- 0:08Speaker 1: Scandal and vice, or sugar and spice It's Naughty But
- 0:13Speaker 1: Nice with Rob Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to the Naughty But Nice show I'm your hamster
- 0:19Speaker 1: ramp shooter It's Friday, I'm still in Britain chasing those
- 0:23Speaker 1: royals around Although they are making so much noise this
- 0:27Speaker 1: week It's a perfect week to be in the UK
- 0:30Speaker 1: Because of that Diana book that is coming out in
- 0:33Speaker 1: just a few days days. That's right. I've got all
- 0:36Speaker 1: the gossip about that. We have a fantastic show. Once again,
- 0:40Speaker 1: you're the co-host today. It's very, very rude of me
- 0:44Speaker 1: to ask our co-hosts in America, in New York, to
- 0:47Speaker 1: get up at what time is it? So it is
- 0:51Speaker 1: 2.30am in New York right now. 2.30am, 7.30am in the UK,
- 0:57Speaker 1: a five hour time difference. So I'm by myself this week.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But isn't that not exactly true? Isn't that An exaggeration,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm never by myself. I'm with you, the naughty. So
- 1:09Speaker 1: let's bottle up, get ready, audience participation, sing along. What
- 1:13Speaker 1: time is it, my friends? It is tea time. Oh,
- 1:18Speaker 1: you sound marvellous. OK, huge story at the top of
- 1:21Speaker 1: the show. Diana's brother, Charles Spencer's bombshell claims in the book.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I am lucky enough, I know enough insiders in the
- 1:31Speaker 1: publishing world and the palace that I have got some
- 1:36Speaker 1: of these details that have not yet been released. One
- 1:39Speaker 1: of the most shocking new details is that Charles allegedly was, quote,
- 1:45Speaker 1: giddy elated when Diana died. So Spencer, because it's two
- 1:51Speaker 1: Charles here, it gets complicated. Charles Spencer and King Charles.
- 1:56Speaker 1: They're both Charles. So moving forward, we're going to call
- 1:58Speaker 1: Charles Spencer Charles. Spencer, not Charles, because I don't want
- 2:02Speaker 1: any confusion. So we're going to call him Spencer. So
- 2:05Speaker 1: Charles Spencer says that on the morning Diana died, the
- 2:10Speaker 1: then Prince Charles, he wasn't king at the time. He
- 2:13Speaker 1: was a prince at the time. He called him and
- 2:16Speaker 1: he sounded, quote, giddy, elated, like a lottery winner. And strangely,
- 2:24Speaker 1: matter of fact, after telling William and Harry that their
- 2:28Speaker 1: mother was dead, Charles Spencer say he now suspects that
- 2:33Speaker 1: Prince Charles may have initially thought Diana's death freed him
- 2:40Speaker 1: to marry the woman he loved, Camilla Parker Bowles. Now,
- 2:45Speaker 1: my insiders in the palace who have an agenda, everybody
- 2:49Speaker 1: who tells a story has an agenda, has a side.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They clearly support the king. They clearly support the then
- 2:57Speaker 1: Prince Charles. They're saying, That just doesn't add up. If
- 3:02Speaker 1: you look at photographs, if you look at footage of
- 3:05Speaker 1: Charles when Diana died, he looks absolutely devastated. You've seen
- 3:12Speaker 1: the footage. He was devastated. Also, too, I think it
- 3:14Speaker 1: is worth remembering, it was Prince Charles who demanded that
- 3:19Speaker 1: royal protocol be thrown out and they send the royal
- 3:23Speaker 1: jet to collect the body. Not only did a royal
- 3:26Speaker 1: jet go to Paris to collect Diana, But Charles went
- 3:30Speaker 1: with it. He's the ex-husband, but he insisted that he
- 3:35Speaker 1: wanted to be there. He wanted to show some respect.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So that's what people close to Charles are telling me. Wow,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Charles Spencer, a very, very different story. Who do you
- 3:48Speaker 1: believe here? Who do you think? Maybe both are right.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I think the palace's statement was very carefully crafted too.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It's basically calling Charles Spencer a liar without using that word.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And they talk a lot about recollections. And when we
- 4:02Speaker 1: do think about stuff, when we remember stuff, we do
- 4:06Speaker 1: sometimes exaggerate it. We do even tell the truth, but
- 4:11Speaker 1: it's through our eyes. So what might have seemed like,
- 4:15Speaker 1: what's the word? Giddy. That's the word. Giddy-elated. What might
- 4:19Speaker 1: have seemed giddy-elated to Charles Spencer might have been a
- 4:24Speaker 1: very different emotion. from Prince Charles. Okay, let's do more
- 4:28Speaker 1: of the details in this book. So Charles Spencer claims
- 4:32Speaker 1: that Charles later exploded during an argument whether William and
- 4:38Speaker 1: Harry should walk behind the coffin, accusing the Spencer family
- 4:42Speaker 1: of having, quote, no bloody sense of duty. So if
- 4:46Speaker 1: you remember after Diana died, oh, it's a haunting, haunting
- 4:50Speaker 1: image of her coffin there. rolled through the streets of
- 4:55Speaker 1: London on a gun carriage. And behind her was Prince Charles,
- 5:00Speaker 1: her brother, Charles Spencer. Prince Philip was there, the Queen's husband,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and these two young boys. It was heartbreaking. Spencer, Charles Spencer,
- 5:11Speaker 1: says the palace, they wanted William and Harry in the
- 5:14Speaker 1: funeral procession. Partly, not totally, but partly because their presence
- 5:20Speaker 1: would protect Charles. from any abuse from the crowds. That's interesting.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Had the boys not been there, might the crowds have
- 5:29Speaker 1: booed Charles, King Charles, Prince Charles at the time? Potentially.
- 5:34Speaker 1: They're not going to boo having the children there. In fact,
- 5:37Speaker 1: my insiders tell me that the first time you see Meghan,
- 5:40Speaker 1: Meghan's back in the UK, we've been talking about that,
- 5:42Speaker 1: she'll be with the kids. They are terrified. Harry went
- 5:45Speaker 1: to a big event last night and Meghan did not
- 5:47Speaker 1: go because it was not the right moment. for Meghan
- 5:51Speaker 1: to be reintroduced to the British public. They want that
- 5:54Speaker 1: moment when the kids are involved. However, I should point
- 5:58Speaker 1: out here, there was somebody else in that funeral procession, Diana.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I just can't imagine the Brits, who were so distraught
- 6:09Speaker 1: back then, so upset, I can't imagine them booing while
- 6:13Speaker 1: a coffin, a coffin, think about that for a minute,
- 6:16Speaker 1: of Princess Diana was rolled past them. So I sort
- 6:20Speaker 1: of can see this. I was a publicist for a
- 6:22Speaker 1: long time. Having children around in a very difficult situation
- 6:27Speaker 1: often changes mood, the reaction of the crowd. So there
- 6:31Speaker 1: might be some truth to that. But my palace insiders
- 6:35Speaker 1: are saying it's absolutely not true. If the boys said no,
- 6:39Speaker 1: they wouldn't have done it. Now, Harry has spoken about
- 6:41Speaker 1: this in his book Spare. So we have his interpretation.
- 6:44Speaker 1: We have his impression. William has never ever spoken about this.
- 6:50Speaker 1: But we now have two different stories around the same event. Obviously,
- 6:54Speaker 1: we know the boys did walk in the funeral procession.
- 6:58Speaker 1: The palace, Charles Spencer claims, wanted them there to protect
- 7:03Speaker 1: the future king, Prince Charles. His people are pushing back saying, no,
- 7:07Speaker 1: this was about duty. This was actually about the British public.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And they wanted to make sure that the royal family,
- 7:15Speaker 1: that the family... was represented. And if they had not walked,
- 7:20Speaker 1: think about that for a minute, the disrespect that would
- 7:24Speaker 1: have shown to Diana would have been overwhelming. And they
- 7:27Speaker 1: wanted to pay respect. Once again, Charles sent the royal plane.
- 7:32Speaker 1: The Queen did not want to do that. It was
- 7:35Speaker 1: against protocol. Didn't want to do it. It was Charles
- 7:39Speaker 1: that made that happen. He also claimed the brother here,
- 7:43Speaker 1: Charles Spencer, that Diana wanted to abandon her engagement after
- 7:48Speaker 1: concluding that Charles did not love her. So when they
- 7:51Speaker 1: were engaged, it was a short engagement. But when they
- 7:53Speaker 1: were engaged, he claims his sister said, no, I don't
- 7:57Speaker 1: want to do this. He doesn't love me. So before
- 7:59Speaker 1: they got married, Charles Spencer is claiming that Diana, his sister,
- 8:04Speaker 1: wanted to end it. But their father, their father told
- 8:07Speaker 1: her it was too late to embarrass the royal family
- 8:10Speaker 1: by pulling out. Had she pulled out before the wedding,
- 8:13Speaker 1: the world would have exploded. Back then, this would have
- 8:17Speaker 1: been a huge story. It'd still be a huge story today.
- 8:20Speaker 1: But for her to say, I don't want to marry him,
- 8:22Speaker 1: for her to pull out, it would have embarrassed the
- 8:24Speaker 1: royal family. Now, we have to agree here that Diana's father,
- 8:28Speaker 1: Earl Spencer, was very much part of the establishment. In fact,
- 8:32Speaker 1: some people argue the Spencers have more royal blood in
- 8:35Speaker 1: them than the actual royal family. So if you follow
- 8:38Speaker 1: their family trees back in history... The Spencers are fancy.
- 8:42Speaker 1: They are not commoners. They are not you and me.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Kate Middleton is a regular person. She did not. She
- 8:49Speaker 1: did not have a title. Diana did. She was Lady
- 8:52Speaker 1: Diana before she even met the prince. And so they
- 8:56Speaker 1: are aristocracy. They come from a very, very fancy family.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So I do see her dad being very wary of this.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I think her dad would think about stuff like that.
- 9:06Speaker 1: If Diana was having cold feet, if she thought this
- 9:10Speaker 1: might not be a great marriage, and she went to
- 9:12Speaker 1: her dad. I can totally see her dad encouraging her
- 9:15Speaker 1: to get married. He also says that Diana told him
- 9:19Speaker 1: that Prince Charles had criticised her weight shortly after their engagement,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and the remark she found devastating. Also, too, the palace
- 9:29Speaker 1: replaced her long-time family doctor with the royal physician, who
- 9:34Speaker 1: she didn't know, wasn't that happy about it. This happens.
- 9:37Speaker 1: The royal family have their own medical team and they
- 9:41Speaker 1: want the family to use that team it's difficult changing
- 9:44Speaker 1: doctors isn't it it's a trust thing too you have
- 9:47Speaker 1: to get to know know know the person looking after
- 9:49Speaker 1: you when my doctor retired Dan I found a brilliant
- 9:53Speaker 1: brilliant brilliant brilliant new doctor if you're listening hello hello
- 9:56Speaker 1: hello hello Amber she runs the office she always gets
- 9:59Speaker 1: me in But I found Dr. Nolan through a referral.
- 10:04Speaker 1: And at first, I was a little, like, weird. I
- 10:06Speaker 1: didn't know him. It's so personal. It's so intimate. So
- 10:09Speaker 1: I understand why Diana was wary to leave her family
- 10:12Speaker 1: doctor and have the royal physician. Also, too, I think
- 10:15Speaker 1: this has been well-documented. Her struggles with mental health and
- 10:18Speaker 1: weight in particular, bulimia, let's name it, bulimia, she would
- 10:22Speaker 1: name it. That has been something that is well documented.
- 10:26Speaker 1: And they said, having somebody criticize your weight, it's never nice.
- 10:30Speaker 1: It's never nice. But for somebody who is suffering with bulimia,
- 10:34Speaker 1: it can be devastating. Also, too, Charles Spencer recounts Diana
- 10:39Speaker 1: telling him she was getting divorced and then made an
- 10:42Speaker 1: extraordinary claim, an extraordinary claim. She said, quote, my husband
- 10:49Speaker 1: is in love with his valet. Now, Spencer, Charles Spencer,
- 10:53Speaker 1: stresses that Diana never identified the member of staff and
- 10:57Speaker 1: he never investigated what she actually believed. This story is
- 11:02Speaker 1: really annoying the palace. 30 years ago, there were some
- 11:06Speaker 1: gay rumours around Prince Charles and the palace were not
- 11:11Speaker 1: Happy about it. Obviously now, 30 years later, the society
- 11:15Speaker 1: we live in, the world we live in, our views
- 11:17Speaker 1: have changed towards gay people. Now gay people can get married.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Now gay people are not treated as if they have
- 11:23Speaker 1: a mental illness. Now it's part of life, thank goodness.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Back then it wasn't. I grew up in the 80s
- 11:29Speaker 1: in Britain. Being gay back then was really, really rough.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So a rumour. It still is. I've got to tip
- 11:34Speaker 1: my hat. Much better, but we've still got a long
- 11:36Speaker 1: way to go. I've got to tip my hat here.
- 11:40Speaker 1: that Charles was very, very close with a member of
- 11:43Speaker 1: his staff who happened to be a man. There is
- 11:46Speaker 1: no evidence that there was a romantic relationship. But this
- 11:51Speaker 1: is something that was whispered about 30 years ago. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: what Charles Spencer has done is brought it back up.
- 11:59Speaker 1: He's picked the scab. He's opened up this old wound.
- 12:03Speaker 1: And now people are talking about it again. Similar to that,
- 12:08Speaker 1: in America at the moment, of all things, the Hollywood Reporter,
- 12:11Speaker 1: a really serious trade publication, is talking about a rumour
- 12:15Speaker 1: about Richard Gere and a gerbil. You might have heard
- 12:18Speaker 1: this rumour. But 30 years ago, everybody was gossiping about this.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And it was nonsense. But they brought it back up.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And now everybody in my little media circle, in my
- 12:28Speaker 1: little celebrity circle, are all talking about that. This is
- 12:31Speaker 1: what's happened because of Charles Spencer with the King. He
- 12:35Speaker 1: has brought up. Many, many years ago, Diana claimed that
- 12:39Speaker 1: her husband was in love with his valet. Think of
- 12:42Speaker 1: Downton Abbey. If you've ever seen Downton Abbey, you know
- 12:45Speaker 1: what a valet does. They dress the person. They're their
- 12:49Speaker 1: right-hand man, woman. They are around them. And it's pretty intimate.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's sexual. I'm not saying it's romantic.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But it's an intimate relationship. I have an intimate, not
- 12:59Speaker 1: sexual relationship with my doctor. They know me. They've seen
- 13:03Speaker 1: me without my clothes on. And that is true, too,
- 13:07Speaker 1: of a dresser, of a valet. Charles had a very,
- 13:11Speaker 1: very close relationship. He didn't have many people in his life.
- 13:15Speaker 1: His mum was distant. His dad was distant. He was
- 13:19Speaker 1: at a boarding school. He didn't make many friends. And
- 13:22Speaker 1: then he had somebody that worked with him who became
- 13:25Speaker 1: a confidant. I've had this happen. When I was really
- 13:28Speaker 1: lonely once in Edinburgh, when I moved to Edinburgh, I'd
- 13:31Speaker 1: just started university there. I was still making friends. A
- 13:34Speaker 1: I became friendly with a hairdresser and I used to
- 13:36Speaker 1: go and get my hair cut every couple of months
- 13:38Speaker 1: and I'd tell him everything. Are you close with your hairdresser?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Maybe a doctor, maybe a neighbour. That's what I'm told
- 13:45Speaker 1: was going on here. There is no evidence that Charles
- 13:47Speaker 1: is bisexual, that he had an affair with a man,
- 13:50Speaker 1: but you can be deeply in love with somebody who's
- 13:54Speaker 1: the same sex as you. You can be deeply in love.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I'm deeply in love with Delaina Dixon. There's nothing romantic.
- 14:01Speaker 1: There's nothing sexual. It's better than that. We're best friends.
- 14:05Speaker 1: And so you can do this. Is there somebody in
- 14:07Speaker 1: your life who you are deeply, deeply in love with?
- 14:10Speaker 1: Not sexually, but are best friends. That's what I'm told
- 14:13Speaker 1: the valet was. Charles Spencer knows what he's doing here.
- 14:17Speaker 1: He's no fool. He knows of all the stories in
- 14:20Speaker 1: this book. The one that's going to upset the palace
- 14:23Speaker 1: the most are not the stories about Diana. They're the
- 14:26Speaker 1: stories about him. And that is a criticism that's really
- 14:29Speaker 1: bubbling up in Britain today. People are starting to doubt
- 14:32Speaker 1: Charles Spencer. They never really liked him. They always thought
- 14:35Speaker 1: he was quite a cad. Married four times. Lots of children.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Never really had a proper job. And so now you're
- 14:43Speaker 1: going to see a backlash to Charles Spencer. This is
- 14:48Speaker 1: what happens when somebody has a book out. When somebody
- 14:51Speaker 1: says something that you don't like, you attack them first.
- 14:54Speaker 1: We've seen that a lot in politics, haven't we? Particularly
- 14:56Speaker 1: in the USA. If somebody says something about you you
- 14:59Speaker 1: don't like, even if it's true, you go after them.
- 15:02Speaker 1: You go after the organisation. You go after the institution.
- 15:05Speaker 1: That's what's happening here. The palace are really pushing back,
- 15:08Speaker 1: particularly about the gay rumour, the rumour with his valet,
- 15:11Speaker 1: which leads us to our poll question of the day.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Diana's brother, Charles Spencer. Tricky, isn't it? Two Charleses in
- 15:18Speaker 1: this story, but I think we've got it. Charles Spencer
- 15:21Speaker 1: claims that King Charles was, quote, Giddy elated. Giddy elated
- 15:28Speaker 1: when Diana died. Do you think that's true? Do you
- 15:31Speaker 1: think he was giddy? You've seen the footage? Yes, no.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Go vote on our X page, our Twitter page, at
- 15:36Speaker 1: Naughty Nice Rob. Our Facebook page is Naughty Gossip. And
- 15:40Speaker 1: be sure to check back tomorrow to hear your results.
- 15:44Speaker 1: And we're going to take a quick break here and
- 15:47Speaker 1: we'll be right back. Welcome back to the Naughty But
- 15:52Speaker 1: Nice Show. An explosive day. of Royal News here in Britain.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I'm so lucky to be here, not just with my
- 15:58Speaker 1: wonderful family, my mum, my sister Christine, her daughter Paris,
- 16:01Speaker 1: and her great husband Paul, but also too, it is
- 16:04Speaker 1: a really, really exciting week to be in Britain. As
- 16:08Speaker 1: this news breaks, I'm literally on the ground. You know,
- 16:11Speaker 1: I text my sources, I call my sources, I email
- 16:14Speaker 1: my sources. Nothing, nothing is like having a face-to-face, is it?
- 16:19Speaker 1: That's the same with every job. It doesn't have to
- 16:21Speaker 1: be celebrity gossip or news. When you see your boss,
- 16:24Speaker 1: when you see your co-workers, there is a difference. I'm
- 16:28Speaker 1: not saying that everybody needs to work in an office.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I love working at home, but I do try to,
- 16:34Speaker 1: at least two or three times a week, get face-to-face
- 16:38Speaker 1: time because it makes a difference. So everybody that has
- 16:41Speaker 1: let me have coffee with them or meet up with
- 16:43Speaker 1: them this week in Britain, thank you very much. I'm
- 16:45Speaker 1: not going to name you because... That would not be
- 16:47Speaker 1: good for you. But thank you very much. OK, let's
- 16:50Speaker 1: get to the polls. Last show we talked about. King
- 16:54Speaker 1: Charles is hitting back at Charles Spencer's explosive claims about
- 16:59Speaker 1: Princess Diana in his new book. Are you surprised that
- 17:03Speaker 1: the palace is responding? There's this attitude within the palace
- 17:06Speaker 1: to keep calm and carry on. Don't respond. Well, they
- 17:09Speaker 1: are responding to this. Are you surprised? 50% said yes. 50%
- 17:14Speaker 1: said no. It's a new palace. It's a new regime. Hey,
- 17:17Speaker 1: don't forget to vote on today's poll. Go to our
- 17:20Speaker 1: X page, our Twitter page, our Naughty Nice Rob, or
- 17:23Speaker 1: our Facebook page, which is Naughty Gossip. And be sure
- 17:26Speaker 1: to check back on Monday. I'll be back in New
- 17:28Speaker 1: York on Monday, so we'll have great mics again. Thank
- 17:31Speaker 1: you for putting up with the little bit of the
- 17:33Speaker 1: dodgy mic situation here. My mum's wonderful. Our house is wonderful.
- 17:36Speaker 1: But she doesn't exactly have it set up for podcasting,
- 17:40Speaker 1: for recording. which is totally, totally fine. So check back
- 17:44Speaker 1: on Monday to hear your results. And now it's time
- 17:48Speaker 1: for our nicest of the day. Our nicest of the
- 17:51Speaker 1: day is congratulations, Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bon Jovi.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I always want to say John Bon Jovi, Jake Bon Jovi.
- 17:58Speaker 1: They've welcomed their second child. Millie and her husband, Jake,
- 18:02Speaker 1: have welcomed their second child, expanding their young family once again.
- 18:07Speaker 1: The Stranger Things star, who's just 22... And Jake, who
- 18:11Speaker 1: is 24, welcomed their newest little one through adoption. The
- 18:16Speaker 1: couple already are parents to a baby girl whom they
- 18:19Speaker 1: have largely kept out of the spotlight. The two of
- 18:23Speaker 1: them were married in 2024 and their rumours, the news
- 18:28Speaker 1: of their romance sparked in 2021. Now, just five years later,
- 18:33Speaker 1: they are officially a family of four. I used to
- 18:36Speaker 1: work for Jon Bon Jovi. One of my earliest jobs
- 18:38Speaker 1: here was I was a publicist. for the rock group,
- 18:40Speaker 1: for John. I tour around America with them. Really good,
- 18:44Speaker 1: really decent people. Congratulations. And now it's time for our
- 18:48Speaker 1: naughtiest of the day. Naughty, naughty, naughty. Another parenting story,
- 18:51Speaker 1: but not a good one here. Taylor Frankie Paul, who
- 18:53Speaker 1: you might know from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,
- 18:56Speaker 1: or really you might know her as the bachelorette who
- 18:58Speaker 1: got cancelled. Remember, she was going to be the new bachelorette.
- 19:01Speaker 1: ABC had spent a lot of money promoting her, and
- 19:04Speaker 1: then they had to pull that show. It still has
- 19:06Speaker 1: not aired. Well, now... Apparently, her parenting time has been
- 19:10Speaker 1: cut because of a reported failed drug test. TMZ are
