- 0:27SPEAKER_00: You know, many people, including myself, create a task list every day.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we also call this a to-do list.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: And these are things that we feel we have to get done on that day.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: And in a world that increasingly demands our attention every second, in a world filled with ever-increasing opportunities and connections, this list seems to get longer all the time.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Now the antidote to all this is to create something called a stopdoing list.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: And these are things that you're not going to do.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Here are 10 suggestions for you to put on your stop doing list.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Number one, stop committing to extra activities.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Number two, stop feeling guilty for not doing more.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Number three, stop answering email 28 times a day.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Number four, stop helping everybody for free.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Number five, stop starting new projects until you publish the current one.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Number six, stop comparing yourself to other writers.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Number seven, stop watching the news.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Number eight, stop holding grudges.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Number nine, stop listening to people who don't believe in you.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: And number ten, stop following people on social media who irritate you.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: I got a feeling that one may have hit home with some people.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: You know, success as a writer and as a creative person isn't really a matter of doing more.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: It's also a matter of eliminating the negative and unproductive things in your life so the good things can naturally start sprouting up.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Here's today's challenge.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Choose one of the items I just listed and stop doing it today.
