- 3:39odd that the sale of the San Diego Padres and
- 3:42the Los Angeles Lakers would become a flashpoint
- 3:44for Major League Baseball's push for a salary
- 3:47cap, but make no mistake, the league and the
- 3:50Major League Baseball Players Association are
- 3:53already teeing it up. For all the talk by Major
- 3:57League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred about
- 3:59listening to fans regarding implementing a salary
- 4:02cap, Underneath the surface is something tied
- 4:05to it that would massively inflate owner profits,
- 4:08increased franchise valuations. On Monday, Major
- 4:12League Baseball's owners unanimously approved
- 4:15the record -setting $3 .8 billion sale to the
- 4:18new ownership group of the San Diego Padres.
- 4:22Meanwhile, Mark Walter sold the Los Angeles Lakers
- 4:25to Bob Iger and Joshua Kushner for an eye -popping
- 4:29$12 .5 billion. in local sports. The Red Sox
- 4:34go for the sweep this afternoon at Fenway, first
- 4:38pitch 4 -10 against Arizona. Boston has taken
- 4:42the first two of this series by a combined score
- 4:45of 20 -5, including an 11 -1 blowout Monday night.
- 4:51Peyton Tully gets the ball against Brandon Fodd.
- 4:55The Sox are 68 -58, winners of two straight.
- 4:59and the Bats have been rolling all series. A
- 5:02weak Diamondbacks club and a hot lineup make
- 5:05this a good spot for Boston to finish it off
- 5:08and carry some momentum into the stretch run.
- 5:12Meanwhile, Jason Tatum is already grinding for
- 5:15next season. The Celtics posted workout clips
- 5:18of him hitting one -legged threes in fadeaways
- 5:21that racked up a quarter million views, plus
- 5:24footage of him and Joe Mazzulla in a boxing session.
- 5:28Tatum played just 16 games last year recovering
- 5:31from a torn Achilles. And with Jalen Brown now
- 5:34in Philadelphia, he is set to shoulder a bigger
- 5:37offensive load. The Seas looks ready for it.
- 5:43In top news, State Farm is sending $5 billion
- 5:47in dividend checks to customers. Millions of
- 5:51customers are receiving checks after the company's
- 5:54largest dividend in history was announced earlier
- 5:56this year. More than 7 .2 million checks have
- 6:01been mailed since payments began on July 31st,
- 6:04with another 3 .8 million set to go out this
- 6:07week, according to Steve Baldwin, a spokesperson

- 6:24The average refund will be $100 per vehicle,
- 6:28but exact amounts vary based on premiums paid.
- 6:33In business news, Prediction Market platform
- 6:36Kelshe, in a regulatory filing on Tuesday, revealed
- 6:40it is seeking to launch perpetual futures tied
- 6:43to equity indexes. This latest move aims to expand
- 6:47beyond its prediction market's offerings. which
- 6:50began in late May when Kalshi first received
- 6:52approval for perpetual futures tied to cryptocurrencies.
- 6:57Perpetual futures, colloquially known as PERPs,
- 7:00are contracts without expiration, allowing traders
- 7:04to track asset prices continuously. Kalshi's
- 7:08U .S. 500 PERP would tie to the Mercubi U .S.
- 7:12Large Cap Index, tracking the largest 500 companies
- 7:15in the U .S. Last month, Kalshi proposed perps
- 7:19tied to precious metals and is now seeking approval

- 8:46The spacecraft splashed down in the Indian Ocean,
- 8:49intact after flying halfway around the world,
- 8:52from SpaceX's launch base in South Texas. Engineers
- 8:56expected the ship's life to end with a fiery
- 8:59disintegration after toppling over, just as past
- 9:02Starships have done. A recovery ship towed the
- 9:06spacecraft engine first several hundred miles
- 9:08across the Indian Ocean to Christmas Island and
- 9:11Australian territory. SpaceX announced the ship's
- 9:15arrival on Tuesday. A team of SpaceX engineers
- 9:19is on their way to conduct additional analysis
- 9:22on the vehicle before attempting to return it
- 9:24to Starbase. Paramount Plus' two -part masterpiece
