Jake Marin ran HVAC programs at Efficiency Vermont for a decade — he built the state's first heat pump program in 2014 and grew it past 60,000 installs — before leaving to start TrueLoad. He makes the case that many of the electrical panel upgrades killing heat pump jobs were never necessary, and that the method for proving it has been sitting in one paragraph of the electrical code for years. Research out of Lawrence Berkeley National Lab found homes draw roughly 40% less than the traditional calculation predicts.
