- 0:03Speaker 1: It's the Foul Territory postgame show presented by the Box
- 0:08Speaker 1: one app. Go sign up. What just happened? That is
- 0:16Speaker 1: the face of Orian Kirkering, Eric Kratz and Phillies fans
- 0:21Speaker 1: across the globe. Eric, you're catching Orian Kirkering. That happens.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You jog out to him and you say, you gotta
- 0:33Speaker 1: say something, and you gotta be quick. The dude's gonna
- 0:37Speaker 1: melt onto the ground.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I mean, we're walking off together, and I'm gonna put
- 0:41Speaker 2: my arm around him and be like, you know what,
- 0:45Speaker 2: You're still a great person, Like you don't even know
- 0:50Speaker 2: like terrible. I am physically like I had like a
- 0:55Speaker 2: sick feeling in my chest, like did he not know
- 1:01Speaker 2: how many outs there were? Did he not? I don't, Scott.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I am speechless right now.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's a way to end a ballgame. And on the
- 1:13Speaker 1: Dodgers side, they're ecstatic they don't have to go back
- 1:15Speaker 1: to Philadelphia. This was a brilliantly pitched game. Contact was
- 1:20Speaker 1: made by Andy pajis Ke, Kay Hernandez walked, Max Munsey
- 1:26Speaker 1: looped a single up the middle. There was action right
- 1:30Speaker 1: Tommy Edmund with a knock. Kim replaced him as a
- 1:33Speaker 1: pinch runner, plenty of action here in the home eleventh.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Ryan Kirkring.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Joked, it happened, It happened, It happened, and it happened
- 1:48Speaker 2: because the Dodgers just kept having deep at bats. They
- 1:51Speaker 2: just didn't I'm not gonna say they didn't give in
- 1:54Speaker 2: like Lozada was so nasty like to give up a
- 1:58Speaker 2: hit to Max Munsey in that's situation. Max was hitting
- 2:01Speaker 2: like one fifty something or one sixty something against lefties
- 2:05Speaker 2: this year, like a down year against lefties for Max
- 2:08Speaker 2: with not a lot of power, gets a ball through there,
- 2:12Speaker 2: bringing O'Ryan kirkering in to me, is the play and
- 2:17Speaker 2: keyk put together an unbelievable at bat, took ball four
- 2:22Speaker 2: something that you know what, maybe earlier in the game,
- 2:25Speaker 2: maybe the shadows would have gotten in a way, but
- 2:28Speaker 2: it's all set up. It's okay, Like it's totally fine.
- 2:31Speaker 2: The base is open even when Max, before Max stole
- 2:35Speaker 2: second or defensive indifference had you had the base open
- 2:40Speaker 2: so you didn't have to give into Kik Pajes's struggle
- 2:44Speaker 2: bus this series, and you get the ball back to
- 2:47Speaker 2: you and he threw it home. He threw it home,
- 2:51Speaker 2: and now they're going home.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it. And of course you're going to look
- 2:56Speaker 1: at this one play. It doesn't mean that the Dodgers
- 2:58Speaker 1: wouldn't have walked off the Philly anyway. I mean, this
- 3:01Speaker 1: was fantastic pitching. Tyler Glass now had it going. Roki
- 3:05Speaker 1: Sazaki is him in the postseason. He is the postseason
- 3:10Speaker 1: X factor right now for the Dodgers, the guy that
- 3:12Speaker 1: comes out of the blue and makes massive, massive impact.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Two saves earlier in the series and then three up,
- 3:19Speaker 1: three down, three up, three down, three up, three down.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Incredible work from him. Three scoreless innings, and all they
- 3:26Speaker 1: needed to do was stay afloat give the offense a
- 3:29Speaker 1: chance to do a number of things that the Dodgers
- 3:33Speaker 1: offense can do. They can make contact, they can take walks,
- 3:37Speaker 1: they can slug and smash the ball out of the ballpark.
- 3:40Speaker 1: All of these things are possible, and in this situation,
- 3:43Speaker 1: contact was made, they were able to get on base.
- 3:47Speaker 1: They forced well, I don't know if you want to
- 3:48Speaker 1: say forced a mistake, but this mistake was made. That
- 3:51Speaker 1: doesn't happen necessarily with a strikeout, right, And we see
- 3:54Speaker 1: plenty of that in today's game, and the Dodgers have
- 3:57Speaker 1: battle tested guys. That's what you're describing. Key ky Hernandez
- 4:02Speaker 1: in the regular season is not the same as postseason kyk.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Like you said, with Munty, lefties weren't his thing. This year,
- 4:10Speaker 1: they're platooning him. He's starting against right handed pitching. But
- 4:14Speaker 1: he's been in these spots so often, so many of
- 4:17Speaker 1: their guys have, And to me, Kratz, it's not just
- 4:20Speaker 1: the experience they have in these spots. I think the
- 4:23Speaker 1: Dodgers have the ability and I think they're smart enough
- 4:28Speaker 1: to figure out which guys should be in these key moments,
- 4:31Speaker 1: both from a roster construction perspective and from a managing perspective.
- 4:35Speaker 1: With Dave Roberts, do you agree with that where it's like, Hey,
- 4:38Speaker 1: this guy shines in the big moment and so I'm
- 4:41Speaker 1: gonna have him on my roster. I mean, they loved
- 4:43Speaker 1: Tommy Edmond for years and he's been a huge part
- 4:45Speaker 1: of what they're doing the last couple of years. And
- 4:47Speaker 1: then Doc Roberts pushes the right button. So I'm giving
- 4:50Speaker 1: a ton of credit to La here. The pitching plus
- 4:53Speaker 1: just enough to pull off a dub.
- 4:55Speaker 2: When you're talking about games like this, like games that
- 4:58Speaker 2: come down to a fluke play or something, be like, oh,
- 5:01Speaker 2: they're so lucky. People who aren't around a game are like,
- 5:04Speaker 2: oh they're so lucky, like it was just a brain
- 5:07Speaker 2: fart by a young kid. But they're in this situation.
- 5:11Speaker 2: They are constantly in these situations because of the things
- 5:15Speaker 2: that you mentioned, because of at the core of it,
- 5:19Speaker 2: because of communication. I know Max Munsey did not come
- 5:25Speaker 2: to the ballpark in Game one and go what I'm
- 5:29Speaker 2: not playing? He came on our show and he said,
- 5:32Speaker 2: whatever it takes. I don't care if I don't get
- 5:35Speaker 2: a single hit in the entire postseason. If we win,
- 5:39Speaker 2: that's all that matters. And I think these guys believe
- 5:42Speaker 2: it did that will or want to win create the
- 5:46Speaker 2: air from Oryan Kirkering. No, is that something that is
- 5:52Speaker 2: It's completely outside of what happens. It's a result. Baseball
- 5:57Speaker 2: is all about the preparation, the execute, and the result
- 6:01Speaker 2: just happens. I mean, bom, I think, hit a rocket
- 6:05Speaker 2: line drive with Harper on first to center field, maybe
- 6:10Speaker 2: somebody slips, maybe the ball gets down. Great preparation, great execution,
- 6:16Speaker 2: hit the ball hard. Result wasn't out everything a Ryan
- 6:20Speaker 2: Kirkering did right there, You didn't let Kik beat you.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Pajes is the guy that you want to go after,
- 6:28Speaker 2: and it didn't happen. The result wasn't great. It is.
- 6:32Speaker 2: It's tough, but it's also the fact that the Dodgers
- 6:36Speaker 2: are built. I don't want to say built for the postseason,
- 6:39Speaker 2: because they're good in the regular season, but they are
- 6:42Speaker 2: built to make a run and win the World Series.
- 6:45Speaker 2: In every series from last year till now. That they
- 6:50Speaker 2: keep winning, they gain more experience, more confidence that they're
- 6:55Speaker 2: never out of it. And it's going to take. It's
- 6:57Speaker 2: going to take a massive, mass, massive series by either
- 7:02Speaker 2: the Cubs or the Brewers, whoever they end up facing
- 7:05Speaker 2: to dethrone the Dodgers right now.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Mm hmm, yeah. The Dodgers have resources. They spend a
- 7:11Speaker 1: lot of money. You're gonna hear the complainers there. The
- 7:13Speaker 1: Mets spent a lot of money, they didn't make the playoffs.
- 7:15Speaker 1: The Yankees spent a lot of money. They're bounced. I
- 7:19Speaker 1: want to focus on what happened here in this game
- 7:21Speaker 1: too earlier. So the Phillies, from what I recall, had
- 7:26Speaker 1: one defensive misque back in the I believe it was
- 7:29Speaker 1: the third or maybe a little bit deeper than that
- 7:32Speaker 1: when Boem let the ball get through. Yeah on no,
- 7:35Speaker 1: tany right back back in the bottom of the third
- 7:37Speaker 1: didn't end up hurting him. They're at least five defensive
- 7:41Speaker 1: plays by Philadelphia that you circle in this one and go, wow,
- 7:45Speaker 1: that's a plus defense. I feel like they're here, they
- 7:48Speaker 1: know what's at stake. Kepler diving catch, Trey Turner diving catch.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Just I mean a number of plays. I think probably
- 7:54Speaker 1: three plays that stand out with Trey who made some
- 7:57Speaker 1: fantastic plays. Yeah, there was the play turned by Boom
- 8:03Speaker 1: over to stot To to Harper right yep, and Harper
- 8:10Speaker 1: made a nice scoop. Bom made a great play extending.
- 8:13Speaker 1: He does some things that not many third basemen can
- 8:15Speaker 1: do because he's so long, and we've seen that in
- 8:18Speaker 1: the series. But in the end, the defense does bite them.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And we're seeing the replays in the screenshots of j.
- 8:24Speaker 1: T rel Muto immediately pointing over to first for Kirkering,
- 8:29Speaker 1: is that what you do? So give me the catcher's perspective.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Right ball goes back to your pitcher and there are
- 8:34Speaker 1: two outs, got plenty of time. He could have jogged
- 8:38Speaker 1: halfway over there and underhand tossed it.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I do as yell as yell, take your time, stepping throw,
- 8:46Speaker 2: stepping throw. Never like I'm never like you're good, you're good,
- 8:50Speaker 2: you're good because it's like you're I'm good. What I
- 8:52Speaker 2: can take it easy, I can do something I never do. No,
- 8:56Speaker 2: take your time, stepping throw, stepping throw, no panic, just
- 9:01Speaker 2: like when they hit a ball on the right side,
- 9:03Speaker 2: every time you get over like it's just it's what's said.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I'm sure he said. I mean c J. T ah Man,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I'm not. I'm not sure what his thought process was.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Like we're ready, we're ready to go in and we're
- 9:19Speaker 2: ready to hit again. We're ready to try to turn
- 9:22Speaker 2: the lineup over and get Schwarber and Harper up like
- 9:27Speaker 2: and he yuinched it home.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess I should say if he feels it cleanly,
- 9:32Speaker 1: he has time. He did bobble, so then it starts
- 9:35Speaker 1: to get a little bit hectic.
- 9:36Speaker 2: But still that's why you say step and throw. That's
- 9:39Speaker 2: why you say step and throw. Because Pa hees his
- 9:44Speaker 2: credit busting it down the line. You never know as
- 9:46Speaker 2: soon as it's bobbled like that. But he did a
- 9:48Speaker 2: great job. He reached down with his bare hand to
- 9:52Speaker 2: pick it up, set your feet stepping through. I don't
- 9:55Speaker 2: want to see you, you know, I don't want to
- 9:56Speaker 2: see you like trying a gun sling in from underneath.
- 9:58Speaker 2: You still have you have plenty of time.
- 10:03Speaker 1: For the Phillies. They ran into a buzzsaw. That is
- 10:06Speaker 1: traditional starting pitching. What a concept, and the Phillies have
- 10:10Speaker 1: it too right. This was really fun to watch in
- 10:12Speaker 1: this series because there's so much good starting pitching. Phillies,
- 10:15Speaker 1: of course, are missing Zach Wheeler. Dodgers are able to
- 10:19Speaker 1: throw out a one through four that is disgusting. But
- 10:23Speaker 1: for me, what stands out in three out of the
- 10:25Speaker 1: four games is the Big Three not doing enough. Whether
- 10:28Speaker 1: it's good pitching or not. I mean, at least figure
- 10:30Speaker 1: out a way to get on base. I know it's
- 10:32Speaker 1: really good pitching, but in this series they had a
- 10:36Speaker 1: great Game three. I'm talking about Trey Turner, Kyle Schwarber,
- 10:39Speaker 1: and Bryce Harper. But here again in Game four, not much.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Believe we got the numbers in one for fourteen four strikeouts.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I mean, those are the guys that carry the team
- 10:51Speaker 1: the whole year, and they haven't done that too much
- 10:53Speaker 1: in the last couple seasons. In the playoffs and it
- 10:56Speaker 1: could turn into the last dance for some that are
- 11:00Speaker 1: part of the mix here. You would think they're going
- 11:02Speaker 1: to try and make sure that they keep Kyle Schwarber.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I think Castianos will probably head somewhere else, and he
- 11:08Speaker 1: had a huge knock for this team, and I don't
- 11:11Speaker 1: even think he would have been starting if Bader was healthy.
- 11:14Speaker 1: But the team's gonna look a little different next year. Kratz,
- 11:17Speaker 1: There's been a lot of disappointment. Philly fans are going
- 11:20Speaker 1: to be beyond destroy. You can give me the Philly
- 11:22Speaker 1: perspective here and what it's going to sound like on
- 11:25Speaker 1: the radio tomorrow and the talk shows and the post
- 11:28Speaker 1: game on TV, the whole deal, right, and how Philly
- 11:30Speaker 1: fans are feeling when they look at their roster and
- 11:33Speaker 1: see one of the best teams in baseball all year long,
- 11:37Speaker 1: a dominant home team that was not winning home games
- 11:40Speaker 1: just now in the postseason, and a very early exit.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I mean they saw two home playoff games this year
- 11:45Speaker 1: after everything that they went through during the regular season,
- 11:48Speaker 1: and at the trade deadline they pick up a guy
- 11:50Speaker 1: like Duran also Arison Vader, who was great for them
- 11:54Speaker 1: and was hobbled in this series. But let's go to
- 11:57Speaker 1: Duran first and then we can go bigger picture with
- 11:59Speaker 1: the phil. So anything on the decision making side in
- 12:03Speaker 1: this game that bothered you. Duran comes in at the
- 12:06Speaker 1: perfect time. We know that you gotta nail down a safe.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Then they walk show Hey Otani intentionally, who has struggled
- 12:12Speaker 1: mightily in this series. I'm not saying I wouldn't have
- 12:14Speaker 1: done that, right because if Otani does something, you go
- 12:17Speaker 1: you two homers against him? Why didn't they just intentionally
- 12:20Speaker 1: walk him? But your thoughts on that sequence.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I go profile right there. I don't go one for
- 12:26Speaker 2: eighteen with nine strikeouts. You know sho he Volpi was struggling.
- 12:33Speaker 2: But Charlie Manuel will say water levels out every time
- 12:39Speaker 2: you see a new guy. Every time you are a
- 12:41Speaker 2: big league player with confidence, you think the next time
- 12:44Speaker 2: is when I'm going to get out of the slump.
- 12:46Speaker 2: You cannot let the profile of Durans. Now, if he
- 12:50Speaker 2: can run that four steamer you know up above the
- 12:53Speaker 2: zone away, you're fine because up and d show Hey
- 12:57Speaker 2: can turn on it. But it's when he runs that
- 13:00Speaker 2: sinker or that splinker, that splitter sinker that kind of
- 13:05Speaker 2: runs into show Hay's path and he's able to do
- 13:08Speaker 2: a lot of damage to it. I love the move.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I do. The guy had walked three guys in twenty
- 13:15Speaker 2: four innings as a Philly never in his career, I think,
- 13:21Speaker 2: or maybe this season. I said it confidently, and now
- 13:23Speaker 2: I'm not as confident. Had he ever walked a runner
- 13:27Speaker 2: with the bases loaded. I liked the move. I thought
- 13:30Speaker 2: he had a great at bat. I thought Mooki had
- 13:32Speaker 2: a great at bat, and he laid off some really
- 13:35Speaker 2: tough pitches at the top of the zone. Credit to Mooki.
- 13:39Speaker 2: I thought it was a great play there. Maybe they
- 13:41Speaker 2: could have gone kept with Duran a little bit longer,
- 13:45Speaker 2: but you know, that's super hindsight and then you're never
- 13:49Speaker 2: getting to kirkering. But I you know, Durand did everything
- 13:54Speaker 2: he could do in my opinion, But that inning doesn't
- 13:57Speaker 2: happen unless the umpire box is strike three two. Now
- 14:04Speaker 2: I'm forgetting who Alic calling Alex Alex.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And it was close. It was close. Let's not act
- 14:11Speaker 1: like this was egregious.
- 14:13Speaker 2: No, no, no, yeah, we will have.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Strike And in a big game like this, you would
- 14:18Speaker 1: think you have a challenge left in a spot like.
- 14:21Speaker 2: That, yep. JT's JT's definitely. I mean, you saw him
- 14:25Speaker 2: turn around. That run ended up scoring walks. Walks will
- 14:30Speaker 2: kill you. And that one, that one got it mm.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Hmm, here it is. I mean it's a strike. I
- 14:40Speaker 1: get it. It's a strike.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Just like didn't lose the game, the umpire didn't lose
- 14:47Speaker 2: the game. This was. This was as good a series
- 14:49Speaker 2: without a going to Game five as I thought it
- 14:52Speaker 2: was going to be like this. These are two really
- 14:56Speaker 2: close teams, and I know the Dodgers came out three
- 14:58Speaker 2: to one. The Philly had a lead in every single game.
- 15:02Speaker 2: The Dodgers came back and won every single game that
- 15:07Speaker 2: they were behind. The Dodgers were winning, and they lost
- 15:13Speaker 2: the one game that they were in the lead. So
- 15:16Speaker 2: it's it was such a great series. And just like
- 15:19Speaker 2: I'm not sure who that was. It was just up
- 15:20Speaker 2: there said this was the World Series. To me, the
- 15:25Speaker 2: Dodgers are the favorite to win it. Yep.
- 15:29Speaker 1: And I think they'll have a tough test with whoever
- 15:32Speaker 1: comes out of the other side.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I would, man, I don't think they come up very well.
- 15:37Speaker 1: No, I don't think they do either. I think the
- 15:39Speaker 1: Brewers match up better. I still think the Dodgers would
- 15:41Speaker 1: take them down. I think on the American League side,
- 15:45Speaker 1: Toronto and Seattle looked pretty good. Detroit for me, is
- 15:49Speaker 1: a step down, but you got the Schoogle factor. They
- 15:52Speaker 1: got themselves to a game five. We'll get to all
- 15:54Speaker 1: of that, and I want to get to the Dodgers
- 15:56Speaker 1: rolling forward, but to close the book on the Phillies,
- 15:59Speaker 1: which I'm sure we'll do much more of on tomorrow's
- 16:01Speaker 1: Foul Territory episode, which begins live at one o'clock Eastern Time.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Thoughts on how Phillies fans are going to react They
- 16:08Speaker 1: didn't get that part of the equation from you yet.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Cut them all tomorrow Monday after, it's gonna be cut
- 16:16Speaker 2: every one of them. I mean, I see I see
- 16:18Speaker 2: people just throwing entire rosters out there that they're like, yeah,
- 16:22Speaker 2: I don't see him bringing Turner back. I don't see
- 16:24Speaker 2: him bringing bone back. And it's like whoa, whoa. Okay,
- 16:28Speaker 2: first of all, these guys are signed for a long time,
- 16:31Speaker 2: but it's going to be who's to blame? Well, I
- 16:34Speaker 2: blame Rob Thompson for calling the calling that bunt? How
- 16:38Speaker 2: are you gonna call that butt? It's like it's like
- 16:40Speaker 2: Rob Thompson told Kyle Schwarber to bunt, it was a
- 16:44Speaker 2: tough lefty matchup against the pitcher that gets a lot
- 16:48Speaker 2: of fly balls and strikeouts. They're gonna say, dumb Rowski
- 16:53Speaker 2: cut them. How did we not get Kyle Tucker? How
- 16:56Speaker 2: were we not even on the Corbett like, you got
- 17:00Speaker 2: to replace Zach Wheeler somehow. This is what's gonna happen.
- 17:03Speaker 2: It's just it's gonna be fire like. Let's put it
- 17:05Speaker 2: this way. Nick Costianos had two of the biggest hits
- 17:08Speaker 2: this entire postseason. One of the schmucks on the radio
- 17:13Speaker 2: that I listened to the channel I listen to, Yeah,
- 17:16Speaker 2: he goes, I'm done with this guy. Do you hear
- 17:18Speaker 2: his comments? We pay money to go to these Phillies
- 17:23Speaker 2: games and he's gonna say these things. Nick Costianas has
- 17:26Speaker 2: been nothing but a pro in a sense that he'll
- 17:31Speaker 2: say what's on his mind, that's what you want from athletes,
- 17:34Speaker 2: and then he's backed it up even when he's not
- 17:37Speaker 2: been out on the field all the time, he's backed up.
- 17:39Speaker 2: He's had huge hits the last two postseasons.
- 17:43Speaker 1: You're right, he does come up clutch for them, and
- 17:45Speaker 1: all he did was point out that that place can
- 17:47Speaker 1: be the best Nirvana ever or it can be a
- 17:51Speaker 1: hell hole for the home team because of how crazy
- 17:54Speaker 1: it gets it is. Navid said, it comes down to
- 17:59Speaker 1: lefty pitching against the Dodgers. Do the Cubs or the
- 18:02Speaker 1: Brewers have it? I mean the Cubs have some left
- 18:09Speaker 1: handed starting pitching.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I don't.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I think it's.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Because you got to shut down show, because you got
- 18:18Speaker 2: to shut down Freddy. You can't say that about anything.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I mean, the Dodgers lineup is stacked. It comes down
- 18:26Speaker 2: to whichever staff has the best ability to make pitches,
- 18:30Speaker 2: because the Dodgers don't go out of their zone. And
- 18:34Speaker 2: so if you're making pitches like the Phillies did this series,
- 18:38Speaker 2: you got them. You can beat that. You can hang
- 18:41Speaker 2: with the Dodgers, and I think the Brewers, the Brewers
- 18:44Speaker 2: lineup can put together such amazing, amazing at bats against
- 18:51Speaker 2: against the Dodgers starting rotation, kind of like a little
- 18:53Speaker 2: Cam Schlitzer from last night. The Brewers just aren't going
- 18:58Speaker 2: to punch out and times in six innings like the
- 19:01Speaker 2: Phillies did. The Brewers are going to put the ball
- 19:05Speaker 2: in play and move guys around, give them big at bats.
- 19:09Speaker 2: And maybe make the Dodgers go in deeper into their
- 19:13Speaker 2: bullpen to actual bullpen guys and not just starters. And
- 19:16Speaker 2: we also got to remember they need all their starters
- 19:18Speaker 2: now for a seven game series, so you can't go
- 19:23Speaker 2: to all your starters in the bullpen like you have
- 19:26Speaker 2: this series. So it'll be interesting. I think it's got
- 19:29Speaker 2: to be the Brewers would have the best chance. But
- 19:32Speaker 2: I still think that Dodgers are ahead of them right now,
- 19:35Speaker 2: and they because they've won this huge series, and I
- 19:39Speaker 2: think it's I think it's the there's to win. I
- 19:41Speaker 2: think these are the two best teams in the National League.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Oh, the Dodgers starting pitching matched up against either the
- 19:46Speaker 1: Cubs or the Brewers, it's not close.
- 19:49Speaker 2: It's starting pitching to starting pitching. No, no, no, I'm
- 19:54Speaker 2: saying Dodgers starting pitchers versus the Brewers lineup. No. Yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 2: the Browers can put together good at bats.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'm just saying, Kratz, let's go with Milwaukee, right. I mean,
- 20:07Speaker 1: Freddy Perrault is a bona fide top end started. Yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 1: and I know he had a hiccup here, you know,
- 20:12Speaker 1: in the beginning of the game. It's on going right now,
- 20:14Speaker 1: But look at game two of their postseason, they were
- 20:18Speaker 1: already in bullpen game mode. I'm not saying that's bad,
- 20:21Speaker 1: but look what the Dodgers throw out there for four
- 20:24Speaker 1: games now. And I know it wasn't the best night
- 20:27Speaker 1: for Yamamoto, but he's shown a lot of good all
- 20:32Speaker 1: season long, and I do not want to face him
- 20:35Speaker 1: in another postseason matchup. So this team is peaking at
- 20:38Speaker 1: the right time, Kratz. They had won I believe it
- 20:42Speaker 1: was nine in a row heading into the Game three loss.
- 20:46Speaker 1: You know, they were four and oh so far in
- 20:48Speaker 1: the postseason. They got their tune up against the Reds,
- 20:50Speaker 1: like you mentioned, and yes, James, they found their closer.
- 20:56Speaker 1: What where would they be without Roki Sasaki right now?
- 21:00Speaker 1: Maybe in the same spot, but maybe not. And it's
- 21:03Speaker 1: going to be even more important as we go forward.
- 21:05Speaker 1: And let's look at this game. I mean, he wasn't
- 21:07Speaker 1: just your closer. He gave you nine outs. Nine outs.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I don't, I don't, yeah, And honestly I get it.
- 21:16Speaker 2: In the last day he started to throw a few
- 21:18Speaker 2: more balls. It didn't look like they had any answer.
- 21:22Speaker 2: They were behind on the heater. He would paint a heater,
- 21:26Speaker 2: he'd throw a splitter out or a fork ball out
- 21:29Speaker 2: of the zone, and then whatever pitch he needed to
- 21:33Speaker 2: finish that guy with. It was usually heaters later on
- 21:36Speaker 2: in his outing, but he's the question was is he
- 21:40Speaker 2: gonna throw enough strikes and he was like, yes, because
- 21:43Speaker 2: nobody can hit me. I'm just gonna pound the zone
- 21:46Speaker 2: with everything. Maybe take a chase chase pitch here or there,
- 21:50Speaker 2: and then go right to pounding the zone again. He
- 21:52Speaker 2: has he has settled in and there is a that
- 21:56Speaker 2: new split or split uh set up that they had
- 22:00Speaker 2: he has in the stretch. It's it's impressive, like this
- 22:04Speaker 2: is this is Dodgers development all over it.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Mm hmm. I mean he instantly has become one of
- 22:09Speaker 1: the best closers in the sport stuff wise and lengthwise.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And credit to Tyler Glasnow too. He hadn't started a
- 22:16Speaker 1: game in twelve days. He had appeared obviously earlier in
- 22:20Speaker 1: Game one for an inning and two thirds, but in
- 22:22Speaker 1: this one, six shutout innings, two hits, three walks. That's
- 22:26Speaker 1: where you have to watch with him. Sometimes three walks doable,
- 22:28Speaker 1: eight strikeouts, eighty three pitches. Fastball velocity was up from
- 22:32Speaker 1: the regular season. You might have wanted another inning out
- 22:36Speaker 1: of Tyler. He's gone through a lot of injuries over
- 22:39Speaker 1: the last couple of seasons. He didn't pitch in the
- 22:41Speaker 1: playoffs last year for this team. Remember this was his
- 22:43Speaker 1: first postseason start with the Dodgers. Gets moved over to
- 22:47Speaker 1: LA signs the big extension, and he's perfect for the Dodgers.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Why because he might not ever go thirty starts again
- 22:55Speaker 1: in his career, But man, he's a number one when
- 22:59Speaker 1: he's and he's feeling good. He's a number one. Right
- 23:02Speaker 1: if you have a do or die game and you're
- 23:05Speaker 1: down to glass, now you feel incredible. And that's what's
- 23:08Speaker 1: special about him. So I know there are plenty of
- 23:11Speaker 1: Dodger fans that are outten after him. Sometimes he's on
- 23:14Speaker 1: our show pretty frequently. But the dude's talented as hell.
- 23:17Speaker 1: He is such a tough at bat, so credit to
- 23:19Speaker 1: him too. I mean, he matched up against the current
- 23:21Speaker 1: number one starter for the Phillies is going to finish
- 23:23Speaker 1: number two in Cy Young and they went toe to toe.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Last Now will he has a stuff and will always
- 23:30Speaker 2: be a number one because he's on the Dodgers. They're
- 23:34Speaker 2: never gonna let him be an ace. And that's Okay,
- 23:37Speaker 2: anything starts barking. They're like, hey, you know what, game
- 23:40Speaker 2: seventy five of the season, We're gonna give you thirty
- 23:43Speaker 2: five to forty games off you come back, will build
- 23:47Speaker 2: you up. You're a beast in the postseason because you
- 23:50Speaker 2: have electric stuff from six foot eight that a fastball
- 23:55Speaker 2: that cuts, a four seamer that stays straight. Started mixing
- 23:59Speaker 2: in that sinker every once in a while. The slider
- 24:02Speaker 2: this year was really devastating. Today. He used it just
- 24:06Speaker 2: to keep them because this thing's not always the curveball
- 24:09Speaker 2: is not always in the zone. He is. He is
- 24:13Speaker 2: the quintessential get the most out of somebody when you're
- 24:16Speaker 2: in a certain organization, and that organization obviously the Rays
- 24:20Speaker 2: they were doing it. The Pirates were like, no way,
- 24:22Speaker 2: we can get that much out of you. The Rays
- 24:25Speaker 2: were like, we'll get value out of you. And then
- 24:27Speaker 2: the Dodgers said, we'll pay you while we get value
- 24:30Speaker 2: out of you.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Boom, exactly.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Question on the Philly side from oh, we're going to
- 24:37Speaker 1: bring it up run around second. Does Rob Thompson get fired?
- 24:41Speaker 2: No? Should he? I'm terrible at knowing if a guy
- 24:46Speaker 2: get he's going to get fired. Should he? No, he
- 24:49Speaker 2: should not. He shouldn't. This is not what did he do?
- 24:53Speaker 2: Is it a fireable offense? Is it? Did he not
- 24:57Speaker 2: put his team in a good position to play? Did
- 25:00Speaker 2: he not handle the Nick Costianos stuff very well? Did
- 25:04Speaker 2: he have his number one starter going into the season?
- 25:08Speaker 2: Was his bullpen not stacked enough? Like to me, I
- 25:12Speaker 2: think his moves they're gonna be questioned because they lost,
- 25:17Speaker 2: But I don't think. I don't think he made any
- 25:21Speaker 2: fireable offenses. Now behind the scenes, if there's stuff that, hey,
- 25:26Speaker 2: you know what, we got to have guys that are,
- 25:29Speaker 2: you know, getting in line, you know, certain things that
- 25:32Speaker 2: could happen, but that this organization, to me, is a
- 25:35Speaker 2: very well oiled machine. They're running so well. If anything,
- 25:40Speaker 2: somebody gets fired, it might be k Long. Kevin Long
- 25:45Speaker 2: might move to another organization, and whoever gets them, it'll
- 25:48Speaker 2: be twenty nine other teams lining up. Because he's probably
- 25:52Speaker 2: one of the best hitting coaches. But somebody has to
- 25:56Speaker 2: somebody has to pay the price for the hitters not
- 25:59Speaker 2: being able to make adjustment. Is that his fault? No,
- 26:03Speaker 2: because he gets these guys going. But in my opinion,
- 26:06Speaker 2: if I were to guess, that's probably the route they're
- 26:08Speaker 2: going to go, and I wholeheartedly disagree with it.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but last four years World Series appearance, great CUS appearance,
- 26:16Speaker 1: and then the last two seasons with expectations sky high
- 26:19Speaker 1: for this team and tons of names in that lineup,
- 26:23Speaker 1: National League Division Series knocked out. And some of that
- 26:26Speaker 1: is many much of that is credit to the Dodgers
- 26:29Speaker 1: this year, the Mets last year. But stars got to be,
- 26:32Speaker 1: stars got to show up. We didn't have a big
- 26:34Speaker 1: Bryce Harper moment either. For the Phillies. The thing that
- 26:37Speaker 1: I do think will happen is Dave Dombrowski will be
- 26:40Speaker 1: forced to shake things up more with the offense. Clearly
- 26:44Speaker 1: this offense is not bringing it in the postseason right now,
- 26:48Speaker 1: so it'll be painful. And it was talked about a
- 26:52Speaker 1: little last year. Nothing really changed with the offense. I
- 26:56Speaker 1: think they'll try to do a little bit more. It's
- 26:58Speaker 1: not easy because a lot of the you know, you've
- 27:00Speaker 1: got certain guys that are tied up for a long
- 27:02Speaker 1: period of time, Like you mentioned, Trade Turners there for
- 27:04Speaker 1: a while, Bryce Harper's there for a while. Obviously those
- 27:05Speaker 1: guys aren't moving. But Shorber's free agent, maybe they don't
- 27:08Speaker 1: bring him back. Castianos I said earlier, I think was
- 27:11Speaker 1: free agent. He's got one more year left, but maybe
- 27:13Speaker 1: they eat some money and trade him. So things will
- 27:15Speaker 1: happen with the Phillies just.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Thrown almost Nick was almost gone this year. From what
- 27:21Speaker 2: I heard, it was Boem and Nick Costianos for Kyle Tucker.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Similar to what the Astros did, you know with east
- 27:30Speaker 2: O Paradis and Cam Smith And there was also you know,
- 27:33Speaker 2: a prospect worked in there, so would you have had
- 27:37Speaker 2: that extra left handed bat in the order. But if
- 27:40Speaker 2: you go parallel seasons, I get it. I mean Tucker
- 27:44Speaker 2: had a much better season than Nick Castianas. I'm not
- 27:46Speaker 2: trying to compare that. I'm saying Kyle Tucker, what he's
- 27:49Speaker 2: done in the postseason right now, would he have done?
- 27:54Speaker 2: You can only have a parallel season all of a sudden.
- 27:56Speaker 2: You wouldn't just get put in the Phillies line up
- 27:58Speaker 2: and be like, well, you know what, I'm healthy, I'm
- 28:00Speaker 2: you know, I'm doing all this stuff. He would have
- 28:02Speaker 2: been a great pickup. But I see them pursuing him,
- 28:07Speaker 2: I really do. I see them pursuing Kyle Tucker. Can
- 28:12Speaker 2: you add another ten to thirteen year contract onto the
- 28:16Speaker 2: books because they're gonna have Ranger Suarez money. They're gonna
- 28:21Speaker 2: I think they're gonna probably pick Upjosey Alvarado's contract, which
- 28:25Speaker 2: he has an option, so they're gonna, you know, that'll
- 28:27Speaker 2: that'll bolster that bullpen. You got Alvarado and Duran coming
- 28:30Speaker 2: in at the end, kirk Ring's back and still really good.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I think Strom still has a little bit. He has
- 28:35Speaker 2: one year left, but don't quote me on that. But
- 28:38Speaker 2: then you basically you have twenty million from Schwarber, twenty
- 28:42Speaker 2: million from Nick coming off. I think I.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Think Nick's got one more year.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I thought we said no, I think he's I think
- 28:49Speaker 2: that's it.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Oh, you think that's it?
- 28:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 28:51Speaker 1: JT real Muto is a free agent. By the way,
- 28:54Speaker 1: after this JT that comes off, Ranger Suarez comes up.
- 28:58Speaker 2: So there's it's like seventy five million. Are you willing
- 29:01Speaker 2: to put that seventy five million into another starting pitcher?
- 29:07Speaker 2: Is Andrew Paynter ready? Are you willing to put it
- 29:10Speaker 2: into a bat and JT real Muto? Because if not,
- 29:16Speaker 2: you got big questions that you have to go find
- 29:18Speaker 2: a catcher. And I think if JT wants to take
- 29:21Speaker 2: a two or three year deal. He comes back, he's
- 29:23Speaker 2: still very serviceable, above average catcher. Back there. It plays
- 29:28Speaker 2: all the time, caught the most innings of any catcher
- 29:30Speaker 2: in baseball this year, or maybe all based all National League,
- 29:35Speaker 2: I think.
- 29:35Speaker 1: But anyway, Yeah, he's up there, he's up there.
- 29:37Speaker 2: You have you have flexibility, You have flexibility to change it.
- 29:41Speaker 2: How you change it, I don't know.
- 29:44Speaker 1: By the way, Castanos does have another twenty mil. He
- 29:47Speaker 1: does confirmed, so he has one more, one more year.
- 29:50Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean they they could deal him if
- 29:52Speaker 1: you know, there's issues there that could happen. Okay, let's
- 29:56Speaker 1: finish with a couple Dodgers question marks heading into the
- 29:59Speaker 1: next round. Number one, and a fan asked this, what
- 30:04Speaker 1: do you do with Clayton kershaw.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Man. I don't have I don't have the cojones to
- 30:11Speaker 2: say Kirsch on the roster.
- 30:14Speaker 1: You don't have it?
- 30:15Speaker 2: I do? I do.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I did it last year halfway through the season when
- 30:19Speaker 1: Verlander didn't have it. He actually was better down the
- 30:22Speaker 1: stretch this year, but last year is like he doesn't
- 30:23Speaker 1: have it. That's not a playoff pitcher.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I'm still putting them on there at all tough. I'm
- 30:29Speaker 2: still putting them on there. Okay, he had he had
- 30:31Speaker 2: three three three five this year for the season. It's
- 30:34Speaker 2: not apples to apples. The Verlander to Kershall things not
- 30:37Speaker 2: apples to apples. The Phillies they got them, they got him.
- 30:42Speaker 2: But he also shouldn't have shouldn't have gone back out
- 30:44Speaker 2: there had the score been different. I think they come
- 30:48Speaker 2: and get they come and get Kershall. But he helped
- 30:51Speaker 2: the boys in that situation, and it may have actually
- 30:53Speaker 2: helped them tonight. Helped the Dodgers tonight. So I'm leaving
- 30:57Speaker 2: them on. I don't think they have that many options.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Look at look at out what else they have in
- 31:02Speaker 2: that bullpen, and you're gonna need length. I think he
- 31:06Speaker 2: stays on.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Okay, Tanner Scott's off. I mean now he's out for
- 31:11Speaker 1: the next round here, and I mean I know most
- 31:13Speaker 1: Dodger fans don't want to see him the rest of
- 31:15Speaker 1: this season anyway, and they hope that he just resets
- 31:18Speaker 1: and comes back and figures things out for twenty twenty six.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Not going to get into what happened. We don't know
- 31:23Speaker 1: much details yet. Obviously, jokes were made online. It's it's
- 31:26Speaker 1: a medical thing, though I don't know what happened. It's
- 31:28Speaker 1: it's it could be serious. So anyway, we're not going
- 31:30Speaker 1: to get into that right now until we know what happened.
- 31:33Speaker 1: But Tanner Scott will not be part of the playoff roster.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Justin Robleski can give you some moments and at least be,
- 31:41Speaker 1: you know, a depth guy out of the bullpen for them,
- 31:42Speaker 1: and he replaced Scott, so he's there starting pitching. Otani
- 31:48Speaker 1: was going to go game five. That does not mean
- 31:52Speaker 1: that he needs to go game one. They've got a
- 31:54Speaker 1: plan they like him with an off day afterward. Do
- 31:58Speaker 1: you do that? I'm not concerned, But do you go
- 32:04Speaker 1: Snell game one? No? Tiny, game two?
- 32:07Speaker 2: Yes? Yes, because I think Snell's their biggest workhorse of everybody.
- 32:13Speaker 2: And if you can get Snell game one to five
- 32:17Speaker 2: and possibly something out of the pen and seven. Like
- 32:21Speaker 2: I'm not saying they need that, I'm saying he has
- 32:23Speaker 2: the ability to do that and show Hay's hitting as
- 32:26Speaker 2: much as I'll say his hitting definitely declines after he pitches.
- 32:30Speaker 2: The stats say that. That's my opinion. Setting him up
- 32:33Speaker 2: in game two and he gets a day off is monstrous.
- 32:38Speaker 2: And the reason he was one for nineteen is because
- 32:43Speaker 2: some kind of stat about guys who have an arm
- 32:45Speaker 2: angle lower than thirty five degrees he struggles with. So
- 32:49Speaker 2: if you bring a lefty in with an arm angle
- 32:51Speaker 2: that's above thirty five degrees, he rakes it. So the
- 32:54Speaker 2: Phillies deployed a great, a great matchup against.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Him, and we're going we talk a lot more about
- 33:02Speaker 1: what happened here and the Dodgers moving forward and who
- 33:06Speaker 1: they'll be facing, the whole deal. Okay, on Foul Territory,
