- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Welcome in, everybody, to the Telican Tech Podcast, Powered by the Nation, part of the Nation Podcast Network.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: I'm your host, Steven Rodriguez, my co-host Tristan McGonagall.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: Tristan, Texas Tech, two and one.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: Big time win over the mean green, man.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: What's going on?
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Huge win over that Denton rival over there.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: All the trash talk that was spoken between these two storied fan bases, just throwing punches.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: I know we were both chopping at the pit to win the trophy of um what highway would cross between both didn't.
- 1:13SPEAKER_05: What highway?
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: What highway would that be?
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: But dude, I don't think that was like a cremation.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, so what I think you gotta do, you know what you have to do?
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: You gotta play the song.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, that's a good move.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: We gotta play the song.
- 1:31unknown: Red Raider coming at you.
- 1:35SPEAKER_04: With a few wins.
- 1:39SPEAKER_04: Red Raider coming at you on a beautiful time.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: A cremation.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: That is quite a way to put it.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: We yeah, I mean, we just yeah, that second quarter, we absolutely just put them in the furnace.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, dude.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Uh it was over by then.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Like whatever the defense just said, nuh-uh.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: And uh after kind of blowing it up on one tutty, but dude, this was the get right game.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Um, it they looks like we kind of flushed down those bad feelings uh down the drain uh from the first two weeks where Tech's Tech fans were very much in our field.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: A lot of us were really on the ledge with this program.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Like you could really tell.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: I think maybe it being really late at night did not help due to the uh amount of perhaps consumption that would be occurring at that point in time.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: So uh thank goodness that we added onto the faith here by just utterly smashing the meet those jazz kids from North Texas, my man.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was um is everybody ready to you know stop calling for people's jobs?
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Because no, okay, yeah, because clearly if we have one more bad game or we throw an interception or something, it's right back to fire Zach Kitley.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Um I was never on that train.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: Now we didn't get to record a podcast last week, but you would have heard my thoughts on everything.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Listen, I don't care that Micah Hudson's not playing, and I don't care to fire anybody on this staff yet.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Okay, so everybody needs to kind of cool it right now.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: We're too and easy for you to say after that performance.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: It was bad.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: The Washington State game was bad, it was really, really bad.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: I went back and forth with it.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: I was like, listen, I put that loss pretty much on the player's performance.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: I thought we had a fine game plan.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: I thought we went in and we had we were missing our best offensive player in Taj Brooks, and we didn't play well.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: We played just about as bad as you could have, and they switched it up, they started to play better.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: Now, do I think a dominant performance over a mean green team completely changes out of the outlook of this team?
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: No, I think we had a really good game, both sides actually played complimentary football, and you know, Texas Tech can learn something from this, but overall, I think we're in a fine spot.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: Now, I want to I I brought this up after the first week.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: What is your Kool-Aid meter on this Texas Tech team right now?
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: Scale of one to ten.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: The powder has gotten deeper red.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: I will say that.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Like, I am adding a little more, I'm making it a little sugarier.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, mom would be upset with the amount I'm using right now.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Um, but I'm not getting stupid with it.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm I'm not making myself sick with the Kool-Aid, okay?
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Uh it was definitely be beyond the North Texas game, it was beyond what I expected.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: Um, but I really did think, like something in my gut said, we're gonna put this away, and I don't think I'm gonna be nervous during it.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: And that's that was what I came away with, obviously, and then some.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: So it gives me a lot of hope going into, especially this.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Let's start small, going into this next Arizona State game at home, where Joey Maguire seems to really cook.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: Like he he and when he's in the Jones, even though it was looking ugly, uh, we've we've been in a lot of rock fights at home that we have pulled out under the Joey Maguire era.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: And it's just kind of reiterating that we have some serious, serious troubles on the road that uh just we can't seem to get over right now.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: What does that make Maguire like two and nine on the road after uh Wazoo?
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: So that is not a great stat.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: So uh, but at home, we seem to really be moving.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: So I'm taking this one week at a time right now.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: That's what this this program has shown us is they're a one week at a time kind of deal.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: We know who you're gonna get right now.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: So that's the way I'm looking at it, dude.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, I would say that my Kool-Aid has returned to probably slightly below Kool-Aid levels prior to week one.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: Give me a number.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: So I was at six.
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're at six before the season.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: So now we're at five.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: I think that's solid.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: If we if we followed up after the wazoo game, we were just it were, you know, we'll explain work.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: Um we're at 0.5 after the wazoo game.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: We're like at a two, right?
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: So it's now thank thankfully they've given us some hope.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: What about you, man?
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: Uh, I started preseason at an eight.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: I did drink the Kool-Aid as uh the last couple weeks leading up to the season.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: After your non-conference and how it played out, I would put uh I would put my Kool-Aid meter at a six for this team right now.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: Um you had a really horrible game against Washington State.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: You had a pretty darn horrible game on the defensive side of the ball against Abilene Christian, and then you responded and played an absolutely terrific game against North Texas, who is not a slouch.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: They are they were 2-0 coming into this year, high-powered offense, and you held them to 14 points until you know the end of the ballgame when they got another touchdown.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: So you're starting to figure some things out, I think.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: And if this game taught us anything, it is that Taj Brooks is so important to the success of this football team.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: You didn't have him for Washington State.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: He, if you get him going, which is not a difficult thing to do, he completely changes the flow of your offense and makes this team so incredibly tough to beat because we can attack you on so many different levels.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: And it takes some pressure off of Barron because Barron clearly um really took it upon himself in that wazoo game to try and win it himself, and it just was not happening for him.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: So to have a guy like Taj Brooks and even some of the backup running backs, we've seen Cam Dickey and Jacoby Williams uh really play well in this North Texas game, you just have a two-headed dragon of an offense that can scare a lot of teams.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I that I think we saw clearly in these past three games that the offense runs through uh Tosh Brooks.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: Like it's built around him.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: And that makes sense.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, we were talking about the best player on the team.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: He he which he is.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: So um, I I I think without him, I think we should get really nervous.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: And I think Wazoo really proved that.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Um, granted, it was on the road and Wazoo is looking to be a pretty solid team, man.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: They're they are three and oh, they just upset their biggest rival in Washington, um, in Seattle.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: So it's it looks like some things can maybe be excused now that we're looking back, you know.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: When you're without your best player, it's always gonna be tough, even if you're Alabama or Texas Tech.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: So it's that's just the way of the game.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm always really happy to see him back.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: The guy's electric and dude, and I you brought him up already, but uh Cameron Dickey, yeah, that guy is gonna have no problems filling Taj's shoes.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: I really he is like I feel like you absolutely have a high potential uh uh RB1 coming in right after Taj goes goes drafting here in a few months.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean he was he he's the same type of runner, it looks like it looks like at least against North in the North Texas game, you know, it it really didn't seem like you changed much whether Todd was Taj was running the ball or uh Kim Dickey was running the ball.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: He's a patient runner, he's a pretty big back for being a freshman already.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: Um, and I I'm just excited for the future.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: A lot of guys, you got real excited for the future in this game, including Will Hammond, Micah Hudson, you saw a good amount of.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: So um let's uh let's kind of get into a little bit of the of the youth here and the excitement for the future.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: Who was your favorite young player to watch in the second half of this ballgame?
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Um, it's it's impossible not to say Hammond.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: And I kind of want to be a little cheeky and say it's our quarterback controversy and love it.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: In the sense that yeah, for the backup okay for QB2.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: No, that's that's why I was being cheeky.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: Um so but for the backup, and my question here is dude, is a Will Hammond is obviously a better quarterback than Cameron Brown.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: And granted, we haven't been able to see much of Cameron Brown, but it doesn't seem like Cameron Brown really has the arm or decision-making ability that you would hope you'd have in a backup quarterback.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, he looks like he's just kind of there just to shake things up on the ground, which is all fine and good, but you obviously do not want that to be the situation in a backup quarterback.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: You want to you want to seem to at least facilitate a a an at least average passing offense.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: So um, do you think that this maybe shakes up the uh trajectory of a Will Hammond?
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: Do you think, or do you think they should still lean in and hopefully get him redshirted?
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, they still want to redshirt Will Hammond.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: No, I was about to say, I really hope so.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't see a situation where, and hopefully, you know, we're dealing, and we've made it three games so far, knock on wood, without a quarterback injury to Barron Morton.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: But um, I think if you know he somehow suffers, you know, a bad injury or something like that.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: I think Will Hammond is the guy that he throws in to start the next ballgame.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: I mean, he looked polished already, he's already making plays that guys juniors aren't making, seniors aren't making.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: I mean, he's and now we've only seen a real quarter and a half from him, so let's not freak out too much.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: But against the defeated UNC.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and yeah, and against the defeated UNT.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: So, but I mean, he was pristine, man.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: He he made some of those passes.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: One of them hit Tharp.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: He just wasn't ready for it.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: Uh Micah Hudson almost scored a touchdown uh from one of those Will Hammond throws, and he he surprised me, man.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: I did not expect him to go out there and and make some of those throws that he did.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, dude, like he was way ahead of his time.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Uh the I think you put it perfectly.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: He'll he was not acting like an 18-year-old kid that just graduated from high school.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: He was acting like a guy that's that's been in the college game for quite a while now.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: Um, this guy really seems as good as advertised.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: He's you know the first quarterback of the of the Maguire era, like truly, like he's the first, at least first QB1 of the Maguire era.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: Um, so he just insanely impressive.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: That guy was whipping it around, just throwing darts like it was it was no big deal.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: So uh I'm very impressed with his decision making and that connection with uh Will uh with um uh my bad Micah Hudson, that's gonna be something you hear a ton every Saturday is Hammond to Hudson, and that's gonna be something we hopefully never get old uh tired of hearing.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: Hit him twice.
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: The most impressive one was on that third and long.
- 12:49SPEAKER_02: I think it was like third and 12 or third and 13, and he found him, and it's just like, okay, all right, let's let's go now with that.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: It was uh it was definitely a glimpse into the future of Texas Tech football with all these guys, and we didn't even mention Jacoby Williams had a touchdown as well at running back.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I thought he he played well, and then some of those offensive linemen there at the at the back end of the game were were impressive.
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: So just an overall really, really solid game from Texas Tech on both sides of the ball.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: Uh, a position group that I thought I should mention that uh really stood out to me was the tight ends.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: So everybody did something.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: I mean, Mason Tharp was blocking his ass off this game.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: I noticed on the Taj run uh for the touchdown on the fourth and one uh early on in the game.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Jalen Conyers caught a touchdown.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: He's pretty terrific on both aspects of being a tight end.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: John Carlos Miller's kind of electric out there, and he's a really big target.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: So I I think we'll see a lot more of those three guys moving forward.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, dude, it's it's kind of our our dream here.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: We're really utilizing every weapon that we have.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Anything that you can get, just a mismatch of uh of matchups.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: You know, that's that's what you're always looking for.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: And using these giants that you have that are able to be dual threats and blocking and catching, it's just so fun to watch.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: And it just opens up a playbook so widely that you get to see all sorts of stuff that you normally wouldn't be able to in a more traditional mainline offense that just dedicates itself to one style of play.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: So it's really good to see us really mix it up.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: Zach Gitley was 100% in his bag, as the kids would say.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Uh he all the play calling was was fresh, crisp, and it was just a lot of fun to watch, man.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: Fireworks everywhere.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, really good showing from the defense all around.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: I didn't find anything really to gripe about except for that one big play we gave up early on.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: But um, Chapman Lewis had himself probably his best game as a red raider.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: Um, really played super well, got that interception.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: Bryce Ramirez got an interception.
- 14:44SPEAKER_02: Uh, I think the third interception was oh who oh, it was uh Braylon Lux on the pick six.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: So you saw guys like AJ McCarty play well, you saw uh Duda Banks pass rush really well.
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: Uh Isaac Smith got in there, John Curry.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: So I I think everybody on the defense had a uh good to really good game, which was nice to see.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, dude.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: It's I kind of it's kind of sad that you know we're not spending a whole lot of time on the defense, but it's just they went in there and got it done, dude.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: And they they locked they locked UNT down.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: And as you said, dude, um, I think we might be underplaying uh you you're not, but I'm saying like just generally as a fan base, we might be underplaying UNT's ability or at least their potential under this coaching staff.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, we're talking about a Kingsbury disciple, a leech disciple, um, that uh knows how to score points.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: And I bet they're gonna do quite well up there in Denton.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: It seems like the perfect marriage for them uh to get weird up there.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: And we they couldn't pull anything over us.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: They just got lucky a few times, in my opinion.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: And of course, you know, in that second half when you're playing a lot of backups, I mean, not a whole lot to uh to complain about.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: And it's like it de Ruder knew what he was doing this game.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: Um, and it's really, really starting to seem like um that ACU game was DeRooter's goose egg.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: You know, like it's it's hard to complain about his tenure as our defensive coordinator at all.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, I've said it repeatedly that he's the greatest defensive coordinator I've seen as a tech fan, um, in this in this 10 plus years of fandom.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: And I it's it this is just reflection that this guy he's very seasoned and knows what he's doing, what he's doing.
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: Uh Josh Kelly, also top 20 in all of college football in receiving yards through three games.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: So um another guy who really stood out, just uh he's electric, dude.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: He's really good.
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: Uh he's returning punts for us.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: He did fumble one of them, but um got it back on that play.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: But he's just such a weapon for you.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: Koy Akin caught that long touchdown.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: Like you have a lot of pieces here, man.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: And uh now that we get into Big 12 play, they're getting some confidence rolling after just absolutely destroying a North Texas team.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: And um, and we ride, man.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: We'll see what happens.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: But uh this is a big statement game for Texas Tech, hopefully moving on to three and one as we go on into next week.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Heck yeah, man.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: And that's the uh talking tech return to the LBK, man.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: I cannot wait for uh for you to arrive here in Kerrville, packed up, ready to hop in the old cross, and get freaking going down the road, man, and show up in beautiful Lubbock Thursday night, dude.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: Uh a homecoming for us, even though this is not homecoming.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you've been plenty of times every year, baby.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: You've been plenty of times since we graduated.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: I have not been back to Lubbock since 2020.
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: A COVID uh limited capacity.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: They were booming in sound from speakers trying to bump up the crowd noise.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: Colin Schooler was kicking uh well, what was his name?
- 17:50SPEAKER_02: I can't remember the Baylor quarterback at the time.
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: But that was the last time I was in Lubbock.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: And for me, I am so excited to get back, not just to watch some Red Raider football, but to experience Lubbock again, see our old stomping grounds, eat some good food, you know, hit up the bars that we hit up many a time in our time in Lubbock.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: And uh I'm uh I'm so ready.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: I'm so ready to be back.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: I'm glad we're going up on a Thursday just to get an extra day to to to bool around.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're gonna get yourself some Eevee Maze for the first time, dude.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah, I'm down.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: Friday morning.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Friday morning.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: Friday morning.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Thatinerary set, dude.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: Okay, all right.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: We also gotta stop at Red Raider Outfitter.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: I gotta give me some Adidas cue.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: That's that's as well as the Friday, the Friday movies as well.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: But the listeners don't need to need to hear about our uh our day-to-day, our our our our hour by hour play by play here.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: Um, but man, a really interesting matchup that we're coming into.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Uh seriously, a much more intriguing matchup than we ever could have expected coming into the season.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Everyone left Arizona State for dead.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Some people were picking them dead last, number 16 in the 12 in the Big 12 conference, you know, 16 teams in the Big 12.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: So um that makes sense.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: And uh it's they've they've really shown to be uh a doubter, hater, shutter-upper team.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: And I've really applauded that.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: Like they've been electric all season long, and they've had quite the out-of-conference schedule uh going on the road twice to teams that uh well, at least one of them's no joke.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: And the it's funny enough that the one I'm talking about is Texas State.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: Like Texas State is no joke anymore, man.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: I would not want tech to have gone to San Marcus, especially in the state that we seem to be, uh go before UNT.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: And they got it done.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Like, obviously, the score does not say dominance, it was just a three-point, uh three-point win.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: But moving in there and doing and getting it done like they did, especially with the uh the preseason expectations they have, makes ASU a formal team.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: And obviously went down into SEC country and beat up on uh Mississippi State, no problem.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: And uh, but that Mississippi State looks horrendously awful.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: So I don't know how much that says, but man, this this Sun Devil team, an inaugural game, which is kind of cool, uh, inaugural uh conference game is looking to be quite interesting.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, I think their schedule just looking at it is a little um it's it's not showing you quite exactly who Arizona State is because Wyoming's 0-3, they killed them to start the year, which I know.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Hand up, we lost to Wyoming last year.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: I get it.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: They're much worse this year.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: I'll stand on that.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: Mississippi State, not very good.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Okay, that uh not very good at all.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Did you see them get just pooped on by Toledo?
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: They're bad.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: Mississippi State is Mississippi State is really bad.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: They deserve it.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: This Arizona State team beat them by a touchdown.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: Then you go next week into Texas State, which a team like Arizona State should be killing Texas State.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Granted, GJ Kenney's doing a great job over there.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: Texas State is in is in a much better spot than they've ever been, probably before.
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, to barely squeeze out a win there is not the best look.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: So you it's a three and oh team, but you know Wow.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: That was a that was a completely different preview from you.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: Like I was gassed them up, and you're saying they're not they're not a hot step at all.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: I just they have they have some dudes, like don't get me wrong.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: Like uh their quarterback's been really solid this year.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: He's only thrown one interception, uh, he can do it with his legs.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: They have one of the better running backs in the Big 12 right now, which is saying something.
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: Scataboo, which is a great name.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Phenomenal name.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Phenomenal name, top name.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: Their leading receiver is a familiar name.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: If you know the name Jalen Tyson at Texas Tech, his brother Jordan Tyson is their leading receiver right now.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: He originally went to Colorado, and then when Dion took over, he was one of the many that transferred out, went to Arizona State.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: So he's actually shown to be a really good receiver for them this year.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: But I they got some players.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: I'm not trying to say that Arizona State is a team to just overlook or do.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: anything like that, but getting them at home, you should absolutely win this game.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I agree.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: I think I think this is absolutely absolutely should be a win.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: Um but you kind of touched on it, dude, that uh what scares me the most, I don't know what it is about TechStech.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: I don't know it does not matter apparently who the coach is and hopefully uh Maguire and DeRouder can really start putting an end to this uh weakness that we have but if a quarterback has legs yeah I'm a little nervous like we don't it it seems like we never account for it ever.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: And I this this Sam Levitt guy where I was watching the the the the Texas State game in San Marcus the dude kept uh ASU moving on his legs not necessarily with his arm.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Anytime it was a big play he ran down the field with his own uh two uh legs down there so it's uh it that's what makes me the most nervous probably more than anything obviously a good running back is never something you want to run up against too much but uh honestly out of all the things on this this team that can kind of uh make me worry a little bit it's it's seriously left to wet legs.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah absolutely and I think this is where playing a guy like John Matteir in Washington State is going to benefit you going into this game because you've already had that experience with a guy who can just take off.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: Now he took us by surprise.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: We were not prepared to play against that style of ball at Washington State and he killed us.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: So it's easy and and it absolutely makes sense to think that Texas Tech is going to not be a good defensive fit for this ball club but now that you have that experience and you've kind of gained knowledge with the youth that we have on this defense, you know hopefully you find a way to combat that um but yeah you're right I mean he's the second leading rusher on this team as a whole he's got 155 yards on the year 30 carries three touchdowns.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: I mean he he absolutely can do it with his legs.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: Yep no that's that's absolutely the the biggest worry there uh Joe McGuire seems to say a lot about their uh their head coach Dellinger uh no not that not Dellinger uh Dillingham um I'm thinking of the uh uh reporter uh college football reporter um but he seems like he's he seems like he's got this program going the right direction and I'm glad that we are catching the Sun Devils prior to his uh summit climb so uh I'm with you dude I really believe that we are going to win this game especially if we come out uh hot like we did against UNT obviously it will not go as perfectly uh against the Devils as it did against the mean green you're regardless of the the coaching change and the state of the program that the Devils are in it's still gonna be a larger talent gap uh against a Sun Devil team than it is a mean green team uh so that's that's obviously something to keep an eye on but dude if we're if we're uh if this injury report kind of holds true obviously we're not in the most the best shape but our weapons are ready to go I feel pretty dang good about uh taking it to the Devils.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah I do too and I will say Dillingham impressed me I've never heard the guy talk I didn't know what the guy looked like but I watched his presser this year uh or this week talking about Texas Tech and uh he seems cool man he seems like a really good head coach a really passionate guy a guy who knows what he's talking about and if he's already turning this Arizona state team around I mean I think they won three total games last year and they're already three and oh they've already met that win total this year so that's a huge accomplishment especially for the uh platter of crap that was left yes for him to clean up they got hermed they got hermed they got hermed real bad but dude so I I just I this is just kind of like an on-tangible I didn't I'm sorry I thought I thought you're kind of uh concluding your sentence do you want to finish your thought you're good all right sweet uh I was just gonna say uh just what a a fun game uh for tech fans in Lubbock and uh at home to watch uh just kind of it's it's truly a dawn of a new era game you know this is the new look Big 12 and I think it's a lot of fun that we have a school like Arizona State in the conference it feels like a marriage that makes a lot of sense it doesn't feel forced um and it's gonna just be a ton of fun man it's gonna be fun uh we're already you're already having some fun interacting with their fans you know uh pooping on one of their profits so I know a lot of uh people here in the Lone Star State are really enjoying that commentary.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: I was waiting for this moment to talk shit about James Harden.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: I was waiting for this move happened for you I would this move happened exactly for me as a lifelong hater of James Harden and now a lifelong hater of Arizona State I have I've been playing it up and I like to see it man I gotta say you know we added the four schools from last year BYU Houston UCF and uh in Cincinnati and the Twitter presence for those schools not the best you know by you fans are nice they're nice hey UCF UCF seems to have some game UCF has some game they have a pretty diehard passionate fan base Houston fans don't exist i have still have yet to interact with the Cincinnati fan um so getting a just a large school a large alumni base large fan base like Arizona State involved and they found the tweet where I compared my homes to Harden and they're just flooding me with uh with FUs which is fantastic because that's what I want man that's what I want I want these new rivalries we're so close we're so similar as schools just giant state schools that just love their sports and want us to succeed so bad.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah powerhouses and much no no no not at all I mean you could say they're I guess a powerhouse in baseball everybody's letting me know that they had Barry Bonds and Reggie Jackson went there which okay cool I know the Arizona schools are both pretty good at baseball uh but I feel like Arizona's the more sorry one I might be talking about my behind right now but I feel like they've definitely been better baseball and basketball they've definitely been better recently I feel like um I feel like I haven't seen an Arizona State baseball like team be successful recently but I don't know who knows but glad to have them how do they have basketball not good not good i they have a year every once in a while but not like I mean no Arizona is just far and away the better basketball program but you know Arizona State's cool they're they're fun it's where all the Californians that can't get into UCLA and Cal and Stanford oh wow which is listen I would be right there with them so I don't I don't know I feel like I feel like if I was in California I'd be destined to be a Fresno guy okay shouts out Fresno hey new pack new pack 12 yeah new dude yeah thanks for bringing that up man thoughts uh I mean they're they're surviving I'll give them good for Washington State good for Oregon State that's what that's my that was my first thought it doesn't like whatever you added Fresno State but like they did it for them yeah they did it you know uh they they they what they're doing is smart man I thought this whole time that what the what what organ seat and I have talked about this what I thought Oregon State Wazie were going to do were they were gonna just absorb the Mountain West like it was it wasn't gonna be like a one buying the other it was just gonna be like an agreement of moving into each other and they would just drop the Mount West and everyone would put a Pac-12 patch on it.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: So it looks like they're being smart apparently they can still do that.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: I feel like that's still on the table um but they're smart to take the the clear cut above top teams uh in in the Mountain West and uh it'll be interesting to see what comes look it really does look like Memphis and Tulane will probably head on over to I think that's a good idea.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: I think that the this new Pac 12 rearrangement will be the best of the G6.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: And it just it seems like this realignment stuff is just a constant uh constant game of leapfrog you know yeah and yeah the the the gap between uh the the P4 and the G5 or G sh G6 I should say really G5 you're gonna put packs 12 maybe in its own range it's gonna get stupid like it's gonna get it's gonna be a chasm.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah once once we don't even know what's happening with the ACC I mean we talked about this a little bit briefly when the Pac 12 news broke but like Stanford and Cal just need to hop back now.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: That's what they need to do.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: They no longer need to be in the ACC they just need to hop back be with those Pac 12 bros on the West Coast smoo I guess you can follow them like you know especially if the ACC falls apart like I think we're all kind of expecting it to yeah um I I just think that's our next step here.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah for sure and there'll be a P3 um so AC obviously we're gonna take we're gonna take all the top that's all the all the ACC schools that we can um but yeah dude strange times and I don't know if you saw but air speaking of Mount West apparently Air Force Academy is looking to head over to the American so uh which makes which makes sense I mean it'd be kind of cool to see all the all the academies into one conference and now with the news of the uh the top of the Mount West in and out yeah you have to believe that the air force is about to head over to the American sure absolutely go go falcons this stuff never stops man it's crazy it's crazy how much it hasn't stopped like I thought there was gonna be a lull but there it's it's this is clearly going to be hot for a few years.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: No man when you get two programs like UT and OU leaving that just it's going to be a constant the dominoes have been insane the dominoes are nuts.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: I'm tired of it I'm tired of this grandpa I want I want the old Southwest conference back but I can't have it it's okay I like this new conference listen I like it I I like having like we mentioned earlier I like having Arizona State I like that Colorado's coming to Lubbock later I like that we're going to Tucson later I'm I'm excited for all these schools Utah too even yeah absolutely I think I think the Big 12 is in a really really good spot I remember you and I have had this conversation it's kind of funny that's turned into a realignment talk just from the the Pac 12 like announcing that the their pillaging of the Mountain West but um it's I remember having this discussion with you whenever uh you T know you were heading out and you and I were talking about like what the future of the Big 12 is and obviously this this talk was um especially once uh UCLA and USC headed out that everyone's like four corners four corners four corners and obviously it became destiny and I remember whenever I was I remember telling you on this podcast that if the Big 12 can go out and get those four corner schools I feel really good about the future of the conference.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Yep like maintaining its spot at the table of being a big boy.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: And I think I think we've really done well in fortifying ourselves because I really think once the ACC reaches a breaking point then the Big 12 is in a position of power to be able to to be selective to go and get your Louisville Virginia Tech and anyone else you know you're you're looking to get um that's not heading to one of the uh the monster two so um the Big 12's in a really good place man and it's just really fun teams in here right now and I it's just gonna be fun to enjoy for a bit because the strength of the Big 12 is you know we were saying this over and over again is there's nobody that's a clear cut above the other in the sense of like say an Alabama versus a Vanderbilt in an essence you know and or maybe like a UT in a Mississippi state at this point.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: So it we just don't have that you can obviously there's the reflectives in the Big Ten as well.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: So that's what's really great about this conference um and it's just gonna be a lot of fun to see unfold.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah even when you're talking about a bottom feeder probably for the next number of years in like a Houston they're an electric basketball program like exactly they're just killing it at that so we don't have really that school that is just a bottom feeder um in everything right now which is really cool and exciting and I think the even the newbies from last year are kind of stepping up their game UCF's looking pretty good to start up the year they just had a comeback victory against TCU.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah so it's an exciting time to be a Big 12 fan and um you know hopefully we'll be able to make the trips out to to Boulder and Tucson and uh Tempe and even potentially you know a Raleigh or a Louisville or a Blacksburg in the future.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah absolutely dude um so speaking of Big 12 man uh any any thoughts around our home here that are kind of like any storylines uh popping out to you here in uh week heading to week four you know the Cam rising thing is really interesting with Utah um I because they're obviously a significantly different team without him um I I've been kind of impressed with you know Kansas State uh avery uh avery Johnson is not necessarily living up to expectations quite yet but he is a sophomore isn't he yeah yeah but people were expecting him to be just unbelievable I think the most surprising thing to me is West Virginia because yeah yeah they have really really had a bad start to the year and now that we're getting to this point in the Neil Brown era you're dropping a game to Pitt you're dropping a game to Penn State and not just dropping a game to Penn State a a stinker to Penn State in your house you know this is not the West Virginia team that we expected Garrett Green is not playing up to par for what people expected.
- 35:01SPEAKER_02: Um so I don't know it's interesting I I've it's been fun I think a fun start to the year definitely not a disappointing start there have been you know certain teams in the Big 12 including our own that have dropped games that you know you wish you shouldn't but um overall I think we're fine I think we're looking all right yeah dude uh I think I think that the the the you West Virginia is a really good one to point out but even West Virginia um I don't know if anyone was pointing them out to be like world beaters.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: I think everyone was just kind of pointing them out to be like Neil Brown's on the up and it just doesn't appear that he is uh but the with the funny one is Kansas.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: I think Kansas is probably the funniest storyline they were like teen something uh at the start of the year right uh here it ranked so and then they just go and just get rolled by Bert in Illinois and and um and now they are they they go and lay an egg against uh University in the battle Las Vegas which UNLB baby no uh no hate towards the reps i mean they went to Houston and just made the Couggs look stupid uh way more stupid than the Sooners did and I the Sooners are probably fraudulent but um UNLB might be good.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: Unlb yeah they might just be good we're probably talking we might be talking about like a number one or two team in the Mount West right now uh looking to get into the playoffs.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: So uh but it's it's kind of funny to see them do that.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: Um and obviously another thing is kind of seeing where where things are shaking out in in the middle as well uh like like the TCU versus the UCF game I thought was pretty telling um seeing uh who's going up who's going down perhaps and it would bring no nothing but laughs for me to watch the uh sunny dykes era just nosedive from their miracle season at the beginning with G Pads to the players so just to watch that unfold would be quite pleasing to me and also props to the to the Mormons out in Utah as well uh they seem to be finding ways to stay undefeated so that that Kansas State in pro bow game has a bit of intrigue.
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah definitely I don't think this is really how a lot of people expected the Big 12 to be playing out with uh an undefeated Arizona State you know undefeated BYU to start off the year uh Iowa State is surprisingly has only played two games I guess they've already had their bye week last week um but even Baylor looks better you know Cincinnati looks a little better Colorado they're they're just Colorado I don't know what to think of them they're so flashy but they're not a good team like I don't know what to think and then Texas Tech who has been had a really really bad start to the year and then actually might have turned some things around against North Texas.
- 37:42SPEAKER_02: So um yeah can't I as a I will say something on Kansas I've been a hater I've been a pretty big hater of the Jayhawks now your brother can attest to this too because me and him share this hatred for the Kansas Jayhawks I'm tired of the Jaden Daniels hype.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm tired or Jalen I'm sorry I'm tired of the Jalen Daniels I'm tired of the Lance Lipold hype I'm sick of it these guys are fine these guys fine it is not like it it's nothing special over there.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: I have not thought that Kansas is anything special they are a competent program.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: I'll push back on that I mean what what he's been able to do was turn Kansas from arguably the worst team in the entire FPS at least in the P5 into a team with a heartbeat a team that was ranked a team that wins games again was impressive like you can't just you can't just write that off um but it kind of seems like we might be settling into a uh Iowa State Matt Campbell sort of situation uh maybe Matt Campbell is obviously Iowa State's probably best in the modern era it'd be a good situation and you know you now Iowa State is no longer that Kansas I was just talking about now they are a team you do fear going to Ames because you know you're gonna get a fight.
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: You know it's not gonna be easy.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: And I I just think that's where Lance has the Jayhawks now.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: And that's that's no disrespect.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: I mean I think Tex Tech fans are still looking for that right now as well.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: Like we at least we at least want to find that competency where every single week we know it's gonna be a fight and we know that uh we're in it.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: So that's just that's no disrespect to those programs.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: But then again I do think tech probably should expect more than those two fan bases typically um but I that's that's kind of where my thought my my headspace is look at the turnaround was impressive no doubt turning around that that dumpster fire of a Kansas Jayhawk football program into what it is now is an accomplishment but the man is not a top three coach in the Big 12.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: The man is not a top 10 coach in college football like what he's put on these lists year after year.
- 39:51SPEAKER_02: Yep yep so I'm just sick of the Kansas hype and I'm tired of looking at the stupid bird on the helmet.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: It's way too big it looks stupid.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: I'm done with it how could you possibly say top three in the Big 12?
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: Like how could that people do it man they do obviously Mike Gundy number one and or Kyle now Kyle Whittingham my bad uh well Whittingham or you could put Kleiman and I was gonna say and then and then Kleiman like but I I obviously for longevity and success I think you have to put Gundy at number one uh or Whittingham for what he's done in the Pac 12.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Uh those are probably interchangeable too than Clyman you know right behind him.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: So I I don't know how you could possibly put Lance in that conversation with those guys no no uh I I wouldn't put Scott Sattersfield either what about Dion Sanders listen Dion the beard makes him look real old I like the beard the beard's fine like like he's pulling it off okay don't get it twisted but it he looks ancient now with when he went you know he looks like he's pushing 70 years old no kill come on dude it is bright gray like 50 I don't know 50 something he looks like he's 70 no the beard's not doing him favors oh all our dads have gray hair dude and I guess they duh we're getting 50 I'm getting gray hair like we're getting old okay no he just he just he needs to go clean shaven go Dion I like the beard I like it I think I think very sexy i'm I'm I'm about it I'm about it um all right uh what about okay speaking of uh new new sticks what about Aranda's glasses oranda's glass I haven't seen a random's glasses yeah every game he's he looks he obviously has that like uh Oscar the Grouch look on his face and now he's got these big old Harry Potter glasses on now.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: Good for Dave uh I don't know maybe that man's cooked that man's so cooked Baylor Baylor's looking better I'll give them that they're looking better than last year they did just come off a pretty dominant win over our Air Force Falcons so they beat the troops uh that's not okay you can't okay Baylor that's not cool you end them you know the Utah game wasn't like a trouncing it wasn't great it was actually a lot further away than the final score suggested but no I mean Baylor's at least you know decent this year we'll see them we'll see them as they get into Big 12 play I'm uh I would be worried mostly about Kansas West Virginia and TCU right now those are those are the three that are kind of those fan bases are like okay uh oh yeah no you can see some people stepping off the trains um but dude obviously the game of the week it looks like number 12 at number 14 Oklahoma State to spectacular coaches in there still still kicking ass um so it's gonna be on Fox do we know if this is the big noon game there how could it possibly not be well there's is there a Big 10 game on well of course there is but but is there like a good Big 10 game the one on Steven because that'll get the big noon.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: Steven um how do you feel about these um uh these these these pregame shows showing up to games that they are not broadcasting uh I think that is a massive L.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: I think that is so are you kidding me?
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: They're going to Marshall at Ohio State Oh they are they're going to Marshall Marshall Ohio State How could you not be going to oh it's big new it has to be at noon okay that's why okay my bad my bad I was about to say how could this not be going to still water but where's game day going college game day not a big fan this year is what I'll say I I think I'm with you man yeah it's I you you seem to be out on the Saban thing it's not Saban necessarily it's
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Think McAfee, he's fine.
- 44:01SPEAKER_02: I'm not a McAfee hater by any means.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: There's definitely McAfee haters out there.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: I'm not a McAfee hater.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: There's too many guys, there's too many people on this pregame show.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: They don't need that many.
- 44:13SPEAKER_02: I've talked about this and I've actually heard this from uh from Bill Simmons and Ryan Rasilla.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: They always talk about like you know their pregame shows and how to do it.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: You need four guys, that's what you need.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: Four guys, that's perfect.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: The NBA has done this masterfully.
- 44:28SPEAKER_02: The NBA on TNT crew is the pre-game show slash post-game show that you should base everything off of when you're talking about a sports show.
- 44:38SPEAKER_02: Four guys, two funny dudes, one real analyst, and one guy that keeps everything together.
- 44:44SPEAKER_02: Like that's what you need.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: And they got Herb Street.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: I you know, they got Lee Corso needs to not.
- 44:52SPEAKER_02: He needs to not.
- 44:53SPEAKER_02: And he we've been saying this for like 10 years now.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: Of course, CD's off by the time he comes on.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean, that's in that like I'm not on that anymore.
- 45:00SPEAKER_02: I just feel bad for him.
- 45:01SPEAKER_02: Like, I feel bad for him every every time he comes on with whatever.
- 45:05SPEAKER_02: And luckily, they've like limited the amount of times he's actually on camera.
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: And you know, he it's a three-game show, he's probably on it for maybe 20 minutes of it, which is good.
- 45:15SPEAKER_02: But you know, you didn't need to add Saban and McAfee, you know, you didn't need to add either one of them, to be honest.
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: Like, bring them in for stints here or there, but I guess you know, Saban brings in eyes, so does McAfee.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I know why they did it, it's just made the show worse.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: Which one do you prefer, Big Noon or uh Gulch football?
- 45:34SPEAKER_02: I prefer Big Noon, I think, because it's a little fresher, and I think those guys are a little more to the point.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: Uh, but they have kind of the same situation, they bring on too many people a lot of the time.
- 45:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you you know, my yeah, my issue with Big Noon is when they bring on like musicians.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I am not watching this dude.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: I am changing the channel.
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: I do not need to watch Machine Gun Kelly play here in Morgantown.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Like, I I'm gonna go ahead and tune into college game day for a second.
- 46:01SPEAKER_01: Uh so I mean I flipped between the two, but I'm with you.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: I think I probably spent a little more time on on uh on Fox, but uh, but yeah, dude.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: So before we uh before we start wrapping things up, uh I just have one question for you uh with the slates in the Big 12.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: Who are you pulling for, TCU or SMU?
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: Battle for the Iron Skillet.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: We know our love for smooth fan 2024 on here.
- 46:28SPEAKER_02: But I'm pulling for the TCU Hornfrogs.
- 46:31SPEAKER_02: Got it?
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: Got it okay.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: I have to agree, but it would be really funny if they lost SMU.
- 46:37SPEAKER_02: It would be it's funny either way, like this is funny either way.
- 46:40SPEAKER_02: I'm looking, I'm looking at it as a win-win situation for me because I get to see either TCU just fall even further, or I get to see SMU continue to lose to the Big 12 and try to talk so much shit.
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 46:56SPEAKER_01: And I think it's even funnier that it's gonna be on the CW.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: It's on it's being broadcasted on the CW.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: That's like it's gonna be right after Gilmore Girls.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: That's that's like those first few games for the tournament, the NCA tournament that are on true TV.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then it's just non-stop impractical jokers after that.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Like they didn't need so Gilmore Girls, TCU SMU, and they're gonna follow up with vampire diaries.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: It's it's gonna be quite the Saturday night slates.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: Give me the CW pregame show.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: All right, I'm looking to see one of those.
- 47:35SPEAKER_02: Get like the worst of the worst.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: I'm tuning into that, dude.
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: All right, man.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: Do we want to wrap it up right here?
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's go ahead and call it.
- 47:45SPEAKER_02: All right, man.
- 47:47SPEAKER_02: Song of the week.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: Steven, I have a beautiful song with a beautiful message, just art artistic genius, beautiful writing.
- 47:58SPEAKER_01: Uh, obviously a song of a generation.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: There's just no denying that.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: And on deck, what I have here is uh one for the boys.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: Um, it's written for the boys, by the boys, to celebrate the boys.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: And as we roll into Love Expensive, just want to let you know that the boys are back in town by Thin Lizzie.
- 48:19SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's playing right now.
- 48:25unknown: It's a back in town.
- 48:26SPEAKER_04: It's a back in town.
- 48:31SPEAKER_04: It's a back in town.
- 48:37SPEAKER_02: The boys are back in town.
- 48:38SPEAKER_02: That's a fantastic pick.
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: That's a that's a great pick.
- 48:42SPEAKER_02: Uh, we this is not a boys' trip.
- 48:44SPEAKER_02: We talked about this earlier.
- 48:45SPEAKER_01: It's not, but the boys will be the boys will be back in town.
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: I'm so freaking excited.
- 48:52SPEAKER_02: We're gonna be playing some thin Lizzie rolling into Lubbock, Texas.
- 48:55SPEAKER_02: Um, my song of the week is a banger, certified banger.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: Everybody knows, uh, or everybody should know this song.
- 49:03SPEAKER_02: We've probably done it before, but I'm gonna do it again.
- 49:05SPEAKER_02: Because we are returning to the great city of Lubbock, Texas.
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: This will be the first time in four years that I am back.
- 49:13SPEAKER_02: My song of the week is Heaven by the Los Lonely Boys.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: Such an electric song.
- 49:21SPEAKER_02: It's a top fiver for me.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: Lubbock, Texas is heaven, heaven, Los Lonely Boys.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: I've been lost in my own place, and I'm getting weary.
- 49:34SPEAKER_04: Have far is ever die.
- 49:39SPEAKER_01: There's no chance this hasn't already been played, but I was this close to doing another song again as well.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: It's like I feel like I could just run it back.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but we could run it back.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: This is this is a good moment, this is a fine moment to have a duplicate, and we're ready to go, we're ready to roll.
- 49:53SPEAKER_02: I love Lubbock, I am so ready to be back in the 806.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: If there's anybody that's gonna be there, shouts out.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: I think we got a couple people that have already reached out that are saying, hey, come to the stailgate, do whatever.
- 50:03SPEAKER_02: So really excited, man.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, dude.
