- 0:30Speaker 2: hosted by Todd Yurii, founder and CEO of the Pharmacy
- 0:34Speaker 2: Podcast Network. Embedded in the Outcomes Booth, this is your
- 0:38Speaker 2: direct line into one of the biggest pharmacy events of
- 0:41Speaker 2: the year. You'll hear interviews from real pharmacy owners, keynote speakers,
- 0:46Speaker 2: first time podcasters, and more, only on the Pharmacy Podcast Network,
- 0:51Speaker 2: made possible by the support of our sponsor, Outcomes.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Scott, It's so good to have you here at the
- 1:01Speaker 3: Outcomes Booth, Here at the thought Spot twenty twenty six.
- 1:05Speaker 3: The partnerships that Outcomes have stage cultivated and are moving
- 1:11Speaker 3: forward with our so key to the success of independent
- 1:14Speaker 3: community pharmacy. One company can never deliver the entire ecosystem
- 1:19Speaker 3: of solutions of what's happening in a shifting business that's
- 1:23Speaker 3: changing and it's going through massive changes. Talk to us
- 1:26Speaker 3: about the partnership between rx CO, RXCO and Outcomes.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and thank you thanks for having us on the
- 1:34Speaker 4: Pharmacy Podcast it's you're right, it's getting more and more complex.
- 1:40Speaker 4: This isn't the pharmacy world we had ten years ago,
- 1:43Speaker 4: where pharmacies generally had much more financial profitability. There's a
- 1:48Speaker 4: lot of things going on behind the scenes. The primary
- 1:52Speaker 4: purpose for our integration and supporting OURX thirty computer X
- 1:55Speaker 4: clients is to help protect them against some of the
- 1:58Speaker 4: shenanigans that are going on behind the scenes. Primarily, and
- 2:01Speaker 4: many pharmacies aren't aware of this. Forty one percent of
- 2:04Speaker 4: commercial claims right now are being switched behind the scenes
- 2:07Speaker 4: to a pharmacy discount card. It damages pharmacy economics in
- 2:13Speaker 4: two ways. One, these cards will often come back at
- 2:17Speaker 4: prices that most pharmacies wouldn't normally honor below their cost,
- 2:24Speaker 4: unsupportive of even covering their overhead. And the second, which
- 2:29Speaker 4: is it's just on top of it, is they tack
- 2:31Speaker 4: on a very large administrative fee. And these administrative fees
- 2:35Speaker 4: over the last three years have climbed substantially. Whereas pharmacy
- 2:38Speaker 4: discount card administrative fees ten fifteen years ago, where a
- 2:42Speaker 4: dollar maybe two dollars, they're nine to twelve to fifteen
- 2:45Speaker 4: to twenty dollars. Now we've seen cases on common drugs
- 2:49Speaker 4: like a tor of statin, where they out of pocket
- 2:52Speaker 4: for the patient's forty five dollars the administrative fees forty
- 2:55Speaker 4: two dollars.
- 2:57Speaker 5: It just makes it. It's unsustainable.
- 2:59Speaker 4: It's it's a fee that your patients are paying the
- 3:03Speaker 4: pharmacy is not keeping it. It goes back to the
- 3:05Speaker 4: PBM and integrating into the rx CO software is something
- 3:10Speaker 4: that Outcomes decided to do help give their pharmacies a
- 3:15Speaker 4: tool set to compliantly manage these issues. Compliance is a
- 3:20Speaker 4: big aspect of it. There's ways you can respond to
- 3:24Speaker 4: these cards that are completely not compliant. It will get
- 3:27Speaker 4: you in trouble with regulators, federal government, and so forth.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Many pharmacies are simply rejecting the claim and writing it
- 3:35Speaker 4: to cash, which is going to put you in a
- 3:37Speaker 4: lot of trouble when it comes to audit time. You're
- 3:42Speaker 4: getting yourself ready for a nasty and awful clawback.
- 3:46Speaker 5: And so we have this tool set. It's made available,
- 3:49Speaker 5: it will be available this.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Fall, built into every RX thirty, including a new RX
- 3:54Speaker 4: thirty and compute our X platform.
- 3:58Speaker 5: It will help.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Pharmacy owners and picks be able to manage this, not
- 4:05Speaker 4: just in a compliant manner for themselves, but to enforce
- 4:07Speaker 4: policy at the pharmacy level to ensure their frontline texts
- 4:11Speaker 4: are doing the right thing.
- 4:13Speaker 3: So I am assuming that this would be integrated into
- 4:16Speaker 3: the outcomes platform, the computer RX platform, so that it
- 4:21Speaker 3: seems seamless to our pharmacy owners.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Right.
- 4:23Speaker 4: The whole goal with outcomes from the beginning and working
- 4:26Speaker 4: with us is to ensure we're not adding to the workflow.
- 4:29Speaker 5: In fact, we're simplifying it.
- 4:31Speaker 4: There's a few different use cases where pharmacies will use
- 4:34Speaker 4: a pharmacy discount card. Maybe a patient comes in or
- 4:37Speaker 4: their insurance didn't come back with a price that will
- 4:41Speaker 4: allow the patient to adhere to their medication receive it.
- 4:45Speaker 5: This gives a quick.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Lookup tool as well, so the pharmacy can see all
- 4:49Speaker 4: of their network prices. There is nothing hidden there. For
- 4:52Speaker 4: the first time ever, a pharmacy will be able to
- 4:55Speaker 4: log in and see their exact network prices for their
- 4:58Speaker 4: NDCs they keep in stock. We'll be able to help
- 5:01Speaker 4: the patient navigate in a consumer driven way how to
- 5:05Speaker 4: solve the financial issue with receiving their medication.
- 5:10Speaker 3: All right, So, if I'm listening to the show and
- 5:14Speaker 3: this has really intrigued me. What's the best way to
- 5:17Speaker 3: reach out to you in your organization?
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yeah, so, our website is rx dot co.
- 5:23Speaker 3: We also it's an easy website to remember. What a
- 5:26Speaker 3: nice domain. By the way, right it was four letters.
- 5:29Speaker 7: It was fantastic.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Your outcomes salespeople and customer support managers are also aware
- 5:35Speaker 4: of who we are. They can help get you set
- 5:37Speaker 4: up in the system. It will be in pilot stores shortly,
- 5:42Speaker 4: with a full rollout anticipated at the end of September.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Okay, all right, well we're going to look for more.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Probably have you on twers this week in pharmacy. We'll
- 5:51Speaker 3: talk more about it. But thanks for being here at
- 5:53Speaker 3: thought Spot twenty twenty six.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Perfect, Thank you talking.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Thoughts I bought twenty twenty six. Hey here with Kaylie
- 6:03Speaker 3: Lester from Outcomes Customer Support. What's the titles that you
- 6:07Speaker 3: guys use.
- 6:08Speaker 8: Is CSM, which means Client Success Manager.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Client Success Manager. Do you know what you really are though?
- 6:14Speaker 3: You're kind of like if I joined a gym and
- 6:18Speaker 3: I'm trying to figure out things by myself and I
- 6:21Speaker 3: don't know how. Maybe I want to increase my strength.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I'm getting older, so strength is important, and then that
- 6:27Speaker 3: condensing of my bones. I go to somebody that's lived it,
- 6:31Speaker 3: the trains in weightlifting, and I would go to them
- 6:34Speaker 3: and say, would you please, you know, challenge me and
- 6:37Speaker 3: get more out of this exercise. You're that person that's
- 6:41Speaker 3: going to help the pharmacy owner and the pharmacy operators,
- 6:45Speaker 3: the technicians, the pharmacists get more out of the platform.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Talk to us about your.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Passion around helping pharmacies be more successful.
- 6:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I love that you use that analogy because I
- 6:55Speaker 8: used to be a personal trainer. So that's exactly what
- 6:57Speaker 8: it is. It's like coaching and mentorship, right. So the
- 7:00Speaker 8: Client Success Team was really developed because there's a need
- 7:03Speaker 8: for that dedicated advocate that's really focused on the pharmacy's goals. So,
- 7:07Speaker 8: you know, having that dedicated person that's committed and focused
- 7:11Speaker 8: on the success of the pharmacy that can guide them
- 7:13Speaker 8: in the right direction. That just goes beyond like support
- 7:16Speaker 8: and technical issues. We really take a strategic approach where
- 7:19Speaker 8: every single one of our pharmacy partners is assigned a
- 7:22Speaker 8: dedicated CSM that goes beyond, above and beyond to help
- 7:26Speaker 8: escalate support issues and get answers. If you know, there's
- 7:29Speaker 8: a lag in response, but also like, how do we
- 7:32Speaker 8: help you maximize your operations? What solutions are you using
- 7:35Speaker 8: today that maybe you're not taking the most maximum benefit from,
- 7:38Speaker 8: Like helping educate pharmacies about what we have going on,
- 7:42Speaker 8: what's new, what's coming out, and really just being like
- 7:44Speaker 8: they're dedicated, Like I always say, we're like a marriage counselor,
- 7:50Speaker 8: Like we're here to really support the pharmacies and what
- 7:53Speaker 8: they need, especially the independent pharmacies, because what they have
- 7:57Speaker 8: is they built something from the ground up.
- 7:59Speaker 9: They did all the school.
- 8:00Speaker 8: Maybe it was passed down in the family, but it's passion, right, Yeah,
- 8:04Speaker 8: it's so emotional as well, and so we really relate
- 8:07Speaker 8: to that and we empathize with people wanting to get
- 8:10Speaker 8: the most success out of their solutions and really help
- 8:12Speaker 8: maximize their operation.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Kaylee, I want to talk about blind spots, and that's
- 8:16Speaker 3: another thing that the CSMs are going to be able
- 8:19Speaker 3: to kind of dial into. So you've counseled, you've talked,
- 8:23Speaker 3: you've coached, and six months down the road, you're noticing
- 8:27Speaker 3: that there's there's a reoccurring problem. You're seeing it from
- 8:30Speaker 3: a different perspective. Talk to us about how you reach
- 8:33Speaker 3: back out to one of your clients and saying, hey,
- 8:36Speaker 3: let's make this adjustment or maybe use this feature differently
- 8:39Speaker 3: in order to maximize the technology.
- 8:42Speaker 8: Yeah, I think the biggest thing that we started doing
- 8:44Speaker 8: was trying to outreach the clients and let them know
- 8:47Speaker 8: not only that we exist, but we want to have
- 8:50Speaker 8: recurring meetings with them, because the whole purpose of getting
- 8:53Speaker 8: to know them is understanding their business at every stage.
- 8:56Speaker 8: Because if we talked to them in Q one but
- 8:57Speaker 8: haven't talked to them again until Q two, you're a
- 9:00Speaker 8: huge three. So much changes. So we just want to
- 9:03Speaker 8: make sure that we're constantly pushing what's new, what's coming,
- 9:07Speaker 8: making sure we're aligned to where they're at in their
- 9:09Speaker 8: business today so that you know, we're not going like
- 9:12Speaker 8: this and they're falling behind.
- 9:13Speaker 7: It's exactly.
- 9:14Speaker 8: So that's that's the proactive outreach part that we really
- 9:17Speaker 8: try to hone in on is okay, getting the lay
- 9:21Speaker 8: of the land about how their pharmacy operates today, where
- 9:23Speaker 8: they're going, and how we can help support them and
- 9:25Speaker 8: getting there. So if that answers your question, it's just
- 9:28Speaker 8: really trying to be proactive and be strategic about our
- 9:32Speaker 8: outreach to clients, calling them, emailing them letting them know
- 9:36Speaker 8: you know that we have ade or any new product
- 9:38Speaker 8: that could help enhance their workflow. That's what we truly
- 9:41Speaker 8: try to reach them out to and like focus on.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Well for your first podcast, Kaylee, you did an amazing job,
- 9:47Speaker 3: so thank you for spending time here at the Outcomes
- 9:49Speaker 3: Booth the Thoughts Spot twenty twenty six.
- 9:51Speaker 8: Thanks for having me pleasure.
- 9:54Speaker 10: Pharmacy teams today are expected to do more than ever
- 9:58Speaker 10: process prescriptions faster, manage growing workloads, navigate constant interruptions, and
- 10:04Speaker 10: still deliver exceptional patient care. That's why Outcomes is introducing
- 10:10Speaker 10: a new pharmacy experience across both RX thirty and Computer RX,
- 10:14Speaker 10: designed to help pharmacies work smarter, move faster, and operate
- 10:19Speaker 10: with greater confidence. RX thirty delivers a modern, intuitive workflow
- 10:24Speaker 10: with streamline navigation, guided processes, unified work cues, and automation
- 10:29Speaker 10: that reduces manual effort while preserving the trusted foundation pharmacies
- 10:34Speaker 10: rely on every day. At the same time, Computer RX
- 10:38Speaker 10: continues to evolve with enhancements focused on performance, workflow, efficiency, stability,
- 10:44Speaker 10: and practical automation that remove friction from daily operations. Together,
- 10:49Speaker 10: these investments are centered on a single goal, helping pharmacy
- 10:53Speaker 10: teams spend less time navigating software and more time focusing
- 10:56Speaker 10: on patients. Whether you're an RX thirty or computer RX customer,
- 11:01Speaker 10: you'll benefit from a pharmacy experience designed around real world workflows,
- 11:06Speaker 10: reduced complexity, improved efficiency, and continuous innovation. The future of
- 11:11Speaker 10: pharmacy technology is about changing how you work and making
- 11:15Speaker 10: every step work better along the way.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Nicholas Turros farm d how are you.
- 11:25Speaker 7: I'm doing well?
- 11:26Speaker 5: How are you good?
- 11:27Speaker 3: Hey? Last time we talked, I think it was in
- 11:29Speaker 3: a CDs Total Store expo. We're here at Thought Spot
- 11:32Speaker 3: twenty twenty six. It's so good to see you. It's
- 11:35Speaker 3: so good to connect with a person that loves Pittsburgh
- 11:39Speaker 3: like I do.
- 11:41Speaker 11: Oh, it's great to see again. It's been too long,
- 11:43Speaker 11: my friend. And super excited to be on the show again.
- 11:46Speaker 7: And then more.
- 11:47Speaker 11: Excited to see you and see how you're thriving and
- 11:50Speaker 11: how you're doing, and super excited to talk to the
- 11:53Speaker 11: ATO about any subjects that you want.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Well.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Sin Kora is special. This is our second Thought Spot.
- 12:00Speaker 3: We want to shout out to the PR team that
- 12:01Speaker 3: gave us the podcast press and being able to cover
- 12:05Speaker 3: the events your life has gone through, different things that
- 12:09Speaker 3: you've done in pharmacy. You really have a real wide
- 12:12Speaker 3: understanding of mixtures of specialty and community and long term care.
- 12:17Speaker 3: What I wanted to talk to you about today was
- 12:18Speaker 3: merchant services and some of the changes that are rolling
- 12:21Speaker 3: out from Sincora, and yeah, just give the listeners kind
- 12:25Speaker 3: of an overview of that.
- 12:26Speaker 11: Yeah, So just first to start with, a lot of
- 12:28Speaker 11: people don't know what merchant services is, right, and our
- 12:31Speaker 11: merchant service vendor is so essentially, think about when a
- 12:34Speaker 11: customer comes to the pharmacy and they grab some motcs,
- 12:38Speaker 11: they grab their prescriptions, they go up and they bring
- 12:42Speaker 11: them up and it's one hundred dollars charge, they swipe
- 12:45Speaker 11: their credit card. There are things called interchange feeds, and
- 12:48Speaker 11: usually merchant services are are folks that run that through
- 12:51Speaker 11: your pos and there's a feed that's associated with that.
- 12:56Speaker 11: We've seen in pharmacy as low as to point seven,
- 13:01Speaker 11: and I've seen some as high as eight percent. So
- 13:03Speaker 11: that means every one hundred dollars you're losing eight bucks,
- 13:06Speaker 11: you're losing four fifty whatever that percentage fee through that
- 13:10Speaker 11: merchant service is. And it really drives the cost to
- 13:14Speaker 11: serve up for that patient. So through events like thought Spot,
- 13:21Speaker 11: through events like our Solutions Advisory Board, our National Advisory Board,
- 13:26Speaker 11: our sales team, our solutions team talking to customers, it
- 13:30Speaker 11: was really the voice of the customer that raised the
- 13:33Speaker 11: awareness of this. And it wasn't, you know, a want
- 13:37Speaker 11: from the customer, It was really a need of the
- 13:39Speaker 11: customer because it's margin erosion. If you can adjust that rate,
- 13:44Speaker 11: that goes straight to the pharmacy's bottom line, right and
- 13:48Speaker 11: working with razors and margins and reimbursement pressures and trying
- 13:54Speaker 11: to get paid for different services that our pharmacists provide,
- 14:00Speaker 11: anything that we can do to help that. So we
- 14:04Speaker 11: took that feedback back, looked at it. It was a
- 14:08Speaker 11: market wide problem, it wasn't just a store problem, and
- 14:13Speaker 11: really started to understand that dynamic of what was going
- 14:16Speaker 11: on in the pharmacy industry. Then we looked outside the
- 14:20Speaker 11: pharmacy industry and said, all right, what are rates in
- 14:24Speaker 11: specialty industries? What are rates in the restaurant? What are
- 14:26Speaker 11: people getting for online rates? And that can be different
- 14:29Speaker 11: because you have all different kind of rates whether it's
- 14:32Speaker 11: a high risk transaction or if it's a card not
- 14:36Speaker 11: present transaction, So there's.
- 14:38Speaker 7: All these different facets that go into it.
- 14:42Speaker 11: What we did at Sancora is sourced many, many, many
- 14:45Speaker 11: different partners for merchant services and found a great rate
- 14:50Speaker 11: that I am very confident can beat any other rate
- 14:53Speaker 11: out there that is in a POS system or contract
- 14:56Speaker 11: with a POS system, or a technology stack right now
- 15:00Speaker 11: that can save our pharmacies thousands of dollars depending upon
- 15:05Speaker 11: you know, the credit card volume.
- 15:07Speaker 7: That they're they're doing today.
- 15:09Speaker 11: So very excited to bring forth that offering and with
- 15:13Speaker 11: that a lot of times you'll see the pharmacy POS
- 15:16Speaker 11: system and connected with the pharmacy Management system.
- 15:20Speaker 7: So I call that a technology stack.
- 15:22Speaker 11: Right We have another vendor that we utilize that helps
- 15:28Speaker 11: us with integration so pharmacies won't lose the functionality and
- 15:33Speaker 11: it's a two way connection so it can put that
- 15:35Speaker 11: transaction data back into the PMS so they don't lose functionability.
- 15:39Speaker 11: Because you know, when you're working with something and you
- 15:43Speaker 11: have a good technology stack, you don't want to lose
- 15:46Speaker 11: that activity. You don't want to have to log into
- 15:49Speaker 11: two different systems. You don't have to want to print
- 15:51Speaker 11: a report from one and then match it up to
- 15:53Speaker 11: the other. So it's really important to find another another
- 15:56Speaker 11: vendor that could be able to integrate with pharmacy management
- 16:01Speaker 11: systems and ensure that continuity of care isn't broken and
- 16:06Speaker 11: add more operational inefficiencies or work.
- 16:10Speaker 7: So truly excited to.
- 16:11Speaker 11: Be working with our merchant service vendor poly Pay and
- 16:16Speaker 11: our point of sale vendor RMS.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Excellent, excellent, So congratulations on your transition and your career
- 16:23Speaker 3: in pharmacy. Has been so fun to watch you and
- 16:27Speaker 3: the knowledge that you have. I think that everything that
- 16:30Speaker 3: you've learned in an application from one position to now
- 16:34Speaker 3: is just going to help you bring more solutions out
- 16:37Speaker 3: and we'll bring out some of that secret sauce of
- 16:39Speaker 3: what Sincora is doing. So I love having you on here. Nick,
- 16:42Speaker 3: thanks for being here.
- 16:43Speaker 11: No and I appreciate that Todd, And you know, having
- 16:47Speaker 11: a career in different areas throughout pharmacy or medical device
- 16:51Speaker 11: is one thing, but the truly exciting thing about working
- 16:55Speaker 11: with Sancora is the time that we get with our customers,
- 17:00Speaker 11: whether that's the advisory boards, thought spot, just traveling and
- 17:05Speaker 11: visiting stores and just getting to spend time with our
- 17:08Speaker 11: customers and really understanding by having that time, what their
- 17:13Speaker 11: needs are like, the voice of the customer is so
- 17:16Speaker 11: important to Sincora and it's so refreshing.
- 17:18Speaker 7: You know.
- 17:19Speaker 11: I've I joined last Thought Spot but didn't get to go,
- 17:22Speaker 11: so this is my first thought Spot and it's.
- 17:25Speaker 7: It's been amazing. We're talking to customers here.
- 17:27Speaker 11: The openness, the honesty, the compassion for their patients, and
- 17:33Speaker 11: really everything that I talked about and issues here that
- 17:38Speaker 11: they're asking us to help solve is really driven by
- 17:41Speaker 11: the care for their patients.
- 17:43Speaker 7: And as a pharmacist and spending.
- 17:45Speaker 11: Time here at Thought Spot, these customers are truly amazing
- 17:48Speaker 11: and it's been so refreshing as a pharmacist to see
- 17:51Speaker 11: their passion and energy for the patient.
- 17:53Speaker 7: So it's been totally awesome.
- 17:56Speaker 11: I'm super excited to be here at Sincora, super excited
- 17:59Speaker 11: to be with our good neighbor pharmacies, super excited to
- 18:03Speaker 11: be with our elevate pharmacies.
- 18:05Speaker 5: It's it's it's.
- 18:06Speaker 11: Been really really refreshing, and I feel super energized after
- 18:10Speaker 11: being here and seeing.
- 18:11Speaker 7: You as like the cherry of a cake.
- 18:14Speaker 11: It's been great to catch up with you, my old friend,
- 18:16Speaker 11: and be able to talk pharmacy again with you.
- 18:20Speaker 7: It's always always a pleasure of my friend.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Thank you Nick for being on the show.
- 18:24Speaker 7: Absolutely, thank you.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Heybought Spot twenty twenty six. I'm here with Janet Parish.
- 18:32Speaker 3: What's the name of your pharmacy, Janet? A DARE drug,
- 18:36Speaker 3: A Dare drug. And where's this at?
- 18:38Speaker 12: Columbia, Kentucky. Okay, very rural area in south central Kentucky.
- 18:43Speaker 3: When you say rural, what I think of is the
- 18:46Speaker 3: area that I live in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. And rural
- 18:50Speaker 3: means that there's probably not as much coverage or healthcare
- 18:53Speaker 3: services even available for people that are in need of that.
- 18:57Speaker 3: So talk to me about your community a little bit
- 19:00Speaker 3: and how you serve them as an independent community pharmacy owner.
- 19:04Speaker 12: Well, there are a few pharmacies in town, three large
- 19:11Speaker 12: retail chain pharmacies and for little independent stores, and we
- 19:17Speaker 12: are one of those.
- 19:18Speaker 7: Okay.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And what's changed over the years. Do you see that
- 19:22Speaker 3: you're doing maybe more clinical services, or more diabetes management
- 19:26Speaker 3: or more of everything, more of everything?
- 19:29Speaker 12: You know, are a population in our areas.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Older poor, So every dollar, every dollar that's being spent
- 19:41Speaker 3: on healthcare services means more. In those kinds of environment,
- 19:45Speaker 3: there's no extra money maybe to be able to do something,
- 19:47Speaker 3: So you have to get it right the first time
- 19:50Speaker 3: as a pharmacist, as someone that's dialing into medication management,
- 19:54Speaker 3: part of that is the pharmacy management systems that you're using,
- 19:58Speaker 3: and more than just the system, somebody on the team
- 20:01Speaker 3: that can give you directions, Somebody on the team that
- 20:04Speaker 3: can help you with issues. Talk to us about your
- 20:06Speaker 3: experience with your CSM here with outcomes.
- 20:10Speaker 12: We've had Willy Hernandez since we purchased r X thirty,
- 20:18Speaker 12: so it's been about nine years. And at that time
- 20:21Speaker 12: he came to our store and helped us set it
- 20:25Speaker 12: up get going, and since then he has been promoted
- 20:30Speaker 12: a few times as he should be. I just I
- 20:34Speaker 12: can't say enough about Willy. There has never been an
- 20:38Speaker 12: issue that we've called him about.
- 20:42Speaker 9: He always takes care of it.
- 20:44Speaker 12: So it doesn't matter what happens. We call Willy first.
- 20:47Speaker 12: If we need to go somewhere else, we'll do it.
- 20:50Speaker 12: Don't want to, but we will call another person. It
- 20:53Speaker 12: may be a month, it may We like Lejeans that
- 20:56Speaker 12: we have three issues that we've had for some time
- 20:59Speaker 12: that haven't been correct again, not with Willy.
- 21:03Speaker 5: That's incredible.
- 21:04Speaker 12: If Willie can help, if it's an area that he
- 21:07Speaker 12: is that he can help with, it's done. If he
- 21:12Speaker 12: says he's going to call you tomorrow, he calls you
- 21:14Speaker 12: tomorrow always. And to be in a rural area, you
- 21:19Speaker 12: just feel like you're on your own.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Yeah, Janet, I notice a contrast between what you do
- 21:26Speaker 3: for your patients and what Willy is doing for you
- 21:30Speaker 3: ensure and you just got done saying that. In this
- 21:32Speaker 3: royal area there are people that don't have money, they're poor.
- 21:35Speaker 3: So when they come to you for solutions and you're
- 21:37Speaker 3: delivering that, it's making them feel cared about. That's the
- 21:40Speaker 3: way Willy's making you feel.
- 21:42Speaker 12: And that's exactly what he's He's the best at that.
- 21:45Speaker 12: When you call him, it's not like you're you're balthering
- 21:47Speaker 12: him or you know, oh ma, you've got another no,
- 21:50Speaker 12: how can.
- 21:51Speaker 9: I help you?
- 21:52Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 21:54Speaker 12: He's just he's amazing.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Is there any services that you're going to be rolling
- 22:00Speaker 3: out or doing in your community that might be new
- 22:02Speaker 3: to the community, for example, testing.
- 22:05Speaker 12: Or actually that we are just in the process of
- 22:08Speaker 12: being getting set up with that. Okay, long term care
- 22:13Speaker 12: at home. We've just signed up we're working on that.
- 22:16Speaker 12: We have congratulations, have done some construction to start testing
- 22:20Speaker 12: and just in early stages of that.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Excellent.
- 22:24Speaker 3: There's an education for the community there that says, hey, listen,
- 22:27Speaker 3: you may have an allergy, you may have something going
- 22:29Speaker 3: on in you to be able to have to sign
- 22:32Speaker 3: up and go to a physician or going to sometimes
- 22:34Speaker 3: that disrupts. Plus, they don't have the same trusts that
- 22:37Speaker 3: they do that they have with you in their community pharmacy.
- 22:40Speaker 3: That's exciting. Janet, thank you so much for sharing on
- 22:43Speaker 3: the thought Spot twenty twenty six. Thank you.
- 22:45Speaker 12: Thank you.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Kashl Patel here at thought Spot twenty twenty six. Thanks
- 22:54Speaker 3: for being on the show.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Thank you for having me.
- 22:56Speaker 3: All right, tell me about Apollo Pharmacy in the beautiful
- 23:00Speaker 3: city of Savannah, Georgia. Talk to me about the mix
- 23:03Speaker 3: of kind of the services that you're providing.
- 23:06Speaker 13: First of all, thank you for having me. And it's
- 23:08Speaker 13: a great honor my first podcast. So I'm excited. So
- 23:12Speaker 13: we opened our pharmacy on twenty sixteen July, so about
- 23:16Speaker 13: ten years exactly.
- 23:17Speaker 5: And we have two racuclations.
- 23:19Speaker 13: Thank you so much for that. We have two locations,
- 23:21Speaker 13: Savannah and Pooler. About suburbs of Savannah. We have been
- 23:25Speaker 13: very proactive in a community providing different sets of services
- 23:28Speaker 13: and things like that. One of my main driving force
- 23:32Speaker 13: would be immunizations and we are very actively involved in
- 23:36Speaker 13: that providing vaccine services. And during the COVID time, you
- 23:39Speaker 13: were one of the pioneer pharmacies in the city of
- 23:41Speaker 13: Savannah area providing COVID vaccines to shelter homes, church, different
- 23:47Speaker 13: nonprofit organizations and we cater to about over five homeless
- 23:52Speaker 13: shelter homes that I provided services during the peak COVID
- 23:55Speaker 13: time and apart from that, I do go and.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Catered to long term care patients. Assi said.
- 24:01Speaker 13: Living Independent Living provided all the vaccines such as new mocaccle,
- 24:06Speaker 13: You've got COVID, You've.
- 24:07Speaker 5: Got flu, pneumonia, RSV, and so forth.
- 24:11Speaker 13: It's been a blessing that people, you know, put your
- 24:13Speaker 13: trust in us and give us more opportunity to give
- 24:17Speaker 13: it back to the community that where I grew up
- 24:19Speaker 13: for past twenty five years. And other than that, we
- 24:22Speaker 13: offer free prescription the livery to our senior populations, a
- 24:26Speaker 13: lot of over the counter medication supplements. We were the
- 24:28Speaker 13: first pharmaciest in Southeast region to start CBD programmed, So
- 24:32Speaker 13: that was during twenty seventeen. That brought a lot more
- 24:36Speaker 13: awareness about holistic natural alternative medicine and not just the
- 24:41Speaker 13: Eastern so we're trying to mix between Western and Eastern medications.
- 24:44Speaker 13: We provide a lot more opportunities for people to open
- 24:47Speaker 13: up to us.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Give more reasoning what they want to achieve.
- 24:50Speaker 13: And we try our best to come up with the
- 24:52Speaker 13: better plan and offer the best care we can.
- 24:55Speaker 3: So, how has your technology supported your evolution? Talk to
- 25:00Speaker 3: us a little bit about how you've leveraged pharmacy systems.
- 25:04Speaker 13: So we've been with outcomes also known as addict study,
- 25:09Speaker 13: and that pharmacy system has given different suggestions and ideas
- 25:13Speaker 13: and platforms to better care for our pharmacy industry and
- 25:17Speaker 13: our community members. Some of them has been a game
- 25:20Speaker 13: changer for us, and you just have to adapt to
- 25:24Speaker 13: the new technology that's come out there. You have different
- 25:27Speaker 13: platforms out there, different systems, different setups that we go
- 25:32Speaker 13: every year step about to make things easier and faster,
- 25:35Speaker 13: not just for us as a user, but also for
- 25:38Speaker 13: our patients and community members.
- 25:40Speaker 3: When I think of the evolution of independent community pharmacies,
- 25:45Speaker 3: that you're where we want the pharmacies to go. You
- 25:49Speaker 3: said you're reaching out to independent community living and assisted
- 25:53Speaker 3: living and care homes and shelters, and how are you
- 25:59Speaker 3: getting the message out? How are you educating the community
- 26:03Speaker 3: that your pharmacy is empowering public health.
- 26:06Speaker 13: So we tie up with a lot a lot of
- 26:08Speaker 13: nonprofits in our surrounding area. Social media has been a
- 26:13Speaker 13: big helper for us. Facebook, Instagram, Google, and I think
- 26:17Speaker 13: this in day and age is social media age, I
- 26:19Speaker 13: would say, And now we have AI add it, so
- 26:22Speaker 13: that brings a lot more awareness, a lot more reach
- 26:25Speaker 13: to the people that we couldn't do past in the
- 26:27Speaker 13: in the past, I would say, So I feel like
- 26:29Speaker 13: we can bring more you know, awarenans to the people
- 26:33Speaker 13: on anywhere from high school, undergrad to a senior population.
- 26:39Speaker 13: So social media, the technology and other things as whole
- 26:44Speaker 13: can make difference not just to us, but the community
- 26:47Speaker 13: to what's.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Your advice to pharmacy operators listening, pharmacy owners listening to
- 26:52Speaker 3: this interview right now in order to continue to push
- 26:56Speaker 3: to get outside of just the dispensing aspect and really
- 26:59Speaker 3: starting aging the community with additional services that you're providing.
- 27:03Speaker 13: I think pharmacy has changed in the last five years
- 27:05Speaker 13: in my opinion, and now people are valuing us as
- 27:09Speaker 13: not just the pharmacystems also a somewhat provider status, and
- 27:14Speaker 13: post COVID people understood we're not just enough pull pushers
- 27:18Speaker 13: and like pill pushers and just filling medications. We provide immunizations,
- 27:23Speaker 13: we provide long term care support, we provide test to
- 27:27Speaker 13: treat during the COVID times, you know, we're testing and
- 27:30Speaker 13: things like that. So I tell my fellow peers that hey,
- 27:34Speaker 13: you know, there's so much resource out there, just you
- 27:37Speaker 13: have to take that extra step and try to go
- 27:39Speaker 13: outside the traditional pharmacy and see what you can.
- 27:42Speaker 5: Do to make a difference in your community.
- 27:44Speaker 13: And I feel like things like ARC Study Outcomes and
- 27:48Speaker 13: other platforms out there do support that cause. And I
- 27:51Speaker 13: feel like once we take that step and think outside
- 27:54Speaker 13: the box, there's so much thing you can do to
- 27:57Speaker 13: make things.
- 27:57Speaker 5: Better for our community and our patient.
- 27:59Speaker 13: And I've I feel like the pharmacist in the near
- 28:02Speaker 13: future will get more attention to from our community that
- 28:07Speaker 13: maybe not just a medication person, but we are also
- 28:10Speaker 13: a clinical person that can provide more and more services.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Coming over with Kashael, thank you so much for being
- 28:16Speaker 3: part of the podcast press coverage of the twenty twenty
- 28:19Speaker 3: six Thoughts Spot here in Orlando, Florida.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Thank thank you, thank you so much for having me.
- 28:23Speaker 5: It was pleasure. Thank you.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Hi.
- 28:29Speaker 14: This is Bionca Bradshaw with Elmore Pharmacy. You're listening to
- 28:32Speaker 14: the Pharmacy podcast.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Bianca back on the show. We were just talking with
- 28:42Speaker 3: Rob Kress, godfather Functional Health, and he brought you on
- 28:47Speaker 3: blew me away. Was excited. So having an opportunity to
- 28:50Speaker 3: talk with you again here at Thoughts Spot twenty twenty six,
- 28:53Speaker 3: this is special.
- 28:54Speaker 9: Thank you very much. It's great to be here.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, Your sweet sauce is in the ability
- 29:00Speaker 3: to really dial into some of the things you're passionate about.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Is pharmacists making money through provider practice agreements clinical services.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Give our listeners why you're passionate about that and how
- 29:13Speaker 3: that's working for you.
- 29:14Speaker 14: Well, I think the passions derived from the love of
- 29:18Speaker 14: spending time with the patients. So often in pharmacy we
- 29:21Speaker 14: don't get more than a second to talk to someone,
- 29:24Speaker 14: and owning my own store, I've had the luxury of
- 29:27Speaker 14: taking the time as long as I'm not slowing down
- 29:29Speaker 14: Another customer.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Do we have pharmacists that will reach out through social media,
- 29:33Speaker 3: They'll reach out through LinkedIn. They're asking questions of how
- 29:37Speaker 3: to get started. Talk to us about that. Like if
- 29:40Speaker 3: I'm a pharmacy owner and I'm like, I want more
- 29:43Speaker 3: information and this, I want to understand what Bianca's doing
- 29:45Speaker 3: and why you're successful in it. Where does a pharmacist start?
- 29:48Speaker 3: Where does a pharmacy owner start?
- 29:50Speaker 9: So I have a two prong approach.
- 29:52Speaker 14: For one, I am a certified clinical wellness coach. It's
- 29:55Speaker 14: a separate business, but I do operate within the pharmacy.
- 29:59Speaker 14: And then on the other side, from the pharmacy standpoint,
- 30:02Speaker 14: I am partnered with a company called Scripted and we
- 30:05Speaker 14: have a collaborative practice agreement that allows me to analyze
- 30:10Speaker 14: situations and in certain cases prescribe if appropriate under this
- 30:14Speaker 14: collaborative practice, So I'm able to help patients both from
- 30:17Speaker 14: a holistic side and a pharmacy side, depending on what
- 30:21Speaker 14: the need is.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Do you think there's a disease state or do you
- 30:24Speaker 3: think there's something out there that would be like a
- 30:27Speaker 3: good starting point for pharmacists diabetes or hypertension or deprescribing, Like,
- 30:32Speaker 3: what do you think is what do you think is
- 30:34Speaker 3: a good place to start.
- 30:36Speaker 14: Man, I think deprescribing is a huge place to start. Unfortunately,
- 30:39Speaker 14: we have to be careful not to step on toes,
- 30:42Speaker 14: but true, I think that just talking to patients about
- 30:45Speaker 14: what they're on, why they're on, and sending them back
- 30:48Speaker 14: to their physician with questions, educated patients are much more
- 30:54Speaker 14: able to take charge of their own health care.
- 30:56Speaker 9: And I think that's what we can provide as pharmacists.
- 30:59Speaker 3: And I think if it's done with curiosity, if it's
- 31:03Speaker 3: done with science, if it's done with poise and really
- 31:06Speaker 3: asking the good questions, you can almost prepare the patient
- 31:10Speaker 3: to go back and be asking some really good questions
- 31:13Speaker 3: about it. And then therefore the primary care is like, oh,
- 31:17Speaker 3: that's something that maybe they overlooked or they didn't see.
- 31:20Speaker 3: I think that gives an opportunity to bond the relationship
- 31:23Speaker 3: between the pharmacist and the physician.
- 31:25Speaker 5: Anyway, So in my.
- 31:27Speaker 14: Area, I've learned that physicians aren't overly educated.
- 31:32Speaker 9: Or confident in thyroid beyond just your TSHS high.
- 31:36Speaker 14: Let's give you some libothyroxyde and I have about five
- 31:40Speaker 14: physicians in my area that are actually sending patients to
- 31:43Speaker 14: me to ask the questions so that they can order
- 31:45Speaker 14: the labs.
- 31:45Speaker 9: That are appropriate and we can move forward.
- 31:48Speaker 5: That is cool.
- 31:49Speaker 3: See that's a really good starting point. You start some
- 31:52Speaker 3: success stories and you turn that into some testimonials. Maybe
- 31:56Speaker 3: even do a write up, publish something in your local paper,
- 31:59Speaker 3: like a dear or something so that they understand. Hey,
- 32:02Speaker 3: you might not even know this, but your local independent
- 32:04Speaker 3: community pharmacy could do xyz to help you demystify medication
- 32:10Speaker 3: management or whatever you're going through as a patient. But
- 32:12Speaker 3: I love that this has been good to reconnect with you.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I want you to promise to come back on this
- 32:17Speaker 3: week in Pharmacy. We'll probably invite Rob Krest back and
- 32:20Speaker 3: we're going to do another shakedown.
- 32:22Speaker 9: Sounds like a great plan. Thanks for having me.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Thank you for Bianca.
- 32:27Speaker 6: This is Zachary Levine with Sancora and you're listening to
- 32:30Speaker 6: the Pharmacy Podcast.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Zach, great to have you on thought Spot twenty twenty
- 32:36Speaker 3: six podcast press coverage. Thanks for being here.
- 32:40Speaker 6: Thank you for having me.
- 32:40Speaker 7: Excited to be here.
- 32:42Speaker 3: This is the Pharmacy Podcast Network's second thought Spot. We
- 32:46Speaker 3: love the energy, we love the fact that there are
- 32:50Speaker 3: pharmacy owners here. Good neighbor pharmacies here that are doing
- 32:53Speaker 3: some really interesting things and clinical expanding their business through
- 32:57Speaker 3: cash based systems and their footprint with delivery and some
- 33:03Speaker 3: other things that are happening. But I want to talk
- 33:06Speaker 3: about the conference itself. Give our listeners a little track.
- 33:09Speaker 3: There's listeners right now that are in their cars, they're
- 33:13Speaker 3: walking their dogs, and they didn't get a chance to
- 33:15Speaker 3: come to the conference. So talk to us about thought
- 33:17Speaker 3: Spot twenty twenty six.
- 33:19Speaker 6: Oh my god, Todd, I've been coming to thought Spot.
- 33:22Speaker 6: This is now my fifth thought Spot with Sancora, and
- 33:25Speaker 6: the energy is electric. So to your point, we've really
- 33:28Speaker 6: been focusing on how do we help pharmacies free their time,
- 33:32Speaker 6: focus their care and fuel their growth throughout, bring that
- 33:37Speaker 6: energy back to their store and really be able to
- 33:38Speaker 6: implement a lot of those things. And we've had record
- 33:41Speaker 6: attendance this year. As I'm walking the showroom floor that
- 33:44Speaker 6: just the vibe and the field has been so positive.
- 33:48Speaker 7: It's so great.
- 33:49Speaker 6: I think the best part of any conference is when
- 33:51Speaker 6: you see a lot of pharmacy owners networking and the
- 33:54Speaker 6: information share has been incredible across all our pharmacies. You
- 33:58Speaker 6: see pharmacy owners is coming together hugging, saying hi hello,
- 34:02Speaker 6: sharing all these best practices, and it's been wonderful to
- 34:05Speaker 6: see so far this.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Year really a lot of independent community pharmacies. Some of
- 34:11Speaker 3: our chain pharmacies. There's been kind of a collapse in
- 34:15Speaker 3: some ways, pharmacy deserts popping up. But we're seeing pharmacy
- 34:21Speaker 3: owners who are better prepared and are leveraging their relationships
- 34:25Speaker 3: with Sincora and technology partners to really begin growth. And
- 34:31Speaker 3: this is a stage that I think we're in. Talk
- 34:33Speaker 3: to us about your ideas around Sincora, some of the
- 34:36Speaker 3: solutions and the programs that you deliver through the Good
- 34:39Speaker 3: Neighbor pharmacies, and how you're helping to support them in growth.
- 34:43Speaker 6: I'm so blessed when I wake up every day, I
- 34:45Speaker 6: wake up energize and ready to help independent pharmacy. So
- 34:49Speaker 6: I'm blessed to be able to oversee the Good Neighbor
- 34:51Speaker 6: of pharmacy network as a pharmacist myself, I say it
- 34:55Speaker 6: all the time, and I know this might sound a
- 34:57Speaker 6: little biased, but I cannot imagine owning an independent pharmacy
- 35:00Speaker 6: without the support of something like Good Neighbor Pharmacy. We
- 35:03Speaker 6: are in their stores where an expansion of their team.
- 35:07Speaker 6: We're offering business performance coaching services, merchandising services, local marketing
- 35:12Speaker 6: advisor services to really help. We know that there's a
- 35:16Speaker 6: lot that they need to do every day. We know
- 35:18Speaker 6: there's a lot that the teams are focusing on, so
- 35:20Speaker 6: we try to take a lot off their plate.
- 35:22Speaker 5: And what I'm.
- 35:23Speaker 6: Really excited about this year is we've come with a
- 35:25Speaker 6: ton of new releases at thought Spot to help our
- 35:28Speaker 6: pharmacies with that and a couple of the things I'd
- 35:31Speaker 6: love to share with you please.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:33Speaker 6: So one of the things that we've released this year
- 35:36Speaker 6: is what we're calling Pharmacy Partners.
- 35:37Speaker 7: Select Good Neighbor.
- 35:39Speaker 6: Pharmacy is in the business to help pharmacies make more money,
- 35:43Speaker 6: help them save money, help free up their time, and
- 35:47Speaker 6: help them honestly just with the day to day make
- 35:49Speaker 6: it easier. And one of the ways in which we're
- 35:52Speaker 6: doing that is we're leveraging the size of our network
- 35:55Speaker 6: really go out and get the best negotiated rates that
- 35:57Speaker 6: we can with vendor partners. We already know that our
- 36:00Speaker 6: pharmacies are integrated with a lot of vendor partners, So
- 36:02Speaker 6: what we're going out is we're going out and vetting
- 36:04Speaker 6: those partners and bringing them into the networking and saying hey,
- 36:06Speaker 6: here's a negotiated rate. Is being a part of our network.
- 36:10Speaker 6: We've launched AI powered reviews. It is so important for
- 36:14Speaker 6: pharmacies as we continue to get into this technological error
- 36:18Speaker 6: in this era of AI, that they're managing their online reputation.
- 36:22Speaker 6: And as I said, I'm a pharmacist, I did not
- 36:25Speaker 6: get a single class on marketing in pharmacy school. So
- 36:29Speaker 6: being able to help our pharmacists in a more hands
- 36:31Speaker 6: off play and one of the ways that we're doing
- 36:33Speaker 6: that is through AI powered reviews. So now as they're
- 36:36Speaker 6: receiving reviews from whichever Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, Google, it's all
- 36:40Speaker 6: being fed into one platform, going right to their phone
- 36:43Speaker 6: and it's going to say, hey, here's the review that
- 36:46Speaker 6: you received, here's the recommended response. All you have to
- 36:49Speaker 6: do is approve it. So there's just been so much excitement.
- 36:53Speaker 6: Those are just a couple of the things that we've launched.
- 36:56Speaker 6: So it's been great.
- 36:57Speaker 3: That's incredible to hear in the leverage of communications to
- 37:02Speaker 3: your community is so important. We're always encouraging pharmacies pharmacy
- 37:09Speaker 3: owners to use social media to let the community know
- 37:12Speaker 3: that they Hey, did you know that we do immunizations?
- 37:16Speaker 3: Did you know that we have a birth control solution?
- 37:19Speaker 3: Did you know we have supplements to help you live better.
- 37:23Speaker 3: If you're not communicating that out through social media, which
- 37:26Speaker 3: is today's modern day radio and newspaper, it's people don't know.
- 37:32Speaker 3: People don't know that, then they're just going to go
- 37:34Speaker 3: to They're going to go to Amazon, or they're going
- 37:36Speaker 3: to look on their phone for some other source. So
- 37:38Speaker 3: it's so important as a community pharmacy to constantly be
- 37:42Speaker 3: communicating outward and yeah, good neighbors positioning to really help
- 37:47Speaker 3: pharmacies do that. So what are you most excited about
- 37:51Speaker 3: leading into into the eve of twenty twenty six and
- 37:55Speaker 3: into twenty twenty seven.
- 37:56Speaker 6: I think it's just continuing to monitor the scope of
- 37:59Speaker 6: practice across the country. Pharmacies and pharmacists are continuing to
- 38:04Speaker 6: be relied on to fill gaps and care, and what
- 38:07Speaker 6: we're laser focused on is being able to support our
- 38:09Speaker 6: pharmacies to be able to take advantage of those opportunities
- 38:13Speaker 6: and to be able to make it easier for them
- 38:14Speaker 6: to service their patients. I couldn't be more excited about
- 38:19Speaker 6: the future of pharmacy. Time and time again, we as
- 38:22Speaker 6: pharmacists continue to show up for our communities and it's becoming.
- 38:26Speaker 7: More and more recognized.
- 38:28Speaker 6: So I think twenty twenty seven that tra directory is
- 38:30Speaker 6: just going to continue.
