- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, Luna is here with me. Luna: Hey hey! And I'm so ready for today's episode. We've been buying everything from maps to backpacks, so I wonder what's next. Lucas: Today we're doing something super practical. We're going to the grocery store. You know, the everyday errand that you can't avoid. Luna: Oh, that's perfect! I always need to pick up a few things, and I'd love to do it in Swedish. Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with the very first thing you need when you walk in. A shopping cart, or a basket. In Swedish, a cart is en kundvagn. Luna: En kundvagn. That's a mouthful. Kundvagn. Lucas: You've got it. And to say you need one, you say Jag behöver en kundvagn. Jag behöver en kundvagn. Luna: Jag behöver en kundvagn. I need a shopping cart. So when I walk in, I can say that. Lucas: Exactly. Let's pretend we're at the store. You walk in, you see the carts, and you say Jag behöver en kundvagn. Luna: Jag behöver en kundvagn. Okay, I think I've got that. What if I can't find the milk? That's a classic. Lucas: Ah, the milk. That's a good one. To ask where the milk is, you say Var finns mjölken? Var finns mjölken? Luna: Var finns mjölken? Where is the milk? That's so useful. But what's the answer? Like, where would it be? Lucas: Usually, the milk is in the refrigerated section. In Swedish, that's kyldisken. So you might hear Den är i kyldisken. Den är i kyldisken. Luna: Den är i kyldisken. So if I ask Var finns mjölken? and someone says Den är i kyldisken, I know it's in the fridge area. Lucas: Perfect. See, that's a whole mini-conversation already. Let's practice that exchange. You ask, I answer. Luna: Okay. Var finns mjölken? Lucas: Den är i kyldisken. Luna: Den är i kyldisken. Got it. Now what if I can't find anything, not just milk? Like, I'm lost in the store. Lucas: Then you ask for help. Kan du hjälpa mig? Kan du hjälpa mig? That means 'Can you help me?' Luna: Kan du hjälpa mig? That's a good one to have. I'm sure I'll use that all the time. Lucas: And when someone helps you, you say Tack för hjälpen. Tack för hjälpen. That's 'Thanks for the help.' Luna: Tack för hjälpen. So I can ask for help and then thank them. This is like a whole trip to the store. Lucas: Exactly. Let's put it all together in a little scene. Imagine you're at the store. You grab a cart… Luna: Jag behöver en kundvagn. Lucas: Then you realize you don't know where the milk is. You see a store employee… Luna: Ursäkta, var finns mjölken? Lucas: The employee says, Den är i kyldisken. Easy. Luna: And if I still can't find it? Kan du hjälpa mig? Lucas: Sure, they point you to the fridge, and you say Tack för hjälpen. Luna: That's a whole shopping trip in Swedish. I love it. Lucas: It's really the essentials. And you're already doing great. Let's do a quick review. Say each phrase with me. Jag behöver en kundvagn. Luna: Jag behöver en kundvagn. Lucas: Var finns mjölken? Luna: Var finns mjölken? Lucas: Den är i kyldisken. Luna: Den är i kyldisken. Lucas: Kan du hjälpa mig? Luna: Kan du hjälpa mig? Lucas: Tack för hjälpen. Luna: Tack för hjälpen. Lucas: See? You've got them all. Now, if you found today's episode useful, and you want to keep learning with us, you can support the show. Luna: Var finns mjölken? Or maybe I just go get it. Lucas: Exactly. That's one more time you can use it. So, today we learned how to get a cart, ask for the milk, understand where it is, ask for help, and say thanks. That's a solid foundation for any grocery run. Luna: And I feel so much more confident now. I might even try to use these next time I'm at the store. Lucas: Go for it. Practice makes perfect. And remember, we're here every day with a new episode.
