- 0:47Speaker 1: we invited him on the show. It only was like
- 0:50Speaker 1: twenty five thirty minutes long, but he was late as
- 0:52Speaker 1: fuck and someone was coming after. Who came after it? Paus?

- 1:49Speaker 1: the rosecransvic interview. All right, yo boutlet kV podcast. Rose
- 1:54Speaker 1: Kranzvick is here, keVs Deal. Welcome man. For people who
- 1:58Speaker 1: don't know who you are what you do, you are
- 2:02Speaker 1: a fixture in the LA hip hop scene. Rosecrans Ave
- 2:08Speaker 1: is the platform that you I think a few years
- 2:13Speaker 1: ago is when I first kind of started checking out
- 2:16Speaker 1: what you were doing, kind of give everyone a background
- 2:19Speaker 1: and like what it is you do and and like
- 2:22Speaker 1: you're kind of your background in the LA hip hop scene. Yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 1: So basically I started a blog like maybe like six
- 2:28Speaker 1: going on seven years ago called rosecrans Av, And basically
- 2:32Speaker 1: my whole thing was just I wanted to document like
- 2:35Speaker 1: the underground LA artists that weren't getting played on radio
- 2:38Speaker 1: or weren't getting any attention by like Complex or anything
- 2:41Speaker 1: like that. Right, So I was like, you know what,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck about the big artists. You know,
- 2:46Speaker 1: they're gonna get picked up by all these other blogs.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna just focus on finding like the new talent
- 2:51Speaker 1: and growing with them, you know what I mean. So
- 2:53Speaker 1: that's what I try to do. I just taught myself
- 2:55Speaker 1: how to write, you know, just really nobody like gave
- 2:59Speaker 1: a fuck for like three years, which was cool because
- 3:00Speaker 1: I got to like fuck up and like not have
- 3:03Speaker 1: a large audience in front of me, you know what
- 3:05Speaker 1: I mean. So like that was actually kind of cool
- 3:07Speaker 1: when I look back, because I fucked up so much.
- 3:11Speaker 1: You learn on the go, and not a lot of
- 3:13Speaker 1: people were looking exactly. So I did that and nobody
- 3:16Speaker 1: really started to give a fuck until we booked oh
- 3:19Speaker 1: three Greedo at a show at the Echo and it
- 3:23Speaker 1: was like a Monday night and we brought like the
- 3:24Speaker 1: whole city out, and then everybody was like, oh shit,
- 3:27Speaker 1: like damn, like everybody's paying attention to Grito. Now he
- 3:29Speaker 1: got picked up by like the Fader, right and all
- 3:32Speaker 1: these different places started paying attention to him. And then
- 3:35Speaker 1: we did it again with Shoreline Mafia the next month,
- 3:37Speaker 1: and then you know, we had our podcast on Dash Radio,
- 3:40Speaker 1: Grose Frands Radio, and then people just started really paying
- 3:42Speaker 1: attention to like what we were doing, just started giving
- 3:45Speaker 1: a fuck in general. And so who like who were
- 3:48Speaker 1: kind of like the core artists for you guys like
- 3:51Speaker 1: as far as who you were kind of getting behind
- 3:53Speaker 1: early on definitely Draco, Draco the Ruler, Grito, Shoreline, who
- 4:00Speaker 1: else there was like the Azy Cold. It was just
- 4:03Speaker 1: like this, you know, really even blue Face. You know,
- 4:07Speaker 1: we were on blue Face early. We just got behind
- 4:10Speaker 1: every LA artist early, even like Roddy Rich like I
- 4:14Speaker 1: wrote about him in like twenty seventeen, right right, you
- 4:16Speaker 1: know what I mean, Kaylin, All these people I just
- 4:19Speaker 1: kind of watched them grow and I thought they were dope.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I didn't know they would grow up to be like
- 4:23Speaker 1: mega stars, you know, necessarily like like Roddy or anything
- 4:26Speaker 1: like that. You know, I just saw them grow and
- 4:28Speaker 1: I thought they were talented and I liked the music,
- 4:30Speaker 1: you know. I mean, obviously, what I've noticed about the
- 4:34Speaker 1: new generation of LA for the most part, you know,
- 4:36Speaker 1: because obviously sometimes politics gets involved and people really can't
- 4:39Speaker 1: work with each other. But like, for the most part,
- 4:41Speaker 1: it seems like there's a whole wave of LA artists
- 4:44Speaker 1: the last couple of years that have worked with each other,
- 4:47Speaker 1: embraced each other, kind of had some camaraderie. Yeah, And
- 4:51Speaker 1: that was kind of always the hang up about LA,
- 4:53Speaker 1: you know, because people would always be like Atlanta every
- 4:55Speaker 1: once together, you know, like yeah, but I feel like
- 4:59Speaker 1: there's been a movement where everyone is, you know, for
- 5:02Speaker 1: the most part, moving in the same direction. You know.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Obviously there's, like I said, there's there's there's some beef,
- 5:09Speaker 1: there's some dumb shit. But is that something that you
- 5:11Speaker 1: noticed as well, and like if, like, why do you
- 5:13Speaker 1: think that is? That was like really a goal of
- 5:16Speaker 1: mine to create really create a community so that other
- 5:18Speaker 1: artists can be aware of other artists. But I think
- 5:21Speaker 1: it's like three things. I think it's the fact that
- 5:23Speaker 1: not too many of the popping rappers are gangbanging, you know,
- 5:26Speaker 1: what I mean, like a few of them are, but
- 5:28Speaker 1: not too many of them are. Two. I feel like
- 5:33Speaker 1: we had a lot to do with it as far
- 5:34Speaker 1: as booking shows. We book everybody on the lineup. Everybody
- 5:37Speaker 1: comes and meets each other. Okay, that guy's cool, Okay,
- 5:40Speaker 1: rights up, you know what I mean. It's just like
- 5:41Speaker 1: a community gets built after a while. And then the
- 5:45Speaker 1: other is just like the fact that everybody's winning, everybody's eating,
- 5:50Speaker 1: Like you can't really be that mad when you have
- 5:52Speaker 1: money in your pocket, you know what I mean. And
- 5:53Speaker 1: like it's like, yeah, this dude is like selling Hello
- 5:56Speaker 1: albums or whatever. He's like everyone signed a TK. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:01Speaker 1: that has something to do with it. Yeah, But it's like,
- 6:04Speaker 1: you know, if everybody's really winning and it's not a
- 6:07Speaker 1: bunch of like hungry people, like there's not much to
- 6:10Speaker 1: fight about, you know what I'm saying. So I feel
- 6:11Speaker 1: like it's like those three factors. Yeah, I think too.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Like what I thought was really important and dope was
- 6:18Speaker 1: when Grido and RJ did the show and nothing happened.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Oh that was incredible. I like that fact that that
- 6:26Speaker 1: was insane and I was like, I'm not going to
- 6:28Speaker 1: that show. Yeah, I remember me and headwards head was like,
- 6:31Speaker 1: I'm not going to that. Fuck that ship. And then
- 6:35Speaker 1: the next day it was like, yo, that ship was
- 6:37Speaker 1: a beautiful situation. That was like the first versus down
- 6:40Speaker 1: there low key if you think about it, and the
- 6:42Speaker 1: fact that like nothing happened like it almost kind of
- 6:44Speaker 1: like to me, kind of showed everybody like, hey, look
- 6:46Speaker 1: you cause you know with LA that the certain shit
- 6:48Speaker 1: is just it seems as if it's impossible to change, right,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and something like that to me showed everybody like, hey,
- 6:57Speaker 1: look like there's another way to go about this. All
- 6:59Speaker 1: of the whole were there, nothing happened. It's you know,
- 7:02Speaker 1: at the end of the day, it's just like they're
- 7:03Speaker 1: getting money. So what again? Was there like there's not
- 7:06Speaker 1: too much to be mad about. You know, who do
- 7:08Speaker 1: you consider uh, out of the last five years in
- 7:12Speaker 1: LA hip hop to be like the guy like the goat? Uh?
- 7:19Speaker 1: I mean it's like I would think Draco, you know,
- 7:23Speaker 1: but also like on a major, major scale, I would
- 7:25Speaker 1: say Roddy. Yeah. I mean, let's say, let's sake Riddy okay,
- 7:28Speaker 1: because he's two years okay, so that I'll say Draco.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Draco because he went to jail for three years, got
- 7:33Speaker 1: his spot back and elevated if anything, like, oh yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 1: he's going crazy, you know what I'm saying, Like that's
- 7:37Speaker 1: what I was just talking to him about like last week.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'm like, bro, like you were gone for three years,
- 7:42Speaker 1: but really more almost like five because before he came
- 7:46Speaker 1: out for like two months, he was locked up for
- 7:49Speaker 1: like another like a year and a half like before then.
- 7:52Speaker 1: So like for the majority of the past five years
- 7:54Speaker 1: he's been locked up and his career is just still booming.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You know. He got out and just got to it.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Mm hmm. I think he had Like I felt like
- 8:00Speaker 1: he recorded an album like it was already done. Like
- 8:02Speaker 1: a WEEKND was like him. I was like, bro, you're
- 8:05Speaker 1: you got out of jailing with straight to the booths,
- 8:08Speaker 1: straight to literally straight to it. And so you know,
- 8:11Speaker 1: but everybody you know gives him that that respect though,
- 8:15Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like everybody, yeah, like shit,
- 8:17Speaker 1: he's doing it well, can we say, you know, he's
- 8:19Speaker 1: really like him? And then if he co signs an
- 8:21Speaker 1: artist like that artist starts to blow and stuff like that.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So with the Latin ship that's going on, I saw
- 8:26Speaker 1: you were just part of that. Photos a lot of
- 8:30Speaker 1: the lat like Mexican guys who were in town, C
- 8:32Speaker 1: and G and all those guys. But you know, there's
- 8:35Speaker 1: a whole nother movement going on there that's fucking amazing
- 8:38Speaker 1: out of Lay just in general. But what what it like? Like,
- 8:43Speaker 1: what do you think when it comes to like because
- 8:46Speaker 1: I always said, like when I was growing up, like
- 8:50Speaker 1: when I thought I'm from Phoenix, so MC magic was
- 8:52Speaker 1: like god right, oh yeah, And I was like, you know,
- 8:54Speaker 1: working at car shows and ship but like the Mexican
- 8:57Speaker 1: rap that was really popular was the Chicano rap. And
- 9:02Speaker 1: to me, I mean Little Rock got classics. MC Magic
- 9:05Speaker 1: got classics. But I always felt like there was ad
- 9:11Speaker 1: you had to be. It was almost like made specifically
- 9:14Speaker 1: for for for for the people who got that. Yeah,
- 9:17Speaker 1: it wasn't very inclusive to random. I feel like like
- 9:20Speaker 1: a lot of the new Latin MC's that are doing
- 9:22Speaker 1: their thing, like they make dope shit and they happen
- 9:24Speaker 1: to be Mexican. That's really the key, you know what
- 9:27Speaker 1: I mean? Because a lot of like me growing up,
- 9:29Speaker 1: like I had like a period of time where I
- 9:31Speaker 1: did like the Chicano wrap stuff. I was into them
- 9:33Speaker 1: C Magics and and all that, But then I just
- 9:35Speaker 1: kind of grew out of it because I wasn't like
- 9:38Speaker 1: a gang banger. I didn't relate too much of the things.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I liked the music, you know, but like it's almost
- 9:44Speaker 1: like it's in such like a cult like fan base
- 9:49Speaker 1: that you couldn't really get out of that box. And
- 9:51Speaker 1: they could have a million views, like fucking High Power Records.
- 9:53Speaker 1: High Power Records, shit, I bet records. They'd have them
- 9:57Speaker 1: booths that the fucking car shows. The ships would be booming,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and then they have random albums with like Busy Bone
- 10:02Speaker 1: and Ship. Yeah they were, they were doing it on
- 10:04Speaker 1: the independence hid you could buy them at like warehouse,
- 10:06Speaker 1: shoesell and Ship. Like, But yeah, I think that like
- 10:09Speaker 1: that's something that like it's like now there's artists where
- 10:12Speaker 1: it's like, yo, you could be a fan of this
- 10:13Speaker 1: guy and be you know whoever. You don't have to
- 10:16Speaker 1: be a Mexican to like, you know, like the music
- 10:18Speaker 1: is just good, you know. That's yeah, that's the whole goal.
- 10:20Speaker 1: And that's what I see everybody doing. Like we had
- 10:22Speaker 1: like that meeting yesterday and it was dope because yeah,
- 10:25Speaker 1: like they're just dope artists who happened to be Mexican
- 10:27Speaker 1: that some of them probably don't even speak Spanish, like
- 10:30Speaker 1: they don't incorporate Spanish into their lyrics or anything like that.
- 10:32Speaker 1: It's just like they grew up in La. They're Mexican.
- 10:35Speaker 1: They have you know, homies that are black, white, Chinese everything,
- 10:38Speaker 1: you know, and they just they rap like you know,
- 10:40Speaker 1: and they're good. What was give us the inside of
- 10:43Speaker 1: the meeting yesterday because I saw a few people post it. Yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 1: it was. It was pretty dope. Basically, we pulled up
- 10:49Speaker 1: to uh Abner Mars, you know a fighter. Yeah, he
- 10:51Speaker 1: has a spot in like Bell Gardens restaurant, and so
- 10:55Speaker 1: we all just pulled up and basically like they're just planning.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I mean, like the cool thing is that everybody knows
- 11:01Speaker 1: each other, but it's it was like still like a
- 11:03Speaker 1: mixer because you're still meeting people face to face and
- 11:06Speaker 1: feeling people's energy and stuff like that. But like they're
- 11:09Speaker 1: planning on doing like a cipher fire, you know what
- 11:12Speaker 1: I mean, like something like that to where everybody gets
- 11:14Speaker 1: on a song and then possibly you know, go on
- 11:17Speaker 1: like a tour. All LA artists, yeah, all LA. Well,
- 11:20Speaker 1: there's some like little weirdos from like San Diego. And
- 11:22Speaker 1: then there's great name by the way, I know right yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 1: in La it was like a little weird he's a
- 11:27Speaker 1: great guy. It's funny. I'm like, what she can change
- 11:30Speaker 1: the name that sounds like that. That sounds like he
- 11:32Speaker 1: might have had a Caponi record back the day, like
- 11:34Speaker 1: little Weirdo features sounds right, by the way, mister Caponi
- 11:39Speaker 1: not Mexican, not Mexican at all. I think it's from Iran.
- 11:41Speaker 1: He's Iranian. He's our Indian by the way. Doesn't take
- 11:44Speaker 1: away from like you know, he's he's man. But but
- 11:48Speaker 1: I when I found out, I was like, really, it
- 11:49Speaker 1: blew everybody's mind. When I was like, nah, that's a joke,
- 11:51Speaker 1: like somebody's trolling or something, I was like, no, it's
- 11:53Speaker 1: really real. And I met him and then like super
- 11:55Speaker 1: nice guy. Yeah yeah, And then I'm just kind of
- 11:57Speaker 1: looking like yeah, it's probably yeah, yeah, he's Indian. So
- 12:01Speaker 1: coming out it is there gonna be like a compilation
- 12:03Speaker 1: project or is it just gonna just like almost like
- 12:06Speaker 1: an open network where now we all know each other,
- 12:08Speaker 1: now we can all work together that it's that. I
- 12:10Speaker 1: don't think there's gonna be like a whole album. Possibly
- 12:12Speaker 1: I mean that was probably only like the second meeting
- 12:15Speaker 1: in the first one I attended. So I think the
- 12:18Speaker 1: goal is just to like to get on a tour
- 12:20Speaker 1: and tour across the nation, you know what I mean? Like, Hey,
- 12:23Speaker 1: what up man? How to interrupt the Bootleg cap podcast
- 12:25Speaker 1: to tell you about our good friends at odd socks.
- 12:29Speaker 1: All right, yo, shout out to them for sponsoring the podcast.

- 13:13Speaker 1: at checkout. So odd socksofficial dot com, keyword Bootleg, keV
- 13:17Speaker 1: save twenty percent at checkout, Think me Later. So you
- 13:20Speaker 1: also have put out like rosecrans av music, right, is
- 13:26Speaker 1: that something that you're actively working on maybe a whole
- 13:32Speaker 1: I want to do a new album, I really do,
- 13:35Speaker 1: but it's just like takes up so much time. Like
- 13:38Speaker 1: it was also dealing with dealing. I mean, look I
- 13:40Speaker 1: put out I put it out a mixtape in twenty thirteen. Yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 1: twenty one song. It was all original. It was a
- 13:45Speaker 1: fucking pain in o god. It was a lot because
- 13:49Speaker 1: you like you're not the artist, so like you have
- 13:51Speaker 1: to clear every single and you just I think I
- 13:53Speaker 1: think singles is the way to go, man, yeah, because
- 13:56Speaker 1: then you get all cool, we got one done, all right,
- 13:57Speaker 1: let's drop it. You're trying to putting out a whole project. Yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 1: I have a distribution label with me and Kelly, so
- 14:04Speaker 1: we put out singles, like we just put out one
- 14:06Speaker 1: with like Youngto and Big Swift and Jakarta Slim, so
- 14:09Speaker 1: that was pretty dope. We put it out like a
- 14:11Speaker 1: month ago, So that's cool like that. But I do
- 14:14Speaker 1: want to work on an album, but I know I'm
- 14:16Speaker 1: gonna have to like book out, like blackout like two
- 14:19Speaker 1: months of my schedule or something to like I'm gonna
- 14:21Speaker 1: just get this shit done, to ignore damn near everything else.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Who's somebody in La right now that we don't know
- 14:26Speaker 1: that we're that you think has got all the tools
- 14:28Speaker 1: to be the next star to La Remble Ramble You
- 14:32Speaker 1: heard of Rambul? I have not. So he got a
- 14:35Speaker 1: Draco co sign. He almost sounds a little like Draco,
- 14:38Speaker 1: but I feel like everyone sounds a little one yeah
- 14:40Speaker 1: at this point. But he he's twenty years old and
- 14:44Speaker 1: like he has probably like four songs out, but you
- 14:47Speaker 1: can tell how smart he is, how like his wordplay
- 14:52Speaker 1: and everything is like just next level. He did a
- 14:56Speaker 1: song called like a Ted Talk and then the video
- 14:59Speaker 1: is like him doing like a Ted Talk and then
- 15:01Speaker 1: he's like thank you all for listening. Like it's just
- 15:04Speaker 1: he's on like the next level like creativity, especially for
- 15:06Speaker 1: being that young. And he's like, you know, street dude,
- 15:10Speaker 1: So he has that element to him. And yeah, like
- 15:14Speaker 1: labels are already like on his head. Yeah. So I honestly,
- 15:18Speaker 1: if I were like to put my money on anybody, yeah,
- 15:20Speaker 1: And I have no affiliation. I've never spoken to him anything.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I just you don't even know. No, is it like,
- 15:26Speaker 1: like have you noticed, Like because you've built yourself into
- 15:28Speaker 1: a position where you're a lot of people look to
- 15:30Speaker 1: you in the LA scene, Like is it like a
- 15:33Speaker 1: gifting a curse? Yeah, sometimes, because you know, people will
- 15:37Speaker 1: be mad if like I don't fuck with them or something,
- 15:39Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like, isn't that crazy? Like
- 15:41Speaker 1: you can tell someone like, hey, man, do your thing,
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm not a fan of the music, but like and
- 15:45Speaker 1: they'll like hate, like they'll take that personal, like you
- 15:47Speaker 1: want me to just like lie or like if I
- 15:49Speaker 1: don't want to pull up to like studio sessions or
- 15:51Speaker 1: like it's just like I don't want to listen to
- 15:53Speaker 1: shitty music for like two hours, Like what do you
- 15:55Speaker 1: want me to do? Someone just asked me about you.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I think it was my boy Ace about Beans. Oh yeah, okay, Like,
- 16:05Speaker 1: hey you know this rosecrans dude. I was like, rosecrans
- 16:08Speaker 1: Vig He's like I think so He's like, yeah, he's
- 16:10Speaker 1: the worth happening to me. I was like, yeah, man,
- 16:11Speaker 1: he's fucking living la man. I was like, Beans is crazy.
- 16:16Speaker 1: She's fine. What give me your cause? I think obviously
- 16:19Speaker 1: the odd most obvious next Superstar to Las Blast, you
- 16:24Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Yeah, aside from that, that's like obvious,
- 16:26Speaker 1: but like that's like the no brain, He's out of here,
- 16:30Speaker 1: you know, Like you know, Head had put me on
- 16:35Speaker 1: the Blast a long time ago because his Head tried
- 16:37Speaker 1: to sign Blast and uh, yeah, the dude's out of here,
- 16:43Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like, like, were you like
- 16:46Speaker 1: hip to Blast like before he was before he put
- 16:49Speaker 1: out the like the tape with Beano or was that
- 16:52Speaker 1: something because like, man, you know he does it all. Yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I wasn't as hip to him as I as I
- 16:58Speaker 1: would like to be. Like I had heard the name.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I definitely had. I had heard a song called I
- 17:04Speaker 1: Think like Fallen and this was like and then there's
- 17:08Speaker 1: another one called Body, and I was just like, damn,
- 17:11Speaker 1: these are dope, but I just listened to the singles.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I didn't really like go the extra mount and like
- 17:15Speaker 1: look him up on YouTube or all you know all that.
- 17:19Speaker 1: But then going back like after he put out the
- 17:21Speaker 1: song with Bino and the tape and everything, then I
- 17:25Speaker 1: like was like, oh I had heard of him before
- 17:28Speaker 1: because he was in a group called King and Blast
- 17:32Speaker 1: and it was like a duo but like to me,
- 17:35Speaker 1: like and there, and they presented themselves as like ie
- 17:38Speaker 1: artists and then that King dude like no shade, like
- 17:41Speaker 1: he just wasn't very good. So like I think that
- 17:44Speaker 1: was like it probably came across my radar, but it
- 17:47Speaker 1: wasn't memorable because I heard like one whack dude and
- 17:49Speaker 1: was just like, yeah, I'm good. And you know, it's
- 17:51Speaker 1: just stuff like that happens. Because there's like a song
- 17:53Speaker 1: from probably like two years ago that I went back
- 17:55Speaker 1: and looked up and I was like, dude, this song
- 17:58Speaker 1: is the blast. Part of this song is incredible and
- 18:00Speaker 1: then the other and it has like two thousand views
- 18:02Speaker 1: to this day probably, So it's just and it's it's
- 18:05Speaker 1: something like that. But I wish I would have been
- 18:07Speaker 1: more hip on him, but he wasn't putting out solo
- 18:09Speaker 1: music for that long before he blew up. Really nah,
- 18:11Speaker 1: for sure, you got the show on No Jumper Mad
- 18:15Speaker 1: lately about to do thirty episodes or just we just
- 18:18Speaker 1: hit thirty. We just hit thirty yep. So congrats on that.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Once a week, yeah, every Monday, So
- 18:24Speaker 1: every Monday, it's you, Gabe. See I forget the young
- 18:26Speaker 1: lady's name is Ginaviews. How did that come come to be? So? Adam?
- 18:31Speaker 1: I know, I've been knowing Adam for like three years now, no,
- 18:36Speaker 1: probably four, Yeah, for since like twenty seventeen, like around
- 18:39Speaker 1: the time where like Shoreline was blowing up, Greto, all them.
- 18:42Speaker 1: We just kept running into each other and I had
- 18:46Speaker 1: them on my podcast once and then after that, I
- 18:50Speaker 1: would just like send them emails of like dope videos
- 18:53Speaker 1: that I thought were dope, and then he'd be like, cool,
- 18:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna put this on the No Jump or YouTube.
- 18:56Speaker 1: And I just kept like a constant line of communication
- 18:58Speaker 1: with him for a while, and you know, like we'd
- 19:02Speaker 1: run into each other certain places. I think he started
- 19:04Speaker 1: to grow like more of a respect for me, because
- 19:07Speaker 1: a lot of places he would be I would be
- 19:09Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like I wasn't rolling out
- 19:10Speaker 1: of Miami. He wasn't rolling out of Miami. I wasn't
- 19:13Speaker 1: rolling out of New York. He was there any concerts
- 19:15Speaker 1: backstage like he see me. I was just hustling, you
- 19:17Speaker 1: know what I mean. So, like we just grew like
- 19:20Speaker 1: a cool relationship, and then at the beginning of twenty twenty,
- 19:24Speaker 1: he like said he wanted to meet went to his
- 19:27Speaker 1: office and then he was like, yeah, I want you
- 19:28Speaker 1: to do like a podcast or something. He's like, not
- 19:31Speaker 1: rosecrans radio. I want you to do something different. And
- 19:33Speaker 1: I was like all right, cool, and then like COVID
- 19:35Speaker 1: happened and then so like everything just kind of pushed
- 19:38Speaker 1: back and all that stuff. And then he hit me
- 19:39Speaker 1: again in like August, I want to say August or
- 19:43Speaker 1: September and was like, hey, you know, did you want
- 19:45Speaker 1: to do that podcast? Still? Like we're about to, you know,
- 19:48Speaker 1: have some more podcasts on here. And I was like
- 19:51Speaker 1: fuck yeah, And I said, give me like three four
- 19:53Speaker 1: days to come up with like a concept and a
- 19:56Speaker 1: name and everything. And so came up with the name,
- 20:00Speaker 1: recruited my co host, you know, I hit Gina, I
- 20:02Speaker 1: hit Gabe, and then we did like a photo shoot
- 20:05Speaker 1: and I shot everything to him in like three four days.
- 20:07Speaker 1: He was like, oh shit. I was like ready to go. Yeah,
- 20:09Speaker 1: He's like, you guys are ready to go. I'm like, yeah,
- 20:10Speaker 1: we're fucking ready to go. What's some because you were
- 20:13Speaker 1: doing the rosecrans radio. What is like the like something
- 20:15Speaker 1: that you learned doing because it's kind of a different
- 20:18Speaker 1: type of thing. So like, yeah, you know, with any
- 20:21Speaker 1: with anything, you get better as time goes. But what's
- 20:22Speaker 1: something you had to kind of like learn from making
- 20:26Speaker 1: the switch and doing Mad Lately streamed on youtubes or
- 20:30Speaker 1: people commenting Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's just a way
- 20:32Speaker 1: different platform, So I approach it differently. Like rosecrans radio
- 20:36Speaker 1: was just like me interviewing artists or talking, you know,
- 20:40Speaker 1: not too deeply. I wasn't really trying to like make
- 20:43Speaker 1: people laugh anything too much. Like it was just kind
- 20:46Speaker 1: of like a I wanted to had like a more
- 20:48Speaker 1: serious tone on there, I guess you could say. But
- 20:50Speaker 1: then I'm like, okay, we're going to a jumper, like
- 20:52Speaker 1: they have a certain audience. So yeah, you guys are
- 20:54Speaker 1: definitely shooting the shit now, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:56Speaker 1: So I'm like, we have to turn it up to
- 20:58Speaker 1: a certain extent or people are gonna call us boring
- 21:00Speaker 1: or whatever. And the funny thing is that, like the
- 21:03Speaker 1: way I am I'm Mad Lately, like that's really the
- 21:06Speaker 1: real mes you Yeah, you know what I'm saying when
- 21:07Speaker 1: I'm out with my homies and stuff like that. So
- 21:09Speaker 1: I'm like, fuck it, I'm gonna just put myself on
- 21:10Speaker 1: display and like it like ruins my life, but it
- 21:13Speaker 1: like makes it way better at the same time because
- 21:15Speaker 1: I'm a little too honest sometimes and it's dope, you know.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Shout out to Gabe, who's somebody who's very underrated figure
- 21:23Speaker 1: and now, oh yeah, definitely. I always say he's kind
- 21:26Speaker 1: of like Power one oh six is like sauce. Yeah,
- 21:29Speaker 1: like a lot of that ship that gets played late
- 21:30Speaker 1: at night. Hell yeah, put all them dudes on for
- 21:34Speaker 1: I'd be tricking gave into liking some ships and we
- 21:36Speaker 1: were trying to steal into Real ninety two three for
- 21:38Speaker 1: a while. I heard about that. He was definitely trying. Yeah,
- 21:41Speaker 1: but yeah, no, shout out to him. What's next for
- 21:45Speaker 1: obviously you want to put out more music, but what
- 21:46Speaker 1: is next for your platform and for you just doing
- 21:50Speaker 1: more shows? We have Don't Come to a La. We
- 21:53Speaker 1: we filmed that, and to give a little backstory, you
- 21:56Speaker 1: did like a south By thing called Don't Come to
- 21:59Speaker 1: l a t. Yeah. So that's so we did a
- 22:00Speaker 1: concert series back in twenty eighteen where we booked everybody
- 22:05Speaker 1: like that's popping in La besides Draco and greeted because
- 22:08Speaker 1: they were locked up but we had like blue Face,
- 22:11Speaker 1: Routchy Azy Chike, one Take Jay, everybody like Hella Early,
- 22:16Speaker 1: So we had all them. We really created that community
- 22:19Speaker 1: Jpriko all them. And we only did five shows, but
- 22:22Speaker 1: every single one of those shows was like incredible. We
- 22:24Speaker 1: had like Scrillicks pull up Dot Kennedy J three oh five,
- 22:28Speaker 1: Like the crowd was even more star studied sometimes than
- 22:32Speaker 1: like the performers. Hey Texas dude back on my phone,
- 22:37Speaker 1: ooh nice, Yeah, Freddie Gibbs pulled up to perform. Wow,
- 22:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like fred pull to perform
- 22:44Speaker 1: with two eleven. Oh it makes sense. Yeah yeah yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 1: so one BPS. Like we just had like a crazy
- 22:51Speaker 1: amount of like special guests always and it was such
- 22:53Speaker 1: a dope vibe. So we made sure to like never
- 22:57Speaker 1: dilute that brand, right, and we only did We only
- 23:00Speaker 1: did it when we knew it could be dope, right.
- 23:02Speaker 1: So we did five and then we did another one
- 23:03Speaker 1: in south By. That's when we brought out Reason, We
- 23:07Speaker 1: brought out Rouchie Kaalin, We just nardwar pulled up like
- 23:11Speaker 1: it was crazy. It was incredible. Andrew Barber was there,
- 23:14Speaker 1: like it was an incredible show. And we've been for
- 23:17Speaker 1: the last two years, we've been trying to put it
- 23:19Speaker 1: together to do it again, but like conflicting schedules. Cyprus
- 23:22Speaker 1: was on tour for like two years straight with Troline,
- 23:26Speaker 1: Jeff and I were busy. So this past weekend we
- 23:30Speaker 1: just recorded, like we're gonna do like a live stream
- 23:33Speaker 1: type thing, yeah, but also we're gonna make it more
- 23:36Speaker 1: like of a documentary like I guess you could say
- 23:38Speaker 1: like a almost like a fade to Black. I mean,
- 23:43Speaker 1: that's like obviously the best case in course of course,
- 23:45Speaker 1: but something like that, you know what I mean, to
- 23:48Speaker 1: document document the old shows, put interviews in there, you
- 23:52Speaker 1: know what I mean, all that stuff, so like really
- 23:54Speaker 1: make it like a timeless piece that people can watch
- 23:56Speaker 1: twenty years from now and be like, oh, Okay, this
- 23:59Speaker 1: was this era, you know. So like we filmed the
- 24:02Speaker 1: performance aspects of it. Probably in about two weeks, we're
- 24:04Speaker 1: going to perform, like we're gonna do the interviews right
- 24:07Speaker 1: and just you know, have the editors put all the
- 24:10Speaker 1: sauce on it and then hopefully release it like in June.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Last thing, where do you see LA going music wise
- 24:15Speaker 1: in the next five years? Like like because I always say,
- 24:18Speaker 1: like there's been so many artists who I thought should
- 24:23Speaker 1: have been bigger to come out of LA over the
- 24:25Speaker 1: last ten years or so, like someone like Joe Moses,
- 24:28Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like there's like guys who
- 24:29Speaker 1: like man like RJ's a perfect example. But I don't
- 24:32Speaker 1: know what the disconnect was that didn't escalate as big
- 24:37Speaker 1: outside of LA as we had hoped. And I think
- 24:40Speaker 1: that's with some of the newer generation. There's some potential there,
- 24:44Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. What do you like, where
- 24:46Speaker 1: do you see things going? Man? I mean, if we
- 24:49Speaker 1: can get by the way RJ and Joe Moses aren't done. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:52Speaker 1: not at all, you know what I mean. But I
- 24:53Speaker 1: think if if LA continues to build like a strong
- 24:56Speaker 1: community and have a lot of like key people behind
- 25:00Speaker 1: the scenes making these moves that will actually cross brand
- 25:04Speaker 1: to with artists in Atlanta, with an artist in like
- 25:07Speaker 1: New York and you know, across the globe, then I
- 25:11Speaker 1: think we have the talent to really like run shit like.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And I'm obviously super biased, but like you have Blast,
- 25:16Speaker 1: you have Bino, you have Kalin, you have all these
- 25:19Speaker 1: artists that don't only make West Coast music no matter
- 25:22Speaker 1: where they're at That's what I'm saying. We have Roddy,
- 25:25Speaker 1: you know. So it's like we have all different types
- 25:27Speaker 1: of artists. We have Draco doing songs with Osuna and
- 25:30Speaker 1: Drake and stuff like that, you know what I mean.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So I honestly like in the next five years, like
- 25:35Speaker 1: everybody stays on their ship, doesn't get complacent, you know,
- 25:39Speaker 1: and happy with just making like ten bands of show
- 25:42Speaker 1: and stuff like that. It's like, I think we could
- 25:44Speaker 1: really run shit there. It is rosecranz Vic Bouakead Podcast.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Appreciate you, bro. Perfect
