- 0:08Speaker 1: Get All Advice. Welcome to the weekend edition of the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Naughty But Nice Podcast. I'm Rob Shooter, your host. You
- 0:20Speaker 1: know me as a gossip columnist and entertainment reporter, but
- 0:24Speaker 1: as well as doing that, I'm also a best selling
- 0:27Speaker 1: author and one of the leading experts in change and
- 0:31Speaker 1: habits and motivation. So for ten minutes on the weekend,
- 0:35Speaker 1: we love to bring you these special additions of the
- 0:39Speaker 1: podcast inspired by my book The Foreword Answer. So since
- 0:44Speaker 1: doing these now really at the top of the year,
- 0:46Speaker 1: I think we've done one pretty much every week end
- 0:49Speaker 1: Since the beginning of the year, I've been getting a
- 0:52Speaker 1: ton of questions, so I thought today it would be
- 0:55Speaker 1: fun to go through some of the questions. Our first
- 0:58Speaker 1: question comes from Elie, Hello, Billy and Boston, who said,
- 1:03Speaker 1: what did you learn working with some of the most
- 1:06Speaker 1: successful people on earth? So a little backstory here, Before
- 1:11Speaker 1: I was a gossip columnist as a celebrity publicist, and
- 1:14Speaker 1: I worked with Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Licia Keys, John
- 1:19Speaker 1: bon Jovi, Paris Hilton p did he, Naomi Campbell, Estate Lorder,
- 1:24Speaker 1: even Her Royal Highness Princess Michael of Kent. So I
- 1:27Speaker 1: had a ton of high profile clients, and the question
- 1:31Speaker 1: is what did I learn from working with some of
- 1:34Speaker 1: those amazing people? What I learned was quite simple. Every
- 1:39Speaker 1: successful person I have ever met could describe themselves in
- 1:44Speaker 1: just a few simple words. Entire marketing departments, branding departments,
- 1:50Speaker 1: and PR departments. Their only job was to find out
- 1:55Speaker 1: who they were, who they were, and then promote it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It's the most important and question a personality or a
- 2:02Speaker 1: brand will ever ask, Who are you? I took this
- 2:07Speaker 1: question from clients like s the Louder, from clients like
- 2:11Speaker 1: Jennifer Lopez, and I applied it to my own life.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Answer that question, who are you? I can tell you
- 2:20Speaker 1: that only those comfortable enough in their own skin know
- 2:25Speaker 1: the answer, and only those who know the answer will
- 2:31Speaker 1: be super super successful. So start thinking about that who
- 2:37Speaker 1: are you? In just a few words. Another question I
- 2:40Speaker 1: got was from Claire in Nebraska. Hello Claire, Claire said,
- 2:48Speaker 1: you say kindness is the key to success. I don't
- 2:52Speaker 1: often think about celebrities as being kind. That's a good comment.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Kindness is acceptance, and nobody accepts themselves more than successful people.
- 3:05Speaker 1: There is nothing kinder than accepting yourself. It allows you
- 3:09Speaker 1: to be comfortable in your own skin. It allows you
- 3:14Speaker 1: to be free. People who are kind don't say cruel
- 3:20Speaker 1: things to themselves. People who are kind have silenced theo's
- 3:26Speaker 1: voices inside their heads, voices were unfortunately all have telling
- 3:31Speaker 1: them that they are not good enough. Let me be
- 3:35Speaker 1: clear here about kindness. I'm not saying that you should
- 3:40Speaker 1: not hold open the door of opportunity for other people.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Know what I'm saying is that you need to be
- 3:47Speaker 1: kind enough to open the door of opportunity for yourself.
- 3:54Speaker 1: When you start practicing this very special form of kindness,
- 3:58Speaker 1: you will be the star are in your own life.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Doesn't that sound good? I love this quote by Lady Gaga.
- 4:05Speaker 1: She said, I've been searching for ways to heal myself,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and I've found that kindness is the best way. She's
- 4:14Speaker 1: so right. I wanted to heal all the traumas, all
- 4:18Speaker 1: the past past events in my life, and I found
- 4:22Speaker 1: out that kindness is the best medicine. Putting ourselves first
- 4:28Speaker 1: isn't something that a lot of us practice, but those
- 4:31Speaker 1: who do will thrive and never forget. It doesn't matter
- 4:36Speaker 1: why you are kind, the end result will be the same.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Do you want to know how to be kind. It's
- 4:43Speaker 1: really easy. We are made kind by being kind. That's it.
- 4:48Speaker 1: And nothing is kinder than accepting yourself. I love this
- 4:54Speaker 1: question from Donnie. Hey, it's not add Donnie in LA
- 4:58Speaker 1: this is Donnie in texts us. Hello, Donnie, thank you
- 5:01Speaker 1: for your question. You asked, what's the smartest decision you
- 5:05Speaker 1: have ever made? Oh? That's a good question. Let me think.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Let me take a step back from this and say,
- 5:12Speaker 1: the only thing that makes anybody smart is their willingness
- 5:16Speaker 1: to try. Smart people fail all the time, but they
- 5:20Speaker 1: keep trying. That's what makes them smart. The road to
- 5:24Speaker 1: success is paved with failure. Don't be afraid to fail.
- 5:30Speaker 1: That's the smartest decision that I have ever made. I'm
- 5:34Speaker 1: not afraid to fail. It's not the end of the world.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It's the first step towards learning something better. It was
- 5:41Speaker 1: actually Jessica Simpson who taught me that you have to
- 5:45Speaker 1: work at being the best you, because pretending to be
- 5:49Speaker 1: somebody else it never ever works out. This is why
- 5:54Speaker 1: you have to figure out who you are and then
- 5:58Speaker 1: learn to love and sept that person. For a long time,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I mistakenly brought into the theory that being smart was
- 6:06Speaker 1: a god given gift something that was in your DNA,
- 6:09Speaker 1: but I was wrong being smart, It's just about your
- 6:14Speaker 1: willingness to try. Also to always remember to play a positive,
- 6:18Speaker 1: winning game, not air losing negative. One. One thought at
- 6:22Speaker 1: a time is the only way to win the game
- 6:26Speaker 1: of life. I love this quote from Oscar Wild. The
- 6:31Speaker 1: optimist sees the donut, the pessimist sees the whole. I
- 6:37Speaker 1: see the donut, yummy. I think we have time for
- 6:42Speaker 1: one more question. You're owning your book about how did
- 6:46Speaker 1: he taught you to believe that you are important? How
- 6:51Speaker 1: did you do this? It's a really good question, because
- 6:55Speaker 1: when you believe you are important, you invest in yourself,
- 6:58Speaker 1: You learn your craft. Did he talk to me, I'm
- 7:01Speaker 1: the most important person in my life, and to always
- 7:04Speaker 1: remember that if I'm not doing the work, I don't
- 7:08Speaker 1: deserve the results. You've got to do the work, did
- 7:12Speaker 1: he said? Quote? It always seems impossible until it's done.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Two three years ago, if somebody told me I would
- 7:19Speaker 1: have a top ten podcast, I wouldn't have believed them.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I would have wanted it, but I wouldn't have believed
- 7:26Speaker 1: them because I hadn't done the work. Now, after doing
- 7:31Speaker 1: the work every day for three years, we got really
- 7:34Speaker 1: good at this. I went back and listened to some
- 7:37Speaker 1: of our very early podcasts. Oh my goodness, they were
- 7:41Speaker 1: not so good. They were not very good at all.
- 7:45Speaker 1: But I had to start somewhere. Start at the beginning.
- 7:48Speaker 1: We all start at the beginning, and then do the work. Okay,
- 7:54Speaker 1: I love this question. We're going to squeeze this one in.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I know, I know we're running out of time. But
- 7:59Speaker 1: why do we doubt asks? That's a really, really profound
- 8:02Speaker 1: question from Christine, who doesn't say where she's from, Florida,
- 8:07Speaker 1: Christine from Florida. Here it is that. The answer is easy, Christine.
- 8:11Speaker 1: We doubt ourselves because somebody taught us to doubt ourselves.
- 8:15Speaker 1: This is why you need to get away from those
- 8:17Speaker 1: people in your life. They've done enough damage already. Wouldn't
- 8:21Speaker 1: doubt seeks its clause into you? We seek it out
- 8:26Speaker 1: to comfort us. Then we unknowingly surround ourselves with people
- 8:31Speaker 1: who confirm this ugly lie. The best way to eliminate
- 8:37Speaker 1: self doubt is to be prepared. I love this quote
- 8:41Speaker 1: from Benjamin Franklin, who said, by failing to prepare, you
- 8:47Speaker 1: are preparing to fail. The bigger your dream, the more
- 8:51Speaker 1: time it's going to take to come true, because success
- 8:54Speaker 1: does not happen overnight, which is why you must constantly
- 8:57Speaker 1: remind yourself why you start art it, Why did you
- 9:01Speaker 1: start this? Why do you want it? Write that down
- 9:05Speaker 1: and remind yourself all the time. Hey, that's all we
- 9:10Speaker 1: have time for this week. But I'm loving doing these
- 9:13Speaker 1: que and as if you want to send me a question,
- 9:15Speaker 1: you can send it to Naughty Nice rab at aol
- 9:19Speaker 1: dot com. Naughty Nice rab At aol dot com. That's
- 9:23Speaker 1: my email address. Send me a question though, or you
- 9:25Speaker 1: can hit me up on social media, DNA. Thank you,
- 9:28Speaker 1: thank you, thank you for the questions, and thank you
- 9:30Speaker 1: for listening to this special bonus weekend show. I love
- 9:34Speaker 1: love love doing them, and I love love love hearing
- 9:38Speaker 1: your response, So email me, text me, don't forget to

- 9:44Speaker 1: little bit of help this weekend, don't we all. Hey,
