Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's your host, Chris, Alf, and Simon.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_03]: My Annie had the dolphin.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_03]: The greatest football team.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_03]: We picked the ball for goal to go.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like no one's ever seen.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: We're in the air, we're on the ground.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_03]: We're always in control.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: And when you say my Annie, you're talking super boldly.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a victory Monday.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: We will be talking about, I believe for the first time all year, joyously about a win because
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: you beat the bills and you beat them that way.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: You got to be a little excited about the proceedings, but we got a lot of news to cover, but first let me tell you about the title sponsor of this show, which is 305-800-pain better business bureau accredited with a plus rating your car accident personal injury specialists.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's connection with trusted doctors and attorneys always ready to take your call 24-7.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: Again, that's 3-0-5-800-pain 3-0-5-800-pain and there is no pain at least I wasn't feeling any pain on Sunday and of course Thompson cigar if you want to celebrate this victory Why not whether they Thompson cigar they they have the widest selections anywhere on the internet
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: the original mail order business.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody pointed this out to me and they posted a picture of an old box that they found at a construction site and it was from a Thompson cigar factory in Tampa and I looked at the box and I looked it up online and it had some Spanish writing
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: now obviously there's been an embargo on Cuba for almost 70 years so I traced that box to be somewhere between 1920 and 1950 which is kind of cool but user promo code and you get 20 percent off for Christmas three yards per carry is the promo code that's the number three
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's part of what was kind of expected once Chris Greer goes and we talked about this on a previous show.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: Dolphins have a lot of built-in redundant leadership, and it's probably going to have to start clean some of that out.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: I would expect that this is not the end of this.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: What do you make of it?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Simon, and what is this important going forward?
- 2:51[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I've seen a couple people say that firing people in the buildings is 94 or 99 respectively in terms of how that angle might mean that the Dolphins
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: No, I, I, I've got salmon right.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_04]: There you go.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just going to start like that again.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because I didn't hear any of them.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it sounds like you froze, buddy.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I've heard people say that.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_04]: You know, when you fire people have been in the buildings since 1994 and 99 has come the name of have been, especially in the midst of the scouting season that perhaps the team has already made a decision on who its next General Manager will be.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_04]: There's certainly bold moves for General Manager who is a pretty holding the interim tag.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_04]: But also, you know, their co-directors are
- 3:48[SPEAKER_04]: personal, a personal and that's, you know, it's been part of the massive failing of this club so it's not really a surprise and like we consistently say we're not here to cheer lead when people lose their jobs, you know, there's a huge knock-in effect of families and you know, these guys going in the building for a few years, you know, there's a lot of roots and kids will have grown up in Miami and those sorts of things, but unfortunately it's
- 4:18[SPEAKER_04]: really bad.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and yeah, that's kind of where we're at home.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's just me new now.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: Well, uh, uh, uh, we have breaking news on the show right now, which is that, um, Alpha's been dismissed.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_04]: It's been 20 years, but we had to kick him to the curb.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: So, uh,
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that, you know, listen, when you're failing franchise, you got to shake things up, yeah, you know, you know, Alfa, you know, is the unfortunate, you know, the price, they paid the price.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I agree with you that it's not really, it's, you know, it's not kosher for us to celebrate the loss of jobs, especially
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: for so long, but, you know, I think that this is firing this early has got to be considered a little bit of a courtesy, almost, you know, somebody brought up, doesn't mean, I forget who was bringing that up that you're referring to on Twitter that was saying, and it wasn't, oh, okay, well, it's a good thing else, not here, then, to say his name.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think that if you're getting rid of these guys this early in the process, I actually almost think that that's just giving them time to to find their next destination, you know, you're not busying them with the work that you're not, you know, you're not going to have them do anyway next year because I think that they do have in mind a full clean sweep of that
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: of the personnel issues.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, they're probably just doing them the courtesy of saying, hey, go out and start trying to find your team.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry about sending you over to North Dakota State to look at coal-paten, don't know.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that that's what's going on more so than the idea that they already know who the new general manager is going
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: because if they did, if they did already know who the next general manager was gonna be, then I think there's not really only one answer and that's champ Kelly.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think that if champ Kelly were set to inherit the job, then perhaps that theory might hold some water, that's what's going on here.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you think Big Daniel revealed anything by saying that he was in the mood in in the room making decisions along with champ Kelly as far as what they did at the trade deadline Simon and Brandon short and Brandon short, but not more of an hour.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think it's going to start here, and I think.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_04]: We're trying to get to the bottom of the kind of the, whether or not like Dan is going to hear next year, if he's going to be here, you know, look, this team is, yeah, for whatever, we've said about at this point and I know that, you know, certainly there are some in the fan base that want victory's more than the draft picks or in terms of the high-ness of the draft pick, but there is a situation now that faces this way,
- 7:43[SPEAKER_04]: in three weeks time, the dolphins could be six and seven, you know, I mean, we play a beleaguered Washington team.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_04]: I see Duron Payne's had his suspension upheld, so he won't buy it a weekend, obviously.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_04]: Daniels is out and you know that they're Washington they've been hammered in the 40s the last two weeks by the seahawks and then yesterday by the by the lions.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: McLaren will not, will that, will travel but will not play?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well it also play.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_04]: There's a huge opportunity for the dolphins there.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_04]: You know, to get another win on the board and then they play against the saints.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_04]: And against the jets and all of a sudden you could be, you know, going to Akashore to play the state of six and seven and on the outskirts of the wild card inexplicably.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_04]: And then you go back to, you know, the kick return for touchdown against the patriots, the final minute against the the charge final driving against the charges, the the way that we collapsed against Carolina and you know, how different would this season look if, you know, if we don't want those three games that we should have won and then
- 8:44[SPEAKER_04]: We've got these three games come out.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's all together different propositions.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_04]: Chris Greer probably still been his job as without Adam Engroff and Anthony Humm.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: But there's lots would still be here.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_04]: And it finishes still be here.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_04]: So I mean, I don't necessarily ask if this one's social media.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't necessarily see the benefit finishing 7 and 11 or 6 and 12 or whatever it is that I don't see the benefit of it because it helps nobody
- 9:13[SPEAKER_04]: but it's hard not to.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_04]: Chris, I have a message each other yesterday about, you know, over a 60, nothing up and kind of laughing about, I'm like, God, you know, and this is obviously having watched Fernando Ben Dozer and his heroics at the end of the, the Penn State game, the kind of, now all of a sudden you're kind of seeing Arthur Reese potentially sitting at our range and, you know, you know,
- 9:37[SPEAKER_04]: You kind of look at those second even third tier guys when we end up picking 10th or 12th or 14th and I know that doesn't matter to a lot of people and that's actually fine.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_04]: I totally get that.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_04]: And yes, they were fine.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_04]: It was a good win.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_04]: We played really well.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_04]: But I do think there was a possibility down and the fans should be, you know, should be getting ready for it that all of a sudden we could be six and seven with, you know,
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Who the hell knows, but I mean that's it, but I think it's also instructive like if they do go 6 and 7 I think if they do go 6 and 7 and they're staring right down the barrel of some pretty difficult games to so even get to a winning record But if they are 6 and 7 you can go back and look at all the failures of the season and then a sign blank as to why this team was not a wild card team and not
- 10:32[SPEAKER_04]: that that team performed the way it did yesterday, given the whole that it's put itself in.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_04]: And you know, whatever we think about my Daniel, whatever we think about the processes and it was hilarious to, you know, I like Christmas to start at the game and to see that we burn time out, you know, and at a penalty before we even snap the ball.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_04]: It was pretty hilarious.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I would only burn the time out just out of pure anger.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's a bad idea.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: Can I say, can I say, and I don't care what anybody think.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'm immature.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I watched it live and enjoyed the hell out of it.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you guys saw the chargers.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's not only this game, okay?
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not the ACC rafts or the SEC rafts.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's the NFL, also.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you saw that chargers, Steelers game,
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: 4,000 times in that game.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: Terry, why is this not a penalty?
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: And Terry's like, I don't know.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think this should be a penalty.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: They clubbed DK Metcalf and they had a some type of explanation that, well, you know, it was incidental, he was in his back pedal and no, no, you, you in a fear would decim Metcalf, but time immemorial.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's a penalty right there at the spot of the file.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_04]: Very McCordi was on more than Mike Toreco.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: So he spent the whole game.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: He spent the whole game explaining away every single call.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: Look, I got a kick out of it, maybe because I was angry as well, because it's very good to Tony as well.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not, you know, that's to hearing it, but, you know, guys, we have feet up in the, in the studio with a peanut colander on it, all of a sudden, it's got like 600 different hits throughout the game, because this happens.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Mike McDaniel revealed after the game.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was kind of angry.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: So I wanted an explanation.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: So he stopped the game before the game started.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Just so he could give the the the official shit on on a on a motion that well, it should have been encroachment like it should have been first and five, you know, five yard game for for the dolphins via each other.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: Which is something that you can only do if you're two and seven.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: like this is not if you're seven and two and you're looking at you know a really important game and you might need those timeouts later on as I mean there was a situation where they could have used a timeout you know later on so you know yeah you just can't you can't burn your timeouts all well ideally I to your point Simon about about them possibly going six and seven
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: It seems okay.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: They've had seven bad days at the office.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: They've had three good ones, right.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: And it seems like it seems like every time every one of those three good days at the office, you know, we just were we're very expectant at that point, you know, okay, well, they're going to stack up some wins now.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: And, and then they go and blow it against a truly terrible Cleveland Brown steep, you know, like things things like that.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: The caution that I would have here is that not only are they still the team that lost those seven games, but also a number of the games come in exactly the type of situations that Mike McDaniel has had a really hard time getting his team up to play for.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and that starts next week in Madrid, uh, we're talking about any any special situation.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you could tell you it up.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: All the games that Mike McDonald has played or has coached, sorry, um, you know, either off schedule sort of, you know, nighttime game, west coast trip, international playoff, uh,
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: 2030, 40 degree weather, any kind of adverse conditions whatsoever, and there's something like six and 18 over the over the four years in those, and any of those special conditions.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: That includes, you know, big flights over to international or to the West Coast and playing at odd times, they're playing in the morning, they're playing in what it's seven in the morning,
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: He has not been good at getting his team up to play in anything except like 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. games in on Sundays in the NFL and and so that, you know, they've got three of those remaining on the schedule including next week against the Washington commanders who, you know, I think the the wisdom would be after watching the dolphins just paste the bills as they did.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: Last week, and then Washington looking at where the commanders are right now, you'd say dolphin's easy.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: This is, these are teams going in different directions, but that, you know, that, that is the wildcard.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to have to go to an international game in Madrid, you know, big flight jet lag and all that.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: And, and get their team up to play and historically speaking, Mike McDaniel has hard, hard at that.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: at exactly that kind of thing.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I hate to rain on anybody's parade if we're thinking, you know, all of a sudden we get this big wind against the bills and it's like, oh yeah, we're gonna rattle off the next street.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's easy.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: Commanders, saints, you know, jets, or all bad teams.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't think it works like that this year for the Miami Dolphins.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: If it worked like that any year,
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: play badly in in those sort of special circumstances.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, there is some news as far as one of those special circumstances.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: They do play the Cincinnati Bengals later on in the season and Sunday night football at home.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's in Miami.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: Barry Jackson has revealed that the NFL is eyeballing that game.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: And if both teams are outside of
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: the in the hunt graphic which is I'm telling if the dolphins get into the in the hunt graphic that thing's going to hit better than a super ball almost like we should have a celebration if they get into that in the hunt graphic.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: But if both of them are not, not me, not me, my friend, not me.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: I will, I might stop watching from that point on.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: If they're both out of the, in the hunt graphic, that thing will go to one o'clock, 1 p.m. game, but if they're both in, yeah, that's going to stay at a Sunday night football game, and it looks like Joe Burrow will be back for that game.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: So that should be that does look like, yeah.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: that'll be a lot of fun, which is like that's the fun part about six and seven is because you get to judge them against teams that they're not better than, because look, Cincinnati's defense is horrid, but that offense is a machine and then when they get burrow back, that's things going to be insane to defend.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's score like a hundred points again, because the defense is so bad.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, but still it's man, that's a lot.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: facing that offense.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be difficult.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: And Pittsburgh on the road is going to be difficult New England's really, really good.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: You got to play them on the road.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: So it's an impossible task really down the stretch for my amics.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to get to really judge this team and completely, really.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about the Tampa game as well.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Tampa game.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's and it's here.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: Although Tampa is walking wounded like they're
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's what December 28th.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: So let's Yeah, they might be healthy by then.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they might be healthy by then.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about some of the players.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then in the second half of the show, we'll finish up this first half right here.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: But in the second half of the show, we'll talk about the actual game and what they did and a little bit about the Buffalo Bills.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: because maybe this, this game was more meaningful than just a 217 getting their third one.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: But younger players in this game kind of showed up and you know, I already said, look, man, Greg Dulsech last week made more plays in his first six snaps than Tana Connor has made here in three years.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think Greg Dalschitz is what he's twin.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: He just turned 26 years old.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: I believe he's probably a roster player for next season.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: And duty grants.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: He was pretty good in in in in Apple says as a special teamer and and dime corner.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Man, he was fabulous yesterday.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: Also a young player.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Dolphins are better start getting used to, especially for next season in possibly 2027, unless they're gonna go binge spending again.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: To find some of these younger players, I did go fill out the bottom of the roster.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, to ain't bad, what are your thoughts on the young players in yesterday's game?
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Of which, I think that I saw the stat, they had 15 play more than 15 snaps, yesterday, under 26 years old.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, which was a lot.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_04]: on Thursday's show really about the the poor job that they've done churning the bottom of the roster.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_04]: That's how good teams, you know, just do a better job of it than we do, but I thought Brents was excellent.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_04]: I think he was slightly miscast in that system in Indianapolis, you know, you go back to his as a state tape and he was excellent.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_04]: I thought he was an
- 20:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he was absolutely a lockdown.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, two catches, 12 yards, five targets, one PBU, one couple recovery, and he's shut down.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't think Keon Kong is a great player, by any stretch of the imagination.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_04]: But he didn't have any safety help over the top, and he did a really good job.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_04]: I think partly indictment, when the, you know, the washup comes at the end of the season in terms of looking at what happened.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_04]: is persisting with people like Tana Conner where Hayden Ruchi is clearly, you know, when you're looking for a guy who can block, Hayden Ruchi's done a good job of blocking and actually looked more like an NFL player in terms of his ability to move and take on, you know, the touchdown on the HN had the first one.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_04]: Ruchi slips over, manages to get himself back on his feet and then has the key kind of cut off block to allow any chance to get to the second level.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, I think in weeks, months, years past, we would have seen, you know, I see steps on his own dick, falls over crashes into it all of a sudden, who then makes a tackle for Yarsby Analinas group, he's an Oxford Bull out, and it hits a channel in the leg, bounces off to his head and goes back into the end zone, it's recovered for touched on my current zone.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_04]: That's the sort of sort of thing that wouldn't happen to us, but actually it just feels like the, you know, they found that, you know,
- 21:51[SPEAKER_04]: a combination and I think that works, does it, you know, does it stand a really nice job with the ball in his hands?
- 21:56[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think that was ever the problem when he was at UCLA.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_04]: It wasn't a problem early on and Denver wasn't a problem.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_04]: I think the issue for him has been injuries, but if you can keep him healthy, then, you know, he looks like you say like a roster of all player and a guy who, you know, I mean, look watching the watch in that game, how I watch the Rams,
- 22:14[SPEAKER_04]: and the 49ers and you know the Rams are getting use out three tight ends at all of them at contributing touchdowns and catches and no sorts of things.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what you want the dolphins to go to do.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_04]: And you want to be able to go two and three deep and just see guys, you know, doze it, having two for 36, root cheer and a catch and a load of key blocks, wallet or whatever it is having five catches and you know, because that's what other good teams do it.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, I just think it's good that we finally got to that point, but you kind of think we've had months and months to kind of get here.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_04]: Why is it take us so long to find a guy that can do what you've been crying out to do, which is, you know, be an active motion block or somebody that can, you know.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_04]: Some of it can motion back into the line and take on a, you know, a five technique and take on a, you know, an edge guy and do this sort of thing.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I thought the young and the nice pay well, a melliform, you know, had the, the key pick and there was, you know, he got even jack Jones has been an absolute country bag on the show, you know, he came up with a few big places.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_04]: So it hats off to them.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_04]: I think they, you know, they did they in.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_04]: They did a really good job, and everybody seemed to play their part well, that was spectacular.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we never talked about special teams, but, you know, the punters have an unbelievable season.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_04]: And they absolutely nailed one of the three yard line.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_04]: They were doing 60 hours left, I think.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, Jake Brady had a great day.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, I mean,
- 23:36[SPEAKER_04]: It just makes you kind of go back and think, but where was this Thursday night against Baltimore?
- 23:41[SPEAKER_04]: What, why can we be so good against Buffalo?
- 23:43[SPEAKER_04]: And yet so bad, the week earlier, and it's kind of confounding, and I think maybe it might, my Daniel does a loose job at it, but because of that reason, as much as anything, that kind of wobbling and consistency crisp that has just sort of plagues.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that inconsistencies exactly the point is,
- 24:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's why, again, the caution about these next three weeks against three, you know, seems like bad opponents.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: You know, until they, until they show that they can achieve consistency, then we got to act very skeptical of the results over that stretch, particularly, you know, going international, playing in Madrid and having your team, you know, actually energetic.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: um, in a setting like that, which uh, which isn't always the case with any team let alone the dolphins over the last, uh, the last four years.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so, you know, but account me kind of, you know, not, not quite bought in on a, uh, on adults, it's, you know, kind of development.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I am,
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: multiple times more bought in on a jujube rinse and what he showed in that game just up and down forward back every single snap in that game it was actually you know it was it was it was a revelation it did come mostly against key on Coleman I think and that is an interesting matchup between the
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: kind of size speed profiles, you know, what type of player they are.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a caution to my optimism about Juju Brence because of that, because of the specific type of matchup it was, and he's not going to see exactly that type of player every week.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: Um, then again, we'll even play every week because Result Douglas is going to come back.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: And as you said, uh, for as much as we've, uh, punched down on Jack Jones, uh, in various weeks.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's the epitome of up and down, you know, of the up and down player.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: Um, the roller coasters type of player and he had an up in the last week this week.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: He, you know, he punched the ball out.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think multiple times and that game.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that's so what's going to happen next week.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to you're going to get result Douglas back.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: And they're going to still want to start Jack Jones because they've been pretty committed to there.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: wrapped up that that experiment, the rotation experiment, and just went with him.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's usually your friends actually going to play.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know the answer to that question yet.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure that they are going to want to see him some more, but I am a little bit cautiously bought in on that development, on that particular young player.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I would, you know, Greg Delsich, you're, I think we're missing, I think we're missing the more significant development at that position, which is Daniel Brunskill taking the, taking the, this Naps of Titan and what that has to, uh, to the offense all the way around and particularly in the run game.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: uh... from a coaching standpoint that you would ask the question why weren't we even why would you never even think about this in the previous three years let alone you know the previous two months prior to uh... to them actually experimenting with that you know i think it is it does leave you with those sorts of questions so you know yeah they it worked well real it worked really well again
- 27:45[SPEAKER_02]: in this particular game.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: It had an impact.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that that's going to be a formula going on forward.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: And so many young players played that we still got to talk about a few more.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: The actual rookies that got drafted this past year.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: Zeke Bigger's played 19 snaps.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: I went over the the tape Kenneth Grant had a couple of run stops a couple of impressive
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: Jonas Avaina, good counting stacks, no sacks, four pressures, had a couple of key blocks, nothing to write home about.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_01]: But I will talk about one guy.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Phillips, this is maybe his best game, or I'm going to go ahead and say it's the best game any of the rookies has played this year.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: He was stout.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: in the run game.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: And he was going up against a very good interior offensive line of buffaloes.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: And man, he looks like a guy that should be here for a very long time.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: And kind of the headliner, I think so far out of this rookie class.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: What did you make of the rookies, the actual drafties, Simon, that played yesterday?
- 28:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it starts pouring around.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_04]: There's interior defense that you know, look, it always takes time and would be critical, right?
- 29:01[SPEAKER_04]: So, you kind of want to see them hold their ground at least, rather than getting, you know, railroaded six, seven, eight yards of the landscape experience.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_04]: But it was always hard for lips coming out.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_04]: And I thought he would be a start.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't love the Kenneth Grant peak, but I love the Philippic and I thought he, you know, just he's just going to get so much better
- 29:18[SPEAKER_04]: better as you get strong and strong enough as it is, but now you see them holding up, you know, two guys, double team, letting, you know, I hope Jordan Brooks was outstanding yesterday, and everybody's talking about, well, they just couldn't contain Brooks, and I think a lot of it was because of the way that Phillips was playing, just, you know, soaking up doubles and just allowing people behind it to make plays Chris.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think, I think we've
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think we've got it as far as how the young players played.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: Jason Marshall played a little bit more.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that was a bit more up and down.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: To be honest, there was one play he made.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that was kind of a bad throw.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, he did make the play.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: But otherwise, not in not in great position.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: But I think I noticed that I noticed the bigger's out there.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: He is a gigantic defensive line and he looked like it.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think Jordan Phillips at this point, it's okay to say that he's the best rookie on the team so far this year.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm not even sure that frankly I'm not even sure that it's been close, you know, between between the the rookies and that's bit damning of the the top picks.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, then again, it's early.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's about halfway through the first season.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I know I agree with you.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: He did he did play well.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Dante trader played.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: another pretty good game overall.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to run into those situations though, like last week against Zafel ours where he just doesn't have, you know, he doesn't have the speed, the athleticism to keep up with somebody, you know, running running all across the field like that.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_02]: But but he in this game, he was not exposed for anything like that.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: He just had a solid game overall.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go to break.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: And when we come back, we will talk about the game almost exclusively a couple of things toward the end of the show.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: But first these words.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: And we're back.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: My name is 30 Bill 13.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's the headline further headlines are if you take a stroll through Buffalo bills Twitter or just the Buffalo bills to beat.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: They're talking about firing.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're talking about wholesale changes.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: They're talking about Joe Brady is a terrible offensive coordinator.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: They're one and a half back from New England.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: New England plays a series of bums of which we are one of them by the way, because we play them the last game of the season.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: That game might not mean anything to us.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: So we could be a tough out against New England, because traditionally we've played them pretty tight, and we played them tight earlier in the season, but that game might not be anything to us, so they might have smooth sailing with one game against the bills left.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: While the bills, if you've looked at their schedule, it is murderous down the stretch.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: They're nervous.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: What do you make of it?
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: I go to you first, Simon, what do you make of this?
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: Is it maybe over for this incarnation of the Buffalo Bills?
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I mean, the thing that I think is the most,
- 32:37[SPEAKER_04]: You wouldn't want to meet them in the playoffs, that's for sure.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: I think the thing that is the most that stood out for me, most of all, and it's kind of stood out for a season, but it was really clear, so it was that the dolphins, the way they played it, there was just no either could threaten over the top, that they don't have anything to stretch the field.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_04]: So the dolphins played the kind of cloud coverage, well, just knew they weren't going to get beaten over the top, and you could just force everything down inside into that area.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_04]: And even when Josh was, you know,
- 33:04[SPEAKER_04]: You could see they were trying to load up deep shots and they just didn't have the horses to get over the top because they've got no threat You know to take the top off the defense and push those safety's back and then like you know the reason James Cook wasn't able to run was because everything's happening within sort of 20 yards of the line of stretch I think that's the beast indictment.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_04]: I think that will cost but then look look what they did the week before two weeks before you know they beat the the the team that's been in
- 33:33[SPEAKER_04]: eight or nine of the last nine AMC championships in the in the chiefs and and it you know it wasn't as close as the school suggested so well that's a tradition for the bubble of both the absolute right I mean like I said I don't need to face them in the playoffs, but
- 33:52[SPEAKER_04]: is the window closing.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think it closes until Josh Allen retires, quite frankly, when he got caught back, that ain't good, it's hard for a window to shock to him, but I don't think it looks.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_04]: I, you know, looked down at me, could go and, you know, draft a pile of actually speedsters in the, you know, in the first two rounds in the draft and come away with, you know, a couple of guys that can run the, you know, ten five, or whatever in terms of the hundred meters, you know, they get away with a, I don't know.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_04]: Chris Brazzle or Denzel Boston or you know guys like that could really you know can really fly and all of a sudden it's a you know it's a different as a different matter all together so yeah Chris I kind of You wouldn't want to rule them out, but you also kind of might be struggling to rule them in if that makes sense.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm a little bit torn here because right away when the dolphins face them in week three for as bad as the dolphins have been this year they didn't the bills did not look on a sailable and that came right and and week three, you know, yes.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_02]: we were racing to the bottom to try and lose the game at the end.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, I think that they were beatable in that game.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: And so here we are, and we get the rematch and not just not only are they beatable, we beat them pretty sadly, I think.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, there is, there definitely is software team this year.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: Then they have been in the past.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: is the window closing?
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: No, absolutely.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see that.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: They may have, they may make coaching changes.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Miami Dolphins, there have been times in our franchise history where we are ready to fire coaches, you know, after 10 and 6 seasons and stuff like that.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like we, because we're just, you know, it's all about your expectations.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: If your expectations are that, that you're playing for Super Bulls, because you should be that good.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: then you get fired because you don't meet that, so I think, no, I don't think, well, while John Allen is there, certainly the window is not closing.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think you bring up an excellent point about their makeup with the the wide receivers and the inability to make plays deep down the field, but also, I mean, I hate to say it, but there was a lot of earmarks in this game.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: that that looked like classic trap performances and let down performances and sort of we messed around a little bit too much too early and then couldn't get control of it when we decided to finally lock it down.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know and the dolphins have been in those those games before plenty.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what it looked like to me from the bill standpoint.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: When you look at the fumbles that they had, you look at the interception that he threw to that Josh Allen threw to Melafon, where we just threw it straight to him.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it was pretty, I mean, there was a little bit, I mean, there were even some playcalls that you'd really have to question some short yarders playcalls and things like that.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: It just looked like,
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: Two cute, you know, that I think in the half time Sean McDermott said something like we're not playing Buffalo bills football and.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I think, you know, oddly that didn't just sound like some sort of rhetorical thing, like, you know, actually that, that is, that is how they were, that is how they were performing in that game or at least how they were not performing in that game.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I think that there's this is a team that is.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_02]: our own to losing focus, the Buffalo Bill's team this year.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: And that's where we see it against this, you know, I thought it was happening in week three that they were losing focus against us.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's just that at that time, we were,
- 37:54[SPEAKER_02]: probably, you know, considerably worse even than we are right now.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so I think that that's, you know, that's, that's their, that's their cross to bear this year is if they can, um, they can really lock it down their focus.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and maintain consistency instead of just kind of letting up off the gas, um, you know, periodically.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a couple of things that come in out of this game, as far as stats, I saw a graphic that they had, the nine worst run defense performances of this season, four belong to the Dallas Cowboys defense, two belong to the Dolphins, but three belong to the Buffalo Bills, it's just three teams that are responsible for the nine worst run defense performances, another stack and and it's how you can't do this, okay, but for shits and giggles and this one's from cow crabs.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: Dolphins defense is ranked in EPA per play twelfth in the NFL if you take away the first two games of the season Because the first two games are two of the worst performances of the entire season remember that They had to lead and they lost they lost by a kick off a kick off return to the the Patriots But go back to that game
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: they could not get off the field for three quarters until they finally did in the fourth quarter against the Patriots' offense.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: So, but that's actually really instructive health, like they started off the defense, started off.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, there is a lot of turnover on this team.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: I know people talk about that, but I mean, it's a real thing.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's a different team.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's a different unit all together.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's a different defense.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_02]: There was no no defense in the NFL had as much turnover as the Miami dolphins.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: heading into the beginning of that in the year.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: And so this is why I kept saying and saying it all long.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_02]: This reminds me a lot of 2019.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: This defense is going to look absolutely atrocious at the beginning.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to get better and better and it's going to be you could draw a straight line.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: And that is exactly what's happened with the defense.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_02]: is they were atrocious, and then they were slightly less atrocious and then slightly less atrocious, almost mediocre.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, you know, that's where they are at right now.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_02]: You know, with the showing that they had against a really good offense in Josh Allen, a really good quarterback.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: this week.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think that the you can draw straight line with the defense.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think the issue is that the offense is not a straight line.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_02]: It is a which which offense shows up thing that keeps happening with the Miami Dolphins under Mike McDaniel.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_02]: And it has always been that way if you think about it since 2022.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's not just they're getting better and better as the season goes on, which you could always say, classically about like those Bill Belicec defenses, or those Tom Brady offenses, they, you know, you could track their EPA and other high test analytics.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_02]: that they get better and better as the year goes on.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't the dolphins' offences and like that.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_02]: It is totally, you know, schizophrenia who shows up today.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's a multiple personality thing, who shows up today.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: The boys that showed up on offence this week really showed up, you know, against Atlanta, they really showed up.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_02]: Cleveland in between,
- 41:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think that's that's that's the way it is on offense.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_02]: And so if you're making the case for coaching staffs that should be kept on next year, I'm looking at the defense before I look at the offense.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: Simon watching some of the veterans yesterday, Jordan Brooks.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely brilliant.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: But one guy who I thought played his best game of the season, and he's everywhere, and in the all 22, he is just plastered in coverage against their tight ends.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_01]: Mink of Fitzpatrick was absolutely fabulous yesterday.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't mind, Mink of Fitzpatrick being part of the solution.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: You need that vet to actually take younger guys under the wing and under his wing.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I wouldn't like, you know,
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: a bunch of 23 year olds in the secondary next season.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: You kind of want an old head out there, you know, probably one in each room, one in the corner back room, one in the safety room.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think make this Patrick is probably a guide that should be here a little longer than we originally expected.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about that Simon?
- 42:45[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think, you know, he's become, you know, since he moved to the nickel, I think he's been excellent.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_04]: And I agree, you need an old hairdryer and if he's going to play the same level next year and he plays that position and we can bring in younger safeties and we can get younger and better on the outside than Chris Warren.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_04]: I mean he makes more fluorescence.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you'd have 15.6 million reasons, not to.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there is, there is, there is that.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what I think that we still have to keep in mind when we're talking about make a Fitzpatrick.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: Because first off, before he moved to the slot, was were we talking about make a Fitzpatrick in positive voice?
- 43:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, we weren't.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: where we're talking about make a Fitzpatrick who we paid you know we paid as much money to move on from jail and Ramsey to move in to make a Fitzpatrick this year in terms of cash on the barrel head we paid about as much money as we would have just to keep jail and Ramsey right you know it was it was that much money would we have talked about make a Fitzpatrick
- 43:50[SPEAKER_02]: in any sort of positive light whatsoever if he had not moved to slot out of desperation mind you because Katerko who went down basically everybody a slot just kept going down over and over again and whether it's Katerko who even his backups and then Jason Marshall going started there was a throw it was not really that good and went down with injury.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_02]: you know, and then they brought in courtroom brought back corn or alarm strong to try and take it down and he was just a trotius, uh, you know, and until make a went to that slot position wouldn't have been talking about him and any kind of positive light and certainly not positive relative to 24 million dollars or or 20 million dollars or whatever it was that that we would have just.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_02]: you know, paid just to keep Jalen Ramsey on.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: So next year, Caterco, who presumably may come back, right?
- 44:47[SPEAKER_02]: And so what's happening now, we've lost Alfa again, I think he just hates us, but let's just try this show up and let's go with money now.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think I think the next year, that's exactly the question of that.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, we're going to play 16 million dollars to move back to a safety position.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_02]: He was entirely lackluster.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_02]: in playing for the dolphins early in on.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_02]: And so we're not getting the formula that's making us say, wow, look how good makeup's playing this this week in and out.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that no, you do not, you do not pay makeup if it's Patrick's $16 million to do for the defense next year, what he is doing for them in the positive ways this year as a slot forner.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't see it.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_04]: So you just move ahead to our players of the game and then get your knowledge going.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think that on offense, I mean, just look at what Devon, not just because I have him on my fantasy team and he just absolutely, you know, blew things out and ensured my victory.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_02]: Um, no, I think Devon Ajan had had one hell of a game.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and that, that I think, uh, front to back.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_02]: you got to give that to him and all the way around.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't even know if I need to give a defensive player.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: But if I did, I would say, Juju Breds just because that's a hell of a day debut.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_04]: Hard to argue.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_04]: I can see that I was, I would say, just like an unsound line.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_04]: I did think Brooks had an outstanding game.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_04]: So I would turn him in there as offensively, how to look at him.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_04]: He did.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_04]: hard to look past HM for what he did, you know, the way he just Hoovered up the yards and that was it.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_04]: So I got 2204 total yards, I think so.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, after you're your players of the game, we got out of here.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, on offense, it's obviously the two young guys who I think are the solution going forward.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_01]: General Water, he's having a very, very good season.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's performing every single game ever since Tyre went down, except that game in Cleveland.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: But who was good in that game in Cleveland?
- 47:01[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: So other than that, General Water has been great.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: So it's my two young guys, General Water and Devon HN on offense.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: on defense, I'm going to give this guy his flowers, 10, 10 pressures, a sack, he was a menace yesterday, Bradley Chubb was absolutely fabulous to the point where I'm talking myself into a Matt Judon type contract next year for him, if he wants to take it, what you want.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: But he was noticeable, he was a menace yesterday on defense and a big reason why they
- 47:39[SPEAKER_01]: on slow motion, I guess, you know, he kind of rubbed his nuts on a hot silence head.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: And the referee looked at it and said, yeah, that's 15 yards.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: Consequential penalty because you go from third and what it was going to be, third and 18 to 1st and 10 at the 18 yard, are you lost?
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: all the sack yardage plus you gave them 15 yards, they scored a touchdown on the next player.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_01]: So pretty big penalty.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that, that was absolutely fabulous.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: So those are my three, my three players of the game.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: The two young guys, Bradley Jabondi, friends.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_04]: Take a second.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_04]: Let's go.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_04]: 20, not full.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: And that's going to be a great one.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: Jale Phillips, debut.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm caught.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, let's do that.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I knew I wanted to say
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: his debut.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to call it two stacks one TFL tonight's Jalen Phillips.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Simon give me a headline for Jalen Phillips debut tonight.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: You could just say you'll be you'll be wallpaper, you know, he won't be noticeable, but hit it.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think you get blanked off the score sheet only because I promised to Eagles fans at the office, you know, they're asking me jail and Phillips.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_02]: We just traded for your guy.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: Well, like tell me tell me about him and I'm like well,
- 49:03[SPEAKER_02]: He was playing really well over the last month, so I think you're going to be happy with them this year.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what you're going to do with the next year, but sign him and blah, blah, whatever.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: But you're going to be really happy with them this year.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to love him because I said that he will have a zero on the score sheet.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: Zero.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to play well.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's wearing number 50 and who's number 15 on the on
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: on the Eagles, because he's wore 15 his entire career.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm telling you, I was not going to be used.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_02]: Who's not going to be number 15 on the Dolphins?
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's Fernando Mendoza.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's not happening.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that Heisman is, I don't think that the Heisman is completely crazy.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at, if you, I don't think it's done.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at and let's finish that.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: No, not done.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at Simpson's schedule, if Ty Simpson runs through that schedule,
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's gonna be a gauntlet that I don't remember the last time I quarterback ran that gauntlet of ranked teams and top teams and playoff teams.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I think Ty Simpson with the guy has one interception, 20 touchdowns.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think that Simpson can win the Heisman over for nine domindosa.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: Your thoughts, Simon, and we'll finish up there.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's four or five guys.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_04]: Mendoza, obviously, I think Julian's saying a high state who's, you know, they were the National Championship, I mean, he's playing, I mean.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_04]: You know, they're not in any body in the country, I mean, you know, they're not in no the number one in the country, they're never trod in the second half.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_04]: He started in 181 passes without a pick, I mean, he's three straight games in three hundred yards past eight, eight cent accuracy in those last three games.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, he's thrown to the guys he's thrown to a bit nevertheless.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_04]: I think Diego Parvier, a Vanderbilt, nobody carries their team more than Parvier does like, you know, you know,
- 50:53[SPEAKER_04]: and Vanderbilt or a great kind of great story.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_04]: And I think the kid, I mean, he's never going to win because his linebacker, but the kid at Texas Tech, Jacob Rodriguez, is having just the most unbelievable season.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he's a nation in four swambles, he's a seven four swambles, he had a pick six, against Oklahoma State, he had a pick against BYU, he's got three picks this season, he's got like, he's tired.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_04]: eighth in the nation for total tackles.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he's been unbelievable the shift then some of a blackjack dealer is wife is a U.S. Army by a kind of blind like.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_04]: This guy, this guy, if there's any, if there's any, if there's any, if there's any, if there's there's the least is up in New York's, the ceremony, it's it.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: Son of a black deck, there's a line.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: Whip that one out.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_04]: You just pull that one out there like you're talking in the, it's so I've already done a line back off whole line back as in the draft book and he was a quarterback in high school.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_04]: loves playing chess and he's a son of a blackjack dealer.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_02]: No, this guy, this guy is the son of a horse trader.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_02]: He's great.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a...
- 52:04[SPEAKER_04]: So that's the deep sea fish you've heard.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, you want to add anything to this?
- 52:09[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think that the one thing that I will add to it, you know, because I'm a bit of a mendoza fan, you know, is that just
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: It depends like Simon you can confirm this for me they're going to they're going to go through they're going to go through the playoffs before like when do they decide that it's been like how far how far into and to that situation will be because I have a hard time imagining that if Indiana.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if Indiana and I think it's right before the first playoff game, they do the high It's been so what it done in December, isn't it?
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so you're gonna see him and he's good.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Indiana's gonna have a buy so you're not going to see him and does a play football Yeah, when they vote for the high school
- 52:55[SPEAKER_02]: No, but I mean like if they come in if they come in at top seat and what and you would think that it's going to be Ohio State Ohio State right, but if they come in if Indiana comes in at top seat
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: unbeaten and let's say Ohio State Stumbles somewhere along the way.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_02]: Then I think, I just think that the historical nature of Indiana's run is going to really work in favor of Mendoza.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_02]: But that's a very big if.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's a very big if.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I understand that.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Indiana has got her due in Wisconsin, both unranked, Ohio State,
- 53:34[SPEAKER_04]: to play.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_01]: That Michigan game is always tricky.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's that's a classic.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's a classic.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, if you see all the things, if they stumble, then Indiana walks in as like the number one seed, the number one team in the country heading into the playoffs with a buy in the playoffs.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_02]: And so I just think like there's such a historic nature that there might be a lot of backing for, you know, their number one guy there, their quarterback.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right, and we'll end it there.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be it's going to be a fun finish to the college football season.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's a fact.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: I saw those there's college football playoff ratings and I think we're one off season away from a from a super league.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that's happening because there are 11.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: You heard that correctly.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: There's only 12 teams are going to make the playoffs 12.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_01]: There are 11 SEC teams with odds higher than the entire ACC except for one and that will be the ACC champion and that's because that's a send one in so we're headed for a super league like that's a fact.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're going to end it right there on Thursday we will talk Madrid.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_01]: Dolphins commanders.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: Marcus Marriota Tootonga Valor, two Hawaiians.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be a Simon Clarity Simon Clarity in Madrid.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: He will be there That's gonna be pretty cool.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: You get to ask Mike McDaniel a question again.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not flying it until Saturday So I won't be at the free game press.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_04]: But I will be there afterwards.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_04]: So hopefully they win so I can ask something Steve here.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, by the way, how can I not mention it?
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm back in on Mike McDaniel for him trolling the bills fans that the other room alone and by the way It is now confirmed that it was because there's a video unless these unless there's like AI experts all over the internet now creating video We're wrapping this part again 15 minutes ago.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I keep talking about things
- 55:36[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Mike McVamil, trolling the Bill's fans loved it.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we'll talk about this game coming up on Thursday, but till then.
