- 0:00Speaker 1: Do you have a list? I have it here, you
- 0:04Speaker 1: have it, I have it. I retrieved it.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Retrieve that list. We'll present it right. It's Radio from
- 0:11Speaker 2: Hell with another list because people love a good list
- 0:15Speaker 2: at ninety six.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I'm just going to give Carry the opportunity to present
- 0:19Speaker 1: it because he brought it up. But I do have
- 0:21Speaker 1: it here.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I did see it there, and I thought it was
- 0:23Speaker 2: a good list.
- 0:24Speaker 1: This is things that terrified us as kids that turned
- 0:27Speaker 1: out to not really be such a big deal. These
- 0:32Speaker 1: are things that maybe we saw on TV shows that
- 0:35Speaker 1: we were very, very afraid of. Number one, quicksand yes, yeah,
- 0:41Speaker 1: despite being realistically unimaginable for adults today, one of the
- 0:45Speaker 1: things that terrified us as kids turned out to be
- 0:47Speaker 1: no big deal. Whether it was a children's book or
- 0:51Speaker 1: I think it was a Gilligan's is I remember could be.
- 0:57Speaker 1: There's less than a handful of people that have actually
- 1:00Speaker 1: found themselves in an unsafe situation with quicksand and you know,
- 1:03Speaker 1: you got to get the vine from the tree to
- 1:07Speaker 1: pull you out of the quicksand.
- 1:09Speaker 3: I was in an unsafe situation with mud out at
- 1:13Speaker 3: lake and the windows at a boy Scout camp.
- 1:15Speaker 1: How'd you get out of it.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I had to be I had to be pulled out
- 1:18Speaker 3: by other boy scouts.
- 1:19Speaker 1: They didn't send a jungle vine to you. That's how
- 1:22Speaker 1: you get it.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That's how you get out.
- 1:23Speaker 3: There are no jungle vines there.
- 1:26Speaker 2: It was. It was Dale Slade with a two by four.
- 1:29Speaker 1: All people the Bermuda Triangle.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, well.
- 1:35Speaker 1: It's there and there are you know, boats have gone
- 1:40Speaker 1: down there, but it's not. It's not like a supernatural
- 1:44Speaker 1: thing or anything. Uh. Now, this one I don't get
- 1:48Speaker 1: and I dis so. Number three is remembering to stop
- 1:52Speaker 1: drop and roll. Many kids in the seventies and eighties
- 1:55Speaker 1: were taught about fire safety through stop drop and roll
- 1:58Speaker 1: or the National Fire Protection Association. Reports suggested there are
- 2:01Speaker 1: actually other risks outside of risks, like your clothes being
- 2:05Speaker 1: on fire, that adults should be more concerned about it.
- 2:08Speaker 3: But if you're clothing on fire, they make a big
- 2:10Speaker 3: deal out of it. And you know how likely it
- 2:13Speaker 3: is that you catch on fire. Not although again, Scott
- 2:19Speaker 3: Geary and I were trying to start his dad's trial,
- 2:21Speaker 3: but you're, you know, boring gasoline into the carburetor. Scott
- 2:25Speaker 3: was while I was trying to gun it and and
- 2:28Speaker 3: he caught on fire.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Did he stop dropper?
- 2:30Speaker 2: He did.
- 2:33Speaker 3: He ran across the lawn and then finally realized that
- 2:36Speaker 3: his shirt was on fire.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And I don't feel like those going to every one
- 2:40Speaker 1: of these he's going to say, you know, actually that
- 2:42Speaker 1: did happen to me.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I had to take him to the hospital.
- 2:45Speaker 4: And the two points out our clothes were a lot
- 2:47Speaker 4: more flammable than that's true. That's where he was wearing
- 2:50Speaker 4: one of those nylon shirts that's so flammable these days.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Number four is sitting too close to the TV. Remember
- 2:56Speaker 1: you're you're going to go blind, Not really so much.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Number five unsafe Halloween candy. You know there's razor blades
- 3:05Speaker 1: and drugs and doesn't happen. Number six swallowing gum.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that was That was a big one. There are
- 3:14Speaker 2: adults I know who still believed that.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Now.
- 3:16Speaker 2: They always said get caught.
- 3:17Speaker 3: My family staided to get caught in your appendix and
- 3:21Speaker 3: then give you appendicide.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Or that it takes seven years to digest.
- 3:25Speaker 2: No, no, none of that.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Is turning the light on in the car, Now.
- 3:32Speaker 2: That's not a good idea. So like the.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Interior light, the dome light at night. And I've always
- 3:39Speaker 1: thought it was harder to see it is the road.
- 3:42Speaker 1: If the light inside the car is.
- 3:44Speaker 2: All it is, that's why you shouldn't do it.
- 3:46Speaker 1: This says Experts from Thompson Law argue that rumors and
- 3:49Speaker 1: myths around the legality of interior car lights while driving
- 3:52Speaker 1: were likely sparked by an early misunderstanding about traffic laws,
- 3:56Speaker 1: many which became misguided generational belief in families. But so,
- 4:01Speaker 1: maybe that's not against the law, but it's probably not
- 4:04Speaker 1: a good I.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Turned down the instrument panel lights when I'm driving at
- 4:10Speaker 3: nights because I so I can see.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Better Piranhas and barracudas.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they'll strip you.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Second second, Yeah, you know you drop a cow in
- 4:21Speaker 2: that river?
- 4:23Speaker 1: You remember that ye showering during a thunderstorm.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's possible struck.
- 4:30Speaker 1: By lightning, both by walking outside or standing in the shower.
- 4:33Speaker 1: The odds of it truly happening or not, my.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Mom was all about now mine was when we had landlines.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Nothing butt land lines. You shouldn't talk on the phone
- 4:43Speaker 3: during a thunderstorm.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that was another one. And I wonder if.
- 4:49Speaker 1: It hits your house, I mean, could make its way
- 4:53Speaker 1: through that, I guess. Swallowing fruit seeds. You know you'll
- 4:56Speaker 1: grow a watermelon in your.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 1: The last one is cracking your knuckles too often. It'll
- 5:04Speaker 1: give you arthritis.
- 5:05Speaker 2: It will not give you the earth right and give
- 5:08Speaker 2: you a big deformed knuckle.
- 5:09Speaker 1: It's a harmless habit. Parents. Parents, It seems like parents
- 5:14Speaker 1: used to say that because they didn't like that their
- 5:16Speaker 1: kids were doing it. So you know you'll get arthritis.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Ed Brass weighing in about the Piranhas, Oh yeah, I
- 5:24Speaker 4: saw that in the Tarzan movie with Johnny wise Muller.
- 5:26Speaker 2: It's real, it's real.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they had quicksand in that too, and the dreaded Cando.
- 5:35Speaker 2: That's real. Swim up, a man's your earth round? Yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 2: all right we will.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So there you go.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That's a fine little list, I think. All right, We've
- 5:45Speaker 2: hope you'd enjoyed.
