  Speaker 1: friend like Jesus. Luke seven thirty four says the Son

  Speaker 1: of Man a friend of tax collectors and sinners. You know,

  Speaker 1: I remember the first time I read the scripture in
• 0:19
  Speaker 1: John fifteen and fifteen that states I no longer call
• 0:22
  Speaker 1: you servants, because a servant doesn't know his master's business. Instead,
• 0:28
  Speaker 1: I've called you friends. For everything I learned from my father,
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: I've made known to you, y'all. I was so elated
• 0:36
  Speaker 1: I immediately called my best love, Renee Lee. I was
• 0:40
  Speaker 1: so excited that he called me friend. But here's the
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: awesome part. Not only is he our friend, the scripture
• 0:51
  Speaker 1: today reminds us that Jesus was the friend of sinners too.

  Speaker 1: He lived as a healer, as a restorer of those
• 1:02
  Speaker 1: who have backslidden, those that have made mistakes and gotten
• 1:06
  Speaker 1: off course. Somebody once said, a true friend walks in
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: when everybody else is walking out. A true friend doesn't
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: rub it in. When we make a mistake, they rub
• 1:17
  Speaker 1: it out. I read somewhere that a true friend is
• 1:21
  Speaker 1: like an umbrella. They don't expose you they cover. You see,
• 1:26
  Speaker 1: that's exactly what Jesus did, and that's what we should do.

  Speaker 1: It doesn't mean you overlook wrongs or acts as if
• 1:35
  Speaker 1: they never happen, but you understand that if it were
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: not for the grace of God, you too could be
• 1:42
  Speaker 1: in need of healing and deliverance. When you show mercy
• 1:47
  Speaker 1: to the guilty, when you encourage the discouraged, when you
• 1:51
  Speaker 1: lift people up as everybody else is pushing them down,
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: your actions touch the heart of God in a very
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: special way, to the knees of those around you. When
• 2:02
  Speaker 1: you make it your business to befriend and help God's children,
• 2:05
  Speaker 1: his sons, his daughters by wiping their tears or lifting
• 2:09
  Speaker 1: them up when they're down, be prepared. You're not only
• 2:14
  Speaker 1: going to be outrun with the favor, the blessings and
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: the goodness of God in your life. Oh my goodness,
• 2:20
  Speaker 1: you're going to make a difference, a lasting impact on
• 2:24
  Speaker 1: somebody else's life. Father God, thank you for the people
• 2:28
  Speaker 1: that you placed in our lives and the special role
• 2:32
  Speaker 1: that you've given us to be a friend like Jesus is.
• 2:37
  Speaker 1: You are the ultimate example of a true friend. Thank
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: you that you can take our words of encouragement and
• 2:43
  Speaker 1: bring healing and renewed strength. Help us to see who
• 2:48
  Speaker 1: we can befriend and lift up today in Jesus' name. Hey,

  Speaker 1: now that's your word for today. I want you to
• 2:55
  Speaker 1: take that. I want you to apply that to your
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: everyday life and you continue to be encouraging. It is
