- 2:40Speaker 6: I am your host at Johnson. I am happy to
- 2:43Speaker 6: be back. This is my second season on the Crew podcast,
- 2:50Speaker 6: and the first season I was working through it. I
- 2:56Speaker 6: had to work through my jitters. On to night, me
- 3:01Speaker 6: and Cornell will be going taking a look inside of TDCJ,
- 3:07Speaker 6: which is Texas. We're gonna go inside of there. We've
- 3:11Speaker 6: been getting quite a few feet complaints and stuff about
- 3:21Speaker 6: what's going on inside of the prison system over there
- 3:26Speaker 6: in Texas. But until Cornell call and oh and we
- 3:34Speaker 6: also also mister Legate will be joining us as well,
- 3:40Speaker 6: because he has some things that he had to talk
- 3:44Speaker 6: about about what's going on where he's at. He's also
- 3:49Speaker 6: in the state of Texas. And I believe I have
- 3:52Speaker 6: one more guest that's going to join me on tonight,
- 3:58Speaker 6: mister young mister with sixteen when he did his committed
- 4:07Speaker 6: his crime, and he has served over forty years inside
- 4:13Speaker 6: of Texas State Prison. He's also going to be joining
- 4:17Speaker 6: me on this evening, but once again, but until they
- 4:23Speaker 6: give me a call, because we all know how the
- 4:26Speaker 6: phone systems work in there. Sometimes they can get a
- 4:30Speaker 6: call out, sometimes they jam the phones. Sometimes it's just
- 4:35Speaker 6: it's just hard to get in touch with you get
- 4:39Speaker 6: in touch with us. But let me tell you about
- 4:43Speaker 6: my weekend. So as everyone knows, my husband is currently
- 4:53Speaker 6: incarcerated wrongfully in Denver, Colorado. I had the I was
- 5:04Speaker 6: able to fly out on Thursday morning for a special
- 5:11Speaker 6: visit to see him. And when I got there, when
- 5:15Speaker 6: I walked off that plane, I couldn't believe it, it
- 5:20Speaker 6: was six degrees six degrees. It felt like I was
- 5:25Speaker 6: insight of a freezer. But once I got able to
- 5:34Speaker 6: got to the prison where I was able to see him,
- 5:37Speaker 6: I felt so much better, you know, just to see
- 5:41Speaker 6: the smile on his face and it just warmed me up.
- 5:47Speaker 6: I was able to visit him Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
- 5:54Speaker 6: so as long as I was in town, I was
- 5:57Speaker 6: able to go and visit him. Yesterday was a little
- 6:04Speaker 6: hard for the both of us. When it was time
- 6:09Speaker 6: to leave. Usually we look back at each other because
- 6:14Speaker 6: we know I was coming back the next day. But yesterday,
- 6:17Speaker 6: he when he walked out, he just he didn't look back.
- 6:24Speaker 6: So that was a little hard, but it was it
- 6:32Speaker 6: was enjoyable, enjoyable just to sit there and talk to
- 6:36Speaker 6: him and talk to the other guys that was there.
- 6:43Speaker 6: I mean, just to see them interact with their family
- 6:45Speaker 6: because some of them, by them being like probably about
- 6:52Speaker 6: two hours away from their family, they don't get the visits.
- 6:58Speaker 6: And by me being in californ you know, it all
- 7:03Speaker 6: depends on when I'll give vacation time to go over
- 7:07Speaker 6: and visit while but I keep we stay on the
- 7:10Speaker 6: phone all day and constantly talk, just keep in touch
- 7:21Speaker 6: with each other. Then this morning I flew back in
- 7:28Speaker 6: and so now I'm at home and I'm here with
- 7:32Speaker 6: you guys, just sitting up here, just waiting to call.
- 7:42Speaker 6: But let me tell you what else we got going
- 7:44Speaker 6: on over here at the Crew podcast. If you are
- 7:48Speaker 6: an author, I suggest that you come on and join
- 7:55Speaker 6: the one hundred Arthur movement over here with us where
- 8:00Speaker 6: we over here networking sellings, sharing our brands. You know,
- 8:05Speaker 6: you guys don't want to miss out on an opportunity
- 8:09Speaker 6: to you know, share your brand. And then as we
- 8:13Speaker 6: also annoyed, you know, it's hard to come find black authors,
- 8:23Speaker 6: and me being connected with Angela, she had wide mind.
- 8:33Speaker 6: I got my perspective and there's a lot of arthurs
- 8:38Speaker 6: out there. There's a lot of good arthurs out there.
- 8:41Speaker 6: Prepaid account or an offender prepaid. Thank you for using
- 8:45Speaker 6: and got the conversation.
- 8:47Speaker 7: Now.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Well, Hello Cordell, Hello, ma'am, how are you doing tonight?
- 8:53Speaker 6: I am doing good. I was just sitting up here
- 8:55Speaker 6: for the last six minutes just mbling on and I
- 8:58Speaker 6: know everybody was waiting to hear from Cornell. So how
- 9:04Speaker 6: have you been doing, Cornell, ma'am?
- 9:08Speaker 1: I'm doing great tonight them and I'm alive, and thank god,
- 9:12Speaker 1: I'm way yeade, ma'am, And tonight I like the beautiful man.
- 9:18Speaker 6: And you and I'm doing one wonderful as you. I
- 9:22Speaker 6: was just telling them. I just flew back in from
- 9:24Speaker 6: Denver from seeing Juan, so I am back and I'm
- 9:29Speaker 6: ready to get you know, let's get this work that
- 9:35Speaker 6: keep keep continuously being a voice for the ones that
- 9:39Speaker 6: doesn't have a voice. We was waiting on mister Legate
- 9:43Speaker 6: to come in, but mister Legate haven't called yet. I
- 9:47Speaker 6: know that when I talked to mister Legate last week,
- 9:51Speaker 6: he was telling me that a situation was going on
- 9:59Speaker 6: over there where he's at, where the the CEOs is
- 10:05Speaker 6: really not doing their jobs. That since there's a lot
- 10:08Speaker 6: of drugs coming in there and that the men's is
- 10:11Speaker 6: caught with drugs, they expect for the other inmates to
- 10:16Speaker 6: discipline them.
- 10:18Speaker 3: You know.
- 10:20Speaker 6: Yeah, So he been over there dealing with that. They've
- 10:25Speaker 6: basically been on lockdown, and and he wanted to come
- 10:32Speaker 6: on and he wanted to share about, you know, what
- 10:36Speaker 6: was going on over there where he's at. But I
- 10:42Speaker 6: just wanted to go ahead. Let me go ahead and
- 10:45Speaker 6: just read this right quick. Texas have over one hundred
- 10:50Speaker 6: and four prisons, that's including state, federal, private, and juvenile facilities.
- 11:02Speaker 6: Texas is the largest runs the largest prison system, second
- 11:10Speaker 6: it to California. So California is you know, California and
- 11:16Speaker 6: Texas is running neck and neck. They also Texas also
- 11:22Speaker 6: house one hundred and thirty four thousand and sixty six
- 11:31Speaker 6: sixty six prisoners at their facilities and California house more.
- 11:40Speaker 6: So those are the two top states that have more prisons,
- 11:47Speaker 6: and they also house more offenders. Let's see, Texas have
- 11:57Speaker 6: eighteen federal prisons and let me see, and they have
- 12:06Speaker 6: they employed thirty six thousand. They have thirty six thousand
- 12:11Speaker 6: employees running their facilities. But right now, me and Cortnell,
- 12:18Speaker 6: we're gonna bring you up to bring you guys up
- 12:23Speaker 6: to date, because, as you guys know it, Cornell had
- 12:27Speaker 6: made parole and we're just waiting for Cornell to them
- 12:32Speaker 6: doors to open up for him, but they have transferred
- 12:36Speaker 6: him to demingus unit. So I'm gonna let Cortnell go
- 12:40Speaker 6: ahead and fill you guys in on that.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Well, yes, s'am, thanks you very much. Yess'am. I have
- 12:46Speaker 1: abol and I have to trumsfer to the division. Guess
- 12:49Speaker 1: they facility that they call this a rehabilitation program. And
- 12:55Speaker 1: just being here, you're gonna have learned a lot about
- 12:58Speaker 1: you know, being ready back society, even though it's not
- 13:02Speaker 1: the best program in the world. Steal some new information
- 13:05Speaker 1: to learn, now, okay, And like I said, since been
- 13:08Speaker 1: here from what I have already been the Negatives, which
- 13:12Speaker 1: is the true podcast, and let's talk about it and
- 13:15Speaker 1: the platform that you guys have. You know, I have
- 13:17Speaker 1: been a positives who wants.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Over here with you guys, and they guys love me, okay,
- 13:22Speaker 5: and they respect me for who I am because you know,
- 13:25Speaker 5: like you say, we know.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Avocates for criminal justice reforming.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Not only that we speak on behalf of everybody.
- 13:30Speaker 1: So you know they love me over here. So with
- 13:33Speaker 1: that being said, ma'am, I'm doing all right. Uh, yes, ma'am,
- 13:36Speaker 1: So tonight's still basically we're gonna be talking about we
- 13:40Speaker 1: were as versus a still Federals class action civil lawsuit
- 13:45Speaker 1: that transformed the prism uh Letiedition Reforms uh uh, the
- 13:50Speaker 1: Texas Reform Legations Act Okay. And basically, as he was
- 13:55Speaker 1: just identifying, ma'am, the number.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Of prisons that we have to see was out the
- 14:00Speaker 3: number of.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Prisons we started out with, right, okay. And Texas started
- 14:05Speaker 1: out with twelve prison systems from nineteen seventy six up
- 14:09Speaker 1: until nineteen seventy nine or seventy eight okay, and then
- 14:15Speaker 1: they went on to include a couple more.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Part of facilities Okay.
- 14:20Speaker 1: In nineteen ninety one ninety two they came in to
- 14:25Speaker 1: start build up prison and this spot they now have
- 14:30Speaker 1: a number of prisons just have identified it now, okay,
- 14:34Speaker 1: But tonight it showed basically not to say, we're gonna
- 14:37Speaker 1: be talking about you red versus sales stipulation case and
- 14:40Speaker 1: uh and your opinion.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Madam.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Do you have anything any questions you may want to
- 14:43Speaker 1: ask about it before I get started?
- 14:46Speaker 6: Well, I just wanted to know basically, you gave me
- 14:49Speaker 6: a little brief. Then we talked a little bit about it.
- 14:57Speaker 6: You know, I couldn't. I really didn't read the the
- 15:03Speaker 6: the case because I had mid turns and I did
- 15:09Speaker 6: pass my mid terms. I did pass my mid turn
- 15:12Speaker 6: so we got that out the way and then by
- 15:15Speaker 6: me flying to Denver, so I wasn't really I didn't
- 15:21Speaker 6: really put the work in to read the case. And
- 15:24Speaker 6: then I had, you know, other the men's was calling
- 15:28Speaker 6: me check it in and you know, letting me know
- 15:30Speaker 6: what was going on with them.
- 15:32Speaker 7: So you know, just.
- 15:35Speaker 6: Right, just let us know about the about the case.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Okay, Okay.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Now, when I come to prison nineteen seventy eight, nineteen
- 15:45Speaker 1: seventy when we came to put my prison system was
- 15:47Speaker 1: basically at the lord that you could get the system.
- 15:52Speaker 1: My prison conditions was the all for the most degreat
- 15:56Speaker 1: uh conditions that anybody could live in. And back we
- 16:00Speaker 1: had you know, American City if they's unions and different
- 16:03Speaker 1: organizations being allowed to come in and check on innates and.
- 16:06Speaker 7: You know, stuff like that to see what the prisoner
- 16:08Speaker 7: was like.
- 16:09Speaker 1: But still a lot of things are not being you know, okay,
- 16:13Speaker 1: our medical departments, they were basically not running to the
- 16:17Speaker 1: capacity that they needed to provide people with the proper
- 16:20Speaker 1: medical care commedia Okay. Inmates were saying the highest rate
- 16:24Speaker 1: that event because of team related incidents and you know,
- 16:28Speaker 1: not forgiven proper medical assistance, and you know, individ was
- 16:31Speaker 1: being shot up different types of medications that were not
- 16:36Speaker 1: suitable for them and they were dying from that. And
- 16:39Speaker 1: then not only that back then was like you know,
- 16:43Speaker 1: because of over crowding. Process was saying there was three
- 16:47Speaker 1: inmates told sales okay, and when three inmates to sale,
- 16:52Speaker 1: they were so overcrowded back then that in nineteen seventy
- 16:55Speaker 1: two were in all of clarisisfaction lawsuits about the condition.
- 17:02Speaker 6: Hold on, hold on, Cornell, We got we we got
- 17:08Speaker 6: a visitor just stepped in. Our our good friend, mister
- 17:15Speaker 6: James Legate has joined us. Okay, mister Legate.
- 17:22Speaker 7: Forgive Hello, Hello, Hello, forgiving her coming party. But I
- 17:28Speaker 7: didn't have a call to this pone. It's not recognizing
- 17:31Speaker 7: my voice forever.
- 17:32Speaker 6: Reason, you know what, mister Legate, That's okay. Cornell's told
- 17:37Speaker 6: me that yesterday when he did. I believe it was yesterday.
- 17:41Speaker 6: I talked to Cornell. He said that it wasn't the
- 17:45Speaker 6: phone wasn't recognizing his voice as well. But you know,
- 17:48Speaker 6: I did explain to our listeners that you know, sometimes
- 17:53Speaker 6: it's hard for you guys to get through to us.
- 17:56Speaker 6: But that's okay. We're still going to push it. We're
- 17:58Speaker 6: gonna still make it, go through it. And I gave
- 18:00Speaker 6: him a little background of what was going on with
- 18:05Speaker 6: over there were the facility that you located, and Cornell
- 18:10Speaker 6: was giving us a little background on the case. So
- 18:14Speaker 6: now we all caught up.
- 18:16Speaker 7: And so.
- 18:18Speaker 6: Again, mister Legate, I'm gonna go ahead and you introduce
- 18:22Speaker 6: yourself and then we're gonna jump right back into the case.
- 18:26Speaker 7: Hello, okay, thank you forget me for being made and hello,
- 18:31Speaker 7: my name is Change. We gave the common unit it
- 18:34Speaker 7: be the Texes and I'm glad to be here. Thank
- 18:36Speaker 7: you for having me.
- 18:37Speaker 6: Shun you doing drum?
- 18:40Speaker 1: Okay, sir, how you're doing at all?
- 18:42Speaker 7: Back, great, great man, I'll back there too.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Hello.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Hello, okay, okay, Well I was training to the audience.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So the ruin person the sale stipulation of prison litigation
- 18:58Speaker 1: reform James right, and I was basically saying that that's
- 19:01Speaker 1: through where that bill of class Actions Civil laws because
- 19:04Speaker 1: of the conditions that inmates were being coursed upon them,
- 19:07Speaker 1: these conditions that vib late to eight Amendment rights of
- 19:10Speaker 1: inmates because we were being denied proper medical assistance, were overpowered.
- 19:15Speaker 3: People were sleeping on draws, people.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Were sweeping on the box, and you know, our facilities
- 19:20Speaker 1: were just degrading, and the state Detexas was not putting
- 19:23Speaker 1: enough money into the prison system in order to aliviate
- 19:26Speaker 1: the problems. So the class Action Litigations actor was only
- 19:30Speaker 1: desired to release the op problem of inmates. Okay, back
- 19:34Speaker 1: then there was that ninety five percent capacity. So what
- 19:37Speaker 1: happened then when you got the ninety four percent capacity,
- 19:41Speaker 1: that all the prinon systems had to be shut down
- 19:44Speaker 1: and that was forcing them to at least all of
- 19:46Speaker 1: the inmates who were overcoming they feel right back up.
- 19:50Speaker 1: So the prison litigations that it only allowed them to
- 19:54Speaker 1: be able to come from federal guidelines to state guidelines,
- 19:59Speaker 1: and when they've done that, the safe guidelines have allowed
- 20:01Speaker 1: them to shine around and rebuild more prison systems. So
- 20:05Speaker 1: now the prison's capacity is that one hundred and fifty
- 20:08Speaker 1: percent capensity.
- 20:10Speaker 3: So being that they have fill up more.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Prisons and help build these prisoners up, they are trying
- 20:15Speaker 1: to get away from the idea of claiming to be overcrowded.
- 20:19Speaker 1: But our prison conditions are just as messed up to.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Day as they were back then, because the toilets don't work.
- 20:26Speaker 7: The toilets are over blood, the shoe but don't.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Work, the sinks don't work, the water's contaminated and made
- 20:31Speaker 1: the diamond from all different types of bacteriavor in the
- 20:34Speaker 1: water and catching all punchs of.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Diseases and stuff like this.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So now, because our state residencies are responsible for the
- 20:42Speaker 1: fundings that's being provided to the prison system, they are
- 20:45Speaker 1: laying on their jobs now because they're not doing anything
- 20:49Speaker 1: to be able to put the funder their prison systems
- 20:52Speaker 1: that's needed.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know, you know we're.
- 20:54Speaker 6: At and you know, I believe I talked to both
- 20:58Speaker 6: you and mister Legate. Well when you got to Dominica
- 21:03Speaker 6: was telling us that they was washing the trays in
- 21:10Speaker 6: trash cams and that you guys didn't have no hot water.
- 21:14Speaker 6: They didn't have no hot water where they can just
- 21:17Speaker 6: wash the trays. They was just dipping the trays and
- 21:20Speaker 6: water that has a little bleach in it. I believe
- 21:22Speaker 6: that's what one of the guys had told me. That's
- 21:25Speaker 6: how they was cleaning the trays. Mister Legate, Can you
- 21:29Speaker 6: let us know what's going on with over there with
- 21:33Speaker 6: at the facility that you're at.
- 21:37Speaker 7: Right well, you know, uh, the interview the little stuff
- 21:40Speaker 7: that uh that I was talking about it sure about
- 21:43Speaker 7: the dishwashing that we have the samp out of here.
- 21:46Speaker 7: The dishwashers don't work period, all right, So what they
- 21:49Speaker 7: do is they got at it. Were supposed to have
- 21:52Speaker 7: bleached you, but you know, nan disappears so because you
- 21:56Speaker 7: want to rinkt it off with the with the with
- 21:58Speaker 7: the wash and just having out springs like that. That
- 22:02Speaker 7: continues to go on now and when the reason balls
- 22:05Speaker 7: who started there wasn't that many units. They were talking
- 22:08Speaker 7: about twenty four thousand, five hundred and seventy five inmates
- 22:12Speaker 7: total system. Four percent of that Doltner were females because
- 22:17Speaker 7: there was two female units and there was sixteen male units.
- 22:21Speaker 7: Now within the years of the time because of the
- 22:24Speaker 7: building tenders, the lack of love my Ferry and psych medication,
- 22:29Speaker 7: of psych evaluations and dealing with the unconditional conditions of
- 22:33Speaker 7: the confinement. That's what David Release and several other offenders
- 22:37Speaker 7: built into a class actions against GDC J, which was
- 22:41Speaker 7: supposed to be if that's been over thirty years, it wasn't.
- 22:45Speaker 7: A team of maybe two thousand and one GDC finally
- 22:48Speaker 7: said hey, you know, let us call. We're going to
- 22:49Speaker 7: keep up the wets and we're never going to violate
- 22:52Speaker 7: these stipulations. That's a lie because within time that you
- 22:56Speaker 7: can see, it's already been violated. Now in the unit,
- 23:00Speaker 7: it became system wide. It's und the table it I
- 23:03Speaker 7: know local reddit about any time a defender is caught
- 23:09Speaker 7: with either either on drugs or whatever, you know, any
- 23:12Speaker 7: kind of country band, they're gonna lock down that unit,
- 23:14Speaker 7: that section of the of the prisons for fifteen days.
- 23:17Speaker 7: They're gonna punish everybody for one bad apple.
- 23:19Speaker 3: So what they're doing is.
- 23:20Speaker 7: They're they're taking away your TV, and they're taking away
- 23:23Speaker 7: your commissaries. They're taking away your your your phone calls,
- 23:26Speaker 7: your vegetations. And this is creating a problem because in
- 23:30Speaker 7: the nutshell, they're trying to say, hey, well, look, we
- 23:33Speaker 7: need to stop all these people doing, we need to
- 23:35Speaker 7: stop drugs going on. So what we're gonna do is
- 23:39Speaker 7: just to take care of it, even though they're not
- 23:41Speaker 7: perfectly saying it. When you're punishing another inmate for what
- 23:46Speaker 7: another inmate does, you deprivate him of all forms of
- 23:50Speaker 7: new process through the mechanism of displinary all right, and
- 23:54Speaker 7: they made this part of Rui's stipulations. And so what
- 23:57Speaker 7: happens now and create the problem with these offenders because
- 24:01Speaker 7: now my mother, my grandfather or anybody, my wife, my kids,
- 24:04Speaker 7: they're all going.
- 24:04Speaker 5: To come visit me.
- 24:05Speaker 7: Some guy clucks up and now I can't give my
- 24:08Speaker 7: visit because this guy so of course, because you're made
- 24:13Speaker 7: him up for do whatever the scenariohood. But what's also
- 24:17Speaker 7: gonna happen is that Germany can help them too, and
- 24:22Speaker 7: if thenother offender wants to, he can actually press charges
- 24:25Speaker 7: on it. And so now you're going to have an
- 24:27Speaker 7: assault charge and it's going to be a stack sentence.
- 24:30Speaker 7: TDT is going to say, no, we're not doing that.
- 24:33Speaker 7: We're not we're not condoning that type of action. When
- 24:36Speaker 7: you root get it, they really are. It actually violates
- 24:40Speaker 7: their whole policy. They got an AD's eighty eight three
- 24:44Speaker 7: oh two what you Administrative Directive Writers and Provisible Health
- 24:49Speaker 7: under content. In other words, it says contender shall not
- 24:53Speaker 7: submit orders or instructions from staff from a staff member
- 24:56Speaker 7: to another offender. Okay, so now this is what they're
- 24:59Speaker 7: trying to say. They're doing because it's bad. So their
- 25:03Speaker 7: vibration right there, it says recommend actions for again it's
- 25:06Speaker 7: for own to get any privilege to another offender. Well
- 25:10Speaker 7: you're telling them, look, it's if you continue this, we're
- 25:14Speaker 7: gonna beat you up because now you're taking away my privilege.
- 25:16Speaker 7: You see, TDH has this policy when they're doing and
- 25:21Speaker 7: it's Broni Caller who with the director of GDCJ, they
- 25:25Speaker 7: implemented this policy. In other words, also orders got together.
- 25:28Speaker 7: What the directors are saying, Look, you got a baked
- 25:30Speaker 7: a problem in the system that's causing a lot of deaths.
- 25:34Speaker 7: So when you call us all these dands, what happens?
- 25:37Speaker 7: They don't have no justification. They try to say, well,
- 25:39Speaker 7: with the cardiac cares. Whatever it was there, it was
- 25:41Speaker 7: that well. Actually, if people were wise, if they were
- 25:45Speaker 7: going to have their sons or daughter or whatever have
- 25:48Speaker 7: an octop feeling and find out why did they die?
- 25:51Speaker 7: Because yes, K two cause cardiac rist But if they're
- 25:55Speaker 7: you young, why they die? They shouldn't have to die
- 25:59Speaker 7: like this. They're just drug addicts and a lot of people.
- 26:01Speaker 7: I can't admit, there's a lot of people that are
- 26:03Speaker 7: drug addicts in this penitentiary. And I'm not talking about
- 26:06Speaker 7: just you this year. They don't copy system wide. You
- 26:09Speaker 7: see what I'm saying. But now now comes to question
- 26:12Speaker 7: who's giving them the drugs? If they know that these
- 26:15Speaker 7: drug addicts and that people are going to get punished
- 26:18Speaker 7: for what these drug addicts do, all right, they need
- 26:21Speaker 7: to also consider it for who's supplying it. If you're
- 26:24Speaker 7: giving it to this person knowing that he's a drug
- 26:26Speaker 7: addicgn knowing that he made me cause this problem, for
- 26:28Speaker 7: their contributing to this factory, which is really a sad,
- 26:33Speaker 7: sad situation because who's right and who's what. I can't
- 26:37Speaker 7: tell another man how to do his time. I cannot
- 26:39Speaker 7: do that.
- 26:42Speaker 6: And so I believe, I believe talk.
- 26:49Speaker 1: About second job. Okay, okay, I'm going up the line
- 26:53Speaker 1: that I gave him and has spend more money on
- 26:55Speaker 1: the border than.
- 26:55Speaker 3: He has the technics crement systems.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Now, okay, maybe rules that's now enforsulated in the legacy processes.
- 27:03Speaker 1: They have taken rehabilitation out of our systems. So now
- 27:07Speaker 1: these people don't have no incentitives in order to do better.
- 27:11Speaker 1: They claim that these little programs that they do have
- 27:13Speaker 1: are classify the rehabilitated programs, but they don't have the
- 27:17Speaker 1: staff and the resources in order to provide these can'ts
- 27:20Speaker 1: put the resources that they need in order to reabilitate
- 27:22Speaker 1: back into the facts.
- 27:24Speaker 5: So what they're doing they make.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Up these make ship programs classifiers MTC, which is Management
- 27:30Speaker 1: Training Corporation programs, and they.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Sticking these inmates and these programs as.
- 27:36Speaker 1: An angle management in an A and A program and
- 27:38Speaker 1: they don't.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Have nothing to provide these individuals just to allow.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Them to get up and speak for five minutes and
- 27:44Speaker 1: that's it for the curriculum that's backdated to the last
- 27:48Speaker 1: twenty years ago, and that's it.
- 27:50Speaker 3: So now these unions don't have nothing to hold on
- 27:53Speaker 3: to man.
- 27:53Speaker 7: So what do they do?
- 27:55Speaker 1: They forced to turn the drugs, They force turn the box,
- 27:58Speaker 1: They forced to turn the other things as a negative
- 28:01Speaker 1: because they don't have nothing here in the system that's
- 28:04Speaker 1: helping them to reintegrate back into the pot.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Then the drugs.
- 28:08Speaker 6: Man, so you know what else can they do? My
- 28:11Speaker 6: my question is this, how is the drugs getting in
- 28:20Speaker 6: there at the if the visitors that's coming in there
- 28:24Speaker 6: are being searched in everything, how how you know, how's
- 28:30Speaker 6: the how's it getting in there?
- 28:36Speaker 2: Well?
- 28:37Speaker 7: I believe, I mean I believe, I believe that some
- 28:43Speaker 7: of the staff have a have a contributation of that.
- 28:45Speaker 7: That's just why they were supposed to pass out the
- 28:48Speaker 7: body camps uh January impact. They were supposed to pass
- 28:52Speaker 7: them out before then, but they didn't changed it to January,
- 28:55Speaker 7: and they still have this do this because they go
- 28:57Speaker 7: for one the the the officers quick and they already
- 29:01Speaker 7: goes that if I were there's money camp, they're gonna
- 29:03Speaker 7: see everything I do. So that's gonna put them in
- 29:05Speaker 7: a spot instead of a pretty to to. I believe
- 29:12Speaker 7: it was the Sunset Committee they had they had an
- 29:15Speaker 7: open session on YouTube, I believe it was, and they
- 29:18Speaker 7: were talking about about there there are six thousand jobs
- 29:22Speaker 7: to opening right now, and they recommended TV clos some
- 29:25Speaker 7: units so they can staff them. And if they did
- 29:28Speaker 7: staff them, they can have an officer. They said that
- 29:32Speaker 7: for that around each on each pod and whatever to
- 29:36Speaker 7: their job. But they don't do this, they don't have none,
- 29:39Speaker 7: said that they expect a fighter to do that for them,
- 29:42Speaker 7: you seem seeing. So what happens is it was I
- 29:45Speaker 7: believe that would be a contributation because there's a lot
- 29:47Speaker 7: of people that are pretty uh kicking it and how
- 29:50Speaker 7: they do things, maybe how they smuggle stuff or whatever.
- 29:53Speaker 7: But I believe that the most because everything's on paper
- 29:56Speaker 7: now and it's hard for us to be because we
- 29:58Speaker 7: can't get no paper no more. You know, our letters
- 30:01Speaker 7: have to go straight to Dallas and it goes to
- 30:03Speaker 7: a mail system processing seperate. We get it on our tablets,
- 30:07Speaker 7: don't email. We get actually it's either from a modified
- 30:12Speaker 7: approved in a Bible class or Bible study place or
- 30:15Speaker 7: are you or your lawyer. So so taking that into consideration,
- 30:20Speaker 7: you try to blow it down to one of the
- 30:23Speaker 7: most obvious or the most a successful way to be
- 30:28Speaker 7: bringing it in. You see, i'ctually people coming in every
- 30:31Speaker 7: day and every day and every dingy and taking you know,
- 30:32Speaker 7: all of a sudden, it pops up, It pops up,
- 30:34Speaker 7: It pops up, it pops up. So I mean, and
- 30:37Speaker 7: that's my opinion. Do I have proof? No, And I'm
- 30:40Speaker 7: not going to say I do because I know, But
- 30:42Speaker 7: do I believe this? If they do, that's my that's
- 30:45Speaker 7: my opinion. And uh, because I know that they got
- 30:48Speaker 7: so many cameras can be in the visitation that uh,
- 30:53Speaker 7: if they do catch somebody, they may catch maybe want
- 30:55Speaker 7: or to do something. You see what I'm saying. But
- 30:58Speaker 7: nine times undertended a the leader. It's it's the officers
- 31:01Speaker 7: bringing it in.
- 31:03Speaker 6: And you know, and fentanyl is such a protent drug.
- 31:06Speaker 6: You know from what I understand that if you can
- 31:10Speaker 6: just smell it or touch it and you know, you
- 31:13Speaker 6: go down and you know that I wouldn't understand how
- 31:18Speaker 6: a visitor will be bringing fentanyl in or or even
- 31:24Speaker 6: Haron I heard well one of the mothers had posted
- 31:29Speaker 6: on a group that they had shut down a unit
- 31:35Speaker 6: because someone had hairon in there.
- 31:40Speaker 7: Right, right, It's like that. But you know a lot
- 31:43Speaker 7: of a lot of people can mate like mcmum unit
- 31:46Speaker 7: has a family and friends white website on right and
- 31:51Speaker 7: right there. A lot of family and friends of the
- 31:53Speaker 7: presidents of Facebook actually you know, and that family or
- 31:57Speaker 7: the union of macomma unit actually talk about a lot
- 32:00Speaker 7: of stuff that's going on in here, so that people
- 32:03Speaker 7: don't believe it. They can either go out there and
- 32:06Speaker 7: just google aco see everything that's going on. They're also
- 32:14Speaker 7: because of lobination that I hear because I don't ever
- 32:17Speaker 7: have access to it, or nobody tells me. But the
- 32:18Speaker 7: people who do, they do tell me that that's just
- 32:21Speaker 7: what they talked about. They we're talking about this. It's
- 32:24Speaker 7: a new policy that they just implemented by saying how
- 32:27Speaker 7: wrong it is. But it's hard for anybody to do
- 32:30Speaker 7: anything about it.
- 32:31Speaker 2: What can we do?
- 32:32Speaker 7: I mean, yeah, I can. I can agree ince and
- 32:34Speaker 7: say hey, look you buy an agent hundred. That's this constitution.
- 32:37Speaker 7: We're the only ones that just had the privilege concluded
- 32:40Speaker 7: in their work. It's not included in the United States Constitution.
- 32:43Speaker 7: So in all my actuality, everything that I've earned, my
- 32:46Speaker 7: being doing my time in a positive way, right, I
- 32:50Speaker 7: earned that privilege. So if you take away my privilege,
- 32:53Speaker 7: you have to give me due course of law, in
- 32:55Speaker 7: other words, give me the pace. Tell me what I'm
- 32:58Speaker 7: being punished for and so forth, so forth. They don't
- 33:01Speaker 7: do this, they're doing might now they're punishing everybody for
- 33:05Speaker 7: somebody in elections. And to me, it's a constitutional But
- 33:09Speaker 7: what can we say, what can we do what prisoners?
- 33:12Speaker 1: It takes people like anybody.
- 33:14Speaker 7: Out there if they want to like maybe they got
- 33:16Speaker 7: to considers. Hey, do you know what I gotta use media.
- 33:19Speaker 7: I'd like to know what's going on over the coming
- 33:21Speaker 7: or with TVC with Brodan Coffin. Why did he in
- 33:24Speaker 7: one this poplicy in the first place? You know, because
- 33:26Speaker 7: some people are gonna get beat up. Some people are
- 33:29Speaker 7: going to get a get they got to catch out.
- 33:31Speaker 7: In other words, they're gonna force him to move out
- 33:33Speaker 7: of that section or whatever, because it's already has to
- 33:36Speaker 7: go over here. That some guy got caught up with
- 33:38Speaker 7: something and they ran him off and he goes to
- 33:40Speaker 7: another door. Don't know, you can't get over here. Come on,
- 33:42Speaker 7: get out of here. If the prisoners are running those
- 33:45Speaker 7: doors stuff and kept their administration is allowing them to
- 33:50Speaker 7: do this, So we to some other section of the building.
- 33:53Speaker 7: You got to do with the wrong car and putting
- 33:56Speaker 7: them in one stition of the of the of the
- 33:59Speaker 7: unit and a I was even together.
- 34:01Speaker 6: So the problem also, right, I think Cornell want to
- 34:05Speaker 6: jump in Cornell, Well, I guess ma'am.
- 34:08Speaker 1: See, that's a system that's been going on for years
- 34:11Speaker 1: now where they try to punish. It's called the corporal punishment.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Corporal punishment is a punishment that if one man may
- 34:17Speaker 1: do something, we're gonna punish everybody so that jempardizes the
- 34:20Speaker 1: light that individual while because if some guy feel like
- 34:23Speaker 1: he needs to be punished, their do that. Okay, But
- 34:25Speaker 1: what's going on right now?
- 34:27Speaker 3: Man?
- 34:27Speaker 1: You know it's gonna be hard to time a lot
- 34:29Speaker 1: of this stuff that's going on until we can get
- 34:31Speaker 1: our families involved in this and have our families go
- 34:35Speaker 1: ahead and put the pressure on the state representatives and
- 34:38Speaker 1: need take the senators now, and our detective government now,
- 34:42Speaker 1: and the force deep and these advocacy groups who's claiming
- 34:45Speaker 1: about crying about criminal justice reform this in this textor
- 34:49Speaker 1: they made Families Association and the Texas Prism Alliances and
- 34:52Speaker 1: all of these individuals will.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Claiming criminal justice reform.
- 34:56Speaker 1: We need pressure on these individuals from our families in
- 34:59Speaker 1: order to get people.
- 35:00Speaker 3: To do their job.
- 35:03Speaker 1: To create govern medical assistant to create Dottle programs for
- 35:07Speaker 1: these individual kids up in his sphere, going back into
- 35:10Speaker 1: the plot to get the.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Tools that they need.
- 35:13Speaker 1: And this is what we do need, man, because we're
- 35:15Speaker 1: not gonna stop drugs from coming.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Here and at these also are the ones were running
- 35:18Speaker 3: in ringing in right, So what do we do?
- 35:24Speaker 1: We have to put pressure on our representatives through.
- 35:27Speaker 3: A paying the bills. These are the walls, put the
- 35:29Speaker 3: funds for the but.
- 35:31Speaker 6: You know, like that how to get involved, like you know,
- 35:34Speaker 6: like we be talking Cortnal and mister Legable and we
- 35:39Speaker 6: be talking also and you know, and I tell you guys,
- 35:42Speaker 6: what was personally to me? I believe that with with
- 35:50Speaker 6: this new administrator that's that's in office right now, that's
- 35:55Speaker 6: taken everybody focuses on what or what they're doing. What
- 36:02Speaker 6: what are they doing? They taken off they whatever they
- 36:06Speaker 6: was applicant applicating for. They don'e took the focus off
- 36:10Speaker 6: of that and they don't put it over here on
- 36:12Speaker 6: number forty seven. See what he you know, oh he's doing.
- 36:17Speaker 6: Is he's doing that? Let's stop worrying about what he's doing. Okay, yes,
- 36:21Speaker 6: we understand that. You know what he's doing. He's he's
- 36:25Speaker 6: running the monk, that's what he's doing. Were putting our
- 36:30Speaker 6: we're taking our our focus off what the big picture
- 36:34Speaker 6: is and putting it over here on this when he's
- 36:37Speaker 6: gonna do whatever he's going to what he's what he's
- 36:40Speaker 6: going to do. You know that's why I you know,
- 36:43Speaker 6: when you said that applete the I talked to some
- 36:48Speaker 6: of them and that their focus is not right here
- 36:56Speaker 6: with the men and women that's currently serving time rover
- 37:00Speaker 6: conviction over a sentence. And I reached out to some
- 37:05Speaker 6: of the applicants over there in Texas and I told them,
- 37:09Speaker 6: you know, you guys got James Legate there. You guys
- 37:14Speaker 6: haven't even talked to them. You know, i'd be going
- 37:16Speaker 6: on the prison show, so.
- 37:19Speaker 3: You know.
- 37:19Speaker 6: And I and I put you guys name out there,
- 37:23Speaker 6: and I get a message backward like how do you
- 37:29Speaker 6: talk to them? Like they called me?
- 37:35Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't want to know how we're talking to talk. Yeah, yes,
- 37:38Speaker 1: that's that's that they want to know that now they're
- 37:41Speaker 1: trying to figure out our program. But the corner that
- 37:44Speaker 1: I can concern about the real from reform that we're
- 37:47Speaker 1: trying to get them nothing they're talking about some just
- 37:51Speaker 1: some little spoons uff that we're here the only family.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Aware of the problem.
- 37:56Speaker 5: But they're not just to make families aware of the
- 37:58Speaker 5: problems of how do we pick.
- 38:02Speaker 6: That's what? And you and you're right about that, they're not.
- 38:07Speaker 6: Because I'm in them groups. I look at them groups.
- 38:09Speaker 6: I may not say anything to them, but I see
- 38:13Speaker 6: what some of the focuses is mainly about some.
- 38:18Speaker 5: Of the some of the wives.
- 38:21Speaker 6: They want to know how do they get their husband call? Okay,
- 38:26Speaker 6: how do they get their call off? That's not that's
- 38:31Speaker 6: not important. Why do you need his call all your
- 38:34Speaker 6: I mean, who can I mean, I understand what?
- 38:39Speaker 3: What he cheating on you?
- 38:40Speaker 7: And something?
- 38:40Speaker 2: You know?
- 38:41Speaker 6: That's not the focus right right now, Let's talk about
- 38:46Speaker 6: how to change some of these laws and not calling
- 38:52Speaker 6: a counselors getting called AFT. Let's stop making foolish petitions
- 38:59Speaker 6: about things instead they gonna they probably deny. Let's let's
- 39:03Speaker 6: do something else with that time and energy instead of
- 39:07Speaker 6: just like talking nonsense inside of the groups. Mister legate,
- 39:10Speaker 6: do you have anything.
- 39:14Speaker 7: Well, I just like you. I would just like to
- 39:16Speaker 7: say that people really need to understand that there's a
- 39:18Speaker 7: lot of a lot of yes that are going on
- 39:22Speaker 7: in TV TJ A lot of them, and it's despibly
- 39:25Speaker 7: being that somebody questions the feel for the family. I
- 39:29Speaker 7: feel for the for the family because passed away. I mean,
- 39:32Speaker 7: I've seen people in here, especially if my exception was
- 39:35Speaker 7: in tax Us, people die because of well when I
- 39:38Speaker 7: hear it, because of of that K two stuff that
- 39:41Speaker 7: they smoke. Some of them iey need to even talk
- 39:43Speaker 7: to I don't even know. I've mis see him around.
- 39:45Speaker 7: And because I'm really I'm really I'm not like anti
- 39:48Speaker 7: super but I only uh, I don't like to deal
- 39:51Speaker 7: with people who who pass their time in a negative way.
- 39:55Speaker 7: I said it was something but positive people and if
- 39:57Speaker 7: they wouldn't even want to help, like too helpful even
- 39:59Speaker 7: if you want to do time in any way. But
- 40:01Speaker 7: I'm asking is if people should really reach out to
- 40:04Speaker 7: their senators, the slats, the representatives, you know, and and
- 40:09Speaker 7: and ask hey, you know, g is up at maybe
- 40:14Speaker 7: two o'clock in the morning doing random shatdowns and the
- 40:17Speaker 7: kind of get to go off guard. And so now
- 40:19Speaker 7: they're giving a big deprivation because they want these people
- 40:23Speaker 7: to come in, you know. And and it's all because
- 40:25Speaker 7: of the trucks and all because they do not want
- 40:27Speaker 7: to set up platform that can actually try to help
- 40:30Speaker 7: and educate the younger offender. Center and President, you got
- 40:37Speaker 7: people come in with with my senators. We've got murders,
- 40:39Speaker 7: you got a rapist, you got all kind of kind
- 40:42Speaker 7: of criminals. Criminal uh, people who done all kinds of
- 40:46Speaker 7: criminal activity. But the fact is to the to be realitated.
- 40:51Speaker 3: I think.
- 40:52Speaker 7: So, I think everybody chance, everybody deserves a space to
- 40:56Speaker 7: vote so that they can try to do something positive
- 40:59Speaker 7: with your time. Yeah, they can get a couple of
- 41:01Speaker 7: programs here that some of them like do which is
- 41:03Speaker 7: from around Betters program.
- 41:05Speaker 3: But other than that, some of them.
- 41:07Speaker 5: Use it as a game.
- 41:08Speaker 7: You know, everything is basically get game now. And it
- 41:11Speaker 7: saddens me because especially when I see these young individuals,
- 41:14Speaker 7: you know, how they're wasting their life away. They could
- 41:18Speaker 7: not realize it. And what's said, is it because they
- 41:21Speaker 7: always can constantly getting money from their families who love them,
- 41:24Speaker 7: you know, instead of finding a compensation for themselves to
- 41:28Speaker 7: using all that money, all that conversary to give it
- 41:31Speaker 7: to the guy who's given them the drugs.
- 41:34Speaker 6: So we have a question from Patrees. She would like
- 41:40Speaker 6: to know are there any drug programs available inside of there.
- 41:45Speaker 6: Do they offer drug programs in there?
- 41:50Speaker 7: Well, but you haven't any However, to give that program
- 41:53Speaker 7: is very hard. But the way it is, right, you know,
- 41:55Speaker 7: short of stass, I mean, they're super short of stuff.
- 41:58Speaker 7: They're not having no kind of program. Know, they do
- 42:01Speaker 7: have a program that's along with the recovery uh little
- 42:04Speaker 7: recovery program, right, but you don't have people in there
- 42:08Speaker 7: that shouldn't even be there, people who don't even do drugs,
- 42:11Speaker 7: People don't do this or do that. But they kick
- 42:13Speaker 7: down people who have a problem, if you have a problem,
- 42:16Speaker 7: trying to help them to rehabilitate themselves to become a
- 42:20Speaker 7: better person. They're not saying, oh no, well you can't
- 42:23Speaker 7: do this because if if we find out that you're smoking,
- 42:25Speaker 7: we're gonna kick you out. Well, that's not the recovery program.
- 42:27Speaker 7: The recovery program might think that you have. If you
- 42:30Speaker 7: do have that problem, you can stop them, talk to
- 42:32Speaker 7: them and try to get helpful. But they're not doing that.
- 42:36Speaker 7: So that I also asks your.
- 42:37Speaker 6: Question, Yes, did that answer your question for trees?
- 42:42Speaker 3: You know?
- 42:44Speaker 6: So you so without the programs, they just I just
- 42:49Speaker 6: I just hanging.
- 42:50Speaker 7: Out you I mean, and now there's nothing they can do.
- 42:57Speaker 7: There's over Yeah, there's nothing they can do. There's no recreation.
- 43:02Speaker 7: We don't have no recreation because short of staff. See
- 43:10Speaker 7: the trade, you know it. Yet there's a long waiting
- 43:13Speaker 7: lints and stuff like this, and you have to be
- 43:15Speaker 7: case free. But even now because for three years to
- 43:19Speaker 7: be close the creators. Now you have certain people that
- 43:22Speaker 7: get you go and have it in daught this program,
- 43:25Speaker 7: you know, And I've not way for myself. I've been
- 43:26Speaker 7: on three years, so I can't do nothing. I can't
- 43:30Speaker 7: practice by trade. But that's okay because I do my
- 43:33Speaker 7: time in a positive way anyway. You know me, I'm
- 43:35Speaker 7: always parting my cage. I'm always looking at reading and
- 43:38Speaker 7: searching and trying to keep myself out so maybe I
- 43:41Speaker 7: can do something when I do be now trying to
- 43:43Speaker 7: help somebody, trying to help the system, trying to get
- 43:45Speaker 7: that change, trying to talk to legislators myself. If I can't,
- 43:49Speaker 7: I would go to the magisterior session and speak behad
- 43:52Speaker 7: with the whole system, because I do believe it needs changed,
- 43:55Speaker 7: you know, I do believe it because people do need
- 43:57Speaker 7: to be punished for a crime and they come in.
- 44:00Speaker 7: I do agree with that. However, there's a certain point
- 44:03Speaker 7: and time where everybody needs to gain some kind of
- 44:07Speaker 7: a discipline, some kind of education, some kind of motives,
- 44:11Speaker 7: you know, to help them, you know, to help uh
- 44:14Speaker 7: uh bring them back to society and to see what
- 44:17Speaker 7: life is really about, what they're really missing. You know,
- 44:20Speaker 7: it's not all about the hustle, is the puzzle or
- 44:22Speaker 7: just the party and all this stuff, or trying to
- 44:24Speaker 7: be anxious that you're not you know, it's just trying
- 44:28Speaker 7: to be a humble person that can go out into
- 44:30Speaker 7: the world and be responsible. And that's what that's the
- 44:34Speaker 7: way they're supposed to do this. They're supposed to commit
- 44:36Speaker 7: rehabilitation toward these offenders, and just maybe they're.
- 44:39Speaker 6: Not doing and and yeah, and and it is very
- 44:45Speaker 6: sad because once the one want, once their release and
- 44:51Speaker 6: they haven't been given the proper tools to come back
- 44:57Speaker 6: into society, they're going to reoffend the again. And I
- 45:00Speaker 6: sometimes I be thinking that that's what they depend on. Oh,
- 45:04Speaker 6: you know, he gonna go out there, he gonna get
- 45:08Speaker 6: in trouble, or she gonna go out there and get
- 45:09Speaker 6: in trouble. She'll be back, she'll be back in and
- 45:12Speaker 6: probably little do we know they probably be putting back
- 45:16Speaker 6: so like, oh he'll be back in here like two months,
- 45:18Speaker 6: three months, and you know, and then here he comes
- 45:20Speaker 6: back in. You know, So how do I mean? Once again?
- 45:28Speaker 6: You know, I do believe that there's power and voices
- 45:36Speaker 6: if we all come together and speak out against what's
- 45:41Speaker 6: going on in these prisons. You know, you can go
- 45:45Speaker 6: on Facebook and enter into these prison groups and you
- 45:49Speaker 6: can see how many men, how many women, especially the
- 45:54Speaker 6: men are in these prisons as getting the fentanyl, the
- 46:00Speaker 6: pay too in their overdose. Mister Legate, I know you
- 46:04Speaker 6: got one minute left, so I'm gonna go ahead and
- 46:07Speaker 6: let you give your final thought and also, well I'll
- 46:14Speaker 6: do it for you. I will give them your change
- 46:16Speaker 6: dot Org. Go ahead, Okay.
- 46:20Speaker 7: What I'd like to say is that you know most
- 46:22Speaker 7: about TVC what they implemented, because you have to have
- 46:26Speaker 7: self rehabilitation. If you want to rehabilitate yourself. They're saying
- 46:30Speaker 7: they will go to school, get a gd do whatever
- 46:33Speaker 7: you're gonna do. But there is no most for these people.
- 46:36Speaker 7: Everybody takes care of these because they're in love them.
- 46:39Speaker 7: They send them money, they do whatever they can because
- 46:41Speaker 7: they help them out. Now when they get up into
- 46:42Speaker 7: the world. They say, hey, well, now you've got to
- 46:44Speaker 7: get a job. You gotta get responsible, you.
- 46:46Speaker 6: Gotta do this.
- 46:47Speaker 7: But they can't do that. They rather they rather work
- 46:50Speaker 7: for a cent or or or a problem, you know,
- 46:53Speaker 7: flint stuff here Redily. They go out there making money
- 46:55Speaker 7: and they get productive.
- 46:56Speaker 3: But I believe because.
- 46:59Speaker 6: I love Okay, okay, So we have Cornell back. Mister Legate.
- 47:07Speaker 6: Time ran ran out. And you know, mister Legate is
- 47:14Speaker 6: currently in Texas fighting a brown for conviction. We had
- 47:21Speaker 6: him on here many a time talking about his conviction.
- 47:24Speaker 6: If you guys haven't got to change dot org, look
- 47:29Speaker 6: up just where's the justice for James Legate, and please
- 47:33Speaker 6: sign his change dot org because he is an innocent
- 47:39Speaker 6: man in prison. So Cornell, welcome back.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Yes, ma'am, I'm back, and I appreciate being back, man, ma'am.
- 47:50Speaker 7: Okay, So we.
- 47:57Speaker 6: Was talking about we had a a question come up.
- 48:01Speaker 6: Patrice asked a question about drug programs, if there were
- 48:06Speaker 6: any drug programs in the prison.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Okay, okay, that's a good question to be asked, man,
- 48:16Speaker 1: I have been Okay, was just put it like this.
- 48:20Speaker 1: This is a sham process, man, Okay, I am getting
- 48:23Speaker 1: one right now. This is specified as the Management Training Corporation,
- 48:31Speaker 1: which is a profit facility, a private entity. And what
- 48:35Speaker 1: they're doing is that the roller board would make you,
- 48:38Speaker 1: would recommend you to be playful one of these programs.
- 48:41Speaker 1: What in TDC, we do have a programs and other
- 48:45Speaker 1: church programs in order.
- 48:47Speaker 3: To help people to try to stay away from drugs
- 48:49Speaker 3: and stuff like that.
- 48:50Speaker 1: But no, we do not have any positive programs here
- 48:54Speaker 1: in the prison system Texas that would help these kids
- 48:57Speaker 1: get off of drug man, you do not have that.
- 49:00Speaker 1: So we can't tick the code it in line and
- 49:02Speaker 1: say that we do.
- 49:02Speaker 6: We don't because mister Legate was telling us that it
- 49:06Speaker 6: wasn't any programs over there for them to do that.
- 49:10Speaker 6: They basically, I just guess they just hanging out, not
- 49:14Speaker 6: doing nothing. So if they just over there hanging out
- 49:17Speaker 6: and not doing anything, that's a prime way to start,
- 49:21Speaker 6: you know, indulging, you know, thinking that Okay, I'm gonna
- 49:26Speaker 6: go over here and I'm gonna do this, and it's
- 49:28Speaker 6: just gonna send me floating out of prison for a
- 49:33Speaker 6: minute and then I come back to reality. But sometimes
- 49:36Speaker 6: some of them gonna snap out of it. They over
- 49:39Speaker 6: there down overdose.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Okay, Well, madam I'm speaking, ma'am. Okay, if kids can't
- 49:49Speaker 1: have no intentions, ma'am to do better, it will not
- 49:53Speaker 1: do better. If we don't have no programs kids have
- 49:57Speaker 1: to do better. They don't know that they can do better.
- 50:00Speaker 1: So with that being said, now, since I've been in
- 50:02Speaker 1: this prison system now all my life now, there has
- 50:05Speaker 1: been no productive drug realitation programs within the system to
- 50:12Speaker 1: be able to help these kids to be able to
- 50:14Speaker 1: refrain from using dugs. Okay, Now, when the black market
- 50:18Speaker 1: came in, when they stopped selling cigarettes in the physic system,
- 50:22Speaker 1: the black market came in. Wow, because you had TDC
- 50:25Speaker 1: officers knowing that they can make an extra bug by
- 50:27Speaker 1: banging in baccles. Then they started bringing in other stuff cocaine, weed, ecstasy,
- 50:33Speaker 1: everything else that thema could use in order to medicate
- 50:36Speaker 1: themselves from the reality of being incarcerated behind prison walls
- 50:40Speaker 1: in these unsanitary prison conditions.
- 50:43Speaker 3: And this is what's going on right now.
- 50:45Speaker 1: So what our Texas for Overboard did was this, they said, well, okay,
- 50:49Speaker 1: the only way you can make the role is that
- 50:50Speaker 1: we're going to recommend you to get paid to a
- 50:53Speaker 1: drug real beef build a station program. At the end
- 50:56Speaker 1: of your cinemas once you make the rollers, but mine yours.
- 51:00Speaker 1: That so many people have a fifty or even life sentences. Man,
- 51:07Speaker 1: the little programs that they do have in here, a
- 51:10Speaker 1: program that's the inmates trying to teach other inmate away
- 51:14Speaker 1: from juniors. Man, they don't have no counselors that come
- 51:17Speaker 1: up in here and to be able to teach you
- 51:20Speaker 1: how to get away from drugs and to give you
- 51:21Speaker 1: the tool of theay able to you that.
- 51:26Speaker 7: We don't have that.
- 51:27Speaker 2: You know now, I just.
- 51:29Speaker 6: Gotta say this before I forget it. You said that
- 51:33Speaker 6: they offer you the program at the end of your sentence.
- 51:38Speaker 6: Why they don't, Why do they do that, and why
- 51:41Speaker 6: they don't offer it? Doing your doing the incarceration, I
- 51:47Speaker 6: would think why they're incarcerated, you would want to start
- 51:53Speaker 6: introducing them to that then that where they can start
- 51:56Speaker 6: making the changes before their time the exit the system.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Okay, because this is what they're doing. They're placing us,
- 52:09Speaker 3: They're persing us.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Into this Management Training Corporation program, which is a private
- 52:16Speaker 1: chief that contracted with the State of Texas.
- 52:20Speaker 3: That's making millions and millions of dollars off of the state.
- 52:23Speaker 3: From some other meetings and everybody got their hands.
- 52:26Speaker 5: In the cookie jar man.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Now, mind yourself.
- 52:28Speaker 3: This is a private facility that we're in.
- 52:32Speaker 1: This is not the parole board.
- 52:34Speaker 3: The parole board put.
- 52:35Speaker 6: Us in this.
- 52:37Speaker 1: So how is it logic and possible that this private
- 52:40Speaker 1: entity right now is making billions of dollars off of
- 52:43Speaker 1: six thousand inmates who have already made parole but they
- 52:46Speaker 1: only got two thousand days. So you've got people that's
- 52:49Speaker 1: waiting and waiting and waiting to.
- 52:51Speaker 3: Get for this program, and they.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Can't get you a while because they don't have enough
- 52:56Speaker 1: minus space for these independents.
- 52:57Speaker 3: Treat those things.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Individual corporations getting paid money for us.
- 53:01Speaker 6: Just shouldn't you? And you know, and I think that's
- 53:04Speaker 6: just just crazy.
- 53:06Speaker 3: Crazy, Okay, that's just crazy.
- 53:09Speaker 6: You know, you know how you gonna hold how would
- 53:13Speaker 6: somebody made par role? You would think that, Okay, you
- 53:16Speaker 6: gave them a fund, They made par role and they're
- 53:20Speaker 6: gonna be out this day, whether I know in California,
- 53:23Speaker 6: I believe it. They give thee one hundred and twenty
- 53:27Speaker 6: more days before.
- 53:29Speaker 7: Their release, yes, ma'am, But they send you, they send uh.
- 53:35Speaker 8: You guys to program, yes, yes, And so the program
- 53:41Speaker 8: that they're sentemas too, was like that, I make the
- 53:44Speaker 8: role today and the recommend man f I six and
- 53:48Speaker 8: the alf I pick is a six month program.
- 53:49Speaker 1: That's this program that I'm in.
- 53:52Speaker 5: Give you a three month extension day, so you have
- 53:55Speaker 5: to be at the program from that day. You want
- 53:57Speaker 5: to roll three months later like me, I can't and
- 54:00Speaker 5: I opposed to hear in Octo, but.
- 54:02Speaker 1: I can't get here until January. So these four months,
- 54:06Speaker 1: if they had waiting you.
- 54:07Speaker 5: To get here, they put that on the ends of
- 54:09Speaker 5: the air fix.
- 54:11Speaker 1: So none of my release date is not until July
- 54:15Speaker 1: the fourteenth.
- 54:16Speaker 3: But how is that likely principle, But you gave.
- 54:19Speaker 5: Me an air fix six far from October to April
- 54:22Speaker 5: the first. No, my release date now is ju Lie
- 54:26Speaker 5: the fourteenth. But these people are getting money from me
- 54:30Speaker 5: being here in this program because they don't have enough
- 54:33Speaker 5: their says, ma'am, And they are holding us behind and
- 54:36Speaker 5: making these people to eighteen nineteen more even to get here.
- 54:39Speaker 3: And you know, so this is a problem.
- 54:42Speaker 6: Did they just get a million dollars to make a key?
- 54:49Speaker 5: Yes, ma'am, okay, I'm here for the mean gains.
- 54:52Speaker 3: Stay there studding the facility units man okay.
- 54:55Speaker 5: And I just come from the colony.
- 54:56Speaker 7: You're in the colony.
- 54:57Speaker 5: You're just as get bad as the as a as
- 55:00Speaker 5: the common unit.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Okay, well, these people don't care. Got a million dollars
- 55:04Speaker 1: to fix the security up. Now, Mandy is the bottom
- 55:08Speaker 1: of the medical department.
- 55:09Speaker 3: And the bottom of the kitchen. Man, it's flooded with
- 55:12Speaker 3: water all the way to the top of the fins.
- 55:14Speaker 5: So because of that, they don't have no hot water
- 55:16Speaker 5: in the.
- 55:17Speaker 3: Kitchen whatsoever, man at all. So the food trade that
- 55:21Speaker 3: they're using it of being washed in trashcans with a
- 55:24Speaker 3: little beef water and that disappears, aches out, and then
- 55:27Speaker 3: the water sold, and the trades that we're eating from
- 55:30Speaker 3: a crazy train.
- 55:32Speaker 5: So now with that being.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Saidment the heat, the contaminated trades, and.
- 55:37Speaker 5: Now they don't have no water popper water to give
- 55:39Speaker 5: us because the walls contaminated.
- 55:42Speaker 3: So now he hit it. So officers they get bottle water.
- 55:45Speaker 3: They bring eat pepy bottled water. I'm looking at they
- 55:48Speaker 3: stacked the bottle of.
- 55:48Speaker 5: Water in the picket right now for the office cases
- 55:52Speaker 5: of the.
- 55:52Speaker 3: Bottle of water. And they eat from paper trades.
- 55:56Speaker 5: But we can't eat from the paper trade. We have
- 55:58Speaker 5: to eat from the same fruit treading that they give
- 56:01Speaker 5: us the department. And if I tell you, these treatings
- 56:04Speaker 5: are so briefy that ma'am can.
- 56:06Speaker 6: Say, and the food and I can only imagine. I
- 56:10Speaker 6: can just you know, talking to the men's over there
- 56:14Speaker 6: Domingos Unit and knows, listening on the gate and seeing
- 56:18Speaker 6: and everybody telling me how they water them trades. They
- 56:24Speaker 6: just dipping them in water and trash can.
- 56:38Speaker 5: And that right now, man, who are complaining about some
- 56:42Speaker 5: partner with they kicking from something and uh, I forgot
- 56:45Speaker 5: the name of it. Get up for second up here,
- 56:49Speaker 5: I'm trying to think of, ma'am.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Now it's coming to be a problem of the coming
- 56:55Speaker 3: up with these body diseases and they don't know what
- 56:58Speaker 3: it's from. I do identify it today.
- 57:01Speaker 5: And you know, when this guy told me about it
- 57:04Speaker 5: the other day, I didn't know for sure that's what
- 57:06Speaker 5: it was. He said, his kidney is or something that's
- 57:14Speaker 5: wrong with him.
- 57:14Speaker 3: Man, that's another duo. Were doing the same with generical things.
- 57:17Speaker 5: Man, So it's got to be from this world up
- 57:20Speaker 5: something that's you know, that's these people are feeding us.
- 57:23Speaker 3: Man.
- 57:34Speaker 5: Okay, kidney stone, that's what he was trying to figure out.
- 57:37Speaker 1: That's what they're trying to say.
- 57:38Speaker 7: All we don't.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a holidays. This is holiday.
- 57:48Speaker 6: Mister holiday is the one I have that was recently
- 57:52Speaker 6: diagnosed with m mess.
- 57:53Speaker 5: Right, No, ma'am, that's not the young but the holiday
- 57:58Speaker 5: is the one that has to recall. Man, that kid.
- 58:01Speaker 5: Oh okay, okay, yes lam, Yes so man, this is
- 58:09Speaker 5: the problem. So the people are not giving any problematical
- 58:13Speaker 5: assistance lens. When these people electric.
- 58:15Speaker 3: People get off of these debuty trade I'm talking about
- 58:17Speaker 3: washing trade.
- 58:18Speaker 5: In cover water.
- 58:19Speaker 1: And as far as the facility, we don't get no
- 58:21Speaker 1: recreation over here.
- 58:22Speaker 5: It's a twenty four hour lockdown, so we don't get
- 58:25Speaker 5: no recreation over here. And as far as the compound
- 58:29Speaker 5: on Erogan, it can't do nothing, man.
- 58:34Speaker 3: So you know, the conditions are.
- 58:35Speaker 1: So bad that it's sad.
- 58:37Speaker 5: And we're asking for representatives to come and walk through
- 58:41Speaker 5: these suits to look at them, because if they can see.
- 58:45Speaker 3: For themselves what we're complaining about, that's.
- 58:49Speaker 5: All we ask, man, So that they can see what
- 58:51Speaker 5: we're seeing and what we're saying, that's all we.
- 58:54Speaker 7: Ask, man.
- 58:55Speaker 1: And you know.
- 58:58Speaker 6: When I look in the uh in the groups and
- 59:05Speaker 6: I see what they're what they're posting. They're not posting
- 59:11Speaker 6: anything that's really alarming that people need to go check
- 59:15Speaker 6: out the prison system or anything like that. They just
- 59:21Speaker 6: talking a bunch of nonsense. So how do we get
- 59:26Speaker 6: We got three minutes for now? How can we get
- 59:30Speaker 6: a good how?
- 59:31Speaker 1: What?
- 59:31Speaker 6: What's what would y'all like for us?
- 59:35Speaker 3: Okay, well, ma'am, you have opened the door all rid
- 59:38Speaker 3: of yourself.
- 59:39Speaker 5: Okay, the the Prison Show, it's an power that here
- 59:42Speaker 5: in checkens.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Where thives and Corolla board numbers and people come.
- 59:47Speaker 5: Off that show and they talk.
- 59:50Speaker 3: Okay that here in technics.
- 59:52Speaker 5: Okay, now you got the problem that they make association.
- 59:54Speaker 3: You got the tective prison alignment, and you've got the
- 59:57Speaker 3: textives that kind of take people and you know, a
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: lawyer and stuff that be going to the Prison Show
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: to speak.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: So what let's asking for us to do?
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Let us read down to the depend the show and
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: ask them to invite these individuals.
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: To come over to the Left Top About It show
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: and the Poor podcast and let us open up a
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: dialogue of discussions about reforming our text in criminal justice
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: system and the issues that are any matter, And we
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: ask you for founidies to get involved, to get involved
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: into the real relationships about what system of the plea
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: argains of the law of parties, of the second, the
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: field you know, the subscree read application, all all these
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: things have to be fixed because if not with what
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: with Will being a dead horse man? We have a
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: program system amount that will never be sick until we
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: fix it.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: The question is what is wrong with our comp justice system?
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: How do we yeah the question?
