- 0:10Speaker 1: Winter Insurance. Did I'm true, I'm a check Out one Insurance,
- 0:15Speaker 1: good Actrue than is Hey.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Everybody, welcome to Conspiracy The Show. I'm your host Adam
- 0:36Speaker 2: Todd Brown joining me as co host this week. Donor's here.
- 0:39Speaker 2: How's it going?
- 0:40Speaker 3: Man? Going great? How you doing, Adam?
- 0:42Speaker 2: I am doing fantastic, just like everyone is doing right now.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It's a great time to be alive. And we have
- 0:49Speaker 2: a fantastic guest with us today. Alie Gogowski's here.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Yes, Hi, how's it going?
- 0:55Speaker 3: Oh?
- 0:56Speaker 2: Just wonderful.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Perfect.
- 0:57Speaker 2: We're in La. Everything's great in La.
- 1:00Speaker 4: That's exactly no fires here.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03Speaker 3: We're all excited about our new president.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, and we're we're talking about our new what's
- 1:10Speaker 2: RFK Junior's role in.
- 1:11Speaker 5: The health's health secretary or some ceretary of health. There's
- 1:16Speaker 5: something with health.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I heard a woman at the car wash the other
- 1:21Speaker 3: day talk about RFK and she said, yeah, and then
- 1:23Speaker 3: there's RFK. He's going to make us healthy again. But
- 1:26Speaker 3: the way she said it was like, Oh, that's Gordon.
- 1:28Speaker 3: He's the big steam engine. He carries all the coal.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah. What we're talking about today actually makes me feel
- 1:37Speaker 2: a little better about RFK. Junior, just in this one respect,
- 1:43Speaker 2: because this theory isn't as crazy as it seems, which
- 1:47Speaker 2: is the theory that fluoride in drinking water could be
- 1:51Speaker 2: a bad thing. It seems like that's very possible. It's
- 1:55Speaker 2: just not a bad thing in the way a lot
- 1:58Speaker 2: of conspiracy theory make it out to be case. I point,
- 2:02Speaker 2: it's not a communist plot to take over the United States.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I don't think might be.
- 2:07Speaker 4: No, I'm pro fluoride in the water.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 5: I think he wants to take it out to make
- 2:12Speaker 5: us all sick so then we'll spend more money on
- 2:15Speaker 5: health insurance.
- 2:16Speaker 3: See, I'm pro fluoride in the water because I want
- 2:18Speaker 3: to go to sleep. I want to believe the government's lies,
- 2:22Speaker 3: you know. I want to buy into the fucking military
- 2:24Speaker 3: industrial complex. I don't want to be a free thinker.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I don't want to have all this fucking doubt in
- 2:29Speaker 3: my head. Just like, make me a fucking surf, give
- 2:31Speaker 3: me the fluoride.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I'm still on the fence. I think
- 2:36Speaker 2: I don't know. It seems like we could do without it, maybe.
- 2:40Speaker 3: But try what if we try it without it for
- 2:43Speaker 3: a month or two, you know, Yeah, to see how
- 2:45Speaker 3: it goes see if we all become amazing painters and
- 2:47Speaker 3: sculptors and shit.
- 2:50Speaker 5: But you're saying that nobody has been an amazing painter
- 2:52Speaker 5: and sculptor and since what the nineteen forty is.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'm saying they had to fight through
- 2:58Speaker 3: their calcified pineal glands in order to bring us those masterpieces.
- 3:04Speaker 4: I disagree. I don't think Florid, but.
- 3:08Speaker 3: At least is distancing herself very early in the show,
- 3:11Speaker 3: which is how you know it's gonna be a good episode.
- 3:13Speaker 4: No, because I'm.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Pro Florid, and I think it's a conspiracy that they're
- 3:16Speaker 5: taking it out because they want to make us sick
- 3:18Speaker 5: and our bones brittle and our teeth rotted out. My
- 3:21Speaker 5: teeth are perfect, and I've been drinking that Florid shit
- 3:24Speaker 5: all my life.
- 3:25Speaker 3: We do need bones and teeth. I forgot about that.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Lord knows I'm not taking care of my own bone.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Is there evidence that it makes bones stronger?
- 3:31Speaker 5: I think it does. I have healthy teeth. I can
- 3:34Speaker 5: bite it through a fucking apple, no problem.
- 3:36Speaker 3: WHOA, Well, that's flex right, humble brag.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I've never had a cavity.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Never. Never, I've had a bunch. Why is it florade
- 3:47Speaker 2: working for me?
- 3:48Speaker 4: You're probably not drinking enough of it.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Oh I drink a shit ton of water, yeah, more
- 3:53Speaker 2: than me.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Never had a cavity. I think Alas is an op.
- 3:58Speaker 3: It's suspicious.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Am I supposed to be pro taking the florid out
- 4:05Speaker 5: of the water? Because that's not what I got from
- 4:08Speaker 5: this prompt? What am I supposed to be on your side?
- 4:12Speaker 2: No, you don't have to be on anyone's side.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Okay, then shut the fuck up, Connor.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I thought I was joking around on this comedy podcast. Hoops.
- 4:23Speaker 4: No, there's no joking about floride.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Seems like it. So the conspiracy theories about this didn't
- 4:30Speaker 2: start with the movie Doctor Strangelove, but it sure seems
- 4:34Speaker 2: like that's where it kind of entered the mainstream. The
- 4:38Speaker 2: mainstream right.
- 4:39Speaker 4: I saw, but.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Of that movie involves starting a nuclear war to thwart
- 4:46Speaker 2: a communist plot to quote SAP and impurify the precious
- 4:51Speaker 2: bodily fluids of the American people by way of fluoridated water.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Does anyone seemed Doctor Strangelove? I have not.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I saw it a lot long time ago.
- 5:01Speaker 3: It reminds me of like people that took adrenochrome from
- 5:04Speaker 3: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and spun it off
- 5:07Speaker 3: into a whole other universe of like conspiracy theories, like
- 5:12Speaker 3: the thing from a movie that we forgot was from
- 5:14Speaker 3: a movie.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I still always forget that that kind of started with
- 5:19Speaker 2: that movie. Hunter S.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Thompson was as good at thinking the cool ass names
- 5:22Speaker 3: for things for the book. Probably right, Yeah, it's in
- 5:25Speaker 3: the book.
- 5:25Speaker 2: OK So, yeah, it's been a controversial thing or as
- 5:31Speaker 2: long as it's been happening, which was the nineteen forties.
- 5:36Speaker 2: What I find really interesting is this is not settled
- 5:41Speaker 2: science at all in terms of whether fluoride's safe to
- 5:46Speaker 2: be in water, whether it actually works the way we
- 5:50Speaker 2: think it does for teeth. None of that seems to
- 5:54Speaker 2: actually have been resolved because I have it later in
- 5:58Speaker 2: the notes. But the cd SEE in nineteen ninety nine
- 6:01Speaker 2: reverse course and said fluoride works topically. It works on
- 6:06Speaker 2: the tooth after the tooth has grown into your mouth.
- 6:11Speaker 3: So I should like I should switch it around to
- 6:13Speaker 3: my mouth like listerine.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Well, yeah, it's in toothpaste and mouthwash. And the CDC
- 6:19Speaker 2: way back in nineteen ninety nine said, like, that's how
- 6:23Speaker 2: you use fluoride to make your teeth better.
- 6:25Speaker 3: So why are we drinking it?
- 6:26Speaker 2: Man? I don't know, and not everyone does. It's not
- 6:30Speaker 2: a federally mandated thing. It's a state thing gets state
- 6:34Speaker 2: by state California.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Man, I would love to be such a serious conspiracy
- 6:38Speaker 3: theorist where I'd be like, come on, honey, we're packing
- 6:40Speaker 3: up the kids and we're going to a no fluoride state.
- 6:44Speaker 2: It does seem like if it has negative health impacts,
- 6:49Speaker 2: it's more on babies, and well, fuck who cares? Yeah,
- 6:54Speaker 2: like in the womb and come on, what do we big.
- 6:57Speaker 3: If they can't survive a little fluoride? Do we really
- 7:00Speaker 3: mucking up society voting and driving and eating for food?
- 7:04Speaker 3: I don't think. So.
- 7:05Speaker 2: It's an excellent point. So as a result of all
- 7:09Speaker 2: of this uncertainty around it, that's why there's so many
- 7:12Speaker 2: conspiracy theories around it. When scientists don't even completely agree
- 7:17Speaker 2: on something, conspiracy theorists are going to have a fucking
- 7:20Speaker 2: field day.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Yeah, we're at two out of four dentists no man's land.
- 7:27Speaker 4: So then why do they think it's a communist thing
- 7:30Speaker 4: to make us dumb?
- 7:31Speaker 2: Well, that was back in the nineteen forties and fifties,
- 7:34Speaker 2: primarily that theory fell out of favor with Doctor Strangelove.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Once Doctor Strangelove parodied it, people started not believing it anymore.
- 7:46Speaker 2: And there were even anti fluoride types at the time
- 7:51Speaker 2: or since who talk about the communist thing and they're like,
- 7:54Speaker 2: don't say it's communism. It's not fucking communism. That's not
- 7:58Speaker 2: the problem. But in the forties and fifties, everything was communism.
- 8:03Speaker 2: That's just what this country did. We sniffed out communists.
- 8:08Speaker 2: It was our whole fucking thing. It's what the Office
- 8:10Speaker 2: of Naval Intelligence was doing.
- 8:12Speaker 3: You could literally be like, sorry, dad, I got to
- 8:15Speaker 3: see because I was up late to be just worried
- 8:17Speaker 3: about the Communists, you know, the Reds coming to put
- 8:21Speaker 3: stuff in my water to make me gay.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I mean, you could kind of at that time if
- 8:25Speaker 2: he wanted to just go to someone and say, hey,
- 8:27Speaker 2: I think my kid's teacher is a communist, and they'd
- 8:29Speaker 2: at least get talked to by the government.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yeah, you get a knock on the door, you know.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it was a crazy time because this did
- 8:38Speaker 2: start during the Second Red Scare.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Let's talk about the ultimate cavity creep Joe McCarthy.
- 8:46Speaker 2: And yeah, it kicked off during the Second Red Scare,
- 8:49Speaker 2: so that's when you know we were all up in
- 8:52Speaker 2: arms about communists everywhere. I've told the story a bunch
- 8:56Speaker 2: of times. The only reason Dodger Stadium is where it
- 8:59Speaker 2: is is because that used to be a community of
- 9:02Speaker 2: Mexican immigrants, and this guy was like, man, we should
- 9:06Speaker 2: tear that down and rebuild it better for them and
- 9:08Speaker 2: let them move back in. And the city approved the plan,
- 9:12Speaker 2: and then at one point someone was like, oh no,
- 9:14Speaker 2: actually that's communism what you're proposing. So once everyone was
- 9:19Speaker 2: moved out, they threw that guy in fucking prison for
- 9:22Speaker 2: a year and then built Dodger Stadium on.
- 9:26Speaker 3: That for the crime of sustainable urban planning.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yep, yep, that was deemed communism, and he went to
- 9:32Speaker 2: fucking prison for it.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Not to get all eugenic on the show, but it
- 9:36Speaker 3: is surprising that so many Mexican people still fuck with
- 9:38Speaker 3: the Dodgers.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I've said that so many times, and I think, I
- 9:43Speaker 2: honestly think a big part of it is just Fernando Valenzuela.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Laughing because I'm pretending I get the reference. That's sports.
- 9:53Speaker 2: He was a pitcher for the Dodgers in the eighties.
- 9:58Speaker 2: There is a mural of him somewhere near.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Where you used to live Echo Park.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Yeah, when you used to live in that nightmare house
- 10:08Speaker 2: where record. There's a Fernando Valenzuela mural somewhere around there.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Because that's not far.
- 10:15Speaker 3: It's been replaced with three Kobegg murals that are very
- 10:19Speaker 3: poorly drawn.
- 10:21Speaker 2: That would not surprise me at all. So, yeah, the
- 10:25Speaker 2: communism stuff, it started during the Second Red Scare. The
- 10:28Speaker 2: first fluoridation of water was in nineteen forty five in Michigan,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and the first successful effort to block fluoride in water
- 10:39Speaker 2: happened in Wisconsin in nineteen fifty. And even then that
- 10:44Speaker 2: was kind of just on communist rounds more than anything.
- 10:48Speaker 4: So Wisconsin doesn't have any fluoride in their water.
- 10:51Speaker 2: They do now. I think most of the United States
- 10:56Speaker 2: has at least some fluoride in their water, and even
- 11:01Speaker 2: the part where some studies have shown that it might
- 11:04Speaker 2: have detrimental effects on brain development, there's only I think
- 11:10Speaker 2: less than two million people who are currently drinking tap
- 11:14Speaker 2: water with that level of floride in it. So even
- 11:19Speaker 2: if it's a problem, it's not a huge problem.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and the people in Wisconsin. I mean, who cares?
- 11:25Speaker 3: These are lost leaders of the American population.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Well, I thought they didn't have floride. So I was
- 11:31Speaker 5: curious how many artists came from Wisconsin that you could name.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Yeah, does Eric Foreman from that seventies show count.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I lived in Wisconsin for a few years. The water
- 11:47Speaker 2: in Wisconsin is surprisingly bad, especially in the rural areas.
- 11:53Speaker 3: They put cheese in it.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's mostly just molten cheese. And I was at
- 11:58Speaker 2: a bar once and was and there was literally a
- 12:01Speaker 2: sign on the wall that was like, hey, you're pregnant,
- 12:04Speaker 2: don't wash your hands.
- 12:05Speaker 5: What it's worse than Flint, Michigan.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know how. It never became a big story.
- 12:14Speaker 2: But not long after the Flint Michigan thing broke, I
- 12:18Speaker 2: want to say it was Reuters did a investigation and
- 12:23Speaker 2: found that there are actually like three thousand communities in
- 12:26Speaker 2: the United States that have the same problem Flint has, Yes.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Three thousand. How many fucking communities are there? Eight thousand?
- 12:35Speaker 2: Like, yeah, that was my question. Do we have enough
- 12:38Speaker 2: states to have three thousand fucking communities?
- 12:41Speaker 3: What a ratio? My god? Am I looking at one
- 12:43Speaker 3: of milo Yaianopolis's tweets.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Now that's nuts. And so it seems like the main
- 12:50Speaker 2: claim now is more floride makes kids stupid, and yeah, maybe,
- 12:55Speaker 2: but also anything all any of these studies is ever
- 12:59Speaker 2: said is that it lowers IQ by a few points.
- 13:03Speaker 2: And it's like, well, what are we talking like one
- 13:06Speaker 2: twenty five versus one twenty one? Because if so, that's
- 13:09Speaker 2: that's still fine. But it doesn't seem like it has
- 13:12Speaker 2: that much of an effect. But it also seems like
- 13:16Speaker 2: it doesn't have maybe as much benefit as we thought before.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Going through these different angles. It is definitely like a
- 13:24Speaker 3: cost benefit analysis that you have to do with the fluoride,
- 13:28Speaker 3: and yeah, I don't know quite what to make of
- 13:30Speaker 3: it either.
- 13:31Speaker 2: There is another conspiracy that popped up around the eighties
- 13:36Speaker 2: that claimed the Nazis used fluoride on concentration camps and
- 13:42Speaker 2: in the ghettos in Germany, and.
- 13:45Speaker 4: They had amazing teeth if you checked the yeah records.
- 13:51Speaker 3: They wanted to protect the gold fillings they were going
- 13:53Speaker 3: to take in a few months.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and PolitiFact reached out to a Holocaust expert who
- 14:01Speaker 2: put them in touch with a historian named Patricia Hebberer.
- 14:07Speaker 2: And the Nazi thing is a myth. She was like,
- 14:09Speaker 2: not only did they not put lride in the water,
- 14:13Speaker 2: they barely gave Jews water in Germany by it was
- 14:21Speaker 2: just like no water in the ghettos, the concentration camps,
- 14:25Speaker 2: much less floridated water.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a much quicker way to suppress somebody. Huh.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, that's way easier than messing with the water.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Taking down four IQ points and waiting for natural selection
- 14:37Speaker 3: to run its course.
- 14:39Speaker 2: What people cite when they are making that claim is
- 14:43Speaker 2: a nineteen eighty seven booklet by a Australian writer self published.
- 14:50Speaker 3: A lot of damage from a booklet, not even a
- 14:52Speaker 3: full book, A booklet.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yeah, booklet by a writer named ian E Stevens, and
- 14:59Speaker 2: an excerpt that booklet was published in a new age
- 15:03Speaker 2: publication in Australia called Nexus in nineteen ninety five. No Rush,
- 15:08Speaker 2: and this was his claim. Repeated doses of infinitesimal amounts
- 15:15Speaker 2: of fluoride will in time reduce an individual's power to
- 15:19Speaker 2: resist domination by slowly poisoning and narketizing a certain area
- 15:25Speaker 2: of the brain, and will thus make him submissive to
- 15:28Speaker 2: the will of those who wished to govern him. Both
- 15:31Speaker 2: the Germans and the Russians added sodium fluoride to the
- 15:34Speaker 2: drinking water prisoners of war to make them stupid and docile,
- 15:38Speaker 2: and quote and yeah, that does seem like such a
- 15:41Speaker 2: long con to run out when I mean they were
- 15:44Speaker 2: gasing people.
- 15:46Speaker 3: It is the same basic argument as like the New
- 15:48Speaker 3: Age pineal gland people. But we'll get to that.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, I missed that one. That's going to
- 15:54Speaker 2: be the Connor segment at the end.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Connor's corollary.
- 16:01Speaker 2: And people also cite a two thousand and four book
- 16:04Speaker 2: by an investigative journalist named Christopher Bryson called The Fluoride
- 16:08Speaker 2: Deception when they're making this claim about Nazis. Problem with
- 16:12Speaker 2: that book, it's not what the title suggests. It's just
- 16:16Speaker 2: a history of opposition to fluoridation in water. It's not
- 16:22Speaker 2: a conspiracy theory book about fluoride in water being a problem.
- 16:27Speaker 2: And they reached out to the guy who wrote it
- 16:30Speaker 2: and he literally said, I never came across any documentation
- 16:34Speaker 2: or credible information showing that fluoride was used in Nazi
- 16:38Speaker 2: death camps.
- 16:39Speaker 3: When you're writing the book about something as boring as fluoride,
- 16:42Speaker 3: you've got to give it a clickbait title. You know.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, And so then that brings us to what are
- 16:49Speaker 2: the actual arguments against fluoride as opposed to the conspiracy
- 16:54Speaker 2: theory stuff? And where better to get those answers than
- 16:58Speaker 2: from our anti flo loride crusader in chief RFK Junior.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I mean, do we even know where his stuff comes from?
- 17:08Speaker 3: They're killing the babies.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like the first person who can like
- 17:13Speaker 2: accurately nail that voice. Man, they're gonna be rich. You
- 17:18Speaker 2: gotta like cut in and out like you have a
- 17:21Speaker 2: bad zoom connection.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to buffer your voice somehow, like it's
- 17:26Speaker 3: forty four killer herts coming over a bad Wi Fi connection. No, yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 3: I mean I smoked from the twenty one to thirty one,
- 17:33Speaker 3: and I can't make my voice fucked up enough to
- 17:36Speaker 3: sound even close to that bad.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's wild.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Oh No, I think it's the worm I'm doing the talking,
- 17:42Speaker 5: not him. It's like the guy from Men in Black
- 17:46Speaker 5: when he puts on the skin suit. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 17:51Speaker 5: an aliens inside of him.
- 17:53Speaker 2: So this video, I will I'll give you the good news.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Our FK Junior does not talk a lot in this video.
- 18:01Speaker 2: It is more an attorney named Michael Kannitt, who basically
- 18:05Speaker 2: took the EPA to court to try and compel them
- 18:11Speaker 2: to change their standards when it comes to fluoride in water.
- 18:17Speaker 2: And he actually makes some pretty interesting points, and the
- 18:23Speaker 2: things that happened in this lawsuit are kind of sketchy.
- 18:27Speaker 2: For example, the EPA did not call their own in
- 18:32Speaker 2: house fluoride experts as witnesses in this trial. They reached
- 18:37Speaker 2: out to people in the chemical industry, like Monsano types
- 18:43Speaker 2: and had their experts come and talk. So this guy
- 18:47Speaker 2: called the EPA's in house experts as witnesses and showed
- 18:52Speaker 2: them this report that came out in two thousand and six.
- 18:57Speaker 2: That one does suggest that there are some links between
- 19:02Speaker 2: fluoride and water and reduced IQ in children. And it
- 19:06Speaker 2: also recommended that the EPA lower the acceptable level of
- 19:12Speaker 2: fluoride in water from like four like micrograms per leeter,
- 19:15Speaker 2: what the fuck.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Ever parts per million or whatever.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yeah, the two and the EPA never did that. And
- 19:22Speaker 2: when he called their witnesses to be deposed and showed
- 19:27Speaker 2: them this report, they were both like, yeah, on these grounds,
- 19:31Speaker 2: it probably should be something that is re examined at
- 19:35Speaker 2: some point. So I found that pretty compelling.
- 19:40Speaker 5: I want to know what these kids are though, what
- 19:43Speaker 5: they were just stupid to begin with. They just found
- 19:45Speaker 5: the stupidest kids and then they tested them.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it could be.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Yeah, there's the conspiracy right there, confirmation bias.
- 19:54Speaker 2: You can also read the report. It's not mystery like
- 19:57Speaker 2: it's out there.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I'm not big into reading fluoride growing up.
- 20:04Speaker 2: The report came out in two thousand and six.
- 20:06Speaker 3: You know, I just realized every time I take an
- 20:08Speaker 3: IQ test, I get like one thirty five and one
- 20:10Speaker 3: forties genius. I just realized fluoride cheated me out of
- 20:13Speaker 3: fucking mensa status. Oh as meaningless as that is.
- 20:18Speaker 2: There was a basically a televised IQ test a long
- 20:22Speaker 2: time ago. It was just like a trivia show, but
- 20:26Speaker 2: you were taking an IQ test.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Are you smarter than a fifth grader?
- 20:33Speaker 2: One of the most shocking things about it, South Dakota
- 20:36Speaker 2: came in first.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Hey, I guess you got nothing with no electricity, you
- 20:40Speaker 3: got nothing to do but read.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and here's the thing. I lived in South Dakota
- 20:44Speaker 2: at the time, and my IQ according to that show,
- 20:48Speaker 2: was one thirty eight. So I also got fucked out
- 20:51Speaker 2: a genius level man in drinking water and now Old
- 20:56Speaker 2: Bulkowski's here to fucking advocate for it.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Robin or nose, isn't it.
- 21:02Speaker 4: I never took an IQ test. Ignorance is bliss.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Adam has lived in every state that Bruce Springsteen has
- 21:11Speaker 3: written a song about a character from.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Basically. So he also deposed a CDC representative and he
- 21:22Speaker 2: was like, what information do you have on the impacts
- 21:25Speaker 2: of fluoride in water? And the guy was like, Nah,
- 21:28Speaker 2: the EPA tracks that, and so he asked the EPA
- 21:30Speaker 2: and they were like, no, CDC takes care of that.
- 21:33Speaker 2: So it seems like something no one is really monitoring
- 21:37Speaker 2: at all, probably just because it's been happening for so
- 21:40Speaker 2: long and we're fine.
- 21:41Speaker 3: So, yeah, it's not like a it's not a five
- 21:45Speaker 3: alarm fire, you know. Yeah, A couple South Dakota and
- 21:48Speaker 3: IQ points.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And there is another interesting detail that comes up during
- 21:55Speaker 2: this trial. There were two undisputed facts, meaning the EPA
- 22:00Speaker 2: agreed had no objection. One, fluoride gets through the placenta
- 22:05Speaker 2: and enters the fetal brain. Two, the blood brain barrier
- 22:09Speaker 2: that protects us from neurotoxins entering the brain is not
- 22:13Speaker 2: developed in the womb or for like the first six
- 22:16Speaker 2: months of life. So it is possible that fluoride in
- 22:21Speaker 2: drinking water does impact the babies in some way, but
- 22:26Speaker 2: all of the studies just kind of suggest it because
- 22:29Speaker 2: there's not really enough information to prove it.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess you'd need someone to give you a
- 22:34Speaker 3: bunch of money, and a bunch of people would have
- 22:36Speaker 3: to put up a bunch of babies and be like,
- 22:37Speaker 3: all right, let's san blast them with floride and we'll see.
- 22:41Speaker 3: What's what I mean, we gotta I mean, these are
- 22:44Speaker 3: the babies that could save all the other babies, So
- 22:46Speaker 3: I mean, in a way, it'll be a stupid hero
- 22:48Speaker 3: your child.
- 22:50Speaker 2: The video does bring up another theory that I found
- 22:53Speaker 2: really interesting, and far be it from me to suggest
- 22:57Speaker 2: that corporate America could ever get up to high jinks
- 23:01Speaker 2: of this nature. But what they suggest is that one,
- 23:05Speaker 2: there were a bunch of people who worked on the
- 23:07Speaker 2: Manhattan Project who were in some way injured by coming
- 23:11Speaker 2: into contact with fluoride or fluorine. And two that a
- 23:16Speaker 2: bunch of corporations at the time, like chemical companies things
- 23:20Speaker 2: are like, were polluting the water in the environment with
- 23:24Speaker 2: fluoride and that they knew this was going to become
- 23:28Speaker 2: litigation at some point. So what they did to head
- 23:31Speaker 2: that off was round up a few influenceable scientists, which
- 23:37Speaker 2: they absolutely exist.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Check out the Dead Kennedy song well paid Scientists from
- 23:42Speaker 3: nineteen eighty one.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we know they're out there. They're scientists
- 23:46Speaker 2: that will tell you COVID isn't real.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Well, there's still scientists they're like, wow, cigarettes are you know?
- 23:51Speaker 3: I mean, they're not bad for your bones?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I had an argument on the podcast with a
- 23:56Speaker 2: comedian who some doctor got it in this guy's head
- 24:00Speaker 2: that cigarettes aren't addictive and nicotine's not addictive. Well, then
- 24:04Speaker 2: what the fuck is it?
- 24:05Speaker 5: Man?
- 24:06Speaker 4: It's really cool.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Obviously that but yeah, the suggestion is that they influenced
- 24:16Speaker 2: scientists to put it out there that hey, fluoride is
- 24:19Speaker 2: a thing we need, we should actually put it in
- 24:23Speaker 2: our water. And that movement worked, and now we have
- 24:26Speaker 2: fluoride in our water when it's actually a pollutant.
- 24:30Speaker 3: This is very easy to believe. For me. This is
- 24:33Speaker 3: feeling like the most plausible Occam's razor of human shittiness.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't, especially back then, that was the nineteen forties.
- 24:43Speaker 2: We didn't have laws like we were testing nuclear weapons
- 24:48Speaker 2: all over the place and just watching that shit through binoculars.
- 24:52Speaker 2: That could not have been safe, right, I would think, yeah,
- 24:55Speaker 2: and it.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Just was probably easier to be corrupt. I mean, we've
- 24:58Speaker 3: had almost one hundred more years of science since then.
- 25:01Speaker 2: And yeah, that's the other thing, these initiatives to put
- 25:05Speaker 2: fluoride in water. There's still not a ton of science
- 25:08Speaker 2: behind how safe it is now. So imagine what we
- 25:11Speaker 2: had in nineteen forty five, Almost no science behind it.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Yeah, just one guide Exxon going yeah, it's like it's
- 25:18Speaker 3: good for your bones.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Come on, yeah, I mean if that is really how
- 25:23Speaker 2: it happened, then I feel like we shouldn't have fluoride
- 25:27Speaker 2: in our drinking water. Like, I know, it sucks to
- 25:30Speaker 2: have to agree with our FK junior, but.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Is that really what happened? Though? This is under a theory,
- 25:36Speaker 4: that's their header.
- 25:37Speaker 2: It's a theory for sure.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I mean, evolution is a theory.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I don't know. This sounds believable, but I
- 25:44Speaker 4: don't want to believe it.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I like Florid, well, you have great teeth, so you're
- 25:50Speaker 3: biased exactly.
- 25:52Speaker 4: It's Florid.
- 25:53Speaker 3: You don't have a fucking haunted jack lantern in your
- 25:56Speaker 3: mouth like I do.
- 25:57Speaker 5: It's because my parents loved me enough to get bright,
- 26:00Speaker 5: says me.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Either're like, this is a low IQ flooride. Baby, it's
- 26:06Speaker 3: fuck it. Teeth are straight and brown, like uh, Kobe Bryant.
- 26:12Speaker 3: I couldn't think of a heterosexual black guy fast enough
- 26:15Speaker 3: for that joke.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Yeah, my teeth aren't the greatest. But also I have
- 26:20Speaker 2: this like tiny bird mouth, so whenever sees my teeth,
- 26:24Speaker 2: I have to get a crown on one of my
- 26:26Speaker 2: front teeth. No shit, I'm gonna get a gold tooth.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Fuck yeah, before you said it, I knew it.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that is life goals right there, right there. Oh,
- 26:37Speaker 2: I'll see my fucking teeth. That's like that's instant teeth
- 26:41Speaker 2: whitening too, because now like everything.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Is like, oh, that's right. It's like getting a tan
- 26:46Speaker 4: instead of whitening your teeth.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, it's just like less yellow.
- 26:50Speaker 3: It's like getting a face tattoo if you're fat. Everyone
- 26:52Speaker 3: just focuses on the you know, I just see the one.
- 26:57Speaker 2: So one of the things I found pretty into that
- 27:00Speaker 2: comes up in that video, and I went out and
- 27:04Speaker 2: found the report from the CDC in nineteen ninety nine,
- 27:08Speaker 2: the CDC did a study into fluoride in drinking water,
- 27:13Speaker 2: and for the longest time, the belief was you had
- 27:16Speaker 2: to ingest it to get the benefits from it, And
- 27:20Speaker 2: I mentioned this earlier in the pod. Also in nineteen
- 27:23Speaker 2: ninety nine, they issued this report and reversed that. They
- 27:27Speaker 2: said fluoride works best as a topical thing, like when
- 27:31Speaker 2: you apply it directly to your teeth via toothpaste or mouthwash.
- 27:37Speaker 2: So if nothing else, the CDC has kind of implied
- 27:42Speaker 2: we don't need fluoride in drinking water. And at that point,
- 27:46Speaker 2: I don't know, like, why why have it?
- 27:48Speaker 3: It's got to be costing somebody some money, you would think, like,
- 27:52Speaker 3: I think.
- 27:52Speaker 5: It's the benefit for people because a lot of people
- 27:55Speaker 5: don't have access to dental hygiene or going to the dentist.
- 28:00Speaker 5: If they get the flora and at least they have
- 28:01Speaker 5: some kind of production.
- 28:03Speaker 3: It's a government safety net for your teeth, I think.
- 28:06Speaker 5: So, I think the government's done some good, not all good,
- 28:10Speaker 5: but like they've done some good things.
- 28:12Speaker 3: That's I'm not saying. I'm not saying you're wrong with
- 28:15Speaker 3: It's a hard nut to sell on conspiracy. The show the.
- 28:19Speaker 5: Government changed the Golf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
- 28:22Speaker 5: And you're gonna tell me the government hasn't done one
- 28:24Speaker 5: good thing.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Undeniably good.
- 28:26Speaker 3: They did have our back with that one.
- 28:28Speaker 4: I know, I can afford to buy a house now.
- 28:30Speaker 4: It's great.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Trump had a mandate when he entered office to
- 28:36Speaker 2: change the name of the Gulf of Mexico.
- 28:38Speaker 3: My god, a one point four percent mandate.
- 28:44Speaker 2: So yeah, I found that CDC thing pretty interesting. There's
- 28:48Speaker 2: also the two thousand and six National Research Council study
- 28:53Speaker 2: that gets referenced in that video a whole lot. The
- 28:57Speaker 2: scientists behind it are some of these same scientists apparently
- 29:01Speaker 2: who studied the effects of lead in children. And that's
- 29:06Speaker 2: why we don't put lead paint in houses anymore, I have.
- 29:10Speaker 3: I thought that study was about Mexican candy. That stuff
- 29:15Speaker 3: is good, though, You're like, you're eating it, and you're like, lead,
- 29:20Speaker 3: I can have a little lead. Am I going to
- 29:22Speaker 3: die from a couple of micrograms of lead?
- 29:25Speaker 2: Lunchables too? It came out that those in lunchibles possibly
- 29:29Speaker 2: have a shit ton of lead, and boy was out,
- 29:31Speaker 2: Oh my god, for me, I love me a disc
- 29:34Speaker 2: of processed turkey.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I was about to say, what's more American than that?
- 29:40Speaker 3: That's more American than the Gulf of America. That's a
- 29:44Speaker 3: highly productized process. Food for children, that's what we're all about.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a huge bummer. And I tried some
- 29:51Speaker 2: of you know, the adult lunchables, like the really fancy ones.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Not the same. Yeah, I think it's.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Probably the give it a little bit of seasoning.
- 30:02Speaker 2: So this two thousand and six report from the National
- 30:06Speaker 2: Research Council, Fluoride in Drinking Water is what it's called,
- 30:10Speaker 2: appropriately enough, This is kind of a basis or one
- 30:15Speaker 2: of the foundational documents for people who have arguments against
- 30:21Speaker 2: fluoride and water, but not conspiracy theory arguments, just a
- 30:26Speaker 2: suggestion that, hey, maybe science has changed on fluoride and
- 30:30Speaker 2: drinking water and we should look into it. In this report,
- 30:34Speaker 2: it doesn't directly say fluoride levels in drinking water cause
- 30:39Speaker 2: developmental problems in the womb, but it also doesn't not
- 30:43Speaker 2: say it it more than anything, says yeah, it's possible,
- 30:47Speaker 2: and we should look into it more. Which I don't
- 30:51Speaker 2: know why anyone would object to looking into it more
- 30:55Speaker 2: if there is science out there that says, yeah, it
- 30:58Speaker 2: could be bad. And this isn't the only report that
- 31:02Speaker 2: has suggested this.
- 31:03Speaker 3: I like to imagine there's still one guy out there
- 31:04Speaker 3: who's like lead is a safe and effective way to
- 31:08Speaker 3: make food heavier and more filling.
- 31:11Speaker 2: There's got to be there's got to be like advocates
- 31:14Speaker 2: for lead.
- 31:15Speaker 5: I think I'm more concerned about microplastic spain in the
- 31:18Speaker 5: water than florid.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that's probably a bigger threat, for sure.
- 31:24Speaker 2: I feel like I have room to care about both.
- 31:26Speaker 2: It doesn't cost an extra to care about both.
- 31:30Speaker 3: That can hold space for fluoride.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not doing shit about either one, so it's
- 31:34Speaker 2: not extra work.
- 31:36Speaker 3: I'm moving my kids in the fluoride state. Their third
- 31:39Speaker 3: eyes are going to be unmolested.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Yeah. And so at the end of this report that
- 31:45Speaker 2: came out in two thousand and six, they do recommend
- 31:48Speaker 2: that the EPA lower the acceptable level of fluoride in
- 31:52Speaker 2: drinking water, and the EPA declined to do that. There
- 31:56Speaker 2: have been other government entities that have actually lowered their
- 32:01Speaker 2: suggested levels of fluoride and drinking water based on these
- 32:05Speaker 2: various reports.
- 32:06Speaker 3: So just like of their own volition, Yeah, that's nice.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Somebody cares.
- 32:12Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean it's it's possible, and I don't
- 32:15Speaker 2: think there's been like a noticeable impact on people not
- 32:19Speaker 2: having fluoride in their drinking water.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not like there's like everyone in West Covina's
- 32:24Speaker 3: teeth they're falling the fuck out of their heads.
- 32:27Speaker 4: But they're also not smarter.
- 32:29Speaker 2: So there was actually an issue with fluoride that caused
- 32:36Speaker 2: the levels to be reduced in that. One of the
- 32:38Speaker 2: things that can actually cause which this is ironic, is
- 32:41Speaker 2: like pitting and yellowing of the teeth and the enamel
- 32:45Speaker 2: in the teeth.
- 32:46Speaker 4: I do know of that.
- 32:47Speaker 5: There was a girl that I was like good friends
- 32:49Speaker 5: with in fifth grade that she had like yellow lines
- 32:53Speaker 5: deep into her teeth from the dentist putting too much
- 32:56Speaker 5: fluoride on it. Oh, that's the dentist's fault, not the Wow.
- 33:01Speaker 3: What a shitty thing to have in fifth grade. Yeah,
- 33:04Speaker 3: when everyone is so understanding.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Nice floride doesn't kill people, denis kill people exactly. I
- 33:11Speaker 2: would actually buy that, given you.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Know, I think this is the lazy ass dentists just
- 33:16Speaker 3: trying to get trying to fucking have the National water
- 33:19Speaker 3: Supply pick up the slack for their laziness. They just
- 33:22Speaker 3: don't want to send those postcards in the mail every
- 33:25Speaker 3: year on your birthday, they'll remind you to come in.
- 33:28Speaker 2: It does also kind of absolve the government of responsibility
- 33:32Speaker 2: when it comes to poor kids and poor people in
- 33:36Speaker 2: their access to dental healthcare.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Yeah, you can be like, hey, we put the floride, come.
- 33:43Speaker 2: On floride in the water. They're fucking fine.
- 33:46Speaker 3: What more do you wind?
- 33:47Speaker 2: I assume I've been drinking fluoride in my water, and
- 33:51Speaker 2: I've had plenty of cavities over the years.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Now each your honey bunches of lead.
- 34:00Speaker 2: The thing that has the anti fluoride crowd most up
- 34:04Speaker 2: in arms now is in August twenty twenty four report
- 34:09Speaker 2: from the US National Toxicology Program. This is an actual
- 34:13Speaker 2: federal agency operating not during the Trump administration, and their
- 34:18Speaker 2: report found quote with moderate confidence end quote, that there
- 34:23Speaker 2: is a link between higher levels of fluoride exposure and
- 34:27Speaker 2: lower IQ in kids. The Associated Press talk to a
- 34:31Speaker 2: researcher who focuses on fluoride in water named Ashley Mallin
- 34:36Speaker 2: at the University of Florida. She said, this report is
- 34:38Speaker 2: quote the most rigorously conducted report of its kind end quote.
- 34:43Speaker 5: I would like to argue though that maybe kids who
- 34:48Speaker 5: aren't don't have so much fluoride it's because they're more
- 34:51Speaker 5: in like affluent areas where they have water filters and
- 34:55Speaker 5: Brita filters that help, you know, reverse osmosis in that.
- 34:59Speaker 5: So maybe that's why they're not exposed to so much fluoride.
- 35:02Speaker 5: And because they're in more higher affluent neighborhoods, they have
- 35:08Speaker 5: better education systems in play.
- 35:11Speaker 3: You know, at least I've never seen a brit of
- 35:13Speaker 3: filter in a bad neighborhood. You're right, that's never been
- 35:17Speaker 3: a priority, right exactly.
- 35:19Speaker 2: I guess my pushback to that would be, how do
- 35:21Speaker 2: you know they didn't take that into account?
- 35:23Speaker 4: Well, how do you know that they did.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Well, I'm just saying, like, these are fucking scientists, Like
- 35:29Speaker 2: they're not podcasters, Like.
- 35:31Speaker 5: Yeah, well who are they working for? We just talked
- 35:34Speaker 5: that scientists can be easily influenced.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Yeah, they sure can be, but sometimes they're not. Also, Like,
- 35:41Speaker 2: I mean, it's not bullshit. Modern scientists can be influenced.
- 35:46Speaker 2: My favorite example of it that I cite all the
- 35:48Speaker 2: fucking time, there is a report that claims vaping nicotine
- 35:54Speaker 2: juice like vape liquid and cigarettes have the same chemicals
- 35:59Speaker 2: in them, and they sure do. But when they say that,
- 36:02Speaker 2: what they mean is cigarettes and vapes have the same
- 36:05Speaker 2: chemicals that force Disneyland to put up a sign that says, hey,
- 36:10Speaker 2: there's like shit in the air that could give you cancer.
- 36:13Speaker 2: They're chemicals that are in everything, so of course they're
- 36:17Speaker 2: in cigarettes and vape liquid both. What's not in vape
- 36:22Speaker 2: liquid is fucking strick nine and all that crazy shit
- 36:26Speaker 2: that they are in cigarettes to make them as dangerous
- 36:32Speaker 2: as they are.
- 36:32Speaker 3: Well, whether or not they're right, I am stealing the
- 36:34Speaker 3: phrase with moderate confidence. With moderate confidence, I'd like to
- 36:39Speaker 3: ask you out to dinner sometime.
- 36:41Speaker 2: But with this vaping report, when kids were getting popcorn
- 36:45Speaker 2: lung from not even jewel pods, it was from like
- 36:49Speaker 2: bootleg thhc Odds. The New York Times cited that report
- 36:54Speaker 2: and said, this study showed that cigarettes and vapes have
- 36:57Speaker 2: the same chemicals in them, but they didn't link to it,
- 37:00Speaker 2: and I thought that was weird. So I went out
- 37:03Speaker 2: and found it. And all you have to do is
- 37:06Speaker 2: read it to see that they're not talking about what
- 37:08Speaker 2: you think of when people say chemicals in cigarettes. And
- 37:13Speaker 2: at the bottom there was a financial disclosures section two
- 37:17Speaker 2: of the doctors who worked on it were also trying
- 37:20Speaker 2: to secure a patent for a smoking cessation device, so
- 37:25Speaker 2: they had all the motive in the world to claim
- 37:28Speaker 2: vapes have the same chemicals as cigarettes because they want
- 37:32Speaker 2: you to quit smoking their way.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Isn't smoking and vaping bad enough? What do you have
- 37:37Speaker 3: to make vaping words like it already? It's obviously stinks
- 37:41Speaker 3: this study.
- 37:42Speaker 2: There were studies conducted in Canada, China, India, Iran, Pakistan,
- 37:47Speaker 2: and Mexico that all concluded that drinking water containing more
- 37:51Speaker 2: than one point five milligrams of fluoride per leter is
- 37:55Speaker 2: consistently associated with lower IQs in kids. I mean, it
- 37:59Speaker 2: seems like it's at least worth looking into.
- 38:02Speaker 3: The phrase with moderate confidence makes me take them more seriously,
- 38:06Speaker 3: like they're not like they're like that sounds like someone
- 38:08Speaker 3: who's actually trying to give you a measured opinion, you know.
- 38:11Speaker 2: And I also feel like a lot of the pushback
- 38:14Speaker 2: to this just boils down to, well, it's Republicans saying it.
- 38:17Speaker 2: I don't want to agree with what Republicans are saying,
- 38:21Speaker 2: and like that's not science.
- 38:23Speaker 3: That's not Yeah, that's the opposite of science.
- 38:25Speaker 2: That's like fundamentalism.
- 38:27Speaker 3: That's the idea, that's like ideological racism. Like my idea
- 38:31Speaker 3: is was born better than your idea?
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit, And like I don't I don't know.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't
- 38:39Speaker 2: fucking care, So I don't know.
- 38:41Speaker 4: It just doesn't care about the children.
- 38:44Speaker 2: I don't care about fluoride and water like not remotely.
- 38:50Speaker 5: Yeah, but before wasn't the lower IQ. It's only like
- 38:54Speaker 5: a point or two.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but still if that's your argument for keeping it,
- 39:00Speaker 2: that's a terrible argument.
- 39:02Speaker 5: Well, maybe the kid was just having a bad day
- 39:04Speaker 5: and then you should test them again.
- 39:06Speaker 2: It seems like there've been a lot of tests. That's
- 39:08Speaker 2: what this report is saying, is that there's been tests
- 39:12Speaker 2: conducted all around the world.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Yeah, but you're also doing it like India and Pakistan.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Oh, India one of the only other countries with a
- 39:21Speaker 2: fucking space program. Yeah, those dollars world's biggest democracy. What
- 39:26Speaker 2: a fucking bunch of idiots they are. No, I don't
- 39:29Speaker 2: trust science from science from India.
- 39:33Speaker 5: No, I'm just saying they have a wider pool of
- 39:36Speaker 5: like things that I don't know, things that can go wrong.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Do you work for the fluoride industry. I do.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Actually, that's why I have great toe. That's all the
- 39:47Speaker 5: fluoride money. I actually have a reverse osmosis water filter,
- 39:51Speaker 5: so I don't even drink that shit.
- 39:53Speaker 3: We need a smiling woman to sell this to the
- 39:55Speaker 3: podcast crowd.
- 39:58Speaker 2: It's actually in bottled water too. I didn't realize that
- 40:01Speaker 2: a lot of bottled water.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that was how I was protecting my pineal gland.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Shit.
- 40:06Speaker 5: And I remember growing up there was water that would
- 40:09Speaker 5: I would like advertise I had fluoride in it.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I also don't know that water filters remove it, even.
- 40:16Speaker 5: That reverse osmosis one, because those get rid of the microplastics.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Well, I guess I'm going to be out my front
- 40:23Speaker 3: lawn boiling water outside my apartment like a fucking pioneer.
- 40:28Speaker 3: What are you doing, con Man? No, just trying to
- 40:30Speaker 3: be a free thinker. Yeah, I don't know.
- 40:33Speaker 2: I found researching this actually pretty interesting because all I'd
- 40:37Speaker 2: ever heard is like communist plot and shit. But I
- 40:40Speaker 2: don't know. If there's a possibility that it's not good,
- 40:45Speaker 2: then I don't see the point in advocating for it
- 40:48Speaker 2: or sticking with it. Science changes.
- 40:51Speaker 3: I was about to say what did we come up
- 40:53Speaker 3: within the forties that were still doing besides nuclear bombs?
- 40:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and even that we only just did two. Yeah, shit,
- 41:02Speaker 2: that was intense.
- 41:03Speaker 3: For now, Yeah, for now.
- 41:06Speaker 2: And yeah, Connor, you added the pineal gland at the end.
- 41:11Speaker 3: This is Connor's little uh dreadlock petually Joe Rogan five
- 41:16Speaker 3: years ago alternative archaeology theory. And I only bring it
- 41:19Speaker 3: up because it is weird, like you, like you look
- 41:21Speaker 3: at this shit. It is weird, Like you know that
- 41:23Speaker 3: Egyptian eye that you've seen a million times, the cool
- 41:25Speaker 3: looking eye with the eyebrow and the little curly cue
- 41:27Speaker 3: that comes out of the bottom. There is a gland
- 41:29Speaker 3: in the human brain called the pineal gland that looks
- 41:32Speaker 3: exactly like this. Ie are very very very similar to
- 41:36Speaker 3: this eye. And weirdly enough, it is a sort of
- 41:40Speaker 3: like a linzed trap for fluoride. It absorbs fluoride. It's
- 41:46Speaker 3: star under the calcium in the gland. And the spiritual
- 41:50Speaker 3: New Age conspiracy people will tell you that the fluoride
- 41:53Speaker 3: in the water is there to calcify your pineal gland,
- 41:56Speaker 3: harden it so that you can't use your spiritual sight,
- 42:00Speaker 3: you can't use your third eye inside your brain. So
- 42:04Speaker 3: if you want to really stay woke, you only drink
- 42:06Speaker 3: pussy juice like me. That's that's the only liquid that's
- 42:12Speaker 3: pure and clean.
- 42:13Speaker 2: So that must be why the pineal gland is at
- 42:16Speaker 2: the center of so many conspiracies, because it does it
- 42:19Speaker 2: is shaped like exactly like that.
- 42:21Speaker 3: I yeah, I think that. I think that's got a
- 42:24Speaker 3: lot to do with it.
- 42:25Speaker 2: And that's why democrats like pickle them and eat them
- 42:28Speaker 2: out of children's brains.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Well, that's where the adrenochrome is stored at them to
- 42:32Speaker 3: bring it full circle.
- 42:33Speaker 2: And if I'm not mistaken, they do that to stay young,
- 42:36Speaker 2: like Nancy Pelosi and Dianne Feinstein and shit.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Who are looking great. Yeah, ladies, Sleigh, welcome to the Resistance.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Yeah. So I don't know. I don't know. I guess.
- 42:49Speaker 2: I guess I'm more on the fence about this than
- 42:52Speaker 2: I used to be. But I've also never had strong
- 42:56Speaker 2: feelings either way about fluoride.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Longtime listeners of the show will know that I believe
- 43:02Speaker 3: whatever is the most fun and amusing to me, and
- 43:05Speaker 3: I like to believe they're trying to take my ancient
- 43:06Speaker 3: Egyptian superpowers away. So that's where I'm at I mean
- 43:10Speaker 3: a last, of course, a shill for big fluoride.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I am.
- 43:15Speaker 4: I still think it's fine.
- 43:16Speaker 5: I think it's just a lot of hoopla, and there's
- 43:18Speaker 5: better things to be researching, like cancer.
- 43:23Speaker 3: All right, Okay, that's a pretty good one. Yeah, I
- 43:26Speaker 3: think you forgot about cancer.
- 43:29Speaker 2: It would be crazy if just no one's looking into
- 43:31Speaker 2: cancer right now.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Well, didn't they defend the cancer research?
- 43:36Speaker 3: No, I think all the scientists are trying to come
- 43:38Speaker 3: up with a new sort of energy drink that makes
- 43:40Speaker 3: you horny.
- 43:41Speaker 4: No, but for real, they pulled funding for cancer research,
- 43:45Speaker 4: like this week or last week.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Oh, that doesn't sound like the Trump administration.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Donald J. Trump.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe cancer's not real. Did you ever think about that?
- 43:58Speaker 4: That's a liberal.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Yeah, his name's Barren, not Karen. You know he doesn't care.
- 44:07Speaker 2: So yeah, the floride in the drinking water, I don't know.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Keep it ready, you know, a couple of IQ points.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, if it's just a couple of IQ points.
- 44:19Speaker 5: I'd rather have a few IQ points knocked off than
- 44:23Speaker 5: have bad fucking teeth, I'll tell you that.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Yeah, bad teeth is pretty rough.
- 44:30Speaker 2: And drinking water alone will keep you from having bad teeth.
- 44:33Speaker 2: We all know that.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Homeless people have great teeth.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think that's our episode. Do we have
- 44:43Speaker 2: any final thoughts on fluoride in drinking water or r
- 44:47Speaker 2: FK Junior's terrible goddamn voice.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Boil your water, pray to the sun God raw, make
- 44:53Speaker 3: your sacrifices the Horus, and give thanks because a new
- 44:57Speaker 3: day is coming in America.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Does anyone e drank boiled water?
- 45:01Speaker 3: Uh?
- 45:02Speaker 2: No, it is wretched. It tastes so bad.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Oh that's weird.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:07Speaker 3: I don't are supposed to taste super clean and pure,
- 45:09Speaker 3: you would think, but it doesn't. Does it taste like
- 45:12Speaker 3: a campfire?
- 45:13Speaker 2: No, it just I don't know. It just tastes gross.
- 45:15Speaker 2: It's got a weird aftertaste.
- 45:18Speaker 4: You're drinking it while it's boiling.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that might have been not what.
- 45:24Speaker 3: You're supposed to do to toughen himself up. Like taxi driver,
- 45:27Speaker 3: I drink boiling water.
- 45:28Speaker 5: I think that we should be more concerned about microplastics
- 45:32Speaker 5: being in the water than fluoride at this point.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I also kind of feel like we should just
- 45:38Speaker 2: be concerned about anything that's in our water. I don't
- 45:43Speaker 2: get why it has to be a one or the
- 45:46Speaker 2: other thing? Why not worry about fluoride in our water?
- 45:51Speaker 2: And it seems like there is science that suggests it's
- 45:54Speaker 2: not providing the same benefit science thought it was going
- 45:58Speaker 2: to when they started put it in drinking water.
- 46:02Speaker 3: And mustn't it be cheaper to take it out? Like
- 46:04Speaker 3: it must cost something to put it in, you know,
- 46:07Speaker 3: like does no one want to save money?
- 46:09Speaker 5: It seems like from that forties thing that it's cheaper
- 46:12Speaker 5: to leave it in than filter it out.
- 46:14Speaker 2: What do you mean the corporate polluter theory?
- 46:17Speaker 5: There was fluoride in the water, so instead of just
- 46:20Speaker 5: getting rid of it, they enlistened the help of scientists
- 46:23Speaker 5: to say that no, it's fine.
- 46:25Speaker 4: So let's just leave it in there.
- 46:26Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, So that wouldn't it cost money to filter
- 46:29Speaker 5: it out than just leave it in there?
- 46:31Speaker 4: Where was the fluoride coming from?
- 46:33Speaker 3: Is it just a runoff?
- 46:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a runoff chemical that enters water that way also,
- 46:39Speaker 2: which could also be justification for not adding more of
- 46:43Speaker 2: it to the water, I would think, because it does
- 46:47Speaker 2: cause problems in higher doses, like they had to cut
- 46:50Speaker 2: the amount because of cosmetic problems that it was causing.
- 46:56Speaker 2: So it's not like there's nothing to the idea that
- 46:59Speaker 2: fluoride might be harmful.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Or that they can't manipulate it.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Yeah, it sounds like they just have an acceptable amount
- 47:05Speaker 5: in it and they're like it's fine.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Was altered anymore?
- 47:10Speaker 3: If this was pissed, would we even be talking about it.
- 47:13Speaker 2: That's not really what that theory is or what the
- 47:16Speaker 2: thinking behind it was. It wasn't the government going, oh,
- 47:19Speaker 2: it's fine to have that much fluoride in the water.
- 47:22Speaker 2: It was them knowing they were going to get sued
- 47:25Speaker 2: or letting all of this fluoride get into the water,
- 47:29Speaker 2: so they manipulated scientists to say fluoride was safe in
- 47:33Speaker 2: water so then they could explain why it was there.
- 47:36Speaker 2: There was no point where the government was like, yeah,
- 47:38Speaker 2: it's fine, like fluoride's fine, we should just keep it there.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Like if that theory is correct, that's not what the
- 47:44Speaker 2: government was getting at. They weren't getting at They just
- 47:47Speaker 2: didn't want to get sued or it being there, which
- 47:51Speaker 2: I don't know. That doesn't sound like the American government
- 47:53Speaker 2: at all. So, Yeah, drink more water, everybody, no matter what,
- 48:01Speaker 2: even if there's fluoride in it. It's so good for you.
- 48:04Speaker 3: It's good to be hydrated. It's good for your skin. Yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 3: it's good for everything.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Get compliments on my skin all the time. And that's
- 48:10Speaker 2: not a joke.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Adam is dewey. He's got a dewey complexion. It's it's
- 48:15Speaker 3: it's enviable.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I drink an obscene amount of water.
- 48:19Speaker 3: That's why he's currently holding up a sort of a
- 48:22Speaker 3: medieval flagon.
- 48:23Speaker 2: This is a forty ounce Swell water bottle. I cannot
- 48:27Speaker 2: recommend swell enough. It will keep your water fucking cold
- 48:30Speaker 2: for like twenty four hours, and it doesn't need that you.
- 48:33Speaker 4: Know better than a Stanley mug.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Uh Yeah. And also you're not gonna get like trampled
- 48:40Speaker 2: by a group of tweens if you show up at
- 48:42Speaker 2: the store on the wrong Stanley mug. Drop day. I
- 48:46Speaker 2: told Connor, I've been fucking fiending to get my hands
- 48:50Speaker 2: on an Olivia Rodrigo Stanley mug. That's right, because those
- 48:57Speaker 2: if you can get one before they sell out, you
- 48:59Speaker 2: can flip that bitch on eBay for like five times
- 49:02Speaker 2: what you've paid for.
- 49:03Speaker 3: So this is not like your affinity for Mariah Carrey albums.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Like Adam just like everyone's realizing as a be in
- 49:09Speaker 3: his body about some diva artifact that he must have,
- 49:13Speaker 3: like it's a wax bust of Aretha Franklin.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I do. I fuck with the music
- 49:19Speaker 2: of Olivia Rodrigo. But no, I'm not trying to walk
- 49:23Speaker 2: around with a lavender Stanley mug.
- 49:25Speaker 3: I was just this is a capitalist pursuit.
- 49:29Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely so. Hey, that's our episode, Alise Connor, thank
- 49:34Speaker 2: you both for doing the pod. What do we have
- 49:37Speaker 2: to plug before we get out of here?
- 49:40Speaker 3: Uh?
- 49:41Speaker 2: Patreon dot com, slash on pops. Uh, you don't pod
- 49:44Speaker 2: dot supercast dot com. Go there and get bonus episodes
- 49:47Speaker 2: and ship. Elise, what do you got to plug?
- 49:49Speaker 4: You should all buy Ripple. It's a cryptocurrency. Buy it.
- 49:53Speaker 4: Pump that ship so I can sell it.
- 49:57Speaker 3: I think you're misgendering it. I think it's called x RP.
- 50:00Speaker 4: No, it's called Ripple too.
- 50:02Speaker 5: Just a yeah, I'm sorry, Connor, do you I just.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Haven't man blamed anything to anyone in a while.
- 50:09Speaker 4: Oh my god, Yeah, I hate you all.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Right, Connor. Aside from man explaining, what do you want
- 50:17Speaker 2: to plug?
- 50:17Speaker 3: Buy my water filtration system, drink like a pharaoh, free
- 50:21Speaker 3: yourself from mental prison, emancipate yourself from mental slavery. Knowing
- 50:26Speaker 3: but yourself can free your mind. That was King Tutt
- 50:28Speaker 3: who said that. Listen to The Mean Boys podcast hilarious
- 50:33Speaker 3: cavalcade of comedy.
- 50:34Speaker 2: All right, let's get the fuck out of here. Alis
- 50:37Speaker 2: say goodbye bye, Honor, say goodbye, goodbye bye everybody. We
- 50:42Speaker 2: love you.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Thea innam
