- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's. Adam here.
- 0:42And in today's episode of The Hypnotist, you could be
- 0:45listening to a negotiation themed hypnosis session.
- 0:49And it was. Created.
- 0:51For a client that was wanting to leave a certain career to
- 0:58sidestep into a different version, a different role within
- 1:03the same industry that potentially could enrich their
- 1:07life a lot. But they wanted to negotiate
- 1:10from a real position of strength the the the role they were
- 1:15applying for. The person didn't know that they
- 1:18were really dissatisfied with their current role.
- 1:20So there's an element here of playing two strings, having
- 1:24absolute clarity of the value that they can give, but also a
- 1:28sense of what makes it a win win for everyone involved.
- 1:33And there was certain elements of future pacing, of mental
- 1:37rehearsal, of seeing the negotiation go exactly as they
- 1:40want, of preparing in the right way.
- 1:43And I would say that this will be a very useful hypnosis
- 1:46session if there is something that you are planning on
- 1:49negotiating or want to negotiate.
- 1:52And I think negotiation can be a really fun thing, but it's more
- 1:59fun if you've got clarity to what you want and also what
- 2:03you're not willing to tolerate. And I think where people lose in
- 2:07negotiation is if they are confused about what they want
- 2:12and very quick to concede on those things that actually they
- 2:17would really like. So that's what's going on here.
- 2:21And even if you're not planning on negotiating anything, what's
- 2:24to stop you from initiating that?
- 2:26Like if you are an employee, you could ask for a meeting to
- 2:31discuss your role and try and negotiate a pay rise or an
- 2:34increase in responsibility. Or it might be that you've got
- 2:37an idea for a business or a joint venture, and you could
- 2:39reach out and negotiate that with someone else.
- 2:41So negotiation, I think, is such a valuable skill.
- 2:44The reason that most people don't do it is that it feels
- 2:47daunting. It feels that there is the
- 2:50ability to lose and you're risking stuff.
- 2:53But if you've got a playful, optimistic attitude to
- 2:56negotiating, you get to enrich the quality of your life pretty
- 3:00quick by figuring out how you can help other people and in
- 3:04doing so, also get that value for yourself.
- 3:08And that's a true win win outcome.
- 3:09And negotiation that has this element of win, lose really ends
- 3:15up being a. Lose.
- 3:16Lose because. Nobody is going to sustain
- 3:19whatever that arrangement is, so you want to make it so it's good
- 3:22for you and good for whoever you're negotiating with.
- 3:25So there's elements of strategy, of communication, of even
- 3:30closing techniques, but also this element of doing it from a
- 3:34place of strength and passion and value.
- 3:39So think about that thing that you can negotiate, find a quiet,
- 3:42comfortable place and relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:24Take deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 4:33slow, long, calm, relaxing breath.
- 4:38And as you exhale, give yourself permission to just let go, to
- 4:47let go of any tension, any stress, any worries.
- 4:59And when you breathe in, breathe in deeper than you normally
- 5:04would. And as you exhale, exhale for
- 5:11longer, allowing yourself to release any tension there in
- 5:18your neck and your shoulders, your jaw.
- 5:22Allow your breathing to slow. Allow yourself to drift to that
- 5:28place of pure relaxation. And I want you to allow yourself
- 5:39to do what you can only do in your imagination, to play with
- 5:45time. And I want you to imagine
- 5:50staring into a sand timer. Maybe it has that wooden bracket
- 6:03holding the glass sand timer. Or maybe it's just made of
- 6:08glass, almost like the shape of a figure of eight coloured sand
- 6:16in one side. And just imagine turning the
- 6:23sand timer over and seeing the tiny grains of sand fall from
- 6:34the top to the bottom and focus your attention on those tiny
- 6:41grains of sand. And as you focus on the sand
- 6:52falling from the top to the bottom, I want you to get a
- 6:56sense the time in a three-dimensional world is
- 7:02linear. It can only go forwards.
- 7:08But your imagination isn't bound by the laws of three dimensions.
- 7:15You can jump back to the past or imagine a future, and I want you
- 7:21to imagine the grains of sand speeding up.
- 7:26And as you stare into the grains of sand, I want you to imagine a
- 7:33beautiful future. Six years from now.
- 7:39I want you to imagine how you would feel to have just sold a
- 7:50property you've hold onto for a long time.
- 7:58The value of that property has increased, but because of the
- 8:02time frame in which you sold it, it enabled you to be renting it
- 8:08out for a long period of time, living somewhere else, but also
- 8:16selling it in a very tax advantageous way.
- 8:22And you did this. Your thoughts, your ideas, your
- 8:28strategy enabled you to keep that appreciating asset, have
- 8:35more freedom, increase your income and still sell the
- 8:40property in a way that gives your life even more freedom.
- 8:50And I want you to imagine you are celebrating this new chapter
- 8:56in your life that we can call freedom by having a luxurious
- 9:02holiday somewhere you've always wanted to go to.
- 9:08And I wonder if you could imagine being in that place,
- 9:13feeling as you would to have this incredible sensation of
- 9:20feeling financially, not just free but liberated, that you
- 9:26have all of these options and choices.
- 9:31And I want you to think of a specific place in that
- 9:36celebratory holiday that you might be relaxing.
- 9:40And when you find yourself in that place, maybe by a pool or
- 9:44by a beach, maybe somewhere else, let me know by nodding
- 9:48your head and imagine wearing whatever clothing is appropriate
- 9:56to be in that place. And maybe there's blue skies and
- 10:00sunshine, maybe the sound of water.
- 10:04But allow yourself to feel a deep sense of freedom and
- 10:10relaxation. In fact, very soon I'm going to
- 10:15countdown from 12:50 and I want you to imagine being in that
- 10:19place in your future, a future that you designed, feeling that
- 10:26you're about to drift into a dream like sleep and think of a
- 10:31chain reaction that led to exactly where you are.
- 10:37So feeling relaxed in this place, 10 Just relaxing all the
- 10:42muscles in your forehead, 9 Releasing any tension in your
- 10:52jaw. 8 When you breathe in, breathe in deeper and as you
- 10:56exhale, release all the tension in your neck and your shoulders.
- 11:01That's it. 7 Just allow your arms to feel so limp, loose and
- 11:09heavy. That's it. 6 As you breathe in,
- 11:15allow your lungs to relax and everything connected to
- 11:19breathing so you can breathe deeper and longer.
- 11:23But it feels effortless, feels so calm and relaxing.
- 11:30That's it. And then five, release any
- 11:33tension in any other internal organs.
- 11:37Feel your heart relaxing, your stomach relaxing your diaphragm,
- 11:45and feel that you're relaxing from the inside out.
- 11:50That's it. And then it goes down from 5,
- 11:55when you release any tension in your gut, down to four, filling
- 12:00your legs get limp, loose and heavy, just like your arms.
- 12:06Three, That relaxation spreads down into your calf muscles.
- 12:11The deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become.
- 12:13And then two, down into your feet.
- 12:17And one, feel a ripple of relaxation from the tips of your
- 12:20toes all the way up your body to the top of your head and then
- 12:24down to your fingertips. And imagine having a dream like
- 12:31sleep, a nap in that future vacation where you think about a
- 12:39specific negotiation that led to this future moment of freedom.
- 12:47But I want you to see yourself like you're someone else, like
- 12:54you're someone in a movie. And I want you to see yourself
- 13:01preparing for that negotiation, preparing for that negotiation
- 13:06by figuring out any analysis, any data, any key things that
- 13:14can create a compelling reason. Maybe you've drafted some things
- 13:23that would make it more or less appealing.
- 13:26Questions you can ask to find that synergy, to find that win,
- 13:32win outcome. And then I want you to imagine
- 13:37seeing yourself arrive at the Lagosian location of that
- 13:42negotiation, but see how you're dressed, your facial
- 13:47expressions, your body language. This is someone exuding rock
- 13:55solid confidence. No Fear of loss, no begging bowl
- 14:03of please choose me. This is someone with rock solid
- 14:10confidence that knows their value, that knows their earning
- 14:17capabilities. I don't want you to see yourself
- 14:24in a state of relaxation, confidence and focused
- 14:29concentration. Friendly but not fawning.
- 14:38Confident but not arrogant. See yourself in the optimal
- 14:45state for this negotiation and I want you to see how you
- 14:53communicate. Not throwing down demands, but
- 14:59having a friendly conversation that is confident, asking
- 15:04questions, being vulnerable when you need to and very stoic when
- 15:11you don't. And I want you to see how it
- 15:15goes. If it went exactly as you would
- 15:20want it to go. Notice the questions you're
- 15:31asking. Notice that any discussions
- 15:37about money seem to be flowing natural.
- 15:49Some people see negotiations as a win lose battle.
- 15:55But the best negotiations don't try and carve up a small pie.
- 16:02The best negotiations just bake a bigger pie and if this
- 16:10negotiation goes well, it's good for you and it's good for them
- 16:14because there is more for everyone.
- 16:19I want you to see how you always steer the conversation towards a
- 16:23win win outcome beneficial for everyone.
- 16:30Yes, there is a walkway level that it's just not viable and
- 16:38maybe you communicate a walk away level consciously or
- 16:42unconsciously higher than your actual level to build a buffer.
- 16:49See yourself negotiating the way that billionaires negotiate.
- 16:56See yourself with that confidence, directness, but also
- 17:07a willingness to find a deal. I want you to see this
- 17:15negotiating coming to its natural close.
- 17:21And don't be surprised if you see yourself making an
- 17:27invitation to help them out in some way, to make whatever
- 17:31happens next easier. To create something, write
- 17:36something, draft something. Maybe there's a discussion about
- 17:44time frames and maybe you see yourself asking the question.
- 17:53Well, if not now, then when? I want you to get a sense then
- 18:05at some level you know you are suited for this role and they do
- 18:12too. So whether it's said out loud or
- 18:16just implied, the underlying question is if not you, then
- 18:26who? And the lack of a viable
- 18:31alternative strengthens your negotiating hand.
- 18:39You also get to ask yourself a question.
- 18:43If not this, then what? And by having alternatives that
- 18:50are also appealing strengthens your negotiating hand.
- 18:57I want you to get a sense that you are in a strong position and
- 19:03with you imagine an agreement being made then or in a meeting
- 19:08that follows, you get a sense that it's all going to work out
- 19:13fine because you're remembering this from your future and your
- 19:20future is a wonderful future. I want you to feel that you
- 19:24don't need this, you just want this.
- 19:28And if this doesn't work out, something better will.
- 19:34And that gives you the ability to negotiate from a position of
- 19:40strength. And imagine that the
- 19:43negotiations go well. You find that win win outcome
- 19:48that's good for you and good for them.
- 19:51And imagine the years that follow, all the value you create
- 19:57for them, but also the changes in your life.
- 20:03Maybe you're living in a different city.
- 20:08Maybe you have a better work life balance, maybe there's more
- 20:13time for family and friends, and maybe there's more time to do
- 20:21the things that you've always wanted to do as you recognize
- 20:27that for a long time you've been burning the candle at both ends.
- 20:30And maybe this is a new chapter, a chapter of earning well, but
- 20:39having the time to enjoy a good quality of life, see you
- 20:48thriving in the role, not just doing well, but doing incredibly
- 20:53well. Good for you, good for others,
- 20:57and see how that evolves to other things that you do on the
- 21:01side that are also steering you towards this life of freedom and
- 21:08adventure. And if you get a sense that this
- 21:16chain reaction feels like a positive chain reaction, that
- 21:23one good negotiation could steal your life in a wonderful
- 21:28direction. But even if it doesn't, you can
- 21:33still take your life in this similar direction with other
- 21:38vehicles. The idea that there is only one
- 21:44way to get to a destination seems ludicrous when you think
- 21:49about physical travel. If you think about getting from
- 21:54one city to another city, you can fly, you can drive and catch
- 22:00a bus, maybe a train, that if one vehicle isn't possible,
- 22:06there are simply other vehicles that get you to exactly the same
- 22:10place. You want this, but you don't
- 22:15need this. And if you feel that you can
- 22:19position yourself as invaluable, but also feel that you can
- 22:30negotiate from a position of strength, let me know.
- 22:32By nodding your head, feel that you are planting seeds in your
- 22:38unconscious mind that will give you the very resources you need
- 22:44exactly when you need them. Things are going to go well.
- 22:50Your life is going to get better and better, and irrespective of
- 22:55how you get to this future of freedom, you are absolutely
- 23:01certain that you will. So imagine being now, back in
- 23:08that future celebratory vacation, awakening from your
- 23:17dreamlike nap, and get a sense that things feel optimistic for
- 23:26you now because you know where you're heading.
- 23:30More choices, more options, more freedom, more flexibility,
- 23:36simply a more enjoyable life. And as you hold that thought,
- 23:42take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 23:46nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 23:49wiggle your toes. Connect with the here and the
