- 1:57Speaker 3: to the show. Appreciate that. And she's undertaken a passion
- 2:01Speaker 3: of hers that she first discovered as her husband was
- 2:05Speaker 3: sick in an out of state hospital and she saw
- 2:08Speaker 3: the need for affordable places for people to stay as
- 2:11Speaker 3: their loved ones were undergoing medical treatment. It's really, really

- 2:35Speaker 3: Tony the Taylor Text three zero four nine three five
- 2:38Speaker 3: five zero zero eight. It is always a pleasure to
- 2:40Speaker 3: welcome into the show in person today, the lovely and
- 2:44Speaker 3: talented Millie Snyder. How are you.
- 2:47Speaker 5: I'm wonderful, Thank you, And may I tell you the
- 2:50Speaker 5: snow is really not that bad out there.
- 2:53Speaker 3: It doesn't matter. You wouldn't care no matter what it was,
- 2:57Speaker 3: because I gave you the option. We had just set
- 2:59Speaker 3: up to go and I told Colonel Ron Hughes, I said, look,
- 3:01Speaker 3: if Millie wants to call in. She's she can't by
- 3:05Speaker 3: gud here, she is. You're here before. Most of the
- 3:07Speaker 3: employees are here today, but you're here in personally.
- 3:09Speaker 5: When my daughter was younger, we lived on a street
- 3:12Speaker 5: that had a hill, and of course I would take
- 3:14Speaker 5: her to school and I would say to Jennifer, if
- 3:17Speaker 5: we make it to the top of the hill, we're
- 3:19Speaker 5: a monkey's uncle. And today she said, I said, I'm
- 3:23Speaker 5: going to do my regular thing. I'm going to be
- 3:25Speaker 5: on radio. She said, of course, mother, you're a monkey's uncle.
- 3:28Speaker 5: So therefore that's a new identifier for Millie Snyder.
- 3:32Speaker 3: I got to get into this quick story and then
- 3:34Speaker 3: I know you told me you've got a big announcement
- 3:36Speaker 3: you want to make, and we'll get to that, but
- 3:37Speaker 3: I want to say this. I introduced you to Steve Annimal,
- 3:41Speaker 3: who was roaming around the halls from our sister station
- 3:43Speaker 3: ninety eight seven A mouth. By the way, You're not
- 3:45Speaker 3: to talk to Steve Animal because he will corrupt you, okay,
- 3:48Speaker 3: But I introduced you to him and we got to
- 3:50Speaker 3: talking about you know, music. You and I did you
- 3:52Speaker 3: off here and you told me a story about going
- 3:55Speaker 3: to an Eagles concert. I did I need you to
- 3:58Speaker 3: repeat that story for the listeners please.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Friends of mine a number of years ago invited me
- 4:04Speaker 5: to join them in Columbus to an Eagles concert. And
- 4:08Speaker 5: I actually had a wonderful evening and didn't get home
- 4:12Speaker 5: to three o'clock in the morning because the person drove.
- 4:15Speaker 5: You know, we I think we ate dinner at some
- 4:18Speaker 5: gas station. Anyway, it's not important. Well, the next morning
- 4:22Speaker 5: my daughter called me and she said, where were you
- 4:25Speaker 5: last night? Mother? I said, I went to an Eagles concert,
- 4:28Speaker 5: And she said, may I please speak to my mother
- 4:31Speaker 5: because she did not believe that I went to an
- 4:35Speaker 5: Eagles concert. I actually enjoyed myself and had a great time.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Well, you know, and I have a feeling that if
- 4:40Speaker 3: the Eagles were to come to town. Of course, the
- 4:42Speaker 3: tickets are like you know when they do tours now,
- 4:44Speaker 3: it's like five hundred bucks apiece. But if they did
- 4:46Speaker 3: decide to come, you'd probably be there again, wouldn't you.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Well, only for a nostalgia. Yeah, I want to see
- 4:51Speaker 5: if they are good the second time.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Millie Snyder is here, all right, So, so are you
- 4:57Speaker 3: a person that enjoys the cold weather? The cold snugus?
- 5:00Speaker 3: There's two or three types of people, people that you know,
- 5:02Speaker 3: I like the people in West Virginia that say I
- 5:05Speaker 3: like the four seasons, I like a little bit of change.
- 5:08Speaker 3: This is ridiculous. And there's people that say that that
- 5:10Speaker 3: they can't stand it. There's people that say, I want
- 5:13Speaker 3: it to be as hot as possible. I'm not a fan.
- 5:17Speaker 3: People that know this show, No I don't. I did
- 5:20Speaker 3: test I'm sorry, Joe Stevens from the Ski Association, but
- 5:22Speaker 3: I did test winter, and I did test snow, and
- 5:25Speaker 3: then I realized the economic impact I'm talking about just
- 5:28Speaker 3: for me, because in this world now it's all about me.
- 5:30Speaker 5: You know that I never doubted that.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Well, I can't stand it, I really and this winter
- 5:37Speaker 3: has been the longest seven years of my life.
- 5:40Speaker 6: I really can't say.
- 5:41Speaker 5: In November, I don't know whether it was close to
- 5:44Speaker 5: Thanksgiving or the first of December, but I read that
- 5:47Speaker 5: we were going to have a mild winter, and whoever
- 5:50Speaker 5: wrote that was either on something or totally delusionary you
- 5:55Speaker 5: because we've had more snow than I remember it's and.
- 6:01Speaker 3: What we temperatures well, and that's really a bigger deal
- 6:04Speaker 3: because than the snow, because we've only really had one
- 6:07Speaker 3: quote unquote big snow, and that was the one in January.
- 6:10Speaker 3: This snow out here, there's not a lot of it,
- 6:12Speaker 3: but because of the temperature, it's creating a lot of issues.
- 6:15Speaker 3: And let's be honest, you know, the scraping they can
- 6:17Speaker 3: only do so much. Salting really doesn't do a heck
- 6:20Speaker 3: of a lot when it's as cold as what it
- 6:22Speaker 3: is now. So I just thought I would.
- 6:24Speaker 5: I'm grateful that my car is four wheel drive.
- 6:27Speaker 3: But you got to be careful because four wheel drive,
- 6:31Speaker 3: that's that's you know. Keep in mind, that really didn't
- 6:34Speaker 3: do a whole lot of ice. So let's get that.
- 6:36Speaker 5: And I am taking my time and being careful that
- 6:39Speaker 5: I got stuff to do.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I know you did because you said when you left
- 6:42Speaker 3: here you started telling me in your itinerary. I got
- 6:44Speaker 3: tired of listening to you because you were telling me
- 6:47Speaker 3: all of the things you had to do when you
- 6:48Speaker 3: left here, including going to work out.
- 6:50Speaker 7: Yes.
- 6:50Speaker 5: Because oh and by the way, many people who know me,
- 6:54Speaker 5: because of some many many back surgeries, I've been using
- 6:56Speaker 5: a cane to help me maneuver. And the care has
- 7:00Speaker 5: been arrested, not by the blaw, just I put it
- 7:03Speaker 5: away because I'm getting stronger and I'm walking without it,
- 7:07Speaker 5: and I'm very excited.
- 7:08Speaker 3: There you go talking to Millie Snyder. All right, you
- 7:11Speaker 3: said you had a big announcement. You want to get
- 7:13Speaker 3: that now.
- 7:13Speaker 5: And you know, I teach a group for healthy eating,
- 7:17Speaker 5: and I for years now have called it fix it
- 7:20Speaker 5: with foods. Well it's no longer known as fix it
- 7:24Speaker 5: with foods. It is now Mediterranean mindset, a sustainable way
- 7:30Speaker 5: of life, and I'm excited about that. We're going to
- 7:33Speaker 5: put out I'm going to pick up some posters over
- 7:35Speaker 5: at Charleston Blueprint and hopefully people will help me get
- 7:39Speaker 5: them out.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Hope you can get all that on, all that on
- 7:42Speaker 3: one it is, it's on.
- 7:43Speaker 5: There already, Okay, on I should have brought one in.
- 7:47Speaker 5: But more importantly, the Mediterranean lifestyle is the way to eat,
- 7:52Speaker 5: is the way to go. And I am very very
- 7:55Speaker 5: sad because the things around all of this segma glue
- 8:00Speaker 5: tide that people are using to get thin. It's not
- 8:05Speaker 5: a long term answer, it's a temporary fix. And what
- 8:09Speaker 5: I'm concerned with is people eating and eating in a
- 8:12Speaker 5: healthy way, and that's what Mediterranean is. It's not about medication.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Medication is kind of a false I guess narrative in.
- 8:23Speaker 3: So many different ways other than just diet.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Yes, yes, I know that, and I don't think I
- 8:28Speaker 5: don't think I could list them all and still stay
- 8:30Speaker 5: within your time frame. But I'm very, very concerned. I
- 8:35Speaker 5: saw a sign in Kanas City yesterday that said diet
- 8:39Speaker 5: shots half price, and that told me all that I
- 8:42Speaker 5: needed to know. Because half price, it's not the cost
- 8:45Speaker 5: of the of the medication. It's that it's being pushed
- 8:50Speaker 5: at us in a very very unprofessional way.
- 8:53Speaker 3: I would agree with that. We are talking again with
- 8:56Speaker 3: Millie Snyder, So why what made you lead to the
- 8:59Speaker 3: or go to this name change or not a name change,
- 9:01Speaker 3: but the branding so to speak?
- 9:03Speaker 5: On that well, because fix it with foods didn't really
- 9:06Speaker 5: tell you what it was. I mean, fix it with
- 9:08Speaker 5: foods with what cookies, candy, ice cream, French fries. So
- 9:12Speaker 5: it's more of explain. I can't even say the word
- 9:17Speaker 5: explanatory came out of my mouth. And I think that
- 9:20Speaker 5: people can will be able to identify it more readily
- 9:24Speaker 5: and make a more open minded choice, and I hope
- 9:27Speaker 5: more people will come. We meet at the Prosperity Center
- 9:30Speaker 5: at Goodwill and if the weather doesn't really get bad.
- 9:33Speaker 5: We're going to have our meeting tomorrow morning. If for
- 9:36Speaker 5: weather reasons people can come, then of course we'll see
- 9:40Speaker 5: them next week. But we're seeing some new people and
- 9:43Speaker 5: that's exciting and people want to get started as soon
- 9:46Speaker 5: as possible. We're already into the second month of the year.
- 9:50Speaker 5: Usually people join the first week, but that's not the
- 9:53Speaker 5: first week of the year. But really joining when your
- 9:57Speaker 5: mind is made up, and Mediterranean is the way to go,
- 10:00Speaker 5: and never take Millie's word. Always ask your doctor, and
- 10:05Speaker 5: most doctors will say Mediterranean is the way. It's been
- 10:09Speaker 5: around for a long time. Jesus and Mohammad ate this way.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Maybe Picasso, who knows, I mean, what supermarket did they
- 10:17Speaker 5: go to?
- 10:17Speaker 3: Exactly exactly? But they've allen showing five any life brought
- 10:20Speaker 3: to you in part about Pinnacle Consultants. Their services involved
- 10:23Speaker 3: developing comprehensive management plans to outline strategies for controlling to
- 10:27Speaker 3: minimizing as best as exposure. Perfect for commercial property owners
- 10:30Speaker 3: and managers. Vis A Pinnacle Corp dot net because what
- 10:32Speaker 3: you don't know can't hurt you. When people attend these classes, Melly,
- 10:35Speaker 3: what do you do? I mean, it's an education it's
- 10:37Speaker 3: education and yell atam or what do you do?
- 10:39Speaker 5: No, we don't yell, I don't know, I know. Actually
- 10:42Speaker 5: we have a lot of fun and we let people
- 10:45Speaker 5: set the pace. But every week we give additional important
- 10:50Speaker 5: information about food, health, things that we can all benefit from.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Ones we read it and put it into action. But
- 10:58Speaker 5: when a person comes on board Word with Mediterranean, we
- 11:01Speaker 5: never just hand them a book. We sit with them
- 11:04Speaker 5: and teach them the program item for item for item.
- 11:08Speaker 5: It should never be oh, just take this home and
- 11:11Speaker 5: read it, because that's not that's not where you get
- 11:14Speaker 5: group support. And group support is so essentially important.
- 11:18Speaker 3: In so many different things. You know, whether you're trying
- 11:20Speaker 3: to kick a habit or whether you're just trying to
- 11:22Speaker 3: have somebody to you know, to to you know me,
- 11:26Speaker 3: to look at you need to and accountability, accountability.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Accountability, you know it's not we do. We do get
- 11:33Speaker 5: weighed in. But the point is it's not about whether
- 11:36Speaker 5: it's win or lose. It's about your health and improvement
- 11:40Speaker 5: and feeling good about yourself. And when you can do that,
- 11:43Speaker 5: you've done something that is worthy because you're worthy.
- 11:47Speaker 3: One of the knocks that that we always get on
- 11:50Speaker 3: healthy eating of any kind, and we have textures to
- 11:52Speaker 3: show so. And they're right about this, by the way.
- 11:54Speaker 3: They say it's just too expensive.
- 11:57Speaker 5: And especially right now because we are going through crazy inflation.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly. And people will say, well, it's just
- 12:04Speaker 3: so much, especially maybe you've got a family, you got
- 12:06Speaker 3: a couple of kids. It's so much easier to hit
- 12:08Speaker 3: the drive through. It's so much easier to hit the
- 12:10Speaker 3: pizza roles or whatever. But one of the things about
- 12:12Speaker 3: Mediterranean is that a lot of the stuff is not
- 12:17Speaker 3: that expensive, correct, And that's one thank you for pointing out.
- 12:20Speaker 3: That's one of the key things talking.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Because we're using fruits and vegetables, and yes, they can
- 12:24Speaker 5: be frozen, they can be canned. It doesn't mean that
- 12:27Speaker 5: you have to buy the premiere item from the produce section.
- 12:32Speaker 5: There's so many ways to do it, and you don't
- 12:35Speaker 5: have to buy the name brand. You can get an
- 12:38Speaker 5: off brand because it's all made in the same factory anyway,
- 12:41Speaker 5: they have a label room and people don't realize that.
- 12:45Speaker 5: And so there is a way to incorporate proteins that
- 12:49Speaker 5: can be a whole assortment of different kind of beans,
- 12:54Speaker 5: and there are recipes for meatless meals for We have
- 12:58Speaker 5: Mediterranean recipes and cookbooks that will help people, and it's
- 13:02Speaker 5: a handholding process where we want to show you there's
- 13:05Speaker 5: another way to do it. It doesn't have to be
- 13:08Speaker 5: the most expensive beef or the most expensive fish. You
- 13:12Speaker 5: can do it with cantuna. You can do it with
- 13:15Speaker 5: sardines if that's something you like. That's not a requirement,
- 13:19Speaker 5: but it's a choice. So happens that sardines are good
- 13:22Speaker 5: for you because it's a darker fish, and people need
- 13:26Speaker 5: to learn that. The more the better your choices. The
- 13:31Speaker 5: more you learn and you feel great. You start feeling
- 13:35Speaker 5: a way that you feel more. You just feel healthy
- 13:38Speaker 5: and you don't even know what's causing it. And yes,
- 13:40Speaker 5: if you look at the food that you eat, that
- 13:43Speaker 5: is what's making the changes happen.
- 13:46Speaker 3: All right, tell us where the meetings are again, When
- 13:47Speaker 3: and where we.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Meet Thursday morning at ten o'clock. Eventually we will add
- 13:51Speaker 5: some more meetings, but right now we're Thursday morning at ten.
- 13:54Speaker 5: We're in the Prosperity Center, which is in the good
- 13:57Speaker 5: Will building. It's right on the west side and it's
- 14:01Speaker 5: just a beautiful place. The meeting rooms are till your
- 14:05Speaker 5: mouth will drop open. They're beautiful and they are so
- 14:08Speaker 5: kind and wonderful to us. In fact, all the members
- 14:11Speaker 5: get free water, free coffee, and it's very exciting. So
- 14:15Speaker 5: it's a warm and welcoming place. There's some parking on
- 14:18Speaker 5: the street, a little bit of a parking lot, but
- 14:21Speaker 5: not much. But you know, if you walk a half
- 14:23Speaker 5: a block it's not going to hurt anybody. Not tomorrow,
- 14:26Speaker 5: because it's going to be a little icy.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Yeah, And is there a Facebook page or something?
- 14:29Speaker 5: So there will be a new Facebook page appeering and
- 14:32Speaker 5: it will be Mediterranean mindset. We had our Facebook page
- 14:36Speaker 5: fixed fixed for fix it with foods, but then I decided.
- 14:40Speaker 3: You know, that's a good idea because again it doesn't
- 14:42Speaker 3: tell you exactly what it is. Yeah, Millie Snyder catchers
- 14:46Speaker 3: soon on tour with the Eagles. I appreciate you being here,
- 14:48Speaker 3: Thanks a lot.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Da.
- 14:49Speaker 3: We're going to take a break a little bit later.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Ron will join Wilson to meadows at the Capitol. We're
- 14:54Speaker 3: going to talk about this very very special lady I

- 17:49Speaker 3: Let us now check in with the President of Bridge Valley,
- 17:52Speaker 3: doctor Casey Sachs. Doctor Sax, good morning, welcome to the.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Show, Dave.
- 17:55Speaker 12: Great to be with you today.
- 17:57Speaker 3: So what's the status of things of at Bridge Valley.
- 17:59Speaker 3: This already on the snowy Wednesday the Tech.
- 18:02Speaker 12: Park is doing an amazing job clearing the snow. They've
- 18:04Speaker 12: been out there all morning.
- 18:06Speaker 3: All right, So it's all systems ago up at Bridge
- 18:08Speaker 3: Valley today.
- 18:10Speaker 12: Yep, we've got school going. One of the things that
- 18:13Speaker 12: we use as a proxy is did the governor cancel
- 18:16Speaker 12: state government? Since we're part of the executive branch and
- 18:19Speaker 12: they're open and.
- 18:19Speaker 3: So are we all right? Well, we hope it stays that.
- 18:22Speaker 3: What is actually going to get better, they say a
- 18:24Speaker 3: little bit later before we go through all this again
- 18:26Speaker 3: late tonight. But you're a Colorado person, this is nothing.
- 18:29Speaker 13: To you, right.
- 18:30Speaker 12: It is true. When I moved to West Virginia, it
- 18:32Speaker 12: was striking to me how little snow we could get
- 18:35Speaker 12: here and still close things.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well it's a different it's a different world,
- 18:39Speaker 3: you know that. You know that, all right? So I
- 18:41Speaker 3: want to give you some letters out there. Like an
- 18:44Speaker 3: acronym that will strike it will strike fear into the
- 18:48Speaker 3: hearts of parents and sometimes students, and that is FAFTSPA.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Explain exactly what FAFSA is. It's in the news. It
- 18:54Speaker 3: has been in the news over the last couple of
- 18:56Speaker 3: years because I know you have some workshops coming on
- 18:59Speaker 3: coming up at that, but talk about FASA for a moment.
- 19:02Speaker 9: We do.
- 19:02Speaker 3: So.
- 19:03Speaker 12: The FASTA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
- 19:06Speaker 12: It's a federal government form that allows students to get
- 19:10Speaker 12: access to things like the pel Grant. The pelgrant gives
- 19:13Speaker 12: students enough money that it would pay tuition for a
- 19:15Speaker 12: full year a bridge valley for full time students, and
- 19:18Speaker 12: so it's worth filling out the form. It's also how
- 19:21Speaker 12: we determine state aid. So even if your family makes
- 19:24Speaker 12: too much money to qualify for a federal pel grant,
- 19:27Speaker 12: the state of West Virginia has really generous financial aid,
- 19:30Speaker 12: especially at community colleges, and the state of West Virginia
- 19:34Speaker 12: would pay the difference between what the federal government doesn't
- 19:37Speaker 12: give you and what your balance on your tuition bill is.
- 19:40Speaker 12: But you still have to fill out that FASTPA for it.
- 19:42Speaker 12: So it's a form that's worth filling out, especially for
- 19:46Speaker 12: West Virginia families. But it is it's a tax form,
- 19:49Speaker 12: and I know for so many of us, tax forms
- 19:52Speaker 12: are pretty daunting.
- 19:53Speaker 14: So we do workshops.
- 19:54Speaker 12: We've got one the twenty fifth and one the twenty seventh.
- 19:56Speaker 12: We just don't want anybody to feel like it's too
- 19:59Speaker 12: overwhelming want to be able to help people.
- 20:01Speaker 3: And when you have these workshops and again we're talking
- 20:03Speaker 3: with doctor Casey Saxsonbridge Valley, what exactly I mean? You
- 20:05Speaker 3: just set them down literally like any other workshop, and
- 20:07Speaker 3: you just say this is how you fill this thing out.
- 20:10Speaker 3: These are the questions because you probably get a list
- 20:11Speaker 3: of FAQs, as we call them, frequently ask questions.
- 20:15Speaker 12: Right, that's right, we have we do not some of
- 20:18Speaker 12: the common mistakes that people make. There's a question right
- 20:21Speaker 12: now at the bottom of the form because it's online
- 20:23Speaker 12: that sometimes people don't see. It's really common that you
- 20:26Speaker 12: don't see it. So if we have you at a
- 20:29Speaker 12: computer in front of us, we can say, oh, did
- 20:31Speaker 12: you see question fourteen. We know that's one that sometimes
- 20:33Speaker 12: people skip because the form is kind of wonky.
- 20:37Speaker 3: That's an official that's an official college term, right wonky?
- 20:41Speaker 12: Well for sure.
- 20:42Speaker 3: From yeah, it can be it can be very it
- 20:44Speaker 3: could be very difficult. Again, we're talking with doctor Casey
- 20:47Speaker 3: Saxonbridge Valley. You spent a lot of time and we
- 20:49Speaker 3: spend a lot of time because you sponsored the show
- 20:51Speaker 3: talking about the WIN Academy. It's getting a lot of attention.
- 20:55Speaker 3: This WIN Academy. For those that don't know, explain what
- 20:57Speaker 3: it is, because the people in DC are looking at
- 20:59Speaker 3: the you Win Academy it is.
- 21:01Speaker 12: So we're so proud of our students. We have a
- 21:04Speaker 12: charter high school here in West Virginia that's called the
- 21:06Speaker 12: Win Academy. It's for students who are in eleventh and
- 21:09Speaker 12: twelfth grade who are ready to do college classes. So
- 21:12Speaker 12: it's completely voluntary. Your family can choose if you want
- 21:15Speaker 12: this or not. And the kids who decide to come
- 21:18Speaker 12: here want to go into nursing, want to go into
- 21:21Speaker 12: advanced manufacturing technology, or already sort of thinking about fast
- 21:24Speaker 12: tracking a career. And so what they do is they
- 21:27Speaker 12: come and do college classes and they graduate from high
- 21:32Speaker 12: school with a whole college transcript. So our goal really
- 21:34Speaker 12: is to get people ramped up to be able to
- 21:36Speaker 12: do associates degrees in high school. It's something that we've
- 21:40Speaker 12: seen in other states and so we're really just replicating
- 21:42Speaker 12: some best practices. But our students at everybody who graduated
- 21:46Speaker 12: last year went on to college, and so we're seeing
- 21:49Speaker 12: some incredible outcomes. And the National Governors Association this week
- 21:53Speaker 12: is meeting with our dean for the WIN Academy to
- 21:56Speaker 12: talk about what we're doing here in West Virginia and
- 21:58Speaker 12: how to replicate it in other states.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Isn't that cool when we get called to Washington and
- 22:04Speaker 3: they ask us what you guys are doing? Right, because
- 22:07Speaker 3: we don't often hear that sort of thing. It is
- 22:10Speaker 3: nice that people are looking to West Virginia and saying,
- 22:13Speaker 3: what are you folks doing because we want to replicate that,
- 22:15Speaker 3: as you said, in our states.
- 22:17Speaker 12: Yeah, it's really wonderful when you hear the governor of
- 22:19Speaker 12: Indiana is curious about how we do this thing in
- 22:22Speaker 12: West Virginia and how do they do it.
- 22:23Speaker 3: That's real. It's good stuff. Doctor Casey Sachs is here
- 22:26Speaker 3: a Bridge Valley. Older adults should protect themselves against severe
- 22:28Speaker 3: respiratory disease. Talk to your doctor about flu, COVID nineteen
- 22:32Speaker 3: and RSV vaccines, risk glass do more get started vaccines
- 22:35Speaker 3: not gov paid for by the US Department of Health
- 22:37Speaker 3: and Human Services. You're also, I understand, a good doctor
- 22:40Speaker 3: doing some hiring up there on the hill for instructors, right.
- 22:45Speaker 12: We are almost always looking for people who are in
- 22:47Speaker 12: the skilled trades, but in particular, if you are alignment
- 22:51Speaker 12: and you're sick of traveling. We would love to talk
- 22:53Speaker 12: to you. We really are looking for somebody to run
- 22:57Speaker 12: an automotive technology program. Several of our car dealers in
- 23:00Speaker 12: the area are really excited about this one and we
- 23:03Speaker 12: need we need the right person who wants to be
- 23:05Speaker 12: in charge of it. Welding, We're always looking for folks
- 23:08Speaker 12: in welding and in HVAC. So even if you only
- 23:11Speaker 12: want to teach one class, we would love to have you.
- 23:14Speaker 12: And you don't have to have a bachelor's degree. What
- 23:17Speaker 12: you need is the industry experience because that's what's really
- 23:19Speaker 12: most important to help train other people.
- 23:21Speaker 3: That's awesome, I mean it really really is. And you're
- 23:23Speaker 3: talking about the travel of linement. I actually met I
- 23:25Speaker 3: was doing a live broadcast at one of our sister
- 23:27Speaker 3: stations from a car dealership a couple of months ago,
- 23:30Speaker 3: and I met a lineman who is originally from this
- 23:32Speaker 3: area but was buying the process of buying the truck
- 23:37Speaker 3: because he was getting ready to make the drive to
- 23:39Speaker 3: New Mexico and he and he frequently he doesn't go
- 23:43Speaker 3: home every night, obviously, but but but he makes that trip.
- 23:46Speaker 9: He was a young guy.
- 23:47Speaker 3: He's making great money and he can handle it now
- 23:49Speaker 3: but there's going to come a time when those folks
- 23:51Speaker 3: are going to say I'm tired of firing up the
- 23:54Speaker 3: Silverado and driving to New Mexico.
- 23:57Speaker 12: That's right, And I mean when you have kids and
- 24:00Speaker 12: you've decided that you just want your life to be different,
- 24:02Speaker 12: We're an amazing place to work. You know, it's a
- 24:04Speaker 12: nine month contract, you have the summers off, you get
- 24:07Speaker 12: vacations that kids get from school. So it's I mean,
- 24:10Speaker 12: there are some real benefits where it is a really
- 24:13Speaker 12: nice place to work.
- 24:14Speaker 3: And before we let you go, and you know, one
- 24:15Speaker 3: of the many thing it's kind of talks that kind
- 24:18Speaker 3: of lends itself to what we were talking about earlier.
- 24:20Speaker 3: One of the many things that I like about Bridge
- 24:22Speaker 3: Valley is that you're willing to work with local employers
- 24:26Speaker 3: to give them the types of employees that they need.
- 24:29Speaker 3: And you've heard me talk about it for so long. Universities,
- 24:32Speaker 3: trade schools, whatever, we're just putting out people and saying hey,
- 24:35Speaker 3: go find a job. Well, somebody got the bright idea
- 24:37Speaker 3: and other institutions do it well as well. To meet
- 24:40Speaker 3: with these local employers and say, Okay, what is it
- 24:43Speaker 3: that you need and how can we how can we
- 24:47Speaker 3: help you out with your workforce. And I say that
- 24:49Speaker 3: because I know you're doing all sorts of customized stuff,
- 24:52Speaker 3: and especially in the medical field places like WVU Medicine,
- 24:55Speaker 3: Thomas Hospital, et cetera.
- 24:57Speaker 12: That's right. We love doing what we call customer industry training.
- 25:01Speaker 12: If you're a business owner and you need somebody who's
- 25:04Speaker 12: your current employeed upskill, we would love to talk to
- 25:07Speaker 12: you about what that upskilling needs to look like. It's
- 25:09Speaker 12: really fun for us to get to do that, and
- 25:11Speaker 12: I think you're exactly right. A current example is that
- 25:14Speaker 12: WVU Medicine Thomas Hospital has six staff members who they're
- 25:18Speaker 12: sending through a rad tech program with us in the
- 25:20Speaker 12: fall that we've developed around what they've said they needed
- 25:24Speaker 12: because they have good staff who they really want to
- 25:27Speaker 12: keep and they really want to promote, but they need
- 25:29Speaker 12: a new skill set.
- 25:30Speaker 3: All right, doctor Sachs. Always a lot of exciting stuff
- 25:33Speaker 3: going on out there at Bridge Valley. I appreciate you
- 25:36Speaker 3: being here and we'll talk again soon. Thanks a lot,
- 25:39Speaker 3: great to talk to you, Thanks Dave, Doctor Casey Sachs
- 25:42Speaker 3: of Bridge Valley. It is twenty seven minutes away from ten.
- 25:46Speaker 3: I love what they're doing out there. Like I said,
- 25:47Speaker 3: I mean, you know there for so many years when
- 25:50Speaker 3: I was in college, you know, seventy years ago, it
- 25:52Speaker 3: was like we we give you a diploma and we send.
- 25:54Speaker 11: You on your way.
- 25:55Speaker 3: And they're actually somebody in the institutions of hire and learning.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Not just Bridge Valley, there are others doing this as well.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Said you know, we need to we need to create
- 26:04Speaker 3: the kind of employees that employers want. And they sat
- 26:08Speaker 3: down and said, what is it that you need. I
- 26:11Speaker 3: think that's pretty good stuff, right, And as far as
- 26:13Speaker 3: the hiring of the instructors don't have to have a
- 26:15Speaker 3: bachelor's degree. I mean they just want your industry experience
- 26:18Speaker 3: to be able to teach these things like linemen and
- 26:21Speaker 3: the other things that they do up there. It's good stuff,
- 26:23Speaker 3: it really And I love the fact that other states
- 26:26Speaker 3: are looking to West Virginia and saying, how is it
- 26:28Speaker 3: that you are doing things there that's kind of stuff

- 31:05Speaker 7: I started an Airbnb a couple of years ago because
- 31:10Speaker 7: I guess was actually twenty thirteen. My husband of ten
- 31:13Speaker 7: years had a serious illness that landed us in the
- 31:19Speaker 7: OSU Medical Facility that's in Columbus, Ohio, and I was
- 31:24Speaker 7: there for over three weeks in a hotel room and
- 31:28Speaker 7: thanked the lord for the support I've had, But it
- 31:31Speaker 7: was very hard being in that one room. The refrigerator
- 31:34Speaker 7: was there in the microwave, but other than that, I
- 31:36Speaker 7: had to buy everything if I needed catch up or
- 31:38Speaker 7: I needed mustard or need to have for a hot dog,
- 31:41Speaker 7: and I bought out. I needed everything to be comfortable
- 31:44Speaker 7: while I had to stay there, couldn't leave, basically stadium
- 31:47Speaker 7: in the hotel the whole three weeks. So I had
- 31:50Speaker 7: not heard about the airbnb movement. I live a shelter
- 31:53Speaker 7: life here, so when I heard about it, I thought man.
- 31:56Speaker 7: In fact, I had an Airbnb when I was in Columbus.
- 31:59Speaker 7: How much easier it would have been the function for
- 32:02Speaker 7: those three weeks. So I got home and I started
- 32:05Speaker 7: thinking about it, praying about it, and I finally decided
- 32:08Speaker 7: the Lord wants me to do an Airbnb to service
- 32:10Speaker 7: people that are coming to Charleston. You know, we have
- 32:12Speaker 7: the biggest hospitals around and they're all within probably ten
- 32:16Speaker 7: miles of my place. So I thought, well, I've just
- 32:20Speaker 7: opened this and cater to the hospital visitors who have
- 32:24Speaker 7: to come down from Elkins or someplace far away to
- 32:27Speaker 7: have a loved one in the hospital for hospice reasons
- 32:30Speaker 7: or for a major surgery, and I would be able
- 32:33Speaker 7: to serve them and for a lot cheaper than they
- 32:36Speaker 7: would have for a hotel room. And we have all
- 32:38Speaker 7: the comforts of home. We even lease nikes, and water
- 32:42Speaker 7: and the coffee and the salt of the pepper and
- 32:43Speaker 7: the mustard and the ketchup and all that stuff is
- 32:46Speaker 7: usually there, depending on how much traffic I've had. But
- 32:49Speaker 7: it would have been such a blessing for me to
- 32:51Speaker 7: have had that. And I know how difficult it is
- 32:53Speaker 7: to have a loved one in the hospital that you
- 32:55Speaker 7: have to run back and forth for many many miles
- 32:58Speaker 7: and have to come back every day. The time, energy
- 33:00Speaker 7: and money involved, and so that's why I started a
- 33:03Speaker 7: Blessed Place to Rest in Eltfview, West Virgin m Yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 3: I want to talk about the name because I've got
- 33:08Speaker 3: I got your graphic off of your Facebook page when
- 33:11Speaker 3: I did my preview that I do for the show.
- 33:13Speaker 3: I put it up there, like the I like the
- 33:15Speaker 3: spelling that you use there too. Talk about how you
- 33:19Speaker 3: you came up with that name, and then talk about
- 33:21Speaker 3: the location again. You said, oh of you, But let's
- 33:23Speaker 3: get specific. I'll talk about the name first.
- 33:25Speaker 7: Okay, the name is everything I do. I want to
- 33:29Speaker 7: be able to bless people with it, and bless is
- 33:34Speaker 7: one of my favorite words. My other favorite word is grateful.
- 33:37Speaker 7: So with that in mind, thinking about what would I
- 33:39Speaker 7: call it, what's the purpose of it? And I wanted
- 33:42Speaker 7: to have a place that could rest from a weary
- 33:44Speaker 7: trip or a weary drama situation, trauma situation, and I
- 33:49Speaker 7: don't know, I guess kind of. The Lord just gave
- 33:51Speaker 7: it to me, and then I didn't think about the
- 33:53Speaker 7: B L S T part until I was at the
- 33:55Speaker 7: small business getting my license, and so he said, how
- 33:59Speaker 7: do you spell me? Is b L E s T
- 34:01Speaker 7: or b L E S s D. And I said
- 34:04Speaker 7: that's an I didn't. Let's just make it b L
- 34:06Speaker 7: E s T. So that's both good and bad. Some
- 34:08Speaker 7: people look online for b L E S s D
- 34:11Speaker 7: and it ain't there. It's a bless So that's how
- 34:14Speaker 7: I came up with a name. And then it's located.
- 34:18Speaker 7: If you're familiar with one nineteen, it's right off one
- 34:21Speaker 7: nineteen on the left side of the road. You dart
- 34:25Speaker 7: off the road and there it is, so you don't
- 34:27Speaker 7: have to go up any haulers or hills or anything.
- 34:29Speaker 3: It's especially important with the winner that we've had. We're
- 34:32Speaker 3: we're talking to Karen Atkins the Dave Allen showing five
- 34:35Speaker 3: Any Life brought to you in part by Husbands Pizza
- 34:36Speaker 3: heart Shaped Pizza time all month long. Get a fourteen
- 34:39Speaker 3: inch one topping heart shaped pizza anytime this month, fourteen bucks,
- 34:42Speaker 3: dined in carry out or delivery. Find You're nearest Husbands
- 34:45Speaker 3: and Husband's Pizza dot Com. And I want people to
- 34:47Speaker 3: realize I didn't invite you on just to push your
- 34:49Speaker 3: Airbnb per se. You can buy radio time for that.
- 34:52Speaker 3: But I wanted to talk about the whole concept of
- 34:54Speaker 3: this and what a great thing that it is, and
- 34:58Speaker 3: how you could share this with other people, because obviously, Karen,
- 35:01Speaker 3: you you got this idea, as you said, based on
- 35:04Speaker 3: your own experience and what you went through.
- 35:08Speaker 7: Right, right, And I've had other experiences my mom this
- 35:12Speaker 7: My mom was in the hospital probably twelve fifteen years ago,
- 35:14Speaker 7: and things have changed, you know, with I think camc
- 35:17Speaker 7: does have a place now that people can stay. But
- 35:19Speaker 7: back in the day, my brother and sister in law
- 35:21Speaker 7: had to travel to Charleston and she's allergic to cats
- 35:25Speaker 7: and I had cats, so they had to get a motel.
- 35:27Speaker 7: So we called the Ronald McDonald house and they said,
- 35:30Speaker 7: is it a child in the hospital, And I said, no,
- 35:32Speaker 7: it's my mother, And they said no, we can only
- 35:34Speaker 7: put up parents of children in the Ronald McDonald house.
- 35:38Speaker 7: So you know, of course we bit the bullet and
- 35:40Speaker 7: paid the hotel room or whatever we had to do
- 35:41Speaker 7: back then, I do not remember, but so now you know,
- 35:45Speaker 7: having been through that was moms having to run even
- 35:48Speaker 7: thirty miles every day to get there with her. It
- 35:51Speaker 7: was just a lot of time in her gym money
- 35:54Speaker 7: and so to be able to be almost on site
- 35:57Speaker 7: that something goes on. When I was in Oe Shoe,
- 36:00Speaker 7: that call me all hours of the night and day
- 36:02Speaker 7: saying can we do this to Steve? Can we do
- 36:04Speaker 7: that to Steve? And I had to go in a
- 36:06Speaker 7: few times and sign papers for them to do it.
- 36:08Speaker 7: He's in heaven by the way, but anyway, so it
- 36:11Speaker 7: was just so much money and it wasn't in my budget.
- 36:15Speaker 7: I didn't anticipate him getting a serious illness and being
- 36:18Speaker 7: an no issue for those three weeks. So that's my
- 36:20Speaker 7: concerns and help people. You know, back in the day,
- 36:23Speaker 7: I did not have as much money as I do now.
- 36:25Speaker 7: Thank god I have a little better income. I'm retired
- 36:27Speaker 7: and I get my disability. But back in that day,
- 36:31Speaker 7: money was tight. And you know, so when you go
- 36:33Speaker 7: out and eat, every time you eat five or ten dollars,
- 36:35Speaker 7: back in that day, it's expensive. Plus the just being
- 36:39Speaker 7: so far away and having to find a way there
- 36:41Speaker 7: and stuff, it was quite traumatic.
- 36:43Speaker 3: We got a text here to the show somebody listening
- 36:45Speaker 3: to the interview kreen It says that they have owned
- 36:47Speaker 3: an airbnb for about five years now, fully furnished two bedroom.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Point is the texture says talking about you that she
- 36:53Speaker 3: mentioned the hospitals. Literally, ninety five percent of my tenants
- 36:57Speaker 3: are traveling nurses and it's hardly ever empty. Do you
- 37:00Speaker 3: offer this? I know you want to focus because this
- 37:03Speaker 3: of your experience with your late husband, but would you
- 37:05Speaker 3: would you be willing to offer this also for folks
- 37:07Speaker 3: that are our nurses or things of that nature, anything
- 37:10Speaker 3: with the medical field.
- 37:13Speaker 7: Potentially, you know, I want to. I want to make sure.
- 37:17Speaker 7: And the only problem with that is, you know, my
- 37:19Speaker 7: first desire is to minister, is to service. My second
- 37:22Speaker 7: desire is to get some money for the place, because
- 37:24Speaker 7: it's not good for it to set in to gotcha.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Gotcha.
- 37:27Speaker 7: So I've been asked about that before. I've never done
- 37:31Speaker 7: much advertisement because I'm legally blind for one thing, and
- 37:34Speaker 7: I don't do a lot of stuff anymore on my computer.
- 37:37Speaker 7: But yes, I would entertain that, probably at least until
- 37:40Speaker 7: I get going with some people. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Mean, and that's wonderful. I think that that you're doing this,
- 37:46Speaker 3: and you know, and I spend in Karen, and I
- 37:48Speaker 3: know you listened to the show, but I spend this
- 37:50Speaker 3: a lot of time. And I'll get back to politics
- 37:52Speaker 3: here for a moment. For people that are blowing me
- 37:54Speaker 3: up over politics. But every now and then you got
- 37:56Speaker 3: to have a good story, you know what I mean.
- 37:58Speaker 3: And when you told me about this, I thought that
- 38:00Speaker 3: this was a wonderful, wonderful story. And you asked me
- 38:03Speaker 3: if you could come on. I said absolutely, We'll make.
- 38:05Speaker 13: Time for you.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Where can people again, give out the website, the what
- 38:11Speaker 3: you got Facebook, whatever, the direction, give us all of
- 38:13Speaker 3: the pertinent information.
- 38:16Speaker 7: Okay. I am on the Airbnb dot com site, so
- 38:20Speaker 7: you can search by Google or search at the Airbnb
- 38:24Speaker 7: dot com site. And my place is called a Blessed
- 38:29Speaker 7: b l e s T Place to our e s
- 38:33Speaker 7: T rest, a blessed place to rest. The fiscal address
- 38:38Speaker 7: is thirty one Westwood Drive in Elview, right, It's Virginia
- 38:45Speaker 7: two seven one. Now you think Elview's up there where
- 38:48Speaker 7: the pizza places are and the groceries and all that,
- 38:51Speaker 7: and it's not. This is just like between it's like
- 38:54Speaker 7: five miles from Big Chimney where I live.
- 38:56Speaker 3: It'd be. It's yeah, and very very convenient for those
- 39:00Speaker 3: that you're aiming at, Karen, which is those that are
- 39:02Speaker 3: staying in our local hospitals. Karen, it's been a pleasure
- 39:05Speaker 3: to have you on the show. We wish you the
- 39:07Speaker 3: best with everything. We'll talk again soon. Thanks a lot,
- 39:10Speaker 3: Thank you, all right, Karen Adkins. Again, I just thought
- 39:12Speaker 3: it was a good story. I mean, every now and
- 39:14Speaker 3: then you got to have a good story, and this
- 39:18Speaker 3: time of upheaval that we have these days. And she
- 39:21Speaker 3: reached out to me and she listened to the show
- 39:23Speaker 3: and she said, I'd love to come on to talk
- 39:25Speaker 3: about it. And I said, I think it's great because
- 39:27Speaker 3: we have all known folks that have gone through that
- 39:30Speaker 3: they have a loved one that's staying in a hospital facility,
- 39:32Speaker 3: and you know, and it could be in the end,
- 39:35Speaker 3: like she said, people coming in from out of town.
- 39:37Speaker 3: They're coming in from out of state with elderly parents,
- 39:39Speaker 3: you know. And it's just just a great thing that
- 39:42Speaker 3: she didn't If she can make a little money on it,
- 39:44Speaker 3: so be it. But I get the idea in talking
- 39:47Speaker 3: to Karen that it's not all about the money. That's
- 39:50Speaker 3: kind of the idea I got. The Dave Island Showing

- 44:01Speaker 3: on the program this morning. She's such a jewel and
- 44:04Speaker 3: a blessing and one tough lady, says a texture quickly
- 44:08Speaker 3: to the weather. I said yesterday, I didn't want to
- 44:10Speaker 3: talk to Brian Hughes again until we got a time,
- 44:12Speaker 3: and I'm going to hold it that. I will say
- 44:14Speaker 3: that when I left my house in Tays Valley a
- 44:18Speaker 3: little earlier this morning to what I normally do, wanted
- 44:20Speaker 3: to kind of get a jump on, and I got
- 44:22Speaker 3: sixty four coming into Charleston from Tays, I thought, yeah,
- 44:25Speaker 3: maybe I should have waited until daylight. It's not that
- 44:28Speaker 3: there's a lot of snow, as I said earlier out there,
- 44:30Speaker 3: but it's the very light variety, and with temperatures as
- 44:33Speaker 3: low as they are, then I'm going to get a
- 44:34Speaker 3: whole lot warmer. Plowing and salting really can only do
- 44:39Speaker 3: so much now. Schools, of course, and Canel Putnam ended
- 44:43Speaker 3: up canceling today. Probably. I don't want to predict anything
- 44:46Speaker 3: because I don't know what will happen, but I guarantee
- 44:48Speaker 3: you there'll be something different with school schedules tomorrow. It
- 44:52Speaker 3: looks like we are going to get a break into
- 44:53Speaker 3: snow this afternoon before another round comes in tonight. Not
- 44:57Speaker 3: a lot of accumulation, but it doesn't take a lot,
- 45:00Speaker 3: and the snow we have isn't going to be going anywhere.
- 45:04Speaker 3: We may finally, though, finally warm up for a substantial
- 45:08Speaker 3: amount of time. But whether folks say, don't get used
- 45:11Speaker 3: to it, as we can have and have had many
- 45:14Speaker 3: major snows in the past in March and even April,
- 45:17Speaker 3: so buckle up. I do think we do the time
- 45:20Speaker 3: change thing here in a couple of weeks though, So
- 45:22Speaker 3: that is good news. Texas. Enjoying your program today, Well,
- 45:25Speaker 3: thank you very much. I appreciate it. Yeah, I gots Texas.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Dave On SBA fifty one, Senator Jay Taylor and conservative
- 45:35Speaker 3: politicians need to go to every school in the state
- 45:37Speaker 3: and tell those girls that if they are raped, then
- 45:39Speaker 3: they are forced to bring that child to birth. Let
- 45:42Speaker 3: those girls see who will be forcing them to birth
- 45:44Speaker 3: non consensually conceived children. Also, conservative mothers and fathers need
- 45:49Speaker 3: to look at their daughters and tell them the same thing.
- 45:50Speaker 3: God weeps at this ignorance that is in reference to
- 45:55Speaker 3: and I appreciate the text for pointing that out SB
- 45:58Speaker 3: fifty one that I first first learned about yesterday, and
- 46:03Speaker 3: then maybe when we talked to Wilson and Meadows, we'll
- 46:05Speaker 3: get a little update on that. It was presented, as
- 46:07Speaker 3: I understand by Senator j. Taylor, and if I'm wrong,
- 46:10Speaker 3: I don't have all the particulars in front of me
- 46:12Speaker 3: right now, but basically they wanted to remove the incest
- 46:15Speaker 3: and rape.
- 46:18Speaker 11: Amendments.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Not the right word that part of the abortion bill
- 46:22Speaker 3: uh in in West Virginia. I just don't. I got nothing, tex,
- 46:28Speaker 3: says Dave. If you heard the Ten Commandments bill going
- 46:31Speaker 3: around the legislature. I fully supported the Ten Commandments in
- 46:34Speaker 3: school because that opens the door to the Seven Tenants
- 46:37Speaker 3: of the Satanic Temple to be put alongside it. The
- 46:40Speaker 3: Seven Tenants are real guidelines that children need as a texture.
- 46:44Speaker 3: I got TJ standing by, We're gonna go to him
- 46:46Speaker 3: just a couple of well, actually, let's go ahead and
- 46:48Speaker 3: go to it now. All right, this is this the
- 46:51Speaker 3: TJ Meadows live at the Capitol.
- 46:53Speaker 13: I don't know if i'd say D, but it's D.
- 46:55Speaker 13: Dave Wilson's over here beside me too. Well, let him
- 46:57Speaker 13: put V in front of his that's the only TJ
- 47:00Speaker 13: I know.
- 47:00Speaker 3: How's that? Okay, Well, that's fine, And Dave Wilson, I think,
- 47:03Speaker 3: is there as well. So let's start about talking about
- 47:07Speaker 3: this now. We'll talk about this SB fifty one. Texter
- 47:10Speaker 3: brought it up Senator J Taylor about this removing the
- 47:13Speaker 3: part if I understand it's correctly, removing the part about
- 47:16Speaker 3: rapid incests from the already restrictive abortion law in West Virginia.
- 47:20Speaker 3: What say you?
- 47:22Speaker 6: Well, what did you want to go ahead and tell
- 47:23Speaker 6: him Bill? There's oh, yeah, that bill may be getting pulled. Okay, Okay,
- 47:29Speaker 6: we just haven't confirmed that, but we were told this
- 47:32Speaker 6: morning that bill may be getting pulled.
- 47:33Speaker 13: Yeah, so I can read. There's a an X post
- 47:38Speaker 13: that is from our good friend Amelia Nicely, and she
- 47:41Speaker 13: has a written release that appears to be from the senator.
- 47:44Speaker 13: He announces the withdrawal of Senate Bill fifty one, which
- 47:48Speaker 13: I originally introduced with the intention of protecting the lives
- 47:50Speaker 13: of them board children. I've always believed that life begins
- 47:53Speaker 13: at conception, and this belief guided my decision to support
- 47:56Speaker 13: this bill for several years. However, I recognize now that
- 48:00Speaker 13: we're introducing the bill this year was a mistake, particularly
- 48:04Speaker 13: given its unrealistic path forward. I've put out on my
- 48:07Speaker 13: ex as well that goes on a bit and folks
- 48:09Speaker 13: can read it for themselves, but it would appear nothing
- 48:12Speaker 13: official in the system yet, but it would appear he
- 48:14Speaker 13: plans to withdraw that bill.
- 48:16Speaker 3: All right, you heard it here first. You heard it
- 48:19Speaker 3: here first? And what else will we hear first? On
- 48:22Speaker 3: the Big Show from the Capitol today, guys.
- 48:25Speaker 17: Well coming up a ten oh six, lore Wakem Chapman
- 48:27Speaker 17: will join us. She is the Ohio County Senator and
- 48:30Speaker 17: chair of the Senate Health Committee. We'll talk about the
- 48:33Speaker 17: vaccine exemption bill, which was scheduled for a third reading today.
- 48:37Speaker 17: We're also hearing that is going to get bumped till
- 48:39Speaker 17: tomorrow for a third reading and passage. But we'll talk
- 48:43Speaker 17: about the bill. She is obviously in favor of it.
- 48:46Speaker 17: A little bit later on Rupy Phillips stops by from
- 48:50Speaker 17: you your area, Dave, that's my boy, and Yeah, that's
- 48:53Speaker 17: your guy. We'll talk to him about the bill.
- 48:56Speaker 9: TJ.
- 48:56Speaker 17: You can explain this a little bit better than I can,
- 48:58Speaker 17: but it would change. It would pull tax breaks for windmills.
- 49:02Speaker 13: Correct, So we currently assess those at salvage value, meaning
- 49:05Speaker 13: whatever they would be worth when they're fully depreciated. That's
- 49:08Speaker 13: the tax basis. What this would do is pull that
- 49:11Speaker 13: provision and tax these at full value, so essentially taking
- 49:14Speaker 13: a taxi set of a way. And the argument is
- 49:16Speaker 13: that that would increase the cost of energy that is
- 49:19Speaker 13: produced from those assets.
- 49:20Speaker 17: So right, talk to him about that bill. Jeff Jenkins
- 49:23Speaker 17: will have the latest on the flooding and now they're
- 49:26Speaker 17: having to deal with snow on top of that. Down
- 49:28Speaker 17: in mcdowll Mingo County is Brad Macklehenning stops by with
- 49:31Speaker 17: his report, and Eli Bombwell with the ACLU of West
- 49:35Speaker 17: Virginia will stop by the desk as well.
- 49:37Speaker 3: What's on the acl used mind all the above.
- 49:41Speaker 17: Usually it is a c l U day at the
- 49:44Speaker 17: capitol and they're going to be here, so we'll find
- 49:46Speaker 17: out what the ACLU is thinking about.
- 49:49Speaker 13: So, mister Allen, I'll circle back to this. I'm reading
- 49:51Speaker 13: through this as we get at its live radio. Second
- 49:54Speaker 13: paragraph I think is important on this with this release
- 49:57Speaker 13: from Jay Taylor, he said, I sincerely oologize to my
- 50:00Speaker 13: friends and supporters whom I may have offended with this action.
- 50:03Speaker 13: It was never my intent to cause distress, and I
- 50:06Speaker 13: regret any unintended harm my actions may have caused. Recently,
- 50:11Speaker 13: I have been the recipient of numerous communications, some of
- 50:14Speaker 13: which have involved threats directed towards my family. This situation
- 50:18Speaker 13: has deeply disturbed me, and I hope that withdrawing the bill,
- 50:22Speaker 13: alongside with my genuine apology will help reduce tensions.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Well, I mean, like I I disagree wholeheartedly with what's
- 50:31Speaker 3: what the senator was bringing up, but you cross another
- 50:34Speaker 3: line when you start threatening people's families and things of
- 50:37Speaker 3: that nature. And I know I've heard people say, well,
- 50:39Speaker 3: that's what you sign up for. No, hell no, that's
- 50:41Speaker 3: not what you sign up for. And so, I, while
- 50:43Speaker 3: I disagree wholeheartedly with what he was putting out there, yeah,
- 50:48Speaker 3: that's that takes another level. So that's not cool if
- 50:51Speaker 3: that happened, and I have no reason to believe it didn't.
- 50:54Speaker 3: All right, guys, I appreciate it. We'll be listening coming
- 50:56Speaker 3: up with ten oh six. How's that all right?
- 50:58Speaker 4: I thought we'd take it easy when it is well.
- 51:00Speaker 3: I was gonna say, yeah, go back and listen to
- 51:01Speaker 3: yesterday's show, and I had one of the sales weasels
- 51:03Speaker 3: committed buildings. So I thought you and Wilson were gonna
- 51:05Speaker 3: fight there. I said, no, no, no, we're actually actually
- 51:09Speaker 3: good for us. Us Marshall, people have to stick together
- 51:12Speaker 3: in this company. With Matt Murphy across the hall, we
- 51:14Speaker 3: gotta and uh we we gotta stick together.
- 51:17Speaker 4: Guys.
- 51:17Speaker 17: We've got we got Morgan over in the newsroom. Now, okay,
- 51:20Speaker 17: we're making some problem making some progress.
- 51:22Speaker 3: All right. We're about five percent right now.
- 51:24Speaker 13: So this is an interesting case study, all right. He
- 51:26Speaker 13: all the time refers to these people as sales weasels,
- 51:29Speaker 13: and it just endures them more.
- 51:31Speaker 14: To mill understand.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well it's I picked that up a long
- 51:36Speaker 3: time ago, you know, in radio. I don't know from who,
- 51:38Speaker 3: but yep, guys, will check in with ten o six.
- 51:40Speaker 3: Thanks a lot, all right, all right, my thanks to
- 51:42Speaker 3: all the guests on the show today, Matt guitar Murphy
- 51:44Speaker 3: for producing the show as well. Again, I will not
- 51:47Speaker 3: be here tomorrow. I have some stuff I gotta take
- 51:49Speaker 3: care of. Amanda Baron from w o w K TV
- 51:53Speaker 3: thirteen will be in the host chair along with Dale
- 51:55Speaker 3: Cooper tomorrow. I do know that she will have with
- 51:58Speaker 3: her kanawk Aunty Commissioner Land Wheeler and some other guests
- 52:02Speaker 3: on the show coming up tomorrow. I'll be back on Friday.
- 52:06Speaker 3: If you haven't already done so, download the WVRC Media
- 52:09Speaker 3: app and the Metro News Television app as well. For
- 52:12Speaker 3: my producer Mat Guitar Murphy, thank you so much taking
- 52:14Speaker 3: easy on the roads. I'll see you Friday, so all
- 52:17Speaker 3: then have fun. I love somebody
