- 0:10Speaker 1: He love beautiful people, and welcome to the podcast episode
- 0:13Speaker 1: of Today. This is the second last episode of the year.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I will be doing best Off and encore episodes and
- 0:22Speaker 1: like compilations of like the most popular brain facts and stuff,
- 0:25Speaker 1: so there'll be episodes running throughout, but this is the
- 0:28Speaker 1: second last, like original Monday episodes. So I've got this one,
- 0:34Speaker 1: I've got Friday, and then we've got next week, and
- 0:37Speaker 1: then that will be all for the year. Which is
- 0:41Speaker 1: crazy to think that we're at the end of the year.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I know we always say that, and I feel like
- 0:46Speaker 1: as you get older, it feels like it happens faster
- 0:49Speaker 1: and faster, maybe because there's just much more going on
- 0:51Speaker 1: in your life, many more things to juggle, and when
- 0:54Speaker 1: you've got a lot on time just goes faster. But
- 0:56Speaker 1: at the same time, I like to I like knowing
- 0:59Speaker 1: that when I think of things that happened at the
- 1:01Speaker 1: start of the year, I'm like, oh, that's comfiding to
- 1:03Speaker 1: know that that feels like it actually was ages ago.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So while yes, time is flying, I also feel like
- 1:10Speaker 1: I am packing in a lot in every year, so
- 1:12Speaker 1: it is a nice feeling. Also, if there's some fucking
- 1:16Speaker 1: cunt with an angle grinder just outside my window. So
- 1:20Speaker 1: if you happen to hear that, bear with me. Hopefully
- 1:23Speaker 1: this person doesn't go on for the entire episode anyway,
- 1:26Speaker 1: So I thought, what better topic for today's episode than
- 1:32Speaker 1: to do one that is completely on discipline. I have
- 1:36Speaker 1: a podcast episode. I mean, you could really do an
- 1:39Speaker 1: entire podcast on discipline, And I've got one particular episode
- 1:44Speaker 1: on discipline that like popped off. It was so fucking popular.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It's been reshared so much because of that episode. A
- 1:52Speaker 1: lot of the podcasts that I've been interviewed on have
- 1:55Speaker 1: been based around this episode, and it is on discipline,
- 1:58Speaker 1: and pop fucking loved it. So I'm like, I need
- 2:01Speaker 1: another episode on discipline, especially coming into the end of
- 2:04Speaker 1: the year. Not because you should be disciplined at the
- 2:07Speaker 1: end of the year in the sense of like, oh,
- 2:09Speaker 1: don't have fun, not this, but because I really want
- 2:11Speaker 1: you to get a real understanding of what discipline truly
- 2:14Speaker 1: means and what that can look like for you moving
- 2:17Speaker 1: into the year, What discipline can provide you, how to
- 2:20Speaker 1: achieve it in a realistic way, and why is that
- 2:23Speaker 1: discipline actually reduces anxiety, depression, overthinking. There's so many things
- 2:31Speaker 1: that on like a mental from a mental perspective, that
- 2:34Speaker 1: discipline alleviates so many of those symptoms. It is quite
- 2:38Speaker 1: life changing. So if you're someone that's a bit like, yeah,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I'd like to be more disciplined, whatever, we're going to
- 2:43Speaker 1: break down really what discipline actually means, what it means
- 2:46Speaker 1: for you, how it can impact your life. Of course,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I'm breaking it down into like like actual points to
- 2:53Speaker 1: think about different steps, different things. You know, I love
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know me, I fucking love a list. I love categories.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So I'm breaking it all down into sections so you
- 3:02Speaker 1: can really like sink your teeth into this and flesh
- 3:07Speaker 1: it out. And I highly recommend that you grab a
- 3:10Speaker 1: pen and a notebook. You sit the fuck down, listen
- 3:13Speaker 1: to this episode, write everything down so that way you've
- 3:16Speaker 1: got your head wrapped around what discipline looks like and
- 3:18Speaker 1: you are ready to change your life. If you don't
- 3:23Speaker 1: have a pen and paper with you, I'll be summarizing
- 3:25Speaker 1: the key points at the end of the episode, but
- 3:27Speaker 1: definitely listen back to it and just note all those
- 3:30Speaker 1: points down. I think if you have these points that
- 3:33Speaker 1: I'm going to give you in this episode top of mind,
- 3:36Speaker 1: it will actually transform how you approach anything that you do,
- 3:40Speaker 1: whether it's goals, whether it's something to do with lifestyle.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I've spoken about milestone and lifestyle goals, either one, whether
- 3:47Speaker 1: it's your health, your mental health, whatever it is, you're
- 3:50Speaker 1: going to realize that some simple tweaks in your day
- 3:53Speaker 1: to day life will make you feel not only more
- 3:56Speaker 1: accomplished and more organized, but a whole lot lighter, happier,
- 4:01Speaker 1: bit more carefree. You're gonna have less pressure on yourself.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Like if this isn't if I'm not selling it to you,
- 4:06Speaker 1: then switch this fucking episode off, because if that doesn't
- 4:09Speaker 1: sell it, then you're just not interested in being disciplined. Okay,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you're just not interested in feeling fabulous. All right, let's
- 4:14Speaker 1: get straight into it. So I don't have a brain
- 4:16Speaker 1: fact for today. I apologize. I was just getting too
- 4:18Speaker 1: excited during this episode that it slipped my mind. But
- 4:23Speaker 1: let's begin with number one. What is discipline? Let's talk
- 4:28Speaker 1: about it from like a dictionary term, and then I'm
- 4:31Speaker 1: going to be talking about discipline of how I want
- 4:33Speaker 1: you to look at discipline. So firstly, discipline, like the dictionary,
- 4:37Speaker 1: there's two definitions for it. Is I'm leaning towards more
- 4:41Speaker 1: the second definition, but anyway, Number one the practice of
- 4:44Speaker 1: training people to obey rules or a code of behavior,
- 4:47Speaker 1: using punishment to correct disobedience, so not really or the
- 4:53Speaker 1: quality of being able to behave and work in a
- 4:55Speaker 1: controlled way, which involves obeying particular rules and standards. So
- 4:59Speaker 1: where looking at the second one? But let's break down
- 5:04Speaker 1: my points. Like I said, I've got a bunch to
- 5:07Speaker 1: get through, and this is how I actually want you
- 5:09Speaker 1: to look at discipline. So number one, the first point,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I want you to reframe what discipline means and what
- 5:16Speaker 1: you can get out of discipline. Okay, So I want
- 5:19Speaker 1: you to look at discipline as a tool that is
- 5:24Speaker 1: going to bring you rewards, exciting rewards. Okay, So discipline
- 5:30Speaker 1: is your means to an end. Okay. I think we
- 5:34Speaker 1: look at discipline as being overly structured or potentially boring
- 5:40Speaker 1: or restrictive. I think discipline can come across in our
- 5:44Speaker 1: minds as being restrictive. But discipline actually allows adventure. It
- 5:50Speaker 1: allows health, success, stability, spontaneity, fun, peace of mind. It
- 5:57Speaker 1: allows you to relax and properly relax, and I'll explain
- 6:01Speaker 1: why that is. And it allows you to be a
- 6:04Speaker 1: lot more creative, okay. And the reason for that is,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and I'm going to delve into it a lot deeper
- 6:09Speaker 1: throughout this episode, but the reason for this is because
- 6:12Speaker 1: when you are disciplined, when you have structure, when you
- 6:15Speaker 1: have organization where you know where you're going, when you
- 6:18Speaker 1: have a clear idea of what you want to do,
- 6:21Speaker 1: how you're going to break it down, how you're going
- 6:23Speaker 1: to get to that goal, then you're way less scattered.
- 6:27Speaker 1: You're way less like, oh fuck, I've got to do this,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I've got to do that. I've actually here, I'm actually there.
- 6:30Speaker 1: You have organization, and because you're organized in the mind
- 6:34Speaker 1: and physically with what you do, it freeze up so
- 6:38Speaker 1: much extra space in your head in your day for
- 6:43Speaker 1: you to actually then think, well, I'm a lot more
- 6:45Speaker 1: relaxed because all this is done, all this is structured.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I've got a plan, that plan has been put in place,
- 6:52Speaker 1: i can stretch out the timeline. It's not like I'm
- 6:54Speaker 1: like hustling and I'm not having fun and I'm causing
- 6:57Speaker 1: my life to be so boring and structured. But I've
- 6:59Speaker 1: got a plan and i know what I'm doing. Everything
- 7:01Speaker 1: structured in my mind. That because of that, when I
- 7:03Speaker 1: do switch off in the afternoon to relax. I'm not thinking, Fuck,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I've got to do this, I've got to do that,
- 7:07Speaker 1: I've got to write that down, don't forget this, Oh,
- 7:09Speaker 1: don't forget I'm relaxed. Because of that, I can actually think, Oh,
- 7:14Speaker 1: you know, why don't I spontaneously do something tonight. Why
- 7:17Speaker 1: don't I just call this person and say, you know what,
- 7:19Speaker 1: fuck it, I'm gonna pick you up, let's go do
- 7:20Speaker 1: this thing. You have so much more. You free up
- 7:24Speaker 1: your life in a crazy way. When you are disciplined.
- 7:28Speaker 1: When the major important things in your life are taken
- 7:31Speaker 1: care of, you can have fun in all the other
- 7:34Speaker 1: areas of your life. Okay, and one of my main
- 7:37Speaker 1: goals this year, I'll be honest, I've been hard on
- 7:39Speaker 1: myself because I have gotten better, not as good as
- 7:42Speaker 1: I would have liked to, but I've seen major progress.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Is I wanted to be more organized. I was like,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I need to be more organized. Have I achieved where
- 7:51Speaker 1: I wanted to be? No, I haven't. I'll be honest
- 7:53Speaker 1: with you, I have not. But have I made progress? Yes,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I have, and already that level of organization that I
- 7:59Speaker 1: have achieved, I've already seen so much benefit come from it. Okay,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and that is all due to discipline. Okay. So discipline,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you want to look at it as enabling freedom to
- 8:12Speaker 1: use time, money, and resources more effectively. It enables opportunities.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So you can actually now have the opportunities to pursue
- 8:20Speaker 1: your passions, to pursue your goals because you can trust
- 8:22Speaker 1: in yourself way more. You can actually, you know, you
- 8:26Speaker 1: become a person of your word. You actually follow through.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You have more time, balance in life, and balance when
- 8:33Speaker 1: you've got to properly balance life, it leads to reduced stress,
- 8:35Speaker 1: it leads to more fulfillment. So basically, you want to
- 8:39Speaker 1: look at discipline as equaling freedom with your time, with
- 8:44Speaker 1: your money, with your energy. Okay, So discipline gives you
- 8:47Speaker 1: options and discipline gives you real control over your life.
- 8:51Speaker 1: If you are undisciplined, you do not have control of
- 8:55Speaker 1: your life. Okay. So second thing, So that's the first point,
- 9:01Speaker 1: point number one. Reframe what discipline, discipline means and what
- 9:05Speaker 1: you get out of it. Second point, I want you
- 9:08Speaker 1: to look at reaching your point of no return and
- 9:12Speaker 1: what does that look like. Now, what I mean by
- 9:15Speaker 1: this is so often we are motivated by an uncomfortable
- 9:20Speaker 1: situation and we just want to get out of it now.
- 9:23Speaker 1: If you're a long term listener of my podcast, you
- 9:26Speaker 1: know that I talk a lot about discomfort and how
- 9:29Speaker 1: we are always aversive to discomfort and we don't like
- 9:33Speaker 1: being uncomfortable. So we'll, if you know, without if we
- 9:36Speaker 1: don't properly frame it, and if we don't have a
- 9:38Speaker 1: clear enough goal, we'll just choose the lesser of the
- 9:41Speaker 1: two uncomfortable things. So, for example, that's why we procrastinate
- 9:45Speaker 1: because in the moment, I could be watching TV or
- 9:48Speaker 1: I could be folding the laundry. Folding the laundry equals discomfort.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'm just gonna watch TV. That's ultimately in a nutshell.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It can be a lot more complicated, but very put it,
- 9:57Speaker 1: very basically basically, that is why we procrass. That's why
- 10:00Speaker 1: we put things off. That's why we can look back
- 10:02Speaker 1: in a year's time and think, Wow, I had set
- 10:04Speaker 1: some goals in January, I've not done any of them.
- 10:06Speaker 1: It's because we avoid discomfort. Okay, so often when we
- 10:11Speaker 1: structure goals, it's because we are avoiding discomfort. Not always.
- 10:16Speaker 1: There's many times that we'll have a goal for example,
- 10:18Speaker 1: like a passion that we want to pursue, where we're
- 10:20Speaker 1: running towards something that we like. But for example, if
- 10:22Speaker 1: you're feeling rather unhealthy sluggish, you think I'm sick of
- 10:26Speaker 1: feeling this way. I'm sick of it. I'm going to
- 10:28Speaker 1: start exercising, I'm going to start getting up, I'm going
- 10:30Speaker 1: to do this, I'm going to do that, blah blah.
- 10:33Speaker 1: So then Monday rolls around, you set the alarm, you
- 10:36Speaker 1: drag yourself out of bed, you do it, and you're like, oh, okay,
- 10:39Speaker 1: now I'm feeling a bit better. I haven't been drinking
- 10:41Speaker 1: this weekend. I'm at where it's midweek, so I haven't
- 10:44Speaker 1: been drinking. I feel a little bit better. So fu
- 10:46Speaker 1: fuck this. I don't need I don't need to be
- 10:47Speaker 1: getting up so early. I don't need to be training
- 10:49Speaker 1: every single day. I don't. I don't need that. I
- 10:50Speaker 1: feel okay. And what I mean by that is when
- 10:53Speaker 1: we're further enough away from our discomfort, we then get
- 10:58Speaker 1: relaxed and then we drop back into it. So that's
- 11:00Speaker 1: why you see people yoyoing with their lifestyle of like, oh,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I'm going to stop partying, watch me not drink for
- 11:05Speaker 1: a month. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, they haven't been drinking. They
- 11:08Speaker 1: feel good enough. Bang Friday, They're drinking again that month
- 11:11Speaker 1: that week. Okay. Look at people with diets. I'm gonna
- 11:14Speaker 1: try this fucking hectic diet whatever. Three days in they're
- 11:18Speaker 1: like this is fucked, and then they go back to it,
- 11:19Speaker 1: or they see a little bit of progress and then
- 11:21Speaker 1: they go back. Or A prime example for me is
- 11:24Speaker 1: if I'm not living the healthiest lifestyle, it manifests in
- 11:29Speaker 1: my skin, my exama, I get really itchy. So then
- 11:32Speaker 1: I'm like, fuck this, I need to get away from
- 11:34Speaker 1: this discomfort. I'm going to run away from this discomfort.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So I do two three days of like really clean
- 11:39Speaker 1: eating and like bone broth and this and that. But
- 11:41Speaker 1: it's really boring and uncomfortable for me. And then the
- 11:44Speaker 1: moment I'm stop getting itchy, the moment it stops getting itchy,
- 11:47Speaker 1: then I stop doing that really extra healthy lifestyle. Then
- 11:51Speaker 1: I go back to normality. And I've been doing that
- 11:53Speaker 1: yogo thing. I've done it for so long in my life, Okay,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and I think we can all relate to it. So
- 11:58Speaker 1: you've got to look at am I running to something
- 12:00Speaker 1: or am I running away from something, because if you
- 12:02Speaker 1: were running away from discomfort, then you're not really reaching
- 12:06Speaker 1: your point of no return. You're kind of getting far
- 12:09Speaker 1: enough away from it. And when it's not that bad,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and when the tables turn and when being being healthy
- 12:15Speaker 1: is more uncomfortable than being unhealthy, then you're going to
- 12:17Speaker 1: go back to being unhealthy. Okay. So that's how I
- 12:19Speaker 1: want you to look at it. You've got to ask yourself,
- 12:21Speaker 1: what is my real point of no return? Because at
- 12:24Speaker 1: the moment, if I'm still yooing back and forth, I've
- 12:26Speaker 1: not reached my point of no return. I have to
- 12:29Speaker 1: identify what my point of no return looks like, what
- 12:34Speaker 1: am I going to value more? And why? What does
- 12:37Speaker 1: it mean? Okay? So for example, this is why a
- 12:41Speaker 1: lot of people have this like like a moment that
- 12:44Speaker 1: woke them up in their life. It could have been
- 12:45Speaker 1: a major health scare, it could have been when someone
- 12:48Speaker 1: left them in a relationship, it could have been when
- 12:50Speaker 1: they got fired and whatever. Like sometimes people have this
- 12:54Speaker 1: like catastrophic quote unquote catastrophic maybe not catastrophic, but a
- 12:58Speaker 1: huge event that in their life and it was their
- 13:02Speaker 1: point of no return make or break moment in their
- 13:04Speaker 1: life that thought, I am it's my AHA moment. I'm
- 13:06Speaker 1: never looking back. But the beauty is that you don't
- 13:09Speaker 1: need a catastrophic event to occur in your life for
- 13:11Speaker 1: you to have this AHA moment. You just need to
- 13:13Speaker 1: be very aware of what would your life look like
- 13:18Speaker 1: if you truly decided to make that change, if you
- 13:20Speaker 1: truly decided to give that thing up or start doing
- 13:23Speaker 1: that thing or putting in this level of effort or
- 13:25Speaker 1: dealing with this level of discomfort. What would that look like?
- 13:28Speaker 1: And what is your point of no return? What will
- 13:30Speaker 1: it take for you to make that change? And I'm
- 13:33Speaker 1: not talking about a crazy change, I'm even saying, what
- 13:35Speaker 1: would it take for you to stop scroll doom scrolling
- 13:38Speaker 1: on your phone and start reading for thirty minutes every
- 13:41Speaker 1: night if you found out that it equaled sound sleep?
- 13:45Speaker 1: Moving forward? What would it take? Because you have to
- 13:49Speaker 1: factor in all these different things of what is it
- 13:51Speaker 1: going to take for me to start choosing a healthier lifestyle,
- 13:54Speaker 1: or for me to start choosing myself over other things,
- 13:56Speaker 1: or for me to start choosing taking these big risks
- 13:59Speaker 1: so I can like go further in my career, whatever
- 14:02Speaker 1: it is, what will it take? What is my point
- 14:04Speaker 1: of no return. Okay, And a really good way of
- 14:07Speaker 1: doing this is look at examples of other people that
- 14:09Speaker 1: have done this, look at interviews of people that have
- 14:12Speaker 1: gone through like a major event, like David Goggins, and
- 14:14Speaker 1: you know all these people that have decided I'm done,
- 14:18Speaker 1: I'm fucking done, and I'm going to make that change,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and I'm now running towards something that i want, not
- 14:23Speaker 1: running away from something that I don't want. Okay, since
- 14:37Speaker 1: since number three, what is this, there's a value proposition?
- 14:52Speaker 1: What is the value? Okay, how do we maintain the
- 14:56Speaker 1: value of what we're going towards? Top of mind? So
- 15:00Speaker 1: remember that we are likely to change our mind all
- 15:04Speaker 1: the time. When I'm feeling really itchy and my exom
- 15:07Speaker 1: is horrible, it's really easy for me to have my
- 15:11Speaker 1: health top of mind, and I think, oh my god,
- 15:13Speaker 1: it's so nice when my skin's not itchy, and when
- 15:15Speaker 1: I feel really healthy, it's so and that is top
- 15:18Speaker 1: of mind, And there's nothing I value more in that
- 15:20Speaker 1: moment that when I'm sitting there itchy, putting ice on
- 15:23Speaker 1: my skin, there's nothing I value more than not being itchy,
- 15:26Speaker 1: being really healthy, feeling amazing in the morning, when I
- 15:28Speaker 1: wake up. So that's it. But then when I'm not
- 15:31Speaker 1: that itchy, when I'm distracted, when I'm this, that starts
- 15:34Speaker 1: dropping down out of top of mind. Right, So how
- 15:37Speaker 1: do we keep this thing top of mind? Okay, You've
- 15:41Speaker 1: got to remind yourself that you your mind changes all
- 15:46Speaker 1: the time. What you value in the moment changes all
- 15:48Speaker 1: the time depending on the environment that you're in. So
- 15:50Speaker 1: what I want you to do is I want you
- 15:52Speaker 1: to put yourself in the shoes of your weak dog self.
- 15:58Speaker 1: We all have a weak dog in us, all of
- 16:01Speaker 1: us that shows up all the fucking time. This week
- 16:05Speaker 1: fucking dog rolls in when we least need it, And
- 16:09Speaker 1: that's the version of ourselves that's like, I'll start next week,
- 16:12Speaker 1: I'll do it later. Oh, don't worry about that now.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Fuck this, fuck this, fuck this. I'm just going to
- 16:17Speaker 1: choose easy, easy, and going to choose just like the
- 16:19Speaker 1: easiest version of my reality right now. That's the week
- 16:22Speaker 1: dog version of yourself. So you need to really remind
- 16:26Speaker 1: yourself of what it feels like when you're in that
- 16:29Speaker 1: week dog state. Get clear on who that person looks like.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Because this brings me to point three, which is removed
- 16:36Speaker 1: denial and any other delusional chat that you love to
- 16:41Speaker 1: entertain yourself with. Get rid of it. Because so many
- 16:45Speaker 1: of us are in denial. We will say I'm going
- 16:48Speaker 1: to start this thing, I'm going to change this thing,
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm going to do this thing, not factoring in that
- 16:53Speaker 1: we have said that a thousand times. We have set
- 16:56Speaker 1: ourselves up in the exact same way, and we have
- 16:58Speaker 1: failed in the exact same way a thousand times over.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Doesn't matter what it is that you're trying to do.
- 17:04Speaker 1: It doesn't matter what the goal is. It just doesn't matter.
- 17:07Speaker 1: And I actually had this discussion with my partner Tyrone
- 17:09Speaker 1: the other day because he was like, Oh, I'm going
- 17:11Speaker 1: to do this, I'm going to do that, and I said, well,
- 17:13Speaker 1: how are you going to do it differently this time?
- 17:14Speaker 1: Because you've said that you're going to do that before.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I support you wholeheartedly. I know that you're very excited,
- 17:20Speaker 1: but what's going to be different? And he was like,
- 17:22Speaker 1: what do you mean, No, I'm really excited, I'm going
- 17:24Speaker 1: to do it. And I'm like, that's delusional what you're saying,
- 17:26Speaker 1: because everyone can be excited when they're about to start something.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Everyone can do this, Like, what is going to be different.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And so then he started being like, oh, okay, yeah, true, true, true,
- 17:37Speaker 1: You're right nothing. So then he started formulating ideas for
- 17:41Speaker 1: increasing the likelihood for him to follow through consistently on
- 17:45Speaker 1: this new task that he's undertaking. And he has taken
- 17:48Speaker 1: these measures. He's got an accountability buddy, he's got all
- 17:50Speaker 1: these different things. Anyway, what I'm saying is that if
- 17:54Speaker 1: you aren't aware of your delusional self, then you are
- 17:58Speaker 1: not going to make significant changes in your life. You've
- 18:01Speaker 1: got to, and it's not nice reminding yourself of the
- 18:04Speaker 1: version of you that's lazy, that doesn't want to do things,
- 18:07Speaker 1: that talks yourself out of things that you deep down
- 18:09Speaker 1: really want to do. If you don't want to face
- 18:11Speaker 1: that self, then you're going to be facing that same
- 18:13Speaker 1: roadblock time and time and time and time and time again. Okay,
- 18:18Speaker 1: So for me, I know when it is that I
- 18:21Speaker 1: make excuses for myself. I know when it is that
- 18:23Speaker 1: I'm most likely to not do something. I know all
- 18:26Speaker 1: these things about me, So I need to remind myself
- 18:29Speaker 1: of what that looks like, and I need to remove
- 18:31Speaker 1: any delusional chat, and delusional chat would be this time
- 18:34Speaker 1: is going to be different without explaining why it's going
- 18:37Speaker 1: to be different? What parameters have I put in place
- 18:39Speaker 1: to prove that this time is actually going to be different?
- 18:42Speaker 1: And if the answer is none, then you're being delusional. Okay.
- 18:47Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that you are an absolute delusional
- 18:50Speaker 1: cunt all the time, but I'm saying you now need
- 18:53Speaker 1: to change what that looks like. Okay. So if I'm
- 18:55Speaker 1: setting it up the same as the last fucking ten times,
- 18:58Speaker 1: why is it going to be different? What am I
- 19:00Speaker 1: going to do to change it? What hard thing am
- 19:02Speaker 1: I going to put into place so I make it
- 19:04Speaker 1: even harder for me not to do that thing? What
- 19:07Speaker 1: are the excuses that I always come up with? And
- 19:09Speaker 1: how can I like prepare for that? Okay? When you're
- 19:14Speaker 1: going to you know, come up with an excuse, Okay.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Someone who just says, oh, this time is going to
- 19:19Speaker 1: be different but can't answer why it's going to be different,
- 19:21Speaker 1: you're pretty much it's a sure thing that the result
- 19:25Speaker 1: is going to be the same. You're going to stop,
- 19:26Speaker 1: You're going to quit. You're going to give up when
- 19:27Speaker 1: it's not as uncomfortable anymore. You're not going towards something,
- 19:30Speaker 1: you're running away from something. The next point is what
- 19:35Speaker 1: does your word mean to you? This is huge, huge, huge.
- 19:40Speaker 1: If you have one goal for twenty twenty five, I'm
- 19:43Speaker 1: going to give it to you right now. If you're like,
- 19:45Speaker 1: I don't know what my theme for twenty twenty five is,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm going to give it to you right now. You're
- 19:49Speaker 1: going to write this down on a fucking cardboard. If
- 19:53Speaker 1: you watch my last Monday's episode on vision Boarding, go
- 19:56Speaker 1: to fucking office works, print out a huge board and
- 19:59Speaker 1: write what does this look like? You don't know what
- 20:02Speaker 1: your goal is for twenty twenty five, I'm going to
- 20:04Speaker 1: give it to you right now. I'm gonna fucking give
- 20:06Speaker 1: it to you on a silver platter. This is going
- 20:09Speaker 1: to be the best goal that you can have, no
- 20:12Speaker 1: matter who you are, no matter where you're starting with.
- 20:14Speaker 1: The goal is I'm going to become a person of
- 20:17Speaker 1: my word. Okay, there is nothing more powerful. That's going
- 20:21Speaker 1: to be my goal. So I've just shared it with you.
- 20:23Speaker 1: My top top, top top goal above all my other goals,
- 20:27Speaker 1: not just for twenty twenty five, but moving forward, is
- 20:29Speaker 1: I want to be a person of my word. I
- 20:31Speaker 1: follow through. I have fucking follow through. What I say
- 20:34Speaker 1: is done. Okay, I don't want and most importantly to myself,
- 20:41Speaker 1: that's the most important one. If you are not a
- 20:43Speaker 1: person of your word, then if you don't have your word,
- 20:45Speaker 1: you got nothing. Okay. So learning to become a person
- 20:50Speaker 1: of your word is going to be transformational for you.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Every time you let yourself down, you value your own
- 20:57Speaker 1: word less. Just like if someone else did that to you.
- 21:02Speaker 1: If you had a friend that says, oh my god,
- 21:05Speaker 1: we're gonna do this, let's do this, let's do that,
- 21:07Speaker 1: and then they either never text you back about that thing,
- 21:10Speaker 1: or then they never follow through with it, or they
- 21:12Speaker 1: cancel one time. You're like okay, second time, ten times,
- 21:16Speaker 1: then you're like, this person is a flake. Love them
- 21:19Speaker 1: so much. They might have all these other qualities, but
- 21:20Speaker 1: they're a flake. They're a fucking flake. I can't rely
- 21:23Speaker 1: on them as far as I can fucking throw them. Okay.
- 21:27Speaker 1: So you're doing that to yourself every time. Every time
- 21:32Speaker 1: you promise yourself you're going to do something, you promise,
- 21:34Speaker 1: you announce it, you write it down, you like pray
- 21:37Speaker 1: on it, you fucking manifest, you meditate, and then you
- 21:40Speaker 1: don't follow through. You are then believing yourself less and
- 21:44Speaker 1: less and less unless your confidence in yourself and your
- 21:47Speaker 1: own abilities goes down, whether you realize it or not.
- 21:51Speaker 1: You want to have conviction in your word, and I
- 21:54Speaker 1: don't care if you now have to start from scratch.
- 21:57Speaker 1: We need to wipe the slate clean and start from
- 22:00Speaker 1: the beginning. So you want to start easy, You want
- 22:03Speaker 1: to start small. But the promise you make to yourself
- 22:06Speaker 1: is from now when I'm a person of my word,
- 22:07Speaker 1: even if that means that I refuse to make a
- 22:10Speaker 1: promise that I'm not sure I can keep good good, Okay,
- 22:14Speaker 1: So start with small commitments. You're going to say, today,
- 22:17Speaker 1: no matter what, I'm going to spend twenty minutes tidying
- 22:21Speaker 1: up my whatever or going through my inbox and deleting whatever. Like,
- 22:25Speaker 1: you set yourself a goal and then you actually do it,
- 22:28Speaker 1: so you're like, see, I was a person of my word.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I followed through today no matter what, I'm going to
- 22:32Speaker 1: pay that over due bill. No, I will not go
- 22:34Speaker 1: to bed until that thing is paid. And then you
- 22:36Speaker 1: follow through. Or I'm going to do five minutes of
- 22:38Speaker 1: reading every day, five minutes of reading every day, and
- 22:41Speaker 1: then you follow through. Then you start being like wow,
- 22:44Speaker 1: for the last thirty days. Okay, they were all random
- 22:48Speaker 1: things that I did. It wasn't necessarily cumulative. But I
- 22:53Speaker 1: can now say that for the last thirty days, I
- 22:55Speaker 1: promise myself I'd do some task, and I've done it.
- 22:58Speaker 1: So now you start to think, now, because I've got
- 23:01Speaker 1: such good follow through, every time I promise it to myself,
- 23:03Speaker 1: I have to follow through. I'm committing. I've made a
- 23:06Speaker 1: commitment to myself. And because I'm making such a strong commitment,
- 23:10Speaker 1: I know I'm not going to set myself up to
- 23:12Speaker 1: do a task that I know for sure is unrealistic.
- 23:14Speaker 1: So then you start being a lot kinder to yourself.
- 23:16Speaker 1: You start being a lot more realistic. Then you start
- 23:19Speaker 1: being able to set bigger goals, harder goals, goals that
- 23:22Speaker 1: are more uncomfortable when you're having your weak dog moment.
- 23:25Speaker 1: And then before you know it, you're like, I am
- 23:28Speaker 1: a person of my fucking word, like we all have.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I just gave you the example of a flake friend.
- 23:32Speaker 1: We all have at least hopefully one example in our
- 23:36Speaker 1: life of a friend who is a fucking person of
- 23:39Speaker 1: their word. What they say, they do, they follow through
- 23:41Speaker 1: every time, and if they can't follow through, they're giving
- 23:44Speaker 1: you ample notice, and they're giving you alternative options for
- 23:49Speaker 1: that plan like they they're solid, they know exactly what
- 23:53Speaker 1: they mean. Their word has weight. I want you to
- 23:58Speaker 1: be that person for yourself. Moment that turns around for you,
- 24:02Speaker 1: everything will turn around because you trust yourself. You say,
- 24:06Speaker 1: if I'm said I'm doing it, I'm fucking doing it.
- 24:09Speaker 1: If I'm not gonna do it, I'm taking it back.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say it. I am done telling myself
- 24:13Speaker 1: that I'm waking up tomorrow at the first alarm and
- 24:15Speaker 1: not snoozing it and then doing it for the last
- 24:17Speaker 1: three hundred and sixty five days. I am done, Okay,
- 24:20Speaker 1: or you know, So instead of setting the alarm that early,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I need to I need to sort it out. What
- 24:25Speaker 1: am I going to do? I'm going to move the
- 24:26Speaker 1: alarm to the kitchen so it's blaring and I have
- 24:27Speaker 1: to get out of bed. Am I going to not
- 24:29Speaker 1: wake up that early? Maybe like a little bit later
- 24:32Speaker 1: so it's more achievable, but I actually do get up?
- 24:35Speaker 1: What am I gonna do? But I am going to
- 24:38Speaker 1: be a person of my word. I'm never I don't
- 24:39Speaker 1: want to lie to myself again. Okay, So remember with
- 24:43Speaker 1: this point, I know I've banged on with this point,
- 24:45Speaker 1: but it's the most important one. You are better off
- 24:48Speaker 1: promising way less to yourself, but following through and then
- 24:51Speaker 1: creating a track record for yourself than trying to commit
- 24:54Speaker 1: to too much get being overwhelmed, finding it too hard,
- 24:57Speaker 1: and not following through. Because remember, it's all about the
- 24:59Speaker 1: track record. Am I learning that I'm a person of
- 25:01Speaker 1: my word or not? So who cares how small it is?
- 25:04Speaker 1: Start small, okay? You want to set your standard and
- 25:07Speaker 1: then you grow from there. We wouldn't like other people,
- 25:11Speaker 1: you know, thinking that we're all talk. I would hate
- 25:14Speaker 1: for someone to say, oh, Alexi is all talk. I
- 25:15Speaker 1: would hate that. So why am I going to put
- 25:18Speaker 1: up with that from myself? Okay? Stop putting up with
- 25:22Speaker 1: this shit like as if you're like a piece of
- 25:24Speaker 1: fucking gluten free bread with no fucking structural integrity. You're
- 25:28Speaker 1: much better than that. Okay, You've got structural integrity. You're
- 25:31Speaker 1: going to be a person of your word in twenty
- 25:33Speaker 1: twenty five or today onwards hopefully. Okay, So you want
- 25:36Speaker 1: to commit, and I'm making a huge commitment to be
- 25:38Speaker 1: a person of my word as well. Shanaiah is staring
- 25:41Speaker 1: at me right now, and she fucking how many times?
- 25:44Speaker 1: So I'm like, we're gonna fucking do all of this today,
- 25:45Speaker 1: and then we don't follow through. I'm not doing that anymore.
- 25:48Speaker 1: We're going to be people of our words, and I'm
- 25:50Speaker 1: very excited for this twenty twenty five goal. Okay. So basically,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I want you to look at your relationship with yourself
- 25:57Speaker 1: as if it was the same as your relationship with
- 25:58Speaker 1: someone else. What would you be willing to put up with?
- 26:00Speaker 1: What wouldn't you be? Okay? Proving to yourself. Proving something
- 26:04Speaker 1: to yourself is massive, Okay, And it's one of the
- 26:07Speaker 1: biggest stepping stones to being confident, to being like really
- 26:11Speaker 1: self assured, to having high self esteem and really high
- 26:14Speaker 1: levels of self love. Okay, it's just iconic. The next
- 26:20Speaker 1: point that I want you to think about, I've got
- 26:21Speaker 1: two more points, and then I'm just going to give
- 26:23Speaker 1: you a couple of little examples is discipline is the
- 26:26Speaker 1: greatest form of self love ever. If you're ever wondering
- 26:30Speaker 1: what can I do to increase my self love, number
- 26:33Speaker 1: one is have some discipline, because discipline is a commitment, okay,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and a commitment is choosing to be somewhere when you
- 26:45Speaker 1: could be somewhere else. I am committing to do this.
- 26:48Speaker 1: It is a choice. It is not where you actually
- 26:51Speaker 1: don't really have much of a choice. So like, for example,
- 26:54Speaker 1: going to work, Yeah, it's technically a choice, but is
- 26:56Speaker 1: it really like you need to live, you need to
- 26:58Speaker 1: pay your rent, you need to make so going to
- 27:00Speaker 1: work yeah, okay, but it's really quite easy for you
- 27:05Speaker 1: to go to work because the alternative is just quite
- 27:07Speaker 1: awful and not having anywhere to live, not being able
- 27:10Speaker 1: to pay your bills. Okay. I'm talking about a commitment
- 27:13Speaker 1: where you are voluntarily choosing to be somewhere again and
- 27:17Speaker 1: again and again, or choosing to show up for someone
- 27:20Speaker 1: in this scenario, yourself again and again and again, when
- 27:23Speaker 1: you could be doing something else in that time. So
- 27:27Speaker 1: when you rock up to the gym, you could be
- 27:30Speaker 1: on your couch, you could be doing something else, but
- 27:33Speaker 1: you're here. You're here doing that thing. That's a commitment, Okay.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Commitment and discipline is a crazy display of self love.
- 27:44Speaker 1: It's saying I could be here, I could be somewhere else,
- 27:46Speaker 1: but I'm here for me, for you, for whatever. I'm here,
- 27:50Speaker 1: all right, And the beauty of it is that commitment
- 27:52Speaker 1: is a choice. If it's not a choice, then it's
- 27:54Speaker 1: not really that. It doesn't weigh that heavily. As far
- 27:56Speaker 1: as discipline, you have chosen to carve this out and
- 27:59Speaker 1: put this number one in this moment, and you're doing
- 28:01Speaker 1: that for yourself. So discipline helps you prioritize yourself, helps
- 28:04Speaker 1: you prioritize your goals. It reinforces your self worth, your
- 28:08Speaker 1: self respect, pride in yourself, a greater belief in your abilities.
- 28:13Speaker 1: You can rely on yourself. You finally learn to rely
- 28:16Speaker 1: on yourself. When you can rely on yourself for physical
- 28:19Speaker 1: things like I'm getting up at this time where I'm
- 28:20Speaker 1: going to do this thing, or I'm going for this
- 28:22Speaker 1: walk or whatever, then you start being able to rely
- 28:24Speaker 1: on yourself for emotional things or for mental mentally difficult
- 28:28Speaker 1: task things like I'm going to refrain from the pool
- 28:33Speaker 1: of scrolling on my phone and I'm going to read
- 28:35Speaker 1: a book instead. I'm going to start having more psychological
- 28:38Speaker 1: control over my life, my resources, right, and then you
- 28:42Speaker 1: have more control emotionally. I'm able to deal with my emotions.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I can look at my emotions, i can sit with them,
- 28:48Speaker 1: i can learn from them. I'm not avoiding. I'm becoming
- 28:51Speaker 1: disciplined in every area where I am trying to show
- 28:54Speaker 1: up as the best version of myself in every area
- 28:57Speaker 1: of my life. Okay. And lastly, is more control over
- 29:03Speaker 1: your life equals less anxiety and frantic thoughts. Okay. When
- 29:09Speaker 1: you have more stability and I'm not talking about boring
- 29:13Speaker 1: stability of aura. When you have more stability overall mentally, emotionally, physically,
- 29:20Speaker 1: this equals way more freedom. What you feel so much lighter.
- 29:26Speaker 1: When something is a given, you never have to think
- 29:30Speaker 1: am I going to do this? Am I not gonna
- 29:31Speaker 1: do this? Ever? Again? This is why habits are so good,
- 29:34Speaker 1: because they're a given. I don't have to question what
- 29:37Speaker 1: I'm doing every morning. If I know it's a done deal,
- 29:40Speaker 1: I've now freed up my mind to think about other shit.
- 29:42Speaker 1: If I ponder around the house fucking around every morning,
- 29:45Speaker 1: being like I could be doing this, but I also
- 29:47Speaker 1: could rather, Aurora, I'm wasting time. I'm wasting mental capacity
- 29:51Speaker 1: when it could have been a done deal. That's what
- 29:53Speaker 1: discipline affords you. You have a set way of doing
- 29:57Speaker 1: certain things and following through with certain things. I don't
- 30:00Speaker 1: even question anymore. You become a person of your word
- 30:02Speaker 1: that now you're able to free up your mind with
- 30:04Speaker 1: so many things when you start organizing your life. I
- 30:08Speaker 1: reidid my wardrobe on the weekend, Guys, I can't explain
- 30:11Speaker 1: to you the mental freedom it gave me for the
- 30:13Speaker 1: rest of the weekend. And that's just one task. One
- 30:16Speaker 1: thing I did, one thing I read, did my wardrobe.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I took everything out, cleaned the shelves, folded everything nicely,
- 30:23Speaker 1: put it away, put the winter stuff in storage. I
- 30:24Speaker 1: did all this shit, and I felt like I could
- 30:28Speaker 1: like run a country. By the end of that session,
- 30:31Speaker 1: I was like, I am the Prime Minister of Australia,
- 30:33Speaker 1: thank you very much. I was that organized, I was
- 30:36Speaker 1: that in control of everything. I felt unbelievable. And then
- 30:39Speaker 1: when I went to relax, there was nothing on my mind.
- 30:42Speaker 1: I was relaxed. Okay, So when you are disciplined, when
- 30:46Speaker 1: you get shit done, when you have structure, you can
- 30:49Speaker 1: actually relax when you're sitting there thinking I've got to
- 30:53Speaker 1: do this, I've got to do that. My place is
- 30:55Speaker 1: a mess, my inbox is a mess, all these things
- 30:57Speaker 1: are a mess. Everything's a shit show. How the fuck
- 31:00Speaker 1: are you going to relax? And it's not to say
- 31:02Speaker 1: that everything's got to be perfect at all times. It's
- 31:05Speaker 1: to say, if I can keep things at bay. I
- 31:08Speaker 1: don't expect everything to be perfect, but if I know
- 31:11Speaker 1: that I've got everything under control to an extent, things
- 31:14Speaker 1: are always going to be cropping up. Issues are always
- 31:16Speaker 1: going to be cropping up. But because you build yourself
- 31:19Speaker 1: up to be disciplined enough to deal with it when
- 31:21Speaker 1: it arises, that's going to be taking care of on
- 31:23Speaker 1: a week by week basis. I don't let it like
- 31:26Speaker 1: build up into a mountain. Then even though things are
- 31:29Speaker 1: cropping up or you know, I can still be relaxed
- 31:32Speaker 1: and be at ease because I've not put things off
- 31:34Speaker 1: for months and months and months and months and months
- 31:36Speaker 1: on end. You know, I know that that gets tackled
- 31:39Speaker 1: on a weekly basis. That gets tackled on a weekly basis,
- 31:41Speaker 1: so I don't have to stress. However, if I procrastinated
- 31:44Speaker 1: on everything, then it's building and building and building. How
- 31:47Speaker 1: am I going to relax? I have no control over
- 31:50Speaker 1: my own circumstances, and people that have no control over
- 31:52Speaker 1: their own circumstances or feel that they have no control,
- 31:55Speaker 1: end up trying to control things that are not actually
- 31:58Speaker 1: within their control. They're trying and trol how other people feel,
- 32:01Speaker 1: what other people do, the friends around them. They get
- 32:03Speaker 1: really hurt. They get hurt by things that aren't even
- 32:06Speaker 1: there to hurt them. You'll perceive a neutral situation as
- 32:09Speaker 1: an offensive situation or as a negative thing because you
- 32:12Speaker 1: don't feel like you're in control. The moment you turn
- 32:15Speaker 1: that around and think, the only thing I'm going to
- 32:17Speaker 1: focus on is controlling what is actually within my control,
- 32:19Speaker 1: and that is me what I do with my time,
- 32:21Speaker 1: with my energy, with my money, with my resources. Then
- 32:25Speaker 1: I have all the freedom in the fucking world. Everyone
- 32:28Speaker 1: can behave the way they want to behave, and I'll
- 32:30Speaker 1: know how to react. I'll know how to respond. But
- 32:32Speaker 1: I've got my shit under control. And when I've got
- 32:35Speaker 1: my shit under control, I don't have anxiety, or I've
- 32:38Speaker 1: got way less anxiety. I feel calmer, I feel more
- 32:41Speaker 1: at peace, I feel a lot better. It's not to
- 32:43Speaker 1: say that all your mood disorders will disappear, but I
- 32:47Speaker 1: can guarantee you they will simmer down to an extent
- 32:50Speaker 1: at the very least. At the very least, you will
- 32:53Speaker 1: see improvements, major improvements. You will start to finally feel
- 32:58Speaker 1: like yourself again. You'll start to feel creative again. You
- 33:01Speaker 1: start to think, now I want to take on new things.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I've got the bandwidth now to take on new things,
- 33:07Speaker 1: whether it be a hobby, whether it be a milestone
- 33:09Speaker 1: goal that I'm working towards. I want to run a marathon,
- 33:13Speaker 1: or I want to do this trip that I've always
- 33:15Speaker 1: wanted to do. Save up and plan it and do
- 33:17Speaker 1: the trip. You now have the emotional and mental and
- 33:21Speaker 1: health and physical bandwidth to do it because of the discipline. Okay,
- 33:26Speaker 1: so it provides clarity. You've given yourself clarity. This reduces
- 33:31Speaker 1: anxiety and increases productivity. When you're focusing on what you
- 33:35Speaker 1: can control, you stop wasting your energy trying to control
- 33:38Speaker 1: other shit, and then you feel good. Okay. So now
- 33:42Speaker 1: the last thing that I want to do is give
- 33:44Speaker 1: you examples of how you can start with discipline. Like
- 33:47Speaker 1: I said at the very beginning, when we're talking about
- 33:49Speaker 1: being a person of your word, you want to make
- 33:51Speaker 1: sure that you are doing things that you can foresure
- 33:55Speaker 1: achieve so you can start building a bit of a
- 33:57Speaker 1: reputation with yourself, because your reputation and is so important,
- 34:01Speaker 1: especially with yourself, mostly with yourself Okay, you want to
- 34:05Speaker 1: create that reputation, and the reputation is not built overnight.
- 34:08Speaker 1: It takes months and in some circumstances years to build
- 34:11Speaker 1: a reputation. Okay, So what we're gonna do is we're
- 34:13Speaker 1: gonna start committing ourselves to doing one task every single day,
- 34:18Speaker 1: and you make it as small as you want, but
- 34:19Speaker 1: you have to follow through with it. And ideally you
- 34:22Speaker 1: want it to be a task that you're not already
- 34:23Speaker 1: automatically going to do. So you can't be like, oh,
- 34:25Speaker 1: I'm going to shower today because hopefully you're already fucking showering,
- 34:29Speaker 1: you dirty kunt. So what you're gonna do is come
- 34:32Speaker 1: up with a task that you probably wouldn't normally do,
- 34:35Speaker 1: but it doesn't have to be massive, and you're going
- 34:37Speaker 1: to follow through. Watch how you start to change. Watch
- 34:41Speaker 1: how you feel fourteen days later, thirty days later, one
- 34:45Speaker 1: month in from being like, I set myself a small task,
- 34:48Speaker 1: better task every day and I followed through. Some days
- 34:51Speaker 1: you might be like, I'm on a fucking I'm in
- 34:53Speaker 1: the zone. I'm going to go and run ten k's
- 34:56Speaker 1: and then you do it. Okay, Yeah, so some days
- 34:57Speaker 1: you set yourself with much bigger thing and you follow
- 35:00Speaker 1: through and it feels great. But some days you're like,
- 35:03Speaker 1: I have stretched thin today, and I know that for
- 35:06Speaker 1: a fact. But I'm still going to be a person
- 35:08Speaker 1: of my word. So I'm just going to set something
- 35:09Speaker 1: I know I can achieve. I'm going to clean out
- 35:12Speaker 1: one draw in the kitchen. That's what I'm gonna do.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna whatever the fuck it is. Okay, So you
- 35:16Speaker 1: start small, but you start to become a person of
- 35:19Speaker 1: your word, you start to prove things for you. Another
- 35:22Speaker 1: great thing, and I mentioned this is in my old
- 35:24Speaker 1: discipline episode, but one of the best ways to start
- 35:26Speaker 1: building discipline is to become disciplined on a physical task
- 35:30Speaker 1: because it's a lot easier to discipline the body than
- 35:33Speaker 1: it is the mind to start with. But a disciplined
- 35:36Speaker 1: body creates a disciplined mind. Okay, where the body goes,
- 35:42Speaker 1: the mind will follow. So I want you to start thinking,
- 35:45Speaker 1: what are some physical things that I can do? Because
- 35:47Speaker 1: if you're like, oh, but I always lean into this,
- 35:49Speaker 1: isn't it. I get really distracted, I get really addicted.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I get you know, I you know, find it really
- 35:54Speaker 1: hard to not be on my phone or to not
- 35:56Speaker 1: just bed rot or couch rot and watch to start thinking,
- 36:00Speaker 1: what are some physical things that I can start to
- 36:02Speaker 1: do to start creating some actual discipline. A great example
- 36:07Speaker 1: of this is like picking one like running is a
- 36:11Speaker 1: great one, but you don't have to be a runner, walking, yoga, whatever,
- 36:13Speaker 1: but some physical task where you can also see a
- 36:16Speaker 1: bit of improvement as well to keep you really emotionally
- 36:20Speaker 1: invested in that thing. So, for example, you could be walking,
- 36:24Speaker 1: but sometimes with walking, especially if you're some of that
- 36:26Speaker 1: already walks quite a bit, you might not be saying improvement,
- 36:29Speaker 1: so it might not be as exciting. But if that
- 36:31Speaker 1: floats your boat, make it walking. But ideally you want
- 36:34Speaker 1: something where you're like, wow, I'm noticing changes in my body.
- 36:37Speaker 1: I'm noticing that the more I stick to this, the
- 36:39Speaker 1: better I get, and the better I get, the better
- 36:41Speaker 1: I get. And then when you start creating discipline in
- 36:44Speaker 1: the body, you'll notice by default your mind follows becomes
- 36:49Speaker 1: easier to stick to discipline with your mind. I'm not
- 36:52Speaker 1: gonna get on my phone this afternoon, or I'm only
- 36:55Speaker 1: going to let myself be on the phone until five
- 36:56Speaker 1: pm or six pm or whatever, and then I'm done.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I'm cut that's the cutoff time or whatever it is. Okay,
- 37:02Speaker 1: but start with the physical discipline first. If you struggle
- 37:06Speaker 1: with mental discipline, and watch everything unfold from there. Okay, Now,
- 37:11Speaker 1: I want you to pick some task, ideally today or
- 37:15Speaker 1: in the next week or so, after listening to this episode.
- 37:17Speaker 1: But let's pick some task for the fun of it.
- 37:20Speaker 1: You might already be doing it after listening to thousands
- 37:23Speaker 1: off my fucking after listening to like thousands of all
- 37:27Speaker 1: my episodes in the past. We're not thousands but probably
- 37:29Speaker 1: four hundred. You know, you might already be meditating, or
- 37:32Speaker 1: might already be doing a bunch of things. But I
- 37:34Speaker 1: want you to pick one task as we come into
- 37:36Speaker 1: the end of the year that you're going to choose
- 37:38Speaker 1: to be your discipline thing. Is it going to be
- 37:40Speaker 1: I'm going to wake up a bit earlier, I'm going
- 37:41Speaker 1: to start practicing the Rubik's cube every day. I'm going
- 37:45Speaker 1: to start doing one Sudoka puzzle the day. I'm going
- 37:46Speaker 1: to run. I'm going to be a fucking runner. I'm well,
- 37:49Speaker 1: whatever it is. But ideally, pick a task, maybe make
- 37:52Speaker 1: it physical to be to help you know discipline the body,
- 37:56Speaker 1: and I want you to share that physical task with
- 38:00Speaker 1: me on the Facebook group or in if you're part
- 38:03Speaker 1: of my self Love Club on my broadcast channel on
- 38:06Speaker 1: Instagram on my personal account at Alexis Fernandez Prexa, then
- 38:09Speaker 1: definitely right. I'm going to put a little question here
- 38:12Speaker 1: on minday, I'm going to put a little question on
- 38:14Speaker 1: what discipline task A you're going to do and please
- 38:16Speaker 1: share what that will be. But yeah, let me know
- 38:19Speaker 1: what that is. So that is the episode of today.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I am going to summarize all the key points again
- 38:25Speaker 1: as I promised I would, So get your fucking pen
- 38:29Speaker 1: or pencil or pacer and your notebook and let's go
- 38:34Speaker 1: through the point. So number one, I want you to
- 38:35Speaker 1: reframe what discipline means to you, freedom, opportunities, balance, options
- 38:40Speaker 1: and control. Number two, what is your actual point of
- 38:44Speaker 1: no return? What does that look like? Number three? What
- 38:48Speaker 1: is the actual value I'm getting out of this thing
- 38:50Speaker 1: so it stays top of mind? What does that look like?
- 38:54Speaker 1: How can I, you know, have this thing as the
- 38:57Speaker 1: most important thing in my mind so I can be
- 38:59Speaker 1: working to it all the time. Is it that I
- 39:01Speaker 1: finally want to be a person of my word? Is
- 39:02Speaker 1: it that I want to finally actually feel healthy and
- 39:05Speaker 1: have my health progress? Is it that I don't want
- 39:07Speaker 1: to fucking eximary anymore? What is it? Number four? I
- 39:12Speaker 1: think remove denial and any other delusional conversations that you
- 39:17Speaker 1: entertain yourself with. Stop being in denial. Know what that
- 39:20Speaker 1: looks like so you can prepare for it. Number five,
- 39:23Speaker 1: what does sticking to your word mean to you? How
- 39:26Speaker 1: can you become a person of your word? How can
- 39:28Speaker 1: you become someone with conviction? Okay? Number six? Discipline is
- 39:34Speaker 1: the biggest form of self love. What does it mean
- 39:37Speaker 1: to you? And what does a commitment really mean? Like
- 39:39Speaker 1: I spoke about, commitment is a choice? So how can
- 39:42Speaker 1: you start making these choices where you could be doing
- 39:44Speaker 1: something else? But no, you are committing to do this.
- 39:46Speaker 1: It is a choice and that's more important than something
- 39:49Speaker 1: that's not a choice because it means that you are.
- 39:51Speaker 1: It takes effort for you to be there, and you're
- 39:53Speaker 1: still choosing to be there for you. That's why it's
- 39:56Speaker 1: a form of self love. And lastly, number seven that
- 39:59Speaker 1: more control over your life equals less anxiety, less frantic thoughts,
- 40:03Speaker 1: less mood disorders, more stability equals spontaneity and freedom, So
- 40:08Speaker 1: you get more the more you give the more you get.
- 40:11Speaker 1: This is not about controlling your life to a point
- 40:14Speaker 1: where you have no freedom zone. It's so structured. The
- 40:17Speaker 1: structure actually provides for way more freedom, way more spontaneity,
- 40:21Speaker 1: way more that you could ever imagine. Because discipline doesn't
- 40:24Speaker 1: mean I've got to be some drill sergeant every single
- 40:27Speaker 1: day of my life. Discipline means I follow through with
- 40:30Speaker 1: what I say I'm going to do, and it allows
- 40:32Speaker 1: for the off days. If I'm not feeling well, if
- 40:34Speaker 1: my body needs to rest, I listen to it and
- 40:35Speaker 1: I rest. If I need to, you know, go on
- 40:38Speaker 1: a holiday and not do not move for seven days
- 40:40Speaker 1: because I'm just chilling. I can do that because I
- 40:44Speaker 1: am disciplined most of the time. That's the beauty of it.
- 40:48Speaker 1: You can have an eighty percent hit rate and you'll
- 40:50Speaker 1: probably be one of the most disciplined people you know.
- 40:52Speaker 1: You got have a seventy percent hit rate and you're
- 40:54Speaker 1: probably one of the most disciplined people that you know.
- 40:56Speaker 1: It's actually not that common to be that disciplined, but
- 40:59Speaker 1: those who are discipline have a lot of fucking freedom
- 41:02Speaker 1: in their life. It's really really refreshing to stey see
- 41:04Speaker 1: start looking for examples around you, those that are disciplined
- 41:07Speaker 1: and what their life looks like versus those that are
- 41:09Speaker 1: not disciplined, and how much of a shambles their life
- 41:12Speaker 1: can look like. Okay, discipline is not obvious. It's not
- 41:15Speaker 1: someone that has to be like the personal trainer at
- 41:17Speaker 1: five am. Discipline does not have to look like that.
- 41:20Speaker 1: It's all in the person's mind and how they run
- 41:22Speaker 1: their life and how they choose to control the things
- 41:24Speaker 1: that are within their control. All right, And then the
- 41:26Speaker 1: last bit was example, So start with something physical, and
- 41:30Speaker 1: start with something small. Make a small promise to yourself
- 41:32Speaker 1: every day that you're actually going to follow through with,
- 41:34Speaker 1: so you start becoming a person off your world. That
- 41:38Speaker 1: is the episode for today. Thank you so much for
- 41:40Speaker 1: tuning in. I love you guys so much, so much.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Massive shout out to my global beans I love I
- 41:47Speaker 1: love my beans so much. Can I just say shout
- 41:49Speaker 1: out to my Dutch beans, my beans in the Netherlands,
- 41:52Speaker 1: love you so much. Congratulations on Max Thestappen winning his
- 41:56Speaker 1: fourth World championship. I love Formula one so much. I
- 41:59Speaker 1: love it so much. If you listen to my vision
- 42:01Speaker 1: boarding episode you would know. But someone please get me
- 42:04Speaker 1: a ticket to the Grand Prix or get like I
- 42:06Speaker 1: just I find it so hard to get access to
- 42:08Speaker 1: the Grand Prix. I need to go to the Formula One. Anyway.
- 42:11Speaker 1: That's so, I went on a tangent. But love my
- 42:13Speaker 1: Dutch beans, Love you guys so much. Anyway, that's all
- 42:15Speaker 1: for today. As always, remember becond to yourself, beconmet to
- 42:18Speaker 1: your brain. Don't take shit from anyone, and especially don't
- 42:21Speaker 1: take shit from yourself. Duncan
