- 0:26Speaker 1: better every single day.
- 0:30Speaker 3: What's up, guys, This is coach Alex man how on
- 0:31Speaker 3: the Faithful Fitness Podcast. I'm so excited to spend time
- 0:35Speaker 3: with you today and for our awesome guest that I
- 0:38Speaker 3: have for you today. I'm joined this morning by and
- 0:40Speaker 3: I'm going to do my best not to mess your
- 0:42Speaker 3: name up by doctor chi gooset Wassu and please correct me.
- 0:47Speaker 2: How do I say it right?
- 0:49Speaker 4: Dot Chigazi Musu and you were just.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Telling me free show, but I want the listeners to
- 0:54Speaker 3: hear it. What so I'm an English slash Spanish speaking person.
- 0:59Speaker 3: What what is this? This name from? What's the dialect from?
- 1:03Speaker 3: And then we'll get into the awesome conversation we're going
- 1:05Speaker 3: to have today.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Okay, this name is an Ebon in one of the
- 1:09Speaker 5: Nigerian languages is Ebo, because I'm Nigerian originally Nigerian, but
- 1:13Speaker 5: I recited in Canada. So the name is the Nigerian
- 1:18Speaker 5: name ibo or and just simply means God bless me,
- 1:24Speaker 5: because she in Ebo is God.
- 1:27Speaker 4: So the Guzia is blessed me, So God bless.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Me man and and so I did some research on
- 1:34Speaker 3: you prior to this conversation and listen to a lot
- 1:37Speaker 3: of the content that you're putting out on social media,
- 1:39Speaker 3: which is great and extremely encouraging.
- 1:41Speaker 2: By the way, I'm excited to talk about that.
- 1:43Speaker 3: But it's very obvious that that God has blessed you
- 1:47Speaker 3: in your life. And so it's kind of cool in
- 1:49Speaker 3: having a name meaning my name, Alexander means a helper
- 1:53Speaker 3: of men, but in the Greek it's the it's the
- 1:56Speaker 3: derivative of the aspect of hera not much into the
- 2:00Speaker 3: polytheistic stuff, and it literally means the one that the
- 2:05Speaker 3: warriors call.
- 2:06Speaker 2: On to save them when they're pinned down in battle.
- 2:08Speaker 3: And so that has always given me a kind of
- 2:12Speaker 3: like something to move toward, like I want to help
- 2:15Speaker 3: the warriors who are pinned down in battle to fight
- 2:18Speaker 3: the good fight of their life, so to speak, as
- 2:21Speaker 3: Paul said, I've I've fought the good fight. I've finished
- 2:24Speaker 3: the race. He says that in the New Testament. And
- 2:26Speaker 3: so when I think about my name, it gives, it gives,
- 2:30Speaker 3: you know, the name that I believe God gave me
- 2:32Speaker 3: through my mom and dad. It's it's a very powerful
- 2:35Speaker 3: place of meaning for me. Do you find something similar
- 2:37Speaker 3: in your name?
- 2:38Speaker 4: Exactly?
- 2:39Speaker 5: I find it like where or does go and fail?
- 2:43Speaker 5: Somehow I got there even if I struggle. I noticed
- 2:46Speaker 5: that I always scale true and I see it as
- 2:50Speaker 5: the hand of God just helping me or taking me
- 2:52Speaker 5: through all those phases of life.
- 2:56Speaker 4: So if something is very unique.
- 2:57Speaker 5: About my name, and funny enough, the name came before
- 3:00Speaker 5: my delivery.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Because then they were nothing.
- 3:04Speaker 5: There was nothing like okay, let's go and check the
- 3:06Speaker 5: sex of the baby or anything. My dad just said,
- 3:09Speaker 5: this is the name, whether I'm male or female.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Snap, like, here's a boy or girl. This is what
- 3:14Speaker 2: we're naming.
- 3:16Speaker 4: This is what I'm going to name the child. It's more,
- 3:20Speaker 4: but in my place is more but mask cline name.
- 3:24Speaker 4: So to say. The few is mostly guys that onside
- 3:28Speaker 4: what is uni sex? But in my dad's opinion, he said,
- 3:32Speaker 4: this is what my child is going to answer, whether
- 3:34Speaker 4: that male or female. And the name stuck and I
- 3:38Speaker 4: like it.
- 3:39Speaker 2: That's a good name. It's a good name. There's that
- 3:41Speaker 2: old him.
- 3:41Speaker 3: It goes something like, don't worry, I won't quit my
- 3:43Speaker 3: day job. Count name them one by one. It's like
- 3:48Speaker 3: it's like your name is a reminder to do that
- 3:51Speaker 3: every single.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Day, exactly, exactly.
- 3:54Speaker 2: That's awesome. Well, well, on that note.
- 3:56Speaker 3: On that note, we're going to talk about depression today,
- 3:59Speaker 3: which is less depressing then it sounds. We're going to
- 4:01Speaker 3: talk about walking in our purpose, how how faith and
- 4:04Speaker 3: fitness intersect those things.
- 4:06Speaker 2: But but before I do that, you have.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Accomplished a lot professionally, and the listener's just heard your
- 4:12Speaker 3: background as author, speaker, doctor, that you have accomplished a
- 4:16Speaker 3: lot professionally. However, it sounds like you you encountered some
- 4:20Speaker 3: sort of shift that that brought you to be the
- 4:24Speaker 3: founder of the organization the Brave Minds Hub that you
- 4:28Speaker 3: you are, that you founded and that you're running today.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Can you talk about that shift for I guess, first
- 4:34Speaker 3: of all, Nigeria becoming a doctor.
- 4:37Speaker 2: That's a big deal, A lot of lot. I saw
- 4:39Speaker 2: a lot of.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Pictures of you with a stethoscope around you, surrounded by
- 4:43Speaker 3: people you're you're helping them, and it looks like a
- 4:46Speaker 3: very powerful practice that you were a part of. But
- 4:49Speaker 3: but there was a shift in your life that brought you,
- 4:51Speaker 3: obviously to Canada and also obviously to to do what
- 4:55Speaker 3: you're doing now. So can you talk about how you
- 4:58Speaker 3: became a doctor and then what shift happened in your
- 5:01Speaker 3: life that said, hey, I need to I need to
- 5:03Speaker 3: make a change here.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Okay, thank you very much for this opportunity.
- 5:08Speaker 5: And it's something I like sharing because it's my journey
- 5:12Speaker 5: of finding my feet. I college finding my feet because
- 5:16Speaker 5: sometimes a lot of people in financial stability is fulfillment.
- 5:22Speaker 4: In my case, it was different.
- 5:26Speaker 5: So I found myself right from my undergraduate days. My
- 5:30Speaker 5: voice counted even amongst my friends, my colleagues.
- 5:35Speaker 4: I always had people coming, what do you think about this?
- 5:38Speaker 5: And at the end of the day, I noticed my
- 5:40Speaker 5: voice counted even when I'm in meetings. I had the
- 5:44Speaker 5: opportunity to be a vice president in one of the
- 5:47Speaker 5: campus fellowships right as an undergraduate, so I noticed even
- 5:51Speaker 5: when we had all meetings from different campus fellowships. When
- 5:55Speaker 5: executive from different campus fellowships come together and they are
- 5:59Speaker 5: talking and I've not said anything, the fascilitators will just
- 6:02Speaker 5: be looking at me like she has not said something,
- 6:05Speaker 5: and before they concluded to be like she got there.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Do you have anything to say? What do you have
- 6:10Speaker 5: to say about this that we are discussing? So and
- 6:13Speaker 5: when I stand up to talk, I do not prepare
- 6:16Speaker 5: what I want to say, but it just happens that
- 6:19Speaker 5: whatever comes out of my mouth make a great contribution
- 6:23Speaker 5: to that.
- 6:24Speaker 4: It moved from that.
- 6:26Speaker 5: I noticed I was I steed being invited to speak
- 6:28Speaker 5: at events and it did not stop that. I found
- 6:32Speaker 5: myself speak to over a five hundred capacity of women. Yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 5: and I noticed even those that were older than me
- 6:42Speaker 5: way well, like I qualify to.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Be your daughter.
- 6:46Speaker 5: But they come asking questions and I'm asking myself, what
- 6:51Speaker 5: is this to your voice that you do not understand
- 6:56Speaker 5: or that.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Is changing lives?
- 6:58Speaker 5: And I noticed I have this desire I cannot see
- 7:02Speaker 5: where injustice has been done and I keep quiet even
- 7:06Speaker 5: if it's going to.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Take anything from me.
- 7:08Speaker 5: I just noticed I stepped forward, and I get irritated
- 7:12Speaker 5: when others keep quiet in the face of injustice.
- 7:16Speaker 4: So I noticed this is a part of me that
- 7:18Speaker 4: I didn't work like.
- 7:20Speaker 5: No matter how much I try to suppress it, it
- 7:23Speaker 5: just doesn't work. I have to speak up for anybody,
- 7:27Speaker 5: and I have to speak up. But then back home,
- 7:30Speaker 5: I noticed there was.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Something that was raining.
- 7:32Speaker 5: Then this was sexual violence, and they were people handled.
- 7:37Speaker 4: It wasn't okay with me.
- 7:39Speaker 5: It was one of the things that informed my decision
- 7:43Speaker 5: to do a research or assessment of sexual violence and
- 7:47Speaker 5: more than produate students, so because I like fats and figures.
- 7:52Speaker 5: After I did that research, I actually found out that
- 7:55Speaker 5: most of the people that had gone through this, it
- 7:58Speaker 5: happened in their homes either by relatives, nannies or helps,
- 8:04Speaker 5: and their parents didn't know and they've lived with this.
- 8:07Speaker 5: And I also found out from that research that most
- 8:11Speaker 5: of those activities were under reported.
- 8:14Speaker 4: That's because some of them felt they will not be believed.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Some of them.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Felt is a family, and some of them were told
- 8:22Speaker 5: not to speak because it was going to the family
- 8:27Speaker 5: out there.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Can you hear me, Yes, I can hear you. I
- 8:31Speaker 3: was saying, Oh no, that's that's such a terrible thing
- 8:33Speaker 3: to find out.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Yeah, So after that study, I didn't just stop there
- 8:39Speaker 5: because I'm someone that is solutionally ovented. I started campaign
- 8:43Speaker 5: against sexual violence. That was what led to my founding
- 8:47Speaker 5: of the first NGO that I founded in Nigeria, which
- 8:52Speaker 5: was Naked Tahop Foundation. And I did that used it
- 8:57Speaker 5: to go to different high school elementary schools talking to teachers,
- 9:02Speaker 5: talking to students about on the standard detailtale signs of
- 9:07Speaker 5: sexual violence and how it is important that they speak
- 9:11Speaker 5: of when things like this happened. It grew like wildfire
- 9:14Speaker 5: because I went to over nineteen schools talking about it
- 9:19Speaker 5: and letting people know. At every point in time, I
- 9:22Speaker 5: made sure this happened. And while doing this, I was
- 9:25Speaker 5: I had graduated even from school and I was practicing
- 9:28Speaker 5: as a doctor. But I found it's something interesting to do,
- 9:32Speaker 5: Like I wake up, I just want people to live happily.
- 9:36Speaker 5: I want people to understand, Oh, irrespective of this thing happened,
- 9:40Speaker 5: I can actually overcome me. So I noticed a lot
- 9:43Speaker 5: of messages take coming and I saw myself scaling and
- 9:48Speaker 5: it doing it even side by side with my practice.
- 9:53Speaker 5: And I also noticed while doing this that when you
- 9:57Speaker 5: get to the rural areas, accests to medical care reduced
- 10:01Speaker 5: as those as against those in the city, and I
- 10:04Speaker 5: looked for a way to help as well. I'm always
- 10:07Speaker 5: solution oriented and through my Angie, well what I would do.
- 10:11Speaker 4: God blessed me with that my voice.
- 10:13Speaker 5: I said, any pharmaceutical company I write email to and
- 10:17Speaker 5: they say, okay, let's have a meeting with you. By
- 10:19Speaker 5: the time I'm done with the meeting, they supply all
- 10:21Speaker 5: the medications I need for the outreach free of charge.
- 10:25Speaker 5: And that's how I tell my friends who is ready
- 10:27Speaker 5: to volunteer. I get volunteers of doctors, I get volunteers
- 10:31Speaker 5: of nurses, again, volunteers of pharmacists, and I.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Move these people in it. But sometimes I spend my
- 10:37Speaker 4: money for transportation. But I didn't mind. God so kind.
- 10:40Speaker 4: I had a partner that.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Was also very supportive, so whatever vision that comes up,
- 10:45Speaker 5: and he said, if God said we should do, he
- 10:47Speaker 5: will support me whole m his caliber and everything goes
- 10:55Speaker 5: so well. So I found out this was happening in
- 10:58Speaker 5: my life, and at the end of it, a lot
- 11:01Speaker 5: of people were affected positively. They have so many testimonies
- 11:06Speaker 5: from the treatment. Because when I'm going on this, I
- 11:09Speaker 5: do not know the people I was going to meet.
- 11:11Speaker 5: So before we start, we had a culture of prayer.
- 11:15Speaker 5: We would pray with everyone coming and I just don't
- 11:18Speaker 5: go with anybody. You should understand this was a ministry.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Even though I was a medical doctor board, this was
- 11:25Speaker 5: like a ministry to me. So I need people to
- 11:29Speaker 5: be whole, not just physically but also spiritually, and I
- 11:33Speaker 5: was to that.
- 11:35Speaker 4: So I was doing that back in Nigeria. And I
- 11:38Speaker 4: also know.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Anywhere I go, no matter how much I try to hide,
- 11:45Speaker 5: I can't hide.
- 11:46Speaker 4: There is always that thing that will make someone pick
- 11:49Speaker 4: me out.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Even if I'm at the bat, somebody will always be
- 11:52Speaker 5: you there, What do you have to say? And you know,
- 11:55Speaker 5: initially I didn't take note of this until I came
- 11:59Speaker 5: to Canada and there was a shift which when I
- 12:04Speaker 5: started my first job, there was a chapel in the
- 12:08Speaker 5: hospital there. So during my launch, I was just going
- 12:11Speaker 5: to the chapel and understand how the system here works.
- 12:13Speaker 5: In that same chapel, you heard it. You have the
- 12:15Speaker 5: Hindu section, the Muslim section, the Christians section. Just come
- 12:19Speaker 5: face your own side and pray or prayer and go.
- 12:22Speaker 5: I didn't mind.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Working there face the altar of the Christians. I was my.
- 12:30Speaker 5: Routine during lunchtime. But one of these days I walked
- 12:36Speaker 5: in there to pray. I met a lady that was
- 12:39Speaker 5: inside it crying, weeping. So when I closed my eye
- 12:44Speaker 5: to pray, the spirital girl said, go and pray with her.
- 12:46Speaker 5: I said, I an immigrants. She can't say I embarrassed her.
- 12:50Speaker 5: I did anything to her. I was just battling with
- 12:52Speaker 5: the spirital guy. I said, if there is anything I
- 12:54Speaker 5: have to do in this lady's life, let her be
- 12:56Speaker 5: the one to stand up and come and meet me
- 12:58Speaker 5: where I am because I can't moved to her. I
- 13:02Speaker 5: did not even finish that statement. She just moved to
- 13:05Speaker 5: where I was, brought out her to hands know what spoken?
- 13:09Speaker 5: I held her hand and I prayed my heart out.
- 13:13Speaker 5: So after praying my heart, that was when I even
- 13:16Speaker 5: asked what the problem was, and I was happy to
- 13:18Speaker 5: hear that God sorted that issue out.
- 13:21Speaker 4: After that, I had.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Opportunity to talk just in a small organization about depression,
- 13:27Speaker 5: and that was like something that triggered the wildfire. I
- 13:31Speaker 5: noticed a lot of people still working up to me
- 13:34Speaker 5: about depression.
- 13:35Speaker 4: What did I say in that meeting?
- 13:37Speaker 5: I met people understand that being a medical professional, I
- 13:40Speaker 5: understand the treatment of depression. I understand how these things work.
- 13:45Speaker 5: I understand the medical aspect, I understand the therapeutic aspect.
- 13:49Speaker 5: I understand everything you can think of about it. But
- 13:53Speaker 5: then there was something I said. I said, understand that
- 13:57Speaker 5: there is always a place for divinity in everything that
- 14:01Speaker 5: we do.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Irrespective of the fact that science have said.
- 14:05Speaker 5: This is the cause of depression, I will have to
- 14:08Speaker 5: take it into the bibliicer aspect for people to understand
- 14:12Speaker 5: that behind depression is the spirit of heaviness. Behind every
- 14:17Speaker 5: anxiety is the spirit of fear. Behind every confusion is
- 14:22Speaker 5: the spirit of lies. That's the devil telling you big lies.
- 14:26Speaker 5: And behind every torment is the spirit of oppression. So
- 14:30Speaker 5: you can't cancel out what needs to be cast out.
- 14:33Speaker 5: That was my stand about depression, because when you have
- 14:37Speaker 5: done all this and someone still comes back every.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Year with the same thing, why not try this.
- 14:44Speaker 5: That was were my perception of bringing the biblicer aspect
- 14:48Speaker 5: to depression came. Because you've taken pails, you've gone through therapy,
- 14:53Speaker 5: you've gone through counseling, yet every year you are back
- 14:58Speaker 5: to square one, or you are up today, you are
- 15:01Speaker 5: down tomorrow. That is absolutely not the wish of God
- 15:05Speaker 5: for our life. He said, I wish above all things
- 15:08Speaker 5: that our mayors prosper, even as that is so prosperous.
- 15:11Speaker 4: So if your physical health is not prospering.
- 15:14Speaker 5: How you're so prosper I looked at it from that aspect,
- 15:18Speaker 5: and I began to talk to several of these people,
- 15:22Speaker 5: and I start asking them, will you want to share
- 15:24Speaker 5: your story as we go through this journey? And a
- 15:28Speaker 5: few of them were willing to share their story, and
- 15:31Speaker 5: I was happy to document. And one of the promises
- 15:34Speaker 5: I made was the way I would document it. Nobody
- 15:37Speaker 5: will know is your story except you tell them. So
- 15:40Speaker 5: I maxed it with names, and as much as I can,
- 15:43Speaker 5: nobody is able to tell who owns rich story. And
- 15:45Speaker 5: I was what led to the writing of my book,
- 15:48Speaker 5: Overcoming Depression. I remember I finished writing that book and
- 15:53Speaker 5: I was asking myself, is this book really what it's like?
- 15:57Speaker 5: Is this something that should go out there? And one
- 16:00Speaker 5: of those meetings I had attended and this woman of
- 16:03Speaker 5: God was preaching and pray. She didn't know me from anywhere.
- 16:07Speaker 5: I had not told anybody about that book. I was
- 16:10Speaker 5: the person that knew about that book, and this lady
- 16:13Speaker 5: got to me. As she laid hands to pray, she
- 16:17Speaker 5: was like, I saw you writing a book. Where is it?
- 16:21Speaker 5: Go and publish that book? And that was that was
- 16:26Speaker 5: the day I knew, Like I just said.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Okay, from where I.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Don't I said, okay, you need to go out now.
- 16:36Speaker 5: That was what brought about the betting of that book.
- 16:40Speaker 5: And lo and behold, the day of the book launch,
- 16:43Speaker 5: somebody stood up. One of the persons that struggled with
- 16:46Speaker 5: depression stood up and said she was diagnosed that seventeen
- 16:50Speaker 5: years as at the time I was doing my book lunch,
- 16:52Speaker 5: she was almost fifty years. But she said something in
- 16:56Speaker 5: that book launch that broke the whole. She said, when
- 17:00Speaker 5: I read this her book for the first time in
- 17:03Speaker 5: my life, in that my book long, she said, that
- 17:06Speaker 5: was the first time she was openly talking about her
- 17:09Speaker 5: journey with depression without being scared, without feeling fear, and
- 17:14Speaker 5: without feeling anything of any sort.
- 17:17Speaker 4: And the whole broke into too.
- 17:20Speaker 5: I was like, when I looked up and I looked down,
- 17:23Speaker 5: I found ful humans.
- 17:24Speaker 4: I said, if this was the only thing I have achieved,
- 17:27Speaker 4: I am happy. I didn't hide it. I said it
- 17:29Speaker 4: in the whole.
- 17:30Speaker 5: I said, if this one person was the only person
- 17:33Speaker 5: I have achieved helping I think I have achieved the
- 17:36Speaker 5: Lord and God so kind. She happened to be a
- 17:39Speaker 5: new Foundland that as a Canadian that is still from
- 17:43Speaker 5: the same place where I am staying. And I thank
- 17:47Speaker 5: God for that opportunity. And I told myself, Karan, there workplace.
- 17:52Speaker 5: People come to me with their birden even marriage, bodying,
- 17:55Speaker 5: child birthing, and I'm like, these are not my the
- 18:00Speaker 5: cow issues, right, So how do I reach out to
- 18:05Speaker 5: this population of individuals? Hanging my stethoscope on my neck?
- 18:09Speaker 5: What else can I do? And I went on a
- 18:12Speaker 5: journey of discovery. Where do I find myself that I
- 18:17Speaker 5: can reach to these people outside of medicine? How do
- 18:22Speaker 5: I reach to this people? How do I give hope
- 18:25Speaker 5: to the whole place? How do I make a person happy?
- 18:30Speaker 5: Because I want to be the reason why somebody else's
- 18:33Speaker 5: pain is gone? So how do I reach to this
- 18:37Speaker 5: population of individuals? And the pressure worked so much because
- 18:43Speaker 5: I started another research and that research was also get
- 18:48Speaker 5: to finding out people that people are grieving a whole
- 18:51Speaker 5: lot grieving not over just lots of loved ones. People
- 18:56Speaker 5: are grieving over lots of relationship, diverse, marriage of money, mortgage,
- 19:02Speaker 5: many things.
- 19:03Speaker 4: How do mhmm? These people?
- 19:10Speaker 5: That was when I first see not happy and still
- 19:13Speaker 5: not finding fulfillment, and that was what led to the
- 19:17Speaker 5: bettering of Brave Minds Hope, which is a coaching training
- 19:21Speaker 5: and a place where you can come and we find
- 19:24Speaker 5: out exactly what the problem is so that we can
- 19:28Speaker 5: walk you through it.
- 19:30Speaker 4: What do are you? I do fath based empowerment program.
- 19:34Speaker 5: That's basically what I do because I understand where you
- 19:38Speaker 5: are coming from, and I also know, okay, this is
- 19:42Speaker 5: where you want to get to because I really want
- 19:44Speaker 5: to see everyone live a life of purples. That's the
- 19:47Speaker 5: reason we're created, because you know, you can actually go
- 19:51Speaker 5: through this life with all the titles, with everything. Sometimes
- 19:53Speaker 5: I look at all my certificates and I'm asking myself.
- 19:57Speaker 4: What all this for?
- 19:59Speaker 5: You know, in your quest, in your quest to like fight,
- 20:03Speaker 5: who are you? You may not necessarily understand that what
- 20:06Speaker 5: you are looking for is actually there with you. I
- 20:08Speaker 5: think that was one of the things that happened to
- 20:10Speaker 5: me until I began to look within, what is this?
- 20:13Speaker 4: Why am I having this quest? Every year?
- 20:15Speaker 5: You're adding certificate, so why is there this desire.
- 20:21Speaker 4: To feel something that is not being fulled.
- 20:25Speaker 5: That was when I began to search myself and I
- 20:27Speaker 5: found out, okay, very respective of all these titles, you
- 20:31Speaker 5: need to live in purpose and evenly allowed me to
- 20:35Speaker 5: also starting a YouTube channel on Brave Minds Help. It's
- 20:38Speaker 5: still the name of the YouTube channel, and that's where
- 20:41Speaker 5: I talk about purpose, I talk about grief, I talk
- 20:44Speaker 5: about those things that can help your relationship with.
- 20:47Speaker 4: God and I'm happy doing these.
- 20:49Speaker 5: These are things that even if you don't pay me,
- 20:51Speaker 5: I will willingly do it.
- 20:53Speaker 4: So this this.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Is how I found out, Okay, I need to be
- 20:58Speaker 5: here doing this, and that was what brought me to
- 21:02Speaker 5: coaching and training because I really want to understand people's personality.
- 21:07Speaker 5: I didn't just jump into it because I'm someone that
- 21:10Speaker 5: whatever I want to do, I want to do it well.
- 21:12Speaker 5: I went through your MAX for certification for Human behavioral
- 21:16Speaker 5: and at least yeah, I'm your ass well certified for.
- 21:24Speaker 4: It's consultants and trainer.
- 21:26Speaker 5: So I went here to actually say that he's been
- 21:29Speaker 5: one deerful and I've been happy doing it.
- 21:33Speaker 4: And you know, there is something that the Spirit of
- 21:35Speaker 4: God does.
- 21:35Speaker 5: It gives us boldness and he calls your names in
- 21:38Speaker 5: rooms where nobody else will be able to call your name.
- 21:43Speaker 4: I think that's what that has been happening to me. Yeah,
- 21:47Speaker 4: I hope I have had your question.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, and thank you for sharing the testimony. It's
- 21:51Speaker 3: very very clear there's something that Christ said. Out of
- 21:54Speaker 3: the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, and obviously
- 21:57Speaker 3: that's that's where where you live. But also in your story,
- 22:02Speaker 3: and I kind of for the listener, I want to
- 22:03Speaker 3: recap the story just a little bit and then pick
- 22:06Speaker 3: out a few things that I'd like to talk to
- 22:07Speaker 3: you about throughout that that story, because I think it's
- 22:10Speaker 3: pertinent and important. But but if I heard you correctly,
- 22:14Speaker 3: then you achieved your medical licensure in Nigeria, and through
- 22:21Speaker 3: your practice, you noticed that there was there was a
- 22:27Speaker 3: rampant problem of sexual abuse that was happening in the
- 22:32Speaker 3: both in the community but in the surrounding community. And
- 22:35Speaker 3: and a lot of people know that. A lot of
- 22:39Speaker 3: people know that, at least here in the US, we
- 22:41Speaker 3: know it's a problem. However, not everybody wants to step
- 22:45Speaker 3: into that issue and certainly not talk about it, and
- 22:49Speaker 3: certainly not in school, you know. So, so that's that's
- 22:52Speaker 3: very bold and courageous of you. I think what's interesting
- 22:55Speaker 3: is I hear this thread of courage throughout your story
- 22:59Speaker 3: and out necessarily I don't think you would claim courage.
- 23:02Speaker 3: You actually kind of said it was like a like
- 23:04Speaker 3: a flaw you were trying to fix. Like I can't
- 23:06Speaker 3: see injustice and not say something about it.
- 23:10Speaker 2: That's what you said. It is like I can't I
- 23:12Speaker 2: can't keep my mouth shut.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Lah and and so and so. You you stepped into that.
- 23:16Speaker 3: And then you saw that in the rural communities.
- 23:19Speaker 2: We say rural.
- 23:20Speaker 3: It's really hard to say rule in Arkansas, we just
- 23:23Speaker 3: put it all together.
- 23:24Speaker 2: It's like r O O O L rule.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, but you saw that in rural communities there was
- 23:31Speaker 3: no there was very very low quality healthcare of any
- 23:35Speaker 3: and and you saw that problem too and then stepped
- 23:39Speaker 3: into it. And not only did you step into it,
- 23:41Speaker 3: but you saw it as a ministry, which I imagine
- 23:43Speaker 3: is why God continued to make sure that you had
- 23:45Speaker 3: all the resources that you need, that you had all
- 23:48Speaker 3: the volunteers that you needed, and that it that it
- 23:50Speaker 3: continued to move forward well. And then in coming to
- 23:54Speaker 3: Canada and launching, you finished writing your book about depression
- 23:59Speaker 3: and launching it. I actually I wrote a book called
- 24:02Speaker 3: faith Full Fitness. It's coming out next month, and I
- 24:06Speaker 3: remember that was the hardest thing I've ever done, was
- 24:10Speaker 3: to sit down and write this book.
- 24:11Speaker 2: It was the hardest thing I've ever done. I'm not
- 24:14Speaker 2: much of a writer, and I but like it. It's
- 24:17Speaker 2: a good book, Like it's actually a good book.
- 24:19Speaker 3: But I remember thinking, if this helps one person, if
- 24:22Speaker 3: one person can can find where their faith and fitness
- 24:26Speaker 3: intersect and take better care of their body and live
- 24:29Speaker 3: out their faith more fully and holy, then this was
- 24:31Speaker 3: one hundred percent worth it. And you did that with
- 24:34Speaker 3: your Overcoming Depression book. You got to see that, and
- 24:38Speaker 3: it's out there the links in the description below. If
- 24:41Speaker 3: you wrestle with depression, if you've tried all the stuff
- 24:44Speaker 3: and you're like I'm up and I'm down, and I'm
- 24:47Speaker 3: up and I'm down, I want you to go pick
- 24:48Speaker 3: up this book because what you just heard is the
- 24:53Speaker 3: testimony of somebody who is helping individuals step forward courageously
- 24:59Speaker 3: into their own.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Purpose despite obstacles.
- 25:04Speaker 3: And I think that's really the thing in Overcoming Depression
- 25:07Speaker 3: that's worth worth diving into. But that led you to
- 25:11Speaker 3: starting the Brave Mind's Hub because people were coming to
- 25:14Speaker 3: you with really non medical problems, and so I want
- 25:19Speaker 3: to I want to dig into that a little bit,
- 25:21Speaker 3: because not a lot of physicians talk about this, but
- 25:24Speaker 3: a lot of physicians know it. Kind of like the
- 25:26Speaker 3: sexual abuse thing, or the rural community thing, or the
- 25:29Speaker 3: depression thing.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Physicians understand.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Many of them understand that the health problems that we see,
- 25:39Speaker 3: things like blood pressure issues, things like diabetes, things like depression.
- 25:45Speaker 3: The health problems that we see might not be one
- 25:48Speaker 3: hundred percent because of lifestyle habits and daily living and circumstances.
- 25:53Speaker 2: But a lot of it is a lot.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Of the things that we see in symptoms or in
- 25:58Speaker 3: chronic disease specifically come from come from things that we're
- 26:04Speaker 3: living every day. For instance, Let's say I have an
- 26:06Speaker 3: extremely stressful job, and i know on a regular basis
- 26:11Speaker 3: that I'm not showing up well for my family. I
- 26:14Speaker 3: know that I'm very stressed all the time. I'm not
- 26:16Speaker 3: getting enough rest, i feel regularly defeated, like I'm not
- 26:20Speaker 3: moving I might be really successful in my work, but
- 26:24Speaker 3: I'm not moving forward in my ultimate purpose, and that
- 26:27Speaker 3: stress shows up inside of my body.
- 26:30Speaker 2: It's not just here. It shows up in the way
- 26:33Speaker 2: my heart.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Beats, and in the way my my arteries and veins,
- 26:39Speaker 3: how they expand and contract, and how they how they function,
- 26:42Speaker 3: and so my blood pressure goes up. And in the
- 26:45Speaker 3: medical community, if I'm a doctor seeing a patient and
- 26:49Speaker 3: I see your blood pressures high, I can't change your job.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I can't. I can't coach you through finding your purpose.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I can't.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I'm not. I'm not talking to you about how to
- 27:01Speaker 3: manage your family relationships better. But I can chemically or
- 27:07Speaker 3: pharmaceutically treat your blood pressure. So I give you a
- 27:10Speaker 3: pill and you walk away and you have slightly lower
- 27:13Speaker 3: blood pressure. Medically speaking, we're in a good spot. But
- 27:18Speaker 3: the things that led me to my blood pressure being
- 27:23Speaker 3: a problem, they still exist and they're still unsolved.
- 27:28Speaker 2: They're still unmitigated.
- 27:29Speaker 3: So so I'd like to I'd like to ask you,
- 27:33Speaker 3: is that an element of the of the Brave Minds
- 27:37Speaker 3: practice and philosophy is let's dig into what's going on
- 27:43Speaker 3: that may or may not be showing up medically for you,
- 27:47Speaker 3: but isn't necessarily a medical problem.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Is that something you guys strive to do.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Yes, Like when people come and they tell you I'm
- 27:58Speaker 5: not able to sleep because I just lost some money,
- 28:04Speaker 5: or I'm not able to sleep, or I've not slept
- 28:07Speaker 5: for days because my boyfriend left me. Or the person
- 28:12Speaker 5: is coming to you with insomnia, but is insomnia I
- 28:15Speaker 5: really the problem?
- 28:16Speaker 4: Sorry, let me not use medical term.
- 28:18Speaker 5: The person is coming with you with inability to sleep,
- 28:21Speaker 5: but is the problem inability to sleep?
- 28:26Speaker 4: That's the thing.
- 28:27Speaker 5: So looking at it, it's not just looking at what's
- 28:32Speaker 5: the person before you is saying. Look at what the
- 28:36Speaker 5: person is not saying?
- 28:39Speaker 3: Well, can I can I share an example with you?
- 28:43Speaker 3: So I was at a prayer meeting and a woman
- 28:48Speaker 3: came forward for prayer, and I said, what do you
- 28:53Speaker 3: need me to pray over you? And my wife was
- 28:54Speaker 3: standing next to me, and you know this lady, she
- 28:57Speaker 3: was obviously shaken up, and she's said, she said, I
- 29:02Speaker 3: don't have any illnesses, but I'm terrified that I'm going to.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Get sick and die.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Like that's like, that's what she was terrified of, That's
- 29:12Speaker 3: what she wanted prayer over. And and something in me
- 29:17Speaker 3: was like, that's not what we're praying over you. So
- 29:21Speaker 3: I thought for a second, and then I said, I said,
- 29:23Speaker 3: have you lost a family?
- 29:25Speaker 2: Member who died.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Suddenly, just came down with an illness unexpectedly and died.
- 29:32Speaker 3: And she goes, yeah, actually three years ago, and she
- 29:36Speaker 3: was telling me about her mother in law, who who
- 29:38Speaker 3: she was fine one day. The next day, at like
- 29:41Speaker 3: a family gathering, she fell out and they were trying
- 29:43Speaker 3: to do CPR and save her, and it was really
- 29:45Speaker 3: traumatic for the whole family, and and she ultimately passed.
- 29:49Speaker 2: And I said, I want to pray.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Over that fear, because you're still grieving, You're still wrestling
- 29:57Speaker 3: with that trauma, and that fear isn't isn't what. We're
- 30:02Speaker 3: not praying over your terror of suddenly falling ill. We're
- 30:06Speaker 3: praying for resolution from why God took that family member
- 30:12Speaker 3: and exactly what that looks like in your life. We're
- 30:14Speaker 3: going to pray over that. So we prayed, and she wept,
- 30:17Speaker 3: and you know, my wife was there. We laid hands
- 30:19Speaker 3: on her, and then when we finished, she said, I
- 30:24Speaker 3: never made that connection. I never connected those things, the
- 30:29Speaker 3: fear and anxiety I was feeling about getting sick. You know,
- 30:32Speaker 3: if she got a cough, she's like, oh my gosh,
- 30:34Speaker 3: I have lung cancer or something like that. You know,
- 30:36Speaker 3: She's like, I never made that connection with losing that
- 30:40Speaker 3: family member.
- 30:40Speaker 2: But it was so traumatic and I.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Feel a lot of freedom knowing that these two things
- 30:46Speaker 3: are connected. And so she walked away and it was
- 30:50Speaker 3: it was powerful. I'm not a trained physician. That was
- 30:53Speaker 3: in a prayer meeting. That's the Holy Spirit just guiding,
- 30:58Speaker 3: guiding the conversation, which is good. But but it sounds
- 31:01Speaker 3: like that's you have a passion for that helping people
- 31:04Speaker 3: to understand the symptoms that you're experiencing, like insomnia. I
- 31:09Speaker 3: can't sleep. It's that's not the thing we need to treat.
- 31:13Speaker 3: You know, you don't have a what is like ambient?
- 31:16Speaker 2: Is that a fart?
- 31:17Speaker 3: That's a that's a medication for people who can't sleep. Right,
- 31:20Speaker 3: you don't have an ambient deficiency. We need we need
- 31:24Speaker 3: to understand what's what's got you all tied up, that
- 31:28Speaker 3: that is keeping you from resting. Well so, so I
- 31:33Speaker 3: mean having founded the Brave mindset, how how long has
- 31:35Speaker 3: this been around and what are the kind of things
- 31:37Speaker 3: you're seeing?
- 31:39Speaker 5: It's been around for approximately one year and what I've
- 31:42Speaker 5: been coaching for almost five years, Well I have not
- 31:46Speaker 5: gotten it to this level of woking making it a
- 31:49Speaker 5: business because right now, it's now a business.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Previously it was just what I did out of passion
- 31:56Speaker 4: because I wanted people to be happy.
- 31:59Speaker 5: And it's something any body could just I could, I could.
- 32:02Speaker 5: Somebody could just walk up to me and you're seeing
- 32:04Speaker 5: the person bending crying and I'll just be like, okay,
- 32:07Speaker 5: let me give you time to just finish what is
- 32:10Speaker 5: happening that? Can you do you mind sitting in my car?
- 32:12Speaker 5: Just I will give you a tissue, just let to
- 32:15Speaker 5: easy it off before we talk. And we're all totally strangers.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Probably the person had seen me talk somewhere, probably toody
- 32:27Speaker 5: or heard someone talk to the p And these are
- 32:31Speaker 5: not people coming to me for anything medical. And Brave
- 32:36Speaker 5: Mind's hope is not for treatment of any medical case.
- 32:40Speaker 5: I want to stay that clearly. It's not for the
- 32:42Speaker 5: treatment of any medical case. Brave Mind's hope is to
- 32:47Speaker 5: understand the reason why you go.
- 32:50Speaker 4: Through what you are going through.
- 32:52Speaker 5: We just want to connect that line between what you
- 32:55Speaker 5: were saying and what you are not saying, and we
- 32:58Speaker 5: want to move you from where you are to the
- 33:03Speaker 5: place you ought to bind. Fulfill men, there are also
- 33:06Speaker 5: many rich people that are not fulfilled either. There is
- 33:10Speaker 5: the labs in their marriage or one of their kids,
- 33:14Speaker 5: is something else that they cannot even understand. Or people
- 33:18Speaker 5: are going through one men of personal stage to another
- 33:20Speaker 5: and they do not even understand what is happening to them,
- 33:24Speaker 5: and they are having issues with relationship with their spouse, relationship, workplace, relationship,
- 33:36Speaker 5: even with their trend personalities that exist your own persons.
- 33:41Speaker 5: We have a personality test that you can also take
- 33:44Speaker 5: to understand your own personality, and you will have a
- 33:47Speaker 5: time with me and will explain your personality to you
- 33:51Speaker 5: and also help you understand the personality of the people
- 33:54Speaker 5: you have around your kids, your are, your spouse, even
- 33:58Speaker 5: your goal work. And this in one way or the
- 34:02Speaker 5: other will help people understand why they act.
- 34:06Speaker 4: The way they do or why what is happening happening
- 34:10Speaker 4: to them is happening to them.
- 34:12Speaker 5: And that's when we come in to hold you in stage.
- 34:15Speaker 5: It's through our ten weeks program so that you will
- 34:19Speaker 5: work away happy and step into your papers. The aim
- 34:25Speaker 5: is to find people who will move from where feeling
- 34:28Speaker 5: un fulfilled, feeling like I am not leaving my papers,
- 34:33Speaker 5: from a state of confusion, from a state of I
- 34:36Speaker 5: can't do this, I've had enough and getting them to
- 34:40Speaker 5: where they will live a life of papers that will
- 34:43Speaker 5: give them the fulfillment they want to have in life.
- 34:47Speaker 5: Because whether you are a Christian, you are Hindu, Muslim,
- 34:51Speaker 5: whatever you believe, every damn individual want to live a
- 34:57Speaker 5: happy and a fulfilled life.
- 34:59Speaker 4: That is the truths and.
- 35:01Speaker 5: Whatever is keeping you from living that happy and fulfilled
- 35:04Speaker 5: life is what we want to go step by step
- 35:07Speaker 5: with you to bring you to that state. Some it
- 35:10Speaker 5: could be even loss of jobs. Some immigrants, it could
- 35:14Speaker 5: be they are not happy with what they are doing,
- 35:17Speaker 5: or where they are coming from, or what is happening
- 35:20Speaker 5: in their life.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Because I also come across many immigrants and their struggles,
- 35:26Speaker 4: even struggles at workplace, struggles finding their feet.
- 35:30Speaker 5: But what is to this is behind what are they
- 35:34Speaker 5: saying and what are they not saying? And this is
- 35:37Speaker 5: where we're coming to give you the best training, the
- 35:40Speaker 5: best coaching, and to bring you to where you ought
- 35:43Speaker 5: to be, so that if anyone is even struggling with depression,
- 35:48Speaker 5: just go read my book on depression and that will
- 35:50Speaker 5: give you clarity. Because I did not just write it.
- 35:54Speaker 5: I also wrote the medical aspect, the medical management everything,
- 35:58Speaker 5: and I wrote the spiritual aspect. If you have tried
- 36:02Speaker 5: all the medical aspects, all the therapy, all the counseling,
- 36:06Speaker 5: and you are not making progress. Let's even say you
- 36:10Speaker 5: do not believe in God, just try the spiritual aspect.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Give it a try.
- 36:14Speaker 5: That's what I tell people, because at my book launch
- 36:17Speaker 5: I had Muslims that were there.
- 36:19Speaker 4: You have tried all this and you don't believe in God.
- 36:22Speaker 5: Take this book, go and give it a trial their
- 36:26Speaker 5: God on it, and let's see if something doesn't happen. Yes,
- 36:29Speaker 5: I am that bold because I know what God can do.
- 36:34Speaker 5: And the truth is, because the world system understand that
- 36:39Speaker 5: there is something God can do, they are out at
- 36:43Speaker 5: every point to de mystify whatever they know that God
- 36:47Speaker 5: can do. And that is what is keeping so many
- 36:50Speaker 5: people bound. What is it that people will get so
- 36:55Speaker 5: addicted and addicted to the extent that they will drink
- 36:59Speaker 5: and sleep on the road and they are, Oh my god,
- 37:02Speaker 5: you'll be wondering what kind of bondage is this.
- 37:06Speaker 4: I had somebody woke up to me and was like
- 37:08Speaker 4: she was.
- 37:09Speaker 5: Crying, weeping, and she was like, I picked up smoking
- 37:12Speaker 5: a couple of years back and right now and I'm
- 37:15Speaker 5: struggling with it. What happened. Why did you pick up
- 37:18Speaker 5: smoking because she was having a breakup. And I told myself,
- 37:23Speaker 5: I wish I met you when you were going through
- 37:25Speaker 5: the breakup if I had held your hand. You will
- 37:28Speaker 5: understand that God can take away people from your life
- 37:32Speaker 5: because he needs your attention.
- 37:34Speaker 4: And this is because some of us do not even.
- 37:37Speaker 5: Understand the concept of God dealing with us at every
- 37:40Speaker 5: point in our lives. If you understand that there is
- 37:44Speaker 5: something God can do through every story you feel is
- 37:49Speaker 5: a disgusting story. I usually tell people look for the
- 37:53Speaker 5: finger of God in every story. When Joseph went into
- 37:57Speaker 5: the house of Fortifar, he didn't know what the first
- 38:00Speaker 5: wife was going to accuse him of sexual abuse? Or
- 38:04Speaker 5: was God's hand in it? Yes, So when we look at.
- 38:08Speaker 4: All those things. Even in Job's case, Job lost everything
- 38:12Speaker 4: he heard just in one day. Was God's hand in it? Yes,
- 38:17Speaker 4: he gave the permission for it to happen. But there
- 38:19Speaker 4: was one thing that God said. He said, for everything
- 38:23Speaker 4: you will do, do not touch his soul. And that
- 38:28Speaker 4: was a Job was preserved so understanding that when we
- 38:31Speaker 4: go through fire, he will be there with us. The
- 38:34Speaker 4: only thing is what when you look at it we
- 38:37Speaker 4: say I'm going through this. Now, ask yourself, do I
- 38:40Speaker 4: have a relationship with God? If you do find peace,
- 38:46Speaker 4: if you do not seek his face. Bible called him
- 38:51Speaker 4: a present help in time of trouble, you may have all.
- 38:55Speaker 4: It takes everything. I remember.
- 38:58Speaker 5: I think two years ago, if I'm not mistaken, one
- 39:01Speaker 5: of one of the very rich men in Nigeria committed
- 39:06Speaker 5: a suicide, very rich, and people were like, what is
- 39:11Speaker 5: he looking for? Why will he commit suicide? Did he
- 39:14Speaker 5: lose a contract? Did he do this? And yeah, I
- 39:18Speaker 5: was reading everything they had to say, but in my head,
- 39:22Speaker 5: the only thing I was.
- 39:25Speaker 4: If only these people on this hand.
- 39:33Speaker 2: M and go.
- 39:41Speaker 5: I will look at it from the physical angle, and
- 39:43Speaker 5: I also look at it from the medical angle. And
- 39:46Speaker 5: that's why most times when people tell me I don't
- 39:50Speaker 5: know how I feel, I say, you need to take
- 39:52Speaker 5: out of that body, because that body is the very
- 39:56Speaker 5: who that would take you true fulfilling the purple God.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Brought your way.
- 40:02Speaker 5: If you do not take care of your body to
- 40:04Speaker 5: be physically fit, you cannot carry the papers of God
- 40:09Speaker 5: and you cannot finish well.
- 40:11Speaker 4: That body need to be in great shape for you
- 40:14Speaker 4: to finish well.
- 40:15Speaker 5: And that's why I always tell people, and even when
- 40:18Speaker 5: I'm praying for my kids, I always say, God give
- 40:20Speaker 5: them sound mind, spiritually, physically, socially, and otherwise. Because for
- 40:25Speaker 5: you to function well as a child of God, you
- 40:28Speaker 5: have to be holistic. Why am I saying holistic? God
- 40:31Speaker 5: is an excellent God and he wants us to exude
- 40:35Speaker 5: excellence in everything that we do. So if I do
- 40:37Speaker 5: not have an excellent body, how do I now exude excellence?
- 40:42Speaker 4: And how can I get an excellent body?
- 40:44Speaker 5: It is by hiding my will in God's will and
- 40:48Speaker 5: hiding my papers in God's papers. I can be the
- 40:51Speaker 5: president of a nation. But the thing is this, when
- 40:56Speaker 5: they going gets stuffed? Who do I turant to? When
- 41:01Speaker 5: things are so awful, Like I can't even fight solution
- 41:04Speaker 5: from my friend?
- 41:06Speaker 4: Who do I turnt to?
- 41:09Speaker 5: So these are questions I ask myself because I won't tell.
- 41:13Speaker 4: You that I have not been a high flyer in
- 41:16Speaker 4: my life.
- 41:16Speaker 5: I wouldn't lie about that because people that know me
- 41:19Speaker 5: personally will be like, Oh, she's just trying to be
- 41:22Speaker 5: unnecessarily harm I won't tell you that. But the truth
- 41:25Speaker 5: is this, for every stage in my life, I've always
- 41:29Speaker 5: seen the finger of God. For everything, for every breakthrough,
- 41:34Speaker 5: for every emancipation, or for everything that has happened. When
- 41:39Speaker 5: I look at the pieces, I always see this is
- 41:43Speaker 5: the hand of God.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Because sometimes I can't solve the puzzle. Mhm.
- 41:48Speaker 5: Some people may be able to solve out the puzzles
- 41:50Speaker 5: in their life. I she goes, there, I can't solve
- 41:53Speaker 5: all the puzzles and.
- 41:55Speaker 2: M hm.
- 42:00Speaker 5: And how did I even those times of a deep calling,
- 42:04Speaker 5: that calling that that makes you you can't sleep, that
- 42:09Speaker 5: calling that is you are so heavy, hurted, you are
- 42:12Speaker 5: wondering what is this that I'm not doing. I remember
- 42:15Speaker 5: talking to one of the presenties, was John Maxwell, and
- 42:18Speaker 5: he was looking at me. He stared, He stared. He staid,
- 42:22Speaker 5: he said, don't you think God is calling you to
- 42:25Speaker 5: something deeper? And it was like it struck a cord.
- 42:34Speaker 5: I didn't even understand that everything I was doing was
- 42:37Speaker 5: just like me.
- 42:38Speaker 4: Leaving my calling.
- 42:40Speaker 5: M I was just saying it, Okay, this is what
- 42:43Speaker 5: you want to do. This is what you want to do.
- 42:45Speaker 5: But honestly, coaching and going through training it helped me.
- 42:50Speaker 5: And that's the reason why I decided, okay, I really
- 42:53Speaker 5: need to pass this down by coaching orthers and letting
- 42:57Speaker 5: athers know that the truth is the you may be
- 43:01Speaker 5: at the peak of your career because I'm more interested
- 43:04Speaker 5: interested in professionals, Nazis, doctors, pharmacists, engineers, organizational executives.
- 43:11Speaker 4: They actually think they've arrived.
- 43:14Speaker 5: Boll Deep down, you actually know that there is an
- 43:17Speaker 5: emptiness that needs to be to be filled. But the
- 43:21Speaker 5: thing is you don't know how to feel that emptiness.
- 43:25Speaker 5: I can guarantee them they should come. I give them
- 43:27Speaker 5: eight to ten weeks. Their life will change. And I
- 43:32Speaker 5: said this under God. I give them follow suits everything,
- 43:37Speaker 5: I will coach you through, and I give you ith
- 43:39Speaker 5: to ten weeks. You must have a testimoney. And that's
- 43:43Speaker 5: basically the reason I established Brave Minds Houlp and decided
- 43:47Speaker 5: to go the extra length of registering it and making
- 43:50Speaker 5: it a business in Canada.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that makes sense, and thank you for sharing that.
- 43:55Speaker 3: The fitness corollary that comes to my mind. When I
- 43:59Speaker 3: was a personal train in her twenty years ago, I
- 44:01Speaker 3: would ask somebody what are your goals and they would
- 44:04Speaker 3: say things like, you know, I want to look like
- 44:07Speaker 3: I forget her name and terminator.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Dang it.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Anyway, she was an actress, very sleek arm, she was
- 44:13Speaker 3: in great shape, or I want to look like Heath Ledger,
- 44:16Speaker 3: you know, like and they would they would tell me
- 44:19Speaker 3: these like celebrity things that they were chasing after in
- 44:23Speaker 3: their body and what I saw, and you know, I
- 44:26Speaker 3: hear I want to grow some muscle, I'd like to
- 44:30Speaker 3: get better at burning fat as a fuel source. I
- 44:34Speaker 3: want to feed myself better, you know, I want to
- 44:35Speaker 3: do all those things. But to me, it was all vanity,
- 44:38Speaker 3: Like I understood from a Christian perspective, you know, pursuing
- 44:42Speaker 3: looking like some celebrity is vanity.
- 44:45Speaker 2: And here's the kicker.
- 44:47Speaker 3: I was around all sorts of people in the gym
- 44:50Speaker 3: setting three percent body fat, rippling abs, big biceps, but
- 44:55Speaker 3: they were depressed, or their hormones were messed up, or
- 45:00Speaker 3: or something was going on with their girlfriend. No matter
- 45:02Speaker 3: what kind of shape you saw, there was still things
- 45:06Speaker 3: in life that that were were not only troublesome. But
- 45:10Speaker 3: the abs and the biceps didn't fix it, you know.
- 45:15Speaker 3: And and it's interesting some individuals will use fitness because.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I think fitness is a great thing.
- 45:22Speaker 3: I like to think of the verse that says you
- 45:25Speaker 3: will find me when you seek me with.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Your whole heart.
- 45:28Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm wholeheartedly seeking God? When I'm
- 45:31Speaker 3: in the middle of a workout and i can't go
- 45:33Speaker 3: on by myself and I can feel it, I'm like, Lord,
- 45:35Speaker 3: help me, Like I need, I need to move forward.
- 45:38Speaker 3: This is hard, right that that gets me?
- 45:41Speaker 2: Uh.
- 45:41Speaker 3: But but when when somebody is using fitness to distract
- 45:48Speaker 3: them from pursuing their purpose, like oh, if I if
- 45:52Speaker 3: I could just be more successful losing weight, or if
- 45:55Speaker 3: I could just look better, or that that I want
- 45:59Speaker 3: them to hear, or if they're listening right now, that
- 46:02Speaker 3: fitness can be a powerful part of your spiritual purpose
- 46:06Speaker 3: and your spiritual journey. And as Chegose was saying just
- 46:10Speaker 3: now about how the vessel that we have allows us,
- 46:14Speaker 3: if we take good care of it, allows us to
- 46:16Speaker 3: live out our God given purpose holistically.
- 46:19Speaker 2: But please don't use.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Fitness as a distraction from the difficult things in life.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Please don't use it as an excuse not to finish
- 46:29Speaker 3: your conversation with your wife. Please don't use it as
- 46:33Speaker 3: an excuse not to call your kids. Please don't use
- 46:36Speaker 3: it as an excuse to not deal with the fact
- 46:40Speaker 3: that you might be working in a job that you
- 46:43Speaker 3: don't need to be working in for the rest of
- 46:44Speaker 3: your life, and there might need to be a shift
- 46:46Speaker 3: that God's calling you to. Fitness will not solve those things.
- 46:51Speaker 3: It might make you feel broken down enough that you'll go, okay, okay,
- 46:55Speaker 3: I'm ready to listen.
- 46:56Speaker 2: I'm humbled. Right. It reminds you of humility.
- 47:00Speaker 3: But don't let fitness be a distraction to those things.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Let let fitness be a thing that prepares you and
- 47:08Speaker 3: builds you for the purpose in your life. Before I
- 47:11Speaker 3: move on, is there anything you'd like to say to that,
- 47:14Speaker 3: but before we start to close down our conversation.
- 47:17Speaker 5: Here, Yeah, Well, when you talk about fitness, I like
- 47:22Speaker 5: to say this way. Our body is like their car
- 47:28Speaker 5: that will take us to purpose. If you do not
- 47:33Speaker 5: put garsoline in your car, it can't move. Do not
- 47:47Speaker 5: take care of your physical body. If you do not
- 47:50Speaker 5: finish well, it means you did not finish well. So
- 47:55Speaker 5: you need this body to be in good shape for
- 47:58Speaker 5: you to finish well. And one of the ways this
- 48:01Speaker 5: body can be in good shape is exercise, eating right,
- 48:06Speaker 5: and taking care of yourself.
- 48:09Speaker 4: Yes, I always say this.
- 48:12Speaker 5: You have to know that this body need to be fine.
- 48:17Speaker 5: If you are sick, you can't spray. If you are sick,
- 48:21Speaker 5: you can't. First, if you are sick, you can't study
- 48:25Speaker 5: the word of God and pay rapt attention to it
- 48:28Speaker 5: because your body is asking you for something else. So
- 48:32Speaker 5: understanding this just I always said this. Just know when
- 48:36Speaker 5: to match break and give yourself excus and take care
- 48:41Speaker 5: of your body. I remember I once told one of
- 48:45Speaker 5: my friends there was a period I was really really stressed,
- 48:48Speaker 5: and one of my friends was like, I've been calling
- 48:50Speaker 5: you for days.
- 48:51Speaker 4: What happened.
- 48:53Speaker 5: What I did was iron installed all the apps from
- 48:56Speaker 5: my phone and I put my phone on do not distove.
- 49:02Speaker 5: So if I just told myself, whatever I go, I
- 49:05Speaker 5: will lose this spirit. It is not mine. Let it go.
- 49:10Speaker 4: I need this body.
- 49:11Speaker 5: To be together. That so that I can't finish well.
- 49:14Speaker 5: And I do not just want to finish well. I
- 49:16Speaker 5: want to finish strong as well.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Yes, yes, well said very well said.
- 49:23Speaker 3: As as we wrap up our conversation here, I want
- 49:25Speaker 3: to direct the listeners we have. We have three resources
- 49:28Speaker 3: in the show notes below for you that you can
- 49:30Speaker 3: get connected to. We've got a purpose and clarity guide
- 49:34Speaker 3: that Chi Jose has has given us in the show notes.
- 49:37Speaker 3: We've also got beauty and chaos. I'm checking that one out.
- 49:40Speaker 3: That sounds like a lot of fun. I like, I
- 49:43Speaker 3: like to find beauty in chaos. And then we also
- 49:45Speaker 3: have the book Overcoming Depression, very very powerful platform. Again,
- 49:50Speaker 3: if you've tried all the stuff and you're still up
- 49:51Speaker 3: and down, you need to try the spiritual aspect and
- 49:55Speaker 3: and test God and that thing, step out in faith
- 49:58Speaker 3: and say hey, I'm gonna give this shot, you know.
- 50:00Speaker 2: And I mean, what do you got to lose.
- 50:02Speaker 3: You're already depressed, so please don't be depressed anymore. And
- 50:06Speaker 3: we're going and I'm not poking fun at anybody. I
- 50:08Speaker 3: want to pray over that as we as we pray here.
- 50:11Speaker 3: So what I would like to do is close down
- 50:15Speaker 3: this conversation with a prayer over you.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Over.
- 50:18Speaker 3: I know your business is a business, but I think
- 50:22Speaker 3: of these things as ministries, just as I think of
- 50:24Speaker 3: this show. So I want to pray over your ministry
- 50:27Speaker 3: and pray over you. So if you're willing, let's let's
- 50:30Speaker 3: go to God together. Father God, thank you so much
- 50:33Speaker 3: for this day. Thank you for the opportunity to spend
- 50:35Speaker 3: time with my sister. Even though I have a hard
- 50:37Speaker 3: time pronouncing her name, I will declare over her that
- 50:39Speaker 3: she is blessed. And I also pray that you would
- 50:42Speaker 3: make her a blessing to every person that she crosses
- 50:45Speaker 3: paths with, whether online or in person, stranger or friend,
- 50:49Speaker 3: that she's able to shine your light into their heart
- 50:53Speaker 3: and into their life. And Lord, we talked today about depression.
- 50:56Speaker 3: We talked about the spirit of heaviness. We talked about
- 50:59Speaker 3: the spirit of confusion. We talked about the spirit of lies.
- 51:01Speaker 3: And in Jesus' name, I bind that and whoever's listening
- 51:05Speaker 3: and cast it out in Jesus' name and replace it
- 51:08Speaker 3: with this truth from Psalms ninety one. I pray Lord,
- 51:12Speaker 3: that who listens to this would dwell in the shelter
- 51:15Speaker 3: of the most High and abide in the shadow of
- 51:17Speaker 3: the Almighty. I pray that they would call on your
- 51:20Speaker 3: name and say, my God, my Lord, and whom I trust.
- 51:23Speaker 3: I pray that your faithfulness would be a shield and
- 51:26Speaker 3: a buckler to them, and that they could rest in
- 51:29Speaker 3: the opinions of your wings.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Lord.
- 51:32Speaker 3: I pray that with long life you would satisfy them,
- 51:35Speaker 3: and that you would show them your salvation.
- 51:37Speaker 2: Lord. I pray these things in Jesus name. Amen, Amen,
- 51:43Speaker 2: I thank you so much, Doctor Chi Goose Ua Sue.
- 51:47Speaker 3: I'm going to keep working on it because we're going
- 51:48Speaker 3: to be buddies and someday I got to be able
- 51:50Speaker 3: to say it easily. But to my listeners, you guys
- 51:53Speaker 3: know what's coming next. This has been coach Alex fand
