- 0:00Speaker 1: Time out for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Mounce Life Chiropractic. We have doctor Harley joining us. How
- 0:04Speaker 1: you doing, doctor Harley?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey, I'm doing great. I can't believe it's June already.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I'm the fastest years going by.
- 0:10Speaker 1: June is a lot of things like Dairy Month, it's
- 0:12Speaker 1: you know, all kinds of things, but it's also National
- 0:14Speaker 1: Men's Health Month. And men are kind of stubborn, aren't we.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I mean, that's a good question to ask yourself. No,
- 0:20Speaker 2: we're not.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We are. We absolutely are.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Uh.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And that's the thing that kind of stinks. A lot
- 0:26Speaker 1: of the time. We let something go, maybe even way
- 0:28Speaker 1: too long before we finally come in and go can
- 0:30Speaker 1: you fix this? And you're like, how long is it?
- 0:31Speaker 1: How long have you have this problem?
- 0:33Speaker 2: Yeah? It just tend to seem like men tend to
- 0:36Speaker 2: ignore their problems or like you know, make them smaller
- 0:39Speaker 2: than what they really are. And it takes you know,
- 0:41Speaker 2: their wife, their mom, theirs, their friends.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Some female right use. Other men would be like I
- 0:48Speaker 1: walk it up.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Someone else in their life to push them like you
- 0:51Speaker 2: should really go get that looked at, or you should
- 0:54Speaker 2: probably go get a check up, or just something, because
- 0:57Speaker 2: you know, it's really easy to just fine, I'll deal
- 1:00Speaker 2: with it later.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I just had I don't know what I did to
- 1:02Speaker 1: my foot, but my foot was all black and blue
- 1:04Speaker 1: and I was like, Heidi said, you're walking funny. What's
- 1:06Speaker 1: going on. I'm like, I don't know. My foot's kind
- 1:08Speaker 1: of sorr. I turned my sock off. She's like, what
- 1:10Speaker 1: happened to your foot? I'm like, I have no idea.
- 1:12Speaker 1: She maybe put an ice pack on it. I feel
- 1:14Speaker 1: way better. I'm like, well, maybe I should have thought
- 1:16Speaker 1: of the ice pack. So for somebody who knows some
- 1:20Speaker 1: dude who's probably in pain but won't admit it, what
- 1:23Speaker 1: are some things that they can do to convince them that, hey,
- 1:26Speaker 1: this is the month to go get that checked.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I mean, just letting them know that you care about
- 1:31Speaker 2: them can be a big one. You know, they or
- 1:33Speaker 2: they don't even realize that it's a problem. So if
- 1:35Speaker 2: you bring some research or you were talking to a
- 1:37Speaker 2: chiropractor pt like, hey, I was talking like this came
- 1:41Speaker 2: up in conversation, they really think you should do something
- 1:43Speaker 2: about it before it gets worse. It's much easier to
- 1:47Speaker 2: take care of problems when they're less or smaller versus
- 1:51Speaker 2: just pushing through it and waiting for it to get worse,
- 1:54Speaker 2: because eventually it is gonna get worse.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And this month, again with it being Men's health month,
- 2:00Speaker 1: if if you've been waiting for a reason to say, hey,
- 2:02Speaker 1: you should maybe get that checked, you could just say,
- 2:03Speaker 1: you know, want this is the month just do it,
- 2:05Speaker 1: Like what is it hurt? Go see doctor Harley. Maybe
- 2:08Speaker 1: she'll say it's nothing too, but she might also say,
- 2:10Speaker 1: holy cow, why did you wait so long?
- 2:12Speaker 2: That usually ends up being the answer.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I saw the look on your face. This is not
- 2:17Speaker 1: an uncommon thing, is it right.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I mean, it's across both sides, men and women. We
- 2:21Speaker 2: tend to just kind of ignore our problems and wait.
- 2:25Speaker 2: And it's never a good idea to wait, because it's
- 2:26Speaker 2: gonna cost you more in the end, and it's gonna
- 2:28Speaker 2: be a lot harder to undo or prevent from getting worse.
- 2:32Speaker 2: So if you're dealing with like a simple acre pain,
- 2:35Speaker 2: you know, come in now, don't wait. This is a
- 2:38Speaker 2: good opportunity to start thinking about even the just at
- 2:41Speaker 2: least sit down with us and we can discuss, you know,
- 2:43Speaker 2: some options, Like you know, maybe I'll be like, yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 2: you're doing all right, just come back when things that's
- 2:47Speaker 2: probably not gonna happen, because if you have an acre pain,
- 2:50Speaker 2: it's your body saying something's not right, something's not working
- 2:53Speaker 2: like it's supposed to. So it's it's good to take
- 2:55Speaker 2: care of it now when it's easier, versus when things
- 2:58Speaker 2: actually break down and fall apart and you need a
- 3:00Speaker 2: lot more advanced medical help at that point.
- 3:03Speaker 1: And then you wake up and you're like, I can't
- 3:04Speaker 1: even get out of bed. Well, it probably didn't start today,
- 3:07Speaker 1: it started a long time ago. You should be following
- 3:09Speaker 1: these warning lights that are popping up and you're like,
- 3:10Speaker 1: ooh this pain, ooh that pain. But again, I think
- 3:14Speaker 1: part of it is like I remember as as a boy,
- 3:17Speaker 1: when I was a young man, when you get hurt,
- 3:19Speaker 1: they would always just say, oh, walk it off right,
- 3:22Speaker 1: that you can walk it off, a little dirt on it.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Tends to have been the consensus for a lot of
- 3:27Speaker 2: people growing up is that we just you know, you
- 3:29Speaker 2: dealt with it, you lived with it.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Times have changed, Chances are you're not going to walk
- 3:33Speaker 1: off everything.
- 3:34Speaker 2: There's more opportunities and more options now that you don't
- 3:37Speaker 2: have to just go to your medical doctor or the er.
- 3:40Speaker 2: You know, there's urgent care. If you did fall and
- 3:42Speaker 2: you're like, ooh, what if I broke something or strain something,
- 3:45Speaker 2: you know, there's walk ins at like the orthopedic clinics
- 3:48Speaker 2: if you're like, I think I sprained something, and then
- 3:51Speaker 2: they can refer you to your pet, or you can
- 3:54Speaker 2: walk into a pet's office and talk to them, or
- 3:56Speaker 2: you can come into a chiropractor's office and we can
- 3:58Speaker 2: start the ball roll in there to figure out, Okay,
- 4:00Speaker 2: what's going on and what's gonna be the best solution
- 4:02Speaker 2: to help you get back on your feet faster.
- 4:04Speaker 1: If somebody listening is going, okay, I had this pain
- 4:06Speaker 1: or I had that pain, and you know what Men's
- 4:08Speaker 1: Health Month, this would be a good excuse. It's a
- 4:10Speaker 1: good excuse cause don't I mean just just say you
- 4:13Speaker 1: know what, I'm gonna do it because of this. Now
- 4:15Speaker 1: you can like suck it up and go do something
- 4:17Speaker 1: good for you. And you could say I'm doing it
- 4:18Speaker 1: because everybody in my life is making me do this.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Now you just take the high road there, but get
- 4:23Speaker 1: in here, check it out. How do they get a
- 4:24Speaker 1: hold of you to find out what's wrong with all
- 4:26Speaker 1: these things that are wrong with me? How can I
- 4:27Speaker 1: fix it all right?
- 4:28Speaker 2: Instead of living in pain. You'll be amazed at how
- 4:30Speaker 2: good you can feel when you start taking care of
- 4:33Speaker 2: your health and your body, because we only get one.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And there are times where I just thought, well, I'm old,
- 4:37Speaker 1: that's just how I feel now. And then we've started
- 4:39Speaker 1: coming here. How long have we been coming here? It's
- 4:40Speaker 1: been me I think like three years. Yeah, so, and
- 4:42Speaker 1: over the last three years, I feel so much better.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I sleep better. We've taken on a massive project, rebuilding
- 4:49Speaker 1: a house. In the midst of all of that, there
- 4:51Speaker 1: were times that I kind of hobble in here. I'm like,
- 4:53Speaker 1: fix me, doctor Harley, and then you do your magic
- 4:55Speaker 1: and snap me back into shape. And again, I can't
- 4:58Speaker 1: even imagine what I would feel like if I didn
- 5:00Speaker 1: come here every week.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And that is something we talk about a lot with patients,
- 5:03Speaker 2: especially when they're a little bit older, and they're like, I,
- 5:05Speaker 2: you know, feel really good or something happened, Like, imagine
- 5:07Speaker 2: what you'd feel if you weren't taking care of you
- 5:09Speaker 2: before this happened.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And there are times where we're gone for a week
- 5:12Speaker 1: and then by the time I come back, I'm like,
- 5:14Speaker 1: I cannot wait to go in and see doctor Harley.
- 5:16Speaker 1: So if somebody right now is sitting there gone, I
- 5:19Speaker 1: need a good excuse to do this Men's Health Month. Guys,
- 5:21Speaker 1: there's your excuse. Come in and see doctor Harley. What
