  - We are in the

  - final week, week four
• 0:35
  - of the podcast

  - series,

  - and we're talking about walking confidently in God's
• 0:41
  - direction
• 0:42
  - even when you can't see the whole path.
• 0:46
  - Now
• 0:48
  - many of
• 0:50
  - us delay obedience because we want
• 0:53
  - certainty before taking the next step.
• 0:56
  - And I get it. Sometimes
• 0:59
  - we just don't know which way to go.
• 1:02
  - And so not only do we not have
• 1:04
  - the direction, but we have fear, so we're
• 1:07
  - really not gonna move.
• 1:09
  - And it causes us to want the entire
• 1:12
  - road map before we move.
• 1:15
  - But
• 1:16
  - the word tells us that faith
• 1:19
  - is the substance of things hoped for and
• 1:21
  - the evidence
• 1:22
  - of things not seen.
• 1:23
  - And he also says that without faith, it's
• 1:26
  - impossible to please him,
• 1:28
  - which makes being paralyzed by fear
• 1:31
  - not quite as daunting,
• 1:34
  - but nonetheless
• 1:36
  - a challenge.
• 1:38
  - The good thing is that God often reveals
• 1:41
  - the next step before he reveals the entire
• 1:43
  - journey.
• 1:45
  - Now
• 1:47
  - the
• 1:48
  - character that comes to mind regarding this is
• 1:51
  - Joseph.
• 1:52
  - And and,
• 1:54
  - the story of,
• 1:56
  - Joseph having the dream
• 1:58
  - that
• 2:00
  - his family was going to bow before him.
• 2:02
  - And it came in two different dreams, one
• 2:05
  - where the stars were bowing
• 2:07
  - and the other one where the the wheat
• 2:08
  - was, bowing.
• 2:10
  - And in in both situations,
• 2:12
  - his family looked at him like he was
• 2:14
  - crazy, and they were like, yeah. Good luck
• 2:17
  - with that, buddy. We're not doing that.
• 2:19
  - But
• 2:21
  - what's fascinating
• 2:23
  - about that is
• 2:24
  - that
• 2:25
  - that was, in Joseph's case, the glimpse. And
• 2:29
  - if you will, it was the cliffhanger
• 2:32
  - that that peaked his interest.
• 2:34
  - And I often say that god knows how
• 2:37
  - to write a really, really great story.
• 2:40
  - He'll bait us with just enough to pique
• 2:43
  - our interest because he knows what it's gonna
• 2:47
  - take for us to move and get started
• 2:49
  - on the journey, but he doesn't tell us
• 2:51
  - how much we're necessarily going to have to
• 2:54
  - pay
• 2:55
  - when we start the journey to get to
• 2:57
  - the end of the cliffhanger.
• 3:00
  - Because if we did, we wouldn't do it.
• 3:02
  - Right? So that's why he tells us that
• 3:04
  - we have to use faith.
• 3:07
  - Now discernment requires trust and obedience.
• 3:11
  - And we already know that without faith, it's
• 3:13
  - impossible to please him.
• 3:16
  - And that's what makes discernment
• 3:18
  - so important.
• 3:21
  - Psalms one nineteen and one zero five tells
• 3:24
  - us that God's word is a lamp,
• 3:27
  - unto our feet, and it lights our pathway.
• 3:30
  - And I think sometimes when we're dealing with
• 3:31
  - fear and uncertainty,
• 3:34
  - not only does God tell us to have
• 3:36
  - courage and to, to continue to to do
• 3:39
  - it
• 3:40
  - regardless,
• 3:40
  - but that we don't have to do this
• 3:42
  - thing alone.
• 3:44
  - God's word
• 3:45
  - is is is the road map. And I
• 3:47
  - tell people, there's not one thing that we
• 3:50
  - go through. It doesn't matter what the category
• 3:52
  - is, relationships,
• 3:53
  - finance,
• 3:55
  - school,
• 3:56
  - whatever.
• 3:57
  - He has something to say about every area
• 3:59
  - of our life,
• 4:00
  - and that's where the hope is. And that's
• 4:02
  - where
• 4:03
  - the the word comes and brings us light
• 4:06
  - in the midst of the uncertainty.
• 4:11
  - But it's important to remember that a lamp
• 4:14
  - doesn't illuminate miles ahead.
• 4:16
  - It just provides enough light for the next
• 4:19
  - step.
• 4:20
  - Remember, we talked about Joseph
• 4:23
  - and he gave,
• 4:25
  - Joseph God gave Joseph just enough information, just
• 4:28
  - enough for the cliffhanger
• 4:30
  - to to to to wet his appetite, but
• 4:32
  - he didn't tell him what it was gonna
• 4:34
  - cost.
• 4:36
  - He gave him just enough to get Joseph
• 4:39
  - to the next step,
• 4:41
  - and that's often how God leads.
• 4:43
  - We want complete clarity,
• 4:45
  - but God frequently gives daily guidance.
• 4:49
  - He teaches us to trust him one step
• 4:51
  - at a time.
• 4:54
  - And because of it, discernment isn't simply recognizing
• 4:58
  - God's voice, but it's about having the courage
• 5:00
  - to obey once we've heard him.
• 5:03
  - Sometimes we hear him and we're like, okay,
• 5:05
  - God, was that really you?
• 5:07
  - And this happens to me all the time.
• 5:10
  - Even though I've been with the Lord as
• 5:12
  - a intercessor
• 5:13
  - for for many years,
• 5:15
  - He'll tell me to do something and I'll
• 5:17
  - be like, okay. I'm I'm gonna hold for
• 5:19
  - just a moment.
• 5:20
  - And then he'll say it again, and I'm
• 5:22
  - like, okay. I'm I'm gonna hold for just
• 5:24
  - a moment.
• 5:25
  - And then he'll say it one more time
• 5:27
  - because he understands that in my case, I
• 5:30
  - don't wanna dishonor him and I definitely don't
• 5:32
  - wanna go ahead of him. And I don't
• 5:34
  - necessarily wanna go in and of myself.
• 5:36
  - And so he has to remind me and
• 5:39
  - affirm me and say, hey. It's really okay.
• 5:44
  - Follow me. I know where it is that
• 5:46
  - I I I want to lead you, but
• 5:48
  - I need you to move when I call
• 5:50
  - to you.
• 5:53
  - And because of that, spiritual maturity
• 5:55
  - grows when we move forward in faith, even
• 5:58
  - when we cannot see the entire picture.
• 6:01
  - And,
• 6:02
  - what I love about that is that the
• 6:03
  - goal of discernment is not
• 6:05
  - certainty.
• 6:06
  - The goal is trust.
• 6:08
  - And just a little side note,
• 6:10
  - you're always gonna be faced with fear.
• 6:13
  - Always.
• 6:16
  - The key is to work through the fear.
• 6:20
  - And that's where trusting God becomes such a
• 6:23
  - powerful key.
• 6:26
  - That being said,
• 6:27
  - let's pray.
• 6:30
  - Father God, give us the courage to obey
• 6:32
  - you when you speak.
• 6:35
  - Help us trust your direction
• 6:37
  - even when we cannot see the entire path.
• 6:41
  - Strengthen our faith and teach us
• 6:43
  - to walk confidently
• 6:45
  - in you, and we will bless you in
• 6:47
  - Jesus' name.
