- 0:15Speaker 1: Namaste, New York City. The light in me sees the
- 0:21Speaker 1: light in all of you. I am your host, Yogini Jema.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And this begins OM's Peace Starts Within. OM is an
- 0:34Speaker 1: invitation to.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Remember who you are.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And in that remembering, to recognize the interconnectedness of all things. Today,
- 0:47Speaker 1: as we honor the United Nations International Day of Peace,
- 0:51Speaker 1: we gather around one of humanity's greatest possibilities, peace, peace
- 0:58Speaker 1: within ourselves, between people, within our communities, and peace with
- 1:05Speaker 1: Mother Earth. As leaders from around the world gather here
- 1:09Speaker 1: in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, conversations
- 1:14Speaker 1: will take place about our shared future. And here in
- 1:18Speaker 1: Times Square, Om brings another question into that global conversation.
- 1:24Speaker 1: What is the consciousness from which we create that future?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Because behind every decision that shapes our world, there is
- 1:33Speaker 1: a human being. And the world we create together is
- 1:36Speaker 1: inseparable from the state from which we meet it. This
- 1:41Speaker 1: is why our message today is simple. Peace starts within.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And over the next two and a half hours, we
- 1:49Speaker 1: are going to explore what that truly means through ancient
- 1:54Speaker 1: wisdom and modern science, through voices working within our global
- 1:59Speaker 1: institutions and organizations creating new ways for us to gather
- 2:04Speaker 1: across the world in greater connection and shared intention. We
- 2:09Speaker 1: will experience the power of art and creativity and be
- 2:15Speaker 1: inspired by places consciously choosing peace as a way forward.
- 2:21Speaker 1: And we'll discover how even the way we play can
- 2:25Speaker 1: be in greater harmony with Mother Earth and throughout it all, music.
- 2:32Speaker 1: At OM, we honor the extraordinary power of music to
- 2:37Speaker 1: bring us together, to move us beyond words and into
- 2:42Speaker 1: a shared experience. because today we don't simply want to
- 2:46Speaker 1: talk about peace.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We're here to experience it.
- 2:51Speaker 1: At the heart of OM is a growing collective we
- 2:54Speaker 1: call OM-bassadors, people from many different walks of life who
- 2:59Speaker 1: have said yes to this invitation to remember and who
- 3:02Speaker 1: are bringing that remembrance into the way they live and
- 3:05Speaker 1: the work that they offer to the world.
- 3:08Speaker 2: The remarkable human.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Beings you will meet today on this stage are part
- 3:13Speaker 1: of this growing community, each bringing their own unique expression
- 3:18Speaker 1: of how we can live, create, embody.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Peace in the world.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And in each of them is a reminder that every
- 3:28Speaker 1: one of us has a part to play. Peace can
- 3:31Speaker 1: be expressed in so many different ways. And when those
- 3:35Speaker 1: individual expressions come together peace becomes collective. Imagine the world
- 3:43Speaker 1: we can create when peace is the consciousness from which
- 3:47Speaker 1: we meet one another, make our choices, and shape our future.
- 3:53Speaker 1: That is where peace starts within, becomes something greater than ourselves.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And so here, in Times Square, let us begin by
- 4:04Speaker 1: experiencing it right here, And now, I invite all of you,
- 4:12Speaker 1: wherever you are, to come into stillness. Whether you're standing
- 4:19Speaker 1: or whether you're sitting, let the body settle into stillness.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And for just two minutes, gently close the eyes. For
- 4:37Speaker 1: a moment, for a moment, just take in all the
- 4:42Speaker 1: sounds of the environment, the horns, the voices, the music,
- 4:52Speaker 1: the chatter, the movement. Spend a moment and just become
- 4:58Speaker 1: familiar with each sound. And now bring your awareness to
- 5:08Speaker 1: the whole body. Try to see within the mind the
- 5:15Speaker 1: whole body. In one glimpse, in one flash, try and
- 5:21Speaker 1: see the whole body within the mind. And now bring
- 5:30Speaker 1: your awareness to the natural breath. go deep, deep inside
- 5:38Speaker 1: of yourself as you follow the natural breath. As you inhale,
- 5:47Speaker 1: feel the natural expansion of the body. As you exhale,
- 5:55Speaker 1: feel the contraction and release. Inhaling, the body expands Exhaling,
- 6:09Speaker 1: the body releases and relaxes. Feel this natural expansion and
- 6:20Speaker 1: relaxation with every breath. And now become aware of this
- 6:35Speaker 1: shift into relaxation within the body. Feel the heartbeat.
- 6:44Speaker 2: It is slower. Feel the breath. It is deeper. Become
- 6:55Speaker 2: aware of the mind.
- 6:56Speaker 1: It is more still. Feel the state of calm and
- 7:05Speaker 1: peace within. Even here, in the middle of all of
- 7:13Speaker 1: this movement and all of this noise, we just met
- 7:19Speaker 1: together at a place of peace within. And if we
- 7:26Speaker 1: can do this here, we can do it anywhere. Gently
- 7:35Speaker 1: open the eyes. And from this place of peace, I
- 7:43Speaker 1: invite all of us to receive the wisdom of the
- 7:47Speaker 1: old ways. It is my honor to welcome spiritual leader
- 7:54Speaker 1: and wisdom keeper, Lex St. Onge, who is here to
- 7:59Speaker 1: bless this gathering with a prayer and song of peace.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Say now.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Okay, so put that up here.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Hello, everybody.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Can you hear me?
- 9:31Speaker 6: Yes, we're good.
- 9:33Speaker 3: As a spiritual leader in a native tribe... Can you
- 9:46Speaker 3: hear me?
- 9:48Speaker 1: No.
- 9:48Speaker 7: Check, check, check, check, check, check.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Check, check, check, check, check, check.
- 9:58Speaker 8: Let me look.
- 10:01Speaker 9: What's that?
- 10:03Speaker 3: One, two, one, two, one, two.
- 10:11Speaker 10: Hello?
- 10:11Speaker 11: There it goes.
- 10:12Speaker 3: All right, we got it. We got it, we're good.
- 10:16Speaker 12: So.
- 10:18Speaker 3: When we're speaking to crowds from a Native American aspect, yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 3: get that one out of there, I guess.
- 10:26Speaker 14: Okay.
- 10:28Speaker 3: We talk about our life way and how we push
- 10:31Speaker 3: through the world in body. Our bodies show the eyes, ears, nose, hands,
- 10:37Speaker 3: feet of our grandmothers and grandfathers before us. They were
- 10:41Speaker 3: successful people or you wouldn't be here right now. I'd
- 10:45Speaker 3: be talking to somebody else. So I honor you, each
- 10:49Speaker 3: and every one individually. I honor your ancestors for being
- 10:53Speaker 3: powerful enough to get you here all this way. And
- 10:56Speaker 3: if you're ever feeling lonely or down, look in the
- 11:00Speaker 3: mirror at your face, because it's really not yours. It's
- 11:02Speaker 3: a composite of all those who came before you, those
- 11:06Speaker 3: grandmothers and grandfathers that pushed through time that allowed you
- 11:09Speaker 3: to be here. Take your strength from knowing that they
- 11:13Speaker 3: ran from dire wolf, packs, saber tooth tigers, elephants everything
- 11:18Speaker 3: they had to do to get their children safe through
- 11:23Speaker 3: the long nights of winter food for the year healthy
- 11:27Speaker 3: protected from other people that may have done them harm
- 11:32Speaker 3: every one of you is an amazing success story amazing
- 11:38Speaker 3: so when i look at each of you or i
- 11:39Speaker 3: meet you on the street or i see you i
- 11:42Speaker 3: see all those ancestors behind you and they all tell
- 11:46Speaker 3: me the same thing Remind them who they are, how
- 11:50Speaker 3: powerful they are, and how we're with them always. As
- 11:55Speaker 3: a scientist, sometimes I'll swab someone's cheek and send their
- 11:59Speaker 3: DNA away because the smallest piece of them has the
- 12:03Speaker 3: maps of all the places their ancestors have ever been.
- 12:07Speaker 3: And you're made up of billions of these maps. So
- 12:11Speaker 3: how powerful are you? I don't like weakness. I don't
- 12:15Speaker 3: like people saying, oh, feel sorry for me. I'm sad
- 12:19Speaker 3: on this and that. You're so lucky to be in
- 12:21Speaker 3: body and you only are here for such a small
- 12:25Speaker 3: amount of time. So represent those grandmothers and grandfathers faces
- 12:30Speaker 3: that you see in the mirror. I love you all.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I love New York. This is amazing. I come from
- 12:37Speaker 3: the forest. I haven't been here since 1988. I've been
- 12:41Speaker 3: in the forest since then. So it's a different kind
- 12:45Speaker 3: of forest. And there's a different kind of animal people here.
- 12:49Speaker 3: But I feel you. I feel every one of you.
- 12:53Speaker 3: What we breathe out is carbon dioxide. That's what the
- 12:56Speaker 3: plants and forests breathe in. What they breathe out is oxygen.
- 13:00Speaker 3: That's what we breathe in. Without us, the forest dies.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Without the forest, we die. So how connected are we
- 13:07Speaker 3: to this world? I'm going to share with you a
- 13:11Speaker 3: musical instrument I made 30 years ago called a wandsauce.
- 13:15Speaker 3: It's made out of an elderberry tree, and it just
- 13:18Speaker 3: has some designs on it that made me happy. I've
- 13:22Speaker 3: used it forever, and a lot of the elders that
- 13:25Speaker 3: I played with at Shrine Science are gone, but I'm here,
- 13:29Speaker 3: and they told me, take it to the people. I'm
- 13:32Speaker 3: going to play an old instrument, very old, and I'm
- 13:35Speaker 3: going to sing a couple very old songs. So thank
- 13:38Speaker 3: you for being here with me and passing through time together.
- 14:17Speaker 9: Ayahna, ayahna, halanaha, amimano te heyo e, amimemo te heyo e, ayahna, ayahna, halanaha,
- 14:40Speaker 9: amimano te heyo e, Amimemote he yo'e. Ayahna, ayahna halanaha.
- 14:58Speaker 8: Amimanote he yo'e. Amimemote he yo'e. Ayahna, ayahna, lanaha, amimano
- 15:16Speaker 8: te heyo e, amimemo te heyo e, ayahna, ayahna, lanaha, e.
- 15:37Speaker 3: The next song I'm going to sing you is, there
- 15:39Speaker 3: was a woman who lived on San Nicolas Island and
- 15:43Speaker 3: she was the last one of her people. They call
- 15:46Speaker 3: her the lone woman of San Nicolas Island. She was
- 15:49Speaker 3: picked up by Spain and brought to the mainland and
- 15:54Speaker 3: she had an island fox pet and they left her
- 15:58Speaker 3: pet on the island and they took her and the
- 16:01Speaker 3: food wasn't very good and she died. While she was
- 16:06Speaker 3: alive and on the trip over, she spoke to an
- 16:08Speaker 3: old man named Kitsa Powet. And she sang a song
- 16:12Speaker 3: to him. And this is her song.
- 16:18Speaker 6: Toki, toki, ya hame mana. Toki, toki. Toki, toki, ya
- 16:29Speaker 6: hame mana. Toki, toki, ya hame mana.
- 16:35Speaker 15: Welechima. Welechima. Welechima.
- 16:48Speaker 6: Toki, toki, aha, mimena. Toki, toki, aha, mimena.
- 16:57Speaker 15: Welechima.
- 17:01Speaker 8: Welechima.
- 17:24Speaker 3: This is all about Peace Day, and I have a
- 17:26Speaker 3: daughter in the Navy. And I love her very much, Annabella.
- 17:32Speaker 3: And she's out there keeping us safe. She was stationed
- 17:36Speaker 3: in the Middle East for a while. And there's a
- 17:40Speaker 3: song that I always think about when I think about
- 17:43Speaker 3: her being away.
- 17:46Speaker 5: And it.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Goes, let's see. I'll be home for Christmas if only
- 17:58Speaker 3: in my dreams.
- 18:01Speaker 16: I love you, Annabella.
- 18:03Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Thank you, everybody.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Thank you, Rex, for that beautiful offering. And now it
- 18:56Speaker 1: is my honor to introduce you to the Earth Elders,
- 19:02Speaker 1: an indigenous-led council from all continents who have united due
- 19:07Speaker 1: to shared.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Prophecies in these times of turning.
- 19:12Speaker 1: They are calling us to unite and showing us there
- 19:16Speaker 1: is another way. Their forthcoming film, Earth Elders, brings that
- 19:22Speaker 1: message to life following the elders from their ancestral territories.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Across the world to global gatherings.
- 19:31Speaker 1: The film brings their knowledge and leadership into conversation with governments, institutions,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and humanity at large. It is a story of remembrance, guardianship,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and a growing movement to protect the earth for generations
- 19:51Speaker 1: to come.
- 19:51Speaker 17: It was about 13,500 years ago when there was greater
- 20:02Speaker 17: biological and cultural diversity. When we all lived in harmony.
- 20:11Speaker 17: But some brothers and sisters started to deviate from the path.
- 20:13Speaker 17: And instead of taking care of life, they started to
- 20:17Speaker 17: take life. And now we are in a chaotic world.
- 20:24Speaker 17: This time that we are living in is very important.
- 20:30Speaker 17: There is a fundamental principle for humans. And that is
- 20:35Speaker 17: the principle of love.
- 20:39Speaker 18: What drives me to continue the work that I am doing,
- 20:46Speaker 18: mainly the defense of water.
- 20:48Speaker 14: Now with the extractive minerals, all this is being contaminated.
- 21:02Speaker 10: One of the great forgetting that I often encounter is
- 21:07Speaker 10: the great forgetting of.
- 21:09Speaker 16: The grandmother continent, which is the continent of Africa.
- 21:13Speaker 10: And it is the forgetting that that is the continent
- 21:17Speaker 10: where we all come from.
- 21:17Speaker 19: Everything we are going through has already been given this
- 21:25Speaker 19: vision in medicine. But we also have the vision that
- 21:29Speaker 19: we are going to overcome this struggle.
- 21:33Speaker 14: The eagle and condor, from my tradition, this prophecy, speaks
- 21:44Speaker 14: to the age that we're living in now, which is
- 21:46Speaker 14: the age of unification. Up until now, for many thousands
- 21:50Speaker 14: of years, we have been living in an age of separation,
- 21:53Speaker 14: which initially was something positive to cultivate diversity. This age
- 22:00Speaker 14: of separation was prophesied to end. At the end of
- 22:04Speaker 14: this age of separation, conflict would come, the age of
- 22:07Speaker 14: unity and unification, where all opposites will come together and
- 22:12Speaker 14: merge as one.
- 22:15Speaker 17: We are in a key moment, and in this key moment,
- 22:18Speaker 17: the world is watching us. It is already being recognized
- 22:24Speaker 17: that the peoples and the nations of origin We have
- 22:28Speaker 17: that wisdom to bring harmony, peace and collective dignity to
- 22:34Speaker 17: the peoples. Brothers and sisters, we are back. They are
- 22:37Speaker 17: listening to us.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Look out for the release of earth elders later this year.
- 23:01Speaker 1: There is something powerful in the wisdom that has endured
- 23:06Speaker 1: through generations held by those who have continued to remember.
- 23:12Speaker 1: And perhaps one of the greatest opportunities before us is
- 23:15Speaker 1: to ensure that that wisdom is not only honored but
- 23:19Speaker 1: carried forward. Bringing that possibility into the work of our
- 23:24Speaker 1: world is Rebecca Irby, an educator, peace builder, and co-founder
- 23:31Speaker 1: and president of the PEAK Institute, a global organization with
- 23:37Speaker 1: United Nations consultative status. She was also part of the
- 23:42Speaker 1: 2017 ICAN team, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Today, Her
- 23:49Speaker 1: work continues within the UN global community, including through the
- 23:54Speaker 1: new co-NGO, formerly known as Congo, where one of the
- 23:59Speaker 1: areas she is helping to advance is the integration of
- 24:03Speaker 1: indigenous knowledge and wisdom.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Into how we educate and prepare future generations.
- 24:10Speaker 1: As the United Nations General Assembly brings world leaders together
- 24:15Speaker 1: here in New York, Rebecca reminds us that the rooms
- 24:19Speaker 1: where policy is shaped matter, and so do spaces like
- 24:25Speaker 1: this one.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Please welcome Rebecca Irby.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 24:51Speaker 20: Good evening, New York. Look around. Really look around. We're standing, sitting,
- 25:00Speaker 20: being in one of the loudest places on earth. So
- 25:05Speaker 20: before we talk about peace out there, I want to
- 25:08Speaker 20: begin right here with us for a moment.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Let's be still. Feel your feet.
- 25:17Speaker 20: Your hands on the ground beneath you. Let's take a
- 25:22Speaker 20: breath together. Breathe in slowly through your mouth, through your nose. Inhale.
- 25:30Speaker 20: Hold for just a moment. And now exhale slowly throughout
- 25:36Speaker 20: your breath. Let's do it once more. Breathe in.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Hold.
- 25:44Speaker 20: This time, let it out with a sigh. Listen. And
- 25:56Speaker 20: this time, understand in this space where it is the
- 26:01Speaker 20: loudest place on earth, we just breathe together. And maybe
- 26:06Speaker 20: peace begins like this, with breath within us. But it
- 26:12Speaker 20: can't end there, because peace is also community. Peace becomes
- 26:17Speaker 20: real between us. And peace becomes powerful when we learn
- 26:23Speaker 20: how to move together. Just across the city, world leaders
- 26:27Speaker 20: are gathering at the United Nations. The United Nations itself
- 26:32Speaker 20: is changing. Our institutions are changing. And in many ways,
- 26:37Speaker 20: the world we have known is shifting beneath our feet.
- 26:41Speaker 20: And that can frighten us, or it can invite us.
- 26:45Speaker 20: Invite us to ask, what do we want to build now?
- 26:49Speaker 20: And maybe even more importantly, How do we learn to
- 26:54Speaker 20: move together? The first words of the United Nations Charter
- 26:59Speaker 20: are not we the governments. They are not we the privileged.
- 27:04Speaker 20: They are we the peoples. That means us. That means you.
- 27:12Speaker 20: And us has to mean.
- 27:15Speaker 2: All of us.
- 27:17Speaker 20: For someone living through war tonight, Peace may simply mean
- 27:21Speaker 20: knowing their family will be safe tomorrow. For someone whose
- 27:25Speaker 20: community has always been brought in after decisions are made,
- 27:31Speaker 20: peace means having a voice while the future is still
- 27:35Speaker 20: being decided. Because communities are not footnotes. Young people are
- 27:40Speaker 20: not simply the leaders of some distant future. And the
- 27:44Speaker 20: people closest to challenges are not.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Problems to be solved. They are the knowledge holders.
- 27:53Speaker 20: They are creators. They are builders of solutions. That, too,
- 27:57Speaker 20: is peace. Years ago, speaking at the United Nations about
- 28:01Speaker 20: nuclear weapons, I talked about systems as trees. We keep
- 28:06Speaker 20: cutting off branches, war, racism, poverty, violence, environmental destruction. But
- 28:13Speaker 20: if we never deal with the roots that keep producing
- 28:16Speaker 20: those branches, Another one simply grows back. But tonight, I
- 28:21Speaker 20: want to turn that image around because if destructive systems
- 28:25Speaker 20: have roots, peace has seeds. Seeds of dignity, justice, belonging, listening, love, joy.
- 28:34Speaker 20: Those seeds already exist, and our job is to make
- 28:38Speaker 20: room for them, to plant them, to protect them, to
- 28:42Speaker 20: nourish them, and to help them take root. This year's
- 28:46Speaker 20: International Day of Peace calls us to invest in peace
- 28:50Speaker 20: for everyone, everywhere, every day. And I keep thinking about
- 28:55Speaker 20: that word, invest. What if we invest in peace with
- 28:59Speaker 20: the same intentions we invest in economies, institutions, and technologies?
- 29:04Speaker 20: What if we invest our intentions, our attention, our courage,
- 29:08Speaker 20: our creativity, our relationships, our joy? What if we insist
- 29:15Speaker 20: and invest in our ability to listen before we decide
- 29:20Speaker 20: to see another human, not as a problem to be solved,
- 29:25Speaker 20: but as someone who carries the wisdom we so desperately need.
- 29:31Speaker 20: Because investing in peace is not something reserved for diplomats.
- 29:36Speaker 20: We invest in peace every time we make room for
- 29:39Speaker 20: someone to be heard every time we choose curiosity over
- 29:44Speaker 20: fear every time we gather around love and joy and
- 29:48Speaker 20: remember we belong to one another and sometimes peace is
- 29:55Speaker 20: choosing hope when everything and everyone around us tells us
- 30:00Speaker 20: not to. I have spent much of my life around
- 30:04Speaker 20: people who were told, that will never happen. You're so naive.
- 30:10Speaker 20: That's way too idealistic. Systems will never change. But again
- 30:17Speaker 20: and again, I have watched people find one another, organize,
- 30:21Speaker 20: imagine something different, and move. what everyone believed and thought
- 30:28Speaker 20: could not be moved. So I've learned something and I
- 30:32Speaker 20: share this with you with conviction. There is no one
- 30:37Speaker 20: coming to save us. There is no one coming to
- 30:42Speaker 20: save us. And I say that with tremendous hope because
- 30:49Speaker 20: we were never supposed to outsource our humanity.
- 30:53Speaker 2: The power is already here.
- 30:55Speaker 20: It is in people, it is in communities, in artists,
- 30:59Speaker 20: in young people, in elders, in every person who decides
- 31:03Speaker 20: that someone else's dignity matters.
- 31:06Speaker 2: As much as their own.
- 31:08Speaker 20: And right here, right now, tonight, that is the power
- 31:13Speaker 20: of we. So the question is not, who is gonna
- 31:17Speaker 20: fix the world? The question is, What will we build
- 31:22Speaker 20: together that none of us could have built alone? And
- 31:27Speaker 20: that is why, tonight, I love that we are answering
- 31:32Speaker 20: this question with music. Because before we share language, we
- 31:36Speaker 20: can share rhythm. Before we agree on anything, we can resonate.
- 31:43Speaker 20: Sound moves through all of us. And when different notes
- 31:47Speaker 20: come together, they don't lose what makes them distinct.
- 31:51Speaker 2: They create something that.
- 31:53Speaker 20: No one could create alone, harmony. And maybe that, that
- 31:59Speaker 20: is peace too. So tonight, let this music be more
- 32:03Speaker 20: than entertainment. Let it be a rehearsal, a rehearsal for listening, connecting, belonging,
- 32:10Speaker 20: for learning how to move together, a rehearsal for the
- 32:14Speaker 20: world we are trying to build. Let Times Square Feel
- 32:19Speaker 20: something tonight. And if you believe this, say these words
- 32:26Speaker 20: with me. We are still here. We are still here.
- 32:34Speaker 20: We are still here. We are still imagining. We are
- 32:39Speaker 20: still choosing one another. We are building. And we are
- 32:43Speaker 20: not waiting for peace to arrive. We are practicing it,
- 32:47Speaker 20: we are investing in it, right here, right now, with
- 32:50Speaker 20: one another. Peace starts within, and the future, the future
- 32:57Speaker 20: belongs to we. Welcome, everybody, let's make some noise!
- 33:03Speaker 7: Woo!
- 33:14Speaker 2: Thank you, Rebecca.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Imagine what becomes possible when the peace.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Imagine what becomes possible when the peace we cultivate within
- 33:40Speaker 1: becomes part of how we show up in the world,
- 33:43Speaker 1: when our spiritual life and our working life are no
- 33:48Speaker 1: longer separate, but begin to inform one another. Alyssa Herman
- 33:54Speaker 1: has spent much of her life walking between these worlds.
- 33:58Speaker 1: She has served as managing director, COO, and executive vice
- 34:03Speaker 1: president at some of Wall Street's leading financial institutions, including
- 34:08Speaker 1: Goldman Sachs, Citibank, and Bank of America, while devoting an
- 34:14Speaker 1: equally important part of her life to personal transformation. Today,
- 34:20Speaker 1: her work sits at the intersection of human potential and
- 34:24Speaker 1: artificial intelligence, exploring how we harness the possibilities of AI
- 34:31Speaker 1: while bringing greater consciousness and humanity into the future of leadership.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Because as technologies become increasingly capable, what we cultivate in
- 34:44Speaker 1: the human being using it becomes more important, not less.
- 34:50Speaker 1: And Alyssa brings from that very modern frontier into one of.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Our most ancient practices, mantra. In the yogic tradition, mantra
- 35:02Speaker 2: is an ancient science of sound.
- 35:05Speaker 1: The sounds of Sanskrit have long been understood to carry
- 35:09Speaker 1: particular vibration and correspond with energetic centers within the body.
- 35:16Speaker 1: As Alyssa shares mantras of peace, protection, and trust, I
- 35:21Speaker 1: invite you to all simply receive the sound. Notice where
- 35:25Speaker 1: you feel it, what shifts within the body, breath, and mind.
- 35:31Speaker 1: You don't need to understand the words. Simply allow the
- 35:35Speaker 1: mantra to become an experience. Please welcome Alyssa Herman.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Hello, everybody.
- 35:46Speaker 21: Happy International Day of Peace. And happy birthday, Joel Kretz.
- 35:55Speaker 21: Thank you for all of your support and work to
- 35:58Speaker 21: make today possible with Michelle and Maria and Om. So
- 36:03Speaker 21: grateful to be here with all of you. What a
- 36:08Speaker 21: moment this is to be standing here in the heart
- 36:12Speaker 21: of Times Square with each and every one of you,
- 36:17Speaker 21: and feeling like we're surrounded by so much positive energy.
- 36:21Speaker 17: You feel it?
- 36:24Speaker 2: You feel it? I do too. This is just blissful.
- 36:27Speaker 21: And, you know, we're celebrating something that each and every
- 36:33Speaker 21: one of us has the power to create, and that
- 36:38Speaker 21: is peace. And we all know that it's a choice.
- 36:43Speaker 21: We can make it every single moment of every single day.
- 36:48Speaker 21: My name is Alyssa Herman, and for the last 30 years,
- 36:53Speaker 21: I have been an executive change maker on Wall Street,
- 36:58Speaker 21: jiving very large-scale transformations in some of the largest financial institutions.
- 37:06Speaker 21: And now I'm going to be advising these very institutions
- 37:12Speaker 21: on how to rethink and reimagine their operating models and
- 37:17Speaker 21: their workflows as it pertains to the advent of AI
- 37:23Speaker 21: and how to automate. But in doing so, it's extremely
- 37:28Speaker 21: important that everyone keep in mind the role of the
- 37:33Speaker 21: human and the power of the human to do things
- 37:39Speaker 21: that AI will never be able to do, like innovate,
- 37:44Speaker 21: come up with really brand new ideas, not derivative ideas,
- 37:48Speaker 21: and to lead from the heart with thought leaders who
- 37:54Speaker 21: are really conscious, who understand that it's not only about
- 38:00Speaker 21: the bottom line, it's about seeing the value in people
- 38:06Speaker 21: who shine. And I have spent many years in parallel
- 38:15Speaker 21: to this corporate existence, really doing the inner work and
- 38:20Speaker 21: the transformation work inside. I spent several years practicing Qigong
- 38:27Speaker 21: with a Qigong master, really learning how to breathe and
- 38:32Speaker 21: breathe into my body and feel. and stumbled into Ayurveda
- 38:37Speaker 21: and learned so much about what makes us connect and
- 38:45Speaker 21: what life is really about, just from learning how the
- 38:50Speaker 21: different asanas and yoga and food we eat and how
- 38:53Speaker 21: everything that surrounds us is yoga. And I stumbled then
- 38:58Speaker 21: into kundalini yoga, and that's where I fell in love
- 39:01Speaker 21: with mantra and sound and vibration And that led me
- 39:08Speaker 21: to start playing the gong and then the sound bowls.
- 39:11Speaker 21: And I studied sound with Jonathan Goldman and then later
- 39:16Speaker 21: also became an executive coach. So though these two worlds
- 39:21Speaker 21: might seem quite disparate, corporate, yoga, but actually they're quite similar.
- 39:28Speaker 21: It's all about transformation. And what I discovered is that
- 39:33Speaker 21: the outer world is just a reflection of the inner world.
- 39:38Speaker 21: And when we change inside and we do the work,
- 39:41Speaker 21: we see that work reflected in the outside. And we
- 39:47Speaker 21: all have the power to do this, when we release
- 39:53Speaker 21: resistance and the need to react to every situation, when
- 40:00Speaker 21: we loosen the grip that we have and that need
- 40:04Speaker 21: for control and attachment to expected outcomes, and we just
- 40:10Speaker 21: go inside and we find that neutral spot, that place
- 40:15Speaker 21: of samadhi, and we just see that no judgment is
- 40:20Speaker 21: needed and that everything that we have and everything that
- 40:24Speaker 21: we need we have inside. That's where peace resides. And
- 40:31Speaker 21: today I'm going to be chanting three mantras. The first,
- 40:37Speaker 21: there are three kundalini mantras and as Yogini Jema said,
- 40:42Speaker 21: mantra is a mind tool. It's an instrument, it's sound.
- 40:48Speaker 21: It's a vibration. So more than the literal words and
- 40:51Speaker 21: what their meaning is, I ask that you all just
- 40:55Speaker 21: close your eyes and feel the vibration of the sound.
- 40:59Speaker 21: And if you feel so moved, please join in. The
- 41:03Speaker 21: mantras are repeated, so over time you may learn them.
- 41:08Speaker 21: It doesn't really matter the words. I just feel the vibration.
- 41:12Speaker 17: And join me in.
- 41:15Speaker 2: The vibration. Thank you.
- 41:19Speaker 21: The first mantra is a mantra of peace.
- 41:28Speaker 22: Sat Narayan Waheguru Hari Narayan Sat Naam Sat Narayan Waheguru
- 41:44Speaker 22: Hari Narayan Sat Naam Sat Narayan Vaheguru.
- 41:56Speaker 13: Hari Narayan Satnam Peace Sat Narayan Vaheguru Hari Narayan Satnam
- 42:12Speaker 13: Join me Sat Narayan Vaheguru Hare Narayan Satnam Sat Narayan
- 42:27Speaker 13: Oha Hey Guru Hare Narayan Satnam Sat Narayan Oha Hey
- 42:40Speaker 13: Guru Hare Narayan Satnam Sat Narayan Vaheguru Hari Narayan Satnam
- 42:59Speaker 13: Sat Narayan Vaheguru Hari Narayan Satnam Find that peace inside.
- 43:11Speaker 13: Sat Narayan Vaheguru The next mantra I will do is
- 43:31Speaker 13: the protection mantra, the Mangalacharan.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Please join me.
- 43:46Speaker 10: Good day.
- 43:51Speaker 22: Good day.
- 43:57Speaker 23: Good day.
- 44:14Speaker 10: Siddhi Gurudev Namah.
- 44:30Speaker 23: Aum Gurudev Namah Juga Gudei na mei Sat Gudei na
- 44:53Speaker 23: mei Siddhi Gurudei.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Vei na mei Good day to me.
- 45:17Speaker 13: Good day to me.
- 45:22Speaker 22: Good day to me.
- 45:28Speaker 13: Good day to me.
- 45:39Speaker 23: Protection.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 46:06Speaker 21: And the last mantra I will do is a mantra
- 46:10Speaker 21: for trust, which each and every one of us knows
- 46:17Speaker 21: there's something greater.
- 46:19Speaker 2: We're all interconnected.
- 46:21Speaker 21: Let's trust in our ability to co-create peace together. Let's
- 46:27Speaker 21: trust in that possibility.
- 46:36Speaker 24: Apsahayi hoa satchadar satchadoa Had, had, had Apsahayi hoa satchadar
- 46:55Speaker 24: satchadoa Had, had, had Up to high hoa Such a dar.
- 47:15Speaker 11: Such a doa Hard, hard, hard.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Join me.
- 47:29Speaker 11: Up to high hoa Such a dar Sacha doha har
- 47:40Speaker 11: har har.
- 47:45Speaker 24: Aksa hai hoa Sacha dar Sacha doha har har har
- 48:05Speaker 24: Sai Hoa.
- 48:09Speaker 18: Sajjadah Sajjadoa Har.
- 48:21Speaker 2: Har Har Thank you. Thank you, Alyssa.
- 48:37Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 49:07Speaker 1: There is an extraordinary power in what can happen when
- 49:11Speaker 1: people around the world come together at the same moment,
- 49:16Speaker 1: united by a shared intention. For decades, Chris Decker has
- 49:21Speaker 1: been creating those moments. A visionary leader in global music, culture,
- 49:27Speaker 1: and ecological activism, Chris is the founder of Earth Dance,
- 49:33Speaker 1: one of the largest synchronized global peace events in the world. Today,
- 49:39Speaker 1: As co-founder of Origin, he continues to explore how music, community, consciousness,
- 49:48Speaker 1: and our relationship with the Earth can bring humanity together
- 49:52Speaker 1: in new ways. His work invites us to imagine what
- 49:56Speaker 1: becomes possible when we move beyond our individual experience and
- 50:02Speaker 1: gather in greater connection and coherence. Please welcome Chris Decker.
- 50:17Speaker 16: Thank you, everyone. It's so great to be here in
- 50:21Speaker 16: beautiful New York City. I flew in from Australia just
- 50:25Speaker 16: a few days ago to be with you all here
- 50:27Speaker 16: on the International Day of Peace. So what an amazing place.
- 50:32Speaker 16: And I'm here to invite you all to an event.
- 50:36Speaker 16: It's a global event that's happening October 17th, just a
- 50:41Speaker 16: month from today. And the event is called Origin.
- 50:44Speaker 8: Origin.
- 50:45Speaker 16: And the idea behind Origin is that what if we
- 50:49Speaker 16: could take a day out, if planet Earth and everybody
- 50:53Speaker 16: around the world could take a day out to actually
- 50:56Speaker 16: celebrate the universal truth that we all share a common origin,
- 51:02Speaker 16: all of humanity, regardless of color, regardless of what religion.
- 51:06Speaker 16: We all come from the same source. We are all
- 51:10Speaker 16: homo sapien. We are all humans. We are all one tribe, actually.
- 51:14Speaker 16: So that's the concept. October 17th, around the world. You
- 51:19Speaker 16: don't have to go anywhere or buy a ticket to
- 51:21Speaker 16: any event. It's a global, synchronized event. You just have
- 51:25Speaker 16: to bring your friends and family together at the simplest level,
- 51:28Speaker 16: sign up, and your light joins the global map. So far,
- 51:34Speaker 16: we have around... 3,500 satellite events. People around the world
- 51:40Speaker 16: have signed up to commit to this day. We have
- 51:43Speaker 16: about 100 plus public events as well happening all around
- 51:47Speaker 16: the world. 75 countries are now participating. So we're making
- 51:51Speaker 16: an invitation to all of you to please, please join.
- 51:54Speaker 16: It's very, very simple. It's ourorigin.earth. And the sort of theme,
- 52:00Speaker 16: if you like, of Origin is we are catalyzing a
- 52:04Speaker 16: cultural shift from doom to bloom. And I'm sure you know,
- 52:09Speaker 16: in your feeds, in your social media, on the news,
- 52:13Speaker 16: there is so much doom being presented to us. Everything
- 52:17Speaker 16: feels like it's collapsing. Political systems are collapsing. Governments are
- 52:22Speaker 16: attacking their own people.
- 52:24Speaker 15: Hello.
- 52:24Speaker 16: We're having chaos around the world. We're seeing mountains fall
- 52:29Speaker 16: in Nepal. We're seeing people fighting each other, countries fighting
- 52:34Speaker 16: each other. But actually, this breakdown is leading to a breakthrough.
- 52:41Speaker 16: We're actually breaking through and we need to come together
- 52:44Speaker 16: more than ever as communities, more than ever as one
- 52:48Speaker 16: human population. We need to come together and celebrate the
- 52:51Speaker 16: fact that what it's going to take is collaboration, not separation.
- 52:55Speaker 16: This old paradigm narrative of us and them. We have
- 53:00Speaker 16: to put that aside and come together and collaborate to
- 53:03Speaker 16: build a new earth. I build a new Earth for
- 53:06Speaker 16: our children. So the highlight or the climax of the
- 53:11Speaker 16: Origin event is a synchronized global moment. And what we
- 53:15Speaker 16: did was the last few months, we went around the
- 53:18Speaker 16: world with this incredible filmmaker, Deborah Anderson, who filmed First
- 53:23Speaker 16: Nation elders in 15 different tribes, in all these different
- 53:28Speaker 16: countries around the world, starting with New Zealand, right across
- 53:32Speaker 16: the world, Asia, Africa, Americas. And we asked the elders
- 53:37Speaker 16: a simple question. Can you share a few lines from
- 53:42Speaker 16: a prayer from your culture for Mother Earth? So we
- 53:46Speaker 16: grabbed a few lines from each elder and we wove
- 53:49Speaker 16: it together into one beautiful prayer. So on October 17th,
- 53:55Speaker 16: At 12 p.m. San Francisco time, 3 p.m. New York time,
- 54:01Speaker 16: and all the other time zones across the world, the
- 54:04Speaker 16: whole world will synchronize and will listen to this prayer.
- 54:07Speaker 16: And people will be tuning in to this prayer, starting
- 54:10Speaker 16: with the indigenous wisdom keepers of this world. And then
- 54:13Speaker 16: it will go into the next stage. The next invitation
- 54:17Speaker 16: is to put your hands on the earth. And if
- 54:19Speaker 16: you're in a block of flats, hold a pot plant,
- 54:21Speaker 16: hold a piece of nature and make your own affirmation for.
- 54:25Speaker 12: A new earth.
- 54:26Speaker 16: And then it's going to go into an anthem for
- 54:29Speaker 16: global unity. So we put the word out to artists
- 54:33Speaker 16: across the world from all different musical traditions. We had
- 54:36Speaker 16: 40 artists come together and create this anthem. So imagine from...
- 54:42Speaker 16: this prayer for Mother Earth into a moment of your
- 54:45Speaker 16: own connection, a moment of your own stillness into this anthem.
- 54:49Speaker 16: Hopefully everybody will be dancing around the world at the
- 54:52Speaker 16: same time. So that's the invitation for you all. You
- 54:56Speaker 16: can sign up on ourorigin.earth, ourorigin.earth, and just check it
- 55:03Speaker 16: out and sign up. It's very simple. You don't have
- 55:06Speaker 16: to do anything as I was mentioning. And today, for
- 55:09Speaker 16: the first time, we're really, really excited. This is the
- 55:12Speaker 16: first public launch of the anthem for Global Unity. We
- 55:17Speaker 16: haven't shown it to anyone yet. It literally is just
- 55:19Speaker 16: hot off the press, and it made it right in
- 55:21Speaker 16: time for this moment in Times Square. So two of
- 55:26Speaker 16: the artists who were most grateful to join the anthem
- 55:30Speaker 16: was Edward Ellington Jr. and April Ellington, who are the
- 55:34Speaker 16: son and daughter of Duke Ellington, the famous legendary jazz
- 55:38Speaker 16: artist Duke Ellington from New York City. They joined the
- 55:43Speaker 16: anthem with such passion and such energy. So we asked
- 55:47Speaker 16: them to come today, to be with us today, to
- 55:49Speaker 16: cut the ribbon, if you like, to launch the anthem
- 55:51Speaker 16: for you all today in Times Square. So please give
- 55:55Speaker 16: them a big round of applause.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Good evening, New York. My sister and I were very
- 56:10Speaker 5: honored to be part of this project, the Origin Anthem.
- 56:15Speaker 5: And the message behind it, as you will see, this
- 56:18Speaker 5: is actually the world premiere of the video of the recording.
- 56:22Speaker 5: Artists in this video are represented by 30 different countries.
- 56:28Speaker 5: And my sister and I have been on tour, so
- 56:30Speaker 5: we did part of the recording in Los Angeles and
- 56:33Speaker 5: part of it here in New York. But we just
- 56:36Speaker 5: wanted to share with you It's our responsibility to take
- 56:41Speaker 5: care of the gift that we have of this planet,
- 56:45Speaker 5: the resources that it brings, and just be kind to
- 56:49Speaker 5: each other. That's all that is required. You have the rules,
- 56:54Speaker 5: let's go.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Good evening, New York.
- 56:58Speaker 25: How's everybody feeling this afternoon, this early evening? United Nations
- 57:05Speaker 25: International Peace Day. We have all gathered here of one accord.
- 57:10Speaker 25: We are here, as my brother mentioned, to present the
- 57:15Speaker 25: most amazing composition, Origin Anthem. And as Edward mentioned, it
- 57:22Speaker 25: is our responsibility. We must, our world is in a
- 57:26Speaker 25: state of flux. Now is the time. It's not the
- 57:32Speaker 25: wave of the future, it's the right here, the right now,
- 57:36Speaker 25: to reconnect with nature, our earth, one another, be kind
- 57:42Speaker 25: to each other, love one another, and take care of
- 57:47Speaker 25: our earth. And everybody, find peace in your heart. And
- 57:54Speaker 25: we wanna make sure that everybody lets everybody else know
- 58:00Speaker 25: that may not be here to make sure to join
- 58:05Speaker 25: our Origin.Earth and the Origin Anthem.
- 58:10Speaker 14: And we are.
- 58:11Speaker 25: So honored, so pleased to be a part of this project.
- 58:15Speaker 25: And this is just the beginning. We're planting the seed
- 58:19Speaker 25: and now we must nurture our land and watch it grow.
- 58:25Speaker 5: Also, I want to share with you the writers of
- 58:27Speaker 5: this composition, Mr. Aaron Abelman and Mr. Chris Decker. And
- 58:33Speaker 5: we do love you madly.
- 58:35Speaker 25: Amen.
- 58:36Speaker 5: Enjoy the Origin Anthem.
- 59:00Speaker 7: One moon, one sun. Blessings, brothers, sisters. Called to come.
- 59:01Speaker 4: Call to come Gathering.
- 59:05Speaker 7: Flowers for our world.
- 59:22Speaker 12: It's in the way we dance and it's in the
- 59:25Speaker 12: way we pray. It's in the.
- 59:27Speaker 16: Seeds we're planting.
- 59:28Speaker 7: It's in the way we play.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Father, the wisdom of the elders.
- 59:33Speaker 7: Will keep us strong. The sacred knowledge from our ancestral songs.
- 59:38Speaker 12: We're going to find our way.
- 59:45Speaker 7: To get back to our origin.
- 59:47Speaker 12: We're gonna find our way. We claim our new life begins. Origin, origin,
- 59:59Speaker 12: where harmony began.
- 1:00:01Speaker 7: Every heart, every voice, rising once again.
- 1:00:05Speaker 26: Yeah, feel it all to return back to our origin.
- 1:00:09Speaker 7: We are one, we are love, a new life shall begin.
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: The moment's yet to come. Every river, tree, and mountain
- 1:00:39Speaker 7: is our own Ancient echoes in the wind.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: It's a brand new road, trading roots to the past,
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: one human family connected at last, unity, peace, let the
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: healing begin, wake the fire, spark the light from within,
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: no walls between us when the world is new, look
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: back to our origins, ain't root renewed, send out a wave,
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: let compassion deploy, cover the earth in unstoppable joy.
- 1:01:09Speaker 12: It's in the way we gather Our stories show the.
- 1:01:12Speaker 26: Way It's in the way we matter Each and.
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: Every day It's in.
- 1:01:17Speaker 12: The dreams of children Leading us along Singing the melody
- 1:01:22Speaker 12: of our.
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: New ancient song We're.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Gonna find our.
- 1:01:26Speaker 7: Way To get back to our origin We're gonna.
- 1:01:34Speaker 26: Find the harmony began. Every heart, every voice, rising once again. Yeah,
- 1:01:49Speaker 26: feel the heart to return back to our origin. We
- 1:01:52Speaker 26: are one, we are one, never shall be. We're gonna
- 1:01:54Speaker 26: find our way. We're gonna find our way.
