- 0:38Hello, and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.
- 0:43I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 0:44Anderson, and today we're anchoring ourselves in the raw truth of God's word to answer this important foundational question.
- 0:52Is spiritual warfare biblical?
- 0:55And today, we're breaking down three of my favorite biblical pillars about spiritual warfare.
- 1:01Number one, the tactical blueprint we find in Ephesians chapter six, where we get the exact anatomy of the armor of God, not only exposing the precise targets the adversary shoots for, but also what God has given you to
- 1:17protect them.
- 1:18Number two, the Chariots of Fire protocol.
- 1:21This is one of my favorite Bible stories.
- 1:24Proves that what you can actually see is only part of your defensive reality.
- 1:30And number three, the master's combat hacks.
- 1:33I'm going to share with you two direct battle strategies that the Savior himself used and taught us that we can use as well.
- 1:41All right, let's kick it off by diving straight into Ephesians chapter 6.
- 1:46I vividly remember kneeling on my bedroom floor many years ago, feeling sick to my heart and my stomach over a new tactic the adversary was using in my home and in my family.
- 1:58And I was pouring out my heart to God to help me and to teach me what I could do.
- 2:03One of the solutions came when I opened my Scriptures to Ephesians chapter 6.
- 2:08Listen to these powerful verses in 10 through 12.
- 2:12Finally, my brethren, I'm going to add my sisters in there.
- 2:15Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.
- 2:19Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
- 2:26I love that word, stand for.
- 2:28We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
- 2:41Not only does Paul point out who our enemy is, but he teaches us how we can stand against the wiles of the devil by being strong in the Lord.
- 2:52As I looked at that text, I realized my children, my husband, are not the enemy.
- 2:58We are wrestling against an invisible, calculated Infrastructure of darkness.
- 3:04But God doesn't leave us exposed.
- 3:06In verses 13 through 18, he hands us interactive armor and each piece teaches us exactly what areas on us that the adversary is trying to breach and how God teaches us to protect it and arm it.
- 3:22Let's look at each of these.
- 3:23First, having our loins girt with truth.
- 3:26How important it is to know that we are children of God and arm ourselves with that truth.
- 3:32I am a daughter of God, I am a son of God, and I have worth and value in who I divinely am.
- 3:39Those are powerful truths to combat the adversary with.
- 3:43Next, the breastplate of righteousness.
- 3:46The enemy attacks your heart with crushing guilt and shame.
- 3:50But God teaches us that we can protect it with that breastplate of living in righteousness, which means living in Christ.
- 3:58That means repenting and forgiving and bringing Jesus along for the journey as a shield of righteousness on our bodies.
- 4:08Next, it talks about our feet being shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
- 4:13It's like putting on these armored shoes every day.
- 4:17And when there's sudden yelling matches in your hallway, you can walk a path of peace.
- 4:23You can be a peace bringer because you're walking with Jesus Christ.
- 4:28Next is the shield of faith.
- 4:30And what I love about a shield is you can use it not only to defend you, but to defend those you love.
- 4:36And your faith in Jesus Christ can protect them as well as you teaching others your testimony of how Jesus has helped and saved you from these faith fiery darts of the adversary that it describes in this verse.
- 4:49Next, we have the helmet of salvation.
- 4:52The enemy uses a lot of negative thoughts to try to get us to downward spiral into thinking I'm not enough to doubt our standing with God, to feel worthless, feel like nobody cares.
- 5:05But the helmet of salvation through Jesus can protect your mind, your thoughts with the certainty that Jesus loves you and he stands by you and that you are enough and can be forgiven through him and he will always,
- 5:22always love you.
- 5:24Finally, he talks about the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- 5:29I love that the sword of the Spirit is our offensive weapon.
- 5:32The Spirit is God's power and he also teaches us how to wield it.
- 5:37So, my friends, using the words of the scriptures, God's living word is a powerful offensive weapon.
- 5:44Every piece of armor is designed to keep you standing in the Lord and in the power of his might.
- 5:51But I know what it feels like when you look around your home and the armor feels heavy and you feel completely outnumbered by darkness or stress.
- 6:00Let's move on.
- 6:01To the chariots of fire protocol.
- 6:03This is one of my favorite stories in the Old Testament, and It's found in 2 Kings, chapter 6.
- 6:10The Syrian army had completely surrounded the city of Dothan by night.
- 6:16And Elisha's young servant woke up, saw the massive host surrounding the city, and completely panicked, saying, alas, my lord, how shall we do?
- 6:26He saw only the physical threat.
- 6:29Look at Elisha's calm, unbothered Response in verse 16.
- 6:34Fear not, for they be with us are more than they that be with them.
- 6:40And Elisha prayed a prayer that every mother needs to pray over her children.
- 6:45Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes that he may see.
- 6:50And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw.
- 6:54And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha and.
- 7:02And Elisha went then.
- 7:03And he commanded this army of angels to attack and protect him and the city.
- 7:10And they did so.
- 7:11My friends, the key here is first knowing that you have angels at your disposal and that you can invite them to be with you and to protect you and your family every single day.
- 7:23And that sure is a nice thing for me to know as a mom, that I can send angel warriors out with my children as they go off into the world.
- 7:32All right, finally, let's tackle Jesus Christ's combat hacks.
- 7:37If you want ultimate confirmation that spiritual warfare is real, you have no farther to look than Matthew chapter 4, where Jesus Christ went into the wilderness and he fasted and prayed for 40 days.
- 7:51And of course, when he was physically weak and exhausted, the adversary came tempting.
- 7:57This is where Jesus drew on that sword of the spirit, because every temptation Satan threw at him, Jesus responded.
- 8:05It is written.
- 8:06It is written.
- 8:07It is written.
- 8:08And he quoted a verse of Scripture.
- 8:11Jesus Christ weaponized the word of God as an active shield until he commanded, get thee hence, Satan.
- 8:19And the devil left him and angels came and ministered to him.
- 8:24So follow this hack that Jesus taught by memorizing a favorite verse of scripture to say when you're being attacked.
- 8:31I remember feeling a lot of anxiety as I was driving one day, trying to tackle something that was very, very stressful to me and the scripture.
- 8:41I repeated the entire drive there to combat the stress of the attack was, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, from Philippians 4:13.
- 8:51And it helped me get through that stressful day and overwhelming anxiety for hack number two from Jesus Christ.
- 8:58We learn in Matthew chapter 17 that sometimes a battle requires a tiered defense.
- 9:05Here, a desperate father brought his severely tormented son to the disciples.
- 9:10But they were unable to cast out the dark spirit.
- 9:13When Jesus arrived, he rebuked the enemy and heals the boy instantly.
- 9:18When the disciples pulled him aside later and asked why they couldn't cast it out, he taught them a vital rule of engagement against the adversary.
- 9:26Howbeit this kind goeth not out, but by prayer and fasting.
- 9:31Jesus was teaching that some deep strongholds of the enemy, generational trauma, heavy addictions, deep seated anxiety, will not bend to a simple casual prayer.
- 9:42Winning requires us to upscale our spiritual authority, call on the powers of heaven and combine prayer, maybe inviting family to even pray with fasting and to break the enemy's hold on you or your household.
- 9:57You can even ask for prayers among your congregation or among your sister warrior friends that God will guide you to the next right step to help you and your family overcome that current heavy battle.
- 10:10So my friends, spiritual warfare is not a modern invention, it is not a figment of your imagination, and it is explicitly, deeply biblical.
- 10:21The battle you're fighting over your kitchen counter and your children's hearts is the exact battle that was fought anciently by prophets and apostles and the Savior himself.
- 10:33You are the guardian of your home and God has already provided the armor, the angels and the absolute authority to win.
- 10:41To help you move from simply knowing this truth to deploying it on your household front lines in the morning, we have a great gift for you as a strategy guide.

- 11:28You, my friend, are a woman warrior of light and your perimeter is secure in Jesus Christ.
- 11:35Stand by him and with him and until next time, may you arise.
