- M1: Welcome back to another episode of Sister Sisters. M2: Welcome back. The day you are listening to this podcast, I am currently flying in the sky on a plane headed to my Hawaii honeymoon, where we're going to Olani. M1: And so in honor of that, today we are going to be doing a full deep dive on the Olani Resort. We're going to be talking about its history, of course, and then what it's like to visit it today. M2: And then I will be back in two weeks and I'll do a full rundown of what my stay was like and also my Disneyland trip that we're tacking on to the end. M1: But first a little chit chat. Guys, what did you think of that new intro style? M2: Yeah, well you'd let us know what you thought. People would kinda get in a lot of questions of why we were chatting about a random topic that wasn't related to the episode, so thought we would bring in a little something that kind of tied it together so you know what you're getting into, although we do have some things to talk about before, obviously, per usual. M1: But we're gonna start with a little bit of Olani's chit chat. So again, this whole episode will be Olani focused. And at the top of the episode, we're gonna kind of focus a little bit on Mouse Latou's trip. So you leave it is Tuesday as we are recording this. This episode will drop on Thursday. So you've got like 48 hours until you're flying. No, not even 36 hours M2: No. M1: until you're flying. my god, are you overwhelmed hearing that? M2: No, because I knew that I would get overwhelmed. And so I got first off, I'm like on top of packing. I packed a lot of stuff Sunday night. I still have some odds and ends technology specifically, but like I have some odds and ends to pull together. But mostly I am mostly packed, which is great. I have laundry and Olani because we're renting DVC points with David's vacation club rentals, which we always talk about is the best tip, but I'll do like a talk about that more. But we have a washer dryer because we're staying in one of the one bedroom villas, which is so nice. I mean, that being said, am I obviously overwhelmed? Tomorrow is Wednesday. We're getting a brand new front door, which is like fun, but also like kind of tough timing to get a new front door. M1: What if they don't finish it? M2: I'm gonna text my neighbor. I'm sure she would be happy to help, genuinely. I think she would be fine with it. But they'll finish. They told me they would. They like guaranteed it. we have to get to Boston like super early Thursday morning. So it's just gonna be kind of a a whole thing. Speaking of super early, some other Wolani questions. I've been watching a million things of Olani on TikTok and YouTube. There is a bloodbath for chairs that at starting at 5 a.m. at Olani, you can go and hold the chair, but you cannot leave the chair until 8 a.m. And then you can leave your stuff on it. And then if you leave your stuff without touching it for more than an hour, they will move it into these little cubbies. I M1: Yes. M2: don't enjoy that at all. M1: I went in May, which I don't actually know what type of like peak versus season that is versus this. I am not sure. What my experience was is, so for example, there's like one row of chairs on the pool deck that looks out on the ocean. At 5 a.m., those will be full. Like those are M2: Yeah, you know what? But I kinda want those. M1: Well, people are really fiending for those. I assume if they're like umbrellas and stuff go early. Places close to the pool. It's we never bothered getting chairs before the eight AM thing. Like realistically, we just really weren't I mean, maybe at like seven thirty if we were grabbing breakfast, we just like sat there and ate, but it wasn't worth it for us to spend time really doing that. However, once the chair is open, basically what they do is they'll go around periodically. And for any empty chairs, they'll fold your towel for you and drape it over the back of the chair. And that signifies to them they know, okay, on this, you know, we did this row at 9 a.m. So at 10 a.m., all that stuff gets cleared. So all you have to do is undo the towel and then you're like good. It's not as crazy as it sounds, but it is. M2: It's just like undesirable to me to have to get back up every single hour and go to my chair. I'm just like very unexcited about that. M1: It's not like yes, it's not that intense though. It's like not actually that rigorous, but it will happen. M2: But I'm like, I don't honestly, if there's no sh I'm not gonna be sitting in the chair that much anyway. So like I don't have the movie my stuff though. Like that would not suit my fancy. Also, I've been checking all these forecasts. There's like three different weather forecasts I've been checking. They're all could not be more different. One of them shows literal all sun, one of them shows literally rain every single day, and one of them shows wind and clouds some days and sun the other days. M1: I don't understand how they could be that different. I had recently heard that all weather sources basically use the same weather data. M2: I recently just heard that the exact opposite. That there's like three different ways of determining the weather. we will see. I'm we're like anticipating that it's gonna rain some. And it looks like even on the days that the worst the worst like weather is predicted, it's like three or four hours of rain and then like sun. So I'm like, that's fine. But I mean, it's not ideal. Like I think the day it probably will rain is during our surfing lesson, which I'm like, well. M1: I saw that when you were sending me the weather. That's unfortunate. However, I was reading a random thing today. Or maybe no, it was someone actually who commented on my post giving you a tip. And they said like their surfing lessons, like you can just walk up and get a surfing lesson at Waikiki. Maybe if it's horrible weather they'll cancel for you and you could do it a different day. M2: Yeah, but like I just I'm literally checking it as we speak. And I just checked one that showed rain every day. And then this one shows it's just gonna be partly cloudy with a little bit of wind. So I'm like, guys, guys, and then well, the other one so it shows sun. Like, this is ridiculous. Is there a meteorologist listening? Please advise. M1: Please chime in. M2: Okay. A couple of other things we need to talk about. This kind of leads into some of the news. I was sort of I was reading up on what was closed and stuff. The train. I forgot that the train is still in its weird little shuttle mode where it just goes back and forth between Main Street and Fantasyland. And I get that they didn't want to close the train because it was closed for so long with Tron, but I'm like, that's a stink. That's not fun. M1: Yeah. Don't say don't say stink, but that's like that's giving nothing. Our train I just really feel like it could use another stop or something. Like it just doesn't, it's not giving enough what I need it to be giving. M2: I think it'll stop in villains land. M1: That would be amazing. I would absolutely love for it to stop in villains land. That would definitely give it some more zhuz. But yeah, when it's in the shuttle mode, it's like okay. M2: It needs to stop at like tomorrowland. Like I very frequently M1: Yes. Yes. M2: am like, we're in Toontown or Storybook Circus. We have to like mosey our way over there. I'm just like, meh. M1: I would love for it to stop in in like back by Space Mountain and Tron. That would be so convenient. The train is not eff and the M2: It would be. I mean it does stop basically right near there, but M1: train is not efficient. The train takes forever to unload and load. M2: Nothing like Disneyland Paris's train. Anyway, M1: Yeah. M2: the last thing I want to quickly talk about, construction wall fatigue. Just like M1: Mm-hmm. M2: I'm getting a little fatigued of the construction walls. Epcot had those walls up for so long. I love what Epcot did, but like I j just that should have taken like two months. I'm serious. Like I like it. I like it. But actually I d M1: Yeah, I was gonna say, Well I love it, but it do I do I love it? It's f it's okay, but it took way too long. M2: It's is it like feels more new than what was there before? Yeah, but like, my God, I feel like there's like city plot M1: It's fresh, it's nice and fresh. M2: but I feel like go to New York, go to Boston, there's like city plazas that they just like pop up that look like that. I don't know. So I'm thinking about that, but then it's like there's a but you know, monstropolis walls. I'm like, okay, but it's like not that big of a deal. Magic Kingdom has the walls, which again aren't that big of a deal, but I'm like M1: The magic kingdom walls are not amazing because they really affect like sight lines over there. M2: You can see yeah, wait the big dirt patch. Mouse let's lower here a little bit. Let me roll a bit. I still remember completely the new Fantasyland walls. Do you? Like entirely. I also remember M1: Yes. M2: the Toy Storyland, that blue wall by Pixar Place. M1: I don't remember that one that well. M2: my god, that one like that is so clear in my mind. That was from I think our twenty fourteen trip. M1: For some reason, that one isn't that clear, but the Fantasyland ones, we the Fantasyland project is the first project that I, the first big expansion that I think was really happening in our sort of like lifetime at Disney. It's definitely the first one that I remember. So I remember that we our family was like so excited. And we have pictures of us standing in front of the construction walls and like the concept art in front of the construction walls. They're so vivid to me. M2: And two of those pictures, there's two things that live rent-free in my mind from those. Do you what they are? Well, that too, but no. Well M1: Our outfits. M2: sort of one thing something's tied to an outfit. I was wearing an ankle brace. So classic. And M1: that's classic. M2: then we were like mimicking Pete's face in one of the pictures. M1: Yes, because there was a there's a picture that we took by like the Pete's some Pete's Toontown thing, but not like the Pete's Garage thing. No, it wasn't Pete's Garage. No, it was a sign. It was a sign. Yeah. M2: Pete's Garage, Pete's silly sideshow. It was a wall. Yeah, it was a wall. It was a wall. M1: Yeah, I guess. I guess. Anyways, those walls were iconic to me. I feel as though we're in an exciting time because we're getting so much new stuff, which is really fun. But like tropical, like Animal Kingdom right now, woof. M2: my god, that there's a wall I forgot about. You walk over to Dino Land, it's like, whoo. I M1: Wolf. M2: mean, already the like the theater of the wild we're finding Nemo is that theater is a stink. I like the show. M1: Stop saying st stop saying stink. Stop saying stink. M2: What do you want me to say? Sucks. M1: It's not the greatest. I don't know. Not stink. M2: You know, guess who's listening to this podcast? M1: Your co your coworker? M2: Mama Mouselit and when I was a child, I went to the gap and the Starbucks near us, as we just spoke about. There was a white car that someone had painted the word suck on it in black like spray paint. And I read the word, I said suck. And Mama Mousel told me she was gonna wash my mouth out with soap for saying suck, which is crazy, honestly. M1: Okay, okay. Well, when I was in like a M2: Ha ha M1: senior in high school or something, I was in Mama Mouselit's room at night in the dark, and I walked into the hallway and I drove right here, like this my shoulder slash like arm into the corner of a dresser and it hurt so badly. And I said F-R-I-C-K. I said frick. And Mama Mama Mouselit like freaked out at me and I said, I didn't even say what you're like implying that I said. And she said, no, I I know that you didn't say that. Frick is an unacceptable word. Anyways M2: Yeah, well, it's been bludgeoned into my mind to not say the word sucks. And so I say stinks. Okay. That theater stinks. M1: Okay. You know M2: The outside of the vibe of it, the look of it stinks. Made worse by the fact that there's a bunch of walls. Tropical Americans will really help it. Can we please get into some news? I have something very important to say. Do to to to to to to to do to to goodbye to the Atlantic dance hall. It's M1: I'm I can see this in the spreadsheet and I feel sick. My heart actually just sunk. I feel ill. What happened? I'm sick. I'm sick. I'm sick. What does that even mean? Seriously, I'm sick to my stomach. M2: becoming it's they're closing it and it will only be open for private events. It's so unpopular. It's I'm crying, honestly, I am. M1: Are you joking? I feel like I could cry. I'm sick. Why? Why? You know what? You know what? You were one of its haters. M2: Like yeah, I just saw it. I just saw it like right before it. Yep. Beginning October first, it's ending its operations and will only be available for private events. M1: You were one of its haters. I was one of its lovers. I went there at my bachelorette party and I had an amazing M2: I brought you there. I planned that Bachelorette party. So M1: I had an amazing time. M2: Here's the thing. If you don't know what this is, the Atlantic Dance Hall is on the boardwalk and it's basically it there's a no cover charge and it's like a dance hall. They play like a DJ, they play music, and like anyone can just show up and dance. They've you there's a bar and stuff. It's really fun. Except there are like I don't want to s like I don't know how to say this other than like flo like M1: Yeah, be like be careful, be careful. M2: f like locals, like just Floridian locals that are like these single older men. Some of them are probably just there for a good time. Some of them are creepy. And they're just like lining the outside. Not that many, but the but they line the walls M1: They line the w yeah, they line the walls. M2: and just kind of like watch you. And like that was weird. M1: No, it was guys, what day of the week was it when we went? It was, I mean, my bachelor was over a weekend. M2: It was a Friday or a Saturday, so M1: Yeah, so it definitely was like a time that people would be there. It was we were the stars of the show. Okay. My bachelor art party, we were literally like, no. Yeah. But we M2: We met someone someone f mouseless, falls and mouseless, it was in there. It was fun. M1: we were tearing up the dance floor and kind of like bringing the dance floor to life in the best way. But I wouldn't say that it was like popping in there, like without our presence. People don't know. M2: But I think that people like don't I bet a lot of people listening don't even know what it was or is. They didn't really promote it, but they would do like these like Disney Channel nights and stuff sometimes. I feel like they could have made use of that space way better. But I think it's interesting because Hurley Burley Jazz Club that we were just talking about is opening soon. And so I find it interesting M1: Yes, that's weird. M2: because I think that there's like a good link between jelly rolls and the dance hall. And I think it's M1: Well, I wonder if they're gonna turn it into something else, like revamp it. Well, for now. For now. Okay, M2: No no no, they're just keeping it for private events. maybe. M1: I will say when I used to sort of like think about having a Disney wedding and just kind of be like, would I ever have a Disney wedding? I would look at the places that you can have a reception. And I like wanted a specific vibe. And really the only place that I personally felt would fit that vibe was the Atlantic dance hall. It M2: It's so M1: You probably can't really M2: interesting. M1: picture it from how we saw it at night, but if you see daytime pictures of it, like it has like a checkerboard floor and and stuff like that. Anyways, I'm devastated. M2: I'm intrigued by that. M1: I'm devastated, devastated, devastated, devastated to hear this news. Disney, I'm going to be there chaining myself to Atlantic Dance Hall, metaphorically speaking, of course. And you know what? I feel a connection to it. I'm actually sick. Stop. M2: You've and just to be clear, we've you've been one singular time. They they have a special they even have a special Instagram page. M1: Stop. Stop. I need to move on. Stop. I'm sick to my stomach. Next up. M2: Sick. M1: Animation Courtyard in better news. The animation courtyard area and off the page is now open. I have not watched like a full tour of this yet, but I've seen lots of content of different places. And I have to say, I am absolutely loving what they did here. If you don't know, this is based off of the short that they did for Disney 100, whose name is currently escaping me. Do you know the name of that short? M2: I'm I'm thinking of a different thing that had Robin Williams. I think we're talking about different shorts, but M1: Okay, we're a hundred percent talking about different shorts. Hang on, guys, I'm looking it up. Disney's Once Upon a Studio. And this was a short where like all of the Disney characters came to life in the animation studio and and were kind of interacting in in honor of Disney 100. And so they took that and they brought it to life here. And so, you know, they you can look into the animators, you know, the quote unquote animators' offices and like stitches there, like spinning around on a chair and stuff. And that's why Olaf Is who's teaching you how to draw. And I just think that this is a really, really fun idea that Hollywood Studios needed. And I can't wait to see it in person. M2: They just brought it to life and created a space that you can like if say all the lines are super busy and you could just go in there and take an animation class. Although I know those lines have been long, but just like explore and run around the playground. Like this is what we did. We needed that. We needed like other spaces like that. Like literally people say like third spaces. That's what Disney needs. Beyond just the rides and like the restaurants, whatever it needs, just like places to chill. So I'm very excited about that. Also, they've been bringing out some rare characters in the courtyard. Susie and Perla were M1: I know. We M2: out. M1: my god, I love Susie and Pearla because I was Susie or Pearla, I do not remember which one, in a play when I was a child. I think it was Suzy. And I always thought M2: I think you're a pearla. M1: that Pearla was a more iconic name, and I kind of was like slightly sad that it wasn't Pearla. I'm pretty sure I was Susie. M2: Your friend was dirty laundry in that show. M1: And she has like literal trauma from that. Like genuinely, she is very sad. M2: I mean, that was crazy of them. That was crazy of them. So, okay, other news. Food and wine is currently in full swing. Just feel like we're not giving that much attention to food and wine. It started on August 27th. It runs through November 21st. It's the 30th anniversary. There's live concerts, there's different activities, there's global cuisine. Food and wine is my least favorite Epcot festival. But I'm excited to give it a try when we go in November, because we're going in November. We'll talk about that. For Jollywood. We'll talk about that later. Different episode. M1: Yeah. Coral Reef restaurant reopened September twenty-ninth. They were doing a refurb. I'm not sure if there actually expected to be any visual changes or if it was just kind of like a refresh. but it will be reopened soon. I don't well, I'll go to the next one. This is another do do do. M2: Every single rider is M1: Because I don't I don't know what the one after it means literally at all. M2: The every single rider is permanently closed. You know, I mean, it M1: This is devastating. This is devastating. M2: is devastating. I did a whole video about this. We can get into it more. I'll talk about it in my fun fact, actually. So stay till the end. Okay. Milestone achievement for the Disney Believe as first Gigablock floats out, including the Grand Hall. The Disney Believe is the new cruise ship coming, and they're build, they're constructing it, and a huge piece of it just floated out. So it's like it's really progressing. It was cool to see. I guess I can't believe you didn't see that. M1: I didn't see it. And like when I was reading this thing, that is clearly a headline that you copy and pasted. Milestone achievement. M2: Yeah. M1: Okay. For Disney believe. I was like, what is that? But I know now. As first gigablock, what floats out at Meyer Worf Shipyard? What includes Grand Hall? I literally was like, my brain just exploded. Okay. I saw this. No, I did see this. It was really interesting. M2: Okay, well there you go. I'll do the next one 'cause you're not gonna understand this one either. I thought this okay, go for it. M1: Disney villains were wearing custom ponchos for a rainy day parade at Tokyo Disneyland, and you're probably like, what? But they literally were clear ponchos that were like perfectly tailored around their costumes. The most iconic one to me was Dr. Facilier's top hat. M2: Maleficent. M1: Dr. Facilier's top hat, it literally was like fitted to have like the brim. And then like it was exactly fitted to go over the top hat. M2: Maleficent horns had like a special thing. They were really cool. M1: Yeah, it was really cool. M2: I don't think they would bring those to our parks, but I sort of wish they would. M1: You know what's actually so crazy? Something at Disney World that we have never seen is the rainy day cavalcade that they do. M2: That's false. I have videos of it and we have seen it. M1: I've never seen it. That they do instead of the parade, not just a random cavalcade. M2: Okay. Yes. Yeah. It's not a random cavalcade. They sit in the bus in the vehicles and they will have there's yellow ponchos for like the M1: I've never seen it. M2: okay, you have. I probably have a picture of you in front of it, which I will try to dig up. So you have. M1: I've never seen it. Okay, next up, go ahead. M2: Go for the train is fully closed from September twenty eighth through October twenty ninth. M1: No you skipped you skipped one. You skipped one. M2: No? Did I? M1: Okay, you know what? I'm actually excited to see this piece of news. I did not know this before reading this. Also, you're being very sniffly. Would you like to blow your nose? M2: No, it's like I it was my water bottle. I had to wash it this morning. M1: Because it was Milty Week, guys, making her sick. Anyways, the recreation schedules are now available via QR codes at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. You know what? Something that we have an issue with. Whenever we're at a Disney hotel and we get back from the park, we say, Is the pool open? And it's impossible to find out. It's actually extremely annoying. It's really hard. M2: You can call them and they have no idea 'cause you're not actually calling the front desk. M1: You're calling like a call center. And this is a problem that we often have. And so I actually appreciate making recreation schedules, potentially hours like that things more accessible to me. Cause a lot of times the recreation schedules you can only find on like a random board in the lobby or by the pool. And if you don't see it, then you don't know what's going on. So I actually love this news. M2: And yet you hated thank you, thank you, 'cause you hated on that piece of news. And I was like, That's odd. Okay. That's M1: I just didn't understand it, but now I do. M2: the news. I think I ca I pulled that together and that was a pretty excellent news rundown, if I do say so myself. M1: I am per usual twitching, worrying that some news is missed. You guys know that I like to curate the news, but we are moving on because I wish we had tiki music. Da da da da da da da da da da da da. wait, guys. If you know, you know. Happy honeymoon. M2: No no no no Okay help pause that that's like nineteen like forties New York like Ha mo ha M1: Do do do happy honeymoon. Yes, yes. M2: The entire family, including I think Mous Lit A potentially, sang that song and I just and I was like not a part of it for some reason. May the M1: Do you know what that song actually is? M2: merry bells keep ringing and tons here Happy Holidays Bing Crosby, M1: Honeymoon yeah, it's M2: holiday in everybody. M1: But we sort of adapted it to say happy honeymoon. Anyways. M2: I thought we had tiki music. We do. M1: Polynesian village resort and room. There we go, guys. Mouslit 2 M2: Close enough from our Polynesian deep dive. M1: is going on her honeymoon to Olani. And if you don't know, two years ago I went on my honeymoon to Olani. So we figured that for today, we are going to do kind of a classic Mouse Litz deep resort deep dive into Olani, talking about the history and what you can experience now. But we're also going to be throwing in things about Mouse Lit 2's trip. So Mouse too will be talking about some of the things that she has planned or that she's most excited about. I'll be talking about some of like my tips for her, my experiences. But let's start at the very beginning talking about the history of M2: The very best place to start. M1: DVC. So DVC started, it was originally just called the Disney Vacation Club Resort. That was the first DVC resort. It eventually became Old Key West Resort. it opened in 1991. And so in the early days, Disney was kind of expanding DVC, not just at Walt Disney World. So they started with Old Key West at Walt Disney World, but then they ended up making a resort at Vero Beach, Florida. They also made a resort at Hilton Head. So they didn't plan to only keep it where Disney parks existed. over the next like decade, they opened a bunch at Disney World and then, M2: Wait, wait, but I think there's something interesting that you skipped over a very important second bullet that I wrote that you neglected to say. This is really weird. In nineteen ninety one, okay, December 20th of 1991, Old Key West opened as the Disney Vacation Club Resort. But in nineteen ninety one, before that, Disney registered its timeshare plan with the state of High Hawaii and just like it said did not establish an escrow agreement allowing the company to advertise but not sell timeshare interests. Meaning that this was like The first of Disney talking about a timeshare and it started in Hawaii. I can't believe you skipped that. That's probably the most interesting bullet. No, it's not. There's way more interesting ones later, guys. Keep M1: Yeah. M2: listening. M1: Anyways, after they sort of expanded like that, a bunch of other stuff opened at Walt Disney World. And then on October 3rd, 2007, Disney officially announced that they were going to be opening a vacation club resort in Koalina, which is an area of Hawaii that we're going to talk about a little bit later. But they said that it would include DVC rooms, it would include standard rooms, and it opened as Olani in August 2011. before that, They were selling timeshares there and whatever. An interesting thing is that Olani has been on sale as a timeshare basically since it opened. So if you want to buy into D V C there, Olani is still available. Do you want to talk about this little interesting asterisk? M2: This was I did a lot of digging into the history of Olani. And this was like prominent, front and center, everywhere. Every news article. Like this, I don't remember learning about this, but maybe some of you do. On August 12th of 2011, Disney suspended Olani's timeshare sales and terminated three executives, including the Disney Vacation Club president Jim Lewis. Sorry, Jim. The decision was made in response to senior management's recognition that the annual dues were set way too low to adequate adequately cover maintenance costs. That was like M1: Kinda seems like a huge mess up. M2: it was like a huge scandal. And it was, I mean, that makes sense. It was all over like we have a newspapers.com subscription. This was literally everywhere. so I thought that that was very interesting. I also found another fun piece of research as I was reading about it, which is that as Disney was planning expansions, they did Vero Beach in Hilton Head in 2011, they purchased land near National Harbor, Maryland with plans to develop a resort near Washington, DC. In 2011, in November, they canceled them. M1: I assume that was not the Disney's America resort. That was earlier. It's interesting M2: It was not. Yeah. M1: that Disney has had two different projects that were supposed to happen kind of in the like DC area that have both not come to fruition. If you don't know about Disney's America, we have a full YouTube deep dive up about it. M2: Deep dive, deep dive count. But that's yeah, that's the little history of D V C. But then to actually get into about like Olanium, what it is. So Mouse One mentioned Ko O Koolina. This is a very this is cool. This is like kind of like a master planning thing. It's a six hundred and forty two acre master planned vacation and residential community on the Leeward coast of Oahu, west of Honolulu. If you don't know your Hawaii geography, for example, I didn't really. Honolulu, where it's like the capital. As well as where the airport is, is located on the island of Oahu. It's not the biggest island. It's just like what's one of the islands. And that's where Olani is, which is very convenient. Koolina has two miles of coastal frontage and includes three natural and four man-made lagoons with white sand beaches. Very important that we'll talk on in a minute. The planned resort community is owned by like a Honolulu-based company, but it created four hotels in this area: Olani, Marriott's Koolina Beach Club, the beach villas at Koolina, and the four seasons. there's also this like a variety of different villas. But some M1: I was gonna say the four seasons is like Olami, you can reach out and go like this to the four seasons. They are so close. Not in a bad way. It's just very close. Yeah. M2: Yeah. People go a lot of people told us to go to the Four Seasons. So M1: Yeah, we we're told that too. M2: but Koolina, like actually on the island, it was a part of an original and this is from Disney's website, just for reference. So this is how they described it. It was part of an original Royal Land Division that extended from the waters of Pearl Harbor to the summit of the Waianae Range. It was a sacred place used for rest and relaxation. And in the mid-1980s, a developer Came in, purchased it, and designed these four man-made lagoons, which literally are called Lagoon One, Lagoon Two, Lagoon Three, Lagoon Four, which I like actually despise. I think that's awful. I think that's terrible naming. And then they built a resort, a hotel, just one, which like closed and four seasons eventually bought it. So there's kind of like a whole sort of story about how they came here. Obviously, like when you're building on on any of the islands of Hawaii, it's like a big deal. And so this area was spent. Slated and being developed by resorts. And that's why Disney ended up in that area. And it is really out of the way. Like it is a drive to get to anything. And that's like you prop did you rent a car? I assume, yes. M1: Yeah. And so basically like Honolulu and Waikiki, which is sort of the most like built-up area of the island, are on the like southeast ish corner. And then Olany and Koalina are on the west coast. And then most of the activities to do outside of Waikiki are on the north coast, the north shore. So Olani and Kohalina are in this like very beautiful area. But yeah, the island isn't that big. So it's like 45 minutes from the airport to Olani. It's really not that bad. But you are kind of always venturing away. There's not a ton to do over in that spot. M2: Yeah, which I thought was very interesting. And the like whole history of Coalina is very interesting. Those lagoons, which I'll talk about more, but those are all beaches in Hawaii are open to the public. So like our friend didn't say to Lani just went to the lagoons. Like you can go there. So it's yeah, it's very interesting. M1: The lagoons are lagooning, I will say. They are giving lagoon. They give man made lagoon. Like M2: I mean they're connected to the ocean, just in case that's not clear, but like there's not waves. There's like ripples. M1: Yes. No. It's nice, but it's like a specific vibe. M2: Yeah, it's not like a beachfront thing. okay, also the word Olani in Hawaiian means message from the chief. Other things I saw said it meant orange, but Disney says it means message from the chief, and there's multiple meanings. And if it uses a name, it means message from the chief. it costs $800 million to build, which honestly is actually not as much as I would have thought. It created a lot of about a thousand jobs, so like people from the island were able to work there. it was designed by Joe Roadie of Walt Disney Imagineering, which is really cool. And Mouse One has a lot of like details to talk about. And then Disney vice president Juan Rivers as well managed the project. And then they had a series of like architects that helped. They also had an advisory council of Hawaiian elders to ensure authenticity to Hawaiian culture. If Joe Roadie did Animal Kingdom. If you know anything about him, he does Tropical Americas, like he does it right. He does the research. He like talks to the right people. And so that's one of the reasons that Olani feels I don't know if authentic is the right word, but like it recognizes the culture. So M1: Yeah, there's something that Joe Rhody talks about and the Imaginaries talk about, which is that when they were designing Wolani, they had this concept of big H little D, which means like Hawaii big Disney kind of secondary subtle. And when I went on an like arts and culture tour that they were offering, and when they talk about every piece of like artwork and architecture and How it ties back to native Hawaiian culture, the detail that they put in. And in this case, more than other Disney places, like it's real. You know how in other Disney places they're like recreating Africa. This isn't really like recreating Hawaii. It's just kind of like paying respect to the place that it is actually in. It's really cool. M2: Yeah, that's very interesting. M1: Yeah, and like very authentic. But so to move on a little bit to like a breakdown of the resort. So, like I think I said earlier, it's 21 oceanfront acres. And it's these two towers. So there's 15 stories on either side. I'm gonna do my best to pronounce these words: the Wainai Tower and the Iwa Iwa Tower. And so the towers on either side are then connected by like a lower lobby in the middle. The resort opened with 351 hotel rooms, including 16 suites, and 481 two-bedroom equivalent Disney Vacation Club units. And DVC has all sorts of things there, deluxe studios, up to three bedroom grand villas. Then the central lobby that I talked about that connects the two buildings is called the Maka Ala Lobby. And this is in the shape of a traditional Hawaiian canoe house. And there's like an opening where out where you can look out towards the ocean. M2: Is it literally open or are there like garage doors that can come down in case of a storm? M1: I think they're like giant doors. I don't think it's like, M2: Time extends. M1: yeah, I don't think it's like literally open. But in there, there's this massive mural, like massive, massive thing that like pays is literally like the story of like Hawaiian people through the time. It's like it's very cool and again, very authentic in there. And then something that I loved, this was one of my favorite things, is that the Hawaiians have like a folklore of these people called the many hoon. And they're supposed to be these like little people who are these magical builders. And so they can come overnight and like build things and whatever. It's like a big part of Hawaiian folklore. And so rather than hiding tons of hidden Mickeys, even though of course there are hidden Mickeys, they hid tons of these little Menehoon statues all over the resort. So there's actually like a whole Menehoon play area for kids that's like themed around it. But throughout the resort are the Menehoon, and we loved finding all the different little like many who and peeking around. They're so cute. And I love that they did that. It's like it feels very Disney, like something to search for, but like also Hawaiian. I think it was really smart. M2: Yeah, I'm excited to see that. Getting back to the water. So again, I'm gonna struggle with a few of these names, but the water features make up a seven acre central courtyard. So when you're in the towers, what something kind of cool is that a lot of the rooms have a very good view. And so there's like a big inner courtyard where you can see all of the water and the lagoon, and then there's partial ocean views, and then there's like island garden views, and then yeah, there's like parking lot views. But that big area is very iconic to like pictures of Olani. it is called the Waikalohe Valley Valley, and then they have a lazy river. So this is one of the big defining things that Olani has that makes it so unique. It's a 900-foot lazy river, rock caverns, mist effects. It has hidden animals. So, like kind of like the tree of life, honestly, like a lot like the tree of life. It feels very Joe Roadie. But you can spot, I've learned this from all the vlogs I've been watching, but you can spot all of these animals like. M1: Not from the video that I made where I talked about that? M2: Which you made today or yesterday, and I've been watching these for weeks. No, but cool that you posted about it too. it also has the Pu Kilo Central Rock Formation that has two water slides, the tube stone curl tube slide and the volcano vertical body slide. Did you do those? D which M1: We did. We did both. They're fun. M2: one did you like most? I heard it's hard to get a tube. I heard it's very hard to get a tube. M1: I'm always a tube sli, I was gonna say I'm always a tube slide gal. Like the the the they're both fun, but I just love a tube slide. M2: Is the volcano vertical like humunga kaobunga? Okay. Thank God. M1: No. They kind of talk it up though. I was literally like, yeah, I was like reading the description of this when I was making my video about pools and beaches the other day. And I found the way that they were talking about it, I was like, okay, guys, like settle down. They were making it sound like it's so intense, like it's not that intense. M2: Like it's like it's scary or what? M1: They were making it sound like it's like humanga kawabanga. Like it's like a like a voosh and it's like not that crazy. M2: Do you wanna give a little bit of context as to what humongous is? M1: let's see. Humonga Kalavanga is a set of water slides at Typhoon Lagoon. And it's your it's a body slide. And when you go down, the water is shoots up with such force. I'll just say you get the world's largest wedgie, amongst perhaps other things going on. M2: Amongst other things. M1: Amongst other things going on. It is like an insane experience. This slide is nothing like that. But they kind of M2: It's not yeah. M1: Make it sound like that in the website description, which I thought was interesting. M2: That is interesting. Well, I'm excited to try both of those. they also have the Rainbow Reef. This is a forty thirty, eight hundred square foot, 165,000 gallon man made saltwater snorkeling lagoon containing thousands of reef fish, including tings, butterfly fish, and rays. This is the only place that I am snorkeling. I know you snorkeled at Shark's Cove. Unfortunately, this is like a random area in Hawaii that they found that there's like sewage leaking into it. Like, They just like did a whole big expose on it. So like we're not gonna be going there. So we'll be snorkeling there. You can do regular snorkeling. You can rent snorkels either for one day. I think it's like thirty dollars or for your whole trip. But you can also do these tanks that Mouse of One did, or you can even scuba, I believe, in there as well. M1: Yeah, I actually was looking today because I was trying to figure out what the name of those tanks were called. I actually didn't see those listed anywhere. So I was like, maybe it's only when you're there. I'm not sure. But the scuba thing, they had like basically two hour scuba lessons you could do. I think this description, 3,800 square feet, 165,000 gallons, make it so big. It's not that it's M2: Huge. Yeah, I know. It's pretty small. M1: yeah, it's not that it's like not big, but it's not big. It's not that big. It's fun, but it's not that big. I think unless the snorkels are like extremely inexpensive to just do for additional days, I would just do once. Like you kind of do it once and you're like, okay, I kinda saw it. M2: Yeah, I don't think we're gonna we're really gonna do it like another time, but I am excited to do it. I think it'll be fun. I snorkels really hurt my like my big tooth. So learned that the hard way from all of the snorkels. M1: What's what's what is quote your big tooth? Your mono M2: Teeth. These two. These two teeth. M1: monotooth? M2: No, but like when we snorkeled on the cruise, and I was reminded from just doing the cruise vlog editing, which is up if you want to watch our cruise that we took at Halloween last year. the snorkel was like driving into like above my lip and like destroying my tooth. It killed. Yeah, M1: I remember you saying that now that I think about it. M2: and it was unfortunate. okay, other things. They have a variety of different pools. I'm actually gonna let Mouse at one talk about those in a minute. I'll talk for the lagoon quick because You have a better handle on the pools. but then there's also the Koholo Kohola Lagoon, aka Lagoon One. Boo, boo. That names the war Lagoon One. It's one of Koolina's M1: But basically it's just a beach. Like it's the beach. M2: Koholina's four man-made ocean lagoons protected by rock jetties. So they have like paddle boarding, they boogie boarding. They've there's sand there. It is a beach. It's connected to the ocean. but it's like very much like a cove and like protected from like Any big it's like a it's like gives like lake energy from what I've been watching. M1: Yes, it gets like energy, which I think is really actually nice. It is sort of the when you're at the pools, you like, I wouldn't mind like now sort of taking a break being in the waves, and you don't really have that as you you do not have that as an option. I also remember that we took like a little, I don't even know what you would call it. Literally like the boat that Moana's on. Like that's what the boat acad. M2: A catamaran, yes. That we'll talk about that later. M1: Yeah, we took one of those out. And I remember that getting from the cove to the actual ocean. It literally was like giving the movie Moana when she's trying to like leave the reef or whatever, because you're like going into actual waves then. It's very interesting. anyways, to talk about the pools. So there's the main pool, which is the like Waikalohe pool. That's the pool that's near the water slide and the the lazy river. It's good. It's a regular pool. But then there's the Kamakagrotto pool. This was like one of my favorite pools. It's an infinity pool overlooking the beach. So number one. The views are just really fun, but it also has this grotto thing, which has like cool places that you can look out. at night, the grotto lights up to look like like the night sky. And in that pool, if you put your head underwater, you can hear sounds of like dolphins and whales. It's very like immersive pool. There's also an adults-only pool off to the side, like a little bit of ways away, which is nice if you like need a break. And then also there's a bunch of spas, hot tubs. I don't know why Disney doesn't call them hot tubs. I guess that's like uncouth in their eyes. there's a bunch of spas. They M2: Yeah, they do say a spa. They love to say spa. M1: they always say spots. Like it's a hot tub. There's like five different hot tubs, but two of them are adults only, which again, so nice because the nice kids like kind of overrun hot tubs. my god. M2: My Polynesian experience when there were literally like nineteen children in the hot tub with us. Yeah, I'm excited about that. M1: Yes, it's so nice. And those two hot tubs are also infinity hot tubs overlooking the beach. So I just feel like they have a lot of really, really unique pools and like even the pool itself, if you're not doing activity, is like a fun place to be. M2: I'm excited about all the pools. The grotto pool seems really fun, although I feel like it might just be busy. Like, I feel like a lot of people are like, my kids love that pool. The adult pool to me looks, I'm like, okay. Like it looks like it could be like the swaned M1: It's M2: dolphin. I'm like, it's like a fine pool. Like if I wanted to escape chaos or if there like children's activities, maybe I would pop over there. Obviously, the lazy river looks really fun. I think I'll want to be like the lagoon. Me and Mel Cay water shoes. I did a whole much video about how there's like sea urchins at a beach nearby, Olani. And I said, maybe I'll get water shoes. M1: Interesting. The it's so like nothing like you can see down in the water. It's so there's like nothing going on in the lagoon in terms of I feel like like animals or anything. My thing with the beach, but the lagoon, I found that the beach like chair situation was very chaotic. It's not that big. So there weren't that many chairs and they're really close together. And I just remember M2: Yeah. M1: our home base was always up by the pool and then we come down to go to the beach. M2: We have like we're bringing towels. I don't know if you brought towels because you were going so many other places. We're bringing like the sands, like type towels. So M1: No, we definitely did not. M2: yeah, so we might kinda 'cause we're going to the beach in Waikiki, which is like yeah, a whole nother I guess I'm meant to mention. One of the reasons the beach isn't as like critical is 'cause we're doing two days in Waikiki and like going to that beach and staying right on the ocean there. So I feel like this is like a good kind of a good mix for us. M1: Yeah, I think you'll spend so much time in the Lazy River. I think you're gonna really like looking for the animals. Mouseless C and I loved doing that and like finding new ones as we went around. And it's just like for us, the Lazy River actually wasn't that crowded because I feel like there's so many places people are spreading out. I don't know. I'm gonna talk next about the dining options. I was very pleasantly surprised with the food at Alani in general. So they have two sort of sit-down restaurants. The first is Makahiki. This is like a buffet type place. So they have a character breakfast with Disney characters. there's like Mickey, Max, Goofy, and Pluto, I think. Very cute. M2: You did that, right? M1: Yes, we did that. I rem we did like the first seating of the day. We were like the only people in the restaurant, which was very fun in terms of the characters. I remember M2: We're doing like a seven fifty or seven thirty or something, I think, which is M1: It'll probably be similar. M2: yeah. M1: You meet Mickey outside first, which I really liked because you could get like a very nice picture with him. The inside of that restaurant, like kind of doesn't have very good lighting. So it was like nice to get like a good picture with Mickey and then inside it didn't matter as much. I do remember that we had like a very authentic Hawaiian dish that I wasn't crazy about for a meal. And then they M2: But it's not a yeah, you can get like separate plated food. So you ordered that. M1: Yes, we chose to do that. And then they M2: okay. M1: have a three course dinner at night, which I actually didn't even remember that I did, but I was looking at pictures today and I saw it and I was like, my god, wait, we did do this and it was very good. But then M2: We're doing that and we've been very tentative about if we want to keep that dinner or not. M1: I mean I it was really good. It wasn't like M2: People said you can get the same food from off the hook. I don't know, off the cuff? Off the cook. Okay. M1: Off the hook. It didn't like wow beyond belief. Is it later in your trip? I feel like you can kind of play it by ear. then Ama Ama. This is like their signature restaurant, basically. It's open air, it's beautiful. It's looks out onto the water. It's literally so pretty. It's like a multi-course experience. This is the meal that Mouse Let C literally cried at because he M2: Please provide some context 'cause like I don't understand how food could be so delicious that he cried. M1: No, this is what happened. We were sitting there. It was like the most amazing vibe. We had gotten drinks. Mouse let sea got this like ube drink. It was like an ube ice cube that as it melted, it let more ube into the drink. Mouse Let C is Filipino. Ube is like a huge thing. This drink was like really, really good. And he was like, my gosh, this is so fun. Then we're eating this meal. We had this amazing appetizer. It was so good. And then whatever he was having this fish, it came out. And it was just like so good. And he was like, my God. This fish is amazing. We're sitting here in like the most beautiful place in the world. I'm eating this like unbelievably amazing food. I never thought that I would get to have something like this. I never thought that I would get to be in a place like this. And he got emotional and he started crying. M2: Okay, so this is like honeymoon feels. This isn't like the food was so delicious. M1: But it was because it was tr it was triggered by the deliciousness of the fish and how he never thought that he would eat a fish so delicious. He this restaurant was seriously amazing. M2: The fact that the food was that good that he that's insane. I mean, we we actually considered not going. I'll tell you that. We considered not you know that, but everyone listening. We considered not going here. I've been watching I mentioned a bunch of times, a lot of vlogs. One of them is Ordinary Adventures, this like YouTube account that I just discovered. Fun fact there was a man at D twenty three that I saw like 30 times and I said, Who is that man? And it was him. Never seen him before. I just we just like saw each other over and over. Anyway. They said it was a little too fancy dancy for them, fancy dancy pancakes. And I think I might exp M1: It is M2: I we're not me and you aren't really foodies in like an elevated way. Like people who hate on Chef Mickey, I'm like, guys, Chef Mickey M1: No, I checking is amazing. M2: is yeah, like I I do I like to go to Jico? Do I like to go to Tiffin's like at Disney World? Yes. But like I don't yeah, I'm not like a foodie. I don't know if I have the appreciation. But we'll see. I don't really eat at fancy restaurants ever. M1: I didn't feel like this was, you know, so fancy, honestly. I felt like it was felt really special. Like it was such a beautiful view. They're treating you with great service. But like you're still outside like beachfront. So I didn't, it's not like you're that like Victorian Alberts, where I think it would feel extremely, perhaps stressfully fancy. I didn't feel like that at all. M2: I just want to give people like an example of what is here because this is it's like four courses and you it's fixed price, price fixed, whatever that's called. but the entrees, so local catch with hearts of palm and asparagus is a fish, obviously, like and caviar. Okay, strike, don't eat caviar, scallops with bacon, cauliflower, salsa verde, brussels sprouts, Ica ink ravioli with scallops and shrimps, pea and mince, smoked trout, duck. Penioli, Kobe ribeye, I assume that's what you got. And lamb. In fact, I'm not seeing anything vegetarian on this menu, but I'm sure they have something. So, like, just in general, I'm sure they ch change things out, but like it is all very just like very elevated stuff. So M1: Yes, and it's like the food is presented in like a very beautiful way. I think mostly like I thought the food was delicious. I mostly think it's a really like fun, special experience. Like it feels really special. M2: I'm excited. I'm excited to try it where you've like a dressier outfits for that night. So I'm excited about that one. M1: The next up, the Olelo room. I honestly, like for some reason, absolutely loved the Olelo room. I thought it was really cool. It's a lounge. It's like an indoor-outdoor lounge. And every there in the wall, there's like lots of different things. I don't even know. Like just literally like sculptures of things. And the Hawaiian word for that thing is under it. And hidden in there, there's a Mickey Mouse with a word for mouse. And then there's the Disneyland Castle replica with a word for castle. Which is just like cool to find. But I thought the vibe in here was a really, really cool. And there's an outdoor area as well. This is where Mouse Let C and I ate the first night. There was like a a woman dancing the hula with like a ukulele player. It was such like a peaceful vibe. You're sitting at a high top. It's like completely out in the middle of the Olani, you know, valley thing. So you're like looking at the resort. I just thought it was really, really serene and beautiful. And the food was actually very good. It's like smaller bites. So that's the Alala room. Then their quick service is called the Ulu Cafe. This is kind of standard quick service. However, this is where the Mickey Masubis are, which I don't even think either of you will be eating. But for people listening, those M2: We will not. M1: that's where you can get the Mickey Masubis. They had really, really good overnight like overnight chia pudding oats things that I was obsessed with, very fresh. I thought the food here was good. M2: Okay, one of the things they have there, refillable resort mugs. Every single TikTok, every single video, everyone's obsessed with these refillable resort mugs that you can buy a mug. They're like 40 bucks. And then you can fill them up. A lot of people drink soda. We don't really drink soda, although I drink Power Aid sometimes, but I don't think I'll really want that that much. But I'm like, and you can get coffee, people said. I think those are kind of the things that you put in there, but like they have better lattes and stuff. Me and Mel Slater are like, I can't really see ourselves getting into these mugs. And a perfect example is the fact that Walt Disney World resorts have refillable resort mugs. M1: Yeah. I was gonna say been there seen that not personally for us. M2: But I but I like I can't even same thing with fillable popcorn buckets. I don't know if I would find the value. I don't know. I don't but I know a lot of people listening are like, those are amazing. And I kind of think a lot of people drink soda. Like people want like a diet coke or like a soda. And like we wouldn't want that. The only reason I'm considering it is like Mouse Leday drinks two coffees a day. And then while we are gonna get like a fun coffee, I'm sure, and you're gonna about to get to that. But Like, it would be nice if she could like fill up with a quick coffee. Like, maybe I do want a lemonade when I'm out at the pool. Like, I don't really drink much alcohol. So, like, while I would maybe get something, maybe I would. But I'm like, 40 bucks, that would be like eight drinks. So I think M1: Yeah, I mm M2: we're gonna skip those, but I just want to acknowledge them that like everyone's obsessed with them. And people buy like four. Like everyone in their family has one. I'm like, well, if we bought one, we would be sharing the drink. We'd be M1: Yeah. Yeah, I don't M2: taking the big six sip sips of it, rinsing it, you know. So. M1: Yeah, I don't know that you guys need that to be honest. speaking of drinks, I guess, off the hook off the hook is where I remember getting lattes. Like, I I don't remember what else they have. I I would assume that it's other things than that. But that's where I M2: Yeah, they have a ton they have tons of food. They have just like quick service food. Lobster rolls M1: Okay. M2: of bacon. Watching a lot of stuff about it of late. They have a lot of the M1: Okay. M2: same food that they have at Makahiki for dinner. M1: I do remember this. We got lunch here a couple days because it's like a sit-down, it's more of like a sit-down bar, poolside bar thing. But in the mornings they had coffees here that we would get. And then there is mama's snack shop and Papalua Shave Ice. These are like M2: Snack stop. M1: snack stop. They're like right next to each other. It's literally like a shack where you can get like popcorn shrimp type thing. And then of course the shape. M2: Wait, Mouse Liday is obsessed with popcorn shrimp. Okay. M1: Okay, I don't actually know that they have popcorn shirt, but it's like that vibe. I think they have something similar. And of course, the Mickey shaved ice, which is like the iconic thing to get. Obviously, Hawaii's known for shaved ice. This one has like the Mickey ears on top. You get multiple flavors. It's very fun. M2: It's actually called shave ice. Many people let me know that in my latest video in Hawaii Did you get it with condensed milk? M1: No, I don't like condensed smoke. M2: I don't know what it is, but it has lactose in it. So I'm like, people are I watched a video today. They're like, It's so good and I'm like, is it worth it for me? M1: It doesn't I don't think it looks good, personally. It doesn't speak to me. it doesn't speak to me. And then Alani has a luau. M2: I think it looks amazing. Okay. The last thing, a luau. So you did not do this, Luau. Why don't you explain why? M1: I didn't do this Luo because by the time I booked, this Luo was completely full. So I did a different Luo. M2: When did you book? 'Cause you were there in May. When did you book? M1: My I mean, I definitely it's what, sixty days out that you can book stuff, right? M2: It's it's yeah, yeah. M1: My guess is that I booked it in like early April. I probably booked it like 45 M2: That's crazy that you booked M1: to 50 days out. M2: Why? M1: Because I was booking my wedding. I just like wasn't folk I mean, like M2: Just it's s that's so M1: I think I booked Olani, but I just like wasn't in tune with being like, I should go book the Lu out. I'm also used to Disney World where I can unfortunately basically get any reservation that I want if I try hard enough. That was not the case here. M2: Well, we are doing the luau. It's an on site, outdoor luau based on the Halawa lawn, featuring traditional emu presentations, live music, fire knife dancing. It's a buffet. It looks really, really fun. I am very, very excited about trying this. We've never been to a luau. The Polynesian used to have a luau, but we did not, we did not ever do it. And now they don't have one. Actually, we did do M1: Which I'm very sad about. I'm sad that we didn't do that. M2: a luau at the memory care home that our grandma stayed at. And I do remember that. And that M1: You're right. You're right. M2: was fun. Honestly, that was fun. But I'm really excited about this. You get like a lay, but it's actually like a wooden bead necklace, which I guess is potentially a type of a lay. But I'm excited about wearing that. I have a dress that kind of matches that. I'm probably gonna wear ears. We'll talk about my outfits in a minute at the end. But I'm very excited and I wish that you got to do it. I'm sure you'll go back at some point and do it. M1: I definitely will. But yes, the the wooden lays I love to wearing the I think you might get a different one at the Lua, but you get them like while you're around, which is fine. M2: I'm gonna talk a little bit about the on site amenities and kind of like activities that are there. One of them is laymaking. You wanna kinda talk about those things? The daily programming. M1: Sure. Yes. So there's like so, so, so much going on daily. There are, yeah, things like laymaking or like, you know, ukulele lessons, stargazing navigation classes, like all these kind of random things. But there's also lots of things that you can watch. at night down by the beach, they had this big fire pit, and there would be like a storyteller there telling traditional Hawaiian folktales, and you're sitting in rocking chairs. Just kind of like listening, looking at the stars, listening. It's so peaceful and so fun. over on the lawn that they do the luo on on the nights that they're not doing the luo, they'll play movies out there or they'll have music out there that you can go listen to. Again, like I said, at the Olello room, they had the woman dancing the hula. They do like a hula show at night around the pool. There are so, so, so many things to see that you actually like can't really even see them all. But I loved That there were all these little like you know, authentic Hawaiian touches and things to do. It's very, very immersive. Yes. M2: I like the idea that I could just like wander up to something maybe and I just like in the like see a fireside storytelling, like if we're in the mood to do that. Like I think that's really fun and feels very like authentic. M1: Yes. M2: other things that they have, I'm very curious if you did this. The Menahune Adventure Trail. It is an interactive scavenger hunt where guests use interactive devices to trigger different effects in the rock work. D I've never even heard of that. M1: The many the I don't know exactly what the Menehuni adventure trail is, but there's a Menihoon like area, which is like a kid's what's that called? What's that water park thing called? Splash pad, like splash M2: Playscape? M1: pad type thing. So I wonder if this is a part of that. M2: I'm looking at a picture of it that I just like Googled to try to understand what this is. And I'm like, I'm intrigued by it. Definitely for children, but like interesting. So that's one thing. This resort has a lot of activities for kids. So just something to know. There's also Auntie's Beach House, speaking of kids' areas. This is like a kids' club area, kind of like what they have on Disney Cruise line. They have supervised programs, games, crafts, video rooms, like all that stuff. People will like drop their kids off a reservation at the kids' club and stuff. they have the Powhana Room, which is a community hall with board games. Yay. Movie rentals, cultural workshops. That's just like a where activities will take place. Some of the crafts. Do like Mickey ear making, stuff like that. they have the Lanay Lani Y spa. I can't that's the Lanaiwa spa. Whatever. It's the spa. It we have reservations for the spa. Again, the spa is another one of those things that's pretty like competitive to get massages. So I also want to mouse that see you got massages. Where four seasons? M1: No, we got massages on the other part of our honeymoon, like in Bora Bora. M2: we didn't get them on Hawaii at all. Okay. Well, this is it's a 2,000 square foot outdoor hydrotherapy garden with vitality pools, soaking tubs, six different outdoor rain showers. And then also there's like a whole inside area. There's like a sauna and a steam room, and we're gonna get massages. We're planning to spend like probably one to two hours kind of in the general area, and then an additional like 90-minute massage or eighty and eighty-minute massage. so I'm excited about that. I think that's gonna be really fun. When we take Disney cruise. Got cruise on the mind. There is something kind of like this called the rainforest room on Disney Cruise Line that we've done tours of before. They have like heated seats and they have an ice room and they have a heated room. Like it's not something we've ever on a cruise ship, it's not something we've done because we haven't taken a long enough cruise to really do it. But something like this has always interested me in doing this, using spa amenities more. So I'm excited about that. M1: I love two spa amenities. I visited the doors at the spa when I was there. Didn't get to go in, but close enough. talking about the characters. So, if a lot of people from the Asia visit Hawaii because it's like proximity-wise. And so in Tokyo, particularly, the Duffy and Friends characters are huge. And therefore, they also have a presence at Olani, which I absolutely love. M2: Me too. M1: Duffy the Bear meets. And then Olu Mel, who is a turtle in in the Duffy and Friends cast, is kind of like one of the mascots of Olani. I am obsessed with him. I love him. He's M2: Me too. I love him so much. M1: so cute. Meeting him was one of my like number one priorities. There's other characters there too. There's like Shelly May, who is another one from that group. And then there's like there's Stitch and there's Mickey and there's Goofy and Matt. Like there's a bunch of people. But you have to look up in the app when they're meeting. They don't meet every day. The lines can be kind of long. It's just like of all things at Olani, I found that the characters are not necessarily the easiest to just like sometimes you'll just stumble upon one and it's like fun. But if you really want to see one, like I really wanted to see Olumel, I kind of had to work for it. Like my pictures of Olumel, I'm in my cover up because the one time I was able to see him, I was like at the pool. M2: I was already thinking that. I'm like, who knows what I'm gonna be wearing? So yeah, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Daisy, Chippendale, Duffy, Shelly May, Moana and Stitch. I've also seen that Angel has been there. I would love I Angel is a big priority for me if I can meet her. M1: Luckily I didn't care about Angel. But yeah, like M2: I really want to meet Angel. And then also Max is at the breakfast you said. M1: Yes. Max is at the breakfast and Max like walk Max and I think Goofy, but I know Max because I have a video of it, like walk around the pool deck. And it's just kind of like sort of like not in the pool, but kind of around. But yeah, it's you have to really make an effort if you want to see someone print in particular. Like when I'm at Duffy, I was wearing no makeup in like a super casual outfit and then olumelum in my cover up because that's just when they happen to be out about. M2: I really wanna meet Olumel, but at the same time, I like it can't be like it's infrequent and like it might not line up with the day I'm there. And like if it doesn't, it doesn't and that's fine. I'm definitely gonna get some Olumel merch regardless. but like I don't think I Angel, I guess is my other one. So M1: Random merch tip, I just remembered. When I got to Ilani, they had these ears that I wanted. And I was like, it was literally when I like walked into Alani. And I said, these are really cute. I should come get these later. And then I never saw them again. Like, M2: They were sold out really? M1: yes. And I, they were literally, it was like all the Duffy characters, like little heads like this. They were so cute. M2: I've seen those, those are Q. M1: And it was really random. And I don't know if that was a thing with other things. That was just a piece of merch that I'd specifically been like, I'm gonna come back and buy this. But I would just keep that in mind. Like if there's something that you really like that you see, I would honestly just kind of buy it because it was I was like, I guess things stock and sell out here, which M2: Don't tell Melsa A that she's gonna become obsessive about buying stuff. M1: yeah. Okay. Do you want M2: Okay. M1: to move on to water activities? M2: I love activities. I love activities in general, everywhere. I love, love, love an activity. And they have a lot of different water activities you can do. These are specifically centered around Lagoon One. So I mentioned some of them. I'm also on the beach. There's like workout classes in the morning. There's a yoga class, which I'm interested in. I really, really want to take a paddleboard like kind of yoga class. Mousela A could not be less interested. And I think she would actually like genuinely have a bad time doing it. So I might skip it, but I want to rep to paddleboard. I love paddleboarding. Mama Mouse and Papa Mouse have paddleboards that we can take out in like the water by their house in Delaware. And it's so much fun. We did it once and it was so much fun. So paddle boarding, they've boogie boards that you can get. They might I think they have some tubes. I don't know if you can bring them in the ocean. But then there's other sort of like add-on excursions that you can do at Olani. And honestly, there's a million. So one that I think we might do that you did that we'll start with is the catamarans that you can go. It's a separate third party company that works with Olani. And you can get on, yeah, literally it looks like Moana's boat. They have like these like net areas that you sit in. You have to wear life jackets. And then they take you out into the ocean. I think it's like an hour total of time or something. M1: Yeah, they literally like come through the lagoon, pull up to the beach. And so you just walk up to the stand that day and you're like, hey, like what time is this available? And they'll tell you. and then you go out and you just, yeah, you go along Coalina. It's it's cool. Like you can look down in the water. We were able to see, you know, things swimming in the water below us, which was like really cool. You get to see along the coast, you get to be on a catamaran. Like it's very it feels very Hawaii. The people were super nice. That was very fun. I think they also do similar things with maybe. parasailing and stuff, we didn't do that. But there's like bigger activities like that that kind of third parties come in and assist with. M2: Other things that you can do, like you can take hikes, and they have these specific hikes that you can take. You can go do like yeah, like ride these like vehicles. I can't remember if it was like a horse like a zip. There was a zip lining thing. Like there's different, like it's it's really like excursion. It's kind of like what you do on a cruise. And they list them all on the Olani app. And like we weren't gonna do out, like we're doing a hike ourselves. We're doing a whole upfront piece in Waikiki. We're hiking Diamond Head, we're taking surfing lessons if the weather holds up, TBD, we're going to Pearl Harbor. Or we have the Leonard's Bakery. Like we have a list of a lot of those other stuff. So when we're at Olani, we want to like kind of focus on the Olani part. okay, do you wanna get it to the merch? M1: Yes. So the main store is the oof. Calais Paz, maybe. This is the store in the main lobby. And this is kind of like the main merch area. This store is also cool because again, it's in that main lobby area, big focus on authenticity. It has like a tin roof to it it represents a lot with like actual sort of stores in the area. But this is where they sell, yeah, the ears, the pins, all the Olumel merch, all that type of thing. M2: Sun Sun Drees. M1: And then there's a Yeah, mm-hmm various sundries, et cetera. It's like the typical resort store. I M2: What what is a sundry? M1: don't know, but they always say that at Disney. They love a sundry. I assume it's like I've always just kind of thought it was like like tchotkis that you need. M2: Various small miscellaneous items that are unimportant. M1: Okay, I kind of got right. and then there's another store in the main lobby called Hale Manu. And this is their kind of high-end one. You know, picture Grand Floridian where they have that like fancy store. Same vibes. They have the fancy sort of fancy clothes, fancy jewelry, that type thing. Then outside by the pool, there's the lava shack. This is like really a pool focused thing, you know, like if you forget sunscreen or you need water shoes or stuff like that. They have it out there. It's not so much like where you would go for merch and things. and then apparently there's a store in the spa. I wouldn't know. M2: Okay, kind of some final close out things. I guess I'll start with my outfits, my ears. I told Mouse today, I'm wearing ears. I have a couple of pairs of ears I wanna wear. M1: I wore ears. M2: And how many other people wore ears while you were there? M1: actually remember but I d I was like I'm wearing ears. Like I'm in Dis I'm at a Disney resort. M2: I have two pairs of ears that I'm planning on wearing. I have a a coralish orange pair that has like flowers on it that I got a long time ago and little hidden Mickeys. I've worn them maybe once. and then I have a pair of Olani ears. Did you get me those? I have no idea. M1: I was gonna say, how dare you not remember I brought you back those as a gift? M2: I was gonna say, I was like, where did I get these? But I'm planning on wearing those. And I feel like those are pretty versatile. I'm not planning on bringing black M1: Yeah. M2: leather ears, but I have a pair that has Star Wars stuff I'm bringing to Disneyland, so I might wear that. But I'm planning on wearing ears. I have a couple of different kind of outfits, but less like Disney and more of just like like for Ama Ama, I have a dress I want to wear. For the luau, I have a dress, but they're not like Disney. They're just kind of like fun, like Hawaiian vibes. I definitely want some lounging clothes. I have a stitch and an angel shirt that I've been very excited to wear for a long time. M1: my god, when I saw that shirt that you were packing, I was like, wow, stitch an angel. M2: Yep. And I also bought a stitched tote bag that just arrived to my house, actually. I'm very excited about it. Crickets, literal, absolute, absolute insane crickets. M1: Guys, Mouseletwood has hates Stitch so much that she now loves him. I still just hate Stitch. So I do not love him. No, Mama Mouse hates him. M2: Yeah. No, I love him. Mama Mouse also loves him now. And then the other thing I wanted to talk about is my room. So where we're staying. We are staying. So we're renting DVC points, as I mentioned from David's Vacation Club rentals. Olani has a lot of DVC villa rooms. So you can stay you stayed in a a regular room, right? Which M1: Yeah, yes. M2: was just like what was it with two beds, two queens? M1: no, it was a bed and a M2: And a pull-out couch. M1: and a couch, yeah. M2: Okay. So we're staying in a one bedroom, which has a a pull-out couch and it's like a literal pull-out couch. It's not like a Murphy. And then it has like a king bed in the other room and then the bathroom. It has a kitchen. That's the biggest selling point. Kitchen and laundry. Honestly, just having more space. Like, would we be fine in a regular hotel room? Yes. But to have more space, to have the couch, to be able to watch TV, have a separate bedroom, like the kitchen, it's just gonna be really nice to have all of that. I will say when I look at the rooms at Olani, they feel a tad bit dated to me. They feel like they need a little lift. I don't think they've had a huge overhaul. And M1: They are. Ever. M2: we this is a DVC fact. Every seven years ish, they do a soft refresh. And then every seven years after that, they do like a hard refresh, I guess. They might change theming around a lot, like the Grand Floridian, Mary Poppins' rooms. like that vibe, like or boardwalk where they did a huge kind of refresh. Olani opened in two thousand eleven. It's two thousand twenty six. So we're past fourteen years and I just don't think that's happened. M1: No, it definitely hasn't. I mean, 14 years would have been last year. And they definitely did not do that. So maybe they're working on it now. But the rooms, I think like It works at Olani. For example, Animal Kingdom Lodge really needed a refresh for a while and it was not working for me there. At Olani, M2: Yeah. M1: like it works. It's sort of like a it's a vibe. However, it would be nice if they got a refresh at some point. I'm sure that that will be huge when they do. It just is probably harder because at like Disney World, it's like, okay, part of this resort is closed. People can go stay at a different resort. But Olani, M2: Yeah. M1: it's like, well, what are they gonna do? Close the whole entire resort. M2: But I do think like when you see the Polynesian Island Tower rooms, M1: Yes. M2: like I want something a little fresher, a little more airy. But honestly, I think the room's gonna be amazing. I will be showing everything about this trip. It's a great time that you're listening because we're on our way. We have a couple of days again in Waikiki, then we're going to Olani and we'll be there for a while. And then we're going to Disneyland and doing Oogie Boogie Bash. As long as our flight doesn't have an issue. So stay tuned for all of that. Any closing thoughts on Olani? Would you recommend that people go? M1: A hundred percent. It's one of my favorite places that I've ever been. It is the coolest. M2: Crazy. M1: It is the coolest vibe. Like being at a place that was built by Disney, but again, it wasn't built by Disney mimicking somewhere else. It was built by Disney in that actual place. It's just like a different feeling. And it's amazing and gorgeous. And there's so much to do. It was like one of seriously, I love it, love it, love it there. And I think it might feel unapproachable to people. It's in Hawaii, that's kind of far. It feels expensive. However, actually someone literally just DMed us that they rented DVC points with David's Vacation Club Rentals at Olani for five nights. Five days or five nights, I don't remember exactly which. And it was like $2,500, which for a stay at a place like Olani in Hawaii is so such a good deal. So, anyways. M2: Like we're paying, we're staying at like the Sheraton and we're paying like a literal an arm and a leg to stay in the Sheraton. Like it is expensive to stay in there. We have a waterfront view, but like I don't remember how much it is, but it's like probably like $700 a night or something. It's it's really, really expensive. So yeah, definitely something that I think that people should look into. I'm checking like the rates of a standard, yeah, a deluxe studio with a standard view on the days that we're going if you rent DVC points is $400, $408. M1: Like that's M2: Which is M1: so doable. Of course, it's a it's a gonna be a more expensive trip. You're going to Hawaii, but like for staying at an oceanfront, super deluxe property like that, $400 a night, M2: Crazy. M1: it's really good. So, anyways, highly recommend. I am very excited to see what you guys get up to and what you guys think compared to what we thought. But now, speaking of beaches, let's get into our special segment. Today we are going to do a special segment that's a little bit of a tip for Walt Disney World, bringing it back to Walt Disney World. Because Walt Disney World has a lot of beaches, but if you don't know the lore, back in the day, as Malsa 2 has talked about many times. M2: I was about to say, this is sort of like I kind of own this fact. Back in the day, the Walt Disney World was a vacation kingdom and it was centered around activities on the lake. They had all these beaches and people would literally swim in the lakes. And that was like the thing that you did. And yeah, there are pools, but people would take all these boats out and do like all of these water activities. And honestly, up until not that long ago, you could still like parasail and do certain things. But there used to be water skiing and sailboats and all of this stuff. The beaches have since been like literally closed off. Like there is like net fences, like you can't get into the water. But something that no one, like very, very, very few people I feel like ever kind of consider anymore is the fact that there is a lot to do in the sort of beach area. The pools are nice, but the beaches have values. We want to kind talk about just like some of the beaches and some of the things that you can do on the beaches. And we'll start with the contemporary. M1: So the contemporary has a massive beach, actually, one of the largest, I would say, like depth wise. and they have a beach volleyball court, which we played with Mouselit C and Mouse Lit A when we stayed there. It was empty. I think like two kids came like running around at one point, but literally it was just us. It wasn't that hot out. And we had just come from the pool and we just went and played beach volleyball. It was like, it was cool. It was something different and something fun. And then also at contemporary, this was so random. I don't even remember exactly where this was, but somewhere like I think over by Baylake Tower, there was this random like beach area that was almost like slightly like in the woods. I don't know. But they had like chairs and places to relax. And it actually it was like shadier over there. And it was actually such a nice place to just like chill. For some reason, we were just down there, just like relaxing. Yeah. M2: We were like taking pictures or something. Yeah, it was like behind the Bay Lake Tower pool. It was like M1: Yes. M2: a little like alcove, I guess. Yeah, it was just like a vibe. It was a vibe. M1: It was like yeah, it was just like off the beaten path. It wasn't super hot again, so it's not like we like needed to be in the pool swimming. And we were like hanging out there, relaxing, chatting. It was just like our own little private area. And it was really nice. That's so rare at Disney. M2: Quickly run through the other resorts that even have beaches. So the other resorts have beaches. Obviously, the contemporary Bay Lake Tower have beaches. The Grand Floridian has a beach, which I'll talk about in a minute. The Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Campground have little beach areas, and then beach and yacht club and Caribbean Beach. So, like there's a variety of resorts that have beaches sort of a varying kind of size. The Grand Floridian Beach is one that I'll kind of talk about quickly, because there used to be a huge beach and then they built like they expanded the resort in that area. So now there's like a tiny little speck of a beach right by the pool. We cut through that beach a lot. They have like the fire pit there. That beach to me I'm like not quite my fave. M1: Yeah. M2: It's pretty tiny. Kids like to play with the sand stuff there, but that one doesn't have as much value. The Polynesian M1: Yeah. No. M2: beach is really fun. It's honestly the Polynesian beach, like here's my recommendation go inside the Kona Cafe, get bread pudding or get a coffee or get a Dole Whip at the what's that place called? M1: Lanai, pineapple Lanai. M2: Yeah, pineapple and I get a dole and go sit on the beach. They have hammocks, they have swings. The island tower has its own kind of beachy area too. It's just like it's honestly a vibe. M1: It's a vibe. M2: You don't even feel like you want the pool. Like you're just like genuinely just chilling. That beach is maybe my favorite, I think. M1: Yeah, I love that beach. Speaking of hammocks, at actually Coronado has beaches M2: Yeah. M1: because of their lake at both Coronado and at Caribbean Beach. I have, for whatever reason, been like out and about on my own. And I just went and laid in a hammock on the beach. And it's so nice, like along the water, relaxing. I remember when I was at Coronado, I was on the phone with my friend. And I was just like swinging on the hammock. M2: Who? M1: It was my friend. my friend who also goes to Disney. M2: ween. M1: Yeah. Anyways, I was just like hanging out on the hammock. Again, not that many people use the beach. So it's very peaceful. Kind of good people watching, good place to read a book. M2: It's like carve out the time to do it. Yeah, like get a coffee and like carve out the time. At Caribbean Beach, we rehearsed our sister sisters dance. If you know, you know. That was some outslit's lore. other things that you can kind of do on the lakes, but like adjacent boat rentals. Again, you want to kind of feel like you're like out and about. You can rent boats. We've told the story. Maybe we'll do a recap of it. I couldn't get the boat out. The guy basically said it was, I mean, he was not helping at all, to be honest. But he said it was the worst he's ever seen. I like could not get the boat. You're driving it yourself. But that's like another fun thing that just gets you sort of like adjacent to the water when you're like typically you're not really near the water and people forget what like a selling point it used to be. M1: I would check like Wilderness Lodge has a whole area down by the beach with like games. One of our peaches one trip was literally playing cornhole down there and just talking. It was so M2: It was so fun. M1: fun. Yeah, they just have like random games down there. And then don't sleep on the beaches at night because it's not that hot. A lot of the beaches, especially obviously on Seven Seas Lagoon, you can watch fireworks from electrical water pageant from lots of beaches. That's where their fire pit is for like. M2: They do the movies at Beach and Yacht Club. They have the movie area. They also have yeah, on the beach. M1: On the beach, mm-hmm. M2: Riviera also has a beach 'cause it used to be Caribbean Beach. It's like kinda tucked to the side. Not my fave beach. I don't know how much time I spent at the Riviera beach, to be honest, but M1: No, but there's a lot to be done at the beaches. And I think of all places at Disney, it is a place that you can kind of have more space and be a little bit more of of your own like private area because not that many people use them. So you should use them. M2: Here's a tip. If you want to propose to someone, you should do it on some of those beaches. No, really, if you want to do a Disney proposal and you don't want M1: I mean it's very private. M2: a ton yeah, you don't want a ton of people there. Disney beaches, just the thought. Okay. Pitt and Beach. Yeah. M1: Peaches. Mm-hmm. That's true. Should we move on to our pit and peach? Yes. Pit first. M2: okay, what's my pit? My pit is that yesterday I was in a meeting. This was end of four. It was running very late. And I was like, I'm gonna take a much later train. Like there's a huge gap in the trains. And I said, No, I can make it. I had six minutes to sprint, sprint from my office to the train station. I like ran with my bag in my work clothes the entire way. I got on the train. I'm like I have not been running. I had like an injury and I'm still kind of coming back. So, like while I do some cardio, like I'm not like I'm clearly not in cardiovascular shape. I was like sprinting. Okay, sprinting as fast as I possibly could. I got on the train and my God, I felt like so sick, like the worst stomach ache ever. I thought I was about to throw up. I was sitting next to this woman, doubled over in pain. She was like looking at me like, what on earth? I'm like. Sitting there, we're so many stops away from where I need to go. I'm like, if I get off at one of these next stops, I'm gonna be have to wait like an hour for the next train. I'm trying to think like if I have to throw up, where would I go? I had to like hunt over and find a conductor and I said, Is there a is there a bathroom? And he's like looking at me like, Holy crap. It was literally like, my God. And I was sitting there writhing and I was like, This is this is horrible. I literally was like, please, God, let me never be in this much pain again. It was horrible. M1: I guess I guess you shouldn't be sprinting. I guess you're not really built to sprint. M2: But I think it was like literally I was like I could not have been running faster. It's like probably like three quarters of a mile and I ran it in like six minutes in my work clothes. Yeah, that was my pit. M1: Okay, I mean, let this let that be a lesson to you. My pit is that sort of for a variety of reasons, I've just been feeling gross. I we are trying to get the Miklet to sleep through the night by himself rather than like waking up at three in the morning. But that requires sort of a lot of work on our end to put him back to sleep over and over and over again. So I'm not getting that much sleep. I'm on a medicine, Accutane. That makes me extremely dehydrated and so I'm dehydrated all the time. And I really need to get my hair colored and I can't get an appointment and so I do not like my hair color right now. And therefore I literally just like feel gross. I'm sure everyone will be like, You look fine. I think I look okay, but I feel M2: I thought you were you're not gonna keep your hair brown anymore, you're gonna dye it back? M1: No, but I just get it like it's too it's too blonde right now. Like it's this I like this color M2: It's very hombre. Yeah, it's very hombre. Used to have M1: I don't like this color that's happening like at all. M2: I was gonna say well, your natural hair color. What's crazy is that in your Olani videos, your hair 'cause M1: My hair's so blonde. M2: you said yeah, you used to dye your hair so like like M1: I used to highlight my hair to be clear. I wasn't dyeing my hair. I highlighted my hair. No, it's not. M2: my God. It's the same thing. You've this is like a hill that you die on. Okay. You highlighted your enti you highlighted your entire head. It's not an insult. It's not an insult. Okay. You dyed your hair, whatever the terminology is. But I'm saying it was like platinum blonde. And I looked and I was like, that's crazy. You look so M1: And M2: different just because your hair color. M1: and I look at those and I say, should I do that again? Should I go back to blonde? But my hair is so much longer now. But yeah, this hair color that I'm having happening, I do not like. But here's the issue. Every time I check for an appointment, it's like two weeks out. And I say, That's way too long. I can't possibly wait two weeks. I'll just keep checking and I'll get a sooner appointment. And then I never do. And then the two weeks come and I say, I wish I just made that appointment. And I check, and the next appointment is two weeks out. M2: I was gonna get my hair colored before my honeymoon. Basically, like I get my hair colored specifically to cover up my grays. That's it. I have gray hair some and like they look like the color of my hair, they don't really blend in. My hair has kind of shifted into like a more like brownish reddish tone as I've gotten older. Whatever. Okay. She was sick, but I didn't want my hair cut because I wanted my hair long. Every time I get my hair cut, I feel heinous. I like long hair. so I feel good for like a day. And so I was like, M1: I was gonna say I feel like whenever you get your haircut, you're kind of like, Okay, okay M2: Yeah, I feel good for a day, but then like I shower and then I'm like, I'm miserable. So I didn't I was gonna already have to deal with being like, I don't want my hair cup, I don't want to color, and I was nervous about telling her. Then she canceled because she was sick and they Do you want to re-book with someone else? And I said, No. So I'm just not. I was just like, Whatever. Okay. My peach is that I'm going to Wolani and Hawaii. My peach is I'm about to go on my honeymoon. M1: Only this time will I let you use that cop out peach as your peach. M2: Another pit is that I'm very stressed with work as I prepare for this trip. As I'm it's M1: Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. M2: just yes, I can acknowledge that. It's not my true pit, but it's an acknowledgement. M1: My peach is probably that I decorated my house for fall this week and it's so cozy and I'm just like really feeling the cozy fall vibes and it's making me feel cozy in addition to feeling gross, which is at least better than just feeling gross. okay, fact of the day, you like had one. M2: Okay, my fact of the day, Everest. Yes, I just have to scroll up in the spreadsheet to look for it. So every single rider, they're taking it away because for many years, the way they've loaded Everest, yes, they have a fast pass lane and a regular lane, but they'll find out how many people you have. And if you're two or four or six, whatever, even, you'll fill in the rows. If you're odd, they'll fill you in, they'll grab a single rider. Now they're splitting separately. So now there's gonna be an odd lane and an even lane, which is what they do Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind. Make sure I said the full name there. And so M1: Why? M2: Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at the Walt Disney World Epcot. Anyway, M1: Like M2: and so now they'll fill like an even train and then they'll fill an odd train. So one party's three, the next party's five. They don't need a single rider. And so basically they weren't needing single riders over and over, that it was just like wasn't really being valuable anymore. Yes, there's a time that they might end up needing some, but basically the way it worked out is that it was very infrequently. So What it should help is it should make it more efficient. You should get boarded more quickly. But I'm very sad about the loss of that. So that's the that's my fact related to that. M1: It absolutely makes sense for Disney to do. 100% it was the right choice. However, personally, am I extremely sad? yes, I am. okay, I was going to give an Olani fact, which was basically that the entire resort was designed around this concept of an Ahapua. That's a Hawaiian word for this like particular sort of type of land division, I guess. That It would run from the mountains down to the ocean. And they wanted Olani to look the same. So the Olani buildings represent the mountains. And then you have the valley in the middle, which is where all the pool and the rock work is. And then it flows down into the ocean. And it just shows like literally everything at Olani, like all of the way it was built and the architecture and the art and like even like outside, there's these big like murals and stuff. Not murals even like sculpture kind of all of it was made to be like based on Hawaii and to pay homage to Hawaii. And I just think It's so cool. M2: That's very cool. All right, guys. That was our episode. Did I M1: Should I do the should I do the spiel as I did last week? No, no, no, no, no. M2: No, we got very poor feedback about it. that that is our episode. No, we did.
