- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your move. One more thing. I'm strong andy, one
- 0:05Speaker 1: more thing. So I wish I knew the actual number
- 0:10Speaker 1: on this. I don't. Maybe you'd have a guess what
- 0:14Speaker 1: do you think I paid for my used elliptical I
- 0:19Speaker 1: bought fifteen years ago. It's a really good one. It's
- 0:27Speaker 1: actually from a gym, so it's the heavy duty commercial quality. Sure,
- 0:32Speaker 1: like you use it the gym. It's freaking really really good.
- 0:35Speaker 1: But I bought it used. Would you have a guess
- 0:37Speaker 1: what I probably.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Paid for it knew when it was new used?
- 0:43Speaker 1: When I bought it from Craigslist five hundred bucks. I
- 0:48Speaker 1: was going to go seven hundred.
- 0:50Speaker 2: You think it was a gym quality?
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yeah, more than that, because I bought one much more
- 0:54Speaker 3: recently than that.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I was just trying to figure out hundreds to low,
- 1:01Speaker 3: like twelve hundred bucks.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah, might have been anyway, because I just moved it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: For see, I was living in that house, moved to
- 1:10Speaker 1: that house, moved to this house. This is the fourth
- 1:12Speaker 1: place I've had it in and I've used it. I
- 1:17Speaker 1: don't know what the total I've spent on moving it.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I just googling to see roughly what it costs. But
- 1:23Speaker 1: this is the fourth place I've moved it to, and
- 1:25Speaker 1: so because it weighs more than three hundred pounds, there's
- 1:28Speaker 1: a special price for that. So I paid a couple
- 1:31Speaker 1: of hundred bucks to have it moved again. The total
- 1:36Speaker 1: amount of time cumulative that I've spent on that elliptical
- 1:42Speaker 1: machine has got to be less than twenty minutes in
- 1:47Speaker 1: fifteen years. In fifteen years.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Wow, you can get like a high dollar hooker for
- 1:54Speaker 3: a lower hourly rate than that.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Well, I'm not worried about the price. I'm putting it
- 1:58Speaker 1: in the category of is this the stupidest, craziest, least
- 2:05Speaker 1: sensical thing I've ever done in my life? And that's
- 2:08Speaker 1: a high bar, trust me.
- 2:09Speaker 4: They like, do you have a plan in life where
- 2:12Speaker 4: you're like, I'm gonna I'm gonna get on that thing
- 2:14Speaker 4: that's going to be after work going home thirty minutes.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I guess, Okay, I guess I do.
- 2:22Speaker 3: It's hard to get a good quality gym level used
- 2:26Speaker 3: elliptical for less than fifteen hundred dollars, okay, which is
- 2:29Speaker 3: essentially what I remember.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I might have spent a thousand dollars on it, but
- 2:32Speaker 1: I've spent another thousand dollars moving it four times at
- 2:35Speaker 1: least and again cumulative over fifteen years, twenty minutes, and
- 2:43Speaker 1: I'm probably on the high end.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Use it or sell it in a minute and a
- 2:47Speaker 3: half per year. Yeah, I'm gonna use it or sell it.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Jack, you use it or sell it at what point? Now? Yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 1: it's not. It's sort of become like a I don't know,
- 2:58Speaker 1: almost like a Joe. Now.
- 3:01Speaker 4: I was one of those sorry folks that fell victim
- 3:03Speaker 4: to the Peloton during COVID, the Peloton bikes, and I
- 3:09Speaker 4: used that thing twice and then it turned into a
- 3:12Speaker 4: really nice clothing rack, and I was like, I gotta
- 3:14Speaker 4: get rid of this thing.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Right, Wow, that's funny.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I've used a peloton more than that at the gym,
- 3:18Speaker 3: but not for some time.
- 3:22Speaker 4: So the.
- 3:25Speaker 3: We did not love the seats, and I got a
- 3:27Speaker 3: piece of gear. You don't actually so yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Where were we? Oh?
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, give yourself two weeks and then get rid of
- 3:35Speaker 3: the damn thing. But throwing good money after bad although,
- 3:38Speaker 3: as you say, it's kind of become almost a family.
- 3:41Speaker 3: It's kind of be an heirloom of futility, a Charlie Brownish.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Thinking my kids might use it. Yes, Michael, No, I
- 3:48Speaker 1: say just dump it, just take it the dump. No, no, no, no,
- 3:51Speaker 1: it's definitely too nice. I would I would give it
- 3:53Speaker 1: to a family or something before I take it to
- 3:54Speaker 1: the dump, because it's a great piece of equipment. It
- 3:57Speaker 1: really really is high quality, really good one.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Here's what you do.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I got a brilliant idea. You just you're in a store,
- 4:03Speaker 3: you're walking down the street. You come across a heavy
- 4:06Speaker 3: set person and you say, hey, I noticed you're pretty porky.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I have an elliptical for you.
- 4:14Speaker 1: You probably have bad knees, right carrying that luggage around. Huh.
- 4:20Speaker 1: You don't want to run or walk. That's what it's
- 4:22Speaker 1: great about the elliptical. All you have to do is
- 4:26Speaker 1: pick it up. As I'll walk up to and say,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you're probably what thirty three thirty four thirty four? What bmi?
- 4:32Speaker 1: Probably thirty four bmi? Wow, not an elliptical?
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, go up and put a measuring tape around their waist.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Jeez, oh my god.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah. I'll tell you what there.
- 4:44Speaker 3: What's underrated by people who don't understand economies and markets
- 4:48Speaker 3: and that sort of thing is the concept of and
- 4:52Speaker 3: I don't know the technical term, but it's the infrastructure
- 4:56Speaker 3: to sell the ability to you know, obviously taking money
- 5:02Speaker 3: and give out a product, that's the obvious part, that's
- 5:04Speaker 3: the easy part. But to hold an inventory, to ship it,
- 5:07Speaker 3: to deliver it, to be a place where multiple buyers
- 5:11Speaker 3: can come and the price can be set by the
- 5:13Speaker 3: free market as opposed to add dude with analyptical who
- 5:18Speaker 3: wants to get rid of it? You are in such
- 5:20Speaker 3: a weak position.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Yeah, so I will tell you Facebook marketplace and offer
- 5:26Speaker 5: up as where I've gotten rid of both of my
- 5:28Speaker 5: pieces of exercise equipment that were large, and you can
- 5:31Speaker 5: select by pickup only.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Okay, it's worked easily. So Joe and I both had
- 5:38Speaker 1: Nordic tracks twenty five years ago because we were endorsing
- 5:42Speaker 1: Nordic track thank you Gladys. And it was the nicest
- 5:45Speaker 1: Nordi tracks they made, so they're kind of expensive, and
- 5:49Speaker 1: I use that one like, I don't know, five minutes anyway,
- 5:52Speaker 1: when I went to move, I wasn't going to haul
- 5:53Speaker 1: that across the country, and I uh, I think I
- 5:59Speaker 1: put an ad in the for it. That's how long
- 6:01Speaker 1: it was ago, and nobody was interested. And then I
- 6:04Speaker 1: asked people around and nobody is interested. And then I
- 6:06Speaker 1: took it to the good Will and they said look
- 6:08Speaker 1: over there, and in the corner they had like fifteen
- 6:10Speaker 1: order tracks. Said we're not taking any more tracks. And
- 6:14Speaker 1: I try. I drove around with that thing in the
- 6:16Speaker 1: back of my truck to different good Wills and various
- 6:18Speaker 1: those kinds of places, Salvation Army, and nobody would take it.
- 6:21Speaker 1: You literally couldn't give it away. I finally, out of
- 6:24Speaker 1: frustration after dark, drove behind the good Will, pushed it
- 6:27Speaker 1: out of the back of my truck and drove off.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Wow. Oh, confess to felony littering.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Exercise equipment. Just it's amazing that they sell so much
- 6:40Speaker 1: of it new. There are stores. There's a store not
- 6:42Speaker 1: far from here from the radio station that sells that
- 6:44Speaker 1: stuff new all the time. And they've been in business
- 6:46Speaker 1: for a long time, so they must sell stuff. Man,
- 6:48Speaker 1: by that you.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Host you two hundred dollars to get rid of it.
- 6:52Speaker 3: That's my prediction.
- 6:54Speaker 1: You're probably right. I'll keep it. I'll keep it in
- 6:57Speaker 1: this house. Maybe next move I'll finally just nah. You know.
- 7:01Speaker 1: One of the problems this this makes me feel better
- 7:02Speaker 1: by myself, so maybe I'm just kidding myself. One of
- 7:05Speaker 1: the reasons I don't use it as much is I
- 7:07Speaker 1: live someplace northern California where the climate is so good.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I always think I'd rather go outside and do it.
- 7:12Speaker 1: So I like, I walk a half hour forty five
- 7:15Speaker 1: minutes almost every single night. But the weather's perfect, so
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna go outside. Yeah, I'm not.
- 7:23Speaker 3: God, you're not exercising on that thing because the weather's
- 7:26Speaker 3: so nice.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Right, well, I am getting exercise, all yeah? Or I
- 7:31Speaker 1: ride my bike just.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Sure, ambling down the street.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yes, walking into the donut shop, walking back out of
- 7:37Speaker 1: the donut shop.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Right, looking for somebody heavy to give your elliptical to.
- 7:42Speaker 1: One other thing on the move in my crap was
- 7:44Speaker 1: I have so many things that I've moved that like
- 7:46Speaker 1: it's a like a kind of a bookshelf where it's
- 7:49Speaker 1: a lamp or whatever. Like I would never buy it.
- 7:52Speaker 1: It's it's it's crappy and I don't even need it,
- 7:56Speaker 1: but I move it. It's just it's weird. The in
- 7:59Speaker 1: Nurse of Stuff, I kept thinking about that Merry Condo
- 8:03Speaker 1: woman and what did she call that whole thing where
- 8:06Speaker 1: you're supposed to hold up rid of crap. You hold
- 8:09Speaker 1: up every item and see if it makes your heart singing.
- 8:11Speaker 1: If it doesn't, you're supposed to throw it away, which
- 8:13Speaker 1: makes more sense than not. I got so many things.
- 8:15Speaker 1: It's just like I would never purchase this if somebody
- 8:18Speaker 1: offered it to me in the street, I wouldn't say yes.
- 8:21Speaker 1: But I have it, and I move it from house
- 8:22Speaker 1: to house. What is that? It's weird. Yeah, the inertia
- 8:27Speaker 1: of stuff or things that belong. I don't even know
- 8:30Speaker 1: what it is.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Depends on your personality type and how you grew up too.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Right. The throwing something away that's perfectly good would not
- 8:41Speaker 1: happen in my house as a kid.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Well, right, exactly.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I've been familiar with spoiled, little rich kids who they
- 8:48Speaker 3: would waste crap or get rid of crap or whatever
- 8:52Speaker 3: mean anything to them. It's an odd It's like the
- 8:54Speaker 3: flip side of a good quality. Like you say, you're
- 8:59Speaker 3: not gonna get rid of something that has value that's usable.
- 9:03Speaker 3: You're going to use it until it's crap and then
- 9:05Speaker 3: you'll replace it.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Man.
- 9:07Speaker 2: But yeah, I know.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Hanson asked the question, is a dad, how many boxes
- 9:11Speaker 1: of kids artwork do I have? I got several, not
- 9:14Speaker 1: very big boxes, because you know it doesn't make a
- 9:15Speaker 1: lot of space, but I got quite a bit kids
- 9:17Speaker 1: art work through the years. I always think I'm going
- 9:19Speaker 1: to go through those one at a time someday, and
- 9:20Speaker 1: maybe I will, or maybe I won't. What did you
- 9:23Speaker 1: do finally? You still have that?
- 9:25Speaker 3: Or down to one box per kid? Okay, and he's
- 9:28Speaker 3: the flat plastic boxes that are Did you go through
- 9:32Speaker 3: it painstakingly and pick out your favorite stuff? Or yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 3: we curated it like a museum. Two Revolutionary War soldier
- 9:43Speaker 3: uniforms is plenty.
- 9:44Speaker 2: We don't need thirteen. Let's get a couple of Civil
- 9:47Speaker 2: War era and then you know it's kind of curated
- 9:51Speaker 2: it now.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Every yell, every birthday card, Father's Day card that I
- 9:55Speaker 1: get in from my kids, I got all those still
- 9:57Speaker 1: in one spot. Those aren't going anywhere until I die.
- 10:00Speaker 2: No agreed, yeh one hundred percent.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know if I need every stick
- 10:04Speaker 1: figure on a bike from every grade. I think that'll
- 10:07Speaker 1: work well. If anybody wants a Buns of Steel DVD,
- 10:11Speaker 1: contact me well, and a Sie Master, right, I guess
- 10:18Speaker 1: that's it
