  the ego and the individual personality people are taught to

  compete to win against others at just about any cost to succeed

  in the self-aggrandizing process in whatever.

  Field of endeavor, one finds oneself consumers, are taught to

  compare their status with that of their neighbors to create,
• 0:49
  even a competition in the signs of affluent.

  An individual and more subtle level.

  Whether one accepts the outer signs of success or not, there

  is a constant dialogue internally about how one

  measures up and there is ambition as well as self-doubt.

  And in some cases, self-loathing that arises from what the

  individual perceives to be an inability to conform to
• 1:20
  expectations or to meet the demands of the It in terms of
• 1:25
  climbing, the ladder of success. These two are evidence of ego

  domination of the standpoint. Yet the spiritual scriptures
• 1:35
  asked us to go beyond the strict limits of the ego and to care
• 1:40
  for others. As if they were ourselves to do
• 1:43
  unto others, as you would have others, do unto you and we are
• 1:47
  called upon to exhibit compassion Goodwill, and various
• 1:52
  forms of self-sacrifice in the interest of the needs of either,
• 1:57
  a greater Unity such as the family, the community the
• 2:01
  society, or the religion Each of which represents simply a larger
• 2:06
  egoism or in some rare instances to loosen the grip of the ego

  itself to move into a more Universal status of
• 2:16
  Consciousness from time to time individuals, experience, a
• 2:21
  sudden opening to a vast Universal awareness, Unbound by
• 2:26
  the body, the life energy, or the mind.

  Untethered from the ego personality and they feel
• 2:35
  liberated from their ego. Generally these moments are
• 2:39
  transitory in nature but with a dedicated sadhna, they can be
• 2:45
  made more and more predominant until the ego Focus disappears.

  This does not mean that the individual personality does not
• 2:54
  exist any longer. As some have held rather the

  individual seen as a Nexus of energy within a larger nyx's and
• 3:05
  framework, and energy flows to, and from this Nexus, without
• 3:09
  particular, reactions of self-aggrandizement or
• 3:13
  self-dealing were Pride. Dr. Dalal writes quote, a

  fundamental characteristic of the normal Consciousness is its
• 3:24
  sense of being a separate self or ego.

  That is a being an individual who exists apart from the rest
• 3:31
  of the Universe. On the other hand, the greater
• 3:35
  Consciousness as described by those who have attained it
• 3:39
  permanently or experienced it momentarily.

  Is unitary Universal and transpersonal, devoid of
• 3:49
  separation, and Division. SRI aurobindo continues, quote,

  the limits of ego, personal mind, and body disappear and one

  becomes aware of a cosmic vastness.

  It is not that the ego, the body, the personal mind

  disappear. But when feels them as only a

  small part of oneself, When begins to feel others to, as

  part of oneself were varied repetitions of oneself.
