Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Okay, so I'm a newlywed, right?
- 0:06Speaker 2: And it has been so much fun. Like, we just
- 0:07Speaker 2: passed our six-months mark. But, Rich, you know, you're still
- 0:10Speaker 2: in that newlywed. You and Stace have been together for, like,
- 0:13Speaker 2: a little over two and a half years. Kyle, like,
- 0:15Speaker 2: a decade worth of love. John Jay, a couple of
- 0:17Speaker 2: decades worth of love. Yeah, and so I actually have
- 0:20Speaker 2: some weird pieces of marriage advice that low-key make sense.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Weird marriage advice?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Like, yeah, they're just a little bit different.
- 0:28Speaker 1: It's not the don't go to bed angry stuff. It's
- 0:30Speaker 1: other stuff.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 0:31Speaker 2: It's the other stuff.
- 0:33Speaker 3: If you go over it, we can discuss it.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I'll see. Okay, go ahead.
- 0:37Speaker 2: So number six is be afraid to lose each other.
- 0:40Speaker 2: So compete over who can show more love and like
- 0:43Speaker 2: not literally fear and competition, but the idea is to
- 0:45Speaker 2: never get so comfortable that you stop making yourself feel
- 0:49Speaker 2: wanted and appreciated. I know, Rich, you and Stacey are
- 0:52Speaker 2: like that. adamant on your Friday night dates, which I.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Think is awesome. If I didn't take her out, she'd
- 0:56Speaker 1: probably go out with somebody else.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Well, you're saying.
- 1:01Speaker 3: You said something, but then you tied into going out.
- 1:04Speaker 2: So be afraid to lose each other.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Have that fear.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Have that fear that, hey, if I don't step up
- 1:10Speaker 2: and I don't show up in this relationship, that they
- 1:12Speaker 2: might see something else and go for that.
- 1:14Speaker 3: It doesn't mean going out, though.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It doesn't mean that.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But maybe for some people it does because that's how
- 1:18Speaker 1: you stay connected.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Like for my wife, she always wants to play backgammon.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Always wants to play backgammon.
- 1:23Speaker 2: So make sure you bring her flowers so she doesn't
- 1:25Speaker 2: want to play backgammon with someone else.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Bring her flowers so she doesn't play badgammon? With someone else.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Why don't I just play badgammon with her?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Well, you could, but the idea is to be afraid.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Because when I beat her, I'm like, in your face.
- 1:35Speaker 1: John Jay's not afraid.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Remember when one guy was like hitting on Blake and
- 1:40Speaker 2: you were like, eh.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess that's nice.
- 1:43Speaker 3: He gave her flowers. I was like, that's nice of
- 1:46Speaker 3: the guy.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Bring her flowers, look at that.
- 1:49Speaker 3: All right, go ahead. That's good, Peyton.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Here's another one. So keep the TV out of the bedroom.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Go to bed together and actually talk. So less screen
- 1:58Speaker 2: time can mean more conversation and better sleep and more intimacy.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I just screwed that. I need TV.
- 2:03Speaker 1: TV should be everywhere.
- 2:06Speaker 2: So far, we're 0 for 2 with John Jay.
- 2:09Speaker 3: My wife, she reads in bed.
- 2:11Speaker 4: And the only reason I don't watch TV in bed,
- 2:13Speaker 4: true story, is it won't turn on.
- 2:16Speaker 1: You'd have to like get up out of bed.
- 2:18Speaker 4: I've got to figure out if I think I might
- 2:19Speaker 4: need new batteries or something like that. And those speakers
- 2:22Speaker 4: kind of acting kind of weird. I got to have
- 2:23Speaker 4: a guy come fix it.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Well, you know what?
- 2:25Speaker 1: If that were me, that would have been done yesterday.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Right. So I've been watching TV downstairs a lot. So, uh,
- 2:30Speaker 4: but I think watching TV in bed is important.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Plus you can talk about the show.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Okay. Go ahead.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Bring your spouse a cold drink on a hot day.
- 2:39Speaker 2: The drink isn't the point. It's the, I was just
- 2:42Speaker 2: thinking about you gesture that can matter more than the
- 2:45Speaker 2: occasional like grand romance.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I like that. I like that. It's a little thing.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Yeah. I always, okay.
- 2:51Speaker 4: And I don't say always, but I, there's a lot
- 2:52Speaker 4: of times where I will go when I, my, when
- 2:55Speaker 4: I leave the gym, her, one of her favorite, T's
- 2:59Speaker 4: is the AJ's green tea.
- 3:00Speaker 3: So I will go to AJ's and get her green
- 3:03Speaker 3: tea and bring it to her. Nice. Yeah.
- 3:05Speaker 1: That's strong.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Very strong. That's a good one. That's a good one.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I agree with that one. Okay.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Before you start an argument or before you get into
- 3:12Speaker 2: an argument. eat something because you might actually not be
- 3:14Speaker 2: mad at them. You're probably just hangry. And a little
- 3:17Speaker 2: snack can make us all feel a little bit better.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I've heard that's true for guys.
- 3:20Speaker 3: For sure.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Except for my thing is that if I'm mad, I'm
- 3:23Speaker 2: not going to sit there and be like, hmm, I
- 3:25Speaker 2: think I need a granola bar.
- 3:26Speaker 1: You know, like I'm going to light you up. I
- 3:29Speaker 1: had a therapist tell me one time, many times actually,
- 3:32Speaker 1: that they would preach this. And I can't see this working, but,
- 3:35Speaker 1: you know, it kind of makes sense. They say if
- 3:37Speaker 1: you're really mad, you're getting ready to have a fight
- 3:39Speaker 1: with your sick other, you should kiss them. They're like,
- 3:42Speaker 1: if you kiss, then you're less likely to yell with
- 3:45Speaker 1: your mouth if you're actually kissing. But I can't see
- 3:48Speaker 1: being so pissed at somebody like, hey, you want to
- 3:50Speaker 1: make out? I can't see that going.
- 3:52Speaker 3: No, I would not want to kiss you.
- 3:54Speaker 2: If my husband came to me and tried to kiss
- 3:55Speaker 2: me in the middle of arguing, I would probably try
- 3:57Speaker 2: to bite his lips off.
- 3:58Speaker 3: See, yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah that's like a dangerous move.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Dangerous move for sure okay never go to bed with
- 4:05Speaker 2: dirty dishes and not like it's not about the dirty
- 4:07Speaker 2: dishes right it's about like actually like doing something together
- 4:11Speaker 2: and winding down together and having that chance to talk
- 4:14Speaker 2: and you're less likely to fight over who's doing all
- 4:16Speaker 2: the work if you do it together we.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Go to bed with dirty dishes in our sink all
- 4:21Speaker 3: the time.
- 4:21Speaker 4: You know what's funny is I tell my wife it's
- 4:24Speaker 4: okay if there's dirty dishes in the sink. And she freaks,
- 4:27Speaker 4: she will not go to bed with dirty dishes in
- 4:28Speaker 4: the sink.
- 4:29Speaker 3: But it doesn't bother me. But I'm not going to
- 4:31Speaker 3: go with her and clean up.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Well, these are just weird pieces of marriage advice that
- 4:35Speaker 2: low-key make sense. Here's the last one, which I am
- 4:38Speaker 2: totally on board with. Get a king-size bed. You can
- 4:43Speaker 2: cuddle when you want to and you have your own
- 4:44Speaker 2: space when you don't. Plus, if you have kids and
- 4:46Speaker 2: they climb in, nobody gets a foot to the face.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And I'm like, the more space in the bed, the better.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I'm a big fan of the foot in the face.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yes, of course you are, Joe.
- 4:56Speaker 4: I have some advice I think that is a good one.
- 4:59Speaker 4: We try to do a six-second or longer hug. Six
- 5:03Speaker 4: to 20 seconds.
- 5:04Speaker 1: That's great.
- 5:05Speaker 3: I do it with my kids, too. You go out
- 5:06Speaker 3: of your way and hold. You think about it. That's
- 5:08Speaker 3: kind of a long time. Yeah, it is. But it
- 5:10Speaker 3: creates something between you and the other person.
- 5:12Speaker 1: That's really good. It is actually like.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Like the chemistry in your body changes after a certain
- 5:17Speaker 2: amount of time.
- 5:18Speaker 3: But six seconds is weird.
- 5:20Speaker 4: We'll even be like one, two, three.
- 5:24Speaker 2: At that point, it sounds like that would just be
- 5:25Speaker 2: like a chore.
- 5:27Speaker 4: I just feel like it recharges my kids when I
- 5:29Speaker 4: do it. Anybody else? Other advice?
- 5:32Speaker 3: All right. If you got any weird advice, let us know.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Text it. JJR to 96893. Yeah.
