- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo! Ready for some more numbers today? Luna: Yeah! Last time we did een tot vijf — one to five. I still practice them in my head. Lucas: That's great. So today we'll continue with the next five: zes, zeven, acht, negen, tien. Six to ten. Luna: Oh nice! I've heard tien before — that's ten, right? Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with six. Say: zes. Luna: Zes. Lucas: Perfect. Zes. Now seven: zeven. Luna: Zeven. Lucas: Good. Eight: acht. Luna: Acht. Lucas: Nine: negen. Luna: Negen. Lucas: And ten: tien. Luna: Tien. Lucas: Let's do them all together. Repeat after me: zes, zeven, acht, negen, tien. Luna: Zes, zeven, acht, negen, tien. Lucas: Awesome. Now let's imagine you're at a café ordering coffee. You want two coffees, but wait — you remember from episode 10 that two is twee. So you order twee koffie, and the barista says, 'That is zes euro.' Six euros. Luna: Oh, so zes is six! Lucas: Right. And if you order three coffees — drie koffie — that might be negen euro. Nine euros. Luna: Negen euro. Got it. So I can count my change. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice a little scene. I'll be the barista. You order one coffee. Luna: Okay. Hallo, een koffie, alsjeblieft. Lucas: Dat is twee euro. Luna: Twee euro. Dank je wel! Lucas: Good! Now ask for two coffees. Luna: Twee koffie, alsjeblieft. Lucas: Dat is vier euro. Luna: Vier euro. Oh, and that's vier — four. We learned that in episode 10 too. Lucas: Yes. Now let's add today's numbers. Say you order five coffees — vijf koffie. That would be tien euro. Luna: Vijf koffie is tien euro. So tien is ten. Nice. Lucas: Now let's count from one to ten in Dutch. Repeat after me: een, twee, drie, vier, vijf, zes, zeven, acht, negen, tien. Luna: Een, twee, drie, vier, vijf, zes, zeven, acht, negen, tien. Lucas: Perfect! Let's do it backwards: tien, negen, acht, zeven, zes, vijf, vier, drie, twee, een. Luna: Tien, negen, acht, zeven, zes, vijf, vier, drie, twee, een. Lucas: You're a natural. Now, quick quiz: what's seven in Dutch? Luna: Zeven. Lucas: And eight? Luna: Acht. Lucas: Six? Luna: Zes. Lucas: Nine? Luna: Negen. Lucas: Ten? Luna: Tien. Lucas: Yes! You got them all. Let's use them in a little story. Imagine you're at a market and you buy apples. You buy zes apples. Then you buy zeven bananas. And acht oranges. How many pieces of fruit do you have? Luna: Let me think... zes plus zeven is dertien, plus acht is eenentwintig. Wait, I don't know those numbers yet! Lucas: That's okay. We'll get there. For now, just count the apples: zes appels. Luna: Zes appels. Lucas: And the bananas: zeven bananen. Luna: Zeven bananen. Lucas: And the oranges: acht sinaasappels. Luna: Acht sinaasappels. Lucas: Great. Now, let's say you want to buy negen eggs. Luna: Negen eieren. Lucas: And tien cookies. Luna: Tien koekjes. Lucas: Perfect. You're using the numbers naturally. Luna: Thanks! I think I've got zes, zeven, acht, negen, tien down. Lucas: Let's do one more round. I'll say a number in English, you say it in Dutch. Six. Luna: Zes. Lucas: Seven. Luna: Zeven. Lucas: Eight. Luna: Acht. Lucas: Nine. Luna: Negen. Lucas: Ten. Luna: Tien. Lucas: Excellent! Now you can count from one to ten in Dutch. Practice this week, and next time we'll build on it. Luna: I will. Thanks, Lucas! This was fun. Lucas: You're welcome. Thanks for listening to Learn Dutch with Fexingo. Practice zes, zeven, acht, negen, tien until we meet again. Dag! Luna: Dag!
