39:46January is the planning month. So they're going to announce
- 1:39:49what they foresee to us probably in the beginning of February,
- 1:39:54end of January. Anyone can take this.
- 1:39:58What is on that list of things for them to tackle in 2026?
- 1:40:06Crafting. Crafting.
- 1:40:08Well, we were supposed to get a crafting tech brief you before
- 1:40:12the end of the year, but. Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
- 1:40:16Let's look at the calendar. Knock, but there's still time.
- 1:40:21There's still time, maybe they could push one out tomorrow.
- 1:40:24But yeah, crafting. Yep, crafting Genesis.
- 1:40:29Dale Strom. Males.
- 1:40:32Strom, here's a is is is Castro and Squadron 42 doesn't have
- 1:40:39something to do with Squadron 42.
- 1:40:43I don't know. I don't.
- 1:40:44Think so. That's that military station
- 1:40:48that doesn't have any. Yeah.
- 1:40:49CASCOM, Castro, I don't believe it does, but Terra I think does.
- 1:40:56Terra. Can someone explain to me why
- 1:41:01they called a star system Terra? Did they just want to confuse
- 1:41:04everybody? Because it's like Earth Type 2,
- 1:41:07right? It's got like a second.
- 1:41:09Earth on it. The same reason that it could
- 1:41:11possibly in real life, because it's named by humans and humans
- 1:41:16it's Constantinople. Which is this realm?
- 1:41:21Earth to have those people that travel through the dirt.
- 1:41:26All right, well, that's that's about the end of the episode
- 1:41:29here. Wait.
- 1:41:30We're going to bring it down here.
- 1:41:31Wait. One more thing, Mr. Murphy, Jack
- 1:41:38is there. Since you have this open public
- 1:41:41forum, is there any announcements you care to make
- 1:41:44about Red Score I? Mean this is not a red score
- 1:41:49show. Yes, but he is a Red Score
- 1:41:52member. We're all Red Score members and
- 1:41:55I think the public forum a great time to announce the go on.
- 1:42:02You can take it from here. Yeah, he doesn't want to.
- 1:42:09He's buying a new ship. Go on.
- 1:42:13You're making me feel like I'm forgetting something.
- 1:42:16Oh, oh, oh, you're not. You're just avoiding it.
- 1:42:19You're avoiding it. Are you calling Murphy Jack a
- 1:42:22liar? Yeah.
- 1:42:25You calling me a liar? He he wants you to announce him.
- 1:42:28As the. No.
- 1:42:31It's. Got.
- 1:42:34To wait till 2026, that's all. I think I think I know what this
- 1:42:37is about. Unbelievable.
- 1:42:40That's all I believe with Unbelievable.
- 1:42:43Unbelievable. Does it start with G?
- 1:42:45Yes. Thank you.
- 1:42:47You start with what? GGG.
- 1:42:51Mm hmm. G.
- 1:42:55Officially changing it from an orb to a Guild.
- 1:42:57Yeah, there you go. Initially a Guild.
- 1:43:00We're a Guild. Bingo, that's.
- 1:43:02A That's a good place to end the year, so.
- 1:43:04It goes through 2026. Surprise.
- 1:43:08Damn. Everyone, I want to wish
- 1:43:10everybody a very, very happy and prosperous new year, very happy
- 1:43:13and prosperous. 2026. This has been open comms.
- 1:43:18We, we started in February of of 2025.
- 1:43:22So we're, we're up on a year now as the, you know, a full year
- 1:43:26we've we've gone from one subscriber to 150.
- 1:43:32So we are 150 times better and we've gone from having no guests
- 1:43:38to look at this room here. I'll get all these guests coming
- 1:43:41in and joining us and everyone here helps, makes the show well
- 1:43:46as as average in it as it can be, and everybody helps.
- 1:43:51We strive for. Me this and yeah and I, I love
- 1:43:57doing it and I love hanging out with you guys and this was just
- 1:43:59a a fun it was a spite show at this that's how it started
- 1:44:04because I I there was another show and they can't be waiting
- 1:44:08for an hour and a half and I was like, if I'm not going to keep
- 1:44:10people waiting for an hour and a half, that's so rude and so
- 1:44:13that's. How we started for 40 minutes.
- 1:44:16And you'll, you'll wait for maybe 20 minutes.
- 1:44:19We could, we could cut it down, but we have too many guests.
- 1:44:22What can I say? So I just want to thank you all
- 1:44:25for being here and, and, and thank you all for, for joining
- 1:44:27the show. And I don't, I don't say that
- 1:44:30stuff often, but I, I appreciate you all being here and, and,
- 1:44:35and, and I appreciate you all for listening as as well.
- 1:44:39Thank you for that. All right, OK.
- 1:44:43The end of Open COM season 1. Are we going to go around?
- 1:44:49We're going to go around. We're going to go around the
- 1:44:51last go round of 2025. Yeah.
- 1:44:56Wild card. Is there anything you'd like to
- 1:44:59say to CIG, Chris Roberts, or the people on the Internet?
- 1:45:03To Chris Robertson, Cigi would say hurry up.
- 1:45:08To everybody else, I would say. Go lose that bet.
- 1:45:14Yeah, it's, you know, 2026 right around the corner, man.
- 1:45:16Come on 25. We've got a few days left, so
- 1:45:21just come out and play. Let's have some fun.
- 1:45:25Very good. Murphy, Jack, Is there anything
- 1:45:27you'd like to say to Chris Roberts, CIG or the people on
- 1:45:29the Internet? CIG and Chris Roberts I I really
- 1:45:32want to see like a little more in game events centered around
- 1:45:38like Luminalia. You know, we get like resource
- 1:45:40drive and all this stuff, but what about a little bit more
- 1:45:43Luminalia? You know, maybe some
- 1:45:44decorations, maybe some NPC talk NPC wearing those fancy
- 1:45:50sweaters, you know, maybe you know, Stella, you got Stella
- 1:45:54Fortuna, you got the Halloween day of the Vara, right?
- 1:46:02Luminalia. Yep, Yep.
- 1:46:08Yeah, all right, all right. I like it.
- 1:46:11I like it. Crotch, mullet.
- 1:46:13Anything you want to say to CIG? Chris Roberts of the People on
- 1:46:15the Internet. I've been waiting all year to
- 1:46:17say this. Chris Roberts, I tell you this.
- 1:46:25OK. All right.
- 1:46:27You are. You fucking did it again.
- 1:46:31Oh. No, you know that.
- 1:46:32Like all the time. I wasn't looking at the monitor,
- 1:46:37so I didn't even see him pop off.
- 1:46:41OK, all right, all right. I see how it is.
- 1:46:43I see how it is wicked. Anything you want to say to CIG?
- 1:46:46Chris Roberts of the People on the Internet.
- 1:46:49Sandy Roberts, Chris Roberts, The versus power couple, please
- 1:46:55don't leave us hanging in 2026. Release your 42 and get on with
- 1:47:01making our forever game complete.
- 1:47:05The other thing I want to mention is mentioned a lot of
- 1:47:09things about what was great about 2025, and I neglected to
- 1:47:13mention one of the great things of 2025 was the birth of open
- 1:47:18comms. It's been a fun, fun time.
- 1:47:21I've enjoyed participating with you guys and look forward to
- 1:47:25next year. Have a great new year,
- 1:47:27everybody. Cosmic Hobo.
- 1:47:32Anything you want to say to CIG, Chris Roberts, or the people on
- 1:47:35the Internet? Please give us base building to
- 1:47:42like any capacity of it, like something base building that
- 1:47:45we've seen at Citizen Con last year.
- 1:47:52We need. Base building, we just, we need
- 1:47:55investments like that. All right, and Duke, you you
- 1:48:00can't say what hobo just said anything you want to say is CAG
- 1:48:04Chris Rapids people any net. Just, you know, keep working.
- 1:48:13I'm going to turn. I'm turning 41 next year and I
- 1:48:17don't want to be 42 before Squadron 42 comes out.
- 1:48:23That's what I'm saying. Wow.
- 1:48:24Nice. Swing.
- 1:48:28I was a lot younger when I started backing this game, just
- 1:48:31saying. Young and dumb.
- 1:48:34Young and dumb. Well, Lord Anubis, we did it.
- 1:48:39Yes, we did. We did it, we did it.
- 1:48:43This is this is the the end of Opal comms radio for 2025.
- 1:48:46Special shout out to Drake Tavington Tavros, my original Co
- 1:48:51host who comes in every weekend and watches the show still is
- 1:48:56with us in our hearts. And and special shout out to to
- 1:49:02everybody else, everybody here on the couch, everybody who gave
- 1:49:05some input. Anubis, you, you know how we do
- 1:49:08this. I do.
- 1:49:10And you know, Georgia, what do you have to say to Chris
- 1:49:17Roberts, CIG, or the people on the Internet?
- 1:49:26People on the Internet, don't lose hope.
- 1:49:29Get out there, walk around, walk a bit.
- 1:49:31People need to fucking walk more.
- 1:49:34OK. Fucking sitting in your car all
- 1:49:37the time. You just walk to the grocery
- 1:49:39store, get out there, write a sign, March on something that
- 1:49:45you support, you know, don't don't let the world pass you by
- 1:49:50this crazy shit going on. But most of us are, are pretty
- 1:49:53fine. Chris Roberts.
- 1:49:57Get it together, bro. Get just get it together, OK?
- 1:50:05We want topless dancers in game. Everyone's afraid to say it.
- 1:50:11Boobs. Play us out, Lord new of us.
- 1:50:14I will play you out, but I also want to just say one thing to
- 1:50:19the people. The Internet, if you're
- 1:50:23listening, yes. Keep having hope.
- 1:50:26Do the thing you love, even if it's cringe, you know?
- 1:50:31Even even if it's like you might be embarrassed if someone saw
- 1:50:34you. Honestly doesn't fucking matter.
- 1:50:36Do it in one life and when facing adversity, try to help
- 1:50:43people understand. Because that's the path to
- 1:50:45healing, and together we can make a better world for 2026 and
- 1:50:49beyond. Someone's going to get arrested
- 1:50:52tomorrow for exposing themselves in public, and they're going to
- 1:50:54tell they're going to. Do come on.
- 1:50:58Yes, yes, try to make sure. It's not.
- 1:51:03A felony or a misdemeanor, There you go.
- 1:51:07But do the nerdy thing. Trust me, embrace it.
- 1:51:10It'll change your fucking life from the bottom of my heart.
- 1:51:15Honestly, it will. But to play us out, I will do a
- 1:51:2312 part rendition of Danny Boy. I have a bagpipe here, Are you
- 1:51:30ready? Yeah, play us out.
