- 0:28Gut check time. But this time we are going to
- 0:30the south, the dirty south. NFC and AFC North,
- 0:34okay? All of this and more. on the 86th episode
- 0:37of Football Junkies Podcast, okay? I am your
- 0:40host with the most, all right? I'm your chief,
- 0:42Bagroll Domics. That's right, chief, head of
- 0:45the table. Anything and everything related to
- 0:47the bag, rumors to the bag, and more, okay? I
- 0:50am your GM who currently is not on a team right
- 0:52now, but don't you worry about it, all right?
- 0:55Don't you worry about it because guess what?
- 0:57I am all these things and more, but most importantly,
- 1:00the most important thing that you must remember
- 1:02is... I am your host, Kale. You already know
- 1:05how these things are about to go. This is going
- 1:07to be another loaded episode because guess what?
- 1:09You are listening to the greatest football podcast
- 1:12that you can listen to on a week -to -week, day
- 1:15-to -day basis. So guess what? On three. One,
- 1:17two, three. Let's lock in. All right, folks,
- 1:46let's just get into the meat and potatoes of
- 1:48everything that is going on in the league right
- 1:50now. So we have a lot that's going on in the
- 1:53league, all right? But let's get into these bag
- 1:54alerts, all right? So George Kaloftis, defensive
- 1:57end for the Chiefs in, say, four -year, $88 million
- 2:01deal, $62 million guaranteed, and he'll be making
- 2:03$22 million a year. When we look at his stats
- 2:06from this past season, 35 tackles and eight sacks.
- 2:09Great deal for the Chiefs, great deal for George
- 2:12Kaloftis, okay? This doesn't break the bank.
- 2:15That doesn't put them in any financial problems
- 2:17moving forward. It also rewards a very impactful
- 2:21player that has played a very pivotal role within
- 2:23the last few Super Bowl runs that the Chiefs
- 2:26have had. You're talking about somebody that
- 2:28when Chris Jones is occupied with two and three
- 2:31tackles and tight ends and receivers and whatnot,
- 2:34guess what? George Kaloftis just comes right
- 2:36on in. He gets his pressures, he gets his sacks,
- 2:39maybe makes a forced fumble, maybe recovers a
- 2:42fumble. That's just who George Kaloftis is, all
- 2:45right? He's not going to be somebody that's going
- 2:47to be talked about like a Myles Garrett or TJ
- 2:50Watt or any of the other top -end pass rushers,
- 2:54but he is on that second to maybe third tier
- 2:57of pass rushers, okay? Now let's talk about Zach
- 3:00Tom, all right? Right tackle for the Packers
- 3:02inks a four -year $88 million deal with a max
- 3:06value, which is important, of $92 million, okay?
- 3:10He gets a $30 .2 million signing bonus, which
- 3:13is the largest signing bonus for any offensive
- 3:16lineman in NFL history, and he has $30 .2 million
- 3:20in guarantees, and he'll be making $22 million
- 3:22a year. Again, great business once again. The
- 3:25Packers value their own players and they're making
- 3:27sure that they take care of their players. Now,
- 3:30I do know that a lot of insiders have said that
- 3:33the Packers aren't done giving out extensions
- 3:35because currently right now they're talking with
- 3:37Quay Walker and I think one or two other players
- 3:40that are up for extension. So I wouldn't be surprised
- 3:43by the end of this episode, we probably get more
- 3:45breaking news of somebody else getting paid as
- 3:48well. So all in all, really good deal. For Zach
- 3:51time. All right. Now let's get into the real
- 3:53things everybody wants to talk about. Okay. And
- 3:55that is Jerry Jones. That's right. Mr. Jerry
- 3:58Jones taking a jab at both Dak Prescott and Micah
- 4:04Parsons. So training camp started with the Cowboys
- 4:06not too long ago. And of course, Jerry being
- 4:08Jerry has his, you know, little press conference
- 4:11and whatnot. And, you know, people are talking
- 4:13about the whole Micah Parsons situation and everything.
- 4:16So this is what Jerry Jones had to say. And I
- 4:18quote. I remember signing a player for the highest
- 4:21paid position in the league and he got knocked
- 4:23out two thirds of the year. So there's a lot
- 4:25of things you can think about just as the player
- 4:28does when you're thinking about committing and
- 4:30guaranteeing money, end quote. That's at that
- 4:32Prescott. This is what he said about Michael
- 4:34Parsons though, end that quote. Just because
- 4:36we signed him doesn't mean we're going to have
- 4:38him. He was hurt six games last year. Contracts
- 4:41are four, five years, okay? There's a lot of
- 4:43water under the bridge if you step out there
- 4:45and do something in the first two or three. You
- 4:48can get hit by a car, seriously. So there's a
- 4:50lot to look at over all of the years that could
- 4:53make a big difference. Have you ever heard of
- 4:56any clubs committing to players and then they
- 4:58didn't pan out after they committed to them?
- 5:00We have, end quote. But here's the kicker of
- 5:03all of this. J .J. Watt puts his two cents into
- 5:06this situation as well. And this is what he says,
- 5:09and I quote. Anytime you can publicly take a
- 5:12dig at your star quarterback and your star pass
- 5:15rusher simultaneously right before the season
- 5:17begins, you just got to take it. Nothing makes
- 5:20guys want to fight for you more than hearing
- 5:22how upset you are that they got hurt while fighting
- 5:25for you, end quote. But Micah Parsons retweeted
- 5:30this tweet. See, these are the quotes from a
- 5:34reactive instead of proactive owner. Jerry Jones
- 5:38has always been reactive when it comes to paying
- 5:41his star players. From Dak Prescott to CeeDee
- 5:44Lamb and now even Michael Parsons. Jerry Jones
- 5:48continues to get in his own way when it comes
- 5:51to negotiations. I understand that you may be
- 5:54frustrated with how much money you're giving
- 5:56out to these players. But guess what? They play
- 5:59one of the most physical sports in the entire
- 6:01world. So at some point, somebody's going to
- 6:05get hurt. someone's going to miss a few games.
- 6:09That's the business. So I don't understand why
- 6:12you're taking jabs at your star quarterback,
- 6:14at your star pass rusher, and at your star players
- 6:18as a whole. See, if the Cowboys were actually
- 6:21smart, they would have been proactive in the
- 6:23contract negotiations with Micah Parsons. I would
- 6:27have tried to get Micah Parsons to sign a deal
- 6:29right after Max Crosby signed his, because that
- 6:32was the sweet spot. But then after Miles Garrett
- 6:36and TJ White got their deals, it's over. You're
- 6:39going to have to reset the market for Micah Parsons.
- 6:42And if you don't, Micah Parsons is going to hit
- 6:46free agency next year, and he will single -handedly
- 6:49be the biggest defensive free agent since Reggie
- 6:53White. And we know that if he hits free agency,
- 6:57he may even take less just to be in a better
- 7:00situation. Would he stay in the division? Would
- 7:02he go out of the division? Because I can assure
- 7:04you right now, there's at least 10 to 15 teams
- 7:07that would be willing to sign a blank check for
- 7:10Micah Parsons. So Jerry, either you got to suck
- 7:13it up and sign Micah Parsons, or stop complaining,
- 7:17stop throwing jabs at your players, and actually
- 7:20try to win a playoff game for once. Now let's
- 7:23keep this thing going, okay? So Omar Khan finally
- 7:26speaks with the media. after all the moves that
- 7:30he's made in this offseason so far. So here's
- 7:33just a few bullet points that I took away from
- 7:35yesterday's press conference, okay? So when asked
- 7:40about the departure of Minka Fitzpatrick, this
- 7:42is what Omar Khan had to say, and I quote, I
- 7:45don't know if it was necessarily moving on from
- 7:47Minka. We had an opportunity to acquire two Pro
- 7:50Bowl players. We felt that where we are as a
- 7:53team made sense for us. We have a lot of respect
- 7:55for Minka. That's a great football player, end
- 7:58quote. When asked about Johnnie Smith and Jalen
- 8:01Ramsey and their roles and how they're going
- 8:03to be utilized on the team, this is what Omar
- 8:05Khan had to say, and I quote, Johnnie Smith and
- 8:07Jalen Ramsey both can line up in different places
- 8:10than their usual positions, and they'll see how
- 8:12it all shakes out on the field before they determine
- 8:15their exact roles, end quote. Omar Khan also
- 8:18said that he feels really good about the team
- 8:20as a whole, but wouldn't rule out making another
- 8:23move if the right opportunity came along. But
- 8:27this is what he had to say about the wide receiver
- 8:29room, and I quote, I feel really good. Obviously,
- 8:32we traded for DK. DK is going to be an impactful
- 8:34player for us. But I saw how the growth in Calvin
- 8:37Austin last year, and that was really cool to
- 8:39see. Watching Roman Wilson this offseason, it's
- 8:42been really great to see his progression and
- 8:44where he's at, and I think we would have seen
- 8:46more of it last year towards the end of last
- 8:48year. He said it, not me. If he would have had
- 8:52the opportunity to play. We acquired Robert Woods,
- 8:55a veteran leader in that room, so I feel really
- 8:57good about the position, end quote. Omar Khan
- 9:00also said that he doesn't rule out looking at
- 9:01the safety market as well. While I understand
- 9:05this trade was a really big trade, it was addition
- 9:08by subtraction because you trade away a really
- 9:11great player in Miga Fitzpatrick to bring in
- 9:13two really good players as well. I understand
- 9:16that Minkah Fitzpatrick has been playing his
- 9:18best ball and he has been making splash plays
- 9:21because everybody measures everything by splash
- 9:24and whatnot. But the fact of the matter is Minkah
- 9:27Fitzpatrick played a very important role on this
- 9:31team. And we cannot solely blame him for the
- 9:35mistakes of the defense, specifically the secondary
- 9:38over the past two years because of Minkah Fitzpatrick.
- 9:43Instead, we have to factor in coaching. We have
- 9:46to factor in that when you have someone in Cam
- 9:49Sutton who clearly was doing his own thing. Every
- 9:53single time he was on the field, it had a direct
- 9:56effect on everyone else. Not to mention, Minka
- 10:00Fitzpatrick at one point had to play a lot more
- 10:04in the box down at the line of scrimmage, where
- 10:06you know that's not where he likes to be. He
- 10:09likes to be in the backfield. He likes to roam.
- 10:12That's his role. So the fact that you were able
- 10:15to just trade away Minka Fitzpatrick like he
- 10:17was nothing, and the fact that this organization
- 10:21didn't do anything to say, you know what, Minka,
- 10:25we thank you for your efforts. We thank you for
- 10:28being the leader of that secondary. We thank
- 10:32you for being an upstanding person your entire
- 10:35tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I have gone
- 10:38through their social media pages, and I have
- 10:40not seen not one post, not one thank you Minka
- 10:45post. That's disrespectful to someone who has
- 10:48given his all to this team. Mind you, there was
- 10:52a period in time where Mingus Fitzpatrick was
- 10:55playing with essentially one arm and you just
- 10:58traded him away like it was nothing. Let me just
- 11:00read to you the stats from the past, I'll say
- 11:03three years. So in 2022, he had six picks. 2023,
- 11:08he had zero. 2024, he only had one pick. So he's
- 11:14only had a two -year slump. Okay, fine, whatever.
- 11:18But you should have tried to at least let things
- 11:21play out. If you would have made this move without
- 11:24giving up Minka Fitzpatrick and by, I don't know,
- 11:28maybe the trade deadline, Minka Fitzpatrick isn't
- 11:32back to his old self or he's not making quote
- 11:34-unquote splash plays, then move off of Minka.
- 11:38But you had to just try to give this a chance
- 11:41at least. Because this secondary would have been
- 11:45more formidable with Minka Fitzpatrick, Deshaun
- 11:49Elliott, Darius Slade, Jalen Ramsey, Jordan Porter
- 11:52Jr., Brandon Echols, Beanie Bishop, and Corey
- 11:55Trice. That's way more formidable than what we
- 11:58have right now. But again, Omar Khan emphasized
- 12:02in this press conference that he loves positional
- 12:05flexibility. Minka Fitzpatrick showed positional
- 12:08flexibility because he went from playing all
- 12:10the way in the backfield to now playing in the
- 12:13line of scrimmage to now playing in the box to
- 12:15now lining up that corner sometimes. He was flexible
- 12:18everywhere on this defense. This is the problem
- 12:21that I have with a lot of commentators, with
- 12:24a lot of journalists, with a lot of people who
- 12:25cover teams. Everybody talks about splash. If
- 12:30you're not making splash plays, then you're not
- 12:33effective. When that's not the whole kit and
- 12:36caboodle. You have to look at the player and
- 12:39the tape and everything that they put out in
- 12:41its entirety. It's not always the big hit, the
- 12:45interception, the forced fumble, the punch out,
- 12:48the touchdown, the catch, the grab, the truck.
- 12:52It's not always that. Sometimes it's just doing
- 12:54just the routine things. But we are so involved
- 12:59with... 5 and 10 and 20 second clips of splash
- 13:03plays that now it has blinded us as fans and
- 13:08as people who actually watch football and saying,
- 13:11you know what? Man, that player really ain't
- 13:13that good no more. He's not making any more splash
- 13:15plays. What happened to the splash, man? Players
- 13:17can go through things. People can go through
- 13:20a slump. Minka Fitzpatrick, okay, wasn't playing
- 13:23his best ball in two years. Okay, fine. But if
- 13:27he rebounds this year and he goes back to his
- 13:30quote unquote old self, who's complaining? Nobody.
- 13:33Because guess what? Everybody's going to be riding
- 13:35the make it this Patrick ways once again. You
- 13:39can't do that. You have to give people grace,
- 13:42especially people who have been nothing but a
- 13:45first class player for this team. From answering
- 13:50questions when they lose and win to just showing
- 13:53up. Minka Fitzpatrick was a first -class citizen
- 13:58for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I can only imagine
- 14:02how he feels with all the blood, sweat, and tears
- 14:06that he gave to the Steelers and just to be shipped
- 14:09away like it was nothing. You can even tell just
- 14:14by his posture and the way that he looks in Miami
- 14:18that he's still shaking up about this. That's
- 14:22why he still hasn't spoken to the media yet.
- 14:24Because I think he's still trying to deal with
- 14:27this entire process. But that's another story
- 14:32for another day. I want to go on my soapbox once
- 14:35again because nobody really cares about it. Because
- 14:37every time I say the things that need to be said
- 14:40about this team, I get flack for it. But let's
- 14:44get into this whole Lloyd Howell and J .C. Tretter
- 14:47situation. a couple days ago lloyd howell the
- 14:50former executive director for the nflpa resigned
- 14:53okay so uh it's a lot of twists and turns and
- 14:57uh booty cheeks and stripper poles with this
- 15:00okay so uh let's get into it so this is the statement
- 15:04from lloyd howell about his resignation And I
- 15:08quote, two years ago, I accepted the role of
- 15:10executive director of the NFLPA because I believe
- 15:13deeply in the mission of this union in the power
- 15:16of collective action to drive positive change
- 15:18for the players of America's most popular sport.
- 15:21Our members deserve a union that will fight relentlessly
- 15:24for their health, safety, financial futures,
- 15:27and long -term well -being. My priority has always
- 15:31been to lead that fight by serving this union
- 15:33with focus and dedication. It's clear that my
- 15:36leadership has become a distraction to the important
- 15:38work the NFLPA advances every day. For this reason,
- 15:42I have informed the NFLPA Executive Committee
- 15:44that I am stepping down as Executive Director
- 15:47of the NFLPA and Chairman of the Board of the
- 15:49NFL Players effective immediately. I hope this
- 15:53will allow the NFLPA to maintain its focus on
- 15:56its players' members ahead of the upcoming season.
- 15:58I am proud of what we've been able to accomplish
- 16:01at the NFLPA over the past two years. I will
- 16:03be rooting for the players from the sidelines
- 16:05as loud as ever, and I know the NFLPA will continue
- 16:09to ensure that players remain firmly at the center
- 16:12of football's future, end quote. But this is
- 16:15what J .C. Tretter had to say, and I quote, I'm
- 16:17not resigning because what I've been accused
- 16:19of is true. I'm not resigning in disgrace. I'm
- 16:22resigning because this has gone too far for me
- 16:24and my family, and I've sucked it up for six
- 16:26weeks. And I feel like I've been kind of left
- 16:28in the wind taking shots for the best of the
- 16:31organization. I got to the point this morning
- 16:33where I woke up and I realized like I'm going
- 16:35too deep dying on this fucking sword forever.
- 16:39I'll never ever be able to do what's best for
- 16:41me. And I will always pick what's best for the
- 16:44organization. And in the end, what's the organization
- 16:47done for me? Like nothing. I've been a bullet
- 16:50shield for six weeks for them where everything
- 16:52that's been controversial, it all just dumps
- 16:55down on me. And I've had nothing to fucking do
- 16:58with it. And that's when I was like, I'm done
- 17:00taking bullets for the organization on stuff
- 17:03I wasn't a part of and did not do, end quote.
- 17:06What a fiery response by J .C. Treader. Oh, it's
- 17:09just so ground shaking, just so pivotal with
- 17:12the word choice that he used. Amazing. Hand clap
- 17:16for J .C. Treader. No, let's just stop, okay?
- 17:19J .C. Treader, your hand was caught in the cookie
- 17:22jar. You orchestrated a lot of this conundrum
- 17:27that the NFLPA is now going to have to clean
- 17:29up because you decided to go around the entire
- 17:33process of hiring the next executive director
- 17:36for the NFLPA. And by doing so, you covered your
- 17:41own tracks by making sure that you bring in somebody
- 17:44that's going to put you in position of power
- 17:47as well by creating a position that was never
- 17:51created. prior to this point. And so now when
- 17:55the kitchen gets really hot and now everything
- 17:58is coming out about this whole collusion case
- 18:00and how you felt about it and your personal input
- 18:02and everything that you've said within the past
- 18:04few years, oh, you can't take it. Oh, I'm just
- 18:08tired of being the shield. Oh, I don't know what's
- 18:11going on anymore. I didn't do anything wrong.
- 18:14Yes, you did. Yes, you did. You hired somebody
- 18:19that for one, is a part -time consultant for
- 18:23a firm that is trying to acquire minority stakes
- 18:27in NFL teams, who was also a part of one of the
- 18:30largest scandals in U .S. history with Booz Allen,
- 18:34who also was making it rain at Magic City and
- 18:39at the world's biggest strip club in Florida.
- 18:42That's your guy. That's the person that you were
- 18:46tied to. So you have to fall on the sword just
- 18:50as much as he does. So you got to take them bullets
- 18:53and you're going to continue to take them bullets
- 18:56because you know why? This needed to come out.
- 18:59This needed to be done because this collusion
- 19:02case showed that the current structure of the
- 19:05NFLPA is not for the players, but instead for
- 19:08the owners and the league who continue. to find
- 19:12a way to limit guarantees for players. Players
- 19:15who, by the way, risk their bodies for this sport.
- 19:19So before we go any further, shout out to Pablo
- 19:21Torre. Shout out. to Pro Football Talk for coming
- 19:25together and putting out this collusion case
- 19:27story. Because you know what? It opened up the
- 19:29floodgates to what's going on with the NFLPA.
- 19:33And also shout out to Dan Venetta Jr. and Kaylin
- 19:36Cather from ESPN as well. Because you know why?
- 19:39If it wasn't for you guys working together to
- 19:41figure out exactly what's going on with the NFLPA,
- 19:45we would have never known anything about this.
- 19:47And I'm so glad. that Pablo Torre was the first
- 19:51person to kick down the door with this case.
- 19:53Now let's get to Lloyd. Not Lloyd Howell, but
- 19:57Lloyd, okay? Lloyd Howell, according to an article
- 20:02by Dan Mineta Jr. and Kalen Cather of ESPN, he
- 20:05liked to go to the strip club. He liked to see
- 20:08Scripless. So Lloyd Howell charged the union
- 20:11for two visits to a strip club, including a $738
- 20:15.82 car service. Howe was picked up at Fort Lauderdale
- 20:20International Airport on November 2nd of 2023
- 20:23at 1026. Now, before we go any further, let me
- 20:27just stop right here. They timestamped when you
- 20:30got picked up from the airport. Yo, this is sick.
- 20:36Lloyd, you are a sick man, okay? Sick man. Well,
- 20:41but let's keep on going, okay? A union finance
- 20:44worker discovered that Hal went to Tootsie's
- 20:47Cabaret, the world's largest strip club in Florida.
- 20:53Imagine you're somebody, you're one of the financial
- 20:58workers for the NFLPA. You're checking all the,
- 21:00you know, finance and whatnot. You're checking
- 21:02out. Wait, Tootsie's? Tootsie's Cabaret? Wait
- 21:06a minute. Let's go on here. Let's see what's
- 21:10going on. Tootsie's Cabaret. Tootsie's Cabaret.
- 21:13World's largest strip club? What? Yo, I would
- 21:19be... This is hilarious. Listen, I don't care
- 21:22what anyone says. This story is hilarious. But
- 21:26it gets even worse, okay? During this year's
- 21:29NFLPA Summit meeting on February 21st... Howell
- 21:33tagged along with Apple with employees to Magic
- 21:37City and accumulated $2 ,426 in charters, including
- 21:43cash withdrawal that ranged from $200 to $525
- 21:48from the club ATM and used two, not one, but
- 21:54two VIP rooms. Yo. Howell was giving it up. He
- 22:03was telling his life story. Yeah. Where's Shanisha?
- 22:09Where's Shanisha? I thought somebody told me
- 22:12she was performing tonight. Meet me in the VIP
- 22:16room. 2 ,426. Brother, that is somebody's rent.
- 22:26That is somebody's card note that you just spent
- 22:29at Magic City. Ain't no way. Ain't no way. See,
- 22:34if it was maybe about $200, maybe $300, okay,
- 22:36fine. No problem with that. But for you to accumulate
- 22:39that much money in charges, yo, you like them
- 22:44scribbles, okay? But here's the reason for this
- 22:48expense. And I quote, player engagement event
- 22:53to support and grow our union. End quote. Now
- 22:59you know damn well this ain't for no player engagement
- 23:02event. Because any player can go to a strip club
- 23:05by themself. What does it look like when you
- 23:08go into the club? All right, ladies, we got Lloyd
- 23:11Howell and the NFLPA in the building. That's
- 23:13right. Show them a good time, not a long time.
- 23:16Give it up for Lloyd Howell and the NFLPA. We
- 23:19want to thank them for coming tonight to Tootsie's
- 23:22Cabaret. No, man, you can't do that. You just
- 23:26cannot do that. Listen, imagine you go to Tootsie's
- 23:30one night and you see half the league in there.
- 23:33On top of the NFL Players Association as well
- 23:36in there. Yo, it's going to be sick. Oh, my God.
- 23:42But it gets even worse. How instructed one of
- 23:46the employees that he tagged along with to file
- 23:48the expense reports. He was like, nah, bro, that
- 23:53can't show up on my financial reports. That got
- 23:56to show up on your financial reports. I only
- 23:58tagged along with you. I wasn't the one leading
- 24:01the charge. But then he also goes on to say this.
- 24:04An employee noted that on March 23rd, that report,
- 24:08$736 was the final amount that he was charged
- 24:14to close the tab for both secluded sections for
- 24:20our player members. This included food, alcohol
- 24:24and drinks, fees, taxes, and gratuity. So you
- 24:28was probably getting some wings, had a nice little
- 24:30drink with you. You know, your favorite stripper
- 24:33is dancing to your favorite song in the VIP room.
- 24:35Probably telling them your life story, what's
- 24:37going on at home with your wife and kids and
- 24:39whatnot. Probably telling them what's going on
- 24:41at work and everything. Oh my God, this is hilarious.
- 24:46Give it up for Lloyd. Lloyd Howes in the building.
- 24:49Lloyd Howes in the building. Lloyd Howes in the
- 24:51building, ladies. That's right. Show him a good
- 24:53time and not a long time. I just have one question.
- 24:57Did Loyal Howell get the Lou Williams special?
- 25:02Imagine you and your boys on a Friday night.
- 25:04Y 'all say, you know what? Let's go to Magic
- 25:05City, man. You guys go to Magic City, you know.
- 25:09It's some beautiful women around you and everything.
- 25:12It's a good time. Good vibes. Good energy and
- 25:14whatnot. Next thing you know, you see about five
- 25:18or six people in suits. And you see one dude,
- 25:21a bald -headed dude with some glasses. And one
- 25:25of your friends is like, wait a minute. Ain't
- 25:27that Lloyd Howell? Yeah, that is Lloyd Howell.
- 25:31That's Lloyd Howell from the NFL Players Association.
- 25:34Oh, wait, he's going to the VIP room. Yo, your
- 25:37mind's going to be blown. What is this? This
- 25:40is like a soap opera, but on steroids. Like,
- 25:46imagine this. This is the Days of Our Lives NFL
- 25:49PA Edition starring Lloyd Howell Jr. of the NFL
- 25:53Players Association featuring... J .C. Treader.
- 25:57Like, what are we? This is hilarious. Listen,
- 26:00if y 'all don't think it's funny, that's perfectly
- 26:02fine. I don't care, but this is hilarious, okay?
- 26:04Now, let's get into something a little bit more
- 26:07serious. I know we're going to have to talk about
- 26:09politics for just a little bit. Once we talk
- 26:11about politics, then we can move forward and
- 26:13talk about everything else, okay? I know. Everybody
- 26:15doesn't want to talk about it. You could skip
- 26:17this part. It's perfectly fine. I'm not going
- 26:18to blame you for it. So let's just get into it.
- 26:20Let's get it over with. So the president released
- 26:22this statement on his platform, and I quote,
- 26:25The Washington whatever's should immediately
- 26:27change their name back to the Washington Redskins
- 26:29football team. There is a big clamoring for this.
- 26:32Likewise, the Cleveland Indians, one of the six
- 26:34original baseball teams with a storied past,
- 26:36our great Indian people in massive numbers want
- 26:39this to happen. This is what he said. It's not
- 26:41what I said. Their heritage and prestige is systematically
- 26:44being taken away from them. Times are different
- 26:47now than they were three or four years ago. We
- 26:49are a country of passion and common sense. Owners,
- 26:52get it done. But then he backtracks what he said,
- 26:55and then he says this. My statement on the Washington
- 26:57Redskins has totally blown up, but only in a
- 27:00very positive way. I may put a restriction on
- 27:02them that if they don't change the name back
- 27:04to the original Washington Redskins and get rid
- 27:06of this ridiculous moniker, Washington Commanders,
- 27:09I won't make a deal for them to build a stadium
- 27:11in Washington. The team would be so much more
- 27:14valuable, and the deal would be more exciting
- 27:16for everyone. Cleveland should do the same with
- 27:18the Cleveland Indians. The owner of the Cleveland
- 27:21baseball team, Matt Dolan, who is very political,
- 27:23has lost three elections in a row because of
- 27:25that ridiculous name change. What he doesn't
- 27:28understand is that if he changed the name back
- 27:30to the Cleveland Indians, he might actually win
- 27:33an election. Indians are being treated very unfairly.
- 27:36Make Indians great again. Before we get into
- 27:39how I feel about this, let's get into everything
- 27:42else that comes with this, alright? So this is
- 27:44what Jacqueline D. Leon, senior staff attorney
- 27:47for the Native American Rights Fund, had to say
- 27:49about this, and I quote, No Native American child
- 27:52should have to sit through a pep rally or in
- 27:54a stadium where the culture is being mocked,
- 27:56end quote. Now, Savannah Romero, a member of
- 27:59the Eastern Shusho Nation and co -founder and
- 28:02deputy director of the Black Liberation Indigenous
- 28:04Sovereignty Collective, had this to say, and
- 28:08I quote, we are language keepers land protectors
- 28:10survivors of attempted genocide and a part of
- 28:13sovereign nations to equate native people with
- 28:16their cartoonish mascots alongside animals is
- 28:19a gross and ongoing tactic of dehumanization
- 28:22end quote now this is what somebody else had
- 28:24to say this comes from beth wright a member of
- 28:28the pobello of lagana my apologies once if i'm
- 28:32butchering the name And I quote, Native people
- 28:35are still working to revitalize what the United
- 28:37States tried to erase. Native mascots work directly
- 28:41against these efforts by perpetuating false historical
- 28:45narratives about Native people and false depictions
- 28:48of who Native people are today, end quote. In
- 28:512013, the Leadership Conference on Civil and
- 28:54Human Rights approved a resolution calling for
- 28:56the owners of the Washington Redskins at that
- 28:58time, Dan Schneider and company, to change its
- 29:01name. This resolution also called for the elimination
- 29:04of names and mascots that, and I quote, promote
- 29:08negative stereotypes and connotations or that
- 29:10trivialize Native American cultures, end quote.
- 29:13As a DMV native and somebody that experienced
- 29:16all of this, it was a lot of tension. You're
- 29:20talking about a lot of opinions and, you know,
- 29:23you had this side that said this and that side
- 29:25that said that. And it was a lot to take in at
- 29:28that time. It was a very sensitive topic. to
- 29:31talk about especially in public and um this is
- 29:34just my personal opinion you don't have to agree
- 29:37with it you don't have to like it you can skip
- 29:39this part if you want i have no problem with
- 29:41that keep the name where it is do not try to
- 29:46change it back to the redskins the redskins is
- 29:51a derogatory name to me i believe that it's a
- 29:55slur and it just has no need to be on a team
- 30:00this team within the last three years has undergone
- 30:04a lot of change and um changing it back to the
- 30:08redskins would erase all the progress that they've
- 30:10made so far they are trying to erase dan schneider
- 30:15and the the cloud that was over this team for
- 30:18all of those years they're trying to remove that
- 30:21and by going backwards and changing it back to
- 30:24their original name it's not worth it From a
- 30:28public standpoint, it's not worth from a financial
- 30:30standpoint. It's not worth it in any way that
- 30:33you look at this. There were even times where
- 30:36commentators who were covering any game that
- 30:40the Washington football team was, you know, was
- 30:43playing. They would not say Redskin. They would
- 30:46just say the Washington team or they would just
- 30:48say Washington because of just because of how
- 30:52it sounded. And just everything that was tied
- 30:55to it. If you don't know what a red skin is,
- 30:58you go look it up and you do the research yourself.
- 31:01Because this is just something that you just
- 31:04can't do no more. And I understand, you know,
- 31:07a lot of people say, well, society now is too
- 31:10woke and everybody's too sensitive and it's always
- 31:13this and it's always that. It's changed this
- 31:15and changed that. Okay, fine. That's your opinion.
- 31:18I have no problem with that, okay? But when it
- 31:20comes to depiction of people, black and brown
- 31:22people, That's where we draw a line. For the
- 31:25longest time, we have seen a lot of teams, either
- 31:29intentionally or unintentionally, use Native
- 31:32Americans, Black people, and other indigenous
- 31:35people in a cartoonish and degrateful type of
- 31:39way. And by doing so, you now are in a place
- 31:44in society where people can now project how they
- 31:47feel about this. It's no longer just a small
- 31:51little rally in front of the stadium and then,
- 31:53you know, it just dissipates and whatnot. No,
- 31:55you have social media. You have the Internet.
- 31:58Now you have various organizations that now have
- 32:00influence and now have connections with people
- 32:03who have influence that can project how they
- 32:06feel about these things. But now that we've talked
- 32:08about this, let's get into the opinion of what
- 32:11said person said on what should happen. Respectfully,
- 32:15Mr. President, stay out of this. You have far
- 32:18more pressing things to worry about and far more
- 32:21pressing things that you need to address than
- 32:25the name of a football team and the name of a
- 32:29baseball team. Even though we don't talk about
- 32:30baseball, we still have to add them in as well.
- 32:33People are fine with where both teams' names
- 32:36are and their logos and merch and everything
- 32:40else. So why would you want them to go backwards?
- 32:45and to erode all the progress that they've made
- 32:48so far and then for you to say hey if you guys
- 32:52don't appease me i'm going to personally intervene
- 32:57with this deal and make sure that it doesn't
- 33:00happen and we have seen the same tactic time
- 33:04again during this administration this bullying
- 33:08tactic to say hey we are going to strong -arm
- 33:11you to appease us And it's time out for it. Josh
- 33:16Harris, if I were you, I would not appease to
- 33:20this. I would not think about this. I would even
- 33:22get an inkling of possibly changing the name.
- 33:26You have made so much progress in such a small
- 33:30amount of time. Do not erode that to appease
- 33:33a person who is only focused on what benefits
- 33:38him in his pockets. but instead continuing to
- 33:42grow this team and to regain the trust and the
- 33:46love that this fan base has been looking to give
- 33:49back to this team for the past 20 -something
- 33:51years. Now, I will say this, and I've been thinking
- 33:56about this and I thought about this prior to
- 33:58me recording. If you are the Native American
- 34:01community as a whole, not just one specific tribe,
- 34:05but as a whole, I think you could possibly be
- 34:08open to the idea of possibly reopening that door
- 34:14only, and I mean only, if they follow your parameters.
- 34:20And I feel like personally, I think the main
- 34:23parameters that could possibly work is that one,
- 34:27the Native American people as a whole come together
- 34:31and they create their own logo that the team
- 34:35will use to represent them. No longer would you
- 34:39use the chief. And if they do choose the old
- 34:42logo, let them make that decision. Not people
- 34:46who are not from the Native American community.
- 34:50As well as a percentage of revenue that comes
- 34:55from the team should go directly to the Native
- 34:58Americans. Every single tribe should get a piece
- 35:02of that revenue. Every t -shirt, every hat, every
- 35:07hoodie, every coffee mug, every ticket, every
- 35:10TV deal, a portion of that should go back to
- 35:13the Native American community as a way of saying,
- 35:16you know what, we appreciate you for allowing
- 35:19us to represent you guys. That is the only way
- 35:23that this could work. And another thing, for
- 35:26you to say that you would personally intervene
- 35:28with this, It's just childish. It's just a bullying
- 35:33tactic. But I will say this. If your delivery
- 35:36was better, instead of saying, if you don't do
- 35:39this, then I'm going to do this. Instead of saying,
- 35:42hey, let me be the neutral party. Let's come
- 35:47together. Let's put our heads together. Let's
- 35:49find some common ground and let's get some resolution
- 35:52with this matter. Because I do believe that the
- 35:55commanders will go back to Washington. The problem
- 35:58is there's a lot of red tape when it comes to
- 36:01the stadium and the process of building the stadium
- 36:03and everything that comes with it. And I can
- 36:05only say this because I live in the area and
- 36:08I've been tracking this story this entire time.
- 36:11It's been a very red tape type of issue because
- 36:15there was a period in time where there was just
- 36:18going to be negotiations between the DC government
- 36:20and the commanders. But now that time is up.
- 36:24Now, Maryland and Virginia, as well as D .C.,
- 36:27can all be involved in negotiations with the
- 36:30commanders. And all three of the regions are
- 36:33trying to find a way to bring the commanders
- 36:36to their respective areas. And so here's the
- 36:40part where things get a little bit weird. OK.
- 36:44The D .C. government, it's a little bit confusing
- 36:48because you have some people that say, oh, yes,
- 36:51I've talked to this person with the commanders.
- 36:53I've talked to that person with that commanders.
- 36:55Then you have, you know, the mayor that says
- 36:57I have you know, I've had communications with
- 36:59this person, that person. It's a lot of. miscommunication
- 37:03and a lot of backbiting and a lot of, you know,
- 37:06he said, she said, I'm going to go behind you
- 37:09and talk to this person. I'm going to go behind
- 37:11you and have this secret lunch meeting or whatever.
- 37:14It's a lot of that. Just get this thing done
- 37:17so we can just move forward. Because right now,
- 37:21the longer that this draws out, the better the
- 37:24chance that Maryland or Virginia could possibly
- 37:28have a chance. to bring the commanders to their
- 37:31respective areas. And I just don't think that's
- 37:34possible. Even now, where the commanders are,
- 37:37you can't say the Washington commanders, because
- 37:40why? Technically speaking, the stadium is not
- 37:43located in D .C. It's not even near D .C. It
- 37:47technically is in Maryland. So I don't know what
- 37:50they have to do to get this done, but please,
- 37:54for the love of God, please get this done. And
- 37:57please do not change the name under any circumstance.
- 38:00I don't care what type of tactics he used, what
- 38:04type of threats that he throws at the ownership
- 38:07of the commanders. Do not give in. Stay true.
- 38:10Stay firm. They will forever be the Washington
- 38:13Commanders. Granted, I understand that the legacy
- 38:15of this team is tied to the Redskins and whatnot,
- 38:18but sometimes you just need a breath of fresh
- 38:21air. And that's what the commanders bring. Now
- 38:24that we're done with the politics. Let's go back
- 38:27to football, please, because I am so uncomfortable
- 38:29with this. OK, you guys don't realize how much
- 38:32I don't like talking about politics, especially
- 38:34on a public platform. I do not like talking about
- 38:37politics. I try to stay away from politics as
- 38:40best as I possibly can. But any time that it
- 38:43ties into football, I try to be. as lenient as
- 38:46I possibly can. And I try not to, you know, be
- 38:50radical or too conservative or be offensive to
- 38:54any sides. No, I just want to try to be as neutral
- 38:56as I possibly can when it comes to any of these
- 38:59types of topics, especially for something like
- 39:02this. Let's get into something more important,
- 39:05and that is second round picks getting fully
- 39:07guaranteed contracts. Pardon the interruption,
- 39:09but this is your GM, your bag road dominance
- 39:12here to talk about rss .com. All right. So if

- 40:32Now back to the good stuff. So for the past few
- 40:35days, prior to a majority of teams reporting
- 40:37to training camp, we saw an influx of second
- 40:40round picks getting signed. So some of them got
- 40:43fully guaranteed, some of them didn't get fully
- 40:45guaranteed, some of them got... a little bit
- 40:47more guarantees towards their third and fourth
- 40:49year of the contract. It all depends, but we're
- 40:52going to go over all of them. All right, so let's
- 40:55just start. So Alfred Collins with the 49ers,
- 40:57he inked a four -year $10 .3 million deal with
- 41:00over $9 million in guarantees. Donovan Izaraku
- 41:03for the Cowboys, he got $8 .1 million guarantee.
- 41:07JT Tumalau for the Colts, it was only just reported
- 41:11as a four -year deal. They really didn't get
- 41:13into the... to the numbers and whatnot. Terrence
- 41:16Ferguson, 8 .5 million guarantees. Will Johnson,
- 41:19there's nothing to report with that. Only thing
- 41:22that they said was this four -year deal, of course.
- 41:25Ariante Ursery for the Texans, four years, $9
- 41:28.2 million deal. Karshing Springer, of course,
- 41:31we already know, fully guaranteed. Jaden Higgins,
- 41:34we already know, fully guaranteed. Nick Imanwari
- 41:36for the Seahawks, fully guaranteed. Quinshawn
- 41:39Junkins right now, he's unsigned because he was
- 41:42arrested on a domestic violence charge on July
- 41:4412th. Jonah Savania for the Dolphins. My bad
- 41:52if I butchered your last name, bro. 100 % guaranteed.
- 41:58Travion Henderson, I don't see it, but I think
- 42:01it is guaranteed as well. Luther Burden, just
- 42:04a generic rookie deal. Tyler Shuck, fully guaranteed.
- 42:09TJ Sanders. He inked a four -year $10 .6 million
- 42:12deal with $10 million guaranteed. Mason Taylor,
- 42:1691 .3 % guaranteed. Demetrius Knight, 80 % guaranteed.
- 42:22Let's see, Elijah Arroyo, $6 .8 million guaranteed.
- 42:27Nick Scorton, just a four -year deal. That's
- 42:29the only thing that they report. Uluwafami, Oladijo
- 42:34for the Titans. Just the first three years guaranteed.
- 42:38Benjamin Morrison, 96 % guaranteed in the third
- 42:41year. Anthony Belton, all this is is sign a rookie
- 42:44contract. Trey Harris, he just agreed to the
- 42:48deal. I know this is weird. Ozzy, triple O for
- 42:52the Bears. The first two years are fully guaranteed,
- 42:55with the third year only guaranteed at 72%. Tate
- 42:59Rattles, he's just agreed to the deal. Jack Besch,
- 43:02the details are pending. Same thing with Mike
- 43:04Green. R .J. Harvey for the Broncos. The first
- 43:07two years are fully guaranteed, and the third
- 43:08year is only guaranteed 47 .7%. Trey Amos, he
- 43:13only agreed to the deal. Same thing with Samar
- 43:15Turner. Omar Norman Lott, same thing, just signed
- 43:20his rookie deal. Andrew Makuba. 7 .1 million
- 43:23guaranteed. So you saw more teams actually just
- 43:27guaranteeing a percentage of that third or fourth
- 43:30year. And of course, you saw a few teams that
- 43:32just said, you know what, screw it, we'll just
- 43:34give you a fully guaranteed deal. But I think
- 43:36with all this being said and done, I think the
- 43:39number one question that needs to be asked is,
- 43:41will second round picks moving forward ask for
- 43:44fully guaranteed contracts? Because we all know
- 43:47that first rounders, their contract is guaranteed.
- 43:51So I wonder with Jaden Higgins and Carson Swearinger
- 43:55and Nicky Manwari and a few others getting fully
- 43:57guaranteed contracts, will that now have a ripple
- 44:00effect on next year's draft and moving forward?
- 44:03Will that also affect possibly, you know, third
- 44:06round picks, maybe fourth round picks moving
- 44:08forward? I would not be surprised if next year
- 44:12during the NFL players meeting, they probably
- 44:15say, you know what, we're going to find a way
- 44:17to make sure that second round picks don't get
- 44:19fully guaranteed deals and whatnot. But this
- 44:22was expected. We know specifically with this
- 44:25draft, more teams were interested in the second
- 44:28and third round. than actually the first round.
- 44:32And a lot of the people who were slated to be
- 44:34first round picks actually fell into the second.
- 44:37And that's why you saw such an influx of people
- 44:39just flying off the board so quickly. But this
- 44:42is something I'm definitely keeping an eye on
- 44:44moving forward because I know this is gonna have
- 44:46future ramifications. But let's get into gut
- 44:48check time, all right, folks? I know this is
- 44:50the part that everybody has been waiting for.
- 44:52So let's do it, all right? AFC South, you already
- 44:55know Colts, Jaguars. Texans and Titans, all right?
- 44:59So let's start with the Colts. The positional
- 45:01battles that I'm watching out right now, quarterback,
- 45:04right tackle, wide receiver, defensive end, and
- 45:06back up running back, all right? Players that
- 45:09I'm keeping an eye on, Anthony Richardson, Alec
- 45:11Pierce, Adani Mitchell, DJ Giddens, Latu Latu,
- 45:14Khalil Herbert, and Bernard Raymond, all right?
- 45:17So the storyline for the Colts is, who will be
- 45:20the starting quarterback for the Colts this year?
- 45:22Because right now, Anthony Richardson and Daniel
- 45:24Jones have a clean slate. Nobody has an advantage
- 45:27over the other. And right now, Anthony Richardson
- 45:30has to prove that he is the franchise quarterback
- 45:33for the Colts. Because right now, I wouldn't
- 45:36be surprised if they're already having meetings
- 45:38on possibly scouting for next year's quarterback.
- 45:41Because right now, Anthony Richardson has not
- 45:43shown anything. He hasn't even shown that he
- 45:46can play an entire season so far. Now for Daniel
- 45:50Jones, it's a little bit more complicated with
- 45:52his. We know the Giants let go of him because
- 45:55he wasn't living up to the expectations of that
- 45:57contract. And then he jumps on the way with the
- 45:59Vikings. He's the backup for the Vikings and
- 46:01he doesn't play for them. And then, you know,
- 46:03he's looking for another team. And so here we
- 46:05are. But right now, both quarterbacks have to
- 46:09have spectacular training camps. Because if neither
- 46:13one of them show anything, oh, they're gone.
- 46:16And it doesn't help that next year's draft class
- 46:19is supposed to be really good at quarterback.
- 46:21I mean, come on. And I know I haven't talked
- 46:23about it. I know I have to talk about it. But,
- 46:25I mean, you're going to have Drew Adler, Carson
- 46:27Beck, Lenore Sellers, Fernando Mendoza. Who else?
- 46:31I could probably name about maybe three or four
- 46:33other quarterbacks except for Archie Manning
- 46:35because Archie Manning is not going to be in
- 46:36next year's draft class. You heard it here first
- 46:38in the Football Junkies podcast. I believe it
- 46:40and I know it, okay? But let's get back to the
- 46:42Colts. The Colts should be one of the few teams
- 46:45that we should be talking about well into the
- 46:47playoffs. But what is the number one thing that
- 46:50has kept them from taking things to the next
- 46:52level? Bad and inconsistent quarterback play.
- 46:56And so right now, if you're Anthony Richardson,
- 46:58you have something to prove. If you're Daniel
- 47:01Jones, you have something to prove. So both of
- 47:05you guys are going to have to hash this thing
- 47:07out from the start of training camp all the way
- 47:09to the last preseason game. You guys are on a
- 47:14thin, and I mean the thinnest string that you
- 47:17could possibly think of right now. So with A
- 47:19.D. Mitchell, I want to see more from him. I
- 47:22want to see, can he be a more effective wide
- 47:24receiver? Because he has all the talent to be
- 47:27a really good receiver. The question is, can
- 47:30he put it together? And granted, I understand,
- 47:33you know, when you don't have a really good quarterback,
- 47:35sometimes that can, you know, diminish your stats
- 47:38and how effective you are on the field. I get
- 47:40all of that. But still, you want to see more
- 47:43from A .D. Mitchell. Same thing with Alec Pierce.
- 47:47Is there another level to his game? And if so,
- 47:50can it be achieved? Because right now, if Anthony
- 47:54Bridgeson and Daniel Jones play at an average
- 47:56to above average quarterback play, who's really
- 47:59complaining? Because everything else is already
- 48:02in place. You made an investment in getting Tyler
- 48:04Warren. You have Mo Alleycox. You have Jonathan
- 48:07Taylor. You have A .D. Mitchell. You have Michael
- 48:09Pittman Jr. You have a really good offense. Everything
- 48:12has to come together. And people's game has to
- 48:15be elevated even more. Same thing with the backup
- 48:19running back position. Will it be D .J. Giddens
- 48:22or will it be Khalil Herbert? Because me personally,
- 48:25I think that is another sleeper of a position
- 48:28that needs to be talked about just because we
- 48:30all know that Jonathan Taylor is probably going
- 48:32to miss, you know, two to maybe three games during
- 48:34the season. And that's perfectly fine. But you
- 48:36want to make sure that you have a backup running
- 48:38back that is just as effective and consistent
- 48:40as your primary back. And when we look at right
- 48:43tackle, Bernard Raymond, I wouldn't say he's
- 48:46on the hot seat. But I want to see, can his game
- 48:49be elevated? It's the same thing that I'm saying
- 48:52with all the other offensive players. Can your
- 48:54game be elevated, all right? I understand that
- 48:56they lost Braden Smith via free agency, but I
- 48:59still believe that this is still a really good
- 49:02offensive line. And let's shift over things to
- 49:04the defense, all right? Latu, Latu, you got to
- 49:07show something, bro. Because they made an investment
- 49:10in the second round, I think it was. Yeah, in
- 49:13the second round with getting JT to him a lot.
- 49:15So, I mean, come on. You got to show something.
- 49:18Now, I'm not saying you got to put up, you know,
- 49:2012 or 13 sacks, but I think between 8 to 10 sacks,
- 49:24I think that would actually be really good. Now,
- 49:26when we look at possible free agency additions,
- 49:27if they want to take that route, especially for
- 49:30running back, I mean, you have Jamal Williams,
- 49:31Gus Edwards, Jeff Wilson, Amir Abdullah, Chase
- 49:34Edmonds, Ernest Johnson, Jermichael Hastie. If
- 49:37you want to go with the defensive end free agency
- 49:39route, you can go with Jadavion Clowney, Demarcus
- 49:42Walker, Montrevis Adams, Jerry Hughes. If you
- 49:46want to do tackle, all right, you have George
- 49:48Fant, Andreas Peet, Isaiah Wynn, Chris Hubbard,
- 49:51even though the tackle free agency crop right
- 49:53now really isn't the best. But if you want to
- 49:56take those routes, they are readily available.
- 49:58Let's go to the Jaguars, right? Positional battles
- 50:00to watch out for. Running back, right tackle,
- 50:03safety. So the players I'm keeping an eye out
- 50:05for are Eric Mary, Andrew Wingard, Anton Harrison,
- 50:09and Travis Etienne. Now the storyline for the
- 50:11Jaguars is, can Liam Cohen improve this offense?
- 50:15And the reason why I say that is because we all
- 50:17saw how that Buccaneers offense was last season.
- 50:19It was effective, it was consistent, and it was
- 50:21putting points on the board. So if you're the
- 50:24Jaguars, you want at least half of that. Now
- 50:27am I saying, are you going to get all of it?
- 50:29No, because you don't have the same type of players
- 50:32that the Buccaneers have. But if you can at least
- 50:35get a fraction of that, I think that would be
- 50:38great. I think that would let people know like,
- 50:40hey, we are heading in the right direction and
- 50:43all the investments that we have made so far,
- 50:45they're working. But if this offense can't take
- 50:49another step in the right direction, there's
- 50:51gonna be some serious questions that are gonna
- 50:53have to be asked once this season is over with.
- 50:55The reason why I listed both safeties for players
- 50:58to watch out for is because one of them is not
- 51:01gonna be on this team because remember, the Jaguars
- 51:03drafted the safety. fairly high in this past
- 51:06draft. So either Andrew Wingard is going to get
- 51:10cut or Eric Mary. Now with Anton Harrison, I
- 51:13want to see if he can continue to grow because
- 51:16right now he hasn't played his best ball and
- 51:19I want to see if he can at least show like, hey,
- 51:22I am that guy. I am your franchise right tackle
- 51:25because right now Liam Cohen has already put
- 51:28him on notice. Like, hey, listen, if you're not
- 51:32showing anything, we're going to move off of
- 51:33you. So, if I'm Anton Harrison, I got to ball
- 51:37out. Now, for Travis Etienne, that's a little
- 51:39bit of a weird situation, and I'll explain why.
- 51:43Because we all saw that they declined his fifth
- 51:45-year option, so everyone's thinking, oh, okay,
- 51:47they're going to trade Travis Etienne. So far,
- 51:49they haven't. And so far, he's now taking a back
- 51:53step when it comes to the roster and getting
- 51:56the snaps and just being on the field. Because
- 51:58now Tank Bixby is now the starting running back
- 52:01for this team. And so right now, if you're Travis
- 52:04Etienne, do you want to force a trade? Do you
- 52:07want to go in a different direction? Do you want
- 52:09to stay with the Jaguars? Me personally, I wouldn't.
- 52:13Because you guys clearly have shown that you
- 52:15guys don't value me as a player. So I might as
- 52:18well just want to go somewhere else. Now, when
- 52:21we look at possible free agency additions, if
- 52:23they want to take that route, of course, with
- 52:24the running back, as I've already said, Jamal
- 52:26Williams, Gus Edwards, Jeff Wilson, Naheem Hines,
- 52:29Amir Abdullah, Chase Edmonds, Dernish Johnson.
- 52:31Actually, no, scratch that. Naheem Hines actually
- 52:34signed with the Chargers. I remember that. When
- 52:36we look at safety, however, if they want to take
- 52:38a veteran approach, you have Marcus Williams,
- 52:41Justin Simmons, Jordan Whitehead, Quandre Diggs,
- 52:44and Chuck Clark. Tackle. If you want to bring
- 52:47in competition for Anton Harrison, you know,
- 52:49you can bring in George Phan, Andreas Peet, Isaiah
- 52:51Wynn, Chris Hubbard, you know, somebody that
- 52:54they're not necessarily going to take his job,
- 52:56but they're definitely going to push him. But
- 52:59let's keep things going, all right? Let's talk
- 53:01about the Texans. So their positional battles,
- 53:03tackle and wide receiver, all right? Players
- 53:05to keep an eye out for, Cam Robinson, Ariante
- 53:08Ursi, John Meche, and Xavier Hutchinson. Everyone's
- 53:12probably going to be wondering, why would you
- 53:13put the rookie that they just drafted on player
- 53:15to look out for? Because I want to see how he
- 53:18holds up against matchups between Daniil Hunter
- 53:21and Will Anderson. Now, I'm not saying they're
- 53:23going to get rid of him. No, of course not. But
- 53:25I just want to see where he is at this point,
- 53:28all right? Cam Robinson, yes, they did make a
- 53:30trade for him last season. Me, personally, I
- 53:34would have tried to get off of him, but... I
- 53:36guess I see the reason why you want to keep him,
- 53:39but I just want to see where he is at this point.
- 53:42Because right now, if you're the Texans, do you
- 53:46want to see how things go with Cam Robinson?
- 53:49Do you want to try to make another crazy move
- 53:51for a left tackle if someone becomes available?
- 53:54What exactly are you going to do moving forward
- 53:56to? address left tackle long -term. Because right
- 54:00now, I don't think Cam Robinson is the long -term
- 54:03option. I just think he's just a Band -Aid over
- 54:06a bullet wound. Yes, I know it's a weird monocle,
- 54:09but that's just how I view things. I know, it's
- 54:11weird. Don't worry about it. But when it comes
- 54:13to wide receiver, they have a lot of wide receivers,
- 54:16okay? You got Jaden Higgins, Tank Dell, John
- 54:18Mechie, Xavier Hutchison. I know I'm missing
- 54:21a few others. Who else? Evan Ingram. You have
- 54:25a lot of receivers. So somebody isn't going to
- 54:28make the team. Me personally, I think it's between
- 54:31John Mechie and Xavier Hutchinson. Now, John
- 54:34Mechie, you can give him a little bit of leeway
- 54:36because he was battling some type of disease
- 54:38and he wasn't able to play for a while. But since
- 54:41then, he really hasn't had a chance to really
- 54:43be on the field. So do you want to send him into
- 54:46a better opportunity where he could actually
- 54:49be effective on the field? Possibly. It's the
- 54:52same thing with Xavier Hutchinson. So right now,
- 54:54that entire wide receiver room is on notice.
- 54:57When we look at possible free agency additions,
- 55:00I mean, for tackle, you have George Fant, Andreas
- 55:01Peet, Isaiah Wynn, Chris Hubbard, if you want
- 55:03to bring in competition for both Cam Robinson
- 55:05and Ariante Ursery. For wide receiver, if you
- 55:09want to take that route, Keenan Allen, Amara
- 55:12Cooper, Gabe Davis, Nelson Aguilar, DJ Char,
- 55:14Tyler Boyd, Chris Conley, and Jamison Crowder.
- 55:17But the storyline for the Texans is, can this
- 55:20offense improve? And here's why. We all saw that
- 55:24this offense was just atrocious last year. From
- 55:27the offensive line being unable to protect C
- 55:29.J. Stroud to the run game being inconsistent,
- 55:32the offense just wasn't good at all. I want to
- 55:35see, can they rebound and actually improve? Because
- 55:38mind you, they made additions at wide receiver,
- 55:42but they also added Nick Chubb as well. So now
- 55:44you have a tandem of both Joe Mixon and Nick
- 55:47Chubb as well. And they made some investments
- 55:49into the offensive line. So I want to see can
- 55:52this offense become a little bit better than
- 55:55what it has been the last two years. Because
- 55:58we all know that if the run game was just a little
- 56:01bit better against the Chiefs in the playoffs,
- 56:03they could have won that game. The defense was
- 56:05keeping them in the game. It was just the offense
- 56:08was just so stagnant and it was so inconsistent
- 56:11that C .J. Stroud couldn't do anything. But only
- 56:15time will tell. Now, let's get to the Titans,
- 56:17all right? So, their positional battles. Guard,
- 56:20wide receiver, tight end, and left tackle. Players
- 56:23to keep an eye out for. Xavier Restrepo, Traylon
- 56:25Burks, Van Jefferson, Dan Moore, Peter Skowronski,
- 56:28and Chig Okonkwo. I think I butchered your last
- 56:32name. I didn't mean to do it, bro. Now, their
- 56:34storyline. Can this team improve? I understand
- 56:38that they just drafted Cam Ward. I understand
- 56:40that they still have a lot of rookies, especially
- 56:43on the offense. But can this offense improve?
- 56:46Peter Skowronski, you got to see more from him.
- 56:50Because right now, things are looking a little
- 56:53bit shaky, okay? Sure, they moved J .C. Latham
- 56:56back over to right tackle, if I'm not mistaken.
- 56:58Yes, they're moving back over to right tackle.
- 57:00Dan Moore's left tackle. I want to see, is Dan
- 57:04Moore going to live up to that contract? Because
- 57:06the Titans gave him a big payday. They paid him
- 57:09a lot of money. They paid him like he is an above
- 57:13average to possibly borderline elite left tackle.
- 57:17So let's see if he lives up to that deal. Wide
- 57:20receiver, Xavier Estrepo. Right now, you're on
- 57:24the outside looking in. But you have a chance
- 57:27to make this roster. Because the wide receiver
- 57:30room outside of Calvin Ridley isn't completely
- 57:33solidified. So you could do it. And mind you,
- 57:36you sort of have an advantage because you have
- 57:38chemistry with Cam Ward. Now, when we look at
- 57:42the tight end, however, I really don't know what
- 57:44to tell you at tight end. Now, me personally,
- 57:47I would try to make a move to get Noah Pham because
- 57:50right now that is probably the only viable option
- 57:53at tight end. I mean, sure, you could probably
- 57:56get Noah Phan, Gerald Everett, Mercedes Lewis,
- 57:59Jordan Aikens, or CJ Uzma, but I think Noah Phan
- 58:02has a little bit more upside with his game. Van
- 58:04Jefferson, I don't want to say he's on the outside
- 58:08looking in because I do think he'll make this
- 58:11roster, but I mean, it all depends on how well
- 58:15he plays. Traylon Burks, you're on the outside
- 58:17looking in. But I will say this, I wouldn't be
- 58:20surprised if the Titans make multiple moves to
- 58:23bring in wide receivers. I think they probably
- 58:25would make a move for someone like a John Mechie
- 58:28or Xavier Hutchinson or Don Sabian Wiggs or Romeo
- 58:33Dobbs if they become readily available. Because
- 58:36right now, outside of Calvin Ridley and Tony
- 58:40Pollard, What else do you really have? And this
- 58:43is no disrespect to any of the other offensive
- 58:45players on this team and whatnot, but for a rookie
- 58:50quarterback, you want to try to surround them
- 58:52with as much talent as you possibly can. Me,
- 58:56personally, I feel like they can make more of
- 58:58an investment into the offense because right
- 59:00now, this offense leading into week one of the
- 59:02regular season is not good enough. You need to
- 59:05at least make at least two, maybe three moves.
- 59:09just to upgrade it, just so it can be, I don't
- 59:11know, average to possibly above average. Just
- 59:14saying. Now, when we look at possible free agency
- 59:16additions, like I said before, with tight end,
- 59:19you have Noah Fant, Gerald Everett, Mercedes
- 59:21Lewis, Jordan Aiken, CJ Usma. You also have Noah
- 59:24Fant as well. Guard, you have Brandon Scherf
- 59:27if you want to bring in competition for Peter
- 59:29Skowronski, Shaq Mason, Will Hernandez, Joe Feliciano,
- 59:32Cody Whitehair, Dalton Reisner, Mark Glanowski.
- 59:36Wide receiver. I mean, sure, you have Tyler Lockett
- 59:40and you have Calvin Ridley and company. But if
- 59:42you want to take, you know, a free agency route,
- 59:45you can, you know, get Keenan Allen, Amar Cooper,
- 59:47Gabe Davis, Nelson Aguilar, DJ Chark, Tyler Boyd.
- 59:51If you want to bring him back, Chris Conley,
- 59:52Jamison Crowder. Tackle, you could bring in George
- 59:56Fant, Andreas Peet, Isaiah Wynn, Michael Dunlap,
- 59:59Raven Clark, Chris Hubbard, and Jermaine Effetti
- 1:00:01if you want to take that route. Just so you can
- 1:00:03have competition for both JC Latham and... Dan
- 1:00:07Moore as well, but also having a safety blanket
- 1:00:11just in case they get hurt or anything crazy
- 1:00:13happens. But I want to see, can this team improve?
- 1:00:17Because the defense have pieces. The offense
- 1:00:21has pieces. But the question is, can you put
- 1:00:25them together and can this be an effective team?
- 1:00:28Now, I'm not saying this team is going to win
- 1:00:29eight games or this team is going to win 10 games
- 1:00:32or go to the playoffs or whatnot. But I will
- 1:00:34say this. If this team wins at least five games
- 1:00:39and Cam Ward looks pretty good, I think you're
- 1:00:43in the right direction. But if this team struggles,
- 1:00:47we might have to have a conversation. Just saying.
- 1:00:50Now let's go to the NFC North. I mean, not North.
- 1:00:53South. I don't know why I'm thinking about the
- 1:00:55North. Saints, Falcons, Buccaneers, Panthers.
- 1:01:00This one is going to be a little bit controversial,
- 1:01:02but I really don't care. So let's start. So for
- 1:01:04the Saints, positional battles to watch out for,
- 1:01:06quarterback, left guard, safety, quarterback,
- 1:01:08and defensive line. Players to keep an eye out
- 1:01:10for, Tyler Shuggs, Spencer Rattler, Trevor Penning,
- 1:01:13Jordan Howden, Jonas Sanker, Alante Taylor, excuse
- 1:01:17me, Ugo Amadi, Brian Brees, David Gottschall,
- 1:01:21Nathan Shepard, and Vernon Broughton, all right?
- 1:01:24So the storyline for the Saints is, what's the
- 1:01:27identity of this team? granted I understand they've
- 1:01:30had a lot of change in this offseason you now
- 1:01:33have a new head coach a new regime so what is
- 1:01:35the identity of this team how is this team going
- 1:01:39to be better than it has been the last two years
- 1:01:41are they going to be more effective in the run
- 1:01:43game in the pass game a little bit of both what
- 1:01:46exactly is the identity of this team moving forward
- 1:01:49because right now if I'm Kellen Moore I would
- 1:01:52use this upcoming season as a measuring stick
- 1:01:54to see where the team is I want to see, hey,
- 1:01:58do we need to make significant upgrades in the
- 1:02:00draft next year and free agency? Are we good
- 1:02:03with what we have? What exactly do we need to
- 1:02:06do to make this team better within the next two
- 1:02:09to five years? Because right now, I mean, you
- 1:02:12have Chris Alave, you have Alvin Kamara, you
- 1:02:14have Ty Luis Figueroa. You have pieces on the
- 1:02:17offense. Same thing with the defense. But you
- 1:02:20want to make sure that this team is headed in
- 1:02:23the right direction under Kellen Moore. So let's
- 1:02:26get into quarterbacks, all right? So Tyler Shuck
- 1:02:28and Spencer Radler, both of them have a clean
- 1:02:30slate and neither one of them has an advantage
- 1:02:32over the other. So right now, I think my number
- 1:02:36one question for Kellen Moore would be, how long
- 1:02:39is it going to take for you to come to a decision
- 1:02:40on who's going to be the starting quarterback
- 1:02:42for this team? Are you going to wait all the
- 1:02:45way until the end of training camp? Or are you
- 1:02:47going to make a decision by the second or maybe
- 1:02:50last game of the preseason? Because right now,
- 1:02:54I think... I probably would want to roll with
- 1:02:56Spencer Rattler just because he showed a little
- 1:02:59bit last year. But again, I don't make those
- 1:03:02decisions. I'm not a part of the Saints, so I
- 1:03:04don't know anything. Trevor Penning, you got
- 1:03:07to show something because right now you have
- 1:03:09not lived up to that first round pick. They moved
- 1:03:11you at tackle. Now they're moving you at guard.
- 1:03:13You have to show something. I think if Trevor
- 1:03:16Penning shows that he is an average to possibly
- 1:03:19above average guard, I think he has a chance.
- 1:03:23But... If he doesn't show anything, if he doesn't
- 1:03:26show any growth, they're going to move off of
- 1:03:28him. Because again, you can get a guard anywhere.
- 1:03:31And not to mention, there are still some really
- 1:03:33good veteran guard options that are still available.
- 1:03:36Brandon Scherf, Shaq Mason, Will Hernandez, Cody
- 1:03:39Whitehair, Dalton Reisner, Mark Lanowski. If
- 1:03:41you want to take that route, you know. Jonas
- 1:03:43Sanker, Elante Taylor, excuse me. Ugo Amadi,
- 1:03:47Brian Brees, Davin Gottschall. I want to see
- 1:03:51more from you guys. I want to see exactly. Can
- 1:03:54you guys solidify your role within this team?
- 1:03:57Because if not, I think the Saints will have
- 1:04:00no problem making upgrades, especially for Brian
- 1:04:02Brees. I think I'm pronouncing your last name
- 1:04:08correct. Hopefully I am. But I want to see more
- 1:04:11from him. I want to see more from this defensive
- 1:04:14line. Can this defensive line... Be effective
- 1:04:17moving forward. Because last year, the defensive
- 1:04:19line wasn't the best. And granted, I understand
- 1:04:22you still have Cam Jordan and you have Chase
- 1:04:24Young as well. But outside of them, who else
- 1:04:26do you have? Everybody is under a microscope
- 1:04:30moving forward. Now, yes, I did put safety on
- 1:04:34here. And this was prior to the Julian Blackman
- 1:04:37signing. But I think now that Julian Blackman
- 1:04:39is a part of the Saints, we could actually just
- 1:04:41cut that out moving forward. Yeah, let's just
- 1:04:45get into the free agency additions, all right?
- 1:04:47So for guard, like I just said, you have Brandon
- 1:04:49Scherff, Shaq Mason, Will Hernandez, Cody White
- 1:04:52here. For cornerback, if you want to take that
- 1:04:54route, James Bradbury, Kendall Fuller, Stephon
- 1:04:57Gilmore, Rasul Douglas, Mike Hilton, CJ Henderson,
- 1:05:00Michael Davis, Asante Samuel Jr., which I think
- 1:05:02would actually be a really good move, and Emmanuel
- 1:05:05Mosley. Defensive line, if you want to take that
- 1:05:08route, you have Raekwon Davis, Demarcus Walker,
- 1:05:10Montrevious Adams, Jerry Hughes, Linval Joseph,
- 1:05:13Maurice Hurst. Quarterback, if you want to take
- 1:05:15that route, if you want to bring in a veteran
- 1:05:17quarterback, you have Carson Wentz, C .J. Beathard,
- 1:05:19and Teddy Bridgewater. So all in all, actually,
- 1:05:23you know what? I know there was a position that
- 1:05:25I was missing out on, cornerback. I want to see
- 1:05:27how these corners are going to look because outside
- 1:05:29Kool -Aid McKinsey, if I'm killing more, I possibly
- 1:05:32would want to make an upgrade at cornerback.
- 1:05:35Just saying. I mean, you have James Bradbury,
- 1:05:38Kendall Fuller, Stephon Gilmore, Rasul Douglas,
- 1:05:41Mike Hilton, CJ Henderson, Asante Samuel Jr.
- 1:05:43I think getting Asante Samuel Jr. and pairing
- 1:05:46him with Kool -Aid McKinstry, I think that would
- 1:05:49actually be really good. On top of that, you
- 1:05:51have Jordan Reed and you have Julian Blackman.
- 1:05:53I think that would be a really effective secondary.
- 1:05:57But again... I don't make these decisions, okay?
- 1:06:00And let's keep on going to the Falcons, all right?
- 1:06:03So outside linebacker, quarterback, safety, kicker,
- 1:06:06right tackle, nickel corner, end tight end are
- 1:06:09all the positions that I'm looking out for. So
- 1:06:11players I'm looking out for, Jordan Fuller, Kirk
- 1:06:14Cousins, Michael Penix, Young Ho Koo, Dee Alford,
- 1:06:17Clark Phillips III, Caleb McGarry, Kyle Pitts,
- 1:06:21and Leonard Floyd, all right? So their storyline.
- 1:06:24Can Michael Penix improve going into year two?
- 1:06:28Granted, we didn't see a whole lot from Michael
- 1:06:30Penix, but I want to know, can Michael Penix
- 1:06:33take that next step moving forward? Yes, I know
- 1:06:35I say it so much, but I hear it so much on different
- 1:06:38podcasts and whatnot. So I guess it's so ingrained
- 1:06:41with me. But yes, can Michael Penix take that
- 1:06:44next step moving forward? When we look at this
- 1:06:46Falcons team right now, this team just has to
- 1:06:50improve. And I'm not just saying a specific position.
- 1:06:54I'm not saying a specific side. But this team
- 1:06:57as a whole has to improve. This team has weapons.
- 1:07:02This team could be fairly competitive. Am I saying
- 1:07:06this team can win the division? No. Am I saying
- 1:07:09this team can make the playoffs? No. But what
- 1:07:11I am saying is this. You want to see some level
- 1:07:14of improvement from this team that makes you
- 1:07:16say, hey, we're heading in the right direction.
- 1:07:19We're doing everything that needs to be done.
- 1:07:22Now, when we look at players to look out for,
- 1:07:24Jordan Fuller, Kirk Cousins, me personally, I
- 1:07:29just want to see where Kirk Cousins is. Because
- 1:07:31right now, hey, there might be a team that say,
- 1:07:34hey, we'll trade you X amount of picks or player
- 1:07:38for Kirk Cousins. Because again, Kirk Cousins
- 1:07:41continues to show and say that he does not want
- 1:07:44to be a part of the Falcons because the Falcons
- 1:07:46did him wrong and all that stuff, yada, yada.
- 1:07:48No one cares about that, okay? If you want to
- 1:07:49hear about it, go on Netflix and watch the new
- 1:07:52quarterback series, okay? It's not a promotion
- 1:07:54for Netflix, but hey, Netflix, if you're hearing,
- 1:07:57if you want to sponsor me, I have no problem
- 1:07:59doing that, okay? We'll even put the Netflix
- 1:08:01intro, the little doo -doo, in the front of the
- 1:08:05Football Junkies podcast if you want to. It's
- 1:08:07no problem. But Jordan Fuller, I definitely want
- 1:08:10to see an improvement from you. Michael Penix,
- 1:08:12we already talked about. Young Hoku, you had
- 1:08:15a down year last year, but I believe that you
- 1:08:18can definitely rebound. We all know things happen
- 1:08:21in life. You could be going through something
- 1:08:23at home. You could be seriously injured and you're
- 1:08:26just trying to play through it. Different things
- 1:08:28can happen, so I have no problem giving Young
- 1:08:30Hoku a chance because he's been a really effective
- 1:08:34kicker for the past few years. Am I saying he's
- 1:08:36top five? No, but I think he's possibly maybe
- 1:08:38like top 10, maybe top 15 at best. Now, as far
- 1:08:42as nickel corner, I feel like that's open. I
- 1:08:45feel like that's anybody's job at this point.
- 1:08:47Do I think Clark Phillips could definitely take
- 1:08:49it? Yes. Do I think Jordan Fuller could take
- 1:08:51it? Yes, but only time will tell. Caleb McGarry.
- 1:08:55I want to see where he is, especially with the
- 1:08:58extension of the right tackle from the Packers,
- 1:09:03Zach Tom. I want to see exactly if he's on that
- 1:09:06level because if he is, Falcons, you're going
- 1:09:10to have to pay him that money. You're going to
- 1:09:12have to pay him some money. I'm not saying you
- 1:09:13have to reset the market for Caleb McGarry, but
- 1:09:16I do want to see where he is at this point and
- 1:09:19would it be best for the team to bring in competition
- 1:09:23just so they can see, hey. Is he the guy moving
- 1:09:26forward? Do we want to, you know, back him with
- 1:09:28money? Or do we want to move in a different direction,
- 1:09:32you know, after this upcoming season? But again,
- 1:09:35only time will tell. Kyle Pitts, you just got
- 1:09:38to show something just for other teams. Because
- 1:09:40all signs point that the Falcons are not going
- 1:09:42to give Kyle Pitts an extension. So if I'm Kyle
- 1:09:45Pitts, I'm bowling out in both training camp
- 1:09:48and in the preseason. But that's just me. Now,
- 1:09:51Leonard Floyd, I only put Leonard Floyd down
- 1:09:53just because they made significant investments
- 1:09:56in pass rush with drafting James Pierce and Mikel
- 1:10:01Williams. If they only drafted just one, I wouldn't
- 1:10:05put him on this list. But because they drafted
- 1:10:06two, it puts a little bit of pressure for Leonard
- 1:10:10Floyd. Now, am I saying that Leonard Floyd is
- 1:10:12going to get cut? No, I think his spot is safe.
- 1:10:17There is a chance that they may take some snaps
- 1:10:19from Leonard Floyd or they may have a different
- 1:10:22or they may move in a different direction concerning
- 1:10:25him moving forward. But when we look at possible
- 1:10:28free agency additions. For safety, I mean, you
- 1:10:31have Marcus Williams, Justin Simmons, if you
- 1:10:33want to take that route, which I don't think
- 1:10:34they want to take that route. Jordan Whitehead,
- 1:10:37Quandre Diggs, Chuck Clark. Tackle, if you want
- 1:10:40to bring in competition, you have George Fant,
- 1:10:42Andreas Peet, Isaiah Wynn, Michael Dunn, Raven
- 1:10:45Clark, Chris Hubbard, Jermaine Nefedi. Corner,
- 1:10:48if you want to take that route, you have... Mike
- 1:10:50Hilton, you have Asante Samuel Jr., you know,
- 1:10:53two really good nickel corners. I mean, you have
- 1:10:57Emmanuel Mosley as well. If you want to take
- 1:10:59that route, James Bradbury, Kendall Fuller, Stephon
- 1:11:01Gilmore, Rasul Douglas. If you want somebody
- 1:11:03that has a little bit more flexibility, if that
- 1:11:06makes sense. Kicker, you could bring in Nick
- 1:11:08Folk, Matt Prater, Eddie Panero, Michael Badley,
- 1:11:11Zane Gonzalez, Cade York, Austin Seibert. I think
- 1:11:17is your last name. Hopefully I didn't butcher
- 1:11:19your last name. My bad if I did. Tight end, you
- 1:11:22have Noah Phan, Gerald Everett, Mercedes Lewis,
- 1:11:24Jordan Akins, and C .J. Uzma or George Phan because
- 1:11:27he just became a free agent not too long ago.
- 1:11:30Outside linebacker, you have Matthew Judon, Preston
- 1:11:33Anzidarius Smith, Kaiser White, Duke Riley, Jalen
- 1:11:36Reeves, Maven, and Kamul Grazier -Hill. So you
- 1:11:41have options if you want to take that route.
- 1:11:43I'm not saying that you have to. But if you want
- 1:11:46to, those are your options. And let's keep things
- 1:11:50going. Let's go to the Panthers, all right? So
- 1:11:52their positional battles to watch out for, outside
- 1:11:54linebacker, wide receiver two, left tackle, center,
- 1:11:57and safety. So players to look out for. So you
- 1:12:00have Hunter Renfro. Yes, I know it's controversial,
- 1:12:02but I don't care. Jimmy Horn Jr., David Moore,
- 1:12:06Austin Corbett. You have Akeem Akwanu, just to
- 1:12:10name a few. With the names that I just listed,
- 1:12:14so especially for Hunter Renfro, right? You're
- 1:12:18just now coming back into the league. I want
- 1:12:21to see exactly where you are at this point in
- 1:12:23your career. Are you still the effective slot
- 1:12:27receiver that you were when you were with the
- 1:12:29Raiders? Or have you aged a little bit? Where
- 1:12:32is your game at right now? When we come to Jimmy
- 1:12:36Horn Jr., like he was bowling out in OTAs and
- 1:12:40in minicamp. So I want to see, is that going
- 1:12:43to continue moving into a training camp? You
- 1:12:46know, once you put on the pads and everything.
- 1:12:48Akeem Aquanu, I want to see exactly where you
- 1:12:50are. Because if I'm not mistaken, he's getting
- 1:12:53ready to come up for a contract, if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:12:57So I want to see where you are. Their center,
- 1:13:00Austin Corbett, I want to see where you are.
- 1:13:02There's a lot of players on this team that I
- 1:13:04want to see where they are at this point. Outside
- 1:13:07linebacker. Sure, they've made, you know, some
- 1:13:11investments. You know, they got Pat Jones and,
- 1:13:13you know, they drafted Prince Lee. Uman Milan,
- 1:13:18I think. No, I know. I just butchered your last
- 1:13:21name. Dog, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry if I butchered
- 1:13:24your last name. But, you know, the outside linebacker
- 1:13:27core, I want to see exactly where they are because
- 1:13:30I know they've made a lot of investments at that
- 1:13:33position specifically. So I just want to see,
- 1:13:36you know. where everybody is at this point, who's
- 1:13:39going to stand out, who's going to fall, all
- 1:13:41of that and more. But when we look at their storyline
- 1:13:45for this team, can Bryce Young take the next
- 1:13:49step? Last year was a rocky year for Bryce Young.
- 1:13:53There was a point where he got benched and then
- 1:13:55Andy Dalton came in. Then, you know, Andy Dalton
- 1:13:58wasn't playing his best ball. Then he got hurt,
- 1:14:00I think, in a car accident or something. Then
- 1:14:01so Bryce Young came in and then Bryce Young sort
- 1:14:04of like went on this, you know, really good run.
- 1:14:07He was playing really good. So I want to see
- 1:14:09is that momentum going to carry on into this
- 1:14:12season? Because right now, Bryce Young has to
- 1:14:15live up to that number one overall pick. Now,
- 1:14:18am I saying that he has to be an elite quarterback?
- 1:14:21No. But I think if he's a top 10, possibly top
- 1:14:2415 quarterback, I don't think nobody's really
- 1:14:26complaining. Now, me personally, I think the
- 1:14:30number one knock for the Panthers this offseason
- 1:14:32was, I feel like, personally, they didn't make
- 1:14:35as many investments into the offense as they
- 1:14:37did into the defense. They made a lot of moves
- 1:14:40defensively. But offensively, I'm just like,
- 1:14:43yo, where's the moves at? Granted, they drafted
- 1:14:45Tetrell McMillan, but I wanted them to try to
- 1:14:48make more upgrades from an offensive standpoint.
- 1:14:52I know I was forgetting something when it came
- 1:14:53to safety. Nick Scott and Damani Richardson and
- 1:14:58Latham Ransom. I want to see where, you know,
- 1:15:01where were they at as well? Because Trevon Morig,
- 1:15:03his spot is solidified, okay? He's a free agent
- 1:15:06signing, so he's good. But everybody else, I'm
- 1:15:10not saying that you're on the hot seat, but you
- 1:15:13sort of got to do a little bit more extra just
- 1:15:15so you can, you know, solidify your spot on this
- 1:15:18roster. Going back to the storyline and everything,
- 1:15:22I want to see where Bryce Young is. If he's the
- 1:15:27second or possibly third best quarterback in
- 1:15:29that division, that's a start. But if he's actually
- 1:15:33regressed instead of progressed, now we have
- 1:15:36a problem. But when we look at possible free
- 1:15:40agency additions, if they want to take that route,
- 1:15:43especially for outside linebacker, you have Matthew
- 1:15:45Judon, you have Preston Anzadarius -Smith, you
- 1:15:48have Kaiser White, Duke Riley, Jalen Reeves -Maben,
- 1:15:51you have Kamu Greger -Hill. Wide receiver, if
- 1:15:54you want to take that route, you have Keenan
- 1:15:56Allen, Amar Cooper, Gabe Davis, Nelson Aguilar,
- 1:15:59DJ Chark, Tyler Boyd, Chris Conley, Jameson Crowder.
- 1:16:02Safety, if you want to take that route, you have
- 1:16:04Marcus Williams, Justin Simmons, Jordan Whitehead.
- 1:16:07Quandre Diggs, and Chuck Clark. Now for tackle,
- 1:16:10if you want to bring in competition for Akeem
- 1:16:13Akwanu, you have George Fant, Andreas Peet, Isaiah
- 1:16:16Wynn, Michael Dunn, LaRaven Clark, Chris Hubbard,
- 1:16:19and Jermaine Effetti. For center, if you want
- 1:16:21to bring in competition for him, you have Nick
- 1:16:24Harris, you have Dan Feeney, Nick Gates, Sam
- 1:16:26Mustapher, Shane Lemieux, Wesley French, and
- 1:16:30De 'Ader Eisland. So sure, it's probably not
- 1:16:34the best options, but you want to try to at least
- 1:16:37bring in some competition that can at least nudge
- 1:16:39them that can at least push them into either
- 1:16:42playing better or at least show them or at least
- 1:16:44show you as the team like hey this is where they
- 1:16:47are we're not satisfied with this so we're possibly
- 1:16:50going to make an upgrade via you know free agency
- 1:16:54signing or a trade or just hold it off and possibly
- 1:16:58address it in next year's draft. But let's go
- 1:17:01to the Buccaneers. Let's just end it off with
- 1:17:02a great team, you know, positional battles to
- 1:17:05watch out for, wide receiver, defensive line,
- 1:17:07tackle, and cornerback. So players to keep an
- 1:17:10eye out for, Kalijah Canty, Yaya Diaby, Hassan
- 1:17:13Reddick, Jamal Dean, Benjamin Morrison, Tykee
- 1:17:16Smith, Jacob Parrish, Trey Palmer, Jalen McMillan,
- 1:17:20Sterling Shepard, Charlie Heck, and Ben... I
- 1:17:24think I butchered your last name. If I did, I
- 1:17:26did not mean to do that. But the storyline for
- 1:17:29the Buccaneers is, can this team take the next
- 1:17:31step to becoming true contenders? Because I believe
- 1:17:35they are contenders, but I want them to solidify
- 1:17:38themselves as true contenders. Because me personally,
- 1:17:42and I'll probably talk about this in the next
- 1:17:45episode, I do believe that the Buccaneers are
- 1:17:48a dark horse Super Bowl candidate. I think right
- 1:17:51now on both sides of the ball, they are a really
- 1:17:54good team. And I feel like they could go toe
- 1:17:56-to -toe against the Eagles, Lions, or any of
- 1:17:59the other big -name NFC teams that we all consider
- 1:18:03as Super Bowl teams. Don't hate the message.
- 1:18:05Just hate the game. Just saying. But let's start
- 1:18:08things off with Kalijah Canty. So he's coming
- 1:18:11off of a really good season. You know, he had
- 1:18:13four and a half sacks. Really good. So you see
- 1:18:16the growth. But I want to see more. I want to
- 1:18:18see, are you going to continue to grow moving
- 1:18:22forward? Because I believe Kalaja Kansi could
- 1:18:24possibly be a 8 -12 sack type of defensive lineman.
- 1:18:28He has that skill set, and I think he could definitely
- 1:18:31do it. The only question is, is he going to do
- 1:18:34it this year? Yaya Diaby, I want to see exactly
- 1:18:38where you are. Because right now, I mean, sure,
- 1:18:41you have Hasan Reddick. Sure, you have, you know,
- 1:18:43other pass rushers. But I just want to see, you
- 1:18:45know, can you continue to grow? Is there another
- 1:18:48level to your game? Same thing with Hasan Reddick.
- 1:18:51We all know what happened with the Jets situation.
- 1:18:54I want to see, are you the Hasan Reddick of the
- 1:18:56Eagles or are you the Hasan Reddick of the Jets?
- 1:19:00Which version is the Buccaneers getting? Jamel
- 1:19:03Dean, you're not on the hot seat, but I want
- 1:19:07to see where you are. especially with the Buccaneers
- 1:19:10drafting Benjamin Morrison, I want to see where
- 1:19:13you guys are at this point. Because right now,
- 1:19:16Jamel Dean, although you're probably cornerback
- 1:19:18two, possibly cornerback three, I think you're
- 1:19:20still really productive. So let's see it in training
- 1:19:23camp. Iron sharpens iron, all right? So Benjamin
- 1:19:27Morrison, I want to see where you are. I want
- 1:19:30to see, have you fully healed from that hip injury?
- 1:19:32Because remember, Benjamin Morrison was supposed
- 1:19:35to be a first round pick. He only fell because
- 1:19:38of an injury red flag. Outside of that, his name
- 1:19:42was going to be called in the first round. No
- 1:19:43questions asked. Tykee Smith, want to see where
- 1:19:47you are. Jacob Parrish, they drafted you a few
- 1:19:50years ago in the third round. I want to see where
- 1:19:53you are. Trey Palmer, Jalen McMillan, Sterling
- 1:19:56Shepard. I want to see exactly. Who's going to
- 1:20:01take that next step? Who's going to solidify
- 1:20:03themselves on this team? Especially with Chris
- 1:20:05Godwin still rehabbing that ankle injury, this
- 1:20:08now opens things up between Trey Palmer, Jalen
- 1:20:11McMillan, and Sterling Shepard. Now, granted,
- 1:20:14Sterling Shepard has a relationship with Baker
- 1:20:17Mayfield, so they already have chemistry. But
- 1:20:20I want to see if Trey Palmer is going to take
- 1:20:22that next step, especially Jalen McMillan, because
- 1:20:24they are two really good wide receivers that
- 1:20:27I believe... Prior to the regular season starting,
- 1:20:31I do believe that they're going to get traded.
- 1:20:33Where? I don't know. Now with Charlie Heck and
- 1:20:36Ben Chukwuma, I feel like personally this is
- 1:20:40an opportunity for the both of you guys to showcase
- 1:20:43like, hey, we may not be starting caliber tackles,
- 1:20:46but we are good backup tackles for any other
- 1:20:49team. Because right now with Tristan Works being
- 1:20:52on the pup, I think this opens up an opportunity
- 1:20:54for you guys to showcase yourself. For all 31
- 1:20:57other teams. Because, again, this team is very,
- 1:21:01very, very, and I mean very good. All right?
- 1:21:04Had the Buccaneers made a move to get Jalen Ramsey,
- 1:21:08oh, they're a Super Bowl team. 1 ,000%. I don't
- 1:21:11care what anyone says. They would have been a
- 1:21:13Super Bowl team in my eyes. Because Baker Mayfield
- 1:21:17has been balling out. You already know what you're
- 1:21:19getting with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. I mean,
- 1:21:22come on. What else do they need? for this team.
- 1:21:26Now, I will say this, the defensive line as a
- 1:21:29whole, outside of Vitavia, I want to see, can
- 1:21:32everybody step up to the plate? I want to see
- 1:21:34if everybody can become better. All right, sure,
- 1:21:37they made investments in getting Desmond Watson.
- 1:21:40I want to see what they're going to do with that
- 1:21:42project. I just want to see this defensive line
- 1:21:44become more formidable and how it was a few years
- 1:21:49ago when they won the championship with Brady.
- 1:21:51But we'll look at possible free agency additions
- 1:21:54if you want to take that route. Cornerback, as
- 1:21:56I've said before, you have James Bradbury, Kendall
- 1:21:58Fuller, Stephon Gilmore, Rasul Douglas, Mike
- 1:22:01Hilton, CJ Henderson. Tackle, you have George
- 1:22:04Fant, Andreas Peet, Isaiah Wynn, Michael Dunn,
- 1:22:06Raven Clark, Chris Hubbard, Jermaine Nefedi.
- 1:22:09Wide receiver, if you want to take that route,
- 1:22:11Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, Gabe Davis, Nelson
- 1:22:13Aguilar, DJ Char, Tiger Boyd, Chris Conley, Jameson
- 1:22:16Crowder. In defensive line, if you want to take
- 1:22:18that route, as I've said before, you have Jadeveon
- 1:22:21Clowney, Raekwon Davis, Demarcus Walker, Montrevious
- 1:22:23Adams, Jerry Hughes, Linval Joseph, and Maurice
- 1:22:26Hurst. I want to end this episode here. If you
