Fire Upset Mercury at Diana’s Retirement | WNBA News
Portland Fire pulls off a stunning upset in Phoenix, defeating the Mercury 88-85 despite Diana Taurasi’s jersey retirement halftime. Carla Leite led the way with 23 points, including clutch shots, while Bridget Carleton sealed the win with blocks and free throws. DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas shone for Phoenix, but couldn’t overcome Portland’s late surge. The Fire (15-20) now head to Toronto, while the Mercury (13-23) travel to Atlanta — both teams facing pivotal tests ahead.
