- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's I mean that happened. Yesterday.
- 0:02Speaker 2: We had a text from someone who had a really
- 0:06Speaker 2: an interest was trying to tell us an interesting story
- 0:09Speaker 2: by texting us.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you can text us quick things, but if it's
- 0:13Speaker 3: more than a sentence or two, it gets lost.
- 0:16Speaker 2: And Carrie sort of read through it and we got
- 0:19Speaker 2: a kind of a picture of what the person was
- 0:21Speaker 2: trying to say.
- 0:22Speaker 1: But Carrie said, what send us a send us a letter,
- 0:26Speaker 1: and she did.
- 0:28Speaker 4: So this is an email, oh interest, it is indeed,
- 0:37Speaker 4: I says, my text did not make too much sense.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Here is my letter. Good morning, lords and lady. My
- 0:42Speaker 2: name is August Tusher. I've been listening to you since
- 0:46Speaker 2: I was fourteen years old. I'm now almost forty seven
- 0:49Speaker 2: years old, and you have greatly influenced my life for
- 0:53Speaker 2: the better. I experienced a lot of trauma as a child,
- 0:57Speaker 2: a teenager, and a young adult, but I I feel
- 1:00Speaker 2: like listening to your show and hearing the music that
- 1:03Speaker 2: you played has uplifted me in more ways than I.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Could ever express to you all.
- 1:08Speaker 2: When I got married and had my first son, he
- 1:11Speaker 2: was born deaf and that was a hard thing to
- 1:13Speaker 2: wrap my head around. However, he was okay and thriving.
- 1:17Speaker 2: When he was five years old, he started declining with
- 1:20Speaker 2: balancing and walking, and then he started to lose vision.
- 1:24Speaker 2: We were constantly driving back and forth to Primary Children's
- 1:27Speaker 2: and the University of Utah in those hard times. I
- 1:31Speaker 2: turned to X ninety six. During those times when my
- 1:34Speaker 2: son was grim, was a grim age of thirteen to
- 1:38Speaker 2: nineteen years old, a child.
- 1:40Speaker 1: He lost more.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Of his abilities every day, and on those days I
- 1:45Speaker 2: turned to X ninety six. On December one, twenty twenty two,
- 1:49Speaker 2: he succumbed to his disease, and that night I went
- 1:52Speaker 2: to bed listening to X ninety six. You guys have
- 1:56Speaker 2: no clue how much impact you have on a person's
- 1:59Speaker 2: life for the better. I know people listen to morning
- 2:04Speaker 2: radio on their way to going to work or doing
- 2:06Speaker 2: whatever they do. But I get so much more out
- 2:09Speaker 2: of it, and it truly brightens my day. When we
- 2:12Speaker 2: went out to the National Institute of Help for Rare
- 2:15Speaker 2: Disease Research in Washington, d C. I desperately searched for
- 2:18Speaker 2: a station like X ninety six, and I couldn't find it.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Back and forth to nursing school at Weaver State University,
- 2:25Speaker 2: I listened to X ninety six, back and forth to
- 2:27Speaker 2: all my clinical rotations in graduate school. I listened to
- 2:31Speaker 2: X ninety six on the day I passed my board
- 2:34Speaker 2: to become a Family Nurse practitioner. I credit a lot
- 2:37Speaker 2: of my success to you all for keeping me going.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Thank you so much, August Tusher, msn APR n FNPC.
- 2:48Speaker 1: That's pretty pretty nice, August, thank you very much. That's
- 2:53Speaker 1: very nice.
- 2:53Speaker 5: I mean, you know, I Kerrie and I Bill, you'd
- 2:56Speaker 5: left the studio already, and yesterday Carrie and I where
- 3:00Speaker 5: it's sort of we're talking about the Jordan Klepper TV
- 3:04Speaker 5: show and how he, you know, goes and interviews the
- 3:09Speaker 5: mag of People, and it's and it's funny, but maybe
- 3:12Speaker 5: it's not so funny anymore.
- 3:14Speaker 6: It's it's funny, but then you think about it and
- 3:16Speaker 6: it just makes you sad.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 3: And I went home last night and I was talking
- 3:19Speaker 3: to my husband about it, and I said, I go
- 3:21Speaker 3: back and forth with what we do on this show,
- 3:24Speaker 3: with wanting to be informative and tell people what are
- 3:27Speaker 3: going on, but also wanting to be entertaining and fun.
- 3:31Speaker 3: And I I wrestle with it and we get a
- 3:36Speaker 3: letter like this, and I think Okay, maybe maybe we're
- 3:40Speaker 3: still balancing that.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Okay, I think so what you know, it's when I
- 3:46Speaker 2: read a letter like that, or I have people I'll
- 3:48Speaker 2: have very often people come up and talk to me
- 3:50Speaker 2: and express things like this letter to me personally, and
- 3:55Speaker 2: it makes me think, how can I stop doing this?
- 4:02Speaker 1: You know what I mean? I mean it's like you're
- 4:04Speaker 1: not planning on stuff. I can't do this forever.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I I just it's just it's like it's a it
- 4:12Speaker 2: makes it a responsibility that that's kind of it makes
- 4:19Speaker 2: it I don't know, I don't want to say it
- 4:21Speaker 2: makes it a burden, but it it kind of hangs
- 4:24Speaker 2: heavy on me sometimes, that if, and it makes me
- 4:31Speaker 2: wonder what I'm just thinking around here?
- 4:34Speaker 1: What what does how does that? How does that make somebody?
- 4:40Speaker 2: You know? So, so, how does how does that comfort somebody?
- 4:44Speaker 2: I don't I don't get it. I just I'm just
- 4:47Speaker 2: messing around.
- 4:49Speaker 6: I think you you're diminishing yourself by saying that.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I don't. I really don't you know
- 4:56Speaker 1: who you are.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Really, I really don't think what I'm doing is something
- 5:03Speaker 2: something that so.
- 5:04Speaker 6: Well evidence to the contrary right there in front of you.
- 5:09Speaker 3: It's but it's we're a distraction. That's a nice thing.
- 5:12Speaker 3: You know, when you're driving to the hospital, you don't
- 5:13Speaker 3: want to think about why you're driving to the hospital. Yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 3: but I I am. I am glad we can be
- 5:20Speaker 3: that for for people. And I would like to hear
- 5:23Speaker 3: from more friends of the program with with letters like that.
- 5:28Speaker 3: And I would also like to know how we can
- 5:31Speaker 3: how we can help you. What do you need from us?
- 5:34Speaker 3: I really do wrestle with with wanting to be funny
- 5:39Speaker 3: and entertaining, but yet giving this important information that I
- 5:43Speaker 3: think need doesn't has fewer and fewer places.
- 5:46Speaker 6: Where it's being I was going to say, it's like
- 5:47Speaker 6: I told you yesterday, where else are they going to
- 5:49Speaker 6: get this information? Because pretty soon, I mean, they just
- 5:51Speaker 6: keep shutting down. But watch that John Oliver from Sunday Night.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It'll scare the hell up. That's what I'm doing. Gina.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Don't worry when you get when you get too serious.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I'll I'll make a far I promise, I promise I'll
- 6:02Speaker 2: do that.
- 6:03Speaker 1: And I wish.
- 6:04Speaker 2: What I wish is that August would take this letter,
- 6:06Speaker 2: or that the sentiment in this letter and go door
- 6:09Speaker 2: to door and tell people about it.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Prosthetize.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Yes, because we need more people. We need to comfort
- 6:17Speaker 1: more people, we need.
- 6:19Speaker 6: To comfort clearly, clearly, we need to.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Start a cult. Yeah, clearly exactly. I mean at least
- 6:25Speaker 1: there'd be some money in that. Yeah, that's a good
- 6:28Speaker 1: that's a good idea. No, let's be a religion because
- 6:31Speaker 1: we're tax free at that. Oh there you go. Yeah,
- 6:33Speaker 1: we start a religion.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's that's a little bit more difficult to prove
- 6:38Speaker 2: to the authorities.
- 6:39Speaker 1: It's not. It's easy to prove that you're a cult.
- 6:43Speaker 2: You can prove that you're you know, one sacrifices all
- 6:46Speaker 2: you need, one human sacrifices.
- 6:47Speaker 1: All you need. You'll out the right paperwork.
- 6:51Speaker 6: The scientologists can do what we can do it.
- 6:55Speaker 1: It's uh.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Anyway, I'm glad we could be that. Be that for
- 6:59Speaker 2: August and and for other people. We get letters like
- 7:02Speaker 2: that from time to time and thank you, thanks for
- 7:05Speaker 2: being there for thank you for being there for us.
- 7:07Speaker 2: We wouldn't be here as long as we have been
- 7:11Speaker 2: if if there weren't enough people out there to.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Sell, if they would have got rid of us a
- 7:14Speaker 3: long time ago.
- 7:15Speaker 2: They tried a couple of times, Yeah, they have, they
- 7:19Speaker 2: tried a couple of times they tried not to get
- 7:21Speaker 2: rid of us, but to alter what we did. Yes,
- 7:23Speaker 2: we've had so many people, particularly early on, saying, oh,
- 7:27Speaker 2: that's not the way it's done. You can't do it, that,
- 7:29Speaker 2: you can't do that.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Let me, let me just remind both of you what
- 7:34Speaker 6: the great Jim Facer always said, The reason you guys
- 7:38Speaker 6: are number one is because everybody else sucks so bad.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Never forget that.
- 7:43Speaker 1: That's there's a lot of truth and that is a
- 7:47Speaker 1: true statement. He says that to us all the time.
- 7:50Speaker 2: And he also said, you know a monkey could do
- 7:53Speaker 2: your job, don't you
