- 2:40Sox players are expressing their anger and confusion
- 2:43over the team's recent decision to fire former
- 2:46manager Alex Cora and several coaches. Veteran
- 2:50shortstop Trevor Story described Cora and the
- 2:53others as some of the best coaches in the world,
- 2:56feeling they didn't get a fair shot. He also
- 3:00stated that the explanation from chief baseball
- 3:03officer Craig Breslow was unsatisfactory, emphasizing
- 3:07a desire for better communication. Rakehander
- 3:11Garrett Whitlock added that the front office
- 3:13made it clear that players should focus solely
- 3:16on playing baseball. highlighting the disconnect
- 3:18between management and the team. Now on to sports.
- 3:28Mike Tomlin spoke with NBC's Maria Taylor about
- 3:32his departure from the Pittsburgh Steelers. He
- 3:35stated that he walked away, in part, due to the
- 3:38recent lack of playoff success, and he believes
- 3:41some of his veterans are worthy of the excitement
- 3:43and the optimism associated with new leadership.
- 3:47Tomlin, in his first interview since resigning
- 3:50in February, noted that this was probably not
- 3:53an overnight decision. He mentioned a sense of
- 3:57loneliness with leadership and felt it was a
- 4:00good time for him personally as well as for the
- 4:02organization. The Steelers have not won a playoff
- 4:06game since 2016. In local sports, the Red Sox
- 4:11bounced back from coaching upheaval to take down
- 4:14Baltimore yesterday. 5 -3, with Connolly Early
- 4:18dominant on the mound and Wilson Contreras driving
- 4:22in two runs. Now they head to Toronto tonight
- 4:25facing the Blue Jays with an interim manager
- 4:28situation still unresolved, a significant distraction
- 4:32for a team fighting to get above .500. That's
- 4:36a critical matchup as Ranger Suarez takes the
- 4:39ball against Dylan Cease. Over on the ice, it's
- 4:44a different story. The Bruins are facing elimination
- 4:47after getting torched by Buffalo 6 -1 yesterday
- 4:51at home. Six different Sabres found the back
- 4:54of the net in a dominant opening period that
- 4:57set the tone. Boston heads to Kaybank Center
- 5:01tomorrow night for Game 5, needing a sharp physical
- 5:04response or their season ends. David Pasternak
- 5:09and the power play have to show up when it matters
- 5:12most. Meanwhile, the Celtics are one win away
- 5:16from advancing. They crushed Philly 128 -96 last
- 5:21night behind Peyton Pritchard's 32 points and
- 5:25Jason Tatum's continued recovery from an Achilles
- 5:29injury. Boston can close it out tomorrow at home
- 5:32against a 76ers team missing Joel Embiid. Tip
- 5:37-off is at 7. In top news. The Pentagon's push
- 5:43to secure rare earth elements leads to the small
- 5:46port city of Kuantan, Malaysia. Here, Linus Rare
- 5:51Earths, an Australian company, has begun producing
- 5:54heavy rare earths, a sector dominated by China.
- 5:58Amanda Lackeys, Linus' chief executive, stated,
- 6:02no one had made a separated heavy rare earth
- 6:05outside of China in 20 years. Paul LaRouche,
- 6:09the company's chief operating officer, claimed
- 6:12it had actually been 30 years. When China halted
- 6:16exports during trade tensions last year, automobile
- 6:19factories in the United States and Europe had
- 6:22to stop production. Now Linus is at the forefront
- 6:26of efforts to counter Beijing's monopoly power.
- 6:30In business news, key home price data is expected
- 6:35Tuesday, where listing prices are rising and
- 6:38falling most this spring. Home price gains likely
- 6:42inched up in February, according to estimates
- 6:45for a closely watched gauge that is due on Tuesday.
- 6:49However, whether you notice prices ramping up
- 6:52or dropping this spring depends on where you
- 6:55live. Home price changes have been tepid over
- 6:58the past year, according to Standard & Poor's
- 7:01CoreLogic Case -Shiller Home Price Indices data.
- 7:05In January, the index was 1 .2 % higher from
- 7:09one year prior. its slowest gain since mid -2023.

- 8:26now, back to the show. Let's talk science. One
- 8:31side of Earth is rapidly getting colder than
- 8:34the other. It is a strange tale of two hemispheres.
- 8:38Research shows the Pacific Hemisphere is losing
- 8:41heat faster than the African Hemisphere. The
- 8:44heat originates from Earth's molten interior,
- 8:47which causes continental drift. Landmass traps
- 8:51more heat than seafloor surface, indicating a
- 8:54hotter Pacific in the past. Scientists from the
- 8:58University of Oslo report that one side of Earth's
- 9:01interior is losing heat much faster than the
- 9:03other. A study published in Geophysical Research
- 9:07Letters uses computer models to analyze how insulated
- 9:11each hemisphere was by continental mass. And
- 9:16in entertainment news, the musical performance
- 9:20-packed movie about pop star Michael Jackson
- 9:23is a hit, despite negative reviews from critics.
- 9:27Hollywood's bet that audiences want to celebrate
- 9:29Michael Jackson paid off this weekend. as a biopic
- 9:33about the pop star opened to an estimated $217
- 9:37.4 million in worldwide sales. Michael grossed
- 9:42$97 million domestically and $120 .4 million
- 9:48internationally. Despite largely negative reviews,
- 9:52audiences flocked to the uplifting film packed
- 9:55with classic songs like Bad and Thriller. Michael
- 10:00earned an upgrade from opening night audiences,
- 10:03with about 60 % of ticket buyers being women.
- 10:07Well, alrighty folks, it's time for the quote
- 10:10of the day. And today, our quote comes from the
- 10:14American architect and visionary, Frank Lloyd
- 10:17Wright. And he said, The mother art is architecture.
- 10:22Without an architecture of our own, we have no
- 10:25soul of our own civilization. And that's a wrap
