Latest / DISGRACELAND / Bonus Episode: The Best, Wildest, and Most Unbelievable Jim Morrison Death/Faked Death Theories.
Transcript
- 0:28Speaker 1: Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode, a little thing we
- 0:31Speaker 1: like to call the after party. This is the show
- 0:33Speaker 1: after the show, the party after the party, the bridge
- 0:35Speaker 1: to get you from one full episode of Disgraceland to
- 0:37Speaker 1: the other. The backyard, to dig into the dirt. Our mission, guys,
- 0:41Speaker 1: to uncover the truth, to confront the myth, to reclaim
- 0:43Speaker 1: the story. On this bonus episode, we're diving deeper into
- 0:46Speaker 1: the bathtub with Jim Morrison's body and the conspiracy theorists.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We're previewing next week's new episode on the Happy Mondays,
- 0:53Speaker 1: which is absolutely mad, as they say. Plus we get
- 0:56Speaker 1: into your emails, comments, dms, and as always a whole
- 0:59Speaker 1: lot of rosie. This is the podcast for the musically obsessed,
- 1:02Speaker 1: the outsiders, the independent thinkers who know that the best
- 1:04Speaker 1: history is the history that gets buried. Disgrace Lands, where
- 1:07Speaker 1: I tell the stories he didn't want told, the kind
- 1:10Speaker 1: you'll end up telling someone else. All right, disc goes,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Let's get into it, all right, guys. In this week's
- 1:24Speaker 1: full episode on the death of Jim Morrison, you might
- 1:27Speaker 1: have heard me make mention of the theory that Jim
- 1:29Speaker 1: Morrison died at the Rock and Roll Circus nightclub, and
- 1:32Speaker 1: not in his Parisian apartment as the official story goes. Here, however,
- 1:39Speaker 1: is a clip to refresh your memory. In Paris in
- 1:44Speaker 1: nineteen seventy one, there was a nightclub that Jim Morrison
- 1:47Speaker 1: hung out at called the Rock and Roll Circus. It
- 1:50Speaker 1: was a hotbed for drug use of all kinds, including heroin.
- 1:55Speaker 1: In two thousand and seven, the manager of that club,
- 1:58Speaker 1: Sam Bennet, published a book in French only, in which
- 2:01Speaker 1: he made the claim that Jim overdosed on heroin that
- 2:04Speaker 1: night at the Rock and Roll Circus, and that his
- 2:07Speaker 1: body was moved out of the club, back to his
- 2:10Speaker 1: apartment and placed in the tug. Conspiracy theorists love this theory,
- 2:16Speaker 1: but I don't. First of all, why would they take
- 2:19Speaker 1: the body all the way back to Jim's apartment and
- 2:21Speaker 1: carefully stage a scene with him in the tub. Why
- 2:24Speaker 1: not just take him out of the club and leave
- 2:26Speaker 1: the body in the street or in somebody's car or anywhere. Really,
- 2:30Speaker 1: why go through all the trouble of having to sneak
- 2:32Speaker 1: the body through the streets of Paris into an apartment
- 2:36Speaker 1: and then presumably convinced the dead dude's girlfriend to get
- 2:39Speaker 1: behind this fantastic lie with you, a lie that would
- 2:43Speaker 1: clearly complicate her life. What incentive would Pamela course and
- 2:47Speaker 1: have to support this lie? Okay, there is no incentive,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and Sam Bennett offers no proof to this theory, rather
- 2:57Speaker 1: than his own supposed eye witness testimony and the supposed
- 3:02Speaker 1: testimony hearsay. I would say, I'm a few other clubgoers,
- 3:06Speaker 1: but there's no physical evidence. There's no corroborating evidence of
- 3:10Speaker 1: any sort. You simply have to take these people at
- 3:13Speaker 1: their word. It's the same thing as saying I saw
- 3:16Speaker 1: Elvis at the supermarket today. Bennett's book was only published
- 3:21Speaker 1: in French, that's telling, and it was published by a
- 3:24Speaker 1: niche independent publisher. Now I'm not trying to shit on
- 3:29Speaker 1: independent publishers. I'm just saying, don't you think if this
- 3:34Speaker 1: guy had the goods that a major publishing company would
- 3:39Speaker 1: publish his book? Okay, I had a major publishing company
- 3:43Speaker 1: publish my book. I have a little bit of experience
- 3:46Speaker 1: with what goes into making these claims. Everything I said
- 3:50Speaker 1: in disgrace and everything, even things that wasn't even thinking
- 3:53Speaker 1: about innocuous, innocuous facts, the facts that I thought were innocuous,
- 3:58Speaker 1: I should say, not particularly important to whatever claim I
- 4:04Speaker 1: was making. You know, like all of that stuff was
- 4:07Speaker 1: vetted and checked by an attorney and I had to
- 4:09Speaker 1: back everything up. Okay, Again, Bennett's book was only published
- 4:13Speaker 1: in French. It never had an English translated version that
- 4:16Speaker 1: was published. Why not? And again it was only published,
- 4:20Speaker 1: like I said, by a niche independent publisher, not by
- 4:24Speaker 1: a major publishing company. And you know, there's never been
- 4:29Speaker 1: an English translation that matters. But there have been a
- 4:33Speaker 1: shitload of English speaking conspiracy theorists on TikTok videos repping
- 4:38Speaker 1: this theory of Bennett's English AI generated videos on YouTube.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'm so sick. Just side note, I am so sick
- 4:47Speaker 1: of these AI voice documentaries, super serious on YouTube with
- 4:52Speaker 1: spooky music behind it and then cut down for tickto
- 4:55Speaker 1: I'm so I'm so sick of this crap. I cannot wait,
- 5:00Speaker 1: can't wait until it gets blown out and it's coming.
- 5:02Speaker 1: There's all this fear. Side note, all this fear about
- 5:05Speaker 1: AI destroying everything for creatives, and yes, some of that
- 5:08Speaker 1: is actually well founded fear. But I do think that
- 5:11Speaker 1: there's going to be a reckoning and the cream of
- 5:13Speaker 1: the crop is going to rise and this slop will
- 5:17Speaker 1: be demoted and relegated to the dark corners of the
- 5:20Speaker 1: Internet where it belongs. I think that's coming. I'm positive. Anyways,
- 5:24Speaker 1: Like I said, lots of English AI generated videos on
- 5:27Speaker 1: this conspiracy theory that are on YouTube, cut down, on
- 5:30Speaker 1: TikTok and on Instagram, and there are Reddit threads breathlessly
- 5:33Speaker 1: supporting this theory also in English. Sam Bennett made a
- 5:36Speaker 1: lot of hay with this Rock and Roll Circus conspiracy
- 5:39Speaker 1: theory about Jim Morrison, and all of it with little evidence. Now,
- 5:44Speaker 1: his theory again that Jim Morrison died in the toilet
- 5:50Speaker 1: at the Rock and Roll Circus and his body was
- 5:53Speaker 1: brought back to his apartment and placed in the tub.
- 5:57Speaker 1: The theory is possible, I guess, in the sense that
- 6:00Speaker 1: anything is possible, and the theory Sam Bennett's theory isn't
- 6:05Speaker 1: necessarily disproved by the theory that I believe happened the
- 6:10Speaker 1: events that I believe happened, by the theory that I
- 6:11Speaker 1: subscribe to that Jim Marrison died from mistakenly taking his
- 6:14Speaker 1: girlfriend's heroin supplied by Count Jean de Bertoy. Okay, I guess.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I guess Jim could have taken that heroin at the
- 6:24Speaker 1: rock and roll circus instead of at his apartment, and
- 6:28Speaker 1: that he could have had his body moved back to
- 6:31Speaker 1: his apartment. But again, why why would they move the
- 6:34Speaker 1: body back to the apartment. Why not just leave them
- 6:36Speaker 1: in the street or put the body somewhere else. Theoretically,
- 6:39Speaker 1: both theories can be true, That's what I'm trying to
- 6:42Speaker 1: get at. But that then pushes the story into the
- 6:44Speaker 1: Hollywood studio version of this rock star's death. And that's
- 6:47Speaker 1: just a little too fascinating and a little too good
- 6:50Speaker 1: to be true, and just too many fantastical things have
- 6:54Speaker 1: to have happened in order for all of these pieces
- 6:56Speaker 1: to come together into the story that the conspiracy theorists
- 6:59Speaker 1: want us to believe. That's the problem with conspiracy theories.
- 7:03Speaker 1: They ask too much of us. The theories are always
- 7:07Speaker 1: couched in this subtext that all of these secret, duplicitous
- 7:11Speaker 1: things are happening in the shadows. Well, some of us
- 7:15Speaker 1: have been in those shadows. Some of us have spent
- 7:18Speaker 1: countless hours researching what goes on in those shadows. Some
- 7:23Speaker 1: of us have spent time with lawyers vetting what we've
- 7:27Speaker 1: found in those shadows. Okay, and usually the thing that
- 7:31Speaker 1: actually happened is the most obvious thing, not some complicated
- 7:37Speaker 1: reordering of events that involve multiple characters all moving in
- 7:43Speaker 1: secret together. Conspiracies mostly happen by accident, not by intricate
- 7:48Speaker 1: planning and conniving. Events have momentum. People move in unison
- 7:54Speaker 1: based on their own incentives, often without each other's knowledge,
- 7:57Speaker 1: in certain directions, often the same direction, and oftentimes unexpected
- 8:02Speaker 1: things can happen in harmony with each other, and the
- 8:04Speaker 1: next thing you know, the president is dead in Dallas.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I'm not saying it doesn't happen. It does happen, but
- 8:09Speaker 1: it happens differently from how the conspiracy theorists want us
- 8:12Speaker 1: to believe that it happens. I believe that the best
- 8:14Speaker 1: conspiracy theories, the ones that are actually true, happen almost
- 8:18Speaker 1: by accident and less by design. But this doesn't make
- 8:21Speaker 1: the conspiracy theorists or their theories uninteresting. I'm fascinated by them,
- 8:26Speaker 1: particularly the more outlandish ones. And when it comes to
- 8:30Speaker 1: Jim Morrison, there are many, many, many outlandish and frankly
- 8:34Speaker 1: highly entertaining theories about Jim faking his own death. Okay,
- 8:38Speaker 1: now I didn't really get into these theories in any detail,
- 8:42Speaker 1: in any real detail. Anyways, in the full episode this week,
- 8:46Speaker 1: but Zeth and I are going to be discussing in
- 8:47Speaker 1: the exclusive section of this after Party today some of
- 8:51Speaker 1: the wilder claims about how Jim has spent his time
- 8:55Speaker 1: since he faked his death in Paris. Okay, did you
- 8:58Speaker 1: know Jim Morrison's maintenance man in New York. It's true,
- 9:01Speaker 1: and he wasn't really RUSSELINGBA after all. Turns out he
- 9:05Speaker 1: was a cowboy. Is a cowboy, I should say, up
- 9:08Speaker 1: in Oregon. He's also living in Tibet as a monk.
- 9:11Speaker 1: He's undercover and on the run from the CIA in
- 9:14Speaker 1: the Australian outback as well. He gets around Jim Morrison.
- 9:17Speaker 1: That's my point. This is one of my favorite ones
- 9:19Speaker 1: that the CIA did it. And I'm being sarcastic when
- 9:23Speaker 1: I say favorite. I actually hate this one. It cheapens
- 9:26Speaker 1: the way in which we should be looking at the CIA,
- 9:30Speaker 1: which is we should look at them as one of
- 9:31Speaker 1: the most lethal, slimy, dangerous and complicated organizations that the
- 9:36Speaker 1: world has ever known. That's another story. But anyways, that
- 9:40Speaker 1: and I are going to have some fun with all
- 9:42Speaker 1: this in the exclusive section of this after party coming
- 9:44Speaker 1: up in a couple of minutes here in the bonus episode.
- 9:46Speaker 1: But you know the drill. You gotta be an All

- 10:04Speaker 1: after this after Party is our rewind episode from our
- 10:07Speaker 1: archive on John Lennon, Parts one and two, originally released
- 10:11Speaker 1: on June tenth, twenty eighteen, twenty eighteen. Damn, that was
- 10:15Speaker 1: a long time ago. This episode deals with John Lennon
- 10:18Speaker 1: and the motivation behind his assassination. When you listen to
- 10:21Speaker 1: these episodes, you're gonna learn why John Lennon was tied
- 10:24Speaker 1: up and blindfolded by his producer in the studio. You're
- 10:26Speaker 1: gonna learn about why John Lennon was thrown out of
- 10:30Speaker 1: the Troubadour by a relative of the President of the
- 10:32Speaker 1: United States, and of course more about the sixth psychology
- 10:35Speaker 1: that drove Lennon's assassin to do the unthinkable. That and
- 10:38Speaker 1: more all in the Rewind episodes on John Lennon Coming
- 10:41Speaker 1: up in this weekend's Disgraceland feed Next after this week's
- 10:46Speaker 1: Disgraceland Rewind episode, coming up next Tuesday, our brand new
- 10:50Speaker 1: episode on Happy Mondays. This story deals with possibly the wildest, craziest,
- 11:00Speaker 1: most batshit, lunatic, insane night life scene that has ever existed. Okay,
- 11:08Speaker 1: this scene spawned a movement called acid house. Acid House
- 11:11Speaker 1: was invented, and it gave birth to what would be
- 11:14Speaker 1: the defining sound of England in the nineteen nineties. Okay,
- 11:16Speaker 1: where bands like Oasis, bands like The Stone Roses got
- 11:20Speaker 1: their start in the home of a drug that changed
- 11:23Speaker 1: music history. So listen to that Happy Monday's episode to
- 11:26Speaker 1: get all that info. All Right, when you're listening to
- 11:28Speaker 1: the new Disgraceland Happy Monday's episode, be thinking about bands,
- 11:32Speaker 1: be thinking about drugs, be thinking about the wild music
- 11:34Speaker 1: scenes that sprouted from that synergy. And give us a
- 11:37Speaker 1: call at six one seven nine oh six six six
- 11:39Speaker 1: three eight and let us know what you think is
- 11:42Speaker 1: the most hedonistic, transgressive wild band of all time? Is it?
- 11:48Speaker 1: Happy Mondays? After you hear this episode. Are you gonna
- 11:51Speaker 1: walk away thinking damn, I didn't know that that band
- 11:53Speaker 1: was fucking crazy? Or is it somebody else? Okay? You
- 11:56Speaker 1: can email us at disgrace lamdpod. You can call us
- 11:59Speaker 1: with your answers six one seven nine oh six six

- 12:14Speaker 1: All right, discos, your answers to the last week's question
- 12:17Speaker 1: of the week, your voicemails, your texts, your dms, they're
- 12:20Speaker 1: all coming up right after this. All right, guys, you
- 12:37Speaker 1: want to be a rock and roll star? Listen now
- 12:39Speaker 1: here what I say. I'm in the phone booth. It's
- 12:41Speaker 1: the one across the hall disco. Six one seven nine
- 12:43Speaker 1: oh six six six three eight. Last week's question of
- 12:46Speaker 1: the week relative to our Disgraceland episode, our Jim Morrison episode,
- 12:51Speaker 1: was how do you think that Jim Morrison died? Now
- 12:55Speaker 1: on this question, I'm going to turn to you guys
- 12:57Speaker 1: on Instagram in some of our more passionate followers more
- 13:03Speaker 1: passionate followers of the Jim Morrison death saga. I should say,
- 13:07Speaker 1: because well, you know the Internet, it never disappoints. Unknown
- 13:12Speaker 1: Assassin seven rites saying, hey, he never died because of Heroin.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Matter of fact, his closest friends said he never liked Heroin.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Jim Morrison was killed all caps. They feared he was
- 13:22Speaker 1: uncontrollably wild, unexpected and rebellious, and so was Jimmy Hendrix.
- 13:28Speaker 1: He was killed by his own manager so he can
- 13:30Speaker 1: own his music after his death. Speak the truth, all
- 13:33Speaker 1: caps well, Unknown Assassin seven, whoever you are, clearly I
- 13:38Speaker 1: don't think you're a disgrace Land listener because you would
- 13:41Speaker 1: know my thoughts on Jimmy Hendrix and they align kind
- 13:43Speaker 1: of with yours. Can't be proven, but I'm kind of
- 13:46Speaker 1: there with you on HENDRICKX on Marrison. I think you're
- 13:48Speaker 1: out of your mind, and yeah, get back to me.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I'd love to continue this conversation. Scarlett one MB believes
- 13:55Speaker 1: that Jim Morrison disappeared off into the sunset and that
- 13:58Speaker 1: he hated the rock star persona. More miles have been
- 14:02Speaker 1: gotten out of this Jim Morrison hating the limelight theory
- 14:05Speaker 1: than possibly anything in rock and roll Archie Pointer thinks
- 14:09Speaker 1: he was killed and doesn't exactly say why, and no
- 14:14Speaker 1: evidence that he was killed none. And I've heard people
- 14:17Speaker 1: point to the fact that the CIA was involved. They
- 14:19Speaker 1: were not a lot of people buying into the merry
- 14:22Speaker 1: and faithful of it all. And uh, you know I
- 14:25Speaker 1: support that theory. You know I do at disgracelam pod
- 14:29Speaker 1: on Instagram, theoretically on x on Facebook. You want to
- 14:33Speaker 1: talk more about it with me there, or you can
- 14:34Speaker 1: text six one seventy nine oh six six six three eight.
- 14:37Speaker 1: You want to elevate this conversation, you want to elevate
- 14:39Speaker 1: the discourse. I'm here for it, Okay, text me, email
- 14:42Speaker 1: me six one seventy nine oh six six six three
- 14:45Speaker 1: eight speaking to text. Got some interesting texts from a
- 14:48Speaker 1: bunch of you on last week's Question of the Week
- 14:50Speaker 1: regarding Wendy O Williams and the most shocking thing that
- 14:54Speaker 1: you guys have seen a musician do on stage nine
- 14:57Speaker 1: four nine right, saying, Hey, most shocking thing that I've
- 15:00Speaker 1: seen on stage? Well, I never saw Gigi Allen, but
- 15:02Speaker 1: this is close. Sometime in the mid nineteen eighties, the
- 15:05Speaker 1: Cramps were playing at the country Club in Recita, California.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Now you'd think the story would be about Lux Interior
- 15:12Speaker 1: wagging his stuff at the crowd, which he did, But no,
- 15:15Speaker 1: this is about El Duce from the Mentors, who is
- 15:18Speaker 1: on stage between bands. Now I'm going to interject here
- 15:21Speaker 1: into the text for those of you who don't know,
- 15:23Speaker 1: speaking of conspiracy theories, L Duce the dude air quotes
- 15:27Speaker 1: musician from the Mentors who is supposedly the guy who
- 15:31Speaker 1: Courtney Love hired to kill Kurt Kobe. He's on record
- 15:35Speaker 1: saying he's the guy that he's paid like fifty grand
- 15:37Speaker 1: to do it or something. You know how I feel
- 15:42Speaker 1: about that. Anyways, back to the text, this is about
- 15:45Speaker 1: L Duce from the Mentors, who was on stage between bands,
- 15:47Speaker 1: maybe announcing the cramps, maybe just being L Duce and
- 15:50Speaker 1: looking for a free beer. I don't recall. What I
- 15:52Speaker 1: do recall is within seconds of L Duce being on stage,
- 15:54Speaker 1: his pants were at his ankles and his hand firmly
- 15:57Speaker 1: grasping the microphone, and out of nowhere, a young lady
- 16:00Speaker 1: hops up on stage and proceeds to phillate. Okay, all right,
- 16:05Speaker 1: you know she does what she does to L Duce.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Al Duce doesn't flinch right there in front of everybody,
- 16:09Speaker 1: keeps keeps his monologue going into the microphone. Yikes, that
- 16:14Speaker 1: is pretty shocking. I you know, I'm reading this for
- 16:18Speaker 1: the first time here, and uh, I asked for it.
- 16:23Speaker 1: You know, I clearly stopped saying the thing that he did.
- 16:25Speaker 1: You can read between the lines because you know this
- 16:28Speaker 1: is a family show sort of. I asked for this though,
- 16:34Speaker 1: So no fault to all y'all. When you ask for
- 16:37Speaker 1: the most shocking and you get responses about l Duce
- 16:40Speaker 1: being filated on stage, well you shouldn't be surprised. As
- 16:44Speaker 1: a podcast host, right, same question. Let's move over to
- 16:48Speaker 1: the four two five. Hey Jake Jewels from the four
- 16:51Speaker 1: two five and listening to your show about Wendy Oh,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I saw the Plasmatics in Southern California. Another Southern California
- 16:57Speaker 1: thing here in nineteen eighty one, put on by krooq
- 17:00Speaker 1: K Rock the punk station. It was insane and super loud,
- 17:03Speaker 1: and Wendy acts the shit. I having an old TV
- 17:06Speaker 1: and it was everything we hope for. Thanks for the memories,
- 17:08Speaker 1: Rock Arola. You got a Jules that was a little
- 17:12Speaker 1: more PG. Appreciate that if you can call Wendy O. Williams,
- 17:16Speaker 1: PG for one, writes in well unexpected mention of the
- 17:20Speaker 1: Strokes in the Wendy O. Williams episode, Ah, I'm blanking.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I'm blanking on the Strokes being mentioned in the Wendy O.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Williams episode. But I'm reading this text because there's a
- 17:30Speaker 1: new Strokes book coming out and I'm excited about it.
- 17:33Speaker 1: It's not all about the Strokes, it's about the era.
- 17:37Speaker 1: That era that's sort of like post post grunge, early
- 17:41Speaker 1: aughts New York era. This is kind of the same
- 17:45Speaker 1: world as Meet Me in the Bathroom. This one's by
- 17:47Speaker 1: Stephen Haden. He's a great music journalist and I'm stoked
- 17:50Speaker 1: to check this out. Once I read it, I will
- 17:52Speaker 1: let you know if there's anything disgrace Landy in there
- 17:55Speaker 1: for us. Sure there will be, and I'm sure some
- 17:58Speaker 1: of you will read the book as well, and we
- 17:59Speaker 1: can talk about it here. Speaking of books, speaking of reading,
- 18:03Speaker 1: I should say here in Jim Morrison, we can disgrace
- 18:06Speaker 1: land Something I didn't mention in this week's episode, but
- 18:08Speaker 1: I'm going to do here in the After Party Bonus
- 18:10Speaker 1: episode was the origin of the Door's band name from
- 18:14Speaker 1: an essay that I've never read, so this is kind
- 18:17Speaker 1: of a reading recommendation, I guess for myself. Anyways, Okay,
- 18:20Speaker 1: were you guys aware that Jim Morrison took the name
- 18:23Speaker 1: for his band The Doors from Aljuis Huxley's essay The
- 18:27Speaker 1: Doors of Perception, and that Huxley's title was inspired by
- 18:32Speaker 1: his experimentation with Mesclin. Now I knew this one of
- 18:36Speaker 1: those things I knew but I've kind of forgotten about.
- 18:39Speaker 1: This makes sense given all that we've come to know
- 18:41Speaker 1: about the Lizard King. The Doors, of course, broke on
- 18:45Speaker 1: through into the mainstream in nineteen sixty seven with their
- 18:48Speaker 1: self titled debut album I Believe We're going to just
- 18:52Speaker 1: take ourselves back here. The Doors were massive, huge, instantly
- 18:56Speaker 1: almost okay, And I believe part of the reason, part
- 19:00Speaker 1: of their appeal anyways, was their name, the Doors. Think
- 19:04Speaker 1: about it, The Doors? What did it mean? The Doors?
- 19:07Speaker 1: It had to mean something else otherwise, why weren't they
- 19:10Speaker 1: called the Chairs or the tables. The Doors had a
- 19:13Speaker 1: mystique intrigue. You can hear it in the opening notes
- 19:17Speaker 1: of their first single, break on Through, and you can
- 19:19Speaker 1: see it on the cover of their first album and
- 19:22Speaker 1: to my point, you can feel it in their name,
- 19:24Speaker 1: The Doors. All this begs the question is a band
- 19:28Speaker 1: name cool because of the name itself or does the
- 19:31Speaker 1: coolness of the band make their band name cool. Either way,
- 19:35Speaker 1: The Doors are one of the greatest bands to ever
- 19:37Speaker 1: do it. And you can, of course hear more about
- 19:39Speaker 1: the band and the death of singer Jim Morrison in
- 19:42Speaker 1: this week's full episode of Disgrace and Don't go anywhere. Guys,
- 19:45Speaker 1: gonna be right back after this with your emails and more.
- 20:00Speaker 1: All right, we are back thanks to joining us once
- 20:02Speaker 1: again in the after party. Before I get into your emails,
- 20:05Speaker 1: I just want to remind you, guys about the Happy
- 20:07Speaker 1: Monday's question most hedonistic wildest band of all times? Six
- 20:14Speaker 1: one seven nine oh six six six three eight Call me.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I'm getting lonely. It's summer. I know you're all out
- 20:21Speaker 1: there hanging out outside, going to cookouts at the beach
- 20:25Speaker 1: watching the World Cup. How fucking awesome is the World Cup? Then,
- 20:28Speaker 1: by the way, I have been sucked into this thing
- 20:31Speaker 1: in a way I completely did not expect. I wasn't
- 20:34Speaker 1: planning on watching this at all. I've never been a
- 20:37Speaker 1: soccer fan really, only to the extent that I've had
- 20:40Speaker 1: to learn about it because of the work we've done
- 20:42Speaker 1: in Sportsland. I've never I've I mean, I guess you know.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I watched Ted Lasso. That's about it. But I have
- 20:49Speaker 1: been completely sucked into all these games, not just the
- 20:52Speaker 1: United States games, all these games. And I don't think
- 20:54Speaker 1: I'm coming out, guys. I think I'm in the wormhole
- 20:56Speaker 1: for good. I think I'm going to find a team
- 20:58Speaker 1: to support. That's what they say. They they say support.
- 21:00Speaker 1: You guys knew that to find a team, a Premier
- 21:03Speaker 1: league team, And I don't know. I mean, I guess
- 21:06Speaker 1: you know, MESSI what right? Like I can root for Miami. Anyways,
- 21:10Speaker 1: that's a big, big digression. Didn't want to talk about
- 21:13Speaker 1: World Cup, but hey, everyone I talked to you is
- 21:14Speaker 1: talking about the World Cup. If you want to talk
- 21:17Speaker 1: about the World Cup, give me a call. Who do
- 21:18Speaker 1: you root for? Six one seven nine or six sixty
- 21:20Speaker 1: six three eight? Voicemail? Text call me, leave me a
- 21:22Speaker 1: voicemail about anything, Send me a text about anything you want,
- 21:25Speaker 1: but most specifically, if you want to get in on
- 21:27Speaker 1: this Happy Monday's conversation for next week's episode, which is
- 21:30Speaker 1: a banger of an episode get at Me. You might
- 21:34Speaker 1: hear your voice here in the after party next week.
- 21:36Speaker 1: All right. You can also email me Disgrace Lampod at
- 21:40Speaker 1: gmail dot com like mister Jose Melndez. Now, I love
- 21:45Speaker 1: this email. This comes from Jose Melndez and the subject
- 21:48Speaker 1: is Hector Levo Levo la voe Yes Levo. Hector Levo,
- 21:55Speaker 1: the Voice salsa singer. Hey, I'm a huge fan of
- 21:59Speaker 1: both your pots and I've been listening to you for
- 22:02Speaker 1: a couple of years now, and I also wondered if
- 22:04Speaker 1: you ever thought about covering a Hispanic musician. I'm a
- 22:07Speaker 1: Puerto Rican who grew up with Salt some music and
- 22:10Speaker 1: have always been fascinated by the musicians that levitate that genre.
- 22:15Speaker 1: One musician in particular, Hector Leveau, the Voice, who is
- 22:18Speaker 1: pretty much on the mount rushmore of Salt Some musicians.
- 22:21Speaker 1: You may have probably seen Mark Anthony's portrayal of Hector
- 22:24Speaker 1: Loveau in the film El Cantante, and although I think
- 22:26Speaker 1: Marc Anthony did a great job, I feel that there
- 22:28Speaker 1: was more that needed to be told. Hector lived a
- 22:31Speaker 1: hard and tragic life, but he will always be remembered
- 22:34Speaker 1: as Elle Cantante. The singer Jose Thank you. I've never
- 22:40Speaker 1: heard of this guy. I'm vague. I have some vague
- 22:44Speaker 1: recollection of a movie poster with Mark Anthony playing playing
- 22:49Speaker 1: a singer, and that's probably what you're referring to here.
- 22:52Speaker 1: And I'm very excited to get into this. Your claim
- 22:55Speaker 1: that he lived a hard and tragic life. I'm guessing
- 22:58Speaker 1: there's some transgression, there's some crime. I'm there. I'm guessing
- 23:01Speaker 1: there will be a way in love. The recommendation. Can't
- 23:04Speaker 1: thank you enough, guys. You got artists you want covered
- 23:07Speaker 1: in Disgraceland. Hit us up. That's where the Happy Mondays
- 23:09Speaker 1: came from. That's where when Dio Williams came from. These
- 23:12Speaker 1: are recommendations from you, guys. Even Jim Morrison's death, all
- 23:15Speaker 1: these stories came from you, guys, and they're coming right
- 23:18Speaker 1: back at you right in the feed. That's how we
- 23:20Speaker 1: do it here, disgracelaandpod at gmail dot com. Get us
- 23:23Speaker 1: your rex six one seven nine oh six six six
- 23:26Speaker 1: three eight voicemail and text. You want a surefire away
- 23:30Speaker 1: to get my attention, you can do so on Patreon
- 23:32Speaker 1: in the chat, which is where I was last night,
- 23:36Speaker 1: asking the discos in the chat if anybody had seen Sugar.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Have you guys seen Sugar? I love this show. I
- 23:41Speaker 1: absolutely love this show. Colin Ferrell. It's on Apple. A
- 23:44Speaker 1: bunch of you started it, some have not, some watched
- 23:47Speaker 1: the first season. Chris on it. This is for you.
- 23:49Speaker 1: You're asking if it improves. You're saying that you weren't
- 23:52Speaker 1: feeling it in the beginning. And I can tell you
- 23:54Speaker 1: that this show gets fantastic. One of the best endings
- 23:59Speaker 1: to season that I've ever seen. Now, it's a pretty
- 24:02Speaker 1: controversial ending of season one. We're in season two now,
- 24:05Speaker 1: just started. That's what I'm asking about it. Zeth not
- 24:08Speaker 1: a fan. He was a fan of the show and
- 24:10Speaker 1: then he saw the ending and he was like, I'm out,
- 24:12Speaker 1: and that happens. I get it. There's still people who
- 24:14Speaker 1: don't like the ending to the Sopranos. I can't do
- 24:17Speaker 1: anything for those people, though. I just you know, they
- 24:18Speaker 1: got to live their lives. That's on them, not on me. Okay,
- 24:22Speaker 1: the same thing here. The ending of season one I
- 24:24Speaker 1: thought was great, and season two is fantastic. It's modern noir.
- 24:28Speaker 1: It's a it's a modern version, modern take on Raymond Chandler,
- 24:33Speaker 1: kind of Philip Marlow thing, but it is a little
- 24:36Speaker 1: more fantastical than that, and it looks incredible. It's inspiring
- 24:40Speaker 1: me in a lot of different ways, and I'm here
- 24:41Speaker 1: for it, and a lot of you are. We're talking
- 24:44Speaker 1: about it over in the Patreon chap. Get on in
- 24:46Speaker 1: there with us speaking to movies over in Hollywood Land
- 24:50Speaker 1: in that feed. This week, we've got our archive episode
- 24:53Speaker 1: on James Dean, and James Dean prompted this question from
- 24:57Speaker 1: Zeth of what character from movie history is your favorite rebel.
- 25:02Speaker 1: That's a great question, that's it because I love movies
- 25:06Speaker 1: with anti heroes. We all do. That's kind of why
- 25:08Speaker 1: we're all here together. Anyways, Deeth and I were giving
- 25:11Speaker 1: recommendations on rebel themed content. So Zeth had some fantastic
- 25:16Speaker 1: movies that I'd never heard of that I'm really stoked
- 25:20Speaker 1: to watch rebel movies in this week's rap Party, and
- 25:24Speaker 1: I'm giving rebel song recommendations all right, obviously because of
- 25:28Speaker 1: James Dean and Rebel without a Cause. So make sure
- 25:31Speaker 1: you are subscribed to Hollywood Land on Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio
- 25:35Speaker 1: app where you get your podcast, so you're not missing
- 25:37Speaker 1: that conversation. Also from the world of film in cinema
- 25:41Speaker 1: and movies that we're watching. I've got to watch Do
- 25:43Speaker 1: the Right Thing today and I am happy about that.
- 25:46Speaker 1: It's summertime. Do the Right Thing as one of the
- 25:48Speaker 1: greatest summer movies of all time. That's why I'm watching it.
- 25:52Speaker 1: That's why Zeth is watching it as well, directly because
- 25:56Speaker 1: that is the next episode of this film should be
- 25:59Speaker 1: played loud. This film should be played loud comes to
- 26:02Speaker 1: you via Patreon for our All Access members. Okay, disgrace
- 26:06Speaker 1: lampod dot com to sign up. You're also gonna get
- 26:09Speaker 1: yourself in the chat over there and get into that conversation.
- 26:12Speaker 1: You can do that for free. That doesn't cost anything.
- 26:14Speaker 1: But we love putting this podcast together for you guys
- 26:17Speaker 1: exclusively for our All Access members. The feedback has been fantastic.
- 26:21Speaker 1: The last episode we did on Dazed and Confused was
- 26:24Speaker 1: probably my favorite. Zeth was really really high when we
- 26:27Speaker 1: did that one, and if you want a lot, and
- 26:29Speaker 1: I'm just kidding, he wasn't, but we joke about that anyhow.
- 26:33Speaker 1: It's it's this film should be played loud and it
- 26:37Speaker 1: is available exclusively to our All Access members. Do the
- 26:40Speaker 1: Right Thing is coming up. End of this month July
- 26:42Speaker 1: twenty ninth, and I hadn't mentioned it here because it's
- 26:45Speaker 1: just so obvious. We talk about it every week, but
- 26:47Speaker 1: I should mention for new listeners. This film Should be
- 26:50Speaker 1: Loud isn't just a movie podcast. It is a podcast
- 26:54Speaker 1: about music in movies. It bridges the gap between Disgraceland
- 26:59Speaker 1: and Hall would Land for you guys. All right, all right,
- 27:04Speaker 1: as promised, Zeth and I are about to get into
- 27:07Speaker 1: this conversation discussing some of the most outlandish, insane Jim
- 27:13Speaker 1: Morrison faked his own death theories. All right, can you
- 27:18Speaker 1: spell rodeo clown? That's coming up right now? Go to
- 27:20Speaker 1: disgrace lampod dot com to sign up and listen. Unlock

- 27:39Speaker 1: we're back. But before we get out of here, I
- 27:41Speaker 1: got to pimp out our archive. I don't even know
- 27:44Speaker 1: where to start. I don't know who we mentioned today.
- 27:46Speaker 1: I did just so many episodes. Somebody emailed me about
- 27:49Speaker 1: doing a George Michael episode. Guy, there's a George Michael episode. Okay,
- 27:53Speaker 1: that's in the archive of over two hundred and fifty episodes,
- 27:55Speaker 1: probably two hundred and seventy five episodes by this point.
- 27:58Speaker 1: World Cups got me thinking about Oasis. Got a couple
- 28:00Speaker 1: Oasis episodes in there as well. You can find those.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Matt will have the episode information on these subjects in
- 28:06Speaker 1: the show notes of this after party to make it
- 28:08Speaker 1: easier for you to navigate to those stories should you
- 28:11Speaker 1: want to listen to them. I gotta get out of here.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Like I said, I gotta watch Do the Right Thing. Anyways,
- 28:16Speaker 1: let's recap, shall we. Number one? This week our new

- 29:14Speaker 1: community of the obsessed, and no one cares about music, books,
- 29:17Speaker 1: records in the crime and grime that ties them all
- 29:19Speaker 1: together like you do. And well that's a disgrace, all right.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Back on July third, nineteen seventy one, Jim Morrison was
- 29:25Speaker 1: pronounced dead at the age of twenty seven, and this
- 29:28Speaker 1: is what America was listening to on that day, according
