- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here with Ag Bull Media, the morning show you need to start your day.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to talk about the ProFarmer Crop Tour.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: We're going to talk a bit of a summary of the conversation I had with Mike Sands yesterday, and Walmart is in the headlines this morning.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that here in a bit.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Live cattle were down$1.70 at$217.23.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Hogs, however, remained resilient.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: They were still in the green.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: They were about a three-quarters of a buck up at$81.5.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: As I quote the market here live with our quotes from plus$500, we use plus$500 T4 software here at Ag Bull to trade the markets and get real-time quotes.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Corn September or December contract, new crop corn is at five dollars.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: That's a big five in front of that and four cents.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Soybeans are at twelve twenty-five and three quarters.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Chicago wheat September at six dollars and eighty-seven cents a bushel.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: On to the weather discussion for today.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Triggered flash flood warnings.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: But the corn belt is going to turn drier here in the next coming days, hopefully to allow some of that water to get, you know, kind of soak in, and maybe some of it'll evaporate if we can get some clear days here to let it kind of dry up in the corners of some fields.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Around the 25th of August, we are going to see a break in the heat pattern for the southern plains.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: That's going to be great to see.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: It's not going to be much, but the highs won't be start with a one anymore.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: They'll start with a nine, which is still an improvement in the right direction.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: The Crop Tour is about to finish.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: The crop tour wraps up today with Iowa and Minnesota reporting tonight, and the national crop corn and soybeans estimates are due Friday.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Five states in so far are consistently coming in lighter than the USDA's August call.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Indiana, Ohio, Nebraska, and Eastern Iowa, and some of Illinois are all missed, kind of the predictions that they had for their yields.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: You know, it is really interesting to watch this pro farmer crop tour.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of coverage throughout the day.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Tommy has been on every morning.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: He's going to be on again this morning, so I encourage you to go and watch him.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: He's kind of been a pretty comical guy there the past couple days.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: And what this has done to the market is clearly evident.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: This huge rally that we have seen on, especially the corn side, and it's flooded on over into the beans and the wheat, has been because of this pro farmer crop tour and a lot of the weather.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: So love it or hate it, gotta pay attention to the pro farmer crop tour.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: On the cattle discussion for today, we saw a big down day yesterday, like I alluded to, and it has really been a cocktail of factors that have caused this.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: A lot of negative news is what Mr.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Mike Sands and I talked about yesterday.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: The Mexican border here is reopening.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: We have a cattle on feed number that is expected to have lower marketings and lower placements come out here on Friday.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: We'll see if that holds true.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Not to mention, we had a plant closed down, screw worms still on kind of everyone's brains, and why we need to why we even had to close down the southern border in the first place.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: All of these things are affecting the cattle market, and I encourage you to hop on over to our premium side,$25 a month,$250 annually, to catch that Mike Sands show.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: We covered a lot of stuff, and I thought it was super beneficial.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Walmart was on the front page this morning.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Walmart hikes full year outlook.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: The Walmart beat Wall Street Journal, the Wall Street's expectations for its second fiscal quarter sales, and it hiked its full year outlook.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: CFO John David Rainey told CNBC the retailer was eligible to get$2.9 billion in tariff refunds and has just under a hundred million yet to receive.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: He said Walmart plans to use those refunds to lower prices.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: We'll see if that holds true.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Walmart also said it saw another quarter of strong e-commerce and membership growth.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: It is always important to follow the end sale with regards to agriculture.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Now, I know there's not a ton of you know positive connotation a lot of times when we talk about Walmart.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: But man, they sell a lot of our products, guys, and there's a lot of hands that they go through until then.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: But that is the direct contact point to the consumer for so many agricultural products.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: And if they're doing well, well we gotta say they're doing something right, and we gotta track their progress there.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: On the economic calendar for today, here at 7 30 in a few minutes, export sales come out.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Jobless claims is it is at the same time, and natural gas storage change comes out at 9 30 a.m.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Those are all central time.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Well, that's all I have for you today.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: I highly encourage that you watch Ag Squawk P.M.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Davis is Davis's slate of guests that he's have had on recently have been absolute heaters.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Tuesday's show with the folks from Acre Hedge might be my all-time favorite show.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I encourage you.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: It's on all platforms to go ahead and look at that one.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Those folks are doing prediction markets in agriculture.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: You can bet on where the price of diesel fuel will be.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: You can bet on where the price of potash will be and use it to hedge your markets.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Right now, they have a discount going on and they have some really interesting markets that you can put a position on.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: I really encourage you to go on over to Acre Hedge.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: That was a great episode.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: We had Jesse Allen on yesterday.
