- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Welcome to the Mike Blitz Podcast.
- 0:02SPEAKER_02: It's the quick six episode.
- 0:03SPEAKER_02: Last week we talked about it.
- 0:05SPEAKER_02: Who was going to score 20 points first, Iowa or Michigan?
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: And Iowa did it with no time left on the clock.
- 0:10SPEAKER_02: Who's going to score more than 30?
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: Mississippi or Florida?
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: You're not going to believe who actually did it.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: And also, after last week, who is the number one receiver in all of college football?
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: Malachi Tony, Legree from Oregon State, that and more.
- 0:23SPEAKER_02: This is the Quick Sixth episode on the Mike Blitz Podcast.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the Mike Blitz, my hosts Mark Franzen and Darren Stedman.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: How y'all doing?
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Ready for some quick sticks action?
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Bring it on.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: The quick sticks.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Let's get into it.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: You ready to review what happened last week?
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, give us the good news.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Give us the good and bad news, Darren.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: How did everybody do?
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: How did I do?
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Yep, yep, yep.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Mark, hold that thought.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: It's not good news.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna tell you that I'm it's not good, not good news.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: It's not gonna be great news.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Um, so want to start by saying uh a quick plea, a quick quick plea for our listeners to jump on the Discord and click that quick six.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: I would love to see.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: We got a couple people um participating every single week.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: We got a handful of folks regulars, but if you're new to the quick six, get in the Discord and I posted a time or two a week and fill out that six question form.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: It shouldn't take you but four minutes or less.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: So, number one from last week, it was the big game Texas at Tennessee.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And we asked who is gonna rush for more yardage, and well, we had a little snafu in the pregame warmups.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Hollywood smothers aggravated an injury and decided that he wasn't gonna play.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And so Hollywood did not play.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And so those who voted for Deshaun Bishop are gonna get the point for this one.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: So Deshaun Bishop does have a good game for Tennessee, and he is our winner, Mike Wade and myself.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Uh sorry, Mark.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: I mean, I even wrote down Bishop.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: Gosh, smothers.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Mark, I've I think you said I like the name Hollywood.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: I know I did.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: I wrote down Bishop, but then I was like, I do like the name Hollywood.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Check the check the videotape.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: It's a great name.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, but that's kind of an asterisk.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: So let's move on to number two.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: We had Iowa at Michigan.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: We asked, is somebody gonna score 20 points or not?
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Uh very real case for neither team getting to 20 points.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Unbelievable how this would land.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Um, Mike Wade, you chose Michigan, which was looking okay.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Mark, you chose neither team will score 20, which was looking really good.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: But I chose Iowa, and they actually did get to 20 points on the game winner at the last second of the game.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: As the clock hit zero.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Dang.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: So we didn't have to do that.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Could have happened to a better team of the Michigan Wolverines to lose with no time on the clock.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: And so Iowa gets to 20.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: And I get the point.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Good for you.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, that's two points for me for those keeping track.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Uh number three, we had the big one, Mississippi Old Miss at Florida.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Dude.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: And a similar question, which we knew, knew, knew that somebody would get to 30 points, and they did real quick.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: These two teams put up a huge number of points.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: And so Florida.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Florida Gators got to 31st.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Wade, you were riding that Trinidad Chambliss train, and you chose Mississippi.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Mark, you chose Old Miss as well.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: So another point for your host here.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: I'm three for three, and you guys are in the dust.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Let's go on to number four.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I was really hoping for my boy John Matteir, who I still kind of like, but that's getting harder and harder these days to score a rushing touchdown.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: He definitely should have done that in the second quarter instead of fumbling the ball like a complete doofus and letting Georgia pick it up and run it all the way back for a touchdown.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: He probably should have should have just ran that ball in instead of putting it up for a pass and fumbling it.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: So the question was will there be a quarterback rushing touchdown?
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Michael Wade was the only one to choose the right answer, which was no.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Am I O for this so far?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: There was not.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Mark, I'm afraid you're O for so far, but not good.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Not so good.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: It's good for the Discord, everybody uh go against me.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Let's go on to question number five.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Little spoiler, Mark, you're back in the points column.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Will Malachi Tony end up as college football's number one in receiving yards?
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Going into the weekend, he was 32 yards behind Legree from Oregon State.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: And so Jesse Legree.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Did Malachi Tony make up that yardage?
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: No.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: We all chose the correct answer of no.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: He had six catches.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: He had six catches for 120, though, didn't he?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, not a bad day for either guy, to be clear.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Tony Tony made up some yardage, but Legree also had a really good, really big day.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: We got Oregon State scoring huge passing yardage here.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: They're throwing the ball all over the field.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: And so Jesse Legree is still ahead of Malakatone by 21 yards.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: But they're both not number one.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: What?
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: I saw that.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Did you realize this?
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: They're both not number one.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Jeremiah Smith takes over the lead.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: He has another monster day, and he is number one in college football and receiving yardage.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Jeremiah Smith, which puts him up into the Heisman favorite ranks.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: He's so good.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Uh we all scored it.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Next up, we got we got Oregon at USC for question number six.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: And we asked which quarterback will have more passing yardage.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, Dante Moore took a huge blow to the head and a concussion.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Really, really hope he's okay.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: I hate that play.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: And you know, our guy from USC who needs to eat a lot of crow and spend a lot of time thinking about in his room.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: That was a that was a disgrace.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: So Dante Moore does get knocked out of the game, but let's look at it like this Jaden Maeva uh throws for 326 yards.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: My gosh, huge game again.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Oregon, when you combine what Dante had done, and then Rayola comes in, they combine for 366, which actually is more than Maeva.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: But we're gonna give the point to Jaden Maeva because we were specific about Dante Moore.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: And so Jaden Maeva is gonna get the point there, and that's Mike Wade's point.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: And so did I pick?
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Did I get you and I, Mark, we picked Dante Moore.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: Dude, I make notes about this and then I say the wrong thing and get it wrong.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Very disappointed in myself.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, good time.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: You know, if you're gonna go with your heart, this is the segment to go with your heart.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Um, if you like Jade Maeva is also leading the country.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Our number one passer, Jaden Maeva.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: If you're gonna go with your heart pick, do it, yeah, do it in this this episode.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: If you'd like the name Hollywood, yeah, go for it.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Pick Hollywood.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: I believe.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: So the final score, Mark, you got one point this week.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so that's not nothing.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Literally not nothing.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Michael and Darren, we both got four points.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: So it's a tie between Wade and Stedman.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: Um my Discords, I'm sorry I didn't total those up.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: We only had a couple participants in the Discord.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Here's what I do know somebody got four, I think somebody got a four spot in there that tied with me and Mike.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: I always look for a perfect score.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: And Discord, I'll say you this.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: This is your here's your incentive.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: If I see a six for six perfect score, you're gonna get a goofy gift in the mail from me.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, I like it.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: I have it.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: I've already given out a Akron Zips t-shirt to Mike Wade for his birthday and quick six performance first couple weeks.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Thank you very much.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Um I would love to see a six for six in the Discord, and when I do, you're gonna get something goofy.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: You'll get a stupid rub rubber ducky with a UVA sword on it or something.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: I I have a cup.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: I got the UVA game I used to mix paint in my garage.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: I can give somebody.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Another keeper.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: All right, so we did go.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: Me and Mike went four for six.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Not a bad week.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Mark, here's your chance to totally redeem yourself.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: And totally redeem yourselves.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: Played Mac quality football here on the quick six.
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: I gotta I gotta up my game to a power four.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: I got question number one coming up for week five.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: We got a couple, couple bangers, couple matched on ranked on ranked matchups.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: We got Alabama at Mississippi State, and this quick six question is so very obvious.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: We gotta go Camario or Keelan.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: So let me give you the stats on these guys, and the question is gonna end up being who accounts for more yardage, rushing and passing?
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Gotcha.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm gonna give you both of them.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Keelan Russell has 1,129 passing yards.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: He's got 168 rushing yards, not too shabby.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Camario Taylor has 1,100, flip those two last two numbers, 92 passing yards, and 185 rushing yards.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: That puts Camario a little bit ahead of Russell's total yardage so far.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: They're pretty close, even though they're really close.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: They both have the same amount of games.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're we're like 110 yards away from each other.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Um, so question is who's gonna put up more total yardage against each other?
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: I can't wait to watch this game.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Keylon or Camario.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: I already hate my pick, but I'm gonna just get out of the way.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: I'm taking Keylon.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: Mississippi's defense is a fraction of what Alabama's defense is, and that's gonna be the difference here.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: I think Camario Taylor's gonna do I really do, but Mississippi State has nowhere near the amount of defensive talent that Alabama has.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: They are at home, so maybe they'll play their hair on fire.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Maybe they can do some things, but the discrepancy between Mississippi State's deep offense and Alabama's offense, I think is pretty close.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: It's the defense where it's a big difference.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna lean into that, unfortunately.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna be Keelan.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna go with I whenever I play fantasy football, I like to find a quarterback who has a a poor defense because that means they're gonna have to throw the ball, they're gonna have to get a ton of yards in the game because they're gonna be playing catch-up the whole game.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: Now, Alabama's favorite by six.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: I think I like Camario for this because they're going to have to be moving the ball.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: I think Alabama goes up early, I think they're gonna have to come back, and I I like what I've seen so far.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna go Camario for that fact.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: The total in this game is hovering around 60, and with these two quarterbacks, man, this is gonna be an awesome game to watch.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: It's at noon on Saturday, and so for your calendar.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go with, and Mark, sorry, one more time.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Who'd you end up going with?
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Taylor.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: And Mark, I'm with you.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go with the home team.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go with the home team because you know what's happening in Mississippi State's locker room?
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Uh the rec yeah, that's definitely happening.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: The record scratches, and everybody is looking at the defense, and they're saying, Hey guys, we have a freaking good offense here.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: We need you to step up.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Everybody who has a defense on their business card needs to step it up.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: This is your this is your wake-up call because we've got a real team here, a 15-ranked team.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: So Camario's gonna get it done, and the defense for the home team is gonna step up and shut down Keelan.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: And by shutdown, I mean hold him to a less than spectacular number.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: He's still gonna be really good.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Question number two.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: We got Ohio State.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Ohio State Buckeyes going to Hawkeyes.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the Buckeyes and the Hawkeyes are matching up at 3.30 on Saturday.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: This game total is 44.5.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Low total.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: The spread, the spread is Ohio State by 14.5.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: And so what that little math adds up to is a predicted score of around 15 for the Hawkeyes and 30 for Ohio State.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: Something like that.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: My question is similar to last week's Iowa question, does Iowa get to 15 points or more this week?
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna set their their team total points over under at 14.5.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Do you think they're gonna go over or under 14.5 total points, Iowa Hawkeyes?
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: They're playing that Ohio State stout defense, but they're playing it at home uh in Iowa.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: I see some special teams points here.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: I'm going the over.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm also taking the over.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: I Illinois pushed him around a little bit.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Ohio State's defense is good.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Ohio State's defense is good.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Ohio State's defense is good.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: I'm never gonna say they're not.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: They are not anywhere near the level they were last year.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: They lost something like six first rounders or whatever it was.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: I don't think Ohio State is the absolute wrecking ball on defense that it was the last two years.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: And I've I was I thought I thought Illinois was able to carve some things up.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Iowa's gonna scheme some things up.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: They're gonna they're gonna be special teams.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: It might be six field goals.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be shocked if it was six field goals.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm taking the over.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Let's not forget that the Iowa Hawkeyes were sitting at 14 points for 99.9% of the game this week.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: They they only scored that many against Iowa State as well.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: No, I'm gonna go under here.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: I don't think the Hawkeyes at home are gonna go over 14.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: I think they'll score exactly 14.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: I think that's what they got in them.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Wrong wrong.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: So we got two overs and me, I'm gonna zag and say under.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Question number three.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: We've got Florida.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Uh the Gators are on the scene.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: They're going to Mizzou.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: And I've been singing the praises of the Missouri Tigers defense.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Uh, but let's see what they're made of.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Let's put eyes on Jaden Ball.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: Of course, he is a real Heisman contender.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: Jaden Ball is six foot one and 225 pounds.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: He's in his third year.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: He is leading FBS in touchdowns with 11 touchdowns scored so far this year in four games.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: He is averaging 7.2 yards per carry.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Here's his yardage over four games.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Ready?
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: 160, 136, 162, 142.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: That's averaging 150.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like five yards a carry, too.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well over.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: So this week, he's going to Mizzou on the road after a banger of a win.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: It's the same scenario that Ole Miss was in this this week.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: After a banger of a win, they're going on the road to a pretty formidable opponent.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Mizzou.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: And Mizoo allowed, for reference, they allowed Fluff Bothwell, can't say that enough, to s to rush for 122 last week.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Mizzou did.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Mizzou's not a not a bad rushing defense.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Here's my question about Jaden Ball.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Will he go over or under 140 yards?
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Under Missouri's gonna Missouri's they're playing this game's in Columbia too.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: Missouri is going to play.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: This is a letdown spot.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: This is it.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: They we just watched this thing happen with unstoppable, immovable force, unbreakable object, old miss.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: They went to Gainesville.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Look what happened.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: You're telling me the Florida Gators, for as good as they've been, as good as they've looked, they're not susceptible to letdown.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: I need to see it.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: I don't believe it.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: I also think they're that running the running back do they have Duke Clark?
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: He's also a stud.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: I'm saying under.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be surprised if he only got 80 or 90 yards or less.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Missouri is gonna play with their hair on fire.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: Their back's the wall too.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: They lost a game to Mississippi.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: They probably thought they might have could have won.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: They need this game.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: They're gonna play good defense.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: I'm way under on this one.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: Give me the number again.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: 140.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Does ball does ball go to 140 or not?
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm gonna go under.
- 17:04SPEAKER_02: I really want to say over just to just to have an opposite opinion.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: But you know he put up 266 last year against Florida State?
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: 266.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: So you got under?
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'll go under.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: I'll go under.
- 17:17SPEAKER_02: I'll go under.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna zag on you guys again.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go over uh Jaden Ball.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: Let's just, you know, let's back out the the microscope a little bit.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Jaden Ball is running back royalty right now.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: He is matchup proof.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Uh it doesn't matter.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: They're gonna feed him the ball 25 times.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: He's gonna go for 200.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Lord is gonna win this game.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: They're gonna not let down anything.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: They're just gonna keep their ball out.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Say that.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: He is gonna be.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Bow out.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Out or bow out.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: That's let's rewrite that question.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Ball out or bow out?
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: He's bowing out.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: Balls out.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: He's going over 140.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Question number four.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: We got Miami Hurricanes going to the recently revived and resurrected Clemson Tigers.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: And this is in Death Valley, uh, where Michael and I were last year.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: I guess we could still call them Death Valley, can we?
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Have they have they relinquished the right to use those words after what happened in August?
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Who was first Clemson, I think, has a strong one.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: I think they were.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, strong opinion.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: Doesn't matter.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: We won by we've been by 50.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: They can't say anything to us.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: So Miami's Miami's going north, going to Clemson.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Uh Clemson last week at halftime was beating Cal on the road at Cal.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: JKS bottled him up, and they were winning 10 to 7.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Clemson was winning 10 to 7 last week on the road at a good Cal with a good quarterback.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: My question for you about this game is Miami going to cover 7.5 points at halftime or not?
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: So I got Miami minus 7.5 at halftime.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: They need to come out here and set the tone, or else Clemson's going to get into the ugly game that they want to get into and keep it close within three points of the whole game and try to win it on the last minute.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: Um, Miami's gonna want to come out here and score 21 real quick, but can they do it?
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Looks like Clemson's got a real defense.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say I'm gonna say no because Clemson, it's a night game.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: They're coming off three straight wins, their backs to the wall.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Miami crystal ball, he's been a little streaky.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: We've talked about him before he has in these spots.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: And my I think Clemson knows to have a chance at this game, they have to keep their this the stadium in the game as long as possible.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna take the ball first as well, if they can.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: They're not gonna defer.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna try and score quickly, and I think they're gonna have some schemes, some plays, some things for a little while, quarter and a half, and enough to keep it close.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: And then Miami is gonna say, all right, enough of this.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: And they're gonna blow them out.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: I think that second half is gonna go their way.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: But I like Clemson to hang tough for a first half.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: I might even sprinkle a little bit on the Clemson like first quarter money line, something crazy like that.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Just to see if they can't come out quick and fast.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: But Miami will outlast them and Miami will eventually pull away and win.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: They might even cover the 17 and a half total, but I like Clemson to find a way to keep it close in the half, keep their season in the prime time for as long as they can.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: Mark, you can choose Clemson plus seven and a half at halftime or the other side.
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: Let's see here.
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: Clemson weather this Saturday, October 3rd will be light rain and showers with a high near 80, with light rain and daytime showers and a chance of precipitation in the evening from 30 to 45 percent during the day.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: That feels like Miami weather.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: So I am taking Miami to take me over and score a ton of points in the first half and just take out Clemson early.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Is Miami the team that we think they are?
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Are they gonna just blast?
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Are they gonna fulfill that prophecy?
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: Or is Clemson resurrected truly?
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: This is a tough one for me.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: I have no idea what I'm gonna do.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: What did Mensa do last year?
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: Did Duke play Clemson last year?
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: Right is my question.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: Um I'm glad you are.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: It gives me a second to think.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, all right.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: So oh Duke Duke beat Clemson 46 45.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: And Mensah had a pretty good game.
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: 27.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: I'm sure he did.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: They scored 361 and four touchdowns.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: That just it just puts a cherry on the cake of my my pick right there.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've already typed it into my little screen.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: Screen here, Miami minus seven and a half at halftime.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Mike, you're standing alone with the Tigers.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: I like it that way.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Question number five.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: I like to keep an eye on the Heisman favorites.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: And so DraftKings says the following.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: The Heisman favorite right now.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: Do you know who it is?
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: Do you want to guess?
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Smith.
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: Mensah or Smith?
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: Jeremiah Smith.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, nice.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Jeremiah Smith after his monster game.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: He's sitting in number one as a as a receiving yards.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: He's the Heisman favorite.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: He's plus 280 right now.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Jeez.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: Darien Minsa, a little bit worse, but not bad.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Plus 430, 4 to 1.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: And after that, it's like a plus 900.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: And so these two guys are are, you know, clearly uh clearly the phrase where it's question is after next week, after we play a week five slate of games, will the Heisman favorite be a quarterback or not?
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Here's what these two are doing.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: I'll give you this context Jeremiah Smith and Ohio State, we know they're going to Iowa.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: And so they might, they might probably will.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: They're favored by 14 and a half.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: They might get a good quality win under the belt.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: Darien Minsa, we just said is playing at Clemson.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: They're a 17-point favorite, 17 and a half.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: And so though both these teams might get a good quality win, will the Heisman favorite remain Jeremiah Smith?
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Or will Darien Minsa or another quarterback take him up?
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: Or will Jaden Ball, a non-quarterback, actually vault to the number one spot and be the favorite?
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Will it be a quarterback or not?
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: Will it be a quarterback or will it be?
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: So Jaden Ball wouldn't count.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: Jordan Jaden Ball would be the wrong answer.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: Jaden Ball would count for the he would count for the not a quarterback answer.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, all right.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: So there's so the so your only three shots are big game of Darien Mentz at Miami, big game of Camario upsetting Alabama.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: I think if he ups if Camario upsets Alabama, you could see him get to the top.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: Trinidad, who do we say?
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Who's old Miss playing this week?
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Is Ole Miss playing anybody?
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: I don't think they are.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: Nobody super I'll look it up.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: I could tell you.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: No.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: Jeremiah Smith.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: Also, I don't think I don't think I I was gonna slow him down.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Iowa's play smart defense.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: They're gonna have they're gonna shade coverage to his side every time.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: They're gonna have a guy over the top.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: So they could probably, I mean, Iowa is a good enough team to keep him under 100, but he also might Jeremiah Smith them and have 150 and three touchdowns.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: So no, there will not be a quarterback as the Heisman favorite after this week.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be Jeremiah Smith going into week six.
- 25:20SPEAKER_02: Ole Miss has the week off, so Trinidad's going nowhere.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: So really, so yeah, so it has to be it has to be Cambario big day upsetting Alabama or Mensa just being a human highlight real at Clemson.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: And probably Jeremiah Smith having only 40 yards.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: In October of 2024, when Ohio State went to Iowa and lost 35-7 to the Hawkeyes, Jeremiah Smith had four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: But then again, he's just been a monster.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: 12 catches, 217 last week against Iowa.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: Or against Illinois.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: Dang.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Against Illinois.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: He went over 200.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't see him leaving four touchdowns.
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: He's got six on the year or seven on the year so far.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: I'm going non-quarterback.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so CJ Carr goes to UNC next week.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: He could reclaim his number one spot as a Heisman favorite.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: That's a long shot.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: I'm probably shouldn't throw.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: Uh Camario and Mensa definitely could.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: I think it's gonna be.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: No, I think it'll stay.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: Jeremiah Smith, I gotta stay with that one.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: I gotta go with you guys.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: We're all we're all on Smith.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: Yes, yeah.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be Smith.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: And so non, so non-quarterback is our is our vote, actually.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: So it's non-QB, which means it could be Malachi Tony.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, I mean ball.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: Malachi Tony's not rushed for 250.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: I mean, he could be there.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Malachi Tony's like he's fallen, he's fallen by the wayside a little bit.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: We're gonna need some of these quarterbacks or someone to get hurt for him to climb back in it.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: But he's not out of it by any means.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: He's still having a monster season.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: He just needs to keep racking him up.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: And he needs some guys to fall by the wayside.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: Look where we were at this year.
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: Last year at this point, I don't think Mendoza was up there in the top five yet.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: So he was nobody thought he was at this point in this at this point in the season, nobody thought Mendoza was going to be who he was.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: So somebody's out there, somebody might very well be coming.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: All right, so question number six.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: We got our last one.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: The question is this is the time of the year when I thought we would see a firing, a head coach FBS firing.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: Last year it happened after week three.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: And now we have made it to Sunday of week four, and we haven't seen yet an FBS head coach be fired.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's not huge news.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: Last year it was insanity.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: But the question is after next week, after the slate of week five, will there be a head coach fired?
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: And I gotta tell you, I think I'm gonna leave this question on the quick six next week if it doesn't hit and repeat it until it does.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Because somebody like that.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: Somebody's gonna be so let me re let me rephrase, let me say my question again because I didn't say it right just now.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: After this week, if a FBS hit head coach is fired this week, who will it be?
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: I actually do want you to name a coach.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: Here's what I'll tell you.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: Yep, and I'll give you a little context.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: All right, I've got a small list going here of my coaches.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: I got a hot seat list.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: I want you to look at uh Mike Loxley.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: Um Maryland.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Yep, Maryland.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: I want to look at Dave Dorn, NC State.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, Dave Aranda, Baylor, Shane Beamer, South Carolina.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: He's a little bit safer, but they did lose a couple in a row now.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: Um Mike Norvell, FSU.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Bill O'Brien, Boston College, just took a loss to the rookies.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: Did you see the interview with Bill O'Brien during the Virginia Tech game where they went up to him and he's like, I'm just not gonna talk to you.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: Did he really?
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: No, he was very dismissive, and they were on the broadcast, they were just like, Whoa, well, he did coach with Belichick for a long time.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:07SPEAKER_02: He was kind of he was kind of salty out there on a rainy day.
- 29:10SPEAKER_02: Sorry to cut you off.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: No, it's okay.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: I got one more name for you to seriously consider Rutgers, Greg Ciano.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: Dude.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: And so give me a name of a coach.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Give me a name of a coach who's gonna be fired if there is a firing.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: If there's anyone to be fired, it's gonna be Shane Beamer.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: They are Shane Beamer.
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: They are three-point favorites at home against Kentucky.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: They lose that game as favorites at home, and I think they will.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: I think Kentucky's gonna go down there and beat them by 10.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: Frankly, that's it's already over.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: It's over for Loxley, it's over for Norvell, it's probably over for Aranda.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: A couple of those other guys, I think, have a chance.
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: Dave Dorn, I think I they're gonna give him some more time.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: I think it is all the way over for Shane Beamer, and they are favored to win at home.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: They lose, it's over.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: So give me Shane.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Gotcha.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: My second choice would be Loxley.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna go Norvell because it was the UVA game last year where they got rushed the field, Mike got trampled by a Florida State player, and this is the year.
- 30:17SPEAKER_02: If Norvell loses to UVA at home, I think he's done.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: What is that to be by by the time we record next week?
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: Or yeah, by the time we record.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: If it's somebody it's him, I'll take that one.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, by Sunday.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Can I get bonus points?
- 30:31SPEAKER_02: I had a one in six week or one in five week last week.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: Can I get bonus points?
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: Can I get a multiplier?
- 30:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, and we'll we will update, we will update the pod on Tuesday if we have to, because we will we will record about, you know, if if we record and a firing happens before our Tuesday night, we'll just update.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go with Loxley at Maryland.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: I think that I think they might do it like tomorrow.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Should I is this question after?
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Is this the question like starting right now?
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: Is that okay?
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, starting now, starting now, totally.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because I know I'm saying like after the games, but they don't have to wait till after the games.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: They could fire Loxley tomorrow morning on Monday.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: Um, so I'll go with Loxley at Maryland.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think I think the that Maryland is the the bottom of a Big Ten that you know this bottom is slowly disappearing, so they gotta do something different.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: He's gone.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: And I his yeah, go ahead.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: They're two touchdown dogs in Nebraska, they're due for a drubbing again.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: So there's gonna be another it's gonna be another bad luck for the Turps, unfortunately.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: Also looked at the looked up the buyouts, and so his is actually relatively low.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: Mike Lockley's Loxley's buyout is 9.2 million bucks, not a problem, and that's low, and that's no sweat for these guys.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: Um who else do we say?
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: Shame beamer, his buyout will be about 28 million, little bit more chunk of a change.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: And Mike Norvell is 51.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: I yeah, I don't know what they're gonna do.
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, 51 mil for Mike Norvell at FSU.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: I'm still taking him.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: And the good folks in Tallahassee will gladly shell out 51 mil to get a get a fresh start.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: You ever you ever been to coacheshotseat.com?
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: That's where I'm getting these numbers.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: I should oh are you?
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: I I actually wrote it in my notes.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: This is where some info is coming from.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, coaches coacheshotseat.com.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they do have Shiano as number one.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: Going to speak for.
- 32:36SPEAKER_00: Yep, they got Ciano, Norvell, and Fickle sitting at number three, and my guy Loxley at a country.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: Fickle might have redeemed himself.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: Fickle got he bought himself some time.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and he's gonna and they're gonna beat the snot out of Michigan State this week.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: So things are things are fickle's gonna be okay for a minute.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 32:52SPEAKER_02: Fitzgerald's putting something together, they can run the ball with Michigan State.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: That's about all that.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: I got your votes.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: I got Shame Beamer getting fired by Mr.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: Wade and the and the team.
