After years of being told that national pride is a problem, why are ordinary Britons now expected to fight for the nation? In this episode, I examine the contradiction between hostility to nationalism and demands for national sacrifice. From globalisation and mass migration to military decline, anti-male rhetoric and the erosion of trust, I argue that Britain's vulnerability runs far deeper than defence spending.
