- 1:38episode of the Adventures of Philip Marlow. The original air Nate on. This
- 1:44week's episode is January fourteenth, nineteen fifty and the title is The Covered Bridge.
- 1:51Get This and get it straight. Crime is a sucker's road, and
- 1:53those who travel and wind up in the gut of the prism of the grave.
- 1:57This time, everything that happens, from the orange head man with a
- 2:00map, passed the oaf with a pitchfork, to the body at the covered
- 2:02bridge was wrong, dead wrong. From the pen of Raymond Chandler, outstanding
- 2:08author of crime fiction, comes his most famous character in the Adventures of Philip
- 2:15Marlowe. Now with Gerald Moore starred as Philip Marlowe, we bring you tonight's
- 2:29exciting story the Cupboard Bridge. You know, every once in a while into
- 2:50the life of one Philip Marlowe, a little peace and quiet must fall,
- 2:55a day marked by neither murder nor mayhem, no phone calls, just nothing.
- 3:00I'm just beginning to like it too. When the door opened and a
- 3:04head full of slick orange hair walked in, it was not a man wearing
- 3:07a new flannel suit, a handpainted tie in a reckless grin. He shoved
- 3:12the telephone out of his ways, sat down on the corner of my desk
- 3:15and sized me up with a pair of careful gray eyes. Got a proposition
- 3:20for you, Laddie, Tell me about it. Let you know. If
- 3:23I'm interested. You should be. There's good money in it. It's not
- 3:24always the answer. Go ahead, got a good car, good enough?
- 3:29I don't keep it in the off You like Mexico? Look? Is this
- 3:32a social call or a quiz program? This is business. I asked your
- 3:37question. Yeah, I like Mexico. I don't like you. That's good
- 3:40because you're gonna drive a couple of friends of me down there. Name your
- 3:45price? Not interested? Thousand bucks? Not interested? That's too bad.
- 3:50Would have been nicer to work this out without a gun, laddie. This
- 3:54gun is bigger than both of them. Are you going to drive across a
- 3:59Mexican border tonight with three passengers? And it won't be any difficult questions because
- 4:03you were the well known signor Philip Marlowe, a respectable bride detective somewhere below
- 4:10the body your fellow travelers, or catch a boat, But this you don't
- 4:13have to worry about. Look just a minute, right, laddie. I
- 4:15came to here for several reasons, one of which is that you're smart enough
- 4:17to know when to quit fighting the problem you got to make a stop for
- 4:21So let's go and leave your artillery in the drawer. Come on, yeah,
- 4:29sure, Since I'm now an old palliods, what do I call it?
- 4:32You you pick it? Believe me, you won't like it. How
- 4:36about George? You like George? Not particularly good? Just call me George.
- 4:42Let's go, Marlo. We nodded at the elevator girl, wave goodbye
- 4:50to the kid in the parking lot, and headed south on Highway one oh
- 4:54one, all with the front of that mouser nudging my kidney. It was
- 4:59cruel, but I was on my way to Mexico. Don't get ambitious,
- 5:02Marlow. Not too fast, not too slow, just keep it rolling,
- 5:06nice and steady. I did what I was told once for a break for
- 5:11every foot of one hundred miles down the coast. At ocean side, we
- 5:15cut inland past Escondido and up into the Citrus country. Once he dug a
- 5:19little map from his pocket and studied it while we headed into the hills where
- 5:23farms were farther apart. George was busy looking for a turn off when my
- 5:28chance came, and it came fast. My foot slammed down hard on the
- 5:32winchhie. My gun slipped out of his hand. I dropped two wheels and
- 5:36fitch, but I got the gun. He took one look, then jumped
- 5:40out and ran in a low cross from the back of the car. Before
- 5:43I could follow him, I heard the truck coming. It was a big
- 5:45two section chop rolling fast. It topped the rise just as George pivoted toward
- 5:48the road. The truck driver must have seen him, just he had bright
- 5:54flock on all twenty six wheels at the tab. I ran away. George
- 5:58lay like at his cut a dollar out of the road. The truck driver
- 6:00was out of his cab before it stopped rolling. I didn't see him.
- 6:03I didn't see him. I come over the right there. I didn't see
- 6:06it. Make it easy, honest, I didn't see him. Is he
- 6:09all right? He ain't that is he? Oh? No, he isn't.
- 6:12They won't be walking much anymore. It wasn't my fault, mister,
- 6:15honest, I know it wasn't. Get hold of itself. Gosh, what
- 6:18should we do? I want you to drive to the nearest phone and get
- 6:20the police, then come back. Here's my card. Give it to the
- 6:25trooper. Tell him I can reach me at my office. Eh, what
- 6:27are you going to do? Figure out how to read this map of his
- 6:30I'm gonna pay a call on a couple of people who are expecting this guy.
- 6:32Maybe it's just a stubborn street, but when I'm being used as that
- 6:35Patsy, I like to meet the people involved. As I drove, I
- 6:47studied the map, and two miles down the highway, I found the first
- 6:50landmark, a dead tree. There I left the highway and followed a rocky
- 6:56trail seven corkscrew miles up a canyon to the next landmark, a bridge,
- 7:00one that looked like it had been lifted out of some rustic Connecticut woods and
- 7:03dropped across the California Gorge, purely by mistake, because it was covered complete
- 7:09to roof and walls and made entirely of lumber. And on the hill beyond
- 7:14was a lonely house where the trail marked on the map end. I drove
- 7:18slowly through the sagging wood tunnel, and at the other end deliberately killed my
- 7:23motor and I got out raised the hood and went to work on the distributor.
- 7:29I don't know where he came from, but when I glanced up,
- 7:31he was standing there watching me, a bull and overalls with a pitchfork clenched
- 7:35in a pair of hands as thick as four dollar stakes. We didn't like
- 7:40each other's looks. You picked a bad place for trouble. Missed in.
- 7:44That's so why nobody almost never comes up this road, especially strangers. I'll
- 7:51come you took it? You really want to know? You're just killing time.
- 7:55I wouldn't be too smart ify with you missed in? Uh living that
- 8:00house up there? No, not anymore. I got canned for drinking.
- 8:05Why are you so interested in that place? The only farm around here?
- 8:09Maybe they got a mechanic. Yeah, where'd you say you were from?
- 8:13La Los Angeles? Time? You're real sure you don't know anybody up there
- 8:20on the hill, like who, for instance, a certain party who took
- 8:24a trip to La not so long ago in another thing city. Boy,
- 8:31don't get out of line or I'll fix you. Good understand? Oh yeah,
- 8:54Now, I mean, how do you do you want something? Yes,
- 9:00my car is still at the bottom of the hill. Who's there?
- 9:05A man? Uncle water? He says, he's corbro down. What's that
- 9:09carbro down? You say, yeah, I don't know what went wrong.
- 9:13Mister. My name is Brule Walter. I'm glad to know you. I'm
- 9:18philam Malow. What are you doing on this road, mister marlow I thought
- 9:22it was a shortcutchu as you were wrong. It's a dead ends. Thanks.
- 9:31Look, mister Brule, I'd like to have somebody who knows motors came
- 9:33down and look at my car. All right? Then Ed comes in.
- 9:37I guess he could go down this year. Oh that's my new hired hand
- 9:43ed Fry. I don't know, uncle Water, it's getting pretty dark.
- 9:48Yeah, I was taking the same thing myself. As a matter of fact,
- 9:50if you've been accommodate me, mister Brule, I just as soon risked
- 9:52up a while and shove off in the morning. I want to pay you
- 9:56for everything. Of course, stay overnight. Oh I I'm afraid that's impossible.
- 10:03Impossible. Why what's the matter with you, Dolly? If necessary,
- 10:09I'm sure we're going to arrange to take care of mister Marlowe some way.
- 10:15Oh okay, that's better. Now. If you want me, Dalla,
- 10:18I'll be out in the barn. Make yourself comfortable. Mister Marlowe. Your
- 10:26uncle huh, he owns this place. My mother was his favorite. Sister.
- 10:33You won a cup of coffee, I'd love it. I haven't had
- 10:35any farm kitchen coffee in ages you. You don't seem to have any visitors
- 10:41at this way, Dolly, huh No, not many. Nice farm though
- 10:46thinks that's why you run off to l A know, man, how did
- 10:50you know about that? I guess I ran into a friend of yours at
- 10:54the bottom of the hill. Pair of overgrown shoulders with a pitchfork said he
- 11:01used to work here him He did up until a month ago. That's not
- 11:07a big one, big dumb goof. Here's a cop by the way,
- 11:13mister Marlow. Where are you heading? Oh, Mexico? Maybe Mexico.
- 11:18It kind of came a long ways out of your way, didn't you,
- 11:22Ali? Ali? We're in here? Ready, what's the matter? Car
- 11:28at the bottom of the hill. Who's is it? Cow? Belongs to
- 11:30me? It's stalled? Oh will this is mister Marlow, Ready, he
- 11:35said on his way to Mexico. You don't say. And since your's car
- 11:39broke down so late, he may say, all night. Uncle Walder said
- 11:43it'd be all right. Is that a fact? I'll go get some blankets
- 11:48Eddy, see you can take them up to the spare room. Okay,
- 11:52Dolly, mister Morrow, where are you from? Mister Marlow La. You
- 12:01points east. You know this road don't go to Mexico model. In fact,
- 12:05it stops about a mile up the drawer here. And it's funny that
- 12:09you wound up on it, isn't it? I don't see you breaking up
- 12:13over it? Eddie? Do let my poker face throw your pal? Traveling
- 12:16alone? I am? I am now meaning what that? There's nobody with
- 12:22me? That's simple, isn't it? Not? My book? Pal?
- 12:26I might even want you to draw me a picture of that one. Ed,
- 12:31Okay, okay, it's fine. Man upstairs, Mollow, I'll show
- 12:33you the room. You want me to go with you and make a bed?
- 12:37No, you stay here and put up some more coffee, Dolly a
- 12:39hunch, I may want lots of it tonight. Let's go Mallow right behind
- 12:43you. Eddy. How's the weather been in La? So? I might
- 12:52call it hot? Uh? Huh? Get the door? Will you sure?
- 13:05Okay? How come at you, pal? I got good credentials of
- 13:09carn at tight. Yep, you better be right on all three? How'd
- 13:11you find me? Little map? Eddie messed Indido to the dead tree of
- 13:16the covered bridge and then up here at the cinch. Why'd you show alone?
- 13:18Where's red gotta meet us at the border. It's a bump fit,
- 13:22Pal, it's not in a book. Why in some kind of a last
- 13:26minute jam with the boat? Oh the jerk. He's had a month to
- 13:30line this up while I've been holding up out here in the sticks making like
- 13:31a farm hand. Well, better work, that's all. If we picked
- 13:37up this time, it's curtains. Oh incidentally, you got a gun,
- 13:41haven't you. Yeah, sure, let's see it, Oh, dice,
- 13:45Eddie. I didn't tell me everything, just enough so you'll get your money's
- 13:50worth. I'll do what I'm supposed to do, and no questions asked for
- 13:52my little automatic and I stick together regardless, real close together. Okay,
- 13:58mom, shuit yourself. I will and something else. The rest of the
- 14:03company is going along. Is that all set? Well, we'll see about
- 14:07that when the time comes. You're not leaving any loose ends around, are
- 14:11you. It's not your worry, Pale. We'll get out of here around
- 14:15eleven. Oh and that routine about your cabby installed it is a gag,
- 14:20I hope. Yeah. Sure it won't start if anybody tries, But in
- 14:22ten seconds with a screwdriver, I can fix it. You're okay, Mallo,
- 14:26just keep playing your game. Yeah I will. Maybe then I'll find
- 14:31out what the score is. After all, you might at bet. Come
- 14:35on, let's see. Dinner at the Brutal Farm was as loaded with gay
- 14:43chadder as a bad case of lock jaw, and when it was over,
- 14:48the participants scattered like everybody else was contagious. I wound up a load in
- 14:52the dark spare room on the second floor, which had one advantage windows that
- 14:56viewed both the front and the rear. The moon was bright, so I
- 15:01didn't bother with the lamp. I listened to Dolly rattle dishes in the kitchen
- 15:05until that stopped, and then I watched the old man Bruel pace his front
- 15:09yard once said Fry went out and talked to him briefly, and then headed
- 15:13for the front door again. For a long hour after that, the big
- 15:18house was silent until from somewhere out in the back there was a soft,
- 15:22metallic tapping. Eventually I spotted a heavy figure outside tossing pebbles against the window
- 15:26pane downstairs, and he edged back from the shadows to the barn. A
- 15:33moment later I saw the girl step out a rear door and run across the
- 15:35backyard and join him. I went down the backstairs, not along the house,
- 15:39to a hedge, and I followed that until I was closing a thing.
- 15:41Oh, I tell you, he's an escaped convict, the killer.
- 15:46He's been hiding out here on your place. I can't believe it. No,
- 15:48I just can't. Are you sure? Of course? I am.
- 15:52I read it by accident just to night in an old newspaper from Denver,
- 15:56the whole story with pictures. There's no doubt about it. Ed Fry is
- 16:00really Eddie Fillmore. He's a murderer plenty of times over. What do we
- 16:07do We call the police? Oh no, not on your life. Listen.
- 16:11You want to get off this farm, don't you more than anything in
- 16:15the world. Okay, then we'll do it together, Dolly. I didn't
- 16:21tell another soul about this, you know why, because they put out a
- 16:25reward, a big one for him, twenty five hundred dollars. And we're
- 16:29going to get it, just us, you and me. I don't know.
- 16:33How can we talk about did you hear that? More? That's nothing,
- 16:37nothing, that's one of the cats. Maybe. Look you've been taking
- 16:42walks with him lately, Dolly, Yes, I have no Well, never
- 16:48mind that now, just get him to take another one right away. Get
- 16:53him to walk you down to Pritchet's house. I'll be waiting there. As
- 16:56soon as you get inside, I'll jump them. You'll never know what hit
- 17:00him. Will you do it? Well, I'll try. You give me
- 17:07some time to persuade a sure, sure, Oh you see things my way,
- 17:12honey, No boy would With that reward money, there'll be no stopping
- 17:18us. You better go in now before they miss you. Okay, I'll
- 17:22get him there. Hey, Bickman, what who's there? Mollow? Listen
- 17:30I gonna do. You're listening all the time. Why don't you and believe
- 17:33me? You're making a mistake. They're playing with dynamite, Bicman. You
- 17:36two, and that's a tackle like guy alonely is too tough for you.
- 17:38So you want to help, so you can cut yourself in on the reward.
- 17:41That's all. Well, it ain't gonna work. Don't be a sap.
- 17:44He's covered himself. There's somebody else in with him, somebody around here.
- 17:47He's got an ally. You to try to grab him, you're gonna
- 17:49be in trouble. You're lying. He's been hiding out all alone. And
- 17:53we're gonna get him, Dolly and me by ourselves. And if you try
- 17:57to horn in, mister Hell help me, I'll beat your brain. Cut
- 18:00it out. Reward, No reward. You gotta listen to me. No,
- 18:08Maybe that'll teach you not to stick your nose in city boy. In
- 18:26just a moment, the second actor Philip Marlowe, but first Fred Allen's first
- 18:30appearance on the CBS Jack Benny Show. Al Jolson sings, but the face
- 18:36is Charlie McCarthy's Andy of Amos, and Andy goes on trial for deserting his
- 18:41bride by mistake. Those are three headlines that guarantee you a world of fun
- 18:45on CBS Tomorrow Night. Yes, this third Sunday of the new year will
- 18:51be an all time high in radio entertainment. Hear them all on CBS Tomorrow
- 18:56Night Now with our Star. Gerald Moore turned to the second act of Philip
- 19:00Marlowe and Tonight's story the copboard Bridge. I didn't pass out my jaw hurting.
- 19:18My legs moved like they were rubber. Now I had to find the
- 19:22robing wall of Bruel because he should know where Richard's house was. Where the
- 19:26ambitious team of Dally and Noah might be fighting off a lot more than they
- 19:30could chew healthy four hed teeth. Notwithstanding, it's the Bruel, it's the
- 19:37brawl. Yeah, who is it? Marlow? Come on minute? What
- 19:41is important? Yeah? It's important? All right? Is it? Mister
- 19:45Marlover? What is your friend? Noah? We had a few words,
- 19:52nor a big one. You are no friend of mine. He is no
- 19:56friend of mine either. Look, Bruel, I I'm gonna have to trust
- 20:00you. I've got no choice. Bickman found out Ed Fry is really an
- 20:04undesirable name. Naddy Fillmore is wanted for the police by murder. He wants
- 20:07to trap him for a twenty five hundred dollars reward that's been posted, and
- 20:11didn't want me in the way. Now, look, I'm not a passing
- 20:15tourist with more trouble with a private detective. Tell me who is Pritchett and
- 20:18where does he live? Richard? Where does he live? Mister man?
- 20:22Or somebody has been making a joke on you. Ellie who Prichard died twenty
- 20:27years ago? Live right in this house where I do today? This is
- 20:33Pritchett's house here, Oh, Pricher's house. No, no, no,
- 20:37that it is down the road near your car. The covered bridge. There
- 20:41is Pritchett's house the bridge. Ah, you see Ellie who Prichard was from
- 20:47New England and he had a covered bridge on his farm there, so he
- 20:52wanted one here. He built it himself day by day aboard here and mayor
- 20:56there. Yeah, since he spent so much time out of people call the
- 20:59bridges that, yeah exactly. But then right it is important because of a
- 21:04meeting, mister Brule get together that. I don't think it's going to be
- 21:07on the quiet side. Let me borrow your flashlight, which I'll get back
- 21:12inside and call the police. What are you going to do? Reinforce the
- 21:17reward, happy sweethearts, and keep an eye out for someone I haven't met
- 21:19yet, a third party any fillmore plans for tour Mexico with it was a
- 21:33quarter of a mile romp country style back down to the covered bridge. When
- 21:37I was there, the miles arrive recovered from George in one hand, flashed
- 21:40like the other, I found only the moonwashed, gray covered bridge itself,
- 21:45trying to stand erect like an old soldier who was more pride than posture.
- 21:49But then as I stepped on the chalk road on to the shelded oil so
- 21:52planking, I found something else inside, and face down was Noah Bickman,
- 21:59lying nearby the red stained icy fingers of the pitchfork that had killed him.
- 22:03I started to move closer, but then footsteps in the road behind suggested that
- 22:08I do different, So I moved quickly back to the bridge entrance, flapping
- 22:11myself into a narrow shadow, and waited, Noah, Noah, is that
- 22:22you smallow? Dolly? What are you doing here? Why are you down
- 22:30at the bridge at this hour? Where's Noah? He's dead, Dolly,
- 22:37He's in there, but don't go inside. Look, I tried to stop,
- 22:41and believe me stopping stopping. Oh, father, baby, I know
- 22:45about fry being Fillmore, the reward, all of it. What well,
- 22:51First of all, I'm a private detective from LA was dragged into this by
- 22:53a next body of film woars. Second, I was in the barn when
- 22:57you were noa major plans and your left. I tried to talk Noah and
- 23:00accepting my help. Why, because I know what Fillmore's kind is like.
- 23:04I mix with him every day. I know how they work. Look,
- 23:10did you tell Philmore to meet you here, yes or no? No.
- 23:14No, I couldn't find him. I've been looking since I left the barn,
- 23:15every place. That's why he came down here just then. Yes,
- 23:19I wanted to tell Noah that our plan would have to be postponed. What
- 23:25difference does all this make? I don't know. Maybe a little, maybe
- 23:29a lot fillmore. I had known about this, this rendezvous. You two
- 23:33planned it be twenty to one that he got here ahead of schedule and took
- 23:36Kara Noah. But since he didn't, Yeah, since he didn't, I'm
- 23:38betting on a third party, someone we haven't met yet, a third party.
- 23:42Yeah, And I listen to me, and do just as I say.
- 23:45Turn around and walk straight back up to the house. And when you
- 23:48get there, get inside and stay put. Go on fast, all right,
- 23:52but be careful Marla. Whoever killed Noah, won't he take to kill
- 23:56you when she's it Back up the road, I turned on the bridge again,
- 24:03my flashlight, following the dusty white footprints and the freshly oil planking leading
- 24:06to the dead man. I stood over in the circle of lights sweeping the
- 24:10area around him. It was just one thing I had to know, Fillow,
- 24:19it's me, what are you doing down here? I thought you might
- 24:25need help. So after I called the police, I got my rifle and
- 24:27came down here, and hey, he's dead. The proms and that falk
- 24:36were right through him. Oh yeah, look, Brule, was this planking
- 24:42freshly oil today? I just wanted to make sure those chalk footprints were made
- 24:48today. But Bruel, you stay here and see that no one is the
- 24:52bridge. Where are you going after your house? In a hurry, because
- 24:55I think I know who the killer and the third party is city red legs
- 25:04and smart fed lungs. I made it up to the house and record time.
- 25:07As I reached for the front door, I knew that time hadn't been
- 25:11quite good enough. The shot had come from somewhere in the house, and
- 25:14by the time I reached the living room, I knew I was too late
- 25:15to do any good. In a chair at the far side of the room,
- 25:21Dolly was slouched down, a surprised expression on her face, while our
- 25:25hands tried to hold back a small stain of blood oozing through her blouse.
- 25:29Little frightened words whispered out of my mouth. He shouldn't stand where you are,
- 25:36mollow. She had had come into her a two time and louted you.
- 25:45I understand, honey, you're no good little I was in the barn
- 25:49heard the whole thing. You and the pickman planning a switch with me out
- 25:56you wrong edny. Dolly didn't try to double crush you, Addy, Jelly
- 26:07pretended to so she could set No Bickman up and kill him. That's what
- 26:11she did. You're a liar, true. I don't believe it, Dolly,
- 26:40Is that true? Momo. She didn't cross me. She was trying
- 26:44to help me, that's right. Film Bickman found out who you were,
- 26:48one of the twenty five hundred bucks. You were worth it or alive.
- 26:52Dolly had to play him along for you. I say, I should have
- 26:55listened to her. I should have listened. How do you know all this
- 27:00model found Dolly's footprints inside the covered bridge approach. She'd been there before I
- 27:07found Vickman's body. Yeah, you know who I was. So you put
- 27:11it all together. Well, you're holding the gun, kid. With the
- 27:18next move. It doesn't matter much anymore. I could still lamb out of
- 27:22here for Mexico somehow. I don't want to. Not without Dolly film the
- 27:30police model. I'm not going anywhere. It was several hours before the county
- 27:45policem need he filled more gun. Pila Brune and I sat at the long
- 27:49wooden table, watching the light and the fire dance across the hanging skillets and
- 27:52pans by the grate, and nobody said anything for a long time. I
- 28:06I suppose hot epold pie at four in the morning seems odd to a man
- 28:11from the city at all, or in the morning sometimes middle of the day
- 28:18in the city. Yeah, yeah, more copy, Mistermorrow, Yeah,
- 28:25yeah, please kay. You know, Dolly wasn't really a bad girl.
- 28:36It was just that sometimes she didn't think. A woman who loves like that
- 28:42doesn't think, mister Brule, just feel maybe in some way it is my
- 28:51fault. The whole thing. Now, nobody's fault, mister Brule. She
- 28:56was. She's trying to do the right thing for the guys she loves.
- 29:03Yeah, well, if your bed is still ready, if you can't at
- 29:07the stake, oh thanks, sure, I'd like to. If you can
- 29:12find your own way up, I think I'll sit here just a minute longer.
- 29:19Sure night, Good night, mister Marlow. As I sat looking out
- 29:49over the starlit countryside, I thought of all the great love stories written about
- 29:57the good people, love Love summer, and then the pathetic face of Dolly,
- 30:07in the pain racked face of Eddie, said what about us that had
- 30:14no answer? Yeah, shuck up another one, marlow Another one of those
- 30:22things which there is no answer. The Adventures of Philip Marlowe Bringing You Raymond

- 31:04MacDonald and are written for radio by Robert Mitchell and Gene Levitt. Featured in
- 31:08the cast were viv Janas, Ben Wright, Jack Moyles Wilms, Herbert Jack
- 31:12Kruschan, and Barney Phillips. The special music is composed and conducted by Richard
- 31:18arant He Shure and be with us again next week when Philip Marlowe says,
- 31:26this time of twisted mind, a whole cut and no wire fence and a
- 31:30corpse in a stall room all added up to freedom, but only for the

- 32:30Graham, author of the web surface series Oh and a Man of His
- 32:34Wife. You're listening to the great detectives of old time radio. I like
- 32:45it when a story travels to different locations, as long as it's not overdone.
- 32:52It kind of makes an episode feel a bit uh baker and scope.
- 32:57As we start with somebody coming in to Marlow's office, then we have that
- 33:01great road side scene, and then the heart of the action in this really
- 33:07out of the way place. Now, there is an interesting recurring theme here
- 33:14when you think back to last week's episode with two Weeks, where the plot
- 33:19features bad boy characters who are genuinely in love and in this case ends with
- 33:25a somewhat sad and melancholy conclusion to the story. I'm not too sure how
- 33:34well this works within Philip Marlow, and I hope that they go some other
- 33:37direction in future weeks. All right, well, now we're going to talk
