- 0:00Speaker 1: Now, much more Mark. Mark Simone. Now, 9 till noon weekdays.
- 0:07Speaker 1: On 710WOR.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Well, we'll take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number. As
- 0:14Speaker 2: I mentioned, the judge ruled the president cannot ban those
- 0:18Speaker 2: networks from the White House. The local left-wing D.C. judge
- 0:23Speaker 2: ruled he cannot ban them from the White House. So
- 0:27Speaker 2: it turns out, look at this. This morning, he banned
- 0:29Speaker 2: them from the White House. That's interesting. Well, what's the
- 0:33Speaker 2: judge going to do about it? We'll see. This will
- 0:35Speaker 2: get interesting. Let's take some calls. Let's go to Stephen
- 0:39Speaker 2: from Glendale. Stephen, how are you doing?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Okay, sir. I'm a first-time caller, but I've always been
- 0:47Speaker 3: listening to you or Rush Lombard. Very good. But the
- 0:52Speaker 3: thing is.
- 0:56Speaker 3: The reason why they're not closing the manhole covers is
- 1:01Speaker 3: because they're looking for a hit. And all these people
- 1:06Speaker 3: that are going into the manhole covers, they catch them,
- 1:10Speaker 3: they let them go. Well, what's the worst that can
- 1:13Speaker 3: happen to them?
- 1:14Speaker 2: I love how you make up these explanations. You just
- 1:16Speaker 2: make up this is why they're doing it. That's it.
- 1:20Speaker 2: All right. It's official. It's come from Stephen. That's the reason.
- 1:24Speaker 2: All right, Stephen. Thanks for calling. What he's talking about,
- 1:29Speaker 2: the lowest level of criminals, they open up a manhole cover.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Those things on the street. First of all, I don't
- 1:35Speaker 2: even know how strong you have to be to open
- 1:37Speaker 2: those manhole covers. But they open them up, and three
- 1:41Speaker 2: or four of them go down there, and they go
- 1:43Speaker 2: through the sewers. And what they're doing is they're looking
- 1:46Speaker 2: for stuff down there because, believe it or not, things
- 1:49Speaker 2: fall through those sewer grates, and they're down there. They
- 1:52Speaker 2: find bracelets. They find rings. They found iPhones. I mean,
- 1:55Speaker 2: you got to hunt through a lot of crap to
- 2:01Speaker 2: find this stuff, but that's what they do. And they're
- 2:03Speaker 2: down there going for blocks and blocks in the sewers,
- 2:06Speaker 2: picking up stuff. And they come up with these bags
- 2:09Speaker 2: filled with this stuff. And you obviously got to wash
- 2:13Speaker 2: it a million times. And I guess they resell this
- 2:15Speaker 2: stuff or hawk it. But the police don't seem to
- 2:20Speaker 2: be doing much about it. Now, There are some people saying,
- 2:23Speaker 2: because yesterday they were caught going down a manhole cover
- 2:28Speaker 2: right next to Netanyahu's hotel, the Regency. And there are
- 2:32Speaker 2: some people in law enforcement saying, you know what, they
- 2:35Speaker 2: should grab these guys as they come out of the
- 2:37Speaker 2: manhole cover and have the anti-terrorism task force interrogate them.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I mean, they're just low-level criminals working for gangs, but
- 2:46Speaker 2: Somebody should look at that aspect of it before they
- 2:48Speaker 2: just let him go next time. Let's go to Don
- 2:50Speaker 2: in Long Island. Don, how are you doing?
- 2:52Speaker 4: Hey, how are you doing, Mark? Great. I was wondering,
- 2:56Speaker 4: have you heard those weird stories about the Carnegie Deli,
- 2:59Speaker 4: about the five people that got shot above the Carnegie?
- 3:05Speaker 2: I think there was one shooting once, and it has
- 3:07Speaker 2: nothing to do with the Carnegie Deli whatsoever.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Well, I know they had nothing to do with it.
- 3:11Speaker 2: The Carnegie used to be in a building that had
- 3:14Speaker 2: apartments on some of the floors, and there was something
- 3:16Speaker 2: going on in one of the apartments.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Five people got shot.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I'm not sure, but I don't think it was five people.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I think it was one. But it was something.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Look online. I got a story.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Okay, but it has nothing to do with the Carnegie Deli.
- 3:31Speaker 2: No connection to the Carnegie.
- 3:32Speaker 4: In any way. Did you know the co-owner, Sandy Levine?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Well, Sandy Levine came later. The real owners were Milton Parker.
- 3:41Speaker 2: And Leo Steiner, of course, legendary Leo Steiner. Milton Parker
- 3:44Speaker 2: was the owner. And then the daughter of Milton Parker
- 3:47Speaker 2: at one point married this guy, Sandy Levine. So he
- 3:50Speaker 2: wasn't really a co-owner. He just married the daughter. And
- 3:53Speaker 2: he was a terrible guy.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Did you hear the story with him?
- 3:55Speaker 2: Terrible guy. He's dead now. And she'll be the first
- 3:59Speaker 2: to tell you he was a terrible guy. He was
- 4:00Speaker 2: going out with the waitress there. He was going out
- 4:02Speaker 2: with the waitress. He was giving away the recipes. He
- 4:05Speaker 2: was a terrible guy. Exactly, yeah. Yeah, awful guy. He's
- 4:08Speaker 2: dead now.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I figured you'd know that. You're Mr. New York after all.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Did you get a sandwich named after you there?
- 4:13Speaker 2: I used to have one named after me. The new version,
- 4:16Speaker 2: in the old days, they had sandwiches named after people.
- 4:19Speaker 2: They don't really do that now. I think there's only one,
- 4:21Speaker 2: the Broadway Daniel Rose. But somewhere in my picture's on
- 4:24Speaker 2: the wall. You've got to go through 8,000 pictures.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I've got to check it out, one of these days.
- 4:30Speaker 4: I haven't been there in years.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Well, it's open to the public. You can just walk
- 4:34Speaker 2: in any time.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely. I'm going to hit it.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I got to check it out.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Go in there.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It's open. Go take a look. Try the cheesecake. It
- 4:43Speaker 2: is phenomenal. And of course, the legendary pastrami on rye.
- 4:48Speaker 2: It's reopened now. Marion Harper, daughter of Milton Parker. Her
- 4:53Speaker 2: daughter is Sari Harper. She's now running the place. It's phenomenal.
- 4:58Speaker 2: The only thing missing. In fact, this is a new location.
- 5:01Speaker 2: It's a block away. It's where the stage jelly was.
- 5:04Speaker 2: It's got windows. It's bright and light. It's actually a
- 5:07Speaker 2: better location. The only problem is they don't have the
- 5:11Speaker 2: old grumpy old waiters. You know, those big heavy old waiters.
- 5:15Speaker 2: They're all named Herb. And they go, what do you want?
- 5:17Speaker 2: What do you want? Whatever you'd order. You'd order 6,000 things.
- 5:19Speaker 4: What else?
- 5:20Speaker 2: What else? Now they're all young with nice personalities. So
- 5:25Speaker 2: that part is missing. But hey, when we come back,
- 5:28Speaker 2: the hunt for Steve Moore. We'll see if we can
- 5:30Speaker 2: find Steve Moore. I think he'll be with us next.
- 5:33Speaker 2: on 710WOR. Let's get the latest news. Here's Daria Alden.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I'm not letting you off the hook that easy. What
- 5:39Speaker 1: was on that sandwich?
- 5:40Speaker 2: Pastrami on rye.
- 5:42Speaker 1: That was named after you?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Oh, the one named after me?
- 5:44Speaker 1: I was going to say, that's every sandwich there.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I got to be honest. I don't remember. You know,
- 5:48Speaker 2: every time they name a sandwich after you, it's never
- 5:50Speaker 2: anything you'd actually eat.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I was going to say I would order it. I'd
- 5:55Speaker 1: ask for it next time I go there.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I was in a restaurant in Garden City once. They
- 5:58Speaker 2: had the Nelson DeMille sandwich. It was the worst thing.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I called them up. I said, Do you actually eat this?
- 6:02Speaker 2: He goes, what? That's what they named it. Anyway, well,
- 6:05Speaker 2: let's get to the news.
