- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host, Clay and with me like
- 0:28Speaker 2: always is of course, Katie, Katie.
- 0:32Speaker 3: I think this is the second.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Time in a row where we have somehow coordinated with
- 0:40Speaker 2: shirt aesthetics and I don't know how we be doing this,
- 0:45Speaker 2: but I am totally down for it. But guys, this
- 0:50Speaker 2: is going to be a pretty long night for us
- 0:54Speaker 2: because we are pulling double duty on recording.
- 0:58Speaker 3: There is a special prize for those of you who are.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Subscribed to our patreon over at geek Ultimate Alliance be
- 1:08Speaker 2: on the lookout on Friday. But we are sharing something
- 1:13Speaker 2: a little special there and I'm really excited to talk
- 1:15Speaker 2: about it. But before that, before we jump off of
- 1:21Speaker 2: here and go talk about that, we have a whole
- 1:24Speaker 2: show here. We have, of course some of the or
- 1:28Speaker 2: not some all or yes some because we did say
- 1:31Speaker 2: we're gonna skip one or two things from San Diego
- 1:33Speaker 2: Comic Con that came out and about I have an
- 1:38Speaker 2: update from Tom himself.
- 1:41Speaker 3: I did say I was gonna share that.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Once he answered me, because we did do a review
- 1:47Speaker 2: of Sanctuary recently. And then of course we got some
- 1:52Speaker 2: random tidbits of news and stories and rumors, which is
- 1:56Speaker 2: if you guys see the title of the video, and
- 2:00Speaker 2: of course on all your podcast feeds, is Star Wars
- 2:05Speaker 2: too cool for stars? We will elaborate a little bit
- 2:10Speaker 2: on that. It's a conversation the gua is always having,
- 2:14Speaker 2: which I think is hilarious. But I am glad to
- 2:18Speaker 2: bring it up again because I am four stars in
- 2:24Speaker 2: Star Wars.
- 2:26Speaker 3: But Katie, where do you want to go first?
- 2:30Speaker 4: All right, guys, so let's knock some quick things out
- 2:35Speaker 4: of the record here. So I'm gonna share my screen.
- 2:41Speaker 4: I want to share a window. I want to share
- 2:44Speaker 4: a window. Here's my window. Okay, sorry, because we have
- 2:48Speaker 4: like covers and things, so this first one right here,
- 2:53Speaker 4: and sorry guys, this is my vertical monitor, so it's
- 2:56Speaker 4: not as clear, but you know, so me.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Even though these were coming guys. But Random House World
- 3:04Speaker 5: has released new covers.
- 3:07Speaker 4: For a trade paperback and did confirm that version of
- 3:12Speaker 4: the original trilogy movie novelizations. So you've got a New
- 3:17Speaker 4: Hope by George Lucas, The Empire Strikes Back by Donald F.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Galutt, and Return of the Jedi by James Kahn, and
- 3:25Speaker 5: these cover arts are done by Devin Chauffeur.
- 3:30Speaker 4: I want to say, so, uh these are available, Now,
- 3:36Speaker 4: what do you think about these?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Clay These look so cool.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I like the almost art deco uh art pop uh
- 3:48Speaker 2: look yeah these Now, I don't know if it's exactly
- 3:53Speaker 2: the just shading of this person's uh picture or camera,
- 4:00Speaker 2: because that is clearly like somebody's couch in.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Their living room or something.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if like the cepia color is
- 4:08Speaker 2: really gonna be true like that almost like eggshell white.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I would feel like it's white.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I think it might be like just pure white. But
- 4:18Speaker 2: I love the purple on Return of the Jedi, the Oranges,
- 4:24Speaker 2: redge on the Empire strikes Back.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Look, it really pops that. I really like it. I've
- 4:28Speaker 3: never read.
- 4:29Speaker 5: These, so I actually haven't either.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I am going to look into picking these up. But
- 4:39Speaker 2: so a little storytime here, guys. We will be reviewing
- 4:44Speaker 2: Crystal Crown eventually. We're not going to do it today.
- 4:49Speaker 2: We did not get the arc.
- 4:52Speaker 5: For it, yes, but I do have my copy.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I have my copy as well. But it was absolutely
- 4:58Speaker 2: terrifying because I texted you. I texted you, I said
- 5:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna go I'm gonna go grab it right now.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I went to my local Barnes and Noble, which is
- 5:06Speaker 2: literally a hop, skip and a jump away from my house,
- 5:11Speaker 2: and I was like, hey, there's this new book. And
- 5:15Speaker 2: I went to the Star Wars section. It's not there.
- 5:17Speaker 2: It's a new book, so it's probably displayed somewhere. Wasn't
- 5:20Speaker 2: displayed anywhere. So I went to the desk and I
- 5:24Speaker 2: was like, Hey, this new book, can you show me
- 5:27Speaker 2: where it is.
- 5:28Speaker 3: It's new, so I'm sure you guys have it in stock.
- 5:31Speaker 2: And they're like, yeah, they only gave us one copy.
- 5:39Speaker 3: So I was like what.
- 5:42Speaker 2: They're like, yeah, they only gave us one copy and
- 5:44Speaker 2: we've sold it already. I was like, okay, all the
- 5:47Speaker 2: way across town it's another location. Can you please check
- 5:51Speaker 2: if it's at that location?
- 5:53Speaker 5: And so they yeah, like call in like reserve and advance.
- 5:57Speaker 2: And so they're like, oh, hey, look, there's only one
- 6:01Speaker 2: copy there.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Let's reserve it for you.
- 6:05Speaker 2: So I don't know what is going on with this
- 6:12Speaker 2: book in particular, but there's.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Not a whole lot out there. Apparently.
- 6:19Speaker 4: My best guess is because this is the first time
- 6:24Speaker 4: Random House Kids is publishing Star Wars books, so they're
- 6:29Speaker 4: trying to get their feet under them and everything.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That's probably true, so as as somebody who is like
- 6:37Speaker 2: working also like adjacent with retailers, A lot of retailers
- 6:44Speaker 2: will not just go all.
- 6:45Speaker 3: In on a new publication. Yeah, so I get that.
- 6:50Speaker 3: I understand that.
- 6:51Speaker 2: So yeah, I understand, But it was just like it
- 6:56Speaker 2: was a little bit nerve wracking because I was like, yeah,
- 6:59Speaker 2: I know, as as soon as I finish the book
- 7:01Speaker 2: that we need to read for this Patreon thing little
- 7:05Speaker 2: teaser there, guys, that I would need to jump on
- 7:10Speaker 2: this because we need to review it for the show.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And so I was like, oh no, Like what am
- 7:15Speaker 3: I gonna do?
- 7:16Speaker 2: Like I was worried that I was gonna have to
- 7:18Speaker 2: go to the local book shop, which I'm totally fine
- 7:22Speaker 2: with going to, but I know it takes a little bit.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Longer for those books to come in if I order it.
- 7:28Speaker 2: So I was like, oh god, oh God, I got
- 7:31Speaker 2: and so and guys, after like reading seventeen freaking digital books,
- 7:39Speaker 2: my eyes.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Are straining, Guys.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I need physical books to get my eyesight back. So
- 7:48Speaker 2: I'm gonna try to not read so much digital for
- 7:53Speaker 2: at least like a month or two, just to kind
- 7:56Speaker 2: of get back into the groove of reading physical books
- 7:59Speaker 2: and also not having my eyes feel like they're about
- 8:03Speaker 2: to pop out of my head.
- 8:05Speaker 5: See. My problem is definitely.
- 8:09Speaker 4: That I feel like a digital book Like this is
- 8:11Speaker 4: what I was telling Matt the book that we are
- 8:14Speaker 4: reviewing for Patreon. Guys, I've read this book like five times,
- 8:19Speaker 4: and I'm toltal Clay. I was like, I'm gonna need
- 8:21Speaker 4: till seven thirty. I don't I don't know what happened.
- 8:24Speaker 4: I don't remember this book being this long. Clay's never
- 8:27Speaker 4: read it before, so you had no idea, y'all. The
- 8:29Speaker 4: book had twenty six percent of it as previews.
- 8:34Speaker 3: For the for the very next like like.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And so.
- 8:40Speaker 4: And so I'm like, oh crap, I met sixty two
- 8:43Speaker 4: and then I'm like from and I'm like, oh, okay,
- 8:46Speaker 4: I'm good. So yeah, I do a lot better on
- 8:51Speaker 4: digital copies.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Well, And the thing is, I used to do really
- 8:56Speaker 2: well on digital copies, but we gave the only iPad
- 9:00Speaker 2: in this household to amberln So every digital book that
- 9:06Speaker 2: I read is on my phone.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I couldn't do it on that. I've gotta because
- 9:12Speaker 4: the blue Light, especially like really will strain your eyes.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 2: So, uh, I've told Abby that after our vacation and
- 9:25Speaker 2: after my Christmas shopping immediately after our vacation, I'm saving
- 9:31Speaker 2: up for an e reader that has a decently sized
- 9:36Speaker 2: screen so I don't have to read books like this.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Uh it's for everybody listening, I just put my freaking
- 9:46Speaker 2: phone like right.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Now, all right, y'all, we're going to hit our first
- 9:51Speaker 4: AD break and we will be right back in three
- 9:54Speaker 4: two one.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's just so disgusting some times how
- 10:01Speaker 2: much my eyes just strain, And especially that I've like
- 10:05Speaker 2: learned this new trick and evolved to like a higher
- 10:09Speaker 2: level of reading thanks to Katie with scan reading. Scan
- 10:14Speaker 2: reading on a small screen is absolutely.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Like it's crazy.
- 10:21Speaker 4: It's kind of nice because you don't have as much
- 10:24Speaker 4: to scan read. So it helps me because I've trained
- 10:27Speaker 4: my brain to go super fast.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Yeah but yeah, yeah, see the problem that I have
- 10:33Speaker 2: scan reading on a small screen. I like don't realize
- 10:37Speaker 2: it until like the third time I read the same
- 10:40Speaker 2: line over and over again, I'm like, wait, hold on,
- 10:41Speaker 2: but go back, Okay, keep going Okay, So.
- 10:49Speaker 3: But I'm getting better at it, and and and yeah, I.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Just I just need a better screen, because guys, I
- 10:56Speaker 2: used to read comics on my phone and like eventually
- 11:01Speaker 2: the phones just kept on getting bigger and bigger, and
- 11:04Speaker 2: so like, oh this is perfect, like yeah, but when
- 11:06Speaker 2: it comes to reading a book, it's there's like it's
- 11:10Speaker 2: I've held an e reader.
- 11:13Speaker 3: That not the Kindle. Uh, it's the it's the other.
- 11:18Speaker 5: One, the Cobo.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yes, the Cobo. I've held the Cobo. And I'm just like,
- 11:26Speaker 2: this is a game changer. I need to get my
- 11:28Speaker 2: hands on one of these. They look really nice and
- 11:32Speaker 2: really nice.
- 11:33Speaker 5: My kindle wouldn't turn on the other day and I
- 11:36Speaker 5: about sobbed.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Like attack, like, oh no, what am I gonna do?
- 11:43Speaker 4: Yeah, because mine kindle, So mine kindle has buttons because
- 11:47Speaker 4: I don't like having to touch the screen and getting
- 11:49Speaker 4: fingerprints all over the screen.
- 11:51Speaker 5: So his buttons. Amazon doesn't make this anymore. They don't
- 11:55Speaker 5: make ones with buttons.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Oh. So, so like.
- 11:59Speaker 5: As soon as it dies, it's I have to move on. Yeah,
- 12:03Speaker 5: oh no, so guys, the.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Next bit of news that we have, So the Random
- 12:12Speaker 4: House Worlds panel talked a lot about upcoming books and
- 12:17Speaker 4: so this Reign of the Empire trilogy We're still waiting
- 12:20Speaker 4: on books two and three, so we have titles and.
- 12:24Speaker 5: We have an updated release date.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Originally these were supposed to come out of February twenty
- 12:29Speaker 4: twenty six and February twenty twenty seven. Now, Book two
- 12:34Speaker 4: by Rebecca Ronehorse is entitled Edge of the Abyss.
- 12:39Speaker 5: And it will be coming out next fall.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Now there is no confirmed month or anything, but it's
- 12:47Speaker 4: just fall twenty twenty six, so not a huge deal.
- 12:51Speaker 4: I mean, it happens in publishing, so that just means
- 12:54Speaker 4: that there's more time for this book to breathe and
- 12:58Speaker 4: get where it needs to be. This book is going
- 13:02Speaker 4: to be set one year before and or season one,
- 13:05Speaker 4: so it will be six bby is when it will occur,
- 13:10Speaker 4: and everything and some and word characters have been teased
- 13:15Speaker 4: to be an Edge of these. Rebecca Ronhorsh wrote, Oh gosh,
- 13:23Speaker 4: I was gonna say what she wrote now I can't
- 13:25Speaker 4: think of it. It is the book after the Last Jedi,
- 13:33Speaker 4: Please tell them now, I gotta look it up. Rebecca
- 13:40Speaker 4: Ronehorse Star Wars Resistance Reborn. I was gonna say rebellion something.
- 13:46Speaker 4: So that is her history in Star Wars. She's also
- 13:51Speaker 4: written some other short Stories and Everything.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Book three.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Uh, they didn't reveal too much about this guy, but
- 13:59Speaker 4: it is entire told from the ashes and it will
- 14:02Speaker 4: now release summer twenty twenty seven. And this one, uh,
- 14:07Speaker 4: there's no covers with these guys. Oh gosh, I cannot
- 14:10Speaker 4: see that name on the screen.
- 14:15Speaker 3: So on oh wow, Uh it is.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Is somebody new to Star Wars. She's only written in
- 14:31Speaker 5: from a certain point of view. Books.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Boy, So the first one.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Is Maskafere Alexander Fried.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Maska. Then it's Edge of Balance Rebecca. See.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I was getting confused because I literally thought that I was.
- 14:50Speaker 2: I was zooming in. I was like, oh, that's Alexander Fried.
- 14:53Speaker 2: We already knew this, but no, no, no, when you're looking
- 14:56Speaker 2: at from the ashes, uh, something wild.
- 15:03Speaker 5: Yes, it's a Fran Wild. So uh Fran has written
- 15:09Speaker 5: because I got the Wikipedia up now of course from
- 15:12Speaker 5: a certain point of view. Return of the Jedi featuring Manmatha.
- 15:16Speaker 5: That's right.
- 15:18Speaker 4: So oh that is uh that The last one was
- 15:24Speaker 4: a new reveal for the February twenty twenty sixth slot.
- 15:29Speaker 4: A book by Mike Chin, who wrote one of your
- 15:31Speaker 4: favorite Star Wars books play.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Is Star Wars.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Outlaws low Red Moon, and it is a prequel book.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Oh gosh, where did her summary go? It was right there? Sorry, guys,
- 15:52Speaker 5: m oh, there's no summary. She didn't have a summary.
- 15:57Speaker 5: It's the only thing from the All that they said
- 16:01Speaker 5: was low Red Moon will quote make you cheer for murder.
- 16:08Speaker 2: So it says here on Star Wars dot Com. Okay,
- 16:14Speaker 2: low Red Moon, a Star Wars Outlaws prequel novel is
- 16:18Speaker 2: coming to a bookstore near you this February third, So
- 16:22Speaker 2: February third, six and Jalen Ras embark on their descent
- 16:31Speaker 2: into the galaxies underworld in.
- 16:33Speaker 3: This essential Star Wars read.
- 16:36Speaker 2: It is now available to pre order wherever books are sold,
- 16:41Speaker 2: and it does it does reiterate that this is not
- 16:45Speaker 2: the final cover.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Yeah, it'll probably be some variation.
- 16:50Speaker 4: The cover art that they've got on display at the
- 16:52Speaker 4: panel is by uh not Taylor, but Ransom House Worlds
- 16:58Speaker 4: has just been pulling like really cool covers out I
- 17:02Speaker 4: just love it, like this evokes tension. Now, obviously you
- 17:06Speaker 4: and I have not done a lot with Star Wars Outlaws.
- 17:09Speaker 4: We will have to find a compilation of the cut
- 17:12Speaker 4: scenes so.
- 17:13Speaker 2: It could be out I'm I'm personally waiting until it
- 17:18Speaker 2: finally goes on that dirt cheap sale where I can
- 17:21Speaker 2: get it for like less than fifteen dollars.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I will say.
- 17:27Speaker 2: This, It does look like the sales for that game
- 17:33Speaker 2: did not do so well.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Again, there's a lot attached to that as far as.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Like, oh, the DLC plus the game is outrageous, but
- 17:45Speaker 2: if you do the gold Pass for Xbox Plus this,
- 17:49Speaker 2: you can get it at like a decent amount, which
- 17:51Speaker 2: was actually just seventy.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Dollars the normal amount for a game, so it's not
- 17:55Speaker 3: that decent.
- 17:57Speaker 2: So there's a lot of factors into why the sales
- 18:00Speaker 2: didn't do so well. But rumors are circulating circulating that
- 18:07Speaker 2: the proposed sequel to this video game is probably dead
- 18:13Speaker 2: in the water.
- 18:14Speaker 5: So which does suck? It really does?
- 18:18Speaker 4: Yeah, because I know a lot of people enjoyed the game. Adrian,
- 18:22Speaker 4: we know enjoyed the game from but why though He's
- 18:24Speaker 4: been on the show a few times, so hopefully it
- 18:30Speaker 4: finds its audience and can get picked back up. But
- 18:35Speaker 4: who knows in this economy, Guys.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Who knows.
- 18:38Speaker 4: We're going to go into our second ad break and
- 18:42Speaker 4: we'll be right back. So the last little bit from
- 18:48Speaker 4: San Diego Comic Eye was the Lucasfilm Panel, and the
- 18:53Speaker 4: Lucasfilm Panel talked a lot about the different stories that
- 18:56Speaker 4: have come out. Charlessol was there, Tessa Gratton, We're all present.
- 19:01Speaker 4: I just kind of talked about everything. Michael Saidglan was
- 19:05Speaker 4: there to talk about the Higher Republic coming to an end.
- 19:09Speaker 4: So a lot of preview pages that we won't really
- 19:11Speaker 4: go into. But two news stories did get announced. So
- 19:17Speaker 4: the first one is another mini series by Michael Mareki
- 19:22Speaker 4: I think it's his name, and it does the bad
- 19:24Speaker 4: Batch Rogue Agents.
- 19:29Speaker 5: So they shared a couple pictures from that.
- 19:31Speaker 4: They aren't really the best, so I'm not going to
- 19:34Speaker 4: share my screen for those. And then the Young Jedi
- 19:40Speaker 4: Adventures show is getting a I think this is.
- 19:43Speaker 5: A graphic novel and it's called The Training Sessions.
- 19:51Speaker 3: I actually have it upright here.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Also, this one does not specify if it's a graphic novel,
- 20:03Speaker 2: but it is from Dave.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Shite Sheet A E. I. D. T and Daniel jose Older.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Of course, the follows the Jedi Young Wings Ky Bright
- 20:20Speaker 2: Star Liz Sole and Nubs, with a special appearance by
- 20:25Speaker 2: gentle Giant Burriaga as they set off on missions across
- 20:32Speaker 2: the galaxy to learn the ways of the force. So
- 20:36Speaker 2: just for the fact that Burioga is a part of it.
- 20:38Speaker 2: I might be buying this for Amberlyn and then I'll
- 20:42Speaker 2: read it first and then I can read it to her.
- 20:46Speaker 3: This actually has a release date of December.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Cool.
- 20:54Speaker 3: This looks really fun. The art looks a little wonky
- 20:58Speaker 3: on the cover.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I don't know how I feel about that, but I
- 21:05Speaker 2: we love adventures, so yeah, I know I'm gonna have
- 21:08Speaker 2: a good time with it.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm super excited for it. Guys.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I just want to shout out the people who did
- 21:16Speaker 4: the live tweets for these panels. So Laughingplace dot com
- 21:20Speaker 4: did the lucasfilm panel. Uh live tweet, and then user
- 21:27Speaker 4: cot seeker on Twitter did the random House worlds Uh
- 21:32Speaker 4: that's Kleo.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Is in her name or is in their name? Because
- 21:38Speaker 5: I don't actually know.
- 21:40Speaker 4: But yeah, as always, we really appreciate live tweeters because
- 21:45Speaker 4: we just can't make it to everything.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 21:52Speaker 4: So with that clip, take us into this last topic
- 21:55Speaker 4: because I'm so done.
- 21:58Speaker 2: So this is where the title comes from. Is Star
- 22:03Speaker 2: Wars too cool for stars? We have a rumor grain
- 22:11Speaker 2: of Salt? People, remember grain of Salt? Here Chris Evans
- 22:17Speaker 2: is reportedly being eyed for a role in a Star
- 22:21Speaker 2: Wars project. Now, I shared this in our guachat and
- 22:27Speaker 2: in our Star Wars Alliance chat where we collect all
- 22:31Speaker 2: of our news topics, stories, whatever, so that way we
- 22:35Speaker 2: can kind of sit on it talk about it sparingly,
- 22:38Speaker 2: so that way we can save most of the conversations
- 22:40Speaker 2: for here. But Travis, of course, our godfather of the gua,
- 22:45Speaker 2: says boo, I think the days of Star Wars not
- 22:48Speaker 2: being riddled with stars is over and I'm bummed, Travis,
- 22:54Speaker 2: star Wars stars in the name, but you can't have
- 23:00Speaker 2: a Star Wars without stars.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Wow. Oh like and Snell, you know I love you.
- 23:08Speaker 5: I hate this take.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I hate this take because like, yes, Star Wars got
- 23:13Speaker 4: its start as like a oh these are a bunch
- 23:17Speaker 4: of nobody's but you know what, like.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Han Solo, Harrison Ford star like so you can.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I know you complained about Harrison Ford coming back for
- 23:31Speaker 4: the sequel trilogy, but.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Like, I think, I think it's absolutely silly for it
- 23:38Speaker 2: is Travis to have this take.
- 23:41Speaker 3: But absolutely need there to.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Be an a list Batman every single time Batman gets
- 23:50Speaker 2: cast in. Sorry people, people may want to argue with
- 23:56Speaker 2: that one.
- 23:56Speaker 6: But it's because behind the mask well no, no, no stars.
- 24:03Speaker 3: It is the fact, truly, guys, like.
- 24:08Speaker 2: We are in a very awkward stage in Star Wars
- 24:13Speaker 2: film right now where we just talked about this in
- 24:17Speaker 2: the gua Geek versus.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Crossover Guys, you can go check that out.
- 24:22Speaker 2: We did go live over the weekend and we talked
- 24:27Speaker 2: about like, literally, Katie, right after you had left, we
- 24:31Speaker 2: talked about the next five years for Star Wars DC
- 24:37Speaker 2: and Marvel, and for Star Wars, I had said that
- 24:46Speaker 2: we are in such a place that like people may
- 24:50Speaker 2: look at the Mandalorian like Mandalorian Grogu movie and be like, oh,
- 24:57Speaker 2: I know it's been a while since the Star Wars
- 24:59Speaker 2: movie has been out, and I really want to see one,
- 25:02Speaker 2: but they haven't really been hitting the last few times,
- 25:05Speaker 2: so I might skip it until it's on streaming, you know. Yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 2: do you know what's gonna stop them from thinking that
- 25:12Speaker 2: if there's big pop stars in the movies.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Star Wars needs money. The movie business is unfortunately.
- 25:23Speaker 5: About money making. Yeah, bring the star Chris Evans, Robert
- 25:29Speaker 5: Junny Jr. Oh my gosh, I give to see Robert
- 25:33Speaker 5: Junny Jung.
- 25:36Speaker 2: The fact that we have uh, one of the geekiest
- 25:43Speaker 2: Superman's doing every single part of his freaking media coverage
- 25:53Speaker 2: on Superman, he spends most of the time talking about
- 25:56Speaker 2: Star Wars.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Get that man in a Star Wars movie, and you
- 26:01Speaker 3: know what.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Like screw like, oh, this is Wolverine kind of thing.
- 26:06Speaker 4: These these actors that are coming up nowadays, especially they
- 26:11Speaker 4: like lived on this stuff.
- 26:12Speaker 5: That's how they became who they are.
- 26:14Speaker 4: They said, I want to be Han Solo and then
- 26:17Speaker 4: got to become the next generation Han Solo. Like, so
- 26:23Speaker 4: I don't think, oh, just because they made a big
- 26:25Speaker 4: name for themselves a Superman or Captain America or anything
- 26:31Speaker 4: like that, it needs to detract from their capability to
- 26:35Speaker 4: be in Star Wars.
- 26:37Speaker 3: One hundred percent agree with you the like.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I need, but I also want, uh, not only big
- 26:50Speaker 2: stars of movies.
- 26:53Speaker 3: I want to get your.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Big star obscure actors and actresses from those critically acclaimed
- 27:01Speaker 2: TV shows, those streaming shows like we have been fighting
- 27:08Speaker 2: this ever you know long fight of Oh you know,
- 27:13Speaker 2: does Star Wars belong on television if you put the
- 27:16Speaker 2: right people behind the camera, that you give the right
- 27:20Speaker 2: person the pin for the script, and you put the
- 27:23Speaker 2: right person in.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Front of the camera, it's going to do great. And
- 27:30Speaker 3: it's due to this.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Fear of oh well, Star Wars is known for these
- 27:37Speaker 2: three people and this one family and this one story, and.
- 27:44Speaker 3: We have to break from that. We have to break
- 27:46Speaker 3: from that.
- 27:46Speaker 2: And that's what I said on the GUA crossover episode
- 27:50Speaker 2: with Geek First, is that with and Or we talked
- 27:54Speaker 2: about previously that.
- 27:57Speaker 3: It opens up the door for other people to start
- 28:02Speaker 3: pitching genre movies with Star Wars.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I would love a and And I think this would
- 28:13Speaker 2: probably uh get Katie motion sickness. But if you were
- 28:18Speaker 2: to give a if you were to give me a
- 28:20Speaker 2: found footage movie from like a Clone Trooper or a
- 28:25Speaker 2: either a Clone Trooper or Stormtroopers like Visor and make
- 28:30Speaker 2: it like horror like make it a like a horror
- 28:33Speaker 2: suspense movie.
- 28:35Speaker 4: And we're about to jump into our third ad, y'all.
- 28:39Speaker 4: We promise we'll be right back.
- 28:40Speaker 3: We promise, you know.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Like either the Death Trooper novel or Red Harvest
- 28:48Speaker 2: is one that we've been hearing rumors.
- 28:50Speaker 3: About, Uh you do that. People are gonna be.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Like, oh crap, this is like a horror movie, but
- 28:58Speaker 2: it's Star Wars. It's gonna peak interest, it's gonna show people,
- 29:02Speaker 2: and then you could like freaking The whole reason why
- 29:07Speaker 2: we got like a big boom in movies, like in
- 29:10Speaker 2: the twenty sixteen twenty twenty era was the fact that
- 29:17Speaker 2: people were literally making movies on YouTube, and Hollywood was like, hey,
- 29:22Speaker 2: we need some of these people make it our movies.
- 29:25Speaker 2: That's why we got what's his name making who made Shazam.
- 29:31Speaker 2: We had a whole bunch of horror film directors making
- 29:35Speaker 2: superhero movies because they were able to do things with
- 29:38Speaker 2: low budget and like all.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Of this stuff. So like you could do that with
- 29:42Speaker 3: Star Wars. Just do it with Star Wars. It's not
- 29:44Speaker 3: that hard and you need stars to do that.
- 29:49Speaker 5: Yeah, aint no doubt about it. We've talked about this
- 29:58Speaker 5: and ausiums. Oh, I feel like we're good here and
- 30:02Speaker 5: you can move on to Resistance season two. Two. Oh yeah,
- 30:09Speaker 5: so Clay, this was like my fourth experience with season two.
- 30:16Speaker 5: What did you think?
- 30:19Speaker 2: I I had a love hate relationship with this season
- 30:27Speaker 2: because in season one we talked about the whole like, oh,
- 30:31Speaker 2: this is a little bit of a downgrade as far
- 30:35Speaker 2: as like audience wise, like they're trying to reach a
- 30:39Speaker 2: younger demographic and all these other things. Right, I got
- 30:43Speaker 2: past all of that very quickly in the first season.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Same thing here, you have the exact same characters. You like,
- 30:52Speaker 2: you have some new characters that come in and out,
- 30:54Speaker 2: but like you can seemingly go from season one to
- 31:00Speaker 2: season two and not much has changed. I will say
- 31:03Speaker 2: I think the animation is slightly better in season two
- 31:07Speaker 2: than it was in season two. Yeah, but the joke
- 31:12Speaker 2: still hit the humor, it was still very tasteful.
- 31:19Speaker 3: But the one problem that I had was the types of.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Conflict that our heroes kept facing were the exact same problems.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Oh, they're a spy. Are you sure they're a spy?
- 31:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna trust this person because they had a very
- 31:41Speaker 2: sad backstory. Oh no, I should not have trusted them,
- 31:46Speaker 2: because now they've turned on us, and they've did that
- 31:49Speaker 2: like I think three or four times in all of
- 31:51Speaker 2: season two.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Yeah. Oh, Like I love Kaz for his undying faith
- 31:58Speaker 5: in everyone, but also like have some realism like stranger danger,
- 32:04Speaker 5: like that animation as a kids show.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Like you you you want to join the resistance, like there's.
- 32:17Speaker 3: You gotta know your surroundings.
- 32:18Speaker 2: You were in the navy, how could you be in
- 32:20Speaker 2: the Navy and be so trustworthy?
- 32:24Speaker 3: You know, So there was that.
- 32:29Speaker 2: The the more dialogue with the pirates I thought was
- 32:33Speaker 2: really fun.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Some of it was kind of getting a little.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Tedious and it was just like, Okay, you know, they're
- 32:40Speaker 2: literally just here for like random conflicts at times, which
- 32:46Speaker 2: was you know, more so just a like, hey, there's
- 32:49Speaker 2: that much for us to do, so you know, let's
- 32:52Speaker 2: throw pirates into this, you know kind of thing. But
- 32:56Speaker 2: this show also has a lot of heart one so
- 33:02Speaker 2: uh I, I forget his name, is it uh Nicu.
- 33:08Speaker 2: One of my favorite episodes is when basically everybody on
- 33:14Speaker 2: the Colossus is going stir crazy because they can't leave.
- 33:18Speaker 2: They're in the middle of space, they're on the run,
- 33:22Speaker 2: and everybody keeps talking about how, you know, we used
- 33:25Speaker 2: to be so used to like outdoors and being outside
- 33:29Speaker 2: in the sun and being able to breathe fresh air,
- 33:31Speaker 2: Like I would much rather be on a random planet
- 33:35Speaker 2: being able to do that stuff than to just be
- 33:37Speaker 2: stuck here on the run, not being able to do anything.
- 33:41Speaker 5: Ye.
- 33:42Speaker 3: And then Nicu comes around, like near the end of
- 33:46Speaker 3: that particular episode, n to like grace basically like create
- 33:52Speaker 3: a like hollow.
- 33:55Speaker 5: On the windows for the Colossus.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's basically a volume for the Colossus. And I
- 34:02Speaker 2: thought that was cool. I thought that was really really fun.
- 34:06Speaker 5: Uh So what did you think about the Pirate episode
- 34:12Speaker 5: where the Pirates try to take over with the old
- 34:15Speaker 5: separatist battle droids? What did you think about that episode?
- 34:19Speaker 5: That one is one of my favorites.
- 34:21Speaker 2: It was, uh, it was, it was a favorite. It
- 34:24Speaker 2: was very very fun. I liked Oh shoot, I think
- 34:35Speaker 2: it was one of the very first episodes where they
- 34:37Speaker 2: were dealing with the first order droid, the roll the
- 34:42Speaker 2: rolling Droid. Yeah, that one was fun as well. But
- 34:48Speaker 2: what was that episode called the one that you were
- 34:50Speaker 2: talking about? It was? Uh was it the Mutiny?
- 34:55Speaker 5: I think it was the Mutant, Yeah, it was the
- 34:56Speaker 5: Mutiny episode fourteen.
- 34:59Speaker 2: That was actually right after one of my other favorite episodes,
- 35:03Speaker 2: which is Breakout with the Resistance Spy. Yeah, because there
- 35:09Speaker 2: was a lot of like HARKing back to like og
- 35:13Speaker 2: Star Wars of like oh, we'll just use the stormtrooper outfits,
- 35:18Speaker 2: you know, like well that's how we'll sneak in.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Like how many times have you done this?
- 35:22Speaker 5: Uh?
- 35:23Speaker 3: Just once actually not a whole and like you.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Know, got get me wrong.
- 35:27Speaker 4: There's some areas of repetitiveness in Star Wars where it
- 35:33Speaker 4: gets old, but like disguising yourself Instagram trooper armor and
- 35:39Speaker 4: the joys and the fun that you see on screen
- 35:41Speaker 4: with that never really gets old.
- 35:44Speaker 2: It's because again it gets a little like it's so silly,
- 35:47Speaker 2: you know, Like there's there's always the question of like
- 35:50Speaker 2: how are they gonna get caught or how are they
- 35:52Speaker 2: gonna get away with this? Like it's it's those two
- 35:55Speaker 2: questions that always make it fun. And then of course
- 35:59Speaker 2: there's always the silly like, oh, I have to act
- 36:03Speaker 2: like a stormtrooper and that automatically gets my voice like this,
- 36:07Speaker 2: even though everybody else talks normally, I have to talk
- 36:09Speaker 2: like this.
- 36:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 2: And there was even an episode where Kaz was dressed
- 36:15Speaker 2: up as an engineer on the ship. He didn't even
- 36:19Speaker 2: have a helmet on it, and he was like, oh, yeah,
- 36:21Speaker 2: I gotta change my voice.
- 36:24Speaker 3: I'm like, dude, what are you doing?
- 36:26Speaker 2: Like people are still going to recognize your face even
- 36:30Speaker 2: if you change your voice. But I really loved there
- 36:39Speaker 2: was uh, oh.
- 36:42Speaker 3: What what episode was it where.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Kaz and Hype had to team up because yes.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Where they're learning how to pilot together.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, and people like tend to forget.
- 36:57Speaker 2: And I know it's more so just because in this
- 37:01Speaker 2: is a show that is meant for little kids, and
- 37:06Speaker 2: Star Wars is made for kids, by the way, It's
- 37:07Speaker 2: it's totally fine, fine, smaller kids, but just some of
- 37:13Speaker 2: the humor that plays along with that, Like you write
- 37:17Speaker 2: this character that is a part of the Republic Navy
- 37:23Speaker 2: and then he goes onto this giant spy mission and
- 37:27Speaker 2: sometimes he tends to forget that he was in the navy.
- 37:31Speaker 2: It's just like, dude, you know how to pilot? Like
- 37:34Speaker 2: why are you acting like this? Why is this so
- 37:37Speaker 2: silly right now? But yeah, I liked I actually liked
- 37:42Speaker 2: Hype as a character in this season because, yeah, there
- 37:46Speaker 2: was a little.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Bit of depth to him as well.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Whereas in season one we maybe heard like maybe one
- 37:55Speaker 2: or two lines from him. He was kind of like
- 37:58Speaker 2: a nose in the air, like, oh, you know, you're
- 38:02Speaker 2: beneath me. I'm the you know, the BA pilot blah
- 38:05Speaker 2: blah blah. Whereas this there was the episode with the hut.
- 38:12Speaker 3: I forgot their name as well.
- 38:16Speaker 5: Oh gosh, it was Frankie.
- 38:23Speaker 3: It was.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Yeah with a V.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's right. That's right, because I because I
- 38:33Speaker 3: kept hearing the name and I was like, is that
- 38:35Speaker 3: saying Frankie or I remember that?
- 38:39Speaker 2: Yeah, So like the casino, I like that again because
- 38:45Speaker 2: of the time the timeline, you know, Canto bite was
- 38:50Speaker 2: name dropped and all this other stuff, which, by the way, and.
- 38:55Speaker 4: This should be our final ad break, so y'all, thanks
- 38:59Speaker 4: for bearing us.
- 39:00Speaker 5: We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Season two.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Is where in the timeline, so that way people can
- 39:09Speaker 2: kind of understand.
- 39:11Speaker 4: So season two it basically picks up. It's like, so
- 39:19Speaker 4: the end of season one was the Force Awakens with
- 39:22Speaker 4: the big scene and everything with the planets exploding and whatnot.
- 39:27Speaker 5: So you get here and it's like bam.
- 39:30Speaker 4: And so they go to the car in the second
- 39:37Speaker 4: episode and so that point you see, oh, the base
- 39:44Speaker 4: has already been destroyed.
- 39:46Speaker 5: So that is right after.
- 39:49Speaker 4: Like basically the Resistance takes off from the planet and
- 39:53Speaker 4: you see that cruiser come down and everything.
- 39:56Speaker 5: So this takes.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Place during the last Jedi and after, I would say,
- 40:04Speaker 4: because you don't really get any because like you get
- 40:08Speaker 4: Kylo Rinn at the end and he is Supreme Leader. Yeah,
- 40:13Speaker 4: and that didn't happen until Snow died. So uh, it
- 40:18Speaker 4: goes on a little bit after.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Okay, y, yeah, what did you or how did you
- 40:28Speaker 2: feel about? Uh, our first real conversations about it, because
- 40:37Speaker 2: there's there's a lot of it going on. But her
- 40:42Speaker 2: name is Tam Tam tam Ram. Uh. There is a
- 40:48Speaker 2: huge story plot with the fact that you know, in
- 40:52Speaker 2: the very beginning of this season, season two, she is
- 40:55Speaker 2: with the First Order, and there's you know, her being
- 41:03Speaker 2: like compassionate within the First Order, and she's getting in
- 41:08Speaker 2: trouble for it because during training she's like helping people.
- 41:12Speaker 2: And you know, one thing that we've always talked about
- 41:16Speaker 2: is the only way that people in the Empire, now
- 41:22Speaker 2: the First Order, the only way they really get promotions
- 41:28Speaker 2: and get up in the world of their politics and whatnot,
- 41:33Speaker 2: it is to step on others. And they literally say
- 41:38Speaker 2: that in one of these episodes when they're reprimanding Tam,
- 41:43Speaker 2: they're like, hey, we're not You're not here to help people.
- 41:48Speaker 2: We work best when we are able to crush our
- 41:51Speaker 2: week the weakest links and all of this other stuff. Right,
- 41:54Speaker 2: So I do like how they reinforced that here. But
- 41:59Speaker 2: how did you feel about the Tamra story.
- 42:03Speaker 4: I enjoyed it to an extent, Like I feel like
- 42:08Speaker 4: they pigeonholed her.
- 42:13Speaker 5: With the decision she had to.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Make and everything, because the oh, I'm going to go
- 42:19Speaker 4: to the dark side and then I'm gonna realized, Oh,
- 42:22Speaker 4: it was a huge mistake kind of thing.
- 42:24Speaker 5: I'm glad she realizes that, But at the same time,
- 42:27Speaker 5: it was like, Okay, could we have done her story
- 42:30Speaker 5: a little bit differently, so where she's still quote unquote redeemable,
- 42:36Speaker 5: but where it's not.
- 42:39Speaker 4: Trophy I guess yeah, And maybe again with it being
- 42:45Speaker 4: two kids, that maybe would lean a little too far
- 42:49Speaker 4: in the advanced category.
- 42:54Speaker 5: But to me, I'm like, I think we could make
- 42:58Speaker 5: it work, so.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I do.
- 43:04Speaker 5: My biggest issue with the series is probably causes naivete because.
- 43:12Speaker 4: How are you going to go, Oh, she made a
- 43:15Speaker 4: huge mistake. I'm going to send her a message like
- 43:19Speaker 4: how are you going to do that? Like right afterwards,
- 43:22Speaker 4: because like that just feels dangerous, especially when you know
- 43:26Speaker 4: the First Order wants our ship and will do anything.
- 43:29Speaker 5: To get it.
- 43:31Speaker 2: I do have a problem, and we've talked about it
- 43:34Speaker 2: in this in season one as well. Uh that doesn't
- 43:40Speaker 2: really go away, but again, I think it's because of
- 43:47Speaker 2: with that naivete comes a little bit of humor, and
- 43:53Speaker 2: as long as you have that slapstick humor, yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Hey, that can be on. You know, this was Disney Jr.
- 44:02Speaker 5: I believe, or no, I think it was Disney xd.
- 44:07Speaker 2: XD yeah or jed X you know XD was the
- 44:10Speaker 2: one after that. Yeah, so Disney XD. So like, I
- 44:16Speaker 2: get the reason why they had him like that. But again,
- 44:23Speaker 2: the saving grace for those moments is when Kaz does
- 44:31Speaker 2: have those good ideas or Kas does get to save
- 44:34Speaker 2: the day, or a compelling like uplifting conversation that he
- 44:41Speaker 2: that is written within the episode. Like, it's those moments
- 44:46Speaker 2: that really do help this show move along. If it
- 44:52Speaker 2: didn't have the heart that it does, I would not
- 44:56Speaker 2: have gotten to season two. Like we've already we talked
- 45:01Speaker 2: about it. I will say I feel like there was
- 45:06Speaker 2: more uh compelling stories in season one.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Oh you think that there's more compelling stories here.
- 45:23Speaker 5: I feel like the story of Kaz the Spy gets
- 45:26Speaker 5: really old, really fast.
- 45:28Speaker 4: Whereas I feel like this, well, I still got annoyed
- 45:32Speaker 4: with Kaz. The stories were spread out more evenly amongst
- 45:35Speaker 4: the cast.
- 45:37Speaker 5: I was gonna say more compelling that way.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Let me elaborate.
- 45:43Speaker 2: I felt like there was more compelling stories outside of
- 45:47Speaker 2: the main story in season one.
- 45:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that showed the heart because.
- 45:53Speaker 2: In this there is like a almost I wouldn't say fast,
- 46:00Speaker 2: but almost at the same time too fast of a pace. Yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 2: narrative that they have to follow due to the fact
- 46:06Speaker 2: that this is like in between two movies and there's
- 46:13Speaker 2: only so many episodes, right, so like, yeah, there has
- 46:16Speaker 2: to be the story that is the show resistance, but
- 46:21Speaker 2: they have to follow, Hey, we can't do this because
- 46:24Speaker 2: the movie said this, or like, oh, we can't do
- 46:26Speaker 2: that because the movie had those characters do this, Like
- 46:30Speaker 2: they have to follow a certain path.
- 46:34Speaker 3: And so I do feel like.
- 46:37Speaker 2: There was probably some things that they had to hold
- 46:39Speaker 2: back on because of that.
- 46:42Speaker 5: Because you think about it too.
- 46:43Speaker 4: They're writing this and a lot of people think this
- 46:47Speaker 4: was originally supposed to be three seasons, and when they
- 46:50Speaker 4: saw the issues that they had with the sequel trilogy,
- 46:54Speaker 4: combined with the reaction that season one got, they probably
- 46:58Speaker 4: were like, Okay, we're not going to do a season three.
- 47:02Speaker 4: But like the release date for the first episode of
- 47:06Speaker 4: the season was October sixth, twenty nineteen, and you didn't
- 47:10Speaker 4: have the Rise of Skywalker until December of that year.
- 47:15Speaker 5: So while you would like to go.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Oh, they were communicating, we all know Star Wars movies
- 47:22Speaker 4: live action animation, so there's no guarantees.
- 47:27Speaker 5: The they were communicating.
- 47:30Speaker 2: In the long run, I almost feel like they should
- 47:35Speaker 2: have gone the round of bad Batch, where it was like, hey,
- 47:41Speaker 2: not a not great reception here, but let's keep it
- 47:45Speaker 2: going just to see.
- 47:46Speaker 3: What we can do with this, because.
- 47:49Speaker 2: And I could bad Batch, we absolutely loved it by
- 47:52Speaker 2: season three, you know well.
- 47:54Speaker 4: And I think the other problem that you ran into
- 47:57Speaker 4: is this was not a Disney Plus premiere, even though
- 48:00Speaker 4: it came out after Disney Plus came out, Like because
- 48:03Speaker 4: I think Disney Plus was twenty nineteen or is it twenty.
- 48:07Speaker 3: Eighteen, Yes, it was twenty nineteen. So this was.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Originally premiering on Disney XD and it stuck on Disney XD.
- 48:15Speaker 4: So in that regard, you're dealing with cable and ads
- 48:19Speaker 4: and everything, whereas bad Batch, being Disney Plus oriented, you
- 48:23Speaker 4: can go, Okay, we're gonna give this some breathing room
- 48:26Speaker 4: because it's an animation show and it's cheaper to me
- 48:29Speaker 4: than the Accolle was. So I think maybe if this
- 48:33Speaker 4: had been a Disney plus, you could have said, oh, okay,
- 48:36Speaker 4: let's try season three. But because it was cable based,
- 48:41Speaker 4: I can see why it got the ax from that standpoint,
- 48:46Speaker 4: because cable shows very like we talk about how streaming
- 48:50Speaker 4: services get the ax all the time, cable was very
- 48:54Speaker 4: hard to keep a show going.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, especially in the later years, you know, when
- 49:02Speaker 2: we were kids, it was all about syndications. So they
- 49:05Speaker 2: would literally just you know, have shows that had thirty
- 49:09Speaker 2: episode seasons and just kept pushing it out until they
- 49:12Speaker 2: hit that mark where they're like, hey, we could finally
- 49:15Speaker 2: syndicate this. We got our big paycheck, let's give it
- 49:18Speaker 2: to every other channel, and we're just good to go.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Whereas this with something.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Like this, if it wasn't hitting, if people weren't willing to,
- 49:27Speaker 2: you know, drop the money to have advertisements on your
- 49:30Speaker 2: time slot for your shows, you knew, hey, we got
- 49:34Speaker 2: to cut the cord off.
- 49:35Speaker 4: Yeah, you get to like twenty thirteen twenty fourteen, where
- 49:39Speaker 4: social media became a big highlight of everything, like TV
- 49:45Speaker 4: reactions and everything, and you go, okay, we have to
- 49:48Speaker 4: start being a little more attentive to what we're putting
- 49:51Speaker 4: out and especially an animated show on a kid's network.
- 49:57Speaker 4: If kids aren't watching it, what's the plat kind of thing?
- 50:01Speaker 4: So yep, But overall, I enjoyed the season more than
- 50:07Speaker 4: I did season one. I do think the show has
- 50:12Speaker 4: its merits. It's got a lot of heart. I'm still
- 50:14Speaker 4: not a fan of the animation. After watching this through
- 50:17Speaker 4: five times, I'm not huge intoate, but you know what,
- 50:24Speaker 4: I didn't mind watching it five times, so you know what, and.
- 50:31Speaker 3: I I would still prefer.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Clone Wars animation over all of the Star Wars animation.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Oh well, that's hard to say with visions, but yeah,
- 50:48Speaker 2: it was a choice, and I honestly think that they
- 50:50Speaker 2: were like, hey, we need to push this out as
- 50:52Speaker 2: quickly as possible. What is the cheapest animation that can
- 50:57Speaker 2: be acceptable for twenty nineteen, right, Yeah, and.
- 51:02Speaker 3: They chose this.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Twenty nineteen was still a really big component with three
- 51:12Speaker 2: D modeling for animation shows, so you had this, You
- 51:18Speaker 2: had a lot of Transformers cartoons that had this kind
- 51:21Speaker 2: of style, blocky type of animation as well.
- 51:26Speaker 3: So it's just a popular thing.
- 51:28Speaker 2: And it didn't hit one hundred, but you can definitely
- 51:33Speaker 2: tell if you watched the last episode of season one
- 51:36Speaker 2: and watched the first episode of season two of this show,
- 51:39Speaker 2: you can tell.
- 51:39Speaker 3: That there's an upgrade in the animation.
- 51:43Speaker 2: So there was improvements, or at least attempts to improve
- 51:47Speaker 2: what was probably a little bit of a backlash for
- 51:50Speaker 2: when it first premiered.
- 51:52Speaker 5: Oh, I remember when it first premiered, people lost their
- 51:56Speaker 5: crap over the animation. Yeah, I was like.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Dude, Yeah, so I really like this show a lot.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Now I'll leave you with this question, and I know
- 52:13Speaker 2: it's a question that we always talk about, but because
- 52:15Speaker 2: we are here talking about this now, it is currently
- 52:23Speaker 2: July thirtieth, twenty twenty five, the time of recording this,
- 52:28Speaker 2: since you were not really there when we were talking
- 52:32Speaker 2: about these things on the Gua Geek First Crossover, Katie.
- 52:38Speaker 2: In five years, where do you in five years do
- 52:45Speaker 2: you see Star Wars animation going back to streaming or television.
- 52:55Speaker 5: Animation?
- 52:56Speaker 7: Yeah, if they would go back to cable like long
- 53:02Speaker 7: form storytelling animation like because of course you could say
- 53:07Speaker 7: adventures and Adventures is like like twenty something episodes of season, but.
- 53:15Speaker 2: It is a pre kids like pre pre k type
- 53:22Speaker 2: of storytelling, very simplistic. But like, do you think we
- 53:27Speaker 2: could get a Star Wars animated series like Clone Wars,
- 53:33Speaker 2: like Rebels or like Resistance in the next five years.
- 53:39Speaker 5: Did you forget about Mall.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I'm not really counting MALL because it was already announced,
- 53:47Speaker 2: Like I like, so you're saying another like because I
- 53:52Speaker 2: because I truly believe again Mall is only a pocket
- 53:59Speaker 2: like worth of story, Like I don't think the I
- 54:03Speaker 2: don't think Maul is going to be as elaborate or
- 54:07Speaker 2: drawn out as that of a Clone Wars or Rebels.
- 54:10Speaker 3: You know.
- 54:11Speaker 2: That's why I'm not really counting it's it's more of
- 54:13Speaker 2: a character study than it is an overall narrative of
- 54:20Speaker 2: the timeline of Star Wars.
- 54:22Speaker 6: I don't think so so because you could say, oh, well,
- 54:28Speaker 6: we could get like early lsar Avar Stellin like we've
- 54:34Speaker 6: talked about.
- 54:35Speaker 5: I just don't think it's going to happen right now
- 54:38Speaker 5: because of Foloney.
- 54:40Speaker 4: I think Foloney is very much in the mindset of
- 54:45Speaker 4: he wants to green light the stories he wants to tell,
- 54:49Speaker 4: and he doesn't want to tell higher Republic stories. So
- 54:53Speaker 4: I think we are going to be getting a lot
- 54:55Speaker 4: of character studies versus.
- 54:59Speaker 5: O King stuff. Okay, stuff was not where I was
- 55:07Speaker 5: going with that, but I forgot the word, so we're
- 55:10Speaker 5: calling stuff okay. Oh man, Uh so that's that's my sucks.
- 55:21Speaker 3: All right.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Well, I I'm gonna cross my fingers. I'm gonna cross
- 55:26Speaker 2: my fingers and hope for the best because, like I
- 55:31Speaker 2: see this, and I just so happened to be walking
- 55:40Speaker 2: through uh local grocery store here and I saw a
- 55:46Speaker 2: kid with I'm assuming he's his parents phone and he
- 55:50Speaker 2: was watching Clone Wars, and I'm just god, I like,
- 55:54Speaker 2: I want, I want something more. Like, Yes, I could
- 55:57Speaker 2: always go back to Clone Wars, like I I am.
- 56:00Speaker 2: That's not something that I'm like hating for people to
- 56:04Speaker 2: do or anything, but like, I do feel like there
- 56:08Speaker 2: could be so much more new stories to tell.
- 56:13Speaker 3: In the I don't I.
- 56:16Speaker 5: Don't think they will go back to this form unless
- 56:21Speaker 5: Dave Filoni goes Okay, I've told what I want to
- 56:24Speaker 5: tell in the Mando Verse era, so now we can
- 56:29Speaker 5: do like Luke with the Jedi Academy kind of thing,
- 56:33Speaker 5: and I don't feel like that would be But I
- 56:36Speaker 5: don't think. I don't think Folony's going to be done
- 56:39Speaker 5: in the Mandover for quite some time, So.
- 56:45Speaker 3: I don't know if I love that statement, I mean,
- 56:50Speaker 3: because you.
- 56:50Speaker 5: Look at you look at Ahsoka.
- 56:54Speaker 4: Sorry, guys, I had to get my yarn through the
- 56:58Speaker 4: needle because you look at Aska.
- 57:00Speaker 5: Ahsoka season two is coming out probably next fall.
- 57:05Speaker 3: If we want to be at the.
- 57:08Speaker 5: Earliest, and then.
- 57:13Speaker 4: You have mal you're probably gonna do another Tales series.
- 57:19Speaker 4: I would say, uh so, that's what we know of
- 57:25Speaker 4: with Star Wars, and you probably looking at it, you're
- 57:28Speaker 4: probably going, Okay, we're going to be having Ahsoka season
- 57:31Speaker 4: three because I don't see Filoni being done in two
- 57:35Speaker 4: seasons with that story.
- 57:39Speaker 5: You also have.
- 57:41Speaker 4: The Manda movie that's coming out. Probably gonna see it
- 57:45Speaker 4: a second Manda movie, just because I mean, Space Adventures.
- 57:53Speaker 5: Is probably one of the easiest stories to tell with
- 57:56Speaker 5: Star Wars. And then eventually you're saying, okay, we have
- 58:01Speaker 5: the Air to the Empire movie where everybody comes together
- 58:06Speaker 5: and whatnot.
- 58:08Speaker 4: But you don't know when that's gonna happen, because if
- 58:10Speaker 4: you go okay, the movie is not happening until Ashocas
- 58:14Speaker 4: season three comes out, Like I don't see the Manking
- 58:19Speaker 4: Air to the Empire until we get a PSOCA season three.
- 58:24Speaker 3: Filoni was like Filoni was like that's twenty thirty right there.
- 58:30Speaker 4: Yeah, Floni was like, I'm not going to be attempting
- 58:34Speaker 4: the script on my movie until I'm done with Ahsoca
- 58:37Speaker 4: season two. So if he does his outline and goes, now,
- 58:44Speaker 4: there's a little more story I need to tell with Soka,
- 58:47Speaker 4: like there's one.
- 58:48Speaker 5: Hundred percent gonna happen.
- 58:50Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 58:53Speaker 5: I'm just being realistic. I don't like it either.
- 59:00Speaker 3: No, I I I understand.
- 59:03Speaker 2: I understand in the sense of like the way that
- 59:07Speaker 2: Feloney has been and how he really sticks to his
- 59:12Speaker 2: his characters.
- 59:14Speaker 3: So I get that, and I don't mind it.
- 59:17Speaker 5: But I do think he's best suited to animates. Like
- 59:21Speaker 5: the Tail series has been so good.
- 59:24Speaker 3: It's been so good, so I've really been enjoying it too.
- 59:29Speaker 3: But I think that is it. That is it.
- 59:32Speaker 5: You got to share your Tom answer?
- 59:35Speaker 3: Oh, yes, my Tom answer. So, guys, I minor spoilers for.
- 59:42Speaker 4: I'm going to put spoiler comments in the chat so
- 59:45Speaker 4: Clay can put them.
- 59:47Speaker 5: In the notes. Uh.
- 59:49Speaker 2: This is minor spoilers for Trials of the Jedi and
- 59:56Speaker 2: for Living Force and for Sanctuary the bad Batch story.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: So I reached out to Tom and I said Hi, Tom, Katie,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: and I just finished our review of The Bad Batch Sanctuary,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: and I had a little tinfoil hat theory, or rather
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: maybe a minor conspiracy. Is there any connection or reasoning
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: behind the late chapters as of late that kind of
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: highlight these Sith moments in Star Wars timeline. In the
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: Star Wars Timeline, the reason I asked is that all
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: three that I am thinking of in this scenario all
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: have the same tone and or feel like they should
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: provoke the same feeling in each book. In The Living Force,
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Darth Maul made a cameo appearance and killed, I'm actually
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: not gonna say it.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: I'm gonna go ahead and keep that secret. And then
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: in Trials of the Jedi chapter forty.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Blank creates, well, I I don't even know if I
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: could say that, you know what I said spoilers, So
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: I'm gonna go ahead and say it. In Trials of
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: the Jedi chapter forty as then creates his official red lightsaber,
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: and I said, and now in The Bad Bad Sanctuary,
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: you have a moment that is almost identical to the
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Living Force, but with Darth Vader confronting Celia in her
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: right hand, Parlan is this all a lead up to
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: something like Master of Evil or is this just a coincidence?
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: I would love to know, And Tom said that is
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: just a coincidence, but very nice observation. And it like,
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: I'm almost kind of mad because I'm like, no, like
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: you could like to just lie to me, okay, make
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: me feel like there is something here.
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: But Tom has said that they will take ideas from
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: things that they say online, so.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: So hey, I'm totally fine with it.
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: Tom.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: You, Hey, if you want to sit down and just
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: talk ideas, we could totally do this.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Totally. I'm totally down.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: But yeah, very very fun to hear back from Tom.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Speaking of which, we do have a plethora of books
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: to review for the next five months, y'all.
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: August August is slams we have, guys, We have Crystal
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: Crown next week, and then well we didn't say what
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: the fourteenth was going to be, the Force Unleashed two
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: and then The Higher Republic Adventures twenty twenty three Volume four,
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: so we have three there. Then in September we have
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: Revenge of the Sith novelization Charles sol Vader Run and
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: then Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy.
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: Pieces of the past.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: Then we have Legacy of Vader Volume one, Vision's Volume three,
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: Master of Evil, Last Order, High Republic, Fear of the Jedi,
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: Higher Public Adventures twenty twenty three, Volume five, and Path
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: of the Lightsaber Volume one, and that's just still November, guys.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so much.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: But we are blessed, yes, like like this is this
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: is the star part of Star Wars that we actually
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: like really do enjoy because we never run out of
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: content legitimately, so uh, we're we're very very happy about this,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: but just stick with us when it comes to some
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: reviews because we are seemingly very busy as you can
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: see or as so yeah, yeah, so, but I think
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: that is it for the episode.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: Guys.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: You could find me at fanboy Clay on any and
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: all social media. I am finally getting back in the
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: groove of reading. My problem was the fact that I
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: was off my medication for about two weeks and yeah,
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: I know, and that's what helps me remember stuff. So
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: I was like always frantic, like, guys, I legit. Last
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: night was like hey, by the way, blah blah blah.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: It was texting Katie and she's like the forget Resistance
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: and my only response was, oh shit.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: So I had forgotten.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: I was up until two am watching half of the
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: season and then watch the rest at work. It was rough, guys,
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: but got refiels on my medication And now I can
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: remember all that stuff and I will remember to put
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: things in my little task Remember reminder thing where it
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: actually gives me notifications and then yells at me if
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: I if I swipe those notifications. So yeah, I will
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: be getting on all of that. Crystal Crown, I looked
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: because I'm kind of taking a break from Audible. I
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: checked on libro dot FM and Crystal Crown doesn't have
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: the audio book there yet, but I don't know.
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: So I just looked on Audible because I'm still on
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: my Audible.
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: It is set for release October twenty.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: Eighth, No freaking way, Yeah, are you kidding me?
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: At least it's available for pre orders.
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: And again I'm kidding.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: Longest is that the longest we've had to wait?
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: No, No, I'm cutting Random House Kids again, We're cutting
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: Slack because this is like their first major book and stuff.
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: So hopefully the last order is ready to go. But
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: I would imagine what happened is that Tessa got this
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: book for Disney, and then Disney sold the rights to
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: Random House, so then there was a hot mess because
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: there's different audio players for each one. That is my
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: guess as to what happened here, I said, don't know, but.
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: Let's see.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: Is the last order available for pre order? Yeah, the
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: last order is available for pre order and it is
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: set for release October twenty first, So I'm not mad
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: into my wish list.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: So also because I was able to add Crystal Crown
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: to the wish list, I will also add last order.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: But yeah, so Crystal Crown will be the next book,
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: and so I have to get on that like tomorrow,
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: if not tonight.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: But Katie, what about you, y'all?
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: You can find me on most social media platforms is
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: at slica Katie. Remember I'm not there a whole lot.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: Like my social media time is down below an hour
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: on my phone. So uh, very proud of myself for that.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: But I will get back to you guys. If you
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: send me your message, I promise you can always shoot
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: us a text or leave us a voicemail five three
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: eight four eight two eighth.
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: Just give us the name somewait a reference and you
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: can also shoot us an email it's Star Wars Alliance
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: at gmail dot com. Remember there's no A in the Wars.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: That's very important. Don't forget it.
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: Also, because I meant to say this before my stuff,
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: I see Kevin.
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: Davis, you were back again this week.
