- 0:40No, it is. I'm editing her.
- 0:42She just takes so long. The deep dive takes so long to
- 0:46edit. She will be up.

- 1:02good stuff. All right, let's get into the
- 1:04stories for today. So the first story that I have
- 1:06for you guys today is I'm going to breakdown what's been going
- 1:09on with Chloe Sexton, the Baker on TikTok who's going viral
- 1:13because she is talking about a lawsuit that is possibly being
- 1:16filed against her for her brand name Chloe's giant cookies.
- 1:21Chloe is a very popular TikTok Baker.
- 1:23She now has nearly 3,000,000 followers, but she's had like a
- 1:26million follower growth in the last, I don't know, few days
- 1:30because of the situation, but regardless, she had over 2
- 1:32million followers before this even started.
- 1:34A few days ago, she made a video saying that she was sent a cease
- 1:37and desist, claiming her business name could lead to a
- 1:39lawsuit after she announced that she's going to be featured on
- 1:43Gordon Ramsay's new Next Level Baker show.
- 1:46On November 17th, I announced to the Internet that I was going to
- 1:50be on Gordon Ramsay's first Baker.
- 1:52Three days later I received this expedited piece of mail telling
- 1:56me that someone was suing me for using the name Chloe's Giant
- 2:01Cookies. With the help of my lawyer and
- 2:03my team, we have solidly proved that for many years there have
- 2:07been 25 plus businesses we have found a loan operating under
- 2:12some combination of the word Chloe's and Cookies.
- 2:16They are not being sued, but I am.
- 2:18Furthermore, their name is not Chloe.
- 2:22Mine is. I do not wish the individuals
- 2:24posing this lawsuit any harm, however I wish that this could
- 2:29have been resolved on a more human nature given that finding
- 2:34me means knowing everything it has cost me to get where I am
- 2:39the individuals suing me. Chloe's not their name.
- 2:42Now, she didn't name the company that's suing her, but she did
- 2:45like a comment that said the brand is called Chloe's Cookies
- 2:49based out of Myers, Florida. And this has seemingly been
- 2:51confirmed by a few press outlets that it is Chloe's Cookies out
- 2:56of Florida. It's owned by Ken and Cheryl
- 2:58Weiner. And some press outlets have
- 3:00reached out to them for comment and they have reportedly said at
- 3:03the appropriate time they will set the record straight,
- 3:05supported by documentation. So I am guessing that it is them
- 3:10that is suing her. So now, of course, the reviews
- 3:13for Chloe's Cookies in Florida are in the gutter.
- 3:16Like people have been leaving the most horrific reviews for
- 3:20this other company, but it has escalated even more over the
- 3:23past day. So it seems like brands across
- 3:26the world that have Chloe and cookies in their name, they're
- 3:29coming together with Chloe, the one who is being sued from
- 3:32Chloe's giant cookies to help her fight this.
- 3:34I've seen comments from other cookie brands in her comments
- 3:37section being like, I'm in, like, you know, how can we help?
- 3:40And then she's like, DM me, let's talk.
- 3:42So it seems like there may be something that's going to like
- 3:45happen collectively with all of these cookie brands because her
- 3:48whole point is like, if there's so many cookie brands with these
- 3:51two words in it, why are you only suing me?
- 3:53It's obviously because I am the most famous.
- 3:56I do want to note, though, that the company that is threatening
- 3:59the lawsuit, they actually do have the trademark for this
- 4:03name. I don't know what the trademark
- 4:04encompasses. OK, but they do have a trademark
- 4:07relating to this name and Chloe from Chloe's giant cookies.
- 4:10Chloe Sexton does not. I have seen some lawyers on
- 4:13TikTok say like, yes, sure, maybe in all fairness, they
- 4:19should be suing others, not just you, but you're the one that's
- 4:21about to go on national, if not international television using
- 4:26their brand name that they do have trademarked.
- 4:28And then the most recent update here is that Chloe posted a
- 4:31video claiming that the son of the owners of the brand that is
- 4:34trying to sue her, he's allegedly been harassing her in
- 4:38the DMS. So this is what some of the screenshots say.
- 4:41He allegedly DMS her saying you really need to stop talking.
- 4:44Where is this really just a fraud for you to pick up
- 4:46additional followers on Instagram because you'll take
- 4:49any chance you can to set anything to be a pathetic excuse
- 4:53for additional attention. That is like not even a
- 4:56sentence, but OK, greetings. Last chance, take down the the
- 5:00videos. Same for that incompetent nurse
- 5:03you're supposedly close friends with.
- 5:05The incompetent nurse that this is referring to is Jen Hamilton,
- 5:08who made a video in support of Chloe about this situation.
- 5:11Jen Hamilton? Incompetent nurse?
- 5:13The Jen Hamilton no. And then if you want your stupid
- 5:16meeting without lawyers, pick up the phone.
- 5:18I am here. So weird that the son is getting
- 5:20involved. So apparently the owner of the
- 5:23company that is trying to sue Chloe can.
- 5:25Apparently he is litigious like I've seen people on Reddit say.
- 5:27If you look up his name you'll see that he files lawsuits
- 5:29often. I don't even know where to look
- 5:31that up. OK I'm not based on the USI
- 5:33don't know what I would look up so I didn't look that up.
- 5:35But apparently that's what people are saying on Reddit.
- 5:37And then yesterday someone on Reddit wrote this.
- 5:39I don't get this whole drama. They have a trademark.
- 5:41She's not even applying for one. She should as American citizens
- 5:44can file with USPTO without legal wraps.
- 5:47Then whiners could file a protest but that would be the
- 5:50way to go about it via social media beef when she is
- 5:53infringing on their trademark. And then someone responded, if
- 5:56they aren't enforcing their trademark against the 24 other
- 5:58businesses named Chloe's Cookies, I have a feeling it's
- 6:01not going to go well for them. So if you guys are in the legal
- 6:04profession, let me know what you think about this because people
- 6:07are of course, like largely on Chloe sex inside because she has
- 6:10such a big following. She's very beloved.
- 6:12I mean, we of course we see this and we don't like the idea of
- 6:15businesses being litigious against individuals, even though
- 6:20Chloe is actually a business herself, of course.
- 6:22But I do also understand what a lot of people are saying, which
- 6:25is like, well, they have the trademark and she's the one
- 6:27that's like going on TV using their trademarked name.
- 6:30So I don't know. What do you guys think about
- 6:32this? OK, so the next story that I
- 6:33have for you guys today is that Sophia Franklin has announced
- 6:35she is releasing A memoir about Call Her Daddy and the entire
- 6:40falling Out. So Sophia Franklin, former host
- 6:42of Call Her Daddy announced she's writing a memoir titled
- 6:45Daddy Issues, which will be released in November 2026.
- 6:49Book will tell her side of the story about leaving the popular
- 6:51podcast call her Daddy, which she Co founded with Alex Cooper
- 6:54in 2018. And it will document the end or
- 6:57like talk about the end of their friendship and their
- 6:59professional relationship. So this is from the press
- 7:02release quote coming November 1st.
- 7:04Franklin's memoir Daddy Issues will delve not only into her
- 7:07time on call her Daddy, but the emotional and physical result of
- 7:10her fallout with Cooper, feelings of betrayal and
- 7:12learning how to reinvent herself.
- 7:14The decision to write the book was one I came to on my own, she
- 7:16tells Rolling Stone. Six years ago, I was reeling
- 7:19from an experience I didn't understand.
- 7:21I needed to grow up and be free of ego as much as humanly
- 7:24possible. OK, the cover of this book is
- 7:25crazy, you guys. It's an old photo of Alex and
- 7:29Sophia, and Alex's face looks like it's been ripped off the
- 7:32cover. It's so shady.
- 7:34I love that it's called daddy issues though.
- 7:36And Sophia did say she thought about doing just like a baby
- 7:38photo of her. But obviously the picture of her
- 7:41and Alex, it really expresses what the book is going to be
- 7:44about, I guess. So for anyone who's not fully
- 7:47across what happened or maybe doesn't fully remember, because
- 7:50it does feel like so long ago, let me give you a quick recap of
- 7:54what happened with Call Her Daddy.
- 7:55So Call Her Daddy was launched in 2018 independently and then I
- 7:59think it was like a month of episodes in.
- 8:02Like it was very, very soon after Barstool signed the
- 8:04podcast. When Barstool signed them, they
- 8:07also acquired the IP to the podcast.
- 8:10The contract the girls were in was allegedly for like around a
- 8:12$75,000 base salary for each of them, a cut of merch sales, and
- 8:16some bonuses. However, very quickly the show
- 8:19became Barstool's hero podcast. Like practically overnight.
- 8:22The podcast had millions of listeners, it was their biggest
- 8:26moneymaker, and during the show, Sophia started dating an older
- 8:29TV executive who they refer to as Superman on the podcast.
- 8:33According to Alex, Superman started putting things in
- 8:35Sophia's ear about how the girls were being severely underpaid
- 8:39and should start playing hardball with Barstool.
- 8:41And so initially Alex agreed with her.
- 8:44The girls were aligned at this time that they deserved more
- 8:46money, and they started naming their podcast episodes
- 8:49increasingly cryptic things about, like, freedom and being
- 8:53prisoners. And the audience was kind of
- 8:55like, what is going on? These episode names are really
- 8:58weird. And then in early 2020, the show
- 9:01stopped publishing altogether without notice.
- 9:03And fans were like, OK, something is up.
- 9:05When Alex and Sophia finally posted about her on Instagram,
- 9:08they hinted that they couldn't talk about what was going on
- 9:10behind the scenes. Yet it was then revealed that it
- 9:13was a contract dispute with Barstool Sports over money and
- 9:16ownership and they basically stopped recording in protest.
- 9:20And it was Dave Portnoy who first talked about this
- 9:22publicly. He went Dave partner, the
- 9:24founder of Barstool. He went on their RSS feed, like
- 9:27posted a podcast of him talking about what was happening with
- 9:31their contract negotiations, like on their podcast RSS feed,
- 9:34which I just feel like it's really unprofessional and weird,
- 9:36but that's unsurprising from Dave Portnoy.
- 9:38So eventually Dave offered what he described as a generous new
- 9:42deal, higher pay, around $500,000 each of base salary,
- 9:47bonuses, and the rights to the podcast if they agreed to stay
- 9:52one more year. So according to this version of
- 9:55events that we knew publicly, Alex accepted the offer because
- 9:59she knew that the IP was the most important thing for them,
- 10:01but Sophia did not because she still wanted more money.
- 10:05This side of the story also alleged that Superman wasn't
- 10:08just in Sophia's ear about their podcast, but he was also
- 10:10shopping the podcast around to other companies while they were
- 10:13still under contract, which of course upset Barstool Sports and
- 10:17impacted these negotiations. So because Sophia was framed as
- 10:21the one who was unwilling to negotiate, essentially, the
- 10:26public sentiment around Sophia was really negative at first
- 10:29because fans felt like she ended their podcast.
- 10:32And Alex felt that same way it seemed.
- 10:33And Dave's felt that same way it seemed.
- 10:35Another part of this is Alex at the time shared her side of the
- 10:38story. And her side of the story
- 10:39included how she allegedly did a lot more work on the podcast
- 10:44than Sophia. And also I think that meant that
- 10:46Alex was getting paid slightly more.
- 10:48Like Alex was editing the episode, she said, and also like
- 10:50prepping it. And she basically framed Sophia
- 10:52as like lazy and just kind of like coasting along.
- 10:55Sophia then responded by saying she was willing to continue the
- 10:58show but felt betrayed by Alex and that their disagreements
- 11:01were misrepresented and she didn't like how she was publicly
- 11:03talking about them. And then obviously they went
- 11:05their separate ways. Alex stayed with Barstool for
- 11:07one more year. She took that deal and she did
- 11:09the podcast without Sophia. And then obviously she went to
- 11:11Spotify and now she's at SiriusXM.
- 11:13So, you know, Alex has had immense success.
- 11:16Sophia launched her own podcast, Sophia with an F.
- 11:18But I know she also went home to Utah for like 6 months, I think
- 11:22because she really felt like she was being cancelled.
- 11:24So I was in the Reddit threads this morning going back to years
- 11:26to see how the situation went down among fans at the time.
- 11:30Interestingly enough, initially fans were, like I said, almost
- 11:33unanimously on Alex's side. I think because of the IP story,
- 11:37like people understood what Alex meant by saying like IP is the
- 11:40most important thing and the narrative around Sophie's work
- 11:43ethic, and of course the fact that they felt like Sophia was
- 11:45the reason for the podcast ending.
- 11:47But as time went on, all within like a few months, sentiment
- 11:51really shifted amongst the fan base.
- 11:54So the first negative post about Alex was post on the subreddit
- 11:57like the call of her daddy subreddit July 2020.
- 11:59And from there sentiment around what happened shifted.
- 12:03I think there was just enough time where Sophia went like
- 12:05basically completely dark and I think people realized like, OK,
- 12:09what are we quote UN quote canceling her for?
- 12:11Like what are we mad at her for? Because she knew her worth and
- 12:14wanted to keep negotiating. And I understand why Alex took
- 12:17that deal. Like I understand why Alex
- 12:19wanted to take that deal and why she took that deal.
- 12:21And I also understand why Sophia was like $500,000.
- 12:24When we're making your business, 10s of millions of dollars is
- 12:27not enough. Like I understand both sides
- 12:29there. But I think because the pylon
- 12:31with Sophia was so extreme, Dave was publicly bashing her for a
- 12:35long time, which is so unprofessional and horrible.
- 12:38And you know, she was basically like, quote UN quote cancelled
- 12:40for not agreeing to sign a deal and possibly being kind of like
- 12:44a bad business partner to Alex. Like that's actually like none
- 12:46of our business. Like that's not that's not a
- 12:49reason for somebody to be bashed in the court of public opinion
- 12:53by the fans. And then I think also seeing how
- 12:56successful Alex became off the IP that they built together,
- 13:00that rubbed fans the wrong way. Needless to say, people are
- 13:02really excited about this book. It's not the first time that
- 13:05Sophia's talked about this, but I've seen people online say that
- 13:08her NDA is up now so she can open up more.
- 13:11I don't know if that's true. I don't know if she had an NDA.
- 13:13But regardless, I think this will be a lot juicier than
- 13:16anything we've ever gotten from her in the past.
- 13:18And she deserves to tell her side of the story.
- 13:20Like, she's obviously still a successful influencer, but
- 13:23nothing close to Alex Cooper. And, you know, probably nothing
- 13:27close to what she could have been if she stayed with Alex
- 13:31Cooper. All right.
- 13:32And the last story that I have for you guys today is Olivia
- 13:34Jade and Braxton Barrios are reportedly seeing each other.
- 13:37So NFL player Braxton Barrios and influencer Olivia Jade were
- 13:41seen together at the Palm Tree Festival, where onlookers say
- 13:44they were looking flirty all night.
- 13:47And then Dumois posted several photos of the two being really
- 13:49cozy at the festival. And the tabloids are saying they
- 13:52are like, flirting or seeing each other, hooking up,
- 13:55whatever. So this comes off the back of
- 13:57Braxton splitting from Alex Earl late last year and Olivia Jade
- 14:00splitting from Jacob Allordy. Fans have also noted that the
- 14:02timing is interesting because right before Alex and Braxton
- 14:05announced their split, Alex and Olivia Jade reportedly posted
- 14:09photos together on Instagram Stories.
- 14:11So some people are trying to frame this as like, betrayal
- 14:13from Olivia to Alex. But like I don't think the two
- 14:17of them are friends. Also on Alex is I haven't
- 14:20watched this. I don't watch her podcast like
- 14:23her video podcast or whatever, but I saw she had Stassi
- 14:25Schroeder on and I saw a clip on social where Stassi was like you
- 14:28should date Jacob Lordy. And then Alex goes, I don't
- 14:30think we would get along. So aside from this pair being
- 14:33like somewhat relevant to us, I suppose I wanted to cover this
- 14:36news because like I said, it was broken by Dumois with these
- 14:40photos. But last week I actually forgot
- 14:43to cover the story and I was going to and I just like
- 14:45completely forgot because basically my phone is filled
- 14:47with screenshots all week. I am just like on social media
- 14:50when I see something that I want to cover on mini, I screenshot
- 14:52it. But sometimes then I'm like add
- 14:53an event and I take a million photos and I don't scroll up far
- 14:56enough to see the screenshots that I took before the event or
- 14:59whatever. So like it got lost in my camera
- 15:01roll, OK, and I forgot to cover it.
- 15:03But this kind of leads me into this.
- 15:05Dumois posted AI generated photos last week of Lily Rose
- 15:09Depp and a singer named Elia Benani.
- 15:12So she posted photos saying Lily Rose Depp and singer Elia Benani
- 15:15hanging out at a Los Angeles club.
- 15:17And it is the reason why this reminded me of the story is
- 15:19because the photos that she's posted of Braxton and Olivia are
- 15:23so similar to these photos. Like they are similar lighting.
- 15:26It's like similar vibes. They're like in a club together.
- 15:28It looks like they're very close and like very intimate.
- 15:31And I'm not saying that the photos of Braxton and Olivia are
- 15:33AI, definitely don't think they are.
- 15:35However, the fact that Jumoa posted this and then Lily Rose
- 15:39Depp commented saying I've never heard of this person, never been
- 15:42to this place. These are doctored video slash
- 15:45images and super violating. So after receiving this comment,
- 15:48Jumoa posted saying. I went to check the Alya girls
- 15:51TikTok earlier when the rumors first started going around and I
- 15:54noticed she posts AI videos of celebrities and acts like
- 15:58they're real. Just strange behavior.
- 16:00Now we've all been duped by AI and I know who's whole thing is
- 16:04that she doesn't verify anything because it's all like tips and
- 16:07blind items and stuff that sent in that she can't really verify
- 16:10herself. But I think that this is an
- 16:12example of how I believe media will have to change.
- 16:16Like for the past 10 years, the name of the game in digital
- 16:19media has been more and faster. Like I knew publishers here in
- 16:22Australia who would hire juniors and expect them to write up to
- 16:26like 10 articles a day. And this was literally before
- 16:29generative AI. It would have been an impossible
- 16:31job. Like content farm vibes.
- 16:34Like that has been the name of the game in digital media.
- 16:38And then of course, it's like more and faster culture in
- 16:40digital media was made even worse by TikTok.
- 16:42And I do think it's that culture that has helped with the
- 16:45mainstream ifification and and the normalization of accounts
- 16:48like Dumois and content that hinges on unverified claims like
- 16:52blind items. So now with the rise of AI and
- 16:55the risk of posting completely falsified photos, videos and
- 16:59information like what happened here, I wonder if digital media
- 17:04will be forced to slow down. I don't think it will happen
- 17:07soon. Like, I don't think that will be
- 17:09an overnight culture shift, but I do think it would be a good
- 17:13thing overall for us. But I do wonder if we will see
- 17:15that culture shift, especially for brands and creators and
- 17:19independent journalists who want to be taken seriously.
- 17:21I don't know. Let me know what you guys think
- 17:23about that. Anyways, guys, thanks so much
- 17:25for listening to Mini Scroll. I love you.
- 17:27Please rate, review and subscribe.
- 17:29There will be a deep dive tomorrow and then I will talk to
- 17:31you for Mini on Monday. Bye.
