Latest / The IBS Solution with Brooke Kane / The Real Reason You Have Diarrhea After Gallbladder Removal (It’s NOT What You Think!)
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: If your gallbladder was removed and your digestion has never been the same since, you were probably told that the diarrhea is from bile.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Maybe they called it bile acid malabsorption, maybe they gave you well col, cholesterol, or some other medication to bind the bile, and they told you that that's the answer, but that isn't the answer.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: And you can spend years trying to slow the diarrhea while the real problem inside your gut keeps getting worse.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I'm Brooke Kane.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I'm a registered nurse and functional medicine practitioner, and I'm gonna show you what can actually change inside your gut after your gallbladder is removed, why bile binders miss so much of it, and what you need to look for if your digestion has never recovered.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: This is where the whole story usually starts.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: You're having gallbladder problems, somebody tells you it needs to come out, then you hear something like, you don't really need your gallbladder, anyways.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Technically, sure, you can live without it, you'll survive.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: I can technically live without my right hand, too.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: That doesn't mean my life is gonna be easy without it.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Your gallbladder had a job.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: It stored bile and released it when you needed it, especially when you ate fat.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Once the gallbladder's gone, that system changes.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And this is where the problems can start.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: You can suddenly have diarrhea after meals, cramping, bloating, or that feeling that food is going straight through you, your bowel movements become unpredictable, and now you're wondering why nobody warned you that this can happen.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Then you go back to the doctor and they give the whole thing a name.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's IBS.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's bile acid malabsorption, it's post-cholysystectomy diarrhea.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Fine.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: But giving it a name doesn't tell you why your gut is now a disaster.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Now, bile absolutely matters here.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: After gallbladder removal, bile is no longer being stored and released in the same controlled way.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: It can drip into the digestive tract more continuously, which can irritate the colon and contribute to diarrhea.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: That's the part doctors focus on.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: So they give you something that binds the bile.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And sometimes that helps.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it barely does anything.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: This is where I want you to ask the obvious question.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: If bile is the whole problem, why are you still sick?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Why are you still cramping and bloated?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Why does food still run right through you?
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Why are you still planning your life around bathrooms?
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Because something else changed.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: And your bile binder does absolutely nothing about that.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Here is the part nobody explains.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Bile does a lot more than help you digest a cheeseburger.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: It also helps control what is able to live inside your gut.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: So when you permanently change the way bile is being released, you can change the gut itself.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: The wrong bacteria can start taking over.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Yeast can overgrow, parasites can become a problem, the protective bacteria that are supposed to keep all of this under control can disappear, and digestion can stop working the way it should.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Now you have a completely different gut than the one that you had before surgery.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: This is why I do not hear bile acid malabsorption and just stop there.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: That's not the end of the story.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: It is another clue that something in the digestive system isn't working properly.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And if all you do is bind up bile, you can leave everything else still sitting there.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And that's exactly what happened with Janet.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: After Janet had her gallbladder removed, her digestion started falling apart.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: She developed urgent diarrhea, cramping after eating, bloating, that awful feeling that food was running right through her.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: She went back to her doctor and was told it was probably IBS.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Then came the bile binders, and that didn't solve it.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: So Janet kept looking.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: She saw gastroenterologists, functional medicine doctors, naturopaths.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: She tried all the diets, load FODMAP, supplements.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Year after year, she kept hearing the same thing.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Your labs look normal, but her gut was clearly not.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: So when Janet came to me, we stopped guessing and we actually looked at the right stuff.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: We ran a comprehensive advanced test, and this is where the entire story changed.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Her digestion was not functioning properly.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Her keystone bacteria, the bacteria that are supposed to help protect the gut and keep harmful bacteria and organisms under control, were severely depleted.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: She had multiple overgrowths of harmful bacteria like klebsiella, Pseudomonas, Enerococcus, and more.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: So tell me something.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: What is wellcol gonna do to Klebsiella bacteria?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: What is cholesterol gonna do to the Pseudomonas?
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: What's a bile binder gonna do to depleted protective bacteria?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Nothing.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Absolutely nothing.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Because Janet's problem was much bigger than just bile.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: The medication was treating one part of the picture while the rest of her gut was still a disaster.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: If this is sounding a little too familiar and your gallbladder is gone but your digestion never recovered, there's a link below to reach out to me.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: I work with women every day who were told it's IBS, it's bile acid malabsorption, or just something they had to manage.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: We run the right kind of testing I just showed you.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Figure out what actually changed inside your gut and build a plan around that.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: If you're done guessing and you want real data, click the link below to learn more about what we do.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Okay, and now why bile acid malabsorption is not your root cause.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Women get on calls with me all the time and they say, I already know what my problem is, I have bile acid malabsorption.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: No, you know what's happening.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: You still don't know why it's happening.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Bio acid malabsorption is not the end of the investigation.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: It's another sign that your digestive system is not functioning properly.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: It does not explain depleted protective bacteria, bacterial overgrowths, yeast, parasites, or why your digestion itself has completely shut down.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: And it certainly doesn't explain why you can take a biobinder and still feel terrible.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: The label sounds very specific.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: It sounds medical and it sounds like an answer, but if the treatment isn't fixing you, then you don't have the full answer.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: And here's another reason this gets missed.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Sometimes the diarrhea starts right after gallbladder surgery.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: That one is easy to connect, but sometimes it doesn't.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I see women whose gallbladder came out five, 10, even 15 years ago, and they felt mostly fine at first.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: And then slowly things started changing.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: A little more urgency, more bloating, then cramping, then food starts running right through them.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: And because so much time has passed, nobody connects it back to the missing gallbladder.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: So now she gets told, oh, it's IBS.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: She gets told, try eating low FODMAP, she takes a modium, she gets another medication, and she can spend the next 10 years treating IBS without anybody ever connecting it back to the surgery that changed her digestive system in the first place.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: That is why your timeline matters.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: If your digestion was never the same after gallbladder removal, even if it got worse gradually, that's not something to ignore.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Once we had Janet's real data, we finally knew what we were dealing with.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: We were not just trying to slow down bowel movements anymore.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: We could actually see the digestive dysfunction, which protective bacteria were missing, which harmful bacteria had taken over.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Then we could build the plan around what was actually happening in her gut.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: As we addressed those problems, her digestion started behaving normally again.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: The cramping settled down, her stools became formed and predictable.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: For the first time in years, she was not living her life around the bathroom.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: That didn't happen because we found a stronger bile binder.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: It happened because we finally stopped pretending that bile was the whole story.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: If your gallbladder's gone and your digestion has never recovered, especially if you've been told you have IBS or bile acid malabsorption, stop assuming you already know what your problem is.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: You may know one piece of it.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: That's not the same thing.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: If you're still having diarrhea, urgency cramping, bloating, food running right through you, then something is still wrong and you need testing that actually shows what's happening inside your gut.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Earlier I showed you Janet's results.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: That's the kind of information I want.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: I want to see what your digestion is doing, whether your protective bacteria have disappeared, whether harmful bacteria, yeast, parasites, other organisms have taken over.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I want to see the actual gut that has been causing these symptoms instead of guessing based on one diagnosis that somebody gave you years ago.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: If your gallbladder was removed and your gut has been a mess ever since, reach out to me.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: We'll run the kind of testing that I showed you today and find out what actually changed inside your gut.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: And if you have already had the colonoscopies, blood work tests, stool tests, doctors keep telling you everything looks normal, even though you're still running to the bathroom, watch this next video.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: I'll show you why normal test results can still completely miss what's actually happening inside your gut.
