- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the porch today because we are
- 0:33in a very, very, very heavy rainstorm.
- 0:36I had to let the girls out and it was too rainy to record over
- 0:40there. So windy because it was coming
- 0:42in the door. So it was just messy.
- 0:44So this morning we're doing it from the porch.
- 0:47Oh, see, you can still hear him. He's in the lawn right now.
- 0:51Apparently they don't mind the rain.
- 0:54I don't mind it either because it's taking care of all the
- 0:56stuff that's growing. However, I don't want to be
- 0:59soaking wet. But just to my point today we're
- 1:03talking about being adaptable. And this is one thing that I
- 1:06absolutely love about my chickens is that they are
- 1:10really, really adaptable to whatever happens.
- 1:13If it's pouring, they figure out what they're doing.
- 1:15They are out anyway. You'll see them in the lawn if
- 1:19it's not raining too hard. They are all over our farm free
- 1:22ranging. If it's pouring, they run.
- 1:25They find other places to be. They go under their coop because
- 1:29it's elevated so they can hide. They will sit under a tree.
- 1:32They will come on the porch, which I think is really funny.
- 1:35They'll all sit on the porch and like wait.
- 1:37And again, the being adaptable factor is huge and I admire them
- 1:44for that. They are quickly adaptable.
- 1:46As soon as I put them into the new coupe, they didn't complain
- 1:50that, you know, it wasn't the old coupe or they were missing
- 1:53things or anything else. They figured out where their
- 1:55spot was and they were good. Whatever happens with them, they
- 2:00seem to be adaptable. Even the tragedies when we lose
- 2:03chickens. And it happens because, you
- 2:05know, just last week I found one of my chickens and she was just
- 2:09there on the ground dead and no visible signs of anything that
- 2:13happened. And we, we suspect something
- 2:17must have spooked her and she got hit and she just probably
- 2:22broke her neck or something because her neck didn't look
- 2:25right. But no wounds.
- 2:26So no Hawks and there was no warning in the area from
- 2:29anything else. But in any event, they they saw
- 2:32her there and they didn't dwell on it.
- 2:36And the lesson in this that I want to talk to you about today
- 2:41is just that this this ability to be so quickly adaptable makes
- 2:46it so that they can survive. They are prey items.
- 2:49Let's be very clear about it. Everything wants to eat a
- 2:51chicken, possum, raccoons, foxes, coyotes, dogs, Hawks,
- 2:57owls, I could Eagles, we could go on and on about the list of
- 3:01things here where we live that are predators for them.
- 3:06But they don't spend their life worried about that.
- 3:10They just don't. They just move on.
- 3:12If they get scared, they're scared for a short period of
- 3:14time and then they're like, OK, let's move on.
- 3:17And they do. And I think that that's such a
- 3:20fantastic trait. It's kind of like dogs.
- 3:23They move on it it it is so quickly apparent to me how much
- 3:30while we want to believe because we're the higher thinking
- 3:33species that we are so have this such a great ability to adapt.
- 3:38Often times we are not really adapting.
- 3:41What we're doing is living in fear and we've cut away a part
- 3:45of ourselves because we're in such a state of fear as to as
- 3:48opposed to being truly adaptable where you look and you go, OK,
- 3:52you know what this is how it's going to I'm going to change.
- 3:54This is what's going to happen and you let the rest of it go.
- 3:58So the adaptability is taking what you can learn from the
- 4:01situation and then moving on, not dwelling in it, not having
- 4:07a, an overwhelming sense of how am I going to stay safe?
- 4:12How am I going to, you know, avoid this from ever happening
- 4:16again. Because when you live in
- 4:18avoidance, you actually avoid good stuff too.
- 4:21And this level of adaptability that we need to create for
- 4:25ourselves has to be built out of a constant state of awareness
- 4:30for what emotions we're using day-to-day.
- 4:34Being adaptable, looking at something and and being able to
- 4:38shift when you know you need to and letting go of what those old
- 4:44emotions were that are holding you back is so critically
- 4:47important to real growth. And I when I say real growth, I
- 4:52mean not just growing and getting little tiny pieces from
- 4:57it, which is still fine, but real growth is when you let go
- 5:00of the emotion of it. When you can tell your story and
- 5:04you're not in tears, you can say this is what happened, but that
- 5:09was a different version of myself.
- 5:11That is hard work, my friends. But it's so worth it.
- 5:14Believe me. I know I've had to do it
- 5:15multiple times. And now I can talk about things.
- 5:18Now I can tell the stories and I don't fall to pieces because
- 5:22there's no emotional connectivity to it.
- 5:24I just know it brought me to who I am today.
- 5:27So work on your adaptability, work on letting go of those
- 5:31emotions, work on being able to shift and just taking what you
- 5:35can be adaptable. All right, my friends, I will
- 5:39see you tomorrow, hopefully right from the chicken coop, and
- 5:43I hope you have a blessed day. Bye.
