- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken, it's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Kate Torber and coming up on today's show, Michaela Tester
- 0:13Speaker 1: denies her engagement is a sham for a green card,
- 0:16Speaker 1: Anna Paul faces the heat in her first public appearance
- 0:19Speaker 1: and our Friday debrief. But first, Bali-based influencer Talia Skanes
- 0:24Speaker 1: has jetted back home to Australia following the shock news
- 0:27Speaker 1: that her Iluatu mansion is up for sale. The lifestyle
- 0:30Speaker 1: influencer revealed she's back on the Gold Coast to work
- 0:32Speaker 1: on her latest renovation project. Soph, can you bring us
- 0:35Speaker 1: up to speed? Well, as we reported on Tuesday's show,
- 0:38Speaker 1: there's been a lot of speculation around why Talia and
- 0:41Speaker 1: her boyfriend, Jake Sajano, are selling their three-story mansion in Iluatu.
- 0:46Speaker 1: The couple moved to Bali just two years ago, and
- 0:48Speaker 1: they documented the build of what they dubbed their dream
- 0:51Speaker 1: home on Talia's YouTube channel. Now, construction on the villa,
- 0:55Speaker 1: which the couple named Casa Su, only finished in September
- 0:58Speaker 1: last year, with Talia posting about final pieces of custom
- 1:01Speaker 1: furniture being installed and how surreal it felt to be
- 1:04Speaker 1: finally living in her dream home. So they really gave
- 1:08Speaker 1: the impression that this villa was going to be their
- 1:10Speaker 1: permanent home at least for a few years, and it
- 1:12Speaker 1: wasn't just some sort of investment property. Now, Talia hasn't
- 1:16Speaker 1: given a reason yet as to why they're selling, which
- 1:19Speaker 1: has led to further speculation. There's a lot of followers
- 1:22Speaker 1: who are questioning, well, is she moving back to Australia?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Have the couple broken up or have they run out
- 1:27Speaker 1: of money? Or maybe was this the plan all along?
- 1:30Speaker 1: Because Jake is a property developer, but again, it was
- 1:33Speaker 1: never sold as being this business opportunity. Well, Talia has
- 1:36Speaker 1: confirmed that she will continue to live in Bali and
- 1:40Speaker 1: she said that she's excited for the future. Jake has
- 1:43Speaker 1: been absent though from her recent vlogs and that has
- 1:45Speaker 1: led to some whisperers.
- 1:47Speaker 2: But Talia addressed.
- 1:48Speaker 1: This in her latest YouTube video saying he's been struck
- 1:51Speaker 1: down with dengue fever and has been bed bound.
- 1:54Speaker 2: That's very Bali for you.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Well, it's interesting because even though Talia and Jacob lived
- 1:59Speaker 1: in Bali for two years and they've been there for
- 2:01Speaker 1: so many different trips, They said that they've rarely been
- 2:04Speaker 1: sick in Bali, so this was a bit of a
- 2:05Speaker 1: shock for them. They've both never had dengue fever. Talia
- 2:08Speaker 1: said both of them have rarely had Bali belly as well.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Their guts are probably immune to it now that they're locals. Well,
- 2:14Speaker 1: Talia surprised everyone on Thursday when she randomly posted that
- 2:18Speaker 1: she was back home on the Gold Coast, which led
- 2:20Speaker 1: to further speculation. But she followed it up with a
- 2:23Speaker 1: YouTube video revealing that she will be in the country
- 2:26Speaker 1: for 10 days because she's preparing to renovate yet another house.
- 2:30Speaker 2: This time, it's one.
- 2:31Speaker 1: That she purchased back in January 2024 on.
- 2:34Speaker 2: The Gold Coast.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Now, on Tuesday, we did discuss that Talia had a
- 2:38Speaker 1: secret project in the works, but she wasn't going to
- 2:41Speaker 1: reveal until later in the year. And I thought perhaps
- 2:44Speaker 1: that this was a new property in Bali that the
- 2:46Speaker 1: couple were developing after the sale of Casa Su, but
- 2:50Speaker 1: she revealed in this new YouTube video that she'll be
- 2:52Speaker 1: taking her followers along for the ride as they renovate
- 2:55Speaker 1: this Australian property.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Here's what she said. I feel like.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Potentially, this could be even more exciting for you guys. Obviously,
- 3:03Speaker 3: it's not gonna be a three-story, massive mansion overlooking Dreamland Beach,
- 3:08Speaker 3: like Casa Su, but it is in Australia. I know
- 3:13Speaker 3: most of my audience on here is in Australia. It's
- 3:16Speaker 3: probably likely that a lot of you will want to
- 3:19Speaker 3: do a renovation in Australia at some point or do
- 3:22Speaker 3: some mild cosmetic renovation on.
- 3:25Speaker 2: A property or whatever. So I feel like it could
- 3:27Speaker 2: be really interesting for you guys.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So did she choose to release the news now rather
- 3:33Speaker 1: than later in the year because of all the speculation
- 3:35Speaker 1: going on about Casa Su? Well, she claimed that she
- 3:37Speaker 1: was holding off from telling everyone about it because she
- 3:40Speaker 1: hadn't worked out which platform she was going to share
- 3:42Speaker 1: the renos on. Do you think she's been following Laura
- 3:44Speaker 1: Byrne and Matty J's renovations of their beach house and
- 3:47Speaker 1: realised that renovating a house in Australia is probably a
- 3:50Speaker 1: lot more profitable from a sponsorship perspective. You can get
- 3:53Speaker 1: Bunnings involved and try and get local deals. I also
- 3:56Speaker 1: think she realises that it's slightly more relatable than renovating
- 4:00Speaker 1: this three-storey Bali mansion because she touched on the fact
- 4:04Speaker 1: that she thinks that, you know, her average watcher will
- 4:07Speaker 1: actually get more from this new renovation channel than they
- 4:10Speaker 1: did from her Casa Sua. I wouldn't say that Maddie
- 4:12Speaker 1: and Laura's house was that relatable though. No, but the
- 4:15Speaker 1: thing that makes it relatable is is that it was
- 4:18Speaker 1: an absolute dump to begin with, as in it was
- 4:20Speaker 1: so run down. It's an interesting niche for Talia though,
- 4:24Speaker 1: to do all of these home renovations, because I've read
- 4:26Speaker 1: a lot about how typical influencers like Talia from back
- 4:30Speaker 1: in the day that were just doing lifestyle vlogs, they're
- 4:32Speaker 1: very much dying out because brands are no longer wanting
- 4:35Speaker 1: to work with them.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I wouldn't even say she was a lifestyle vlogger.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I think originally she was one of the attractive girls
- 4:41Speaker 1: that posted photos and then they tried to move into
- 4:44Speaker 1: the lifestyle space. I think she's always had a bit
- 4:46Speaker 1: of an edge though with travel content, which has set
- 4:48Speaker 1: her apart.
- 4:49Speaker 2: And she's actually great to watch.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I've enjoyed returning to her channel because she gives a
- 4:55Speaker 1: lot of advice on places to go and stay and
- 4:57Speaker 1: eat in Bali.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Like her vlogs are always insightful. Is she a lawyer
- 5:00Speaker 2: as well? She is a lawyer. She's very smart.
- 5:02Speaker 1: She got heavily screwed over before COVID because she launched
- 5:06Speaker 1: her own traveling app. Like I think it was 2020,
- 5:09Speaker 1: literally just as COVID struck. Yeah. Well, I'm still very confused, though,
- 5:13Speaker 1: about why they're selling Casa Su. This hasn't really shed
- 5:15Speaker 1: any light on what their plans are going to be
- 5:17Speaker 1: going forth in Bali.
- 5:18Speaker 2: It's just made things more confusing, if anything.
- 5:21Speaker 4: I have every single person that's ever met the polls
- 5:24Speaker 4: messaging me saying that they are in support of me
- 5:26Speaker 4: and they cannot believe that I have finally come out
- 5:28Speaker 4: and said it.
- 5:30Speaker 1: The war of words has continued between Michaela Testa and
- 5:33Speaker 1: Karina Koff. The OnlyFans stars have taken to Snapchat, of
- 5:37Speaker 1: all places, to take personal potshots at each other. Kate,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you took one for the team and watched Michaela's 30-minute
- 5:44Speaker 1: clapback video. Can you tell us what we missed? Oh,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I really did take one for the team. I'm like,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I better screen record what's going on. Surely it won't
- 5:50Speaker 1: take that long to watch. And You know, when the
- 5:52Speaker 1: little dots, they were so small and I was like,
- 5:54Speaker 1: I'm nearly at the end. And then they kind of
- 5:56Speaker 1: just kept increasing. The worst thing is, I feel like
- 5:59Speaker 1: we're so used to TikTok now where you can put
- 6:01Speaker 1: things in fast forward, but you can't do that on Snapchat.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I know, I was wishing I could put it in
- 6:05Speaker 1: fast forward. Now, amid a lot of complicated friendship drama
- 6:09Speaker 1: around the women's former clique, there were a few nuggets
- 6:12Speaker 1: of gold. The first being that Michaela Tester claims that
- 6:16Speaker 1: Annapole's ex, Glenn Thompson, has been texting her messages of support.
- 6:20Speaker 1: This is, of course, since Michaela put Anna Paul on
- 6:23Speaker 1: blast last month. So while addressing Karina's claims that she's
- 6:26Speaker 1: a compulsive liar, Michaela said this.
- 6:29Speaker 4: This was something that I experienced in my life that
- 6:31Speaker 4: was very traumatic, that I experienced for many years. I
- 6:35Speaker 4: have many receipts to back it up. Glenn Thompson's texting me. saying,
- 6:38Speaker 4: I'm so sorry about all of this. I remember it all.
- 6:41Speaker 4: I'm here supporting you.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Glenn Thompson dated Anna.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Poole for eight years, if you're behind. I have every
- 6:46Speaker 4: single person that's ever met the Pooles messaging me, saying
- 6:50Speaker 4: that they are in support of me and they cannot
- 6:52Speaker 4: believe that I have finally come out and said it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I think to give this a little bit of context,
- 6:57Speaker 1: as Michaela mentioned, Anna and Glenn dated for eight years
- 7:00Speaker 1: before they announced their split in August 2023. And at
- 7:03Speaker 1: the time, the news broke the internet and fans were
- 7:05Speaker 1: left devastated. It's actually our most viewed video on TikTok.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I remember it was a Saturday night. I was sadly
- 7:11Speaker 1: sitting at home, not doing much. And I thought, I've
- 7:13Speaker 1: got to get this out there.
- 7:14Speaker 2: This is huge news for Gen Z.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it ended up clocking up 4 million views. So
- 7:18Speaker 1: people were absolutely devastated by this. Since then, Anna has
- 7:23Speaker 1: painted a pretty unrealistic picture of her and Glenn having
- 7:27Speaker 1: the most amicable breakup in history. So Anna has shared
- 7:30Speaker 1: vlogs of the former couple celebrating Christmas together with their
- 7:33Speaker 1: families and even gave Glenn his dream car. That was
- 7:36Speaker 1: so weird because this was a car that was around
- 7:40Speaker 1: $ 250, 000 plus. And, you know, they just went out to
- 7:44Speaker 1: some casual dinner with both of their families and then
- 7:46Speaker 1: she surprised him with the car in the car park downstairs.
- 7:50Speaker 4: And it's like, sorry.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It almost looked as though she was paying him off
- 7:53Speaker 1: and saying, look, please don't say anything bad about me.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Well, despite this narrative that she's trying to push that
- 7:59Speaker 1: this relationship breakdown was mutual and very amicable, Anna's new boyfriend, Amarik,
- 8:05Speaker 1: has always.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Been the elephant in the room.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So Amarik suddenly started appearing in Anna's vlogs fresh after
- 8:11Speaker 1: the breakup. And at the time, she kept referring to
- 8:12Speaker 1: him as a family friend, but it became very clear
- 8:15Speaker 1: that it was.
- 8:15Speaker 2: More than that.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Well, a lot of people thought he was Addis' boyfriend.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yes, I do remember that.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I mean, he's now a permanent fixture in Anna's vlogs.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I mean, she is still yet to confirm the relationship status,
- 8:25Speaker 1: but it's fairly obvious. There's been a lot of breadcrumbing
- 8:27Speaker 1: about this relationship and it's becoming frustrating for fans because
- 8:30Speaker 1: we'd rather them just be transparent and come out and
- 8:32Speaker 1: say that they're together, particularly because there's members of the
- 8:35Speaker 1: public who are spotting them out about canoodling. For instance,
- 8:38Speaker 1: there was a video of them making out in the
- 8:40Speaker 1: Whitsundays in a pool that went viral on TikTok.
- 8:42Speaker 2: And it's like, We all know you're together. I love
- 8:44Speaker 2: the word canoodling.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I do think it is Anna's inability to address what's
- 8:48Speaker 1: actually going on with Amrik, which has led many people
- 8:50Speaker 1: to believe that perhaps there was a crossover between Glenn
- 8:53Speaker 1: and Amrik. Well, and also, as you said, her behaviour
- 8:56Speaker 1: of perceivably trying to buy him off. Yeah. Well, the
- 8:59Speaker 1: second revelation to come from Michaela's snapped story is that
- 9:02Speaker 1: she plans to permanently move to the US with her
- 9:05Speaker 1: American fiance, Max Crouch.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I wonder if this is after her podcast drops in Australia.
- 9:10Speaker 2: She's like, I'm out of here.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Well, I was wondering if maybe she's going to move
- 9:13Speaker 1: there and release it then because the defamation laws are
- 9:15Speaker 1: different in America.
- 9:17Speaker 2: That's such a good point.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Well, she'd still need to ensure that it met Australia's
- 9:20Speaker 1: defamation laws if she was releasing it in Australia. It
- 9:23Speaker 1: would be different if she only dropped it in America.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that is a good point.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I suppose it depends how she is planning to stream
- 9:30Speaker 1: this podcast. Now, Michaela dropped the news that she's moving
- 9:34Speaker 1: to the US while defending her relationship with the bodybuilder.
- 9:37Speaker 1: She shot down Karina's claims that her relationship was one
- 9:40Speaker 1: of convenience, declaring it's not a big fake sham for
- 9:43Speaker 1: a green card. I can see why Karina is trying
- 9:45Speaker 1: to take this pot shot because anyone who has followed
- 9:48Speaker 1: Michaela closely knows that she is so keen to get
- 9:51Speaker 1: into America. She said that she loves American boys, but
- 9:55Speaker 1: If you look at this couple together, they're both incredibly
- 9:58Speaker 1: good looking, they both seem to have a lot of
- 10:00Speaker 1: interests that are the same. They're both huge on social media.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I don't think that, I mean, if this guy was
- 10:05Speaker 1: some loser that she had just met off the street,
- 10:08Speaker 1: who had nothing going for him.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Maybe you'd think that way, but they're both winners.
- 10:12Speaker 1: It's not like 90 day fiance where you're like, I
- 10:14Speaker 1: smell a rat here. I mean, yes, I understand where
- 10:17Speaker 1: you're coming from, but the timeline of them getting engaged,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I think they were only dating for five months before.
- 10:22Speaker 2: They did get engaged. It's a little bit fishy.
- 10:23Speaker 1: But sometimes this just happens with couples where if they're
- 10:26Speaker 1: from different parts of the world, they know that perhaps
- 10:29Speaker 1: they're going to have to get married in order for
- 10:30Speaker 1: them to live in the same country. It doesn't mean
- 10:32Speaker 1: that she's using him or he's using her.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I thought that's only five months. I felt like they'd
- 10:36Speaker 2: been together for a lot longer than that.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Since they got engaged, no, it was five months between them. Well,
- 10:40Speaker 1: they publicly announced that they were together. Now, Michaela, as
- 10:43Speaker 1: you touched on, Sophie, has a very interesting relationship with
- 10:46Speaker 1: the US. So she has been detained by US border
- 10:50Speaker 1: forces twice and was deported in April 2023. for an
- 10:54Speaker 1: accidental violation of her electronic system for travel authorization known
- 10:58Speaker 1: as an ESTA. Now, despite telling the harrowing story in
- 11:02Speaker 1: detail on her TikTok, on Tuesday night, Michaela changed her
- 11:05Speaker 1: story saying this.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Yes, I had my visa revoked from the United States.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I'm not banned and I'm not deported from the United States.
- 11:15Speaker 4: It's just that my visa was revoked, my e-visa, which
- 11:18Speaker 4: is like the easiest visa you just get it from
- 11:21Speaker 4: typing online. It was revoked. In 2023, I was turned
- 11:24Speaker 4: away and sent back to Australia. That's not getting banned
- 11:29Speaker 4: or deported or whatever. So I don't need a green
- 11:32Speaker 4: card to get into the United States. I could just
- 11:34Speaker 4: apply for another visa and pray, pretty much. So that's
- 11:38Speaker 4: fucking not true.
- 11:40Speaker 1: We reported in a lot of detail on this story
- 11:42Speaker 1: back in April 2023, and there were numerous times on
- 11:45Speaker 1: her TikTok where.
- 11:46Speaker 2: She said, I have been deported.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I don't know if that was in a bid to
- 11:51Speaker 1: create more engagement on her TikTok videos. Yeah, that's what
- 11:54Speaker 1: I was wondering because she has come out recently and
- 11:57Speaker 1: said that she really played up being devastated about her
- 12:00Speaker 1: breakup with Addis Paul. So I think that there is
- 12:03Speaker 1: a lot of manipulating of content going on, which probably
- 12:06Speaker 1: doesn't look the best when you're trying to defend claims
- 12:08Speaker 1: that you're a pathological liar. But also she's accused Anna
- 12:11Speaker 1: Paul of pretty much the same thing for pretending to
- 12:14Speaker 1: be a different person or hyping things up in order
- 12:17Speaker 1: to get views. I mean, Let's be honest, it's what
- 12:19Speaker 1: all influencers do. I think Michaela should have stopped while
- 12:21Speaker 1: she was ahead because she also said this.
- 12:25Speaker 4: I forgot one more thing. She was talking about my
- 12:27Speaker 4: fiance and how I'm using him for a green card.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Although there is some truth to what she is saying
- 12:34Speaker 4: with that, it's just been spun in the worst way
- 12:37Speaker 4: possible to try and make me look like a really
- 12:38Speaker 4: bad person and Max look like he's just getting taken
- 12:41Speaker 4: for a ride when that's not reality at all.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Again, I think the wording is off.
- 12:46Speaker 1: To say that there's some truth to what Karina is
- 12:48Speaker 1: saying about her using her fiance for a green.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Card is rather awkward.
- 12:52Speaker 1: This is why she needs to stick to the script.
- 12:55Speaker 1: It worked really well when she called out Anna Paul
- 12:57Speaker 1: and obviously she thought about what she was going to
- 12:59Speaker 1: say and she had it written in front of her.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I think when you go on a rant, well, a
- 13:04Speaker 1: 30-minute rant on Snapchat, you're getting in dangerous territory. Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 1: And in this bid to defend the relationship, she mentioned
- 13:11Speaker 1: that she was actually talking to Max before she was
- 13:13Speaker 1: detained in the US in April, 2023 to prove that
- 13:17Speaker 1: she was interested in him before he could get her
- 13:20Speaker 1: into the US. It's a really hard situation to be
- 13:23Speaker 1: in when you know how you feel about someone, but
- 13:25Speaker 1: you're trying to defend it. And it's almost like word vomit.
- 13:28Speaker 1: It makes it sound worse. I don't think she has
- 13:29Speaker 1: to prove to anyone that she's in love with her fiance.
- 13:32Speaker 1: She shouldn't have even gone into the weeds of it. Now,
- 13:35Speaker 1: as for the move to the US, Michaela confirmed that
- 13:37Speaker 1: she is planning to permanently relocate to America and has
- 13:41Speaker 1: applied for a K-1 visa. It reminds me so much
- 13:44Speaker 1: of 90 Day Fiancé. And she said that she came
- 13:47Speaker 1: to the decision after Max started getting homesick in Australia.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And she really made a point to say that Max
- 13:52Speaker 1: approached her about it.
- 13:54Speaker 2: She then said this.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Max and I were going through some issues and Corinna
- 13:59Speaker 4: had said to me, what happens if you get to
- 14:01Speaker 4: America and he gets really jealous? And he starts to
- 14:04Speaker 4: like say that you're not allowed to come to my
- 14:06Speaker 4: house and hang out with me and stuff like that.
- 14:08Speaker 4: This was issues that Max and I were working on
- 14:10Speaker 4: at the time. And I don't even fucking want to
- 14:12Speaker 4: come on here and say this shit. But we did
- 14:14Speaker 4: have issues just like any other relationship. A small issue
- 14:17Speaker 4: that has been completely resolved now. I mentioned to her, well,
- 14:20Speaker 4: like I'm going to go to the United States and
- 14:22Speaker 4: see how it goes then. I don't believe that he's
- 14:23Speaker 4: going to do that to me, but we'll see type vibe.
- 14:26Speaker 4: That's what she's going on. Shut the fuck up. Like
- 14:29Speaker 4: tell the full story.
- 14:30Speaker 2: If you're going to tell the story.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Don't just not give context and try and paint a
- 14:33Speaker 4: whole relationship as this big fake sham for a green card.
- 14:37Speaker 1: It would be really annoying for Michaela to actually have
- 14:39Speaker 1: to confirm that her and her fiance have been arguing
- 14:42Speaker 1: because it really does provide fuel to Karina's claims that
- 14:46Speaker 1: they're having all these issues and she's just using him
- 14:48Speaker 1: for a green card. Just shows how low some of
- 14:50Speaker 1: these TikTokers will go for views though. Like the fact
- 14:53Speaker 1: that they're each attacking each other so much about their
- 14:55Speaker 1: personal lives. This wasn't even on TikTok. And I do
- 14:57Speaker 1: want to talk about the fact that this war of
- 14:58Speaker 1: words broke out on Snapchat because Snapchat is really trying
- 15:03Speaker 1: hard to lure top creators back to their platform for
- 15:06Speaker 1: a long time now. In the past year, creators posting
- 15:09Speaker 1: publicly on Snapchat has actually tripled And it looks like
- 15:13Speaker 1: that number is likely to increase because they have now
- 15:16Speaker 1: launched this new monetization program. So they've been really strategic
- 15:20Speaker 1: with the way they've gone about it because they announced
- 15:23Speaker 1: this new program in December when the US was trying
- 15:26Speaker 1: to ban TikTok. And the new program officially launched in
- 15:29Speaker 1: February and it gives creators more ways to make money
- 15:32Speaker 1: on Snapchat. So previously, the platform paid influencers some of
- 15:37Speaker 1: the money that they earned from the ads placed within
- 15:39Speaker 1: their SnapStories. But now it's expanding the program to include
- 15:43Speaker 1: ads that are within the longer spotlight videos. Now, I
- 15:47Speaker 1: still use Snapchat, but I didn't even know what spotlight
- 15:49Speaker 1: videos were until.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I did a bit of digging.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And basically, they're just literally Snapchat's version of the TikTok
- 15:56Speaker 1: for you page. There are a lot of rumors going
- 15:58Speaker 1: around that influencers and also reality stars are being paid
- 16:01Speaker 1: a lot of money by Snapchat, not only to promote it,
- 16:03Speaker 1: but to return.
- 16:04Speaker 4: To the app.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Because A few years ago, it was very much dying.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Nobody used Snapchat. And especially publicly, like you might use
- 16:12Speaker 1: it to send stuff to your friends.
- 16:13Speaker 2: But you wouldn't.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I don't know if I agree with this strategic move
- 16:15Speaker 1: from Snapchat. Because for me, the lure of Snapchat has
- 16:18Speaker 1: always been that it's a way to connect with your friends.
- 16:21Speaker 1: You don't have to get caught.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Up in online drama involving celebrities and influencers.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I don't go there to find out news or information
- 16:28Speaker 1: about other people's lives. I want to connect with my
- 16:30Speaker 1: friends on there. But that means it will be the
- 16:32Speaker 1: platform that you can do all of those things on.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Yeah, but.
- 16:35Speaker 2: But we've already got places to do it. I just
- 16:37Speaker 2: think it becomes too confusing.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Well, there are reports that Instagram might be launching a
- 16:42Speaker 1: separate app for Reels. And this is off the back
- 16:45Speaker 1: of the looming TikTok ban in the US. So you
- 16:47Speaker 1: can see there are a lot of apps that are
- 16:49Speaker 1: hoping to benefit off the potential ban. Yeah, you can
- 16:52Speaker 1: see the big players in the social media space are
- 16:54Speaker 1: scrambling to take hold of TikTok users if they get
- 16:57Speaker 1: the opportunity. And it's really clear that the move from
- 17:00Speaker 1: Snapchat is to get the big creators back on because
- 17:03Speaker 1: with this monetization program, You actually have to hit pretty
- 17:07Speaker 1: high benchmarks to be invited to be part of the program.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So creators must have 50,000 followers and either 10 million
- 17:14Speaker 1: snap views or 1 million spotlight views or 12 hours
- 17:18Speaker 1: of watch time in the last 28 days. And you
- 17:20Speaker 1: also have to post really consistently at least 25 times
- 17:24Speaker 1: a month. So you can see why Michaela Testa and
- 17:26Speaker 1: Karina Koff have decided to air these very long rants
- 17:30Speaker 1: at each other. on a platform like Snapchat because when
- 17:33Speaker 1: I was watching Michaela's videos, there were so many ads
- 17:36Speaker 1: in it and she is really banking up her hours,
- 17:39Speaker 1: no doubt to make big money off it. Do you
- 17:41Speaker 1: guys think this adds to the theory that this is
- 17:43Speaker 1: a completely orchestrated argument between this pair?
- 17:46Speaker 2: Well, it wouldn't surprise me.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Is this like the female version of Jake Paul getting
- 17:50Speaker 1: in the ring and having his fake boxing matches? It's
- 17:53Speaker 1: definitely lucrative for both of them to be involved in
- 17:55Speaker 1: this feud and it seems like Karina Koff has just
- 17:58Speaker 1: inserted herself into the drama. And Michaela's been like, well,
- 18:01Speaker 1: fuck yeah, Anna Paul's not responding to me.
- 18:03Speaker 2: She's ignoring all of the drama. Let's fight with this girl.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Well, the fact that they were friends before and also
- 18:09Speaker 1: now that Michaela has said that she plans to move
- 18:11Speaker 1: to the US because fighting with a US creator gives
- 18:14Speaker 1: her credibility on the US stage. I think she really
- 18:17Speaker 1: wants to make it big in America. And this is
- 18:20Speaker 1: a step forward because made big headlines in Australia and
- 18:23Speaker 1: the US when she took on Anna Paul. If anyone
- 18:26Speaker 1: from Snapchat is listening, our one suggestion is please put
- 18:29Speaker 1: the fast forward feature on the stories though.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I'm ready for F1, day one.
- 18:36Speaker 1: TikToker Anna Paul has faced the heat in her first
- 18:38Speaker 1: public appearance in Australia since the I felt broke controversy.
- 18:42Speaker 1: The OnlyFans creator was invited by American Express to attend
- 18:46Speaker 1: its F1 VIP lounge, which was part of the F1 paddock.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I'd love to know when the invites went out. Did
- 18:52Speaker 1: she get it before the scandal broke? And with the
- 18:54Speaker 1: PR team, like, holy shit, do we uninvite her or.
- 18:56Speaker 2: What do we do here?
- 18:57Speaker 1: Well, Sam Magnin, who runs a very successful PR company
- 19:00Speaker 1: called Spin & Co, he actually popped up in one
- 19:02Speaker 1: of Anna's vlogs about her day at the F1. And
- 19:05Speaker 1: he is also her business partner in Pauly. So I
- 19:08Speaker 1: wonder if he was part of inviting her to the
- 19:10Speaker 1: event or or whether she was invited by another PR
- 19:13Speaker 1: firm and they were just catching up. I wonder if
- 19:15Speaker 1: he wanted to be in that vlog because a lot
- 19:18Speaker 1: of people have been questioning who was Anna's PR team.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And, you know, he is connected. He has got a
- 19:23Speaker 2: PR company.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I'd be very surprised if he was involved in her statement.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I still think it's a win for the F1 having
- 19:28Speaker 1: a rock up, though, because it adds a bit of drama. Well, unsurprisingly,
- 19:32Speaker 1: she hung out most of the time at the paddock,
- 19:34Speaker 1: which is basically where all of the rich and famous
- 19:36Speaker 1: people converged. And it's where they've got all of these
- 19:39Speaker 1: high dining experiences and all of the best views of
- 19:42Speaker 1: the track. And they also have the opportunity to rub
- 19:45Speaker 1: shoulders with the F1 drivers and teams and watch the
- 19:48Speaker 1: cars get worked on. so there's a lot of jealousy
- 19:50Speaker 1: involved with who actually gets to attend these events and
- 19:54Speaker 1: while she did spend most of her time there she
- 19:56Speaker 1: did have to venture into the crowds to make her
- 19:59Speaker 1: way up to the various vip areas And last year
- 20:03Speaker 1: when she attended the F1, TikTok was full of fans
- 20:06Speaker 1: posting sightings of her at the event and gushing about
- 20:09Speaker 1: how excited they were to see their.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Queen in the flesh.
- 20:12Speaker 1: But this year was a very different story because I
- 20:14Speaker 1: saw so many videos of people mocking her. So they'd
- 20:18Speaker 1: see her out and about at the F1, they'd film her,
- 20:21Speaker 1: and then they kept using the viral I felt broke audio.
- 20:24Speaker 1: One that was getting a lot of attention was A
- 20:27Speaker 1: video of Anna at the paddock and they created a
- 20:30Speaker 1: video questioning if she felt broke watching the F1s from
- 20:33Speaker 1: the pit. There was another TikTok user who posted a
- 20:36Speaker 1: video from where they were watching it in the GA area.
- 20:40Speaker 1: And I think it was the Sunday where there was
- 20:42Speaker 1: really bad weather. There was a lot of rain and
- 20:44Speaker 1: all of the people in the GA area were basically stuck.
- 20:48Speaker 2: In the mud.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Like the whole thing had turned into this mud pit.
- 20:50Speaker 1: And they wrote, point of view, you don't have a
- 20:52Speaker 1: paddock pass on race day.
- 20:54Speaker 2: With the I felt broke audio over the top.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I think the only way that Anna's going to move
- 20:59Speaker 1: on from this is if she starts to embrace it
- 21:01Speaker 1: and inserts herself into some of the fun.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Well, she's got to poke fun at herself and be self-deprecating.
- 21:06Speaker 1: And I think the more Michaela Testa uses her platforms
- 21:09Speaker 1: to put Anna Paul on blast and then have these
- 21:12Speaker 1: arguments with Karina Koff and then put out the podcast,
- 21:14Speaker 1: I think by the time this podcast drops, people are
- 21:17Speaker 1: going to be over it and going to be like, oh,
- 21:19Speaker 1: I just want to watch Anna's cool travel vlogs. It's
- 21:21Speaker 1: a bit like Chloe and Mitch Orville's strategy. they just
- 21:24Speaker 1: put their head down and focused on themselves. It's a
- 21:27Speaker 1: royal family strategy, really. And after a year or so,
- 21:29Speaker 1: everyone was like, oh, they're not that bad. It doesn't
- 21:31Speaker 1: seem to be working though, because whenever she uploads a
- 21:33Speaker 1: new vlog, I instantly go to the comment section to
- 21:36Speaker 1: sort of gauge the vibe. And you can really feel
- 21:39Speaker 1: the frustration in the comment section. One user wrote under
- 21:42Speaker 1: the vlogs, the vlogs don't hit the same anymore. The
- 21:44Speaker 1: trust has been broken. Whilst another said, I get a
- 21:47Speaker 1: weird feeling every time you post a new video. The
- 21:50Speaker 1: vlogs really have had a different vibe. And I've noticed
- 21:53Speaker 1: that she has been speaking a lot more about getting drunk.
- 21:56Speaker 1: For instance, in one of the F1 vlogs, she was
- 21:59Speaker 1: talking about how she and her friends were going out
- 22:01Speaker 1: early that day and making sure they had a big
- 22:02Speaker 1: breakfast to line their tummies. And then she was showing
- 22:05Speaker 1: them drinking all these cocktails at the marquee and eating
- 22:09Speaker 1: all this lavish food.
- 22:10Speaker 2: And it just came across as very out of touch.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I mean, her vlogs have always been completely out of touch,
- 22:15Speaker 1: but then she would put on this nice girl persona
- 22:19Speaker 1: that was like, oh, I deserve all of this because
- 22:20Speaker 1: I'm really nice to my family. And now that people think, oh,
- 22:22Speaker 1: that might've been a bit of a charade, people are like, oh,
- 22:25Speaker 1: this doesn't hit the same.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I noticed Addis was MIA in her vlog.
- 22:29Speaker 1: And it also appears that he didn't attend the Grand
- 22:31Speaker 1: Prix because no one posted seeing him.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Do you think he's fearing for his own safety at
- 22:36Speaker 2: the moment?
- 22:37Speaker 1: I definitely think he wouldn't feel safe going out to
- 22:39Speaker 1: an event like this, particularly one where there's a lot
- 22:42Speaker 1: of young people like Gen Zers who know who he is.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I think he would be scared of getting abused in public.
- 22:48Speaker 1: And I also think that Anna doesn't feel comfortable to
- 22:51Speaker 1: post with him yet because she just knows that he's
- 22:54Speaker 1: going to be the focus and her comments are already
- 22:57Speaker 1: so bad at the moment. Well, at the start of
- 22:58Speaker 1: this topic I said I wonder if American Express were
- 23:00Speaker 1: regretting inviting Anna Paul and I wonder when.
- 23:02Speaker 2: She actually got the invites. Perhaps they stipulated that she.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Wasn't allowed to bring at a school because you don't
- 23:08Speaker 1: really want that around your brand.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Definitely. That's a really good point.
- 23:12Speaker 1: One of my favorite comments though, in the first vlog
- 23:15Speaker 1: that she uploaded at the Grand Prix, it was a
- 23:18Speaker 1: really hot day. So the first day, day one was
- 23:20Speaker 1: really hot and then the weather turned shit. But basically
- 23:22Speaker 1: she was saying how hot she was and she was
- 23:24Speaker 1: sweating and people were In the comment section was saying, oh,
- 23:27Speaker 1: better not go out for a hug because she hates
- 23:29Speaker 1: sweaty people.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Well, all of this drama has really affected her views.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Her TikTok numbers are down. Her followers are dropping.
- 23:37Speaker 1: It's pretty crazy because she usually gets at least a
- 23:40Speaker 1: couple of million views for each of her videos constantly.
- 23:43Speaker 1: But her last few vlogs have only sat around the
- 23:45Speaker 1: 400 to 600,000 view mark. God, the fact that people
- 23:49Speaker 1: aren't even hate watching anymore. Well, yeah, I thought all
- 23:51Speaker 1: of the hate comments might lead to more engagement, but
- 23:54Speaker 1: they haven't been. Yeah, well, it shows just how much
- 23:56Speaker 1: your videos are impacted if you lose a couple of
- 23:58Speaker 1: million followers. Like the algorithm must be off for her now.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Let's get into our Friday debrief and I'm going to
- 24:04Speaker 1: kick us off. So I had a really great weekend
- 24:07Speaker 1: because Rhys and I had our first night out since
- 24:10Speaker 1: Jack was born nine months ago. So While we have
- 24:13Speaker 1: gone out to different occasions, we've always brought.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Dak with us.
- 24:16Speaker 1: So it was really weird to go just with my handbag,
- 24:19Speaker 1: not some big baby bag and a pusher and a
- 24:21Speaker 1: travel cot. And, of course, Jack, when we were walking
- 24:23Speaker 1: to the restaurant, we're like, this is so weird. I'm
- 24:26Speaker 1: disappointed I didn't see a photo of your outfit because
- 24:28Speaker 1: you guys went to a country, was it a country
- 24:31Speaker 1: western diamond theme party?
- 24:33Speaker 2: Was that it?
- 24:34Speaker 1: So we had a 40th and it was a Rodeo
- 24:38Speaker 1: Diamante or something theme. I think it was the same
- 24:40Speaker 1: theme that Khloe Kardashian had for a 40th. I'm disturbed
- 24:43Speaker 1: that we're going to 40ths now. It seems like it
- 24:46Speaker 1: was 21st not that long ago. To be fair, it's
- 24:48Speaker 1: a work colleague of Reese's. It's not York.
- 24:50Speaker 2: She is a friend now, but you know what I mean?
- 24:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Well, it's actually making me excited for our 40th because
- 24:54Speaker 1: I think people should celebrate these milestones. And what was
- 24:57Speaker 1: really cool was it actually turned into a surprise wedding.
- 25:00Speaker 1: So during the speeches, they were like, oh, we've actually
- 25:03Speaker 1: got a celebrant here. We're going to get married. So
- 25:05Speaker 1: that was really cool. And it's so funny because I
- 25:07Speaker 1: say not out, but we ended up getting home at
- 25:09Speaker 1: 11 o'clock. I text mom at 1030, like we're on
- 25:11Speaker 1: our way home. And it's funny because when you become parents,
- 25:14Speaker 1: you also in your relationship with your parents revert back
- 25:17Speaker 1: to childhood because now I need either my parents or
- 25:21Speaker 1: Rhys's parents to come over so we can go out.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Like you need their permission, mum, can I go out tonight? Yeah,
- 25:25Speaker 1: and like, I'm coming home. Anyway, mum replied being like,
- 25:27Speaker 1: are you sure? I think she thought we were going
- 25:29Speaker 1: to stay out way later. But yeah, it was a
- 25:31Speaker 1: great night. I didn't have such a good weekend. I've
- 25:33Speaker 1: got another update on my rentals, which hasn't been fantastic.
- 25:36Speaker 1: How is hotel haircut going?
- 25:39Speaker 2: She's coming along. She's coming along. She's under renovation. A
- 25:43Speaker 2: bit more polished, but basically... We found.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Out on the weekend that we have asbestos in our
- 25:50Speaker 1: kitchen and laundry area, which we've been renovating. Thank God
- 25:54Speaker 1: no one cut into it. So basically, for those who
- 25:57Speaker 1: aren't up to speed with my renos, we've been completely
- 26:00Speaker 1: doing up our kitchen and laundry area ourselves. When I
- 26:03Speaker 1: say ourselves, I haven't actually been doing anything. My in-laws
- 26:06Speaker 1: and Brandon have been doing everything because it's one of
- 26:08Speaker 1: those like DIY kits that we've got. And this is
- 26:11Speaker 1: a much more relatable reno than Casa Su.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 2: My God. Very low scale. But basically, yes. So we
- 26:19Speaker 2: discovered that we.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Had asbestos in a section above our sink area. Luckily,
- 26:25Speaker 1: this guy that Brandon found, he removed it for only
- 26:29Speaker 1: 250 bucks.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Was he legit? He was legit. But he said he
- 26:32Speaker 2: didn't wear a hazmat suit.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Well, he didn't because apparently, like I've learned that there's
- 26:36Speaker 1: different grades of asbestos. This was, I think it was
- 26:39Speaker 1: B grade or something or second grade.
- 26:40Speaker 2: It wasn't as bad.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Anyway, we weren't going to get the asbestos removed in
- 26:43Speaker 1: our laundry because But we've discovered that in order to
- 26:46Speaker 1: put all of the laundry equipment in, we potentially may
- 26:49Speaker 1: have to drill into the wall. So we just don't
- 26:50Speaker 1: feel safe not removing it. So there's another thousand dollars
- 26:54Speaker 1: that we're spending tomorrow. I've got to be out of
- 26:55Speaker 1: the house for a couple of hours with Archie and I. Well,
- 26:58Speaker 1: just to end this podcast on a high, I have
- 27:00Speaker 1: got some really exciting news and it is the date
- 27:02Speaker 1: of my C-section.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Or your baby's birthday. Yeah, my baby's birthday. Isn't it
- 27:07Speaker 2: weird when they ring you and you're like, oh, is
- 27:09Speaker 2: this day okay? And you're like, wow, it's a pretty
- 27:11Speaker 2: pivotal day for the rest of my life. I had
- 27:13Speaker 2: to ring them because.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Originally, I was told, oh, you'll get the call seven
- 27:17Speaker 1: weeks out from the C-section date.
- 27:21Speaker 2: And I was waiting and waiting. And I thought, stuff it,
- 27:23Speaker 2: I'm going to call them up. And they're like, oh, yeah, yeah,
- 27:25Speaker 2: we've booked in the baby's birthday or whatever as X.
- 27:30Speaker 1: And I'm apparently second on the list, which is really
- 27:32Speaker 1: exciting because you were third.
- 27:34Speaker 2: And that took all day to get you through.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I was behind two second cesareans, so women that
- 27:40Speaker 1: had already had a previous cesarean.
- 27:41Speaker 2: So apparently it's a little bit more complex.
- 27:43Speaker 1: So yeah. Yeah, I got there at 10am and didn't
- 27:46Speaker 1: get to go in until about four. Well, I don't
- 27:48Speaker 1: know if TikTok is secretly listening into my conversations, but
- 27:51Speaker 1: I have just been flooded with TikToks on cesarean births,
- 27:55Speaker 1: which I don't necessarily think is a good thing because
- 27:57Speaker 1: a lot of them have been quite negative.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Well, why not pick my brain about it?
- 28:00Speaker 4: No, I know.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Well, did you get the shakes?
- 28:03Speaker 3: No, I didn't.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Okay, because a lot of women are complaining about the
- 28:06Speaker 1: shakes and vomiting and all this kind of stuff.
- 28:09Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, I need to get off this algorithm. No,
- 28:11Speaker 2: I didn't get any of that.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Not to say it's not going to happen to you,
- 28:13Speaker 1: but I think it's good that you know that there's
- 28:15Speaker 1: a long wait period because I'm thinking maybe Soph and
- 28:19Speaker 1: I can go in and kind of do a little
- 28:20Speaker 1: bit of a rotation.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Because it was just me. Are you allowed to do that?
- 28:23Speaker 4: Why not?
- 28:24Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know anything about it.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I mean, I said to Dale, maybe he should bring
- 28:27Speaker 1: some card games, bring in his Switch, all that sort
- 28:29Speaker 1: of stuff.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Yeah, we were just scrolling on our phones. I actually
- 28:31Speaker 2: started playing Tetris.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Well, it's sort of like you're waiting for the firing
- 28:35Speaker 1: squad almost. Like you're just sitting there like. We had
- 28:38Speaker 1: to wait so long that it was so exciting when
- 28:40Speaker 1: they actually came.
- 28:41Speaker 2: In and were like, you're next. And then also.
- 28:43Speaker 1: You're yay.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:44Speaker 1: And also because I hadn't eaten or, you know, allowed
- 28:46Speaker 1: to drink water until then, I think like 4am or something.
- 28:50Speaker 1: So did Rhys actually watch the surgery? Because I said
- 28:52Speaker 1: that to Dale last night. I said, will you actually
- 28:55Speaker 1: peek over and see all my like insides and all
- 28:57Speaker 1: of that?
- 28:58Speaker 2: And he's like, I don't know.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Because he normally likes all of that gory stuff, like
- 29:01Speaker 1: all the.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Pimple popper videos.
- 29:03Speaker 1: But he said when it's someone that you actually know
- 29:05Speaker 1: and love, it's a little bit different. Yeah, Rhys did look,
- 29:07Speaker 1: but he's the type of person that said he would
- 29:09Speaker 1: love to sit in on a surgery.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Like he loves that kind of stuff. Just my tip
- 29:14Speaker 2: is don't look up.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 2: The reflective surfaces. Like I saw way too much.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I've joked that I'd like to roll in just with
- 29:20Speaker 1: sunglasses on. Cause I feel like it makes you feel
- 29:22Speaker 1: a bit disconnected from the whole experience.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah. I don't know if they'd allow that. They
- 29:27Speaker 2: kind of have to make sure that your eyes are
- 29:29Speaker 2: all right.
- 29:29Speaker 1: I also want, if anyone has some suggestions of songs
- 29:33Speaker 1: to play, cause you do get to choose what album
- 29:36Speaker 1: you have on. I mean, predictably I'm thinking Taylor Swift,
- 29:39Speaker 1: but I don't know if I want to associate if
- 29:41Speaker 1: it's a really negative experience. If I get the shakes
- 29:43Speaker 1: or I'm vomiting, I don't know if I want to
- 29:44Speaker 1: have Taylor playing. Generally, the birth of your child is
- 29:46Speaker 1: a positive experience.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 29:48Speaker 1: I know.
- 29:48Speaker 2: But you know what I mean?
- 29:49Speaker 1: Like, I remember when I got some laser done on
- 29:52Speaker 1: some of my freckles and I was blaring Taylor Swift
- 29:55Speaker 1: and it really ruined this song. Yeah.
- 29:58Speaker 2: I wish I had thought about.
- 29:59Speaker 1: The song because they asked me and I just said
- 30:00Speaker 1: Taylor Swift and I don't even recall what song was
- 30:03Speaker 1: playing when.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Jack was born.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I had a thought the other day because Dale and
- 30:07Speaker 1: I really love collectively listening to the Spice Girls, which.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Sounds a bit odd. Can you imagine having that play?
- 30:13Speaker 2: Stop right now. Yeah. Well, that's where we're going to
- 30:16Speaker 2: leave things today.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Thank you again for listening to another episode of Outspoken.
- 30:20Speaker 1: If you do enjoy the podcast, we would really appreciate
- 30:22Speaker 1: it if you could leave.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Us a review. This podcast was recorded.
