- 0:00Speaker 1: I don't watch the news.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It's one more thing. I'm strong and getty, one more thing.
- 0:08Speaker 2: So we had our called a sack of barbecue, which
- 0:12Speaker 2: I guess they have every year on my cul De Sack.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I've only been there a year, so it's my first one,
- 0:18Speaker 2: and I was that's nice though.
- 0:20Speaker 1: That's a very traditional American thing to do.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It is awesome, It is fantastic. I wish I didn't
- 0:25Speaker 2: dread those sorts of things because I'm always happy when
- 0:27Speaker 2: I go. I'll talk about that in a second. First,
- 0:30Speaker 2: I want to get this on. I was just I
- 0:34Speaker 2: got fed this on my Instagram feed for some reason
- 0:38Speaker 2: and I clicked on it. We've played clips from this
- 0:40Speaker 2: for years, but I hadn't seen the whole thing in
- 0:43Speaker 2: a very very long time. Just wanted to get it
- 0:45Speaker 2: back on in case you haven't heard it. It's very charming.
- 0:47Speaker 2: It's a little kid. He's at a county fair and
- 0:51Speaker 2: it's just your typical local news interviewing kids on the
- 0:55Speaker 2: midway and they stick a microphone in the face of
- 0:58Speaker 2: this kid and ask him about a ride, and it's
- 1:00Speaker 2: it's very charming.
- 1:04Speaker 1: What did you think about the ride? It's great.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You're probably I've never been alive television before.
- 1:12Speaker 1: But approbably sometimes I don't watch the I don't watch
- 1:17Speaker 1: the news because I'm a kid and a prol Every
- 1:20Speaker 1: time grandfather just gives me your romote. After you watch
- 1:24Speaker 1: the power Ball, tell me about the ride. What do
- 1:28Speaker 1: you think about the ride? Was great?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Why? Because apparently you're spinning around and the prole every
- 1:35Speaker 2: time you get dizzy, so your studs get dizzy.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And I've never ever been a live television I never
- 1:46Speaker 2: ever be all live television. You're excited? Yeah, and apparently
- 1:50Speaker 2: I already went down to super slide and I went
- 1:53Speaker 2: down watl scared half to death.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I just streak out what I need.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Oh, that is so freaking cute that it really is.
- 2:06Speaker 2: We have that video on our website Armstrong and Geeddy
- 2:08Speaker 2: dot com because of.
- 2:09Speaker 1: The currently kid ten years ago.
- 2:12Speaker 2: The video is good too. I hope he isn't something.
- 2:15Speaker 2: He isn't something horrific now is he?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Don't cant him?
- 2:18Speaker 2: I don't want to know that he's a grown up.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Yeah, being cute ten years ago is not an excuse
- 2:26Speaker 1: for everybody to dig into your life.
- 2:28Speaker 2: No. And the great thing is she just goes to
- 2:31Speaker 2: ask his little question this, we'll kid a question about
- 2:34Speaker 2: the ride and uh and he just he takes the
- 2:37Speaker 2: microphone from her right microphone.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Well, apparently I've never been a live news before. Yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 1: I don't watch the news. Apparently you do.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Oh god, that is great. Anyway, I love kids. Kids
- 2:53Speaker 2: are so fantastic and well and the.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Way he he mimics the you know, the foe very
- 2:59Speaker 1: interested in this voice. After Grandpa watches the power ball,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I got off the slide, I get very dizzy.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So there were kids at the call the Sack barbecue.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So I get I move into this called a sack
- 3:19Speaker 2: and there's like six houses there in a little circle there,
- 3:21Speaker 2: which is how call the sacks work. And uh. One
- 3:25Speaker 2: of the neighbors shortly after we moved there came over
- 3:27Speaker 2: and introduced herself and was very interested in me and
- 3:30Speaker 2: my life and my kids and their ages and what
- 3:33Speaker 2: school they go to and everything like that. And we
- 3:36Speaker 2: ended up exchanging numbers and she always says hello. And
- 3:38Speaker 2: then I've gotten to know my very next door neighbors
- 3:41Speaker 2: who are younger. They're quite a bit younger. They're like
- 3:44Speaker 2: in their mid thirties and got two young kids. And
- 3:46Speaker 2: I really like them. And then they I got a
- 3:49Speaker 2: text from the older couple they've all been there for
- 3:52Speaker 2: decades and that they're having a we have an annual
- 3:55Speaker 2: barbecue and we'd like you to come, and they told
- 3:57Speaker 2: me what to bring and when it is and all
- 3:58Speaker 2: that sort of stuff. So and because I'm a what
- 4:05Speaker 2: do you call people who don't like to be around
- 4:06Speaker 2: other people, introvert? Introvert? Because I'm an introvert, I just
- 4:10Speaker 2: I dread those sorts of things. I wish I didn't.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I mean, there was nothing to not like about any
- 4:15Speaker 2: of these people, but it is going to be around people.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I don't know when I could just be in my house,
- 4:20Speaker 2: in my cave in the dark alone or with my kids.
- 4:24Speaker 2: But I forced myself to go because I wanted the
- 4:26Speaker 2: kids to go, because I know it's good for them
- 4:28Speaker 2: and to show that getting to know your neighbors is
- 4:31Speaker 2: a really good idea and all the benefits that come
- 4:33Speaker 2: with that and all that sort of stuff. So we went.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Food was freaking fantastic. Some of these old older people,
- 4:40Speaker 2: they look for the opportunity to bring out their recipes,
- 4:44Speaker 2: you know, because their kids are all grown and gone
- 4:45Speaker 2: and everything like that. They were like two different kinds
- 4:48Speaker 2: of homemade nochi and just all this different sort of stuff.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's fantastic.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Wow. I know.
- 4:53Speaker 2: It was so good, and my kids ended up really
- 4:58Speaker 2: really liking it, and the the old guys were talking
- 5:01Speaker 2: to my kids, and one of the old guys has
- 5:03Speaker 2: got a couple of cool cars, so my son is
- 5:05Speaker 2: super into cars, got into conversation with them, and they
- 5:07Speaker 2: just they had a really great time. And some of
- 5:09Speaker 2: the people had little kids, and there was even a
- 5:12Speaker 2: baby there, and it was just it was so flipping wholesome.
- 5:16Speaker 2: This is out of control wholesome.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah. I was at a similar gathering and what I
- 5:20Speaker 1: said to the kids was, whatever happened to jello? Why
- 5:24Speaker 1: don't you young people eat jello? It's a perfectly delicious
- 5:29Speaker 1: side dish, sometimes without fruit, sometimes with fruit, variety of colors.
- 5:36Speaker 2: And I don't have any points.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It's ground up cattles.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I don't have any point to this story other than
- 5:44Speaker 2: if you are an introvert like me, go to these things.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I've never regretted going to something like this. And then,
- 5:51Speaker 2: of course once we spent we ended up being there
- 5:54Speaker 2: for wow, like two hours, sitting around in folding chairs
- 5:59Speaker 2: in a circle with the kids playing in the middle
- 6:01Speaker 2: and all of us eating and talking. And once you've
- 6:04Speaker 2: gone and you get to know people, then you don't
- 6:06Speaker 2: your introvert is. You don't have to worry about your
- 6:08Speaker 2: introvert anymore because you know these people. They aren't people
- 6:11Speaker 2: you don't know, they're people you do know.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Yes, And then the exactly the same experience. And now
- 6:18Speaker 1: I've finally learned it to the point I say, you'll
- 6:21Speaker 1: be glad you went. You will be glad you went go,
- 6:23Speaker 1: and I do.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yeah, And I'm glad my kids had the experience because,
- 6:27Speaker 2: like I said, I want them to realize the advantage
- 6:30Speaker 2: of knowing your neighbors and all that sort of stuff.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And I've already got that with my next door neighbors.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Now I have with more of them. Are like, you know, hey,
- 6:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna be gone for the next week. Of a
- 6:37Speaker 2: moving van shows up and starts unloading everything for my house.
- 6:39Speaker 2: That's not me, you know that sort of thing, or
- 6:42Speaker 2: in the house, or the other day it was a
- 6:44Speaker 2: text my neighbor and I'm not gonna be home for
- 6:46Speaker 2: a while. Is there any chance one of your kids
- 6:47Speaker 2: could go let the dog out? I'll pay them a
- 6:49Speaker 2: little bit. You know, just that sort of stuff. It's
- 6:51Speaker 2: so handy for your neighborhood.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Now, the red jello is allegedly cherry, and it tastes
- 6:57Speaker 1: somewhat like cherry. But the green lime. Have you ever
- 7:00Speaker 1: had a lime in your mouth? It tastes nothing like lime.
- 7:03Speaker 1: It's a lie. That jello is a lie.
- 7:05Speaker 2: A couple of them ended up being listeners, which was interesting,
- 7:08Speaker 2: and uh so that was cool. I like that they
- 7:10Speaker 2: were they were happy. I was there. One guy, though,
- 7:13Speaker 2: younger guy. He was the youngest adult male there and
- 7:17Speaker 2: he's like forty two. I think like that he had
- 7:19Speaker 2: a heart attack last year, and I made the mistake
- 7:22Speaker 2: of asking me asking him about it because I couldn't
- 7:26Speaker 2: handle the story. You ever had anybody tell you their
- 7:28Speaker 2: story about a heart attack?
- 7:30Speaker 1: I have it.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Oh. I had to sit down.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I'm getting shortness of breath thinking about having heard the story,
- 7:37Speaker 1: never mind actually listening to Michael.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I can't take it. Oh, he's started telling the story
- 7:43Speaker 2: and how it unfolded over the day and everything like that.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I was getting light headed. Thanks for killing you. Why
- 7:49Speaker 2: does that happen?
- 7:50Speaker 1: I know it's it's practically universal, though, I think, oh
- 7:54Speaker 1: my god, I had somebody want you into a story
- 7:55Speaker 1: like that the other day and I had to sit
- 7:57Speaker 1: down and so funny.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But the most amazing thing at the end of it
- 8:01Speaker 2: was with modern medicine and everything they do. Total time,
- 8:04Speaker 2: he said, from when he his wife parked the car
- 8:08Speaker 2: and he walked into the er to where he was
- 8:10Speaker 2: headed home a new man was forty seven hours. Wow,
- 8:14Speaker 2: that's just modern miracles.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Man. Wow, boy got that young? That's Oh yeah, I.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Am getting a little lightheaded just thinking about the story.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I should have Oh oh, sorry I brought that up.
- 8:33Speaker 2: That's weird that a story like that can have had
- 8:35Speaker 2: an effect on you. I know, is it your brains?
- 8:38Speaker 2: Is it your brain thinking this could happen to you?
- 8:42Speaker 1: But shouldn't your brain be thinking? Okay, listen carefully to this.
- 8:46Speaker 1: This is a way to avoid Well, that's why I
- 8:47Speaker 1: ask make a good decision, right, this is important. And
- 8:50Speaker 1: oh I'm glad I heard that. No, No, instead, you
- 8:53Speaker 1: just want to faint.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Crack your head on the noki bowl. That's no good anyway.
- 8:58Speaker 1: And unlike side dishes, jello can be molded into a
- 9:03Speaker 1: series of pleasing shapes.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Oh and what's the other saying about neighbors? Which is true.
- 9:09Speaker 2: You can pick your nose, you can pick your friends,
- 9:11Speaker 2: but you can't pick your neighbors. They tell me your family. Anyway,
- 9:14Speaker 2: I'm very, very blessed. I have great neighbors, Thank God.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You can pick your nose, but you can't pick your neighbors.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And you certainly can't pick your neighbors. No, or you shouldn't,
- 9:26Speaker 1: I believe, but you certainly shouldn't. Right, make sure you
- 9:30Speaker 1: know your neighbors. Well, I had him come over to
- 9:32Speaker 1: feed my pets, and uh, well they squatted in my house.
- 9:35Speaker 1: So you're still trying to get them out.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Well, I guess that's it.
