- 0:00Speaker 1: And now Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up, everybody?
- 0:08Speaker 3: Welcome to Move the Sticks DJ, Bucky Baldy with you
- 0:11Speaker 3: on a little recap Monday. First of all, Baldi, before
- 0:13Speaker 3: I get to you, Buck, where are you right now?
- 0:15Speaker 3: I don't recognize this shot?
- 0:16Speaker 4: I am.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I am an allowance at hotel and Indy before I
- 0:20Speaker 1: get on the flight, DA head back.
- 0:22Speaker 5: It's uh inclement weather here.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Ah, I agreet you. Travel will get you this time
- 0:28Speaker 3: of the year. Baldi, where were you yesterday?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Well?
- 0:31Speaker 4: Game, I was in Carolina watching Seattle just thump the
- 0:35Speaker 4: Panthers looking like a good team. It was not not
- 0:40Speaker 4: fun watching Bryce Young struggle on offense the way he did.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Man, it was awful.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's just it's just tough to think
- 0:46Speaker 4: that that can be the future if you're really trying
- 0:48Speaker 4: to build that program. They have a lot of good pieces,
- 0:50Speaker 4: but that's that was not a good performance.
- 0:53Speaker 3: No, And I think we're you know, we'll get to
- 0:55Speaker 3: the end of this thing. We go through some of
- 0:56Speaker 3: these games. We'll do a little quick peak ause what
- 0:58Speaker 3: we have you here on this episode, bald of some
- 1:01Speaker 3: of these massive games that are coming up, you know,
- 1:03Speaker 3: winner take all Division, number one seed on the line.
- 1:05Speaker 3: A lot of big games coming up, final week of
- 1:07Speaker 3: the season. But let's let's start first of all with
- 1:09Speaker 3: the with the Sunday nighter, Baldy, I'll let you jump
- 1:12Speaker 3: on this. When Chicago San Francisco was an awesome game, big
- 1:15Speaker 3: time shootout.
- 1:16Speaker 4: It was a shootout, and we saw performances, you know,
- 1:19Speaker 4: from Luther Burdon, who was dynamic throughout the game. And
- 1:24Speaker 4: one of the reasons why you know that him in Loveland,
- 1:26Speaker 4: that the two of them have really come on and
- 1:29Speaker 4: really developed in the past. The game, they had seven plays,
- 1:32Speaker 4: seven plays of twenty yards and more, two of them
- 1:34Speaker 4: for touchdowns.
- 1:35Speaker 2: On the other side, I mean, no George Kittle, but
- 1:38Speaker 2: he got Jake.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Tongus, like you know, I'm sure you got all times,
- 1:42Speaker 4: you know, I mean, what's the difference, you know, and
- 1:44Speaker 4: Ricky Piersoll really made a difference. But you know, right now,
- 1:47Speaker 4: Brock Perdy, I mean, I don't know, like you're looking
- 1:50Speaker 4: at Trevor Lawrence, Bucky you know, Jacksonville, I don't know
- 1:52Speaker 4: if there's a hotter quarterback. He's accounted for ten touchdown
- 1:55Speaker 4: passes in the last six days, Like he doesn't make mistakes.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I mean, I know the ball got tipped and intercepted
- 2:01Speaker 4: or he just shrugged that off and then they just
- 2:03Speaker 4: went on on a tear. They're doing things though, Like
- 2:07Speaker 4: I don't know DJ, if Christian McCaffery is real or
- 2:11Speaker 4: if he's AI because he's over four hundred touches right now, yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 4: and he's only getting stronger. You know, he's got two
- 2:18Speaker 4: thousand yards, he's going to get a hundred catches. Like
- 2:21Speaker 4: he looks indestructible, and we don't see that from running
- 2:24Speaker 4: backs this far into the career. Maybe La Danian Tomlinson
- 2:28Speaker 4: in his prime was doing this kind of stuff, but
- 2:30Speaker 4: we just haven't seen running backs that just get stronger
- 2:34Speaker 4: as the season's going on, and he's the offense goes
- 2:36Speaker 4: through him and they just keep feeding him.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I think the one thing about Christian McCaffrey, and one
- 2:41Speaker 1: of the reasons like DJ, I think we had this
- 2:43Speaker 1: conversation on the pot when he got his contract, his
- 2:46Speaker 1: ability to catch the ball out the backfield gave him
- 2:48Speaker 1: a chance to be able to age gracefully because you
- 2:51Speaker 1: could get him his production not only as a run
- 2:54Speaker 1: but as a receiver.
- 2:56Speaker 5: You can lighten the load when it comes to amount
- 2:58Speaker 5: of hiss that he.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Takes because he's taking perim shots from little guys as
- 3:01Speaker 1: opposed to dealing with the big guys.
- 3:03Speaker 2: But this offense.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Like to sit here and think that the stimpsonsco forty
- 3:07Speaker 1: nine ers or went away from being the number one
- 3:09Speaker 1: seed when two of their blue chip players are out
- 3:13Speaker 1: Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, George Kittle. Another blue chip player
- 3:17Speaker 1: is out Brandon Aiyuk when a Wald never came back.
- 3:21Speaker 1: He was someone they were counting counting on to be
- 3:23Speaker 1: a high level receiver.
- 3:25Speaker 4: To me, this is the best coaching went out on
- 3:27Speaker 4: the first play, went out on first place, went out
- 3:30Speaker 4: on the first play.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I don't know Austin pleasants, but he stepped in there
- 3:33Speaker 2: and playing.
- 3:34Speaker 1: So to think about what they're doing, this is the
- 3:37Speaker 1: best coaching job that Kyle Shanahan has done.
- 3:40Speaker 5: And I read this. This actually came from Omar.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Omar put the tweet out there about how Kyle changed
- 3:45Speaker 1: their approach this year.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Had all the veterans come over doing.
- 3:47Speaker 1: OTA's and say, hey, let's quit focusing on the super
- 3:50Speaker 1: Bowl and let's just be the best version that we
- 3:52Speaker 1: can be with this team and just see how good
- 3:54Speaker 1: that can be. And maybe that subtle shift in mindset
- 3:58Speaker 1: where it's more processed than a getting better every week,
- 4:02Speaker 1: maybe that has worked with this team, because this team,
- 4:05Speaker 1: it looks like a super Bowl team. And I feel
- 4:07Speaker 1: crazy for saying that despite all the people that are
- 4:10Speaker 1: out of their starting line.
- 4:12Speaker 3: No, and I think there's I want to get a
- 4:14Speaker 3: lot of stuff on this game. We can cook on
- 4:15Speaker 3: it for a little bit. But one of the other
- 4:16Speaker 3: thoughts I had on this game was watching both these
- 4:18Speaker 3: teams playing a ton of young players, as you know,
- 4:21Speaker 3: the Niners on the defensive side, the Bears particularly on
- 4:23Speaker 3: the offensive side. And you look at some of these
- 4:26Speaker 3: teams that are playing with all these young guys and
- 4:28Speaker 3: then not only are you you know, you're surviving, they're
- 4:31Speaker 3: in the in the mix. There's the best teams in
- 4:33Speaker 3: the NFL, and these young players are getting better each
- 4:35Speaker 3: and every week, like the whole forget the whole rookie
- 4:37Speaker 3: wall thing, Like these guys are, you know, getting stronger
- 4:40Speaker 3: as the year goes along. And I think some of
- 4:42Speaker 3: that is that college football season has gotten longer, Baldy.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I don't think people talk about that quite as much.
- 4:46Speaker 3: You know, with with especially with playoffs and things like that.
- 4:49Speaker 3: But it's it's become a longer season. It's not that
- 4:51Speaker 3: different from from where we are in the NFL at
- 4:54Speaker 3: this point in time. But I think it speaks to the
- 4:55Speaker 3: importance of having good teachers. You know, coaches is the
- 4:58Speaker 3: coaches the word we use, but teacher, to me is
- 5:00Speaker 3: the more appropriate term for these guys.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Well, I mean, you know, just Chicago Ozzie Trapilo over
- 5:05Speaker 4: at left tackle right now, and Luther Burden didn't do
- 5:07Speaker 4: much in the first half of the season either. The
- 5:09Speaker 4: Colston Loveland we kind of questioned whether Ty Warren was
- 5:12Speaker 4: the better pick. And now you're watch in Loveland do
- 5:14Speaker 4: just about everything, you know, and these guys are getting
- 5:17Speaker 4: down the field for big plays. So those are just
- 5:21Speaker 4: three young guys and Kyle Manungai of course, you know,
- 5:24Speaker 4: and what they're able to do. But you know, we'll
- 5:26Speaker 4: just go back to the coaching aspect of it. Man,
- 5:29Speaker 4: It's not just coaching, Bucky, It's it's it's specific game day,
- 5:34Speaker 4: you know, coaching, like just watching DeAndre Swift score from
- 5:38Speaker 4: the two yard line. You know, where San Francisco's got
- 5:42Speaker 4: a reduced front, they've got five defensive linement on there.
- 5:44Speaker 2: They're not running inside, they're pulling Jonah Jackson.
- 5:47Speaker 4: They got a tight end all the way outside of
- 5:49Speaker 4: Darnell right to cut the outside defensive end, you know,
- 5:52Speaker 4: and Swifty, you know, runs into the end zone for
- 5:54Speaker 4: two yard. And then you're watching similar things and what
- 5:57Speaker 4: Kyle's doing in the run game right now with both
- 6:00Speaker 4: Robinson and with Christian McCaffrey, just the subtle little tweaks
- 6:04Speaker 4: of Okay, this is the anticipated front.
- 6:07Speaker 2: This is what we get.
- 6:08Speaker 4: We're gonna run juice in this motion and we're gonna
- 6:10Speaker 4: come back with tongus here and the linebackers are just
- 6:13Speaker 4: taking himself out of the play, and unless you're Luke Keikley,
- 6:16Speaker 4: you might not ever figure out where the hell the
- 6:18Speaker 4: ball is going right now.
- 6:20Speaker 1: No, I mean it's all of that. I want to
- 6:22Speaker 1: talk on your point, DJ. I think playing the young players,
- 6:27Speaker 1: and eventually we'll talk about the Jaguars, but I would
- 6:29Speaker 1: say my observation and playing the young players, James Gladstone
- 6:32Speaker 1: said this, and I think other general managers are doing it.
- 6:35Speaker 5: You have to clear a pathway from them to get
- 6:37Speaker 5: on the field, meaning you.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Can't bring veterans in as the backups, like coaches want
- 6:42Speaker 1: the veteran.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Players and blankets.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yes, you have to make it where this young player
- 6:47Speaker 1: is the next one up and there's no other recourse
- 6:51Speaker 1: but that you have to play him.
- 6:53Speaker 5: And then the coaches are adapting.
- 6:55Speaker 1: So the San Francisco forty nine is and I think
- 6:57Speaker 1: Robert Solid needs to get a lot of credit for
- 6:59Speaker 1: this defense league. They're not doing what they've done in
- 7:01Speaker 1: the past. They're more bin but don't break than they've
- 7:04Speaker 1: ever been this year. Solve Zoel's keeping in front, run, rally, tackle,
- 7:10Speaker 1: because with young players you have to simplify so you
- 7:13Speaker 1: can give them a chance to be successful. And the
- 7:16Speaker 1: teams that I'm seeing that are playing a bunch of
- 7:18Speaker 1: young players, they're not doing complex things. They're letting them
- 7:22Speaker 1: sit in these basic schemes and they're saying they're gonna
- 7:25Speaker 1: get better and better each week with more reps and experience.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I think that's true. Bucket, that's a great point. And look,
- 7:31Speaker 3: the lead of this game has brought Perty's playing out
- 7:33Speaker 3: of his mind with anticipation, accuracy, the athleticism which has
- 7:36Speaker 3: been incredible with him getting outside the pocket, using his legs,
- 7:40Speaker 3: using his arms. You know, that's that's kind of an
- 7:42Speaker 3: X factor, which has been fun to watch. He's just
- 7:44Speaker 3: he's locked in. Ricky Piersalz turned into a really good player,
- 7:47Speaker 3: really good option for them in the pass game. But
- 7:50Speaker 3: I wanted to leave you with this thought because I
- 7:53Speaker 3: was watching the game on TV last night and collins Worth,
- 7:55Speaker 3: who's great, but he kept kind of highlighting, you know,
- 7:58Speaker 3: Caleb missing some of these layup throws and how it's
- 8:02Speaker 3: bizarre that you can make some of these incredible throws
- 8:04Speaker 3: but misses some of these layup throws, and it just
- 8:07Speaker 3: kind of triggered a memory of mine where I was thinking, Gosh,
- 8:09Speaker 3: I remember they say the same thing about Josh Allen
- 8:12Speaker 3: those first couple of years in the league. So I'm like,
- 8:14Speaker 3: you don't let me pull those numbers. So I posted
- 8:16Speaker 3: them bullying Buck Josh Allen year two fifty eight point
- 8:19Speaker 3: eight percent, Caleb Williams year two fifty seven point nine
- 8:23Speaker 3: total touchdowns for Josh Allen, twenty nine for Caleb, twenty
- 8:26Speaker 3: eight interceptions for Josh nine Caleb six total yards thirty
- 8:31Speaker 3: five ninety nine for Josh, forty one seventeen for Caleb. Like,
- 8:35Speaker 3: their numbers are really really similar and Josh was making
- 8:38Speaker 3: those big splash plays, but then you have some easy
- 8:41Speaker 3: misses and he just kind of slowly worked those out
- 8:44Speaker 3: of his game now. And I said, in the bottom
- 8:46Speaker 3: of it, look, Caleb's supporting cast way better than what
- 8:48Speaker 3: Josh Allen had at that time in Buffalo, all the
- 8:50Speaker 3: way across board, offensive line, skill players, all that. I
- 8:53Speaker 3: get all that, but I'm just saying you could see it.
- 8:56Speaker 3: This is like Bucket feels like you just like you've
- 8:58Speaker 3: planted this little seed in the garden and you're starting
- 9:01Speaker 3: to see it kind of grow and you're like, one
- 9:02Speaker 3: day this is going to be a big, old, big
- 9:04Speaker 3: old tree man the way that the way the Caleb
- 9:06Speaker 3: Williams is going.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's funny because I heard the commentary
- 9:12Speaker 1: and even in looking at Josh Allen because he missed
- 9:14Speaker 1: the two point throw that was open, like, you're gonna
- 9:16Speaker 1: have some of those like that that happens. They're no poor,
- 9:19Speaker 1: perfect quarterback when it comes to they never miss or whatever.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I think we have to exhibit enough patience with the
- 9:25Speaker 1: young quarterbacks that we don't nitpicking the death before they
- 9:29Speaker 1: can have their full developmental process. Okay, yeah, he misses
- 9:33Speaker 1: some of these throws. But man, can we talk about
- 9:35Speaker 1: the things that he's trinky from his rookie season to
- 9:38Speaker 1: now and how well he's playing in Ben Johnson's offense
- 9:42Speaker 1: and how there's been.
- 9:43Speaker 5: A slow.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Increase, a slow ascent to where he's at right now. Look, man,
- 9:49Speaker 1: he's a second year player who has his team in
- 9:52Speaker 1: the playoffs and they were playing for an opportunity to
- 9:54Speaker 1: be the number one seed. Let's give him credit. And
- 9:56Speaker 1: I think for these young guys that are doing it
- 9:58Speaker 1: and doing it at a high level, meet them where
- 10:01Speaker 1: they're at. Talk about where we want them to go,
- 10:04Speaker 1: But may can we appreciate where they are and how
- 10:06Speaker 1: far they've come from their rickey season And he's.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Been clutch, baldy like whatever people want to talk about.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I mean, the numbers look good to me. I mean,
- 10:13Speaker 3: obviously the completion percentage people are going to harp on that,
- 10:15Speaker 3: but the explosives, the ability to win games is a dime.
- 10:20Speaker 4: The touchdown Holly Loveland.
- 10:23Speaker 3: As much as we love Burden and Loveland, they both
- 10:26Speaker 3: had easy drops on that on that last.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Time, they might win the game if Burdon doesn't.
- 10:32Speaker 4: I mean, he was eight for eight, caught everything and
- 10:34Speaker 4: then the one on just going out of bounds right there.
- 10:37Speaker 4: I mean, it's a first down, and you know that
- 10:40Speaker 4: one goes through his hands. But maybe that just gives
- 10:43Speaker 4: you want to crack at it.
- 10:44Speaker 2: You know.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Maybe that with the times, you know, and the yard
- 10:46Speaker 3: is gained on those two, maybe they get more cracks
- 10:48Speaker 3: at Ben Johnson. Look, I know some people are criticizing
- 10:50Speaker 3: him for the hooking ladder. I just I think that's
- 10:53Speaker 3: the way he goes, man, That's the way he rolls.
- 10:55Speaker 4: It's it's the shot, a shot in the four yard line,
- 10:57Speaker 4: you know what it was too and four yard line
- 10:59Speaker 4: they got down there.
- 11:00Speaker 2: They you know, they spiked it.
- 11:01Speaker 4: They got the first down, and so you know that
- 11:04Speaker 4: guy's always going to have something up his sleeve, you know,
- 11:07Speaker 4: and in any situation, they always look like they've been
- 11:10Speaker 4: practicing all of those kinds of things that they do.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 3: No, it's a good good test for them, a good
- 11:15Speaker 3: road test, I thought, Chicago. You know, it is right
- 11:18Speaker 3: in the game against you know, one of the elite teams.
- 11:19Speaker 3: They're going to be a tough team to get out
- 11:21Speaker 3: of the playoffs.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Once we get one little stat I know that.
- 11:25Speaker 4: It was well announced that the Bears had never had
- 11:27Speaker 4: a four thousand yard passer in there, two hundred and
- 11:29Speaker 4: seventy to go to.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Seventy to go right here.
- 11:31Speaker 4: So against Detroit with you know, a defense that uh,
- 11:35Speaker 4: you know has been pretty poor of late, he might
- 11:38Speaker 4: get that in against Detroit this weekend in Chicago.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yeah, will see how much, you know, how they play
- 11:44Speaker 3: those guys. Interesting. A lot of teams have decisions to
- 11:46Speaker 3: make on if they want to try and pursue a
- 11:48Speaker 3: little bit of a higher seed or whether they want
- 11:49Speaker 3: to rest knowing they got to turn around play in
- 11:50Speaker 3: a playoff game the next week. Uh, Chicago one of
- 11:53Speaker 3: those teams. Baldy, you were at Seattle Carolina. You touched
- 11:55Speaker 3: on it early. I think Seattle's defense probably the headliner
- 11:59Speaker 3: in this one.
- 12:00Speaker 4: They were I mean it was a three to three
- 12:02Speaker 4: game and you know, early third quarter and you know,
- 12:04Speaker 4: Tank Lawrence, you know, punches the ball out of Trouba
- 12:07Speaker 4: Hubbard's hands and recovers it. I mean it was literally
- 12:10Speaker 4: a peened punch, knocked it out, recovered it. They scored,
- 12:13Speaker 4: you know quickly after that, and then Julian Love, you know,
- 12:16Speaker 4: just really played perfect coverage against against Bryce Young picked
- 12:21Speaker 4: it off. They went down scored, and you know, in
- 12:23Speaker 4: a matter of minutes it went from three to three
- 12:25Speaker 4: to seventeen to three. But Carolina never was in it
- 12:27Speaker 4: because they have had zero passing game against Seattle. And
- 12:31Speaker 4: it's interesting because I saw John Schneider, you know, before
- 12:34Speaker 4: the game. I was talking to him. I talked to
- 12:36Speaker 4: you know, a bunch of the guys. I've known the
- 12:38Speaker 4: letter of Williams since he was drafted, Like he just
- 12:41Speaker 4: keeps getting not just better, but bigger, stronger, his endurance,
- 12:46Speaker 4: he doesn't fatigue. And the entire defensive front, I don't
- 12:49Speaker 4: care if it's Byron Murphy or Tank or Jiranrie, Like
- 12:52Speaker 4: they just roll those guys through and there is no
- 12:55Speaker 4: drop off whoever's on the field and the other thing
- 12:59Speaker 4: and just talking and you know, some of the guys
- 13:01Speaker 4: AJ Barner and you know, graves Able, like they just
- 13:04Speaker 4: have a bond on that team, like you can feel it.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Like I know, Buck, you probably feel the same way
- 13:09Speaker 4: about Jacksonville right now. And I'm sure DJ you feel
- 13:12Speaker 4: the same way about the Chargers. You're being around him
- 13:15Speaker 4: quite a bit, but just being around Seattle for the
- 13:17Speaker 4: first time, like the entire teams out there on the
- 13:20Speaker 4: field warming up in lousy weather and Charlotte, and they
- 13:23Speaker 4: look like they're having a ball just warming up. Whether
- 13:25Speaker 4: it's Starnold throwing balls to you know, Rasie schahat whoever,
- 13:28Speaker 4: it is, like the entire teams out there warming up.
- 13:31Speaker 4: They couldn't wait to play that game. And I thought
- 13:33Speaker 4: they just, you know, they took Carolina part. Carolina's defense
- 13:37Speaker 4: played well. They've got Derek Brown and j C. Horn this,
- 13:40Speaker 4: Mike Jackson played the game of his life. They had
- 13:43Speaker 4: a lot of good performances. But I just felt like
- 13:46Speaker 4: Seattle's defense just you know, the or the hat that day.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I think that's an underrated part of what's going on
- 13:53Speaker 1: with Seattle. Their defense, particularly their front line. Man, they
- 13:57Speaker 1: can get after it with a four man rush. And
- 13:59Speaker 1: that's also the thing is DJ. I know we're talking
- 14:01Speaker 1: about Houston. The teams that are able to do it
- 14:03Speaker 1: with a four man rush just dominating the live scrimmage.
- 14:06Speaker 5: It just sets up the rest of the unit for success.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And when I look at Lawrence and Williams and Brian Murphy,
- 14:13Speaker 1: all those guys that they have at the front line
- 14:16Speaker 1: that can just dominate their one on one matchups. Man,
- 14:20Speaker 1: you have all these fast guys behind them, running and
- 14:24Speaker 1: chasing things.
- 14:24Speaker 5: Down from behind. It just makes it very difficult to move.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And as they continue to embrace Mike McDonald's philosophy, schematics
- 14:33Speaker 1: and all this other stuff, man, you can just see
- 14:36Speaker 1: they're not the legion of Boom, but man, they certainly
- 14:38Speaker 1: give those vibes in terms of how they can control
- 14:41Speaker 1: the name with their defense.
- 14:42Speaker 3: They got players at all three levels, and they got
- 14:44Speaker 3: a ton of depth in their front so they can
- 14:46Speaker 3: roll those guys through and keep them fresh. Speaking of
- 14:49Speaker 3: a team that can get home with four Philly against Buffalo,
- 14:53Speaker 3: I mean I watched this game on TV, which I
- 14:55Speaker 3: don't get a chance to do a lot, but I
- 14:56Speaker 3: watched the whole game on TV, and the whole game
- 14:58Speaker 3: it felt like the whole second half was played on
- 15:00Speaker 3: the fifty yard line and in for Philly. I mean,
- 15:03Speaker 3: every drive for Buffalo would start like at the forty
- 15:06Speaker 3: fifty yard line. I was talking to one of my
- 15:08Speaker 3: buddies in the in the Eagles organization last night and
- 15:11Speaker 3: I said, man, it felt like when you're a kid,
- 15:13Speaker 3: you know, when you're playing ping pong with your kids
- 15:16Speaker 3: and you're like, all right, we're going to twenty one.
- 15:17Speaker 3: We'll start you at fifteen and see if I can
- 15:20Speaker 3: see if I can get you. I mean they're spotting
- 15:21Speaker 3: them half the field the whole second half. Then the
- 15:23Speaker 3: defense just kept standing up time after time, and a
- 15:25Speaker 3: lot of it was you know, Jalen Carter's he's healthy,
- 15:29Speaker 3: he looked full go. He was a nightmare. Jalen Phillips
- 15:31Speaker 3: had nine pressures in this game, which was tied for
- 15:33Speaker 3: the most of any defensive lineman this week. With that's
- 15:36Speaker 3: going to go down, I posted they win the Super Bowl,
- 15:39Speaker 3: that'll be like, that'll be a major discussion point was
- 15:41Speaker 3: how the heck did the Eagles get Jalen Phillips for
- 15:43Speaker 3: a third round pick as unbelievable. Jylex Hunt had two sacks, baldy.
- 15:48Speaker 3: When they can get home what they're for and their
- 15:50Speaker 3: secondary can smot you by the way, Epps is playing
- 15:53Speaker 3: great to go along with all the other guys they got.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I mean, this defense is legit. Yeah, and they smack
- 15:58Speaker 3: you too now.
- 15:59Speaker 4: I mean you saw his from Red Blanket Ship and
- 16:01Speaker 4: from Cooper Dejan like, they'll SMACKI right now. And Zach
- 16:04Speaker 4: Bond is just as steady as it comes. He's not
- 16:06Speaker 4: putting up the numbers that he had a year ago,
- 16:08Speaker 4: but he never comes off the field.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Campbell was great. Campbell played great yesterday.
- 16:13Speaker 4: John I played played really really well for Nacobe in there,
- 16:16Speaker 4: and you know he's just uh, he took he didn't
- 16:19Speaker 4: get benched. But you know, they really went with Da
- 16:21Speaker 4: Kobe for about a month or four or six weeks there,
- 16:24Speaker 4: and he kind of got a reduced role. But he
- 16:26Speaker 4: stepped up yesterday. And so I mean they can keep
- 16:29Speaker 4: the score down against the I mean it's thirteen nothing
- 16:31Speaker 4: deep into.
- 16:31Speaker 2: The fourth quarter. I mean, Buffalo can't get a sniff.
- 16:34Speaker 4: You know, that offensive line been running through everybody the
- 16:37Speaker 4: last couple of weeks. It's a good couldn't get anything going.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You know, it's funny you talked about the Eagles and
- 16:43Speaker 1: how they're able to get it done with their defense,
- 16:46Speaker 1: and DJ is funny because I'm looking at this team
- 16:49Speaker 1: and offensively, they couldn't move the ball at all, and
- 16:52Speaker 1: so defensively, I mean, I literally feel like you're boxing
- 16:55Speaker 1: from the corner the whole fight, like you you're just
- 16:58Speaker 1: finding them off, like you just Mike Tyson is waylaying
- 17:01Speaker 1: and you're just trying to jab him and keep them
- 17:03Speaker 1: at bay. But man, Jayalen Card on the inside, Jalen Phillips,
- 17:07Speaker 1: just what they're able to do. Vig Fangio's thing where look,
- 17:10Speaker 1: they're not gonna give you.
- 17:11Speaker 5: The exposive plays. They're gonna make you drive the ball
- 17:14Speaker 5: down the field.
- 17:14Speaker 1: And it's just frustrating for Josh Allen not having the
- 17:18Speaker 1: deep ball that you can just see him self run
- 17:20Speaker 1: himself in the sacks because he's waiting and waiting and
- 17:23Speaker 1: waiting know what can uncover and those guys get there.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And I said this, like, man, if the Eagles lean
- 17:29Speaker 1: into who they are defense first, find a way to
- 17:32Speaker 1: muster enough points in the playoffs, man, they have the
- 17:36Speaker 1: recipe to be able to get right back and make
- 17:38Speaker 1: another repeat run.
- 17:39Speaker 5: But it's gonna be the defense that does it, not
- 17:41Speaker 5: the offense for them.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Now, I just don't know in a playoff spot right now,
- 17:45Speaker 4: if they can be that conservative on offense, running it
- 17:48Speaker 4: on thirty nine and not even trying to attack and
- 17:52Speaker 4: just go okay, we'll punt, Okay, we'll take the sack, Okay,
- 17:54Speaker 4: we'll throw it away. Like, I don't know if you
- 17:56Speaker 4: can just have that many wasted possessions they have in
- 18:00Speaker 4: almost every game, and still think that you can, you know,
- 18:04Speaker 4: stay up with the Rams or stay up with some
- 18:05Speaker 4: of these other teams out there right now that you
- 18:07Speaker 4: know can can certainly go up down the field and score.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Baldy. They're not getting any push with their in their
- 18:12Speaker 3: run game at all, I know, all year long, but
- 18:15Speaker 3: they get Lane. It sounds like Lane, I'm guessing be
- 18:19Speaker 3: back for the playoffs? Is that the all that you
- 18:21Speaker 3: know more than me on that one.
- 18:22Speaker 4: He's visiting a specialist right now in North Carolina. I
- 18:25Speaker 4: don't know it had you know, I mean, he's trying
- 18:27Speaker 4: to do this without surgery and it's great to you know,
- 18:30Speaker 4: Liz Frank. So there's still a possibility, but you won't
- 18:32Speaker 4: see him this Sunday.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:34Speaker 3: No, I've figured out for sure. Just no matter whether
- 18:36Speaker 3: they can get him back in the playoffs. Other thing
- 18:37Speaker 3: is you're gonna have to to generate offense. You're gonna
- 18:40Speaker 3: have to tell Hurts like, hey, design quarterback runs, like
- 18:43Speaker 3: we're going to jump into that heavy again. He had
- 18:45Speaker 3: been running the ball much at all, Like I don't
- 18:47Speaker 3: know if he's just trying to save himself a little
- 18:50Speaker 3: bit till you get to the to the playoffs. But
- 18:52Speaker 3: I mean they're gonna have to find more offense. And
- 18:54Speaker 3: I saw him in person a couple of weeks ago
- 18:56Speaker 3: that that team or a month ago, and you're looking out there, going, man,
- 18:59Speaker 3: this is I mean, look at the group of receivers
- 19:01Speaker 3: and the tight end, the running backs, like they can't be.
- 19:03Speaker 2: This bad on offense.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Well they I think they lead the league in three
- 19:08Speaker 4: and outs DJ, It's crazy they I mean, they just
- 19:11Speaker 4: go through possessions where they just like there's there's maybe
- 19:15Speaker 4: maybe just because they're playing with the lead and they
- 19:17Speaker 4: just get conservative. But there's not much creativity to this offense.
- 19:21Speaker 4: It's not hard to figure out what they're doing and
- 19:24Speaker 4: from what formations. And on third downs they were just
- 19:26Speaker 4: dreadful yesterday just I think they missed nine of them,
- 19:29Speaker 4: but they were you know, they don't get anything on
- 19:31Speaker 4: first or second down in the run game, so they're
- 19:33Speaker 4: constantly at third nine and third and ten and you
- 19:36Speaker 4: know they're not even running routes to get ten yards.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Right now, I'll say quick pause, will come back. Hit
- 19:40Speaker 3: a couple more games. Buck your game, Jacksonville and Indy, Hey,
- 19:48Speaker 3: the little old Jags a little small market Jags just
- 19:51Speaker 3: keep finding away.
- 19:52Speaker 5: But I mean, like, no one respects to Jags.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Like it's just funny how that is a little small
- 19:57Speaker 1: market team, just a little engine that could Now I
- 20:00Speaker 1: think what's funny about it? Like they certainly play up
- 20:03Speaker 1: all of that stuff. Liam has done a really good
- 20:05Speaker 1: job of creating that edge. They play to it. The
- 20:08Speaker 1: players have kind of embraced that. But what I will
- 20:10Speaker 1: say is he's done a really good job with this
- 20:12Speaker 1: team of being able to adjust end game to whatever
- 20:18Speaker 1: they're facing offensively and defensively. And I'm gonna tell you, defensively,
- 20:22Speaker 1: Anthony Kimpanilli does a great job of that. First quarter
- 20:26Speaker 1: would look like one way and then there's a timeout
- 20:30Speaker 1: or breaking action and they get it fixed right away.
- 20:33Speaker 5: And that's what happened early in the game.
- 20:36Speaker 1: And Philip Rivers was controlling the game, like we talked about,
- 20:39Speaker 1: not necessarily as a thrower, but his ability to get
- 20:42Speaker 1: him in the right run check to get him Oh,
- 20:44Speaker 1: we're gonna run to the babble, We're gonna do this,
- 20:46Speaker 1: We're gonna all of this other stuff, and they shut
- 20:50Speaker 1: it down and then they were like, hey, we got
- 20:52Speaker 1: to get Philip backed up we got to get him
- 20:54Speaker 1: in long yarded situations where his.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Arm strength comes into play.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And as long as Philip was able to play second
- 21:00Speaker 1: and five, third and four mixed downs, he could get
- 21:03Speaker 1: to check down and they could scare on schedule. When
- 21:05Speaker 1: they stopped the run on early downs and blanketed the
- 21:08Speaker 1: receivers on the outside, they made it tough and a
- 21:10Speaker 1: lot of that is just the adjustments. And then offensively, Trevor,
- 21:15Speaker 1: they had some bad turnovers right The reason why the
- 21:17Speaker 1: game was tough is like two red zone turnovers that
- 21:21Speaker 1: just kind of let the team hang in there. Trevor
- 21:24Speaker 1: Lawrence is dealing, he continues to deal, and his connection
- 21:27Speaker 1: with Parker Washington, who has become a really good number
- 21:31Speaker 1: three receiver, and Jacoby Myers and Breton Strains like they
- 21:35Speaker 1: just worked inside out and the connection is there. And
- 21:38Speaker 1: the confidence that Trevor Lawrence plays with is the biggest
- 21:42Speaker 1: difference because he's also using the athleticism and the legs
- 21:45Speaker 1: that he showed at Clemson. That has been the thing
- 21:48Speaker 1: where he is using the legs to get himself out
- 21:51Speaker 1: of trouble or to create exposive plays down the field.
- 21:54Speaker 2: DJ, we do me a favor here, will you go
- 21:56Speaker 2: into your little time machine right there and tell.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Me what you got on Parker Washington, because I never
- 22:03Speaker 4: thought he could be what he is right now in
- 22:05Speaker 4: this office.
- 22:05Speaker 3: He's a third or fourth year Parker Washington, Penn State.
- 22:10Speaker 3: He was five oh nine six two o four. I
- 22:16Speaker 3: don't have a I don't have a forty time on him.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I think he was fast, uh slot quick, outs, quick
- 22:22Speaker 3: in the top, gets knocked off a little bit, and
- 22:26Speaker 3: really tracked the deep ball. I thought he was a
- 22:27Speaker 3: little quicker than fast, for that's what he is. Yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 3: that's what he time decent, But I didn't have his
- 22:33Speaker 3: forty on there. Okay, all right, but quicker than fast.
- 22:40Speaker 1: But I would tell you, And it goes back to
- 22:42Speaker 1: the thing that Ron Wilf used to talk about why
- 22:43Speaker 1: you want wide receivers with punp returnability. So this year
- 22:46Speaker 1: he has two punt returns to the house that a document.
- 22:49Speaker 5: He has another one that was taken back.
- 22:51Speaker 1: But what you're seeing now when you look at him,
- 22:54Speaker 1: his confidence, baldy.
- 22:55Speaker 5: He is now catching the ball.
- 22:57Speaker 1: He's doing stop start maneuvers that he never did the
- 23:00Speaker 1: first couple of years of the league. He would catch
- 23:02Speaker 1: again when he could and go now, he's he's like
- 23:05Speaker 1: playing a video game.
- 23:06Speaker 5: He's stopping and moving back and jumping around.
- 23:09Speaker 1: And it's the freedom that the coaches have given him,
- 23:12Speaker 1: like hey man, go be, you go do and he
- 23:16Speaker 1: has been dynamic with the boy.
- 23:18Speaker 5: I'm gonna tell you DJ I think he had over
- 23:20Speaker 5: one hundred. It was the easiest hundred yards that I've seen.
- 23:24Speaker 1: In terms of just I mean just catch like, oh man,
- 23:29Speaker 1: he has like seven or eight four, one hundred and
- 23:31Speaker 1: fifteen yards. It is a water drip where they just
- 23:37Speaker 1: find the easy completions, easy outs, easy stick routes that
- 23:41Speaker 1: they're diagramming for him to get open.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Well, that's interesting. The reason why I don't have forty
- 23:46Speaker 3: he didn't run one, didn't run on at the run
- 23:48Speaker 3: one at the pro day, so he had an injury.
- 23:50Speaker 3: So that's probably a reason why he went where he
- 23:52Speaker 3: went as well. Real quick, then we'll get a quick pause.
- 23:55Speaker 3: I just want to give you guys a couple nuggets
- 23:56Speaker 3: from games. We're not going to cover. Admiral Carter and
- 23:59Speaker 3: the awful game to unbelievable Giants. The Gators was no
- 24:04Speaker 3: I think too many people were watching that, although it
- 24:05Speaker 3: did have impact. See the first pick was going to
- 24:07Speaker 3: be bald. He had seven pressures. He looked dynamic and
- 24:10Speaker 3: explosive as advertised.
- 24:11Speaker 4: He's got at least a half a sack in four
- 24:13Speaker 4: straight games. He's got ten quarterback hits in the last
- 24:17Speaker 4: four games. He's got six tackle for losses. Like him
- 24:20Speaker 4: and Brian Burns right now, it's like that looks like
- 24:23Speaker 4: you could you could go to work with just those
- 24:25Speaker 4: two guys alone. You can start building your defense. And
- 24:27Speaker 4: that Darius Alexander showed up a bunch as well. Some
- 24:30Speaker 4: rushes like those that core right there. You could do
- 24:34Speaker 4: a lot of damage with those guys the way that
- 24:37Speaker 4: they're playing, because it's running pass, its ability to escape,
- 24:40Speaker 4: its ability to close, it's it's a field. Burns, he's
- 24:43Speaker 4: been unbelievable. You just you know, you try to bootleg
- 24:46Speaker 4: against him, you're gonna you're going to eat the ball
- 24:48Speaker 4: at some point he's just gonna recognize it.
- 24:50Speaker 2: But a lot it was Actually that's a fun take
- 24:52Speaker 2: to watch.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's going to be a good job. I think
- 24:55Speaker 3: to me, everybody's thinking offensive coach with Jackson Dark I
- 24:59Speaker 3: could see them a lot of these top candidates, they're
- 25:00Speaker 3: going to be defensive guys coming there with that front
- 25:02Speaker 3: right scheme, right, coach, Yep, you could get some corners,
- 25:06Speaker 3: you could you could fix that secondary real, you could
- 25:08Speaker 3: fix that whole defense and started.
- 25:10Speaker 4: I'm sure you saw DJ but Dave ran a fire
- 25:13Speaker 4: x stunt from the stand up inside linebacker.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Yep, got a little pick and Burnsy came free.
- 25:18Speaker 4: They ran them on one side and they ran a
- 25:20Speaker 4: little exit stunt, you know, the two of them, and
- 25:22Speaker 4: they end up getting a holy call on it.
- 25:24Speaker 2: You know, they're they're starting to.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Get a little creative with their abilities and how they
- 25:28Speaker 4: can work in combination with each other.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it could be fun. It could be really fun.
- 25:32Speaker 5: Buck.
- 25:32Speaker 3: This is the other nugget on a game we're not
- 25:34Speaker 3: going to touch. We're not talking about the New England game.
- 25:36Speaker 3: But Drake May I posted and we talked about the
- 25:40Speaker 3: numbers comparing Caleb with Josh Allen. How about Drake May
- 25:43Speaker 3: year two versus Joe Burrow year two. I was curious
- 25:46Speaker 3: on that. So Joe Burrow year two seventy point four percent,
- 25:50Speaker 3: Drake May seventy one point seven total tds, Burrow thirty
- 25:54Speaker 3: six May thirty four interceptions, Burrow fourteen May eight total
- 25:58Speaker 3: yards Burrow forty seven to twenty nine, Drake May forty
- 26:01Speaker 3: six twelve. And then I just wrote elite, leady, lead, elite, elite.
- 26:04Speaker 3: That's some elite stuff right there from your tar Heel book.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Look, man, he's coming to his own And DJ I
- 26:09Speaker 1: told you, I was too close to the flame doing
- 26:11Speaker 1: the evaluation, so I saw all the wars and didn't
- 26:14Speaker 1: see enough of the great stuff or appreciate enough of
- 26:17Speaker 1: the great stuff. And what has happened in New England,
- 26:19Speaker 1: all of the things that he teased Carolina fans with,
- 26:25Speaker 1: he has shown.
- 26:25Speaker 5: That he could be that guy.
- 26:26Speaker 1: He is athletic enough, he has arm talent, he has
- 26:29Speaker 1: a little swag that is I would say understated that
- 26:33Speaker 1: allows him to bring this confidence that's infectious. And they
- 26:37Speaker 1: have put him in a system and I'm gonna say this,
- 26:39Speaker 1: the Stefan Diggs factor is real when it comes to
- 26:42Speaker 1: what he's able to do for a young quarterback. But
- 26:44Speaker 1: this dude is playing with the load of confidence. And
- 26:47Speaker 1: Mike Rabel is the perfect coach for this team. And
- 26:50Speaker 1: Josh McDaniels has been really good for Drake May because
- 26:52Speaker 1: he can appeal to his high IQ while also unlocking
- 26:56Speaker 1: some of the athleticism.
- 26:58Speaker 5: This dude is good man.
- 26:59Speaker 1: He look never envisioned him being a top five quarterback
- 27:03Speaker 1: this fast. But I think you have to talk about
- 27:05Speaker 1: him in the context of those guys that are on
- 27:08Speaker 1: the fringe of being regarded as elite quarterbacks.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Let me ask you this, DJ.
- 27:14Speaker 4: I used to you know, we used to see these
- 27:16Speaker 4: coordinators leave the nest of New England, whether it was
- 27:19Speaker 4: Josh McDaniels or Billy O'Brien or you know, Charlie Wise whoever,
- 27:23Speaker 4: and they would take Brady's playbook and it was it
- 27:26Speaker 4: looked ridiculous trying to get Brady's all these different guys
- 27:29Speaker 4: in Huston wherever they went. How much of Josh McDaniel's playbook,
- 27:34Speaker 4: because I watched these plays, DJ, might I remember this,
- 27:37Speaker 4: you know with Tom, but like how much.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Of that playbook?
- 27:41Speaker 4: Like how how much do you think Drake has digested
- 27:45Speaker 4: of what that playbook?
- 27:46Speaker 2: And how expansive that thing is.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I think the ability to do it week to week
- 27:50Speaker 3: and continue building on it is what you know, That's
- 27:53Speaker 3: what's happening. And I mean that's the crazy thing with
- 27:55Speaker 3: Tom was he was just there for so long that
- 27:56Speaker 3: the rolodecks for those things got so large that they
- 27:59Speaker 3: were nothing he hadn't seen. And I just think they're
- 28:02Speaker 3: just continue to just keep adding on. It's like, okay,
- 28:04Speaker 3: what's the point of the diminishing returns and they're not
- 28:07Speaker 3: even close, Like they can keep loading them up and
- 28:10Speaker 3: loading them up, and you haven't seen any drop off
- 28:11Speaker 3: at always thriving. So that's what's so rare about a
- 28:14Speaker 3: young quarterback year too. That volume is I mean any issue.
- 28:18Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:18Speaker 4: What's interesting to me is like they're playing the Jets, right,
- 28:21Speaker 4: and so there's Morgan Moses who is a Jet like
- 28:24Speaker 4: he's playing great football, and there's Austin Hooper who's traveled
- 28:27Speaker 4: around this league at tight ends and he's catching balls
- 28:30Speaker 4: and Hunter Henry's traveler. Like all of a sudden, you
- 28:32Speaker 4: get the quarterback and everybody looks like they're good players.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Now you know they got what the position is. The
- 28:38Speaker 4: key doesn't work until you get a locksmouth. And when
- 28:40Speaker 4: you when you get a locksmith, get that keywork and unlocks,
- 28:42Speaker 4: you can open up and you can go and check
- 28:44Speaker 4: the whole thing out. That's what that's what they've been
- 28:46Speaker 4: able to do with that combination with Drake May and
- 28:48Speaker 4: and working with Josh McDaniels.
- 28:49Speaker 3: It's been great. All right, let's get to Houston and
- 28:53Speaker 3: the charters. I was at this game meant weird game.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Houston comes out the first two possessions Bam bam, Iowa
- 28:59Speaker 3: State bomb, Iowa State bomb hit both those rookie receivers
- 29:03Speaker 3: busted coverages on the Chargers and they're in a hole early.
- 29:07Speaker 3: And then after that, Houston's offense kind of got shut down.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Jesse Menner got them locked in. No more busts. They
- 29:14Speaker 3: controlled the game defensively. They got a couple interceptions and
- 29:17Speaker 3: gave the Chargers opportunities. Chargers just just were terrible in
- 29:22Speaker 3: the red zone and couldn't cash in chips. You get
- 29:24Speaker 3: an interception on a ball it tips off of Gatston's hands.
- 29:27Speaker 3: You get a missed field goal, the first miss field
- 29:30Speaker 3: under forty yards in Cameron Dicker's career. Hey misses an
- 29:33Speaker 3: extra point. Had missed an extra point all year long.
- 29:35Speaker 3: So then you get two shank punts. So just from
- 29:38Speaker 3: special teams, that's four points on the kicker and that's
- 29:41Speaker 3: six points on the punter. That's ten points you could
- 29:45Speaker 3: look at as a big swing in this game. But
- 29:48Speaker 3: I mean, the two things I would say coming leading
- 29:51Speaker 3: into this game that Houston defense was the best that
- 29:54Speaker 3: I've studied on taping in a couple of years. It
- 29:57Speaker 3: reminded me a lot just with the violence they played
- 29:59Speaker 3: with the old Niners defense with Alden Smith, Justin Smith,
- 30:03Speaker 3: Bowman and Willis where you're just watching guys, it's savagery.
- 30:06Speaker 3: They fly around and there's nothing finesse about it, and
- 30:10Speaker 3: they are going to rush through your face off the
- 30:12Speaker 3: edges in those wide nines. It is a fun defense
- 30:16Speaker 3: to watch. And I was sitting there watching it, Buck
- 30:18Speaker 3: and I'm sitting there. You remember when Jayden Daniels was
- 30:20Speaker 3: coming out and we talked a lot about the VR
- 30:23Speaker 3: and how basically it's like a flight simulator and they
- 30:25Speaker 3: could crank it up to like one point two five speed,
- 30:29Speaker 3: And I'm like, Justin Herbert, since the tackles have gone down,
- 30:31Speaker 3: has had to play NFL football and like a one
- 30:34Speaker 3: point five speed simulator. I mean, like, it's incredible that
- 30:40Speaker 3: the team is where they are because of the injuries
- 30:42Speaker 3: that they've had, and he's he's having to play the
- 30:44Speaker 3: game faster than any other quarterback in the league.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Yeah, look, it has to be really really challenging to
- 30:49Speaker 1: deal with all of the musical chairs that you're dealing
- 30:52Speaker 1: with up front, and you can't get set up and
- 30:55Speaker 1: you can't really be the team that you want to
- 30:56Speaker 1: be because you want to alleviate some of the pressure
- 30:58Speaker 1: on him by being able to run the football consistently
- 31:01Speaker 1: and then push the ball down the field when you
- 31:02Speaker 1: want to dictate the terms.
- 31:05Speaker 5: That's it.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Look, they had more plenty of opportunities to seize this
- 31:12Speaker 1: game because after those fourteen points that Houston got, they
- 31:14Speaker 1: couldn't really be a drop and it's just a matter
- 31:17Speaker 1: of and we're going to see it in the playoffs.
- 31:20Speaker 1: You have got to in the red zone. You've got
- 31:22Speaker 1: to make sure that you come away with points. Everybody
- 31:25Speaker 1: wants sevens. But what we can't do.
- 31:27Speaker 5: We can't give the.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Ball away in the red zone because it just it
- 31:31Speaker 1: just crushes you.
- 31:32Speaker 5: And you think about.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Those one the turnover, you think about the missfield goal,
- 31:37Speaker 1: the miss pat You just wipe away all those things
- 31:40Speaker 1: in these competitive games against really comparable teams. That's the
- 31:45Speaker 1: difference in winning and losing in this league, and it's
- 31:47Speaker 1: gonna be the difference in the postseason.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I just I've been.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Saying, if Houston scores twenty points, you would, I mean,
- 31:54Speaker 4: it's the first team they get twenty. That's the magic
- 31:57Speaker 4: number right now, just go through the whole season. But
- 32:01Speaker 4: it's just refreshing to actually watch great defense. I mean,
- 32:04Speaker 4: I mean, just to see great tackling Lassiter Stingley. It
- 32:08Speaker 4: doesn't pick a Petrie Patriot. I mean, Toto has been awesome,
- 32:12Speaker 4: by the way, Yeah, he's been awesome. It's hard to
- 32:16Speaker 4: find matchups where you feel like you can win. I
- 32:19Speaker 4: mean that the receiving core of the week before against
- 32:22Speaker 4: the Cowboys, DJ like they not one defensive back to
- 32:25Speaker 4: cover Trey Harris or you know, Caandre Lambertsmith.
- 32:28Speaker 2: It didn't matter.
- 32:30Speaker 4: They couldn't cover those guys like Justin Herbert couldn't get
- 32:34Speaker 4: to his back foot and he was already moving out
- 32:37Speaker 4: of the pocket. They just smother you and they attack you,
- 32:41Speaker 4: and uh, it's just refreshing to watch great tackling.
- 32:44Speaker 1: The Tay You know, it's funny, right because the Jags
- 32:47Speaker 1: put twenty nine points on him and I don't know
- 32:49Speaker 1: how because when I look at them, man, it is
- 32:52Speaker 1: one of those ugly games. I'm gonna take you back
- 32:55Speaker 1: to your days in college. You remember how good Clipson
- 32:57Speaker 1: was Baldy when you were at do Home, and you remember,
- 33:00Speaker 1: you remember it would be a thirteen to three game,
- 33:03Speaker 1: but it never felt like you had any chance to score.
- 33:06Speaker 1: When I look at Houston, Houston just suffocates you in
- 33:10Speaker 1: a way that you're like, I don't know if we
- 33:12Speaker 1: can get to twenty points, Like I really don't know,
- 33:15Speaker 1: Like unless someone falls down on the perimeter.
- 33:18Speaker 5: It is really.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Hard to score on that defense. And they're just saying
- 33:24Speaker 1: that no one wants to match up.
- 33:25Speaker 3: With There's one I'll let Baldy go, but I'll tell
- 33:29Speaker 3: you there's one team.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I was talking to Luke Keickley yesterday.
- 33:34Speaker 4: That was the best part of the day talking football
- 33:36Speaker 4: with Luke, and he's just telling me about how these
- 33:38Speaker 4: teams are all playing shell defenses, which we know, and
- 33:41Speaker 4: how you know run fits the way we grew up
- 33:43Speaker 4: teaching run fits and watching them.
- 33:45Speaker 2: They don't.
- 33:45Speaker 4: That doesn't really play anymore. And safety's got to come
- 33:48Speaker 4: out of the sky and feel anyways, he's going through
- 33:50Speaker 4: this whole thing. The one team that doesn't play that
- 33:52Speaker 4: game is Houston. They didn't play single high. They stacked
- 33:55Speaker 4: the box they're going to make you throw it. They're
- 33:57Speaker 4: not going to give you first down. Runs every team
- 34:00Speaker 4: right now in this league, not every team, but a
- 34:02Speaker 4: lot of teams. Yeah, you want to run it, you
- 34:04Speaker 4: want to go get seven yards, like, we'll give it
- 34:06Speaker 4: to you.
- 34:07Speaker 2: We're not gonna get beat over the top.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Houston like their single high bullets back there, they're going
- 34:12Speaker 4: to tack the line of scrimmage.
- 34:14Speaker 5: All right.
- 34:14Speaker 3: So here's the team. And I'm gonna preface this by
- 34:17Speaker 3: saying they played early in the year and Houston blew
- 34:21Speaker 3: them out of the water. But that was a team
- 34:23Speaker 3: that at that time. They played Baltimore. Baltimore started Cooper Rush,
- 34:27Speaker 3: who through three interceptions, they never got the run game going.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Stroud had a great game. He threw for four touchdowns
- 34:33Speaker 3: on a Ravens secondary at that time that was not
- 34:36Speaker 3: in a good place. And I look up now and
- 34:39Speaker 3: I'm sitting and watching how they match up with everybody,
- 34:41Speaker 3: and I'm thinking the one team they probably don't want
- 34:43Speaker 3: to see is a four to five matchup having to
- 34:46Speaker 3: go into Baltimore with Derek Henry in the run game.
- 34:50Speaker 3: And if they've kind of got that going, a little
- 34:52Speaker 3: bit of Looie Gilman's kind of settled the secondary down
- 34:54Speaker 3: a little bit. They're playing better in the back end
- 34:56Speaker 3: right now. Like just of styles make fights. Yeah, that's
- 35:00Speaker 3: probably the one. If you're a team that's going to
- 35:01Speaker 3: drop back and throw it thirty five times against Houston,
- 35:04Speaker 3: god bless you. I mean, good luck blocking those guys.
- 35:07Speaker 3: But if that's not that's not how Baltimore.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Thirty six rushers they're going to win the game. Yeah,
- 35:11Speaker 2: they're going to control it again. They ran fifty three times.
- 35:14Speaker 4: But if Derrick Henry's running it thirty six times, they're
- 35:16Speaker 4: winning the game.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:18Speaker 3: I mean they lot. That game was forty four to ten.
- 35:20Speaker 3: And I think people will look at that and say, oh,
- 35:22Speaker 3: Houston will just go clober them again. And I'm like, no,
- 35:24Speaker 3: it's not it. That's not the same Baltimore team, And
- 35:27Speaker 3: it's just from a matchup standpoint, it's cold. It's big
- 35:31Speaker 3: old Derrick Henry, you know, run a ball a million times.
- 35:33Speaker 3: I just think that's the one.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Buck.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't. I don't love that one
- 35:37Speaker 3: as much for Houston anybody else that they scare off against.
- 35:39Speaker 3: I don't care where they play them. I it would
- 35:41Speaker 3: not be a comfortable afternoon for the other team.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Okay, so giving your Baltimore roots, why does it take.
- 35:46Speaker 5: Them so long to get to this point every year?
- 35:49Speaker 1: Like?
- 35:49Speaker 2: Why who you are? Who you are?
- 35:52Speaker 5: Like, why does it body?
- 35:54Speaker 1: I feel like they've wasted almost an entire season to realize,
- 35:58Speaker 1: you know, we're really good when we just lad up
- 36:01Speaker 1: and just dalkey kick people with the rain game and
- 36:04Speaker 1: just I mean, it is frustrating to me to watch
- 36:09Speaker 1: the Baltimore Ravens play because I'm just like.
- 36:10Speaker 5: Why don't they play to who they are?
- 36:13Speaker 4: You know, I was so intrigued by Baltimore this summer.
- 36:16Speaker 4: I went to see him in training camp twice. So
- 36:18Speaker 4: one of the trips, I'm talking to Patrick McCart and
- 36:21Speaker 4: Derrick Henry together and I'm like, how do you like
- 36:25Speaker 4: that's five hundred and fifty pounds of just style, right,
- 36:28Speaker 4: And that's all they did on this weekend. They lined
- 36:31Speaker 4: up in I formation and they just there was no
- 36:34Speaker 4: misdirection Lamar Jatt like snoop Ran for a couple of times,
- 36:37Speaker 4: but for the most part, they just lined up and
- 36:39Speaker 4: knock you off the ball and really regards the eyes
- 36:42Speaker 4: to the hole for Derrick Henry, and they just went
- 36:44Speaker 4: back to the basics that I saw him training camp, going,
- 36:47Speaker 4: who's gonna stop this? You go and give Patrick Rickcard
- 36:50Speaker 4: a nice little slap on the shoulder and nice seeing
- 36:52Speaker 4: anybody like it's like hitting a piece of steel. That
- 36:55Speaker 4: guy is solid as a rock man. And I'm with
- 36:58Speaker 4: you DJ, like, I don't know, Bucket, I don't know
- 37:00Speaker 4: why they deviate from that.
- 37:03Speaker 5: It is the bad thing to me.
- 37:06Speaker 1: You got two of the best runners or whatever, and
- 37:08Speaker 1: I know Lamar Jackson has been nicked up or whatever,
- 37:10Speaker 1: but I would have that conversation with him too. Hey, bro,
- 37:12Speaker 1: we're at our best when Derrick Henry runs it and
- 37:15Speaker 1: you go run it, and I know what we're aging out.
- 37:17Speaker 1: You need to run it eight to ten times because
- 37:19Speaker 1: it enhances what we do offensively.
- 37:21Speaker 5: When they won the football, it just drives me crazy.
- 37:26Speaker 4: I saw a cupback run and Bullard, the safety in
- 37:29Speaker 4: Green Bay, is there and he's helpless, like Gerry come
- 37:33Speaker 4: the train, the track, he's coming, you know, I mean,
- 37:38Speaker 4: like he's sitting there helplessness, no help, nobody's coming to
- 37:41Speaker 4: save him.
- 37:41Speaker 2: And then she got to like you just got to
- 37:43Speaker 2: buck it.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Up and go low and hang on and just get
- 37:46Speaker 4: trucked and I'm going that's the first quarter. I'm like,
- 37:49Speaker 4: by the third quarter, they were like diving in air
- 37:51Speaker 4: final to stop.
- 37:52Speaker 5: You want no parts.
- 37:53Speaker 1: You want no parts of the physicality of Derrick Henry
- 37:56Speaker 1: coming downhill. And they have other running back. So if
- 38:00Speaker 1: you use Keaton Mitchell to oh, I got the hammer mail,
- 38:04Speaker 1: Let's bring a little juice. Yeah, now, let's bring a
- 38:07Speaker 1: little juice. We tend to rise to meet a little bit.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Now here comes this dude's scuorting all around. And then
- 38:12Speaker 1: if you use the quarterback to enhance that man, now
- 38:15Speaker 1: you deal with it basically triple option all day and
- 38:18Speaker 1: you have enough on the perimeter to throw. I just
- 38:22Speaker 1: look my wish for them. I know we're past Christmas.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Just lean into like who you've been for like a
- 38:28Speaker 1: decade plus and be okay with it.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Let me do my favorite thing, which is to put
- 38:34Speaker 3: Bucky on the spot here and Baldi you can follow
- 38:36Speaker 3: it up. But I'm just gonna I'm gonna preface this
- 38:39Speaker 3: by saying Tyler Shuck's played really well this year. He's
- 38:42Speaker 3: played really well, especially coming down the stretch. He played
- 38:44Speaker 3: really good football. It's been impressive. Saying that. Now, if
- 38:49Speaker 3: I were to tell you Buck that you are the
- 38:51Speaker 3: owner of the first overall pick, which right now is
- 38:54Speaker 3: the Las Vegas Raiders, And I told you that. You know, hey, Tyler,
- 38:59Speaker 3: Shuck's been impressive. Schuck's twenty six years old. You know
- 39:01Speaker 3: who else is twenty six years old? Malik Willis is
- 39:04Speaker 3: twenty six years old. Malik Willis this year is thirty
- 39:07Speaker 3: for thirty five for four hundred and twenty two passing yards,
- 39:09Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty three rushing yards, three passing touchdown,
- 39:12Speaker 3: two rushing touchdowns, no picks. So if I told you
- 39:15Speaker 3: Buck you can you can just swing. You can sign
- 39:18Speaker 3: him as a free agent, pay him, you know, beat
- 39:21Speaker 3: everybody out. I'll bit everybody to get Malik Willis. You
- 39:23Speaker 3: could then use that first pick, auction it off, sell it,
- 39:28Speaker 3: or would you rather say, now I'm gonna stick and pick.
- 39:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna take this rookie quarterback here with the first
- 39:33Speaker 3: overall pick, and off you go. So I'm going to
- 39:34Speaker 3: give you that decision here as we sit. What is
- 39:36Speaker 3: this December twenty ninth.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Go ahead, Well, I'm more likely to take the experienced player.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Now the caveat is we talk about Malik Willis or whatever.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Can Ivreen whoever's been working with him a Green Bay
- 39:48Speaker 1: because that's the version that I want, because I think
- 39:50Speaker 1: is really important that whatever they've done there, and here's
- 39:54Speaker 1: what I'll say, they've been able to do that from
- 39:56Speaker 1: day one with him, Like whatever was.
- 39:59Speaker 5: It working in Tennessee.
- 40:00Speaker 1: He goes to Green Bay and I think within two
- 40:03Speaker 1: weeks he has to make a start or play and
- 40:05Speaker 1: that Willis that we're seeing now has been on display
- 40:08Speaker 1: in Green Bay. So I want that blueprint. I want
- 40:11Speaker 1: the coach. I want everyone to come on down as
- 40:14Speaker 1: a package deal. It's almost like, hey, you get this
- 40:17Speaker 1: and the extra stuff. But yeah, that Molik Willis I
- 40:19Speaker 1: absolutely could play with. But it's important that we set
- 40:22Speaker 1: up the same infrastructure that he's been successful with the
- 40:25Speaker 1: green Back thirty five.
- 40:27Speaker 2: I want Killimore, Doug Ducemier with Tyler. Yeah, yeah, they've
- 40:31Speaker 2: done a great job. Guys can come with me too.
- 40:34Speaker 3: I think they missed out in Philly a little bit, huh.
- 40:36Speaker 3: I mean Kellen and Nuss have done a great job
- 40:41Speaker 3: there in New Orleans and Tyler shucks played played really
- 40:44Speaker 3: really well last game here. I know we run out
- 40:50Speaker 3: of time bally, but Pittsburgh Cleveland. I mean, Pittsburgh has
- 40:54Speaker 3: it all right in front of him, and I don't
- 40:55Speaker 3: want to say you blew it, but man Alive said, look,
- 40:58Speaker 3: that's a great Cleveland defense with shortsy run on the show,
- 41:02Speaker 3: Miles Garrett and that group, it's a really, really good group.
- 41:04Speaker 3: But they just laid an egg in that game.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Well they had it, they had it. There's a sequence
- 41:09Speaker 4: in the second quarter. It's a you know, it's a
- 41:10Speaker 4: ten to three game, and it's third and seven and
- 41:13Speaker 4: Aaron runs.
- 41:14Speaker 2: For six yards.
- 41:15Speaker 4: He slides and he's pissed at himself because he slid
- 41:17Speaker 4: short of the first down. So it becomes fourth and one,
- 41:20Speaker 4: and fourth and one they get. They take a go
- 41:22Speaker 4: shot to Scotty Miller. There was no chance, Like, there's
- 41:25Speaker 4: no dk. They go to Scotty on a go route
- 41:28Speaker 4: and the best receiver is Kenneth game Well, and here
- 41:31Speaker 4: he is doubling on Miles Garrett and he's not even
- 41:35Speaker 4: in the Like it's fourth and one, Like your best
- 41:37Speaker 4: player in space is Kenneth Gainwell and has been. And
- 41:41Speaker 4: it just they came away with nothing. You know, in
- 41:43Speaker 4: a game where you know, points were at a premium.
- 41:46Speaker 2: It's just it was.
- 41:48Speaker 4: It was frustrated watching Miles Garrett was wrong when he
- 41:50Speaker 4: said they were more worried about me getting the record
- 41:53Speaker 4: than winning the game. And if you watch the game,
- 41:56Speaker 4: like that's all they did was try to stop Garrett
- 41:58Speaker 4: and they weren't trying to do anything else at that point.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Buck, they lose Darnel Washington broken arm, and DK Metcalf
- 42:06Speaker 3: with that suspension, I mean that that's those are their
- 42:09Speaker 3: two bully players, one you know, one at the line
- 42:11Speaker 3: of scrimmage and one on the perimeter. They lost their bullies.
- 42:15Speaker 1: So I'm telling you, man, I feel like the Pittsburgh
- 42:18Speaker 1: still just do this all the time. As soon as
- 42:20Speaker 1: you think that they are back and ready to go,
- 42:22Speaker 1: they all stub their toil against the team that they
- 42:24Speaker 1: shouldn't lose to. DK Metcalf being gone certainly impacts them
- 42:28Speaker 1: because now they're forced to play half court basketball and
- 42:31Speaker 1: they don't have anybody that you worry about. There's no
- 42:33Speaker 1: one on their wide receiver corps that you have to
- 42:36Speaker 1: double team, tilt covers two or anything. So now you
- 42:39Speaker 1: can concentrate on the running game. You can squeeze the
- 42:41Speaker 1: pocket of Aaron Rodgers, and they have no recourse and
- 42:45Speaker 1: for this team to lose to Cleveland like that. Man,
- 42:48Speaker 1: if I'm Baltimore, I'm gonna replicate this in Baltimore is
- 42:50Speaker 1: a more explosive with more dynamic offense.
- 42:53Speaker 5: Look, man, they.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Are going uphill in this week a team matchup against
- 42:57Speaker 1: Baltimore to win the division, and I'm being honest, I
- 42:59Speaker 1: just don't see how they can get it done.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Yeah we're saying that.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Well, you know, he's playing quarterback for Baltimore and it's
- 43:04Speaker 3: hard to think that Baltimore is going to lose that game,
- 43:07Speaker 3: just with how hamstrung Pittsburgh is offensively right now.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Bally No, I agree. I mean, if Snoop gots to play, though,
- 43:14Speaker 2: is good. It's been good. You know, I've seen him
- 43:17Speaker 2: go to some other teams.
- 43:18Speaker 4: I never thought he was a good fit in Miami,
- 43:20Speaker 4: but he's there, and you know, travel around the league,
- 43:22Speaker 4: but he's.
- 43:23Speaker 2: He's a good fit there in Baltimore.
- 43:24Speaker 4: He scrambled and he had to scramble, made the throws
- 43:27Speaker 4: he had to make, and you know, I thought he
- 43:30Speaker 4: was I thought he handled himself really really well and
- 43:33Speaker 4: a game that they had to have him, thought he
- 43:35Speaker 4: did his role just fine.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Last thing, BALI will let you go. I teased, you know,
- 43:39Speaker 3: so many great games. You've got Tampa Carolina for the division.
- 43:42Speaker 3: We talked about Baltimore and Pittsburgh for the division. You've
- 43:45Speaker 3: got for the division and the number one seed though,
- 43:47Speaker 3: the heavyweight matchup in San Francisco, Seattle and San Francisco.
- 43:51Speaker 3: Just give me real quick, Baldly. We're ways away from
- 43:54Speaker 3: the game here on Saturday. But what's your what's your
- 43:56Speaker 3: key to that one?
- 43:57Speaker 2: I mean, it's gonna be it's gonna be a playoff game.
- 44:00Speaker 2: It's a play and play.
- 44:01Speaker 4: But I think San Francisco's offense right now is just clicking,
- 44:05Speaker 4: and so can Seattle match that right now? I mean,
- 44:07Speaker 4: I know Seattle's going to give him problems. We'll see
- 44:10Speaker 4: if Trent Williams plays or doesn't play. I don't know
- 44:13Speaker 4: if that's a hamstring. I don't know what it.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Is, but he pulled up on.
- 44:16Speaker 4: But regardless, like their offense right now, I feel like
- 44:20Speaker 4: they can get plan with the best of them and
- 44:22Speaker 4: they can execute with the best of them. So I
- 44:24Speaker 4: don't know that Seattle's offense. Rashi Sahi went down in
- 44:27Speaker 4: that game. It felt like they lost a lot when
- 44:29Speaker 4: they did, but uh is vanilla as San Francisco's defense is,
- 44:37Speaker 4: and I know Seattle can score as well, but I
- 44:39Speaker 4: feel like San Francisco right now, I think I would
- 44:43Speaker 4: have to take them just the way the offense is clicking.
- 44:46Speaker 3: How about Sam Baldy, Sam second year in a row,
- 44:49Speaker 3: He's gonna go and a has to go on the road.
- 44:52Speaker 3: But it's a one It's a one to five game,
- 44:54Speaker 3: right It's the number one seed or the fifth seed.
- 44:56Speaker 3: That's no higher stakes than that, you.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Know, I think, yeah.
- 45:01Speaker 4: I just was talking to Sam yesterday, like his whole
- 45:03Speaker 4: career really changed when he went to San Francisco and
- 45:07Speaker 4: he saw how Kyle, how hard you have to be
- 45:09Speaker 4: coached during the week, and what game planning looks like,
- 45:12Speaker 4: and what talent and how you get the edge in
- 45:15Speaker 4: coaching and all that. I think he saw that first
- 45:18Speaker 4: hand for the first time in his career, and I
- 45:21Speaker 4: think it really opened his eyes. I mean thing, he's
- 45:22Speaker 4: probably really thankful sitting there and watching rock Party that year,
- 45:26Speaker 4: but he's going to get a great opportunity here this
- 45:28Speaker 4: weekend to be the number one seed. Everything go through Seattle,
- 45:32Speaker 4: you know, I think I think they have they have
- 45:34Speaker 4: a chance because I think the two backs Charbonnay and
- 45:37Speaker 4: Walker right now, the way they're playing, they're pretty good
- 45:41Speaker 4: shape right now.
- 45:42Speaker 5: Yeah, Look, this is about an even a matchup.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Az.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I can think when I think about those three teams
- 45:48Speaker 1: in the West, the Rams, the Niners, and the Seahawks,
- 45:50Speaker 1: like you can play around Robin and I think all
- 45:52Speaker 1: of them that were ended with the same number of
- 45:54Speaker 1: wins and losses if we did it over time. The
- 45:56Speaker 1: thing about Seattle and San Francisco having played, having to
- 46:00Speaker 1: play in San Francisco, I think the advantage goes to
- 46:03Speaker 1: the Niners just because the energy is going to be
- 46:06Speaker 1: through the roof.
- 46:06Speaker 5: It's gonna be able to help the Niners defense.
- 46:08Speaker 1: But offensively, man rock Perty is in such a rhythm
- 46:12Speaker 1: that it's hard for me to make against Like they've
- 46:14Speaker 1: been scoring touchdowns since the end of November and barely
- 46:18Speaker 1: put it, like Thomas more Stead is doing wisprints, doing
- 46:21Speaker 1: putts just so we can get his cardio up because
- 46:23Speaker 1: he's not being utilized. This offense is on fire, and
- 46:27Speaker 1: normally in these games I'll lean towards defense, but I
- 46:30Speaker 1: just don't know if you can stop the Niners offense
- 46:32Speaker 1: enough to put up enough points to beat them.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's to me, it's it's fascinating just
- 46:38Speaker 3: from the standpoint of I'll give the Niners offense the
- 46:41Speaker 3: edge of over Seattle's offense, and I think, but I think
- 46:43Speaker 3: it's somewhat close when Seattle's get rolling, and I would
- 46:47Speaker 3: give Seattle a huge advantage on defense versus the Niners
- 46:50Speaker 3: on defense. Sure, but that's not taking into account Kyle
- 46:53Speaker 3: Shanahan and Rock Party being in this rhythm and flow
- 46:57Speaker 3: that they're in right now with you Check and the
- 46:58Speaker 3: motions that they're using with him, Baldy. You know, Buck's
- 47:02Speaker 3: going to spend a good month as someone who loves
- 47:05Speaker 3: to just run the football, hates hates quarterbacks, hates receivers,
- 47:07Speaker 3: doesn't want to ever throw the ball. He's going to
- 47:09Speaker 3: spend a month studying all these motions in this run
- 47:11Speaker 3: game of the Niners. I'm gonna see at Granada Hills
- 47:14Speaker 3: next year. I'm just telling you right now, you see
- 47:16Speaker 3: all these.
- 47:17Speaker 4: I texted Luke Kickley. I was watching if I was
- 47:20Speaker 4: putting myself in TJ. Edwards shoes, and I'm going, what
- 47:23Speaker 4: should I do here? Like I see them, I see
- 47:26Speaker 4: Jews coming in motion. I see Tonga is coming back
- 47:28Speaker 4: the other direction. I'm like, am I going to take
- 47:30Speaker 4: myself out of the play here? In this cutback by McCaffrey,
- 47:35Speaker 4: Yeah it Kyle's good, man, Kyle's good.
- 47:38Speaker 3: That's good stuff. Hey Baldy, you're the best buddy. Thanks
- 47:40Speaker 3: for the time you see you next week, New year man,
- 47:43Speaker 3: Happy New Year. There he goes Brian Baldinger. Buck, this
- 47:47Speaker 3: is a fun one. Good to be back together and uh,
- 47:50Speaker 3: the meaningful football at this time of the year. I
- 47:53Speaker 3: love colleg schipball. I love we get the playoffs, you know, big,
- 47:56Speaker 3: some big playoff games coming up here. But the quality
- 47:59Speaker 3: of the football that we've seen the last couple of
- 48:01Speaker 3: weeks in the NFL, like these big matchups, these heavyweight
- 48:04Speaker 3: fights that we've seen, I don't know, this is some
- 48:06Speaker 3: of the best football I've seen in my lifetime. It's
- 48:08Speaker 3: been unbelievably good.
- 48:10Speaker 5: It's unbelievably good.
- 48:11Speaker 1: And we're going into a playoffs with DJJ is not
- 48:14Speaker 1: a prohibitive favorite in terms of who's going to win
- 48:16Speaker 1: the super Bowl.
- 48:17Speaker 5: And we can talk about matchups because matchups will matter
- 48:20Speaker 5: in this.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Tournament in terms of who you get who's on your line,
- 48:24Speaker 1: but It's fascinating because I can't remember a time. I mean,
- 48:30Speaker 1: when was the last time it was is wide opening
- 48:32Speaker 1: the NFC and the AFC field in terms of anyone
- 48:36Speaker 1: who gets in the tournament can.
- 48:37Speaker 5: Feel like DJ.
- 48:39Speaker 1: If the Baltimore Ravens get in, they have to feel like, Hey,
- 48:42Speaker 1: you know what, all that is great, Let's put it
- 48:44Speaker 1: past this.
- 48:45Speaker 5: We just need to win three games to go to
- 48:47Speaker 5: the thing.
- 48:47Speaker 1: We can make it right by playing the right way
- 48:50Speaker 1: for three games and we can go to the show.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Every team is gonna feel like that. There's not a
- 48:55Speaker 1: weak team that is going to skate into the postseason.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Everybody has a legitimate chance to win it. And that
- 49:01Speaker 1: is what it's going to make it such a compelling
- 49:03Speaker 1: watch it.
- 49:04Speaker 3: And I'm just sitting there going, I mean, just very
- 49:07Speaker 3: very quietly. The Philadelphiagles have gotten their defensive pieces back
- 49:11Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, I mean, do you remember
- 49:14Speaker 3: this if you were on a team like this, Because
- 49:15Speaker 3: I do think there is something to this where you're
- 49:19Speaker 3: late in the year and to go on the road
- 49:23Speaker 3: against a quality opponent, like a super Bowl caliber team
- 49:26Speaker 3: and kind of beat them up like that's got to
- 49:29Speaker 3: be a huge confidence builders Philly's not going to be
- 49:31Speaker 3: at home to the playoffs, are more than likely going
- 49:33Speaker 3: to have to get on the road a little bit.
- 49:34Speaker 3: But I think they've kind of just as a defense,
- 49:36Speaker 3: are like, yeah, that's Josh Allen, that's the Buffalo Bills
- 49:39Speaker 3: wet Weather, Like we can take this show anywhere we
- 49:42Speaker 3: need to take it.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Well, one big fango Canstondon Road and be like, look,
- 49:45Speaker 1: that's arguably be the best quarterback in football. We're not
- 49:47Speaker 1: going to face anybody that's better and more dynamic than him.
- 49:50Speaker 5: So we get snuffed him out of hold them to
- 49:52Speaker 5: thirteen points.
- 49:53Speaker 3: Who best running team in the NFL?
- 49:54Speaker 5: Yeah, who can't we beat? Going to it?
- 49:58Speaker 1: We've seen all the other teams dealt with the Rams before,
- 50:01Speaker 1: Like they can just go through this laundry list of
- 50:03Speaker 1: teams and know that we can do it. And there's
- 50:07Speaker 1: something about like your attention going up when you've been
- 50:09Speaker 1: a champion, when you get to this part of the
- 50:12Speaker 1: year where it really matters extra attention to detail, just
- 50:16Speaker 1: knowing what it takes to win it. That's a huge
- 50:18Speaker 1: advantage for them in this postseason.
- 50:21Speaker 3: I've kind of forgotten about a little bit with these
- 50:23Speaker 3: asc or NFC West teams looking like Juggernauts to go
- 50:26Speaker 3: along with the Bears. But I'm gonna be an awesome,
- 50:28Speaker 3: awesome playoff, gonna be a great Week eighteen with three
- 50:33Speaker 3: division titles on the line. Cannot wait for that. It's
- 50:36Speaker 3: gonna be fun, all right, Buck, We're gonn get out
- 50:38Speaker 3: of here. We will see you next time, right here
- 50:40Speaker 3: on movie sticks.
