- 0:55Speaker 6: certainly will be by Sunday, Yeah for sure. All right,
- 0:58Speaker 6: let's talk to them at CEAA basketball.
- 1:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:01Speaker 8: I guess we'll start off by reminding everybody that the
- 1:04Speaker 8: game tomorrow was moved up to noon.
- 1:06Speaker 6: And why would they do that? What's going on that
- 1:08Speaker 6: would cause that?
- 1:09Speaker 7: Who could?
- 1:09Speaker 6: Yes? Right, if I get one more weather alert, man,
- 1:12Speaker 6: I'm going to go nuts. Wow.
- 1:13Speaker 7: Just a holdout for a couple more days.
- 1:15Speaker 6: Yeah, we'll hopefully be good. So game time change for
- 1:18Speaker 6: game time change.
- 1:19Speaker 8: We'll hear from Bucky previewing that game here in just
- 1:21Speaker 8: a couple of minutes. Around college basketball though, because there's
- 1:25Speaker 8: been some other big news this week, mainly concerning the
- 1:28Speaker 8: University of Alabama. Who is just the latest university that
- 1:32Speaker 8: is going to be in stating a G League player
- 1:34Speaker 8: to their team.
- 1:36Speaker 6: A G League player. So it was a guy left school,
- 1:39Speaker 6: signed and now he's coming back. Sure did?
- 1:42Speaker 9: He couldn't cut it, so you decided I got to
- 1:44Speaker 9: come back to college.
- 1:45Speaker 8: Yeah, Charles Bettiaco. That came out a couple of days ago.
- 1:49Speaker 8: He sued the NCAA after Alabama made an initial request
- 1:54Speaker 8: for eligibility that of course got denied because the guy
- 1:57Speaker 8: went pro.
- 1:58Speaker 7: So he sued a.
- 2:00Speaker 8: Judge in Alabama, who, by the way, I should mention
- 2:03Speaker 8: that this judge is a six figure Alabama booster.
- 2:07Speaker 6: Okay, co option and college sports who would have thought.
- 2:11Speaker 8: Yeah, So obviously, this judge granted Bettiaco a ten day
- 2:16Speaker 8: restraining order that grants him eligibility. I believe he's due
- 2:20Speaker 8: for another appearance or whatever next week to another hear
- 2:24Speaker 8: and codifyd this for the rest of the season. But
- 2:27Speaker 8: he is going to play this weekend for Alabama's game
- 2:30Speaker 8: against Tennessee and presumably for the rest of the season.
- 2:35Speaker 6: Okay, this is kind of ridiculous, Riley, you got thoughts
- 2:37Speaker 6: on this.
- 2:38Speaker 9: My whole take is, if you decided to go pro,
- 2:41Speaker 9: I'm sorry, you don't get to decide just because you
- 2:43Speaker 9: can't cut it at the next level that you need
- 2:45Speaker 9: to come back, so you could try and earn money
- 2:47Speaker 9: and then try and you've already you've already went to
- 2:50Speaker 9: the draft. You can't go into another draft. So what
- 2:52Speaker 9: do you think You're gonna play good in college at
- 2:54Speaker 9: a lower and slower paced level and then all of
- 2:56Speaker 9: a sudden you're gonna go into the pro league and
- 2:57Speaker 9: be like, oh, you played good for two more years
- 2:59Speaker 9: in college, so yeah, now we want you to play
- 3:01Speaker 9: for whatever team he decides to do it.
- 3:03Speaker 8: I think it's just all about the money that he's
- 3:05Speaker 8: going to make. More money nil money playing in college
- 3:08Speaker 8: than he would play get playing in the NBA.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Or ley make some money while you can, because it's
- 3:14Speaker 6: you know, it's pro prospects as we're talking about. Maybe
- 3:17Speaker 6: not great, but he can make some money in college.
- 3:19Speaker 8: And I you know what, I I don't necessarily even
- 3:22Speaker 8: fault him that much for that aspect of it. But
- 3:25Speaker 8: it is completely unfair n double A. I fought the
- 3:29Speaker 8: NC double A. It's completely unfair to the rest of
- 3:32Speaker 8: the players that are doing it the right way. And
- 3:34Speaker 8: it's not just this guy in Alabama. BYU currently has
- 3:38Speaker 8: a G leaguer on their team, and there's other teams
- 3:40Speaker 8: I can't name him off the top of my head
- 3:42Speaker 8: right now that are also playing those Baylor. Yes, So
- 3:45Speaker 8: it's happening around the NC double A. And I'm sure
- 3:47Speaker 8: he's not going to be the last one either.
- 3:48Speaker 6: No, And this is a horrible precedent. I mean, what
- 3:51Speaker 6: a can of worms that opens this up across all
- 3:54Speaker 6: in all the college athletics.
- 3:55Speaker 10: Right.
- 3:56Speaker 9: Well, So he was selected thirty first overall in the
- 3:59Speaker 9: NBA draft his year that he went into it, so
- 4:01Speaker 9: he was a first round pick. Yeah, but he couldn't
- 4:04Speaker 9: cut it. That was the whole thing.
- 4:06Speaker 6: Apparently he couldn't cut it as a student either, because
- 4:09Speaker 6: it's being reported that his GPA was at the Blue
- 4:11Speaker 6: Tarski level of zero point zero.
- 4:14Speaker 9: I have a Carson Back moment where he's I've graduated
- 4:17Speaker 9: two years ago.
- 4:17Speaker 7: I don't do college.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Yeah, this guy started college and didn't do college. But
- 4:22Speaker 6: sounds like some poor choices. But I don't. I'm with you, Ryan,
- 4:25Speaker 6: I do not blame him for getting into it, just
- 4:28Speaker 6: just for the money if he can make the money. Now,
- 4:30Speaker 6: I'm quite certain that perhaps Alabama's boosters and coaches and
- 4:34Speaker 6: whatnot said, hey, come on back, we could use you
- 4:36Speaker 6: because they're not playing at the top of their game
- 4:38Speaker 6: this season.
- 4:38Speaker 8: Yeah, and the judge also made sure to put into
- 4:42Speaker 8: the ruling that the NCAA is not allowed to ban
- 4:45Speaker 8: Alabama from the postseason either, so he made sure to
- 4:49Speaker 8: check all the boxes with this one.
- 4:51Speaker 6: Across the board, aren't judicial system.
- 4:53Speaker 7: Can I mention he's a six figure donor.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Yeah, it's just it's ridiculous, I mean, across the board.
- 4:58Speaker 6: We're not going to get into politics here on the
- 5:00Speaker 6: sports channel, but you guys know what I'm talking about. Yeah,
- 5:02Speaker 6: absolutely crazy, all right, anything else before we hear from
- 5:05Speaker 6: coach mc billan.
- 5:06Speaker 7: Now let's get into Bucky. Hear what he's got to say.
- 5:10Speaker 11: Just talk with Jakari. You know, when you look at
- 5:14Speaker 11: kind of the stretch that he's had, especially when it
- 5:17Speaker 11: comes to assist a turnovers, just what has made him
- 5:20Speaker 11: so effective in that category and just his ability to
- 5:24Speaker 11: facilitate the offense.
- 5:25Speaker 12: You know, some players play to play, some players play
- 5:28Speaker 12: to win. He plays to win. That's why he's won
- 5:33Speaker 12: everywhere he's been. The point guard position probably the most
- 5:37Speaker 12: impactful position as it equates to winning. There's no such
- 5:41Speaker 12: thing as a good point guard that doesn't have a
- 5:43Speaker 12: history of winning. That's kind of like what makes a
- 5:47Speaker 12: point guard great. They know how to win. And he's
- 5:51Speaker 12: won and everywhere he's been being the guy and that's
- 5:54Speaker 12: what makes him special. So just he plays to win
- 5:57Speaker 12: and so he makes winning plays.
- 5:59Speaker 11: He was your first transfer commit just when you guys
- 6:02Speaker 11: were trying to get him here.
- 6:04Speaker 12: Just what was it about.
- 6:05Speaker 11: Him that that you felt like he could have this
- 6:08Speaker 11: kind of impact on your offense?
- 6:10Speaker 12: You know, I know there's been a little adjustment just
- 6:12Speaker 12: going to the SEC you know, and but the same deal,
- 6:16Speaker 12: like if you you know, you heard of coaches recently
- 6:20Speaker 12: in another sport talk about that he recruits players with
- 6:24Speaker 12: production instead of potential. Like he's always produced everywhere he's
- 6:27Speaker 12: been winning wise and statistically, so you know that that
- 6:34Speaker 12: that unchange and he's got a the way that we
- 6:37Speaker 12: play if your guard de size doesn't matter as much
- 6:39Speaker 12: that you're wanting you too, as long as he can
- 6:41Speaker 12: exploit the other team's guard with full court pressure. And
- 6:44Speaker 12: you gotta like the right heart to do that. And
- 6:47Speaker 12: you know he obviously has all that with.
- 6:50Speaker 13: Your coaching eye. What do you see that that you'd say,
- 6:54Speaker 13: this is why Baggies were playing such good basketball.
- 6:57Speaker 12: Now that maybe you see that as a hold enough
- 7:00Speaker 12: people just don't see well, I think you know, we're
- 7:04Speaker 12: playing with maximum effort and we're playing unselfish. Thing. That's
- 7:08Speaker 12: really like in all sports, that's pretty much what it
- 7:11Speaker 12: comes down to. Like, I mean, we can overdo it,
- 7:14Speaker 12: but if you're playing with maximum effort and you're playing unselfish,
- 7:16Speaker 12: you're gonna play with a lot of confidence. And I
- 7:18Speaker 12: think with any team sport, it's really that like and
- 7:22Speaker 12: that starts in practice, like you've given everything you have
- 7:25Speaker 12: in practice and outwork in the competition. So we're doing
- 7:30Speaker 12: I think we are doing that. Our players are doing that.
- 7:33Speaker 12: They're they're playing hard, they're working hard in practice, and
- 7:36Speaker 12: they're together. It's not about them, you know. You hear
- 7:38Speaker 12: the saying you got to lose your individuality for the
- 7:40Speaker 12: sake of the team. And everybody on the team has
- 7:45Speaker 12: to give up something that they want to accomplish that
- 7:47Speaker 12: season for the sake of the team. If you're ever
- 7:49Speaker 12: going to have a true team like you don't have it.
- 7:51Speaker 12: You don't have a team till everyone does that, till
- 7:53Speaker 12: every player on the team gives it something they want
- 7:56Speaker 12: to accomplish that season individually for the sake of the team.
- 8:00Speaker 12: Maybe it's a player wants to start, we're going to
- 8:02Speaker 12: bring you out the bench. Maybe a player wants to
- 8:05Speaker 12: score fifteen, we need to score eight. Maybe a player
- 8:07Speaker 12: wants to be a shooter. We need to be a
- 8:09Speaker 12: screener and a rebounder. And maybe a player wants to
- 8:15Speaker 12: get three minutes a game, but he's got to be
- 8:17Speaker 12: on the scout team. And I really think this team
- 8:21Speaker 12: is into their roles and doing what it takes to
- 8:25Speaker 12: help the team first do well.
- 8:28Speaker 13: Is it maybe unusual or just difficult to assemble a
- 8:35Speaker 13: team like that when you know you're guys coming in
- 8:38Speaker 13: and transfer probably have ideas of what they want to do,
- 8:41Speaker 13: as opposed to the guys that you know, maybe developed
- 8:44Speaker 13: through a program over the course of three or four
- 8:48Speaker 13: of you.
- 8:48Speaker 12: There's no doubt. I mean, I think when you look
- 8:50Speaker 12: at college basketball right now, you don't see teams a
- 8:52Speaker 12: lot of teams with great identities. You don't see a
- 8:55Speaker 12: lot of true teams anymore unless they have retention. You know,
- 8:59Speaker 12: you can look at some of the good teams that
- 9:01Speaker 12: produced right now, those guys they have pretension. I think
- 9:03Speaker 12: that's what you're struggling with college basketball in general. I'm
- 9:06Speaker 12: not saying that we don't have some of the the
- 9:08Speaker 12: most talented that college basketball has ever been probably is,
- 9:12Speaker 12: but I'm not so sure the teams in the early
- 9:14Speaker 12: two thousand wouldn't run these teams, And I really mean that,
- 9:17Speaker 12: because you have players that were part of a program
- 9:20Speaker 12: and would lay it down and die where they freaking
- 9:22Speaker 12: place where they're playing, and maybe not as talented, but
- 9:28Speaker 12: you saw that because you have pretension of players. So
- 9:32Speaker 12: it's a challenge. Obviously, I think our team is where
- 9:36Speaker 12: it needs to be. Though, kind of to what you.
- 9:38Speaker 11: Were saying just a minute ago. Are there any maybe
- 9:40Speaker 11: one or two guys in particular, that have really set aside,
- 9:43Speaker 11: Maybe they're individual preferences for team goals and aspirations that
- 9:47Speaker 11: you've seen just really flourish and have a huge impact.
- 9:51Speaker 12: I think every player has. I think you could ask
- 9:54Speaker 12: that question the other way, and I'm not going to
- 9:56Speaker 12: say any players names, but the players that weren't willing
- 9:59Speaker 12: to to do that early in their lack of success
- 10:05Speaker 12: and also the team's success. So I think that's that's
- 10:10Speaker 12: the thing that's funny about it. The players that are
- 10:12Speaker 12: unwilling to do that and just want to go rogue
- 10:15Speaker 12: and do their own deal. It never works out for
- 10:17Speaker 12: them anyway, right, So like, why would you do that?
- 10:21Speaker 12: You know you want to do something. This is a
- 10:23Speaker 12: this is a team thing. So like why would you
- 10:26Speaker 12: play a team sport? Why wouldn't you just play golf
- 10:30Speaker 12: like this? This is what it is. So like like
- 10:34Speaker 12: I can't coach players that are playing by different rules
- 10:37Speaker 12: like And what I'm meaning about different rules is I'm
- 10:40Speaker 12: under the assumption this is about the team being good.
- 10:44Speaker 12: So we're playing by different rules. It's not going to
- 10:45Speaker 12: work out because I'm not gonna change my mindset, right,
- 10:49Speaker 12: and guess what that's going to give every individual the
- 10:52Speaker 12: chance for them to do well. You know, the saying
- 10:55Speaker 12: is as a coach, you got to look at a
- 10:56Speaker 12: program first team, second, individual third. They said, well, you
- 10:59Speaker 12: don't care about the playing, We care a ton about
- 11:01Speaker 12: the players. But if you ever get that out of order,
- 11:03Speaker 12: every one of those can't flourish. If you keep that
- 11:05Speaker 12: in mind, everybody can flourish. And and I think you know,
- 11:08Speaker 12: obviously building this early, you know, don't everybody everybody wasn't
- 11:14Speaker 12: where they are now mentally, and I think everybody now
- 11:16Speaker 12: is really enjoying being a part of the team.
- 11:20Speaker 14: How much do you maybe change how you motivate the
- 11:23Speaker 14: players or how you guys kind of talk about things
- 11:25Speaker 14: now that maybe yells back aren't quite against the wall
- 11:29Speaker 14: like it were going in the conference play. We know
- 11:31Speaker 14: didn't have any quad one or two wins, and now
- 11:32Speaker 14: you'll have a few and you know, top of the
- 11:36Speaker 14: SEC standings.
- 11:37Speaker 12: Yeah, that's good question, because we're gonna get team's best shots.
- 11:39Speaker 12: And I mean even tomorrow, like we're talking about this team,
- 11:42Speaker 12: this team's one if if I'm correct, and y'all could
- 11:44Speaker 12: look it up. I think the last four times they've
- 11:45Speaker 12: been in here, I distabished. We think we're two and
- 11:50Speaker 12: seven verse and maybe our last nine or three and
- 11:52Speaker 12: nine vers them the last twelve. So uh, this team's
- 11:57Speaker 12: been in every game they've they've played teams well. So
- 12:03Speaker 12: you know, I think that's the biggest thing that we
- 12:05Speaker 12: got to recognize is exactly that you can go start
- 12:09Speaker 12: looking at some of the history in some of these games.
- 12:12Speaker 12: When when teams play late games one day Wednesdays and
- 12:14Speaker 12: early games Fridays versus a team that played Tuesday this
- 12:17Speaker 12: year and start looking at you know, there hadn't been
- 12:20Speaker 12: a team when when yet so far in that Serrenariah
- 12:24Speaker 12: one five with an average point differential by fourteen points,
- 12:28Speaker 12: lose by fourteen points. So why am I saying that
- 12:31Speaker 12: you just like a coach, you're setting this. No, I'm
- 12:32Speaker 12: not setting up. This is what we need to understand
- 12:35Speaker 12: that our backs are gets the wall, and we got
- 12:37Speaker 12: to take on that underdog mentality, and we have an
- 12:39Speaker 12: opportunity to do something that hadn't been done here in
- 12:44Speaker 12: the last four trice. And we also have an opportunity
- 12:46Speaker 12: to do something that no one in the SEC has
- 12:48Speaker 12: done this year on Saturday, which is to play a
- 12:51Speaker 12: late night game on Wednesday and win an early game
- 12:54Speaker 12: on Saturday versus team that played Tuesday. So like that's
- 12:58Speaker 12: kind of how we motivate and look at it.
- 13:01Speaker 14: How much does preparation and kind of schedule change when
- 13:06Speaker 14: you playing eight pm Wednesday and then you think you're
- 13:08Speaker 14: playing two thirty but now it's noon. Does that kind
- 13:11Speaker 14: of mess up with the rhythm at all as opposed
- 13:15Speaker 14: to when you guys have been playing Tuesday Saturday and
- 13:18Speaker 14: it's maybe more of a six pm and a yeah
- 13:21Speaker 14: not game on a Saturday.
- 13:22Speaker 12: Yeah. Well, we prefer whatever our standard is because we're
- 13:25Speaker 12: you know, we're obviously used to it. But at the
- 13:29Speaker 12: end of the day, like you know, we're not asking
- 13:32Speaker 12: our players to all the sudden divert and go, you know,
- 13:36Speaker 12: invade the beaches of Normandy, right, I mean, like when
- 13:40Speaker 12: we're telling them, hey, we're gonna move the game up
- 13:42Speaker 12: two hours, you know, there's some planning, but it's not
- 13:46Speaker 12: it's not that extreme. And so I think that you know,
- 13:51Speaker 12: you like things consistent, but it is what it is.
- 13:53Speaker 12: And I think everybody across the SEC is probably going
- 13:56Speaker 12: to deal with something like that.
- 13:57Speaker 15: This Saturday, both Poping Jit Jakari mentioned kind of a
- 14:01Speaker 15: shift after that some U game that a lot of
- 14:03Speaker 15: people really crystallized and bought in kind of what shift
- 14:07Speaker 15: did you see in the team after that, you know,
- 14:09Speaker 15: and then leading into conference play.
- 14:15Speaker 12: I thought we probably had some some shift before it,
- 14:18Speaker 12: you know, like heading in the right direction. But I
- 14:24Speaker 12: think that I think that in that game, we I
- 14:29Speaker 12: think everybody recognized in that game that no matter what
- 14:35Speaker 12: you do and how hard you play, if you are
- 14:39Speaker 12: not focused in practice and you let details slip, you're
- 14:43Speaker 12: gonna feel like we did in that locker room after
- 14:45Speaker 12: that SU game because we did everything we did, fought back,
- 14:49Speaker 12: guns blazing, all that from a depthsit to have a
- 14:51Speaker 12: four point lead, and then the details of what we
- 14:54Speaker 12: had practiced allowed allowed them to when the game with
- 15:00Speaker 12: our turnovers and there are certain details with press break
- 15:03Speaker 12: that we had some guys who were out probably should
- 15:07Speaker 12: have been more focused on what we were doing. Strategically,
- 15:10Speaker 12: we're in the right spots and we're able to use
- 15:13Speaker 12: that as an example of how important is that you
- 15:15Speaker 12: do your job, because the margins are so small that
- 15:20Speaker 12: if you do your job right, eighty percent of the time,
- 15:24Speaker 12: it's not gonna work for it's good teams, right, And
- 15:27Speaker 12: the same deal with everybody. If you show up to
- 15:28Speaker 12: work eight out of ten days, probably not gonna have
- 15:31Speaker 12: a job. You're not gonna be a successful organization. And
- 15:34Speaker 12: so above all that, I think we learned that more.
- 15:37Speaker 11: Jacari he had mentioned how his jump to the SEC's
- 15:41Speaker 11: really had to increase some of this physicality. Just what
- 15:43Speaker 11: have you seen from him in that regard And is
- 15:45Speaker 11: there going to game so far this season or even
- 15:48Speaker 11: a conference play that's really stood out his ability to
- 15:51Speaker 11: go toe to toe fysicality wise.
- 15:53Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean he's learning that he's got to use
- 15:55Speaker 12: the size cudent advantage in the full court, you know.
- 15:58Speaker 12: And then obviously since he's small and quicker like he
- 16:02Speaker 12: doesn't he needs to. You know, if you're small, if
- 16:05Speaker 12: you're small, you going to be quick and fast?
- 16:07Speaker 16: You don't.
- 16:07Speaker 12: You don't want to allow them to use their physicality
- 16:09Speaker 12: on you. So you need a great separation to maintain separation.
- 16:13Speaker 12: And that's what you see him out of these ball
- 16:15Speaker 12: screens and all this stuff. He's not you know, he's
- 16:17Speaker 12: not gonna let guys just crowd them you know. And
- 16:20Speaker 12: but the thing with Jakari, it's not like Jakari grew
- 16:24Speaker 12: up playing as a player who was six feet tall
- 16:29Speaker 12: in high school and was playing against guys that were
- 16:31Speaker 12: smaller than them, and he then he so he's had
- 16:34Speaker 12: to learn their adabt being small. He's been smaller player
- 16:37Speaker 12: his whole life, you know, So like he knows how
- 16:40Speaker 12: to deal with that. The guys who struggle are those
- 16:42Speaker 12: guys that were they grew to six four in the
- 16:45Speaker 12: sixth grade and never grew another inch. Then it's like
- 16:48Speaker 12: they don't know what to do. Like Cary knows what
- 16:51Speaker 12: he's been been a his size of that whole his
- 16:53Speaker 12: whole life.
- 16:54Speaker 13: Does the mother in law defense have to be applied
- 16:57Speaker 13: to Michie Johnson too?
- 16:58Speaker 12: It's got to be applied to everybody. You know, Hey,
- 17:01Speaker 12: the mother in law's imply it to everybody. Do they
- 17:04Speaker 12: apply to they apply that constant nagging her and harassment
- 17:07Speaker 12: at all times? Of course they do. So we're gotta
- 17:09Speaker 12: do the same deal.
- 17:10Speaker 13: But especially because Josh Hupper was such a focal point
- 17:15Speaker 13: Mississippi State, and what they want to do is meet
- 17:18Speaker 13: you similar.
- 17:20Speaker 12: He's just yeah, he's a great guard. I mean you know,
- 17:22Speaker 12: just a really really good guard attacker can score different ways,
- 17:28Speaker 12: got shooters around him. You know, it's a tough matchup.
- 17:32Speaker 12: So anytime this league, I mean, you're gonna see great
- 17:35Speaker 12: guard play. And I mean it's just not a coincidence
- 17:37Speaker 12: that you know, you'll see South Carolina, you know, I
- 17:41Speaker 12: mean they were beaten. Were they beating LSU by thirty
- 17:44Speaker 12: at their place at one point? I mean fifty to
- 17:47Speaker 12: twenty two? I mean at LSU. No, we weren't beating
- 17:49Speaker 12: them like that here at home. So, like, I mean,
- 17:53Speaker 12: guards in this league, man, they cut your lights out quick.
- 17:57Speaker 17: After the Mississippi State game, Christians talked about how Hubbard wore.
- 18:02Speaker 15: Down mentally just playing against your system.
- 18:06Speaker 17: You've talked a lot about how you know it causes
- 18:09Speaker 17: fateen physically, but how does kind of playing it can
- 18:13Speaker 17: still really where teams and where teams plays down on
- 18:16Speaker 17: the mental front.
- 18:18Speaker 12: Well, I mean, you know, I don't I don't want
- 18:21Speaker 12: to speak to other teams, but I know this that
- 18:25Speaker 12: that the physical effects the mental, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:29Speaker 12: And like, toughness is obviously a big part of the
- 18:32Speaker 12: game of basketball, and I think when coaches we talk
- 18:35Speaker 12: about toughness. People think toughness sometimes they misconstrue it as
- 18:41Speaker 12: like seventh grade toughness, sixth grade toughness, which is like, ma,
- 18:45Speaker 12: you know, this guy said something to me. I'm gonna
- 18:47Speaker 12: go I'm gonna go fight him, you know what I'm saying,
- 18:49Speaker 12: like or like you know this guy, you know, he
- 18:52Speaker 12: kind of pushed me. So I'm gonna get a technical
- 18:53Speaker 12: foul and show him that is my house, right, Like
- 18:56Speaker 12: that's like the weakest thing ever, Like that's some mentally
- 19:00Speaker 12: weak is soft as stuff ever that if you have
- 19:02Speaker 12: to that, if you don't get it, that they can
- 19:04Speaker 12: mentally take you out of your game like that. So
- 19:05Speaker 12: I'm not going to speak on other teams, but I
- 19:08Speaker 12: speak to our teams that I expect them that there
- 19:12Speaker 12: is no such thing as getting tired, Like you just
- 19:17Speaker 12: can't get tired. And what I mean by that is
- 19:20Speaker 12: like Rip Potando is a great coach, and he said
- 19:22Speaker 12: that he wanted certain things out of players, and he
- 19:24Speaker 12: said he wants great athletes. He said, what do you
- 19:26Speaker 12: mean by a great athlete? A great athlete is the
- 19:28Speaker 12: one that doesn't get tired. So like, you know, you'll
- 19:30Speaker 12: hear this mental weakness by by players. And I'm not
- 19:33Speaker 12: talking about another team. You know, I've coached some of
- 19:35Speaker 12: these players early. It's like, what I was tired, Like
- 19:40Speaker 12: just let's just let's just make that synonymous with soft.
- 19:44Speaker 12: Why that happen? Because I'm soft? And if you start
- 19:47Speaker 12: looking at it that way, then you'll stop getting tired
- 19:49Speaker 12: and using that as an excuse to be tired, right
- 19:52Speaker 12: And I think that's when you when you feel that
- 19:55Speaker 12: you're winding, you got to lock in more mentally than ever,
- 19:58Speaker 12: Like you really got to find yourself, really lock in
- 20:00Speaker 12: more mentally than ever. If you're driving home at four
- 20:02Speaker 12: am and you're really sleepy, right now is not the
- 20:06Speaker 12: time to get tired. Now is the time to mentally
- 20:08Speaker 12: be like I got to be like a lot and
- 20:10Speaker 12: dialed in. And so that's what we want out of
- 20:12Speaker 12: our players. I'm sure all coaches from other teams probably
- 20:15Speaker 12: would say the same thing. What makes this.
- 20:17Speaker 15: Team look like a tournament team right now? For you?
- 20:19Speaker 11: Besides the confidence and the identity.
- 20:27Speaker 12: I think I think that we got good players. I
- 20:29Speaker 12: think we have older players. I think we can win
- 20:32Speaker 12: a multitude of ways. I think that we're playing really
- 20:35Speaker 12: good defense right now, which travels I think that if
- 20:39Speaker 12: that if we continue to play well and prove ourselves
- 20:43Speaker 12: in this league, we can obviously do it worse anybody.
- 20:45Speaker 12: I think that what we have and the way that
- 20:49Speaker 12: we play, we could beat anybody. I really believe that that.
- 20:54Speaker 12: It's just we're not playing just we're not some of
- 20:58Speaker 12: the really great teams in the country who have great players.
- 21:01Speaker 12: They may have some teams out there that have some
- 21:02Speaker 12: better players, let's just call it. You know, maybe you
- 21:04Speaker 12: play against them, that's five NBA players, but we're not
- 21:07Speaker 12: going to play them the same in the same game necessarily, right,
- 21:12Speaker 12: you know what I mean? Like if I always do
- 21:14Speaker 12: football terms, like if one team is great at the
- 21:17Speaker 12: power eye on defense, I mean on offense and football,
- 21:21Speaker 12: and they run the same you know whatever defense in football,
- 21:25Speaker 12: and you have worse players and you do the exact
- 21:27Speaker 12: same thing, you're probably gonna lose. Right, But what we
- 21:30Speaker 12: do was spreading the floor with our shooters everywhere. You know,
- 21:36Speaker 12: we can do that with anybody. And now that we're
- 21:39Speaker 12: defending at a high level, I think that not only
- 21:43Speaker 12: do I think are we trying to get to the
- 21:46Speaker 12: n SAY tournament and win enough games in the league,
- 21:49Speaker 12: We're trying to win every game in the league. You
- 21:51Speaker 12: know what I'm saying, Like, that's our mindset, Like we
- 21:54Speaker 12: want to do the things you can do that give
- 21:55Speaker 12: you that opportunity, not focus on winning, but doing the
- 21:58Speaker 12: things you can do because we feel if we do that,
- 22:00Speaker 12: we're gonna have a great chance. We should have been in
- 22:01Speaker 12: any game and we would say that, you know, if
- 22:04Speaker 12: we can do it in this so you can do
- 22:05Speaker 12: it first anybody.
- 22:06Speaker 14: There's also improvement defensively. Does I have to do it
- 22:09Speaker 14: just gel and time in the system, or is there
- 22:12Speaker 14: another tweet that you guys have maybe made to help.
- 22:15Speaker 15: You guys improve.
- 22:16Speaker 12: I think that the biggest thing is what you said
- 22:20Speaker 12: and that we did not adjust anything. You know what
- 22:23Speaker 12: I'm saying. I think that's probably more than important. Like
- 22:25Speaker 12: why are we good at what we do now? Because
- 22:27Speaker 12: we continue to do what we do. And I've coached
- 22:30Speaker 12: how basketball long enough and been a part of sports
- 22:33Speaker 12: long enough. The worst thing you can do is if
- 22:37Speaker 12: you believe the benefits of being a head coach a
- 22:40Speaker 12: long time, is you know what you believe in? Right,
- 22:44Speaker 12: there's this this this coach that told me this one time.
- 22:47Speaker 12: It's like a seventh grade mindset but it's like, know
- 22:50Speaker 12: what you believe in, believe in what you know. That way,
- 22:54Speaker 12: when times get really tough, you know, your character really
- 22:57Speaker 12: show in what you believe in, right, And so it's
- 23:00Speaker 12: not like we when we started to see them baths, like, oh,
- 23:04Speaker 12: let's just change it out. We're gonna run two three
- 23:06Speaker 12: zone and we're gonna now just run the flex on offense,
- 23:09Speaker 12: like and then that didn't work the next game. So
- 23:12Speaker 12: now we're gonna run you know, the will offense and
- 23:14Speaker 12: we're gonna be in a one three one zone, and
- 23:15Speaker 12: then the team has no identity ever, you know. And
- 23:19Speaker 12: so I think the reason we are because we stick
- 23:21Speaker 12: with what we do and we just try to get
- 23:22Speaker 12: better and better and better and better at it. And
- 23:24Speaker 12: now we're to that point. Last question, was moving the
- 23:28Speaker 12: game up?
- 23:28Speaker 6: Is that?
- 23:29Speaker 11: Is that a league decision? Was there any consideration at
- 23:31Speaker 11: all moving it even up to today or even postponing
- 23:34Speaker 11: it for later the.
- 23:35Speaker 12: Situation, Yeah, there was some consideration that you could moved
- 23:38Speaker 12: it to next week, but they play Wednesday, we don't play,
- 23:41Speaker 12: so they couldn't do it on Tuesday. League recommended it,
- 23:48Speaker 12: you know, and so most teams were doing it to
- 23:50Speaker 12: try to help the other team so they could get
- 23:52Speaker 12: out of here. I do want to say this because
- 23:54Speaker 12: I think this is very important that we check the weather.
- 23:57Speaker 12: We were moving this up. Well, the most important thing
- 24:01Speaker 12: it should allow our fans to all get here with
- 24:03Speaker 12: no issues, you know, So look, I pray, what do
- 24:10Speaker 12: they always do before they tell you about investing money.
- 24:12Speaker 12: I got to preface this by saying, I'm not a
- 24:14Speaker 12: weather man, so if anyone gets an accident after they
- 24:16Speaker 12: leave here, and I'm not getting sued, okay, I can't
- 24:18Speaker 12: predict the weather. And so there we go. Now that
- 24:20Speaker 12: we got that out of the way, all right, this
- 24:22Speaker 12: should be no problem for us to get to these games,
- 24:25Speaker 12: to this game and back from this game. And this
- 24:27Speaker 12: is a very good team, a team that has beat
- 24:29Speaker 12: us four times in a row. In here. We got
- 24:31Speaker 12: to come in here like underdogs. We got to have
- 24:33Speaker 12: everybody getting here when need our students here right Hey,
- 24:36Speaker 12: you may be locked up Sunday, you can't get out.
- 24:41Speaker 12: You don't want to catch Cavin fever. Let's get here,
- 24:43Speaker 12: grit Arena, Let's have a great time, and then we'll
- 24:49Speaker 12: safely do what we gotta do get to get to
- 24:51Speaker 12: where we got to. Got to get to. It should
- 24:54Speaker 12: be a fun time to all get out. We need
- 24:55Speaker 12: everybody to get here. That means y'all too, now I
- 24:57Speaker 12: one of the excuses out of y'all.
- 24:59Speaker 6: All right, no excuses. Got to get to where we've
- 25:03Speaker 6: got to go to get to. That's what Bucky McMillan said.
- 25:06Speaker 6: What what that means is get to the game tomorrow.
- 25:08Speaker 6: The game time has changed, right, Yeah, it's at noon now. Yeah.
- 25:12Speaker 8: So's been doing a good job of that and he's
- 25:15Speaker 8: buzz ain't doing so hot at Maryland.
- 25:17Speaker 6: Oh who yeah, exactly right, that's I mean who so yeah,
- 25:23Speaker 6: So show up tomorrow, right, I mean it's gonna be
- 25:25Speaker 6: before things.
- 25:26Speaker 8: From what I've seen, the window for us is later
- 25:30Speaker 8: on Saturday into Sunday morning. So at that time it
- 25:33Speaker 8: might be rainy, but it should not be icy.
- 25:35Speaker 6: It might be your last chance to get outside and.
- 25:38Speaker 7: Do anything this weekend, So do it, right, go yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 12: Why not?
- 25:43Speaker 6: It's gonna be fun. I just want to point out
- 25:45Speaker 6: once again that after Bucky was hired, Ryan, you and
- 25:49Speaker 6: I are on the radio, and what what did I say?
- 25:52Speaker 6: I don't know, but it was something that was probably correct.
- 25:55Speaker 6: They're gonna be fun to watch yes, and they're going
- 25:57Speaker 6: to be better than we think. Even though it's ever,
- 26:00Speaker 6: it's all new, all new parts and pieces. I love
- 26:02Speaker 6: the system. I love the coach well yeah, even look
- 26:06Speaker 6: just like Elko. I love the culture. I love the
- 26:09Speaker 6: direction they're going. And even if they flounder a little
- 26:12Speaker 6: bit and don't get as far as what they're capable
- 26:15Speaker 6: of this year, I'm still cool with it. Oh yeah,
- 26:16Speaker 6: still cool with it. All right, we're going to talk
- 26:18Speaker 6: NFL coming up here on the zone. You know what,

- 30:27Speaker 5: shabby for an old guy.
- 30:28Speaker 7: Huh Well, Tray is also not a hard name to remember.
- 30:31Speaker 6: But to be fair, I can I could screw up Bob,
- 30:35Speaker 6: So okay, we.
- 30:36Speaker 5: All have pretty easy to remember names.
- 30:39Speaker 6: What's your name, Oh, Caleb, that's right, that's the way
- 30:42Speaker 6: that works. Let's talk a little bit of NFL. Of course,
- 30:44Speaker 6: we've got the playoffs coming up, but right now, the
- 30:46Speaker 6: coaching carousel.
- 30:48Speaker 7: Yeah, a lot of coaches found their new homes.
- 30:50Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of coaches looking for a new home.
- 30:53Speaker 6: What is this? The Buffalo Bills are interviewing Philip Rivers.
- 30:57Speaker 7: I did see that earlier today. That kind of came
- 30:59Speaker 7: out of left field.
- 31:00Speaker 6: Do you think. I mean, well, like three five weeks ago,
- 31:04Speaker 6: a month and a half ago, the guy was coaching
- 31:06Speaker 6: high school football. Then suddenly he's back in the NFL
- 31:09Speaker 6: for a cup of coffee for the Colts, right, and
- 31:11Speaker 6: then now he's potentially interviewing for you.
- 31:14Speaker 8: You got to think that it was the Bills that
- 31:16Speaker 8: approached him. Like, I don't see I just don't know that.
- 31:19Speaker 8: I see Philip Rivers being like, man, I want to
- 31:21Speaker 8: be an NFL coach. Now I'm gonna go ask the Bills.
- 31:23Speaker 6: I could see him doing that. He's been hitting the
- 31:26Speaker 6: head a lot, so.
- 31:28Speaker 7: Yeah, I can't see a sane Philip Rivers doing that.
- 31:31Speaker 6: I can't see. But but why interview him? Why not say, hey, Philip,
- 31:34Speaker 6: maybe go get a little bit more experienced. But no,
- 31:36Speaker 6: they're actually talking to him. And the crazy thing is
- 31:39Speaker 6: that Josh Allen is sitting in on all the interviews, right,
- 31:43Speaker 6: Mike McDaniel's also interviewing for that position as well. It's crazy, man, Yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 6: absolutely crazy.
- 31:50Speaker 8: Especially after how they promoted who was it that they
- 31:53Speaker 8: promoted the GM Yeah, which I mean huh well.
- 32:00Speaker 6: Yeah, and God bless the Bills. I mean, this was
- 32:02Speaker 6: their opportunity this year, right because Mahomes was down.
- 32:06Speaker 8: And Jackson is out. Yeah, and I mean yeah, I
- 32:11Speaker 8: feel for Josh Allen. I do a little.
- 32:14Speaker 6: Bit, but a little bit. I have a good friend
- 32:16Speaker 6: who is a long suffering Buffalo's Bills fan and lived
- 32:19Speaker 6: through the wide left, wide right field goals that caused
- 32:23Speaker 6: them to lose.
- 32:23Speaker 7: We're straight super Bowls and you lose them all to
- 32:26Speaker 7: Bim Kelly.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Oh yeah, it was tough on the old guy. His
- 32:29Speaker 6: dad actually played ball for briefly for the Buffalo Bills.
- 32:32Speaker 6: He was a rookie with OJ Simpson. And there's a
- 32:34Speaker 6: lot of interesting stories that we can't have time for.
- 32:37Speaker 6: Let's talk about the playoffs coming up. What do we
- 32:41Speaker 6: got We got.
- 32:43Speaker 8: Well, I'm still trying to recover from that abomination that
- 32:45Speaker 8: I watched on Sunday last weekend.
- 32:48Speaker 6: Which abomination was that you're Houston Texans.
- 32:53Speaker 8: I look, I said, and you weren't here, But I
- 32:57Speaker 8: said the previous week. It's very difficul cult for them
- 33:01Speaker 8: to hurt me.
- 33:01Speaker 15: Now.
- 33:02Speaker 5: And what number Jersey does see d shrowd wear again?
- 33:06Speaker 5: Are you sure it's not nine?
- 33:08Speaker 12: Yeah?
- 33:09Speaker 7: And what nine? Turnover? Nine?
- 33:11Speaker 6: What? What?
- 33:11Speaker 7: Would he have? Four interceptions and five fumbles like the
- 33:13Speaker 7: two games, something like.
- 33:14Speaker 6: That, and they still nearly they should have And I
- 33:16Speaker 6: texted you. I texted you, I said, I said, they
- 33:18Speaker 6: got to get him out of the game, but they didn't.
- 33:20Speaker 7: Know because Dimigo Rans was loyal to him.
- 33:22Speaker 8: And you know what, you I don't know that Davis
- 33:25Speaker 8: Mills would have come in and won that game, but
- 33:27Speaker 8: you should have tried, but he would not.
- 33:28Speaker 6: Have lost the game. Yeah. That that's and that's where it's.
- 33:32Speaker 8: And it stings even more just because of the opportunity
- 33:35Speaker 8: that was right in front of them with bone Nix.
- 33:37Speaker 8: And you know what, maybe Stiindham will come in for
- 33:39Speaker 8: the Broncos and surprise everybody and he'll shock.
- 33:42Speaker 6: The world well, and I was shocked. Didn't. Didn't the
- 33:44Speaker 6: Broncos coach come out and say that they were going
- 33:47Speaker 6: to win. I think he called it.
- 33:49Speaker 7: I well, I mean I would hope he would.
- 33:51Speaker 6: Well, but you don't. I mean, you don't go out
- 33:52Speaker 6: there and pull your Babe Ruth, your Joe Namath.
- 33:55Speaker 8: I mean, yeah, he's trying to let his quarterback know
- 33:58Speaker 8: that he's got faith in him, anything that he can
- 34:00Speaker 8: do to.
- 34:02Speaker 7: Get that guy.
- 34:02Speaker 6: Saying it's a Jedi mind trick. It's not bulletin board
- 34:05Speaker 6: material for the other team.
- 34:06Speaker 7: I mean, I'm sure they will take it as that.
- 34:08Speaker 6: At the NFL level. I don't think they care. I
- 34:10Speaker 6: don't think that. I mean, they're just there for the paycheck.
- 34:13Speaker 7: Right, Yeah, that is that is true.
- 34:15Speaker 6: So we got the AFC Championship game coming up.
- 34:18Speaker 8: And you know what, I will point out, when we
- 34:20Speaker 8: did these brackets two weeks ago or whatever, I'm three
- 34:23Speaker 8: for four on my final four picks for the playoffs.
- 34:26Speaker 12: No, I'm not.
- 34:28Speaker 7: None are the only one that I missed was Buffalo.
- 34:32Speaker 7: Remember I had Buffalo beating Denver.
- 34:33Speaker 5: So doubted my Broncos.
- 34:36Speaker 6: Yeah, we did.
- 34:37Speaker 7: It wasn't so much that I doubted Denver.
- 34:39Speaker 8: I just thought that Josh Allen was that good and
- 34:42Speaker 8: I thought that they was finally.
- 34:43Speaker 7: Going to be his year for the reasons we mentioned
- 34:45Speaker 7: a few minutes ago.
- 34:45Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think it should have been. But yeah,
- 34:47Speaker 6: it's the way it goes. And everybody's like, oh, this
- 34:50Speaker 6: is so great. We don't have we don't have the
- 34:54Speaker 6: dynasties that were there, you know previously Kansas City and this,
- 34:57Speaker 6: that and the other, like this is this is old school
- 34:59Speaker 6: dynasty playoffs right here?
- 35:00Speaker 7: Yeahlan Denver.
- 35:02Speaker 8: Before we continue on with this, I do want to
- 35:05Speaker 8: backpedal a little bit because there was one thing that
- 35:06Speaker 8: I also wanted to mention as well, regarding that Texans
- 35:10Speaker 8: and Patriots game and how somehow it became the most
- 35:14Speaker 8: viewed ESPN event in the history of that entire network.
- 35:18Speaker 6: It's just like people watching NASCAR.
- 35:20Speaker 12: For the Rex.
- 35:20Speaker 7: Eight million people tuned in to watch that debacle.
- 35:23Speaker 6: Yeah, it's just like watching NASCAR for the Rex. That's
- 35:26Speaker 6: exactly what it is. Okay.
- 35:27Speaker 8: Anyways, backup Skins, the teams that are actually still anything, and.
- 35:31Speaker 6: This is like a heritage of sort of playoff here, right,
- 35:34Speaker 6: I mean back in the day when you had the
- 35:36Speaker 6: new England Patriots with Tom Brady and the Denver Broncos
- 35:39Speaker 6: with John Elway perennially in the I don't think that
- 35:42Speaker 6: happened the same time. No, it didn't happen. I'm just
- 35:44Speaker 6: talking about that. These were perennial playoff teams before Peyton Manning.
- 35:49Speaker 6: The Broncos actually had a quarterback.
- 35:51Speaker 9: Yes, but that was way before I.
- 35:52Speaker 12: Was my time.
- 35:54Speaker 6: Yea, Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's old school, young people,
- 35:58Speaker 6: and you don't even know about John Elway playing without
- 36:01Speaker 6: ACLS and mcl.
- 36:03Speaker 9: I'm just we're talking about that generation about Tom Brady.
- 36:08Speaker 6: Yeah. So, okay, we've got New England and Denver coming up.
- 36:10Speaker 6: That's Sunday at three o'clock, Battle of the top two seeds.
- 36:14Speaker 7: I got New England in that game.
- 36:16Speaker 8: Man Like, I'm sorry, Caleb, but I don't see backup
- 36:20Speaker 8: quarterback coming in to play his first actual meaningful NFL snaps.
- 36:24Speaker 5: You know, the last time the Patriots played a backup
- 36:26Speaker 5: quarterback in the pot.
- 36:27Speaker 7: I know what happens, but that is not this.
- 36:30Speaker 6: Well, are you sure about that? Okay? Advantages go, advantages
- 36:34Speaker 6: for Denver's they're playing in Denver, right, it's gonna be
- 36:37Speaker 6: dang cold. Yes, it is dang dry, and there's gonna
- 36:42Speaker 6: be a serious lack of oxygen, right, So that's always
- 36:45Speaker 6: an advantage, especially this time of year, after you've got
- 36:48Speaker 6: a full season behind you. Your body's fatigued and I
- 36:50Speaker 6: know there's some wayte to overcome that. But that's a
- 36:52Speaker 6: big advantage for Denver. It's not that New England's not
- 36:55Speaker 6: used to playing in the cold, it's that they're not
- 36:57Speaker 6: used to playing in the cold, in the dry.
- 36:59Speaker 8: In The thing for me is that the New England Patriots,
- 37:03Speaker 8: it is my belief that they have a deal with
- 37:05Speaker 8: Satan and so they will just win like and it
- 37:09Speaker 8: doesn't matter.
- 37:10Speaker 9: Are you saying them yeah, Are.
- 37:13Speaker 6: You saying they signed a deal with Jerry Jones?
- 37:15Speaker 17: Is that.
- 37:17Speaker 7: No? No, they would never win a game again if
- 37:19Speaker 7: they win from the Cowboys. There were two different Satan's there.
- 37:22Speaker 6: Okay, I didn't know we were talking in the multi
- 37:24Speaker 6: Satan universe. So yeah, so I'm going New England on
- 37:29Speaker 6: this one too. I mean, they're they're a favorite, uh
- 37:32Speaker 6: and they're favored on the road. And again, I just
- 37:35Speaker 6: I'm with you. I don't think a backup quarterback, even
- 37:37Speaker 6: one that's a game manager can pull that off. But
- 37:40Speaker 6: stranger things. Indeed, yes, they have either side of the back.
- 37:44Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I'm sorry. Do you have an opinion?
- 37:47Speaker 9: I don't want to go against the Patriots, but I
- 37:50Speaker 9: am rooting for the Broncos.
- 37:51Speaker 6: So this is what Yes, this is your heart there?
- 37:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I agree with that sentiment as well. I hate
- 37:56Speaker 8: the Patriots. I don't ever want to see them win
- 37:58Speaker 8: anything again. I would love for the Broncos to pull
- 38:00Speaker 8: this off.
- 38:00Speaker 6: The only reason I want to see the Patriots come
- 38:03Speaker 6: back and be good is because I want to see
- 38:06Speaker 6: them do it without Bill Belichick. Right, I want to
- 38:08Speaker 6: see that ego get crushed just because I like watching
- 38:11Speaker 6: people in pain emotionally. Did I mention that out loud? Sorry,
- 38:15Speaker 6: it was just a thought in my head. So yeah, right, yeah,
- 38:19Speaker 6: I My heart is with Denver, it really is. But
- 38:23Speaker 6: in reality, I don't think that they're going to pull
- 38:24Speaker 6: it off. So NFC Championship Game, Los Angeles, Caleb, Sorry
- 38:29Speaker 6: I missed you, Caleb.
- 38:30Speaker 5: Wow, defense wins championships.
- 38:33Speaker 7: Tell that to the Texans.
- 38:36Speaker 6: Point. Counterpoint, Well, the Broncos have an offense though, Yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 6: the defense wins championships. A great man once said that.
- 38:43Speaker 5: Yeah, the Bronco Texans had a great defense too, but
- 38:46Speaker 5: the Broncos have an offense that exists.
- 38:48Speaker 8: So defense wins championships when you have a somewhat competent offense.
- 38:52Speaker 6: Exactly the championships when you don't turn the ball over
- 38:55Speaker 6: nine times. Yeah, that's Jared Stidham's not going to turn
- 38:57Speaker 6: the ball over nine times because he's gonna throw check
- 38:59Speaker 6: downs and hand the ball off to r J. Harvey.
- 39:01Speaker 6: That's pretty much the game plan. I checked in with
- 39:03Speaker 6: the coach. That's what he said, So go Broncos, Go Broncos. Okay, Caleb,
- 39:07Speaker 6: since I skipped you a second ago, let's go to
- 39:09Speaker 6: the NFC Championship. It gets your take. Between the Rams
- 39:12Speaker 6: and the Seahawks.
- 39:13Speaker 5: It has been really impressive to watch Sam Donald do
- 39:16Speaker 5: what he's done this year. I just wanted to say
- 39:17Speaker 5: that before. I mean, obviously Matthew Stafford is a better quarterback,
- 39:20Speaker 5: but it's been really cool to see Donald go from
- 39:22Speaker 5: you know, the Cinderella feel good story last year with
- 39:26Speaker 5: the Vikings and kind of keep it going with me
- 39:27Speaker 5: with the Seahawks. It's all gonna come crashing down this week.
- 39:30Speaker 15: Though.
- 39:31Speaker 6: Okay, so you think.
- 39:32Speaker 7: The Seahawks lose here.
- 39:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going Rams.
- 39:34Speaker 7: Okay, I picked Seattle.
- 39:37Speaker 6: Okay, give us the reasons. Don't say you like their
- 39:41Speaker 6: team colors.
- 39:42Speaker 9: That's what I was gonna say.
- 39:45Speaker 8: I just say that because I picked them in the
- 39:47Speaker 8: start of my bracket.
- 39:48Speaker 7: I'm not gonna got that's my bracket. I'm sticking to it, right.
- 39:54Speaker 9: I'm going with Seattle as well.
- 39:55Speaker 6: Okay, and that's just because.
- 39:57Speaker 9: I'm with him. I picked them, but I they were
- 40:00Speaker 9: gonna lose eventually.
- 40:01Speaker 7: In my brackets. They're also at Seattle's at home.
- 40:03Speaker 6: They are at home. They are a three and a
- 40:04Speaker 6: half point favorite, according.
- 40:05Speaker 7: And there are no slouch on defense either.
- 40:07Speaker 6: Yeah, they've they've got good. They've got good things going on.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Darnold is good. Uh, we'll see. Stafford is good too,
- 40:14Speaker 6: and he's found kind of a second win now that
- 40:17Speaker 6: they've got Davonte Adams in there. I don't they split
- 40:21Speaker 6: the regular season. I think it's gonna be close. I
- 40:23Speaker 6: honestly do. But I would give it to the Seahawks
- 40:26Speaker 6: as well. But I can't rule out the Rams because
- 40:28Speaker 6: I like the colors of their uniforms on both of
- 40:31Speaker 6: these games.
- 40:32Speaker 9: Sounds like it, I said I'm going for Bronc the Broncos.
- 40:35Speaker 5: Okay, are you kicking the Broncos?
- 40:37Speaker 6: Yes, So Riley is the outlier.
- 40:42Speaker 7: Well, Caleb's picking the Broncos too.
- 40:43Speaker 6: Riley and Caleb are the outliers.
- 40:45Speaker 7: But then they're not outliers if it's two and two.
- 40:48Speaker 6: Well, but they're against me, so they're outliers.
- 40:50Speaker 7: Okay, they don't.
- 40:51Speaker 6: They don't agree with us. Ryan, So are you Vegas?
- 40:54Speaker 5: Is that what we're doing?
- 40:55Speaker 7: Are you asking supposed to?
- 40:57Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 40:58Speaker 12: I'm not.
- 40:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, will Is lord Vay. I slept at
- 41:01Speaker 6: a holiday and express last night. I didn't really, But no, no,
- 41:04Speaker 6: I'm not, mister Vegas. I'm not really mister NFL. Ryan
- 41:07Speaker 6: will tell you at the beginning of the season, I
- 41:09Speaker 6: declared that the NFL was dead to me, and the
- 41:11Speaker 6: only reason I was picking a couple of teams to
- 41:13Speaker 6: root for was because of the fighting Dan Campbell's and
- 41:16Speaker 6: the fact that I liked the New York Giants pick
- 41:18Speaker 6: up of Jackson Dart and Ryan sad.
- 41:22Speaker 7: To ask you last week how you felt about the
- 41:23Speaker 7: hardball hiring.
- 41:24Speaker 6: For I think it's amazing. I think that's one of
- 41:26Speaker 6: the greatest things that you watch out for that team
- 41:28Speaker 6: next year. I agree.
- 41:29Speaker 7: I'm totally on board with that.
- 41:31Speaker 6: I mean, if Cam Scattaboo hasn't lost too many brain cells,
- 41:34Speaker 6: then perhaps or maybe he's lost just enough brain cells.
- 41:38Speaker 6: I think they've got some great things in front of
- 41:39Speaker 6: them in New York. I yeah, that's pretty cool. So
- 41:41Speaker 6: all right, that's the way we're going around the table there.
- 41:44Speaker 6: What time is it? Oh, it's game time. All right,
- 41:47Speaker 6: we got cops and odds coming up here in just
- 41:48Speaker 6: a second. You'll keep it right here on the zone.
- 41:51Speaker 6: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 41:53Speaker 6: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around and then
- 41:56Speaker 6: I found Shulty Roofing, and boy, I'm glad I did.
- 41:58Speaker 6: The folks at Shulty guided me every step of the way.
- 42:01Speaker 6: They showed me my options, They told me what my
- 42:03Speaker 6: out of pocket cost would be after insurance. They took
- 42:06Speaker 6: the complication out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They
- 42:10Speaker 6: took off the damage roof, put on the new roof,
- 42:12Speaker 6: did all the clean up, and I had my new
- 42:14Speaker 6: roof in one day.
- 42:18Speaker 15: The whole by the Moll roof.

- 43:06Speaker 6: in for Chip Power this afternoon. It is time for
- 43:09Speaker 6: America's favorite radio segment, and that is because of a
- 43:12Speaker 6: survey of the people in this room, we have determined
- 43:14Speaker 6: that that is America's favorite radio Segmented is Comps and Odds,
- 43:18Speaker 6: where we give you all kinds of crazy stuff to
- 43:21Speaker 6: close out your Friday evening. I think I'll start it
- 43:23Speaker 6: off this time around. You are you guys good with that?
- 43:25Speaker 6: Go for it all? Right? Here we go. In North
- 43:28Speaker 6: Carolina this month, authorities have charged and arrested fifty two
- 43:31Speaker 6: year old Gudrun casperin linen Kogle. I read that name
- 43:36Speaker 6: that three times fast, goodran Casper linen Kogl, goodran top.
- 43:39Speaker 7: You don't have to act right.
- 43:41Speaker 6: The arrested her for two murders committed nearly two decades apart.
- 43:44Speaker 6: The most recent crime, During a twelve person Thanksgiving dinner,
- 43:48Speaker 6: Casper Linen Kogle allegedly served poisoned wine to three people.
- 43:54Speaker 6: The victims were her adult daughter, Leela Livis, who died
- 43:58Speaker 6: from the poisoning. Another daughter, Mia, and a boyfriend also
- 44:02Speaker 6: fell ill but survived. Wow. What kind of poison It
- 44:06Speaker 6: is called acidurned trial or something like that. It is
- 44:09Speaker 6: a chemical that the human body slowly converts into cyanide.
- 44:12Speaker 6: I mean this was devious. This is like Netflix's murder
- 44:17Speaker 6: documentary Deep Stuff. It caused delayed toxicity, making the source
- 44:22Speaker 6: of the illness harder to identify immediately. So the cold
- 44:25Speaker 6: case in this case is from two thousand and seven.
- 44:28Speaker 6: While investigating this poisoning, the North Carolina State Bureau of
- 44:31Speaker 6: Investigation found evidence linking Casper lining Coogle to the death
- 44:36Speaker 6: of Michael Schmidt. Schmidt died in a Hindersonville, North Carolina
- 44:40Speaker 6: house fire in two thousand and seven. While officials have
- 44:43Speaker 6: not publicly detailed the exact link between the two cases yet,
- 44:46Speaker 6: she now has been charged with his murder as well.
- 44:48Speaker 6: So that's two counts of first degree murdered, two counts
- 44:51Speaker 6: of attempted murder, and three counts of distributing prohibited food
- 44:54Speaker 6: or beverages. They're just gonna throw that one on the
- 44:57Speaker 6: top there, because if the murder charges weren't enough. She's
- 45:00Speaker 6: a former restaurant owner in Asheville, North Carolina, where I
- 45:03Speaker 6: actually have family from. It's not a big town, right,
- 45:06Speaker 6: so I'm sure people around there obviously are chatting about
- 45:09Speaker 6: this one, talking that up. But yeah, I thought that
- 45:11Speaker 6: was to me that threw back to I don't know
- 45:13Speaker 6: if you guys ever watched Justified, great TV show, one
- 45:16Speaker 6: of Chip Howard's favorite TV shows, Timothy Oliphant, great show.
- 45:19Speaker 6: I mean, some of the best writing out there. But
- 45:21Speaker 6: one of the characters on there like to poison people
- 45:23Speaker 6: with their moonshine.
- 45:24Speaker 5: In similar fashion, there's a picture on Chip's wall with
- 45:27Speaker 5: his face superimposed on the main characters face.
- 45:29Speaker 6: Yeah, Unjustified. Chip's a big fan, so you know it's
- 45:31Speaker 6: got to be good. If Chip is a big fan right, yeah,
- 45:34Speaker 6: all right, what else held?
- 45:36Speaker 5: All right?
- 45:38Speaker 6: I can go, okay go, We're going to Florida. You know,
- 45:40Speaker 6: we always got a Florida go on.
- 45:41Speaker 8: In Florida, we have a Florida man by the name
- 45:44Speaker 8: of Austin Simmons who is jailed on a five thousand
- 45:47Speaker 8: dollars bond. He's been charged with felony battery. So here's
- 45:53Speaker 8: what happened. Apparently this was at a Florida bus terminal
- 45:56Speaker 8: on Monday evening. The victim, a man named Carlos Mora,
- 46:01Speaker 8: had been checking on Simmons, who appeared unconscious, when Simmons
- 46:05Speaker 8: then woke up, irate and threw an opened ketchup packet
- 46:10Speaker 8: at the victim.
- 46:11Speaker 7: According to court records.
- 46:12Speaker 6: An open ketchup packet.
- 46:14Speaker 8: So the victim sustained two spots of ketchup on his
- 46:18Speaker 8: jacket from the three quarters of an outs packet, which
- 46:23Speaker 8: officers found on the ground opened with ketchup pouring out.
- 46:28Speaker 8: The man denied striking the victim and reportedly admitted to
- 46:32Speaker 8: giving him the ketchup packet. The incident escalated to a
- 46:36Speaker 8: third degree felony charge due to the man's prior twenty
- 46:41Speaker 8: nineteen battery conviction. Carrying a maximum five year prison sentence.
- 46:45Speaker 8: He was also charged with drug possession after finding a
- 46:48Speaker 8: chalky substance identified as cocaine.
- 46:52Speaker 6: Oh got a layers to that story, Yeah, I mean
- 46:55Speaker 6: there's always there's always depth to the floridamand stories. Yeah,
- 46:58Speaker 6: all right, what you got, Riley?
- 47:00Speaker 15: All right?
- 47:00Speaker 9: So I'm taking us to New York, New York City
- 47:03Speaker 9: homes La Mott, Yeah right, THET Holmes, that's his name,
- 47:08Speaker 9: all right. If you're looking for a tracking data or
- 47:12Speaker 9: a court ordered anchor ankle monitor, it looks like the
- 47:15Speaker 9: person that is prancing around in a backyard and lifting
- 47:17Speaker 9: their leg by a bush, it's probably not a human.
- 47:21Speaker 6: Did I did read this story and it's fantastic. Criminals
- 47:24Speaker 6: are smart.
- 47:25Speaker 9: So this man put his ankle monitor on his dog.
- 47:29Speaker 9: Authorities figured out, and authorities have not found the man.
- 47:32Speaker 9: He has skipped down and skipped his court appearance last week.
- 47:36Speaker 9: If you have any information, they want to know about it.
- 47:38Speaker 6: Where he is.
- 47:39Speaker 9: They don't give us the crime, but from the tracking
- 47:43Speaker 9: data and the GPS ankle monitor, they realize he apparently
- 47:45Speaker 9: cut it off and just tied it around his dog's leg,
- 47:49Speaker 9: and they don't know how long it's been like that.
- 47:50Speaker 6: But well they do, so they got, they got, they
- 47:54Speaker 6: got a notification that the device had been tampered with,
- 47:56Speaker 6: because that that sort of thing does that. And then
- 47:58Speaker 6: the guy straps it to the dog and it turns
- 48:01Speaker 6: the dog loose. And they didn't say whether or not
- 48:03Speaker 6: it was his dog, it was a dog, And then
- 48:06Speaker 6: the dog goes running around the neighborhood and police are
- 48:08Speaker 6: on a wild dog chase.
- 48:09Speaker 9: Is that his prancing around in a backyard? So maybe
- 48:13Speaker 9: to neighbor's dog?
- 48:14Speaker 6: Maybe so? Or it got in the backyard because that's
- 48:17Speaker 6: where all the smells were. Man, that's I respect it, honestly.
- 48:21Speaker 7: That's smart.
- 48:23Speaker 6: That's not bad. Not shabby bisters, now, not at all.
- 48:26Speaker 9: They find him, he will have up to fifteen years
- 48:28Speaker 9: behind the bars.
- 48:29Speaker 7: Gotta find him first, Gotta find him.
- 48:31Speaker 6: Yeah, he's skipped down, kalb. What you got?
- 48:33Speaker 5: Well, this is more in the odds category than the
- 48:36Speaker 5: cops category and a true only in Montana. Moment UPI
- 48:42Speaker 5: reports that police and Great Falls are scratching their heads
- 48:45Speaker 5: over a strains discovery in a local park. There was
- 48:48Speaker 5: a wooded area in a city park in Great Falls, Montana,
- 48:51Speaker 5: where passers by discovered a large, downed log with three
- 48:54Speaker 5: bicycles seemingly growing out of it.
- 48:57Speaker 6: Okay, so a tree on the ground, Yes, bicycles.
- 49:00Speaker 5: It appears that the bicycles were leaned against or placed
- 49:03Speaker 5: over a fallen tree years or even decades ago. Over time,
- 49:07Speaker 5: the bark and wood of the living tree grew around
- 49:09Speaker 5: the metal frames, effectively swallowing the bikes and suspending them
- 49:13Speaker 5: in the air as the tree matured and eventually fell.
- 49:17Speaker 6: So there's mysterious bicycles embedded in trees.
- 49:20Speaker 5: After after an inspection, officers determined the bikes had been
- 49:25Speaker 5: part of the tree for so long they are now
- 49:27Speaker 5: unrecoverable without destroying the log. Local residents were concerned that
- 49:31Speaker 5: they might be stolen property. But it's kind of too
- 49:34Speaker 5: late for that.
- 49:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, if it's been there long enough that
- 49:36Speaker 6: the tree has grown around it, I don't think.
- 49:38Speaker 7: That it's a relic now, statute of limitations has probably expired.
- 49:42Speaker 6: But what an amazing piece of art that might now,
- 49:44Speaker 6: I mean, that's probably look cool.
- 49:46Speaker 7: Turned it into an attraction.
- 49:47Speaker 6: Yeah, let's see. This is interesting. A UPI report based
- 49:52Speaker 6: on TSA announcement highlights the top ten most unusual finds
- 49:57Speaker 6: that the Transportation Safety Administration has. The number one discovery
- 50:02Speaker 6: on the list goes to a realistic replica pipe bomb
- 50:05Speaker 6: found in a checked bag at Boise Airport in May
- 50:07Speaker 6: of last year. Not recommended really to take on the road.
- 50:11Speaker 7: Nah, I wouldn't try that.
- 50:12Speaker 6: I mean, there might be extenuating circumstances. I know that
- 50:15Speaker 6: here is part of the Texas A and M University system.
- 50:18Speaker 6: The Texas and M University Extension Service has an unexploded ordnance.
- 50:24Speaker 6: You know, they do that sort of thing training out there,
- 50:26Speaker 6: And so if you're an instructor and you wanted to
- 50:28Speaker 6: bring your own replica pipe bomb, I could see that.
- 50:30Speaker 6: But if you're just total one around, maybe not so much.
- 50:33Speaker 6: The officers found PBC pipes and wooden blocks wrapped in
- 50:37Speaker 6: brown paper labeled C four with wires sticking out. The
- 50:41Speaker 6: passenger claimed the items were merely training aids and abandoned
- 50:44Speaker 6: them at the checkpoint. So aside from that, the other
- 50:47Speaker 6: weird finds in the top ten the turtle bra in Miami, Florida.
- 50:51Speaker 6: A woman attempted to smuggle two live turtles through Miami's
- 50:54Speaker 6: International Airport by hiding them in her bra. Advanced damaging
- 50:58Speaker 6: technology caught the movements out. Sadly, one of the turtles
- 51:01Speaker 6: did not survive the ordeal. Oh my god, it's a
- 51:04Speaker 6: terrible death to die. Aside from the bra the turtle bra,
- 51:09Speaker 6: there was also the pants turtle in Newark, New Jersey,
- 51:12Speaker 6: a similar incident. A man was caught with a live
- 51:14Speaker 6: turtle wrapped in a blue towel hidden down the front
- 51:17Speaker 6: of his pants. Somebody else, oh, he is playing with fire.
- 51:20Speaker 6: In Miami, somebody tried to sneak ammunition through in a
- 51:26Speaker 6: container of ness Quick chocolate milk powder. Somebody in Fort
- 51:31Speaker 6: Worth tried to hide it. A knife in a car seat, Okay,
- 51:37Speaker 6: illegal substance is found in shoes at Kona International Airport
- 51:41Speaker 6: in Hawaii, and a knife in a knee brace. So rightley,
- 51:44Speaker 6: if you have to travel, don't stick a knife down
- 51:47Speaker 6: in your boot there that you have to wear. Passenger
- 51:49Speaker 6: attempted to hide a knife within their medical knee brace
- 51:52Speaker 6: at Quad Cities International Airport. The TSA's key message is
- 51:57Speaker 6: don't do it. Civil fines can be up to fifteen thousand.
- 52:00Speaker 7: Yeah, they do not play around with that stuff, all right.
- 52:04Speaker 8: So this is a story out of Missouri where we
- 52:07Speaker 8: have a twenty four year old man that is facing
- 52:09Speaker 8: charges after he sold the same two cars multiple times
- 52:13Speaker 8: on Facebook Marketplace. Now, the way he did this is
- 52:17Speaker 8: he would sell one, then immediately steal it back, and
- 52:20Speaker 8: then sell it again.
- 52:22Speaker 9: Now that takes commitment.
- 52:25Speaker 6: It's a centerprising young man.
- 52:26Speaker 8: The cops in Kansas City say that between May and
- 52:29Speaker 8: June of last year, he sold two cars to at
- 52:31Speaker 8: least eight different people, a twenty thirteen Honda Civic and
- 52:35Speaker 8: a twenty thirteen Buick veranou So the cops caught on
- 52:39Speaker 8: after they got eight different stolen vehicle reports that were similar.
- 52:43Speaker 8: The people paid cash, got what seemed like a legit
- 52:46Speaker 8: title for the car, and then it was stolen, usually
- 52:49Speaker 8: the next day. He got caught after he tried to
- 52:51Speaker 8: sell the same car to the same buyer twice. A
- 52:54Speaker 8: woman he scammed saw the car for sale again, used
- 52:58Speaker 8: a different Facebook account to reach out, and he tried
- 53:00Speaker 8: to sell it to her a second time. She also
- 53:03Speaker 8: got security footage of him stealing the car around one am,
- 53:07Speaker 8: just seven.
- 53:07Speaker 7: Hours after he sold it to her.
- 53:09Speaker 8: So he's facing fourteen felony charges and up to ninety
- 53:13Speaker 8: eight years in jail.
- 53:14Speaker 6: Well props to this woman right who baited him in
- 53:17Speaker 6: get it to her own hands. Sure enough, Riley, what
- 53:19Speaker 6: you got?
- 53:20Speaker 9: So I'm gonna take us to Miami where it's a
- 53:22Speaker 9: pretty similar story.
- 53:23Speaker 6: We're going to Miami.
- 53:26Speaker 9: A thirty seven year old woman in Miami requested a
- 53:28Speaker 9: lift from a dollar a family dollar store last week.
- 53:32Speaker 9: When the driver arrived, she stole.
- 53:34Speaker 6: The car from the ride shair drive, Yes, it's okay
- 53:37Speaker 6: in this car.
- 53:38Speaker 9: She drove herself home, where she was later found by
- 53:40Speaker 9: the police. Her name was Lindsay. I'm not even try
- 53:44Speaker 9: to her last name. When she ordered the lift, she
- 53:47Speaker 9: asked him to help her load her bags in the back,
- 53:51Speaker 9: she snuck up to the front and just took off
- 53:53Speaker 9: in the Honda.
- 53:54Speaker 6: Sounds like she was planning that in advance. Yeah, yes,
- 53:57Speaker 6: well she was planning in them. What was the long game?
- 54:00Speaker 6: The long game was she was gonna give herself a
- 54:02Speaker 6: good rating on the lift surface.
- 54:04Speaker 7: Yeah, well, she.
- 54:04Speaker 9: Didn't get far. The driver saw this iPhone in the
- 54:06Speaker 9: vehicle used find my iPhone to find her whenever she
- 54:10Speaker 9: drove herself home. The police arrived and she admitted to
- 54:13Speaker 9: stealing it. But that's not all they found on her.
- 54:16Speaker 9: She had a glass pink pipe with cocaine residue in
- 54:20Speaker 9: her purse and Xanax in her purse inside the car.
- 54:23Speaker 7: Called me shocked.
- 54:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm actually kind of shocked that it wasn't something worse,
- 54:28Speaker 6: you know, because I mean Florida, that's yeah. You never
- 54:31Speaker 6: know what they're gonna get down there. No, all right,
- 54:34Speaker 6: let's go to Arkansas. And this isn't really a criminal case.
- 54:36Speaker 6: But we talk about AI all of the time. Uh,
- 54:39Speaker 6: and this will probably be our last story here. A
- 54:42Speaker 6: Texas man used AI to find a over two carried
- 54:45Speaker 6: diamond at the Crater of Diamond State Park.
- 54:46Speaker 7: Have you guys I've been there?
- 54:47Speaker 12: Have you read?
- 54:48Speaker 7: Yeah, I've been.
- 54:48Speaker 6: Murfreesboro, Arkansas. I always wanted to go there, but nobody.
- 54:52Speaker 8: In my family wanted to get Parretts took me there.
- 54:54Speaker 8: It's been a long time. I was much younger.
- 54:56Speaker 6: But essentially, you got there, you dig in the dirt,
- 54:58Speaker 6: you sift it out and see if I didn't find anything.
- 55:00Speaker 8: I remember this dude had like this giant hole, doug
- 55:03Speaker 8: like it was taller than he was, and he's just
- 55:05Speaker 8: down in there like he was committed to that.
- 55:07Speaker 6: Yeah, they find stuff all the time. On December of
- 55:09Speaker 6: last year, Austin Ward asked his mother Elizabeth, if there
- 55:12Speaker 6: was anywhere nearby that they could go mine for crystals.
- 55:16Speaker 6: Elizabeth suggested ask Siri, and Siri said you should go
- 55:19Speaker 6: to creator of Diamond State Park in Murphysboro. So he
- 55:22Speaker 6: ended up getting a over to Carrot Diamond there. Not
- 55:26Speaker 6: too shabby a brown dowel. It's about the size of
- 55:29Speaker 6: a corn kernel right there. Not too shabby at all. Hey,
- 55:33Speaker 6: for Ryan, Riley, Caleb and Trey, I'm will. We are
- 55:38Speaker 6: just about out of here, so we'll come back and
- 55:40Speaker 6: say goodbye here in a second on the zone.
