Transcript
- 0:05[SPEAKER_03]: And welcome in folks, it is January 5th, 642 Mountain Time.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_03]: I am Nick Kendall joined by Eric Trickle.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_03]: Eric, the Denver Broncos, our Denver Broncos listeners, chat, your Denver Broncos, the number one seed in the AFC.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_03]: God bless, we're here.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_03]: We, I guess the one sad thing is we don't get to watch the Broncos this upcoming weekend, and it wasn't the most, you know, exhibition game that we saw versus the Tarders a little bit of nerves there.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think the announcers were,
- 0:33[SPEAKER_03]: you know, playing it up a bit if you were listening as well as watching Eric, but Denver takes care of the chargers, 19 to three, and they have the number one seed in the AFC a by week, what a great regular season.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm shocking to me to some extent, I guess, to get the number one seed, especially with all the dead cap hit in the, we just saw Charles Cross get a big contract yesterday, one of those top 10 picks, the Broncos gave up when they got for Russell
- 1:01[SPEAKER_03]: as well, that's more hurtful to me than the Caproom.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_03]: So, man, what a job, Bonix, Sean Payton, George Payton, Bands Joseph, everybody, the top-to-bottom, number one seed, what a regular season it has been.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I think we're playing mostly with house money from this point going forward mostly.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I have a chance to talk about that.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think that we had a bet earlier in the season, where you had to shave your head or something like that because if the Broncos one more than like 10 games just on my that I don't think that was me that doesn't somebody can find that I don't think I don't hope and you'd buy it.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: I was hoping you'd buy it.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: I was hoping.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the person always wagers their hair is Carl not me.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I have other than facial here.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_03]: I've not done that.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's just a joke nobody's actually made that wager, but no, I mean, it was a great season, you know, a lot of people, especially after the start, one and two, a lot of people were, you know, saying that Denver was done basically and right and Denver off.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: And they managed to pull it off that one streak was unbelievable, not just the fact that they pulled off that mini straight wins, but how they pulled some of those off.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: And well, it's just an unbelievable season.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be fun to look back and reflect on it, but just still have, you know, games left that before we even get to that, as you said, no game this weekend, because it got that number one seed.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully, I think this is a great year to get that number one seed.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: with how wide open the AFC is and, you know, it's on to, it's on to this week, fixing some of those issues that you had against the charges, getting into the red zone or near the red zone as often as they did and walking out with field goals and said a Dutch ounce, got to figure out what's with that.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was vanilla play calling and it was it maybe it was execution, maybe it was combination of things.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: And then next week, it's on to preparing for whoever you end up going to be facing, which could be the
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, very well, could be the only two teams that cannot be, would be the New England Patriots or the Jacksonville Jaguars, both of those teams assuming they win this weekend, would Patriots would obviously host a game being a two-seat and Jackson would head that way or host a game if the Patriots lose to the Chargers, which is possible.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, everybody's on fraud watch with every single team in the AFC, it feels like, but you know, Patriots only winning two games a season versus teams with above 500 records.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_03]: pretty well against them on the whole two.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_03]: So who knows?
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think I'd rather have the chargers coming in than the Texans, but we did see the Texans give up 30 points or something to the Riley Leonard Colts as well and a game that did matter for them at the time as well.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_03]: So because they weren't sure.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I guess probably halfway through they knew the check is going to end because they obliterated the Titans.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: But
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, it's a, it has been a really good season and then man, what a, what a turn around to be, we're for front, front runners now.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_03]: We still do love underdogs though, Eric on the whole as well.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's just too good of a transition.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: I know we're a little early, but we still do love underdogs.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, speaking to motor dogs, the NFL playoffs are here.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: And underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: Are you ready to get off the bench and into the game and head over to underdog?
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, it's not just football, whether you're in a basketball hockey or any sport in between, underdog is the best place to get in on all the action all season long.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: That's right, playing on underdog is easy.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_03]: Just pick whether your favorite players will go higher on lower on stats, such as rushing yards, past yards, receptions, touchdowns, et cetera, et cetera, and much more.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_03]: Get your picks right and you could win it to 5,000 times your cash.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a lot of people have so much fun pulling underdog and winning money.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: We're watching football.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's a touchdown, you guys.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: You can download the Underdog app today and sign up with promo code M-Hotl to score 75 dollars in bonus entries when you play your first $5.

- 5:21[SPEAKER_03]: awesome awesome let's say a lot of people in the chat now that we got business out of the way we got David young can come in here says a win as a win regardless of how ugly thank God for that defensive touchdown and that defensive strip sack there's ten points right there I mean Denver finally kind of getting on the turnover turn around there and I know it was against trade lands and everything there, but I feel as encouraged as you could be given the opponents you are playing versus the the last you know
- 5:50[SPEAKER_03]: What, two weeks, three of the last two weeks?
- 5:54[SPEAKER_03]: Who'd Denver play last week?
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like totally blank in right now.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking, I'm Christmas.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_03]: They did do chiefs.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, that feels like so long ago, man.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, it was the chiefs because they had that Thursday game.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_03]: So, really the last two games.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they dominated the I'm the quarterbacks matter.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, you play who's in front of you as well.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: And they gotta be feeling pretty, pretty good to see a David and yeah.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_03]: a win as a win as a win.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_03]: We saw some teams playing some teams that were out this week that, you know, gave it up.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_03]: And this chargers team has had the Broncos number.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really, really hoping Jesse mentor gets hired somewhere because he seems to really have Sean Payton's number.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_03]: Not many do Jesse mentor up front.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what it is if it's a scheme, but Denver just can't seem to block him up up front or get deep shots on them.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_03]: So tough game for the Broncos offense,
- 6:43[SPEAKER_03]: to be got Dave Glassman coming this is please pay and I hope you have some great offense to wait for us.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_03]: Okay Eric I do want to ask you this and maybe this is just me being copium but it felt very vanilla preseason offense out there a lot for the last two weeks for the Broncos now.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: some of it's very frustrating.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously just like blocking them up in the run game.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_03]: But the I felt like a lot of good run blitzes from Jesse mentioned the chargers.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_03]: Is it cope for me to say that the Broncos were playing not to show anything and not to lose to a certain extent this week and last week as well given the
- 7:19[SPEAKER_03]: level of the opponent that they were playing, not having to show your cards not having to you know, going your bag for everything and just play not to lose and very simple not show anything.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_03]: Is that cope of me to say that?
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and no.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think for the most part that was what they were doing.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think when they got into scoring position, they kind of went into their bag a little bit more and then they just struggled to execute there.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, and then when they needed, they obviously pulled some
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: but I don't think it was, you know, the whole time.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that they were going vanilla is super simple, super clean, not just wanting to show anything, just when they needed to did pull something out and just struggle there.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: So a little bit of both, more so vanilla I would say, but yeah, it was a, it was a concern with them.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's a concern with this offense because the his the track record that they're building in getting close to the red zone or in the red zone and walk away with field goals isn't great and it's not just the last two games and that was an issue that they had against the Jaguars as well and that was a game where they definitely weren't being vanilla at all and they're trying to walk out with the win in that one desperately.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's, it's a concern and Jesse Menter definitely has a has Baton's number.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: He has the blocking concepts number both in the run and pass.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Then we're only allowed over 40% pressure rate all season long twice and both times with the tractors.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_03]: And we're doing the right game.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_03]: They're really struggling against the Raiders Thursday night, too.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: They the Raiders on Thursday night was 30 sick was basically 37% and then the Texans game was it was 38 and a 1.5% So only two games over 40 was the 40.6 in this last one and then 43 3.8 in the first one.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: So just the two charges games and they just had their number all night long bad game from the offensive line Quinn minors looked rough like
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully it's just something that Jesse mentor sees on tape and it's just able to exploit that fortunately other teams haven't.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: And hopefully if Jesse mentor doesn't get hard away as many people expect Sean Payton and Zach Street 50 still around next season looks to the tape and find whatever that issue is and fix it.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, they have a week to work on it as well.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: If the chart is doing it coming back to Denver.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_03]: So we will see.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_03]: I was not great from the offense.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_03]: I did want to give a
- 9:38[SPEAKER_03]: Super chat coming in here.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: Perry West $20.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you so much Perry flashing orange on us on our screen says good morning guys offense looked okay defense was on point for most of the game special teams were good.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's special teams were fine.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: I can't, there was a punt that really, I messaged in the chat that I was pissed off because it was like they punted from the 50, which I understood, but you cannot have a touch back there, like you just keep can't do that and only give up what 30 net yards, change you might as well go forward if that's what's going to happen.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_03]: So that was the one that really bothered me, just not a good enough punt, not good enough coverage, either you need a little bit more air on it.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_03]: But you guys got to figure out how to keep that from being a touch back.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, those yards really matter in the NFL.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_03]: So that was the one that stood out to me.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_03]: I would that irritated me for the Broncos, but other than that, I thought good specialty and shout out to will lots for coming through and maybe he'll be special teams player the week again.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_03]: It's not going to be either the kickers in the Pittsburgh Ravens game last night.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think, but probably I'll give a shout to will lots for that one.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's going to be a little right.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: 67 yarder.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, special teams was was was good.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think the punting was great because Jeremy Krosser also had another one that he kind of shanked.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Um, that was really short as well.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: So it was a hit or miss game.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he punted what nine ten times on the game and you know if we can only think of two points.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's not a bad bad points.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's not a bad game from the pointer.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Marvin Mim said a big return and they didn't allow, you know, many big things to happen for the chargers and go the chargers way.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'd say overall it had soft to the special teams unit had soft to the defense.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Offends again, that's just where they struggle a little bit, even with them.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: So even with Jessie, mid to having the number, even with the, you know, the depth that they do have on the defensive side of the ball, which I can't remember who it was, but I've seen a few people come up to this as when you get back up to step in and play as good as the charges did, that is a sign of good coaching.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: And that is going to be a big reason why Jessie, mid to cover it as a head coach.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: So they really had to tip to them, but man, again, just to offense what they did against a team that didn't have any of their stars on defense.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's, it's a concern, but yeah, mostly the game defense was on point, special teams were good.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and just kind of showing the punching discrepancy on granted JK scots a great punter for the chargers, but he had seven punts 50.7 average for in the 20 that in the 20s the main stat there for me.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_03]: outside of the turnovers, of course, for the Broncos as well.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_03]: And that was the key difference in the game now.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_03]: I do think the Broncos, if they had to turn it up a bit, they would have.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_03]: But the one thing on offense that I think goes against kind of the cope that we were talking about, that I've seen, you know, online and everything.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_03]: And I feel like a little bit too.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_03]: But I think if you were playing so conservative and like, felt like you had the game, no matter what you did, like, in hand.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_03]: If you didn't outright lose it, do you see,
- 12:44[SPEAKER_03]: bonus rush at eight times in a game like that.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I know that it's like you still have to win the game, but I feel like, you know, the scramble attempts from the quarterback.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_03]: If you are like head and shoulders above a team, right, you like, okay, well, get rid of the ball protect yourself like a bonus goes down.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: Uh oh, right.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_03]: So that's the one where it's like, I don't know how truly they were being.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_03]: coach, you know, not show anything or play like conservative and protect themselves.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_03]: Get out of there with no injuries because Bonax especially the last two weeks is really up to the rushing, which is a good part of the offense.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't love that you've had to play that card versus the two opponents that we did play these last two weeks.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I don't think that's necessarily a sign against the vanilla offense or anything like that.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's just bone X being a competitor, seeing the opportunity and still wanting to go out there and lead the team to win.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: Because what all eight of those were on scramble's might have been one and that because there's that what there's a one screen where he pulled it down and ran, which that was a smart decision by him because that screen was blown up.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: and you know, there was the big sample.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: And even after that outside of the screen one, I can't remember time where he put himself at risk.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: He still was safe and protected himself sliding early or stepping out of bounds.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, so he was still scrambling to protect himself and keep himself out of harm's way.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think that really goes against a vanilla play calling or anything like that and just speaks more to Bonax being the competitor that he did that he is.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:16[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's I don't know, I just didn't love that they had to run it.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_03]: It's it's good.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_03]: I like it as a break glass in case of emergency and it must have situations, but I don't love it being such a Crooks of the offense, um, as much as it has been the last two weeks.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, we'll see.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_03]: We got Mike Thompson coming in here says number one seed baby.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_03]: I know people were mad about winning, but I'm not number one CD.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_03]: I Denver gets a game a win that is not a one score margin.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_03]: So we don't have to be don't break the all-time record for one score wins.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_03]: I believe I know Eric's bummed about that.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_03]: He's also bummed about the, though not having the worst turnover take away season in Bronco's history.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_03]: We were close there, but the defense did they tie in the win?
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: They beat it by one.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: They set the record for the second lowest.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: The record still belongs to I believe 2006.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_03]: That was that was a good team.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: No, that was the year after they went to the FC championship.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_03]: That would have been the Jay color first season.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe somewhere around there.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_03]: I'm getting an old and that's I mean, that's 20 years ago now.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_03]: So shout out to that.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not to beige anybody in here.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_03]: But, yeah, thank you so much.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: Mike, yeah, number one seed.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_03]: Do I take much away from this game?
- 15:26[SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, the big things I'm taking away from this game, Eric.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_03]: You mentioned it, the red zone stuff still concerning for me.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_03]: The run game stuff, very concerning for me, specifically RJ Harvey, they are running it well.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_03]: I think early on, but they climb down, try to judge the little mcluff one, and he might need to be getting way more of the snaps, which I don't have the keys incredibly talented, but six carriers for 41 yards versus 15 for 28.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_03]: I mean,
- 15:53[SPEAKER_03]: ding ding ding.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's not a huge African difference for the Broncos run game between Harvey and McLaughlin.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: We got Spaceman coming in and said, I'd be shocked if the playoffs are just screens and runs.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_03]: We have seen what this offense needs when they need it.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_03]: I just had to coast.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not worried because I remember how it was the last 10 years.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_03]: I guess I am worried a little bit, but I'm always worried a little bit.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_03]: You know, there's things to work on.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think Sean Payton had a quote on the post game press conference about not being satisfied or he's never happy.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think what's his exact quote is like, my coach, some people come, you know, Twitter or whatever is like, man, you're negative.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_03]: It's like,
- 16:31[SPEAKER_03]: There's no such thing as a perfect game, and there's always things to poke at and product.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_03]: That's within the game itself.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_03]: That's with team building too.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you can always got to strive to reinvent yourself as a team, game to game, drive to drive, and season to season.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm,
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: I think I share, I don't share a brain shopping.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_03]: He's much smart football smarter, maybe I'm nicer.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, but he's on with him as far as never being totally satisfied.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_03]: And the Dylan has some news for us as to Fansky fired out of Cleveland.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_03]: He'll be gobbled up quickly if he wants a job.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_03]: I would imagine given his scheme in the absolute, you know what that has been Cleveland for a few seasons, but I'll be curious.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_03]: So we have,
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: two official fireings in the last 24 hours now in my we had some jobs that were already open but it is black Monday today so not having to worry about that for the Broncos what we are going to have to worry about is coaches being picked and plucked and taken away but we will
- 17:32[SPEAKER_03]: Well, address that one to get there, maybe the chat.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe somebody will give us super chat and get into more of that as well.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_03]: But how do you feel about the not being worried and the offense, not screening and running when they have to play a theme like this?
- 17:44[SPEAKER_03]: The thing that concerns me, Eric, as I ask you question and continue to ramble, I think the defense somewhat dictates the quick passes and the screens and Denver is not.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_03]: running the ball efficiently enough to make them pay for doing that.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_03]: So it's all connected for the Broncos.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, even when they go a little bit more on the vanilla side, they're still trying to attack defenses where they are weak at, and that is something that we have seen all season long.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of fans don't like that or agree with it, but they are.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to take what the defense gives to them.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: They're just not going out there next to you.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: You brought up Harvey and I do got to give a shout out to this.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: He had 37 yards after contact.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: So that just goes to show that the line was just doing a terrible job with him.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: Even Jolima Gloflon had like 28, 25 yards after contact.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: So Gloflon was just a little bit able to make more of it and Harvey fought, but when you don't have that consistent running game for it, it really does change what you have to do up.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: You just do offensively in the past game.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: That screen game and that quicker passing game.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: That becomes an extension of the running game because you can't fall back on that running game.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: You want those quick completions and you use those to help or not the clock and, you know, keep that ball control aspect of it, what Sean Peyton has really Delved into over the course of the last five, six, seven weeks of this season of just, you know, those.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how many six plus minute drives we've had or eight plus minute drives you had, but it seems like there's been a lot.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: So it's I get not being worried and there's I think there is a lot that people are worrying about what this offense that they shouldn't be.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: The one element that I do think are the two elements I would say that I think there is the lack of consistent running game and the issues in the red zone because we saw what that can do against a team like the Jaguars where you're getting into the red zone and unable to score and we even saw that in the Packers game just on the flip side of it the Packers are getting we're moving the ball getting into the red zone are getting close to an unable to finish off in the end zone and never walked out with the win and that one they had that issue against the Jaguars they walked out with the loss in that one.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: God end drives in the end zone and that is one thing that with this offense, because it's become a trend with them.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: That is needed to be worried about.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_03]: I just I have I'll be honest, Eric, I have a real hard time.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_03]: Taking away too much from these last two games because the games felt so weird from a personnel opponent, like it's kind of like, you know, when you play a team's third string quarterback or backup quarterback and like the results are.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_03]: already at hand for a lot of those team seasons outcomes just doesn't feel like it's much of a gauge for the team, the offense and generally still got to go out there and when I'm like there's guys out there playing for their own contracts like that does matter, but not to be negative or anything like that, but the last game that felt like truly.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_03]: Meaningful where the stakes are high on both seeds, like a measuring stick game, was that Jack's game, and they took it to the Broncos in that one.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll see again, Democrats take care of business.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's good to get that Jim Harbaw monkey off our back to an extent.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_03]: I, like you mentioned, they were playing hard and good for him in general.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_03]: But that's a,
- 20:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be a tough charge routine to take care of if we play them again this season, but also next year, as well as they get both their super star offensive tackles back on offense, so we'll see we got Rob coming in on a KC first has number one seed let's go thank Casey hope you're doing well.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_03]: Rob comes in and says good morning Nick and Eric.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_03]: We won't land on field goals only even at the defense look pretty good Let's get Drake and I'll as year next year.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_03]: I would love Drake London and Tyler as year would be good.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of running backs that interest me can of walker love Tyler all as year as well Brie's Hall I'll be curious there's somebody else and missing as well.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_03]: I think at David Montgomery might be available for a rather cheap trade because he's a third contract
- 21:36[SPEAKER_03]: Second string running back, but he'd I mean, he'd offer a little bit to your offense as well.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_03]: I do wish it was a deeper running back class because if that was the case, I would be like one year contract ticket albums go to the draft day to make a move.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that's a good strategy for the running backs in this class.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately, this is just it's not good on the whole there's that there'll be, there'll be a few guys who step up, but just the volume is not good enough to bank on that I think so.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see, but yeah, I'd love all of you.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_03]: Also, we need to tight-end coming in here as well.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_03]: Did you see the Sean Peyton Dig at Adam Troutman post-con or just- Yeah, he has the name of it, but he said, like, Troutman was five catches away from a bonus of some sort out of the money was, and they talked about it.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: $250, okay?
- 22:21[SPEAKER_03]: $250, okay.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that, I'll take it.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: But somebody asked Sean Peyton about it and Sean's like, I told Adam, you need your five catches away, but you don't even get five catches.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_03]: That's your season total.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_03]: it's paraphrasing, but that was pretty much what it was.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: So, sorry to Adam, maybe they'll work something out to get still get him that money.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if that's allowed or anything, but that's a pretty funny and kind of also an indicator of the the tight end position for the Broncos, as well.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_03]: They could definitely use some some firepower on that side of the ball, wherever they can get it at the offensive skill spot.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think they're going to be aggressive and looking for offensive weapons in the Ops season, mainly free agency.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm expecting them to go harder than in mind, I'd talked about this a little bit on Friday night, but if Dallas, Goddard, or David and Joku both have their contracts for it, I'd expect them to go harder at one of them.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: If not them, if they're contracts unemployed and there's still a few other options out there, why receiver, I would expect them to evaluate the trade market.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: We know how aggressive Sean Payton can be with trading picks away for, especially for players that can help or even moving up in the draft and then running back.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: breeze haul, Tyler else year, you know, those are a couple of names that are out there that I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sean Peyton is looking at whatsoever, but I expect them to make some or try to make some big splashes with offensive weapons to help continue to build around bone access year.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, our next year.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: This upcoming off season.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_03]: I got you.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, good to see Steven Bungarner coming in here with the bonus avatar great to see appreciate the rider guy there.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_03]: See you've got Jay come in says let's go Broncos heck yeah Richie Rich good morning from snowy Canada.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_03]: God Rich sent some of the snow my way.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's been unbelievably warm in Colorado.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_03]: I've been enjoying it, but I've been kind of freaking out to like I think it's been it's hit 60 degrees 22 with the last 26 days.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: where the average is mid-40s and it's one of the driest warmest December January is
- 24:21[SPEAKER_03]: They've never had in Denver recorded weather recorded history.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I don't know what it means for the ski resorts out here or any of the economy, but probably not good.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_03]: Probably not good, but you're rich.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_03]: Good to see us.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_03]: I've got Michael Ronkio too, says good morning, Nick and Eric.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Broncos for breakfast, go Bo Broncos, go Michael, hope you're doing well.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_03]: We got Lee Roe coming in, says was John Peyton Con, been a law offense yesterday, the Charter's Defense Good.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_03]: Another question was that the past project, what was with the past bro?
- 24:47[SPEAKER_03]: Never seen them play this bad worst of the season.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_03]: Let me talk to you about it a lot.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_03]: Lee Roy, hopefully you heard it.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_03]: And what credit to the Charger's defense, Jesse Mentor, the block scheme, how they know the Broncos past protection rules.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_03]: And I think Denver was playing somewhat vanilla as well, but it's a little call on May column B and this one for me.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it was a little bit of both, and again, you know, the offensive line they struggled all game long, Jesse Mentor has a number, second highest pressure rate allowed on the season, only behind the charges game earlier in it, and the charges did, I will say the charges did, so blitzing more often, they blitzed, oh, not quite, but almost twice as much.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: 25 basically 26% in the first game 45% in this one.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_00]: So let's quite a bit more.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's a lot that went into it.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the charges have struggled getting pressure pretty much all season long and without, you know, their main pass gestures out there in Mac and to Lee, they had to go elsewhere and they brought some blitzes mark blitzes calculated blitzes and they got home got sacked them four times, which I think is the most that.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's poor sex is the most might be I think it's three sex versus the Raiders and that was the higher the before that there's going to be a sex it's the most it's the most we're to we're game for the Broncos often it's not good by any means I mean the bonus spray chart doesn't look very good but zero turnovers only one fall start I think from the Broncos to one five yard penalty at the leave it was a fall start I can't remember exactly it was off the top my head but
- 26:27[SPEAKER_03]: You know, turnovers and penalties.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_03]: I was something focused on now.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_03]: I got to get back in the red zone ways, which then was so good to start the season in the red zone.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_03]: Eric, I mean, the offense couldn't move the ball for bleep.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_03]: And with they got in the red zone, though, they were getting touched down.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_03]: So hopefully they can figure something out.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_03]: They got Glenn coming from down under.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_03]: This game was a little hard to watch for a fair weather fan, Peyton Ed, very mystical playbook.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_03]: We did what needed to win.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_03]: Really hope to take away sex and prove tackling on defense.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_03]: Would you say that tackling wasn't, I mean, I had to be improved based on like the Jags game, but there were still a few little squeakers here or there, where I thought the tackling could have been a little bit improved.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_03]: But he says, now we rest for whoever's the lowest seated winner next week building the Broncos for life or Broncos, you mean Broncos for breakfast for life with that one, and also said state of being, thank you, Glenn, appreciate you.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, tackling was better, but there's still moments where it can be cleaned up, especially in the run game.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: There was multiple times where, I mean, charges into a whole lot of the ground, but there were, there was sometimes, I don't know who Funga had won, Alex Singleton, who was a replay, I believe they both had won.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: uh, where it could have been a little bit better.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: So there was definitely moments.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and the fact that the chargers had basically 60 yards after contact kind of speaks to some of those tackle issues that Denver had.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: And then going back to penalties one thing is when the bruggles were entering the Jaguar's game.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: There were second most penalties in the NFL.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_00]: They are now
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a that's a positive sign for them.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_00]: And they only had one penalty, as you said, in this game, and it was on a legal shift.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_00]: So offensively, which went back and, you know, watching it, it wasn't actually an illegal shift, but a it is what it is, I guess, but it's just, it's just one of the things, but so hat tip to them that they've actually.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: drop down.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have that many more penalties than they did.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: They actually have 10 more penalties than they did entering the Jaguars game.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what three games 10 penalties.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take it and drop them down in the weather on the season.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_03]: Good to see that's something that Sean Peyton really emphasized and also the takeaways and should have been three maybe four, but that's how takeaways are and you just got to keep it at the ball and finally strip sack that might have been the first strip sack this season.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think we have one of the kids can't ward in this season opener.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, then they recovered it to yeah, okay, that's gosh, that titan's game is could have been 20 years ago just like that 2016 new referencing we got Clayton coming in hey hey guys good to see a smash that like button and share Mark Kennedy's in the house good morning go Broncos got Joey Grubbs offensive line got whooped all day yeah they
- 29:14[SPEAKER_03]: They got whipped now granted they had two injuries on the line.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you heard post-game boat bulls as ankle was like massive and he's still went out there and he said he's got there's he was talking to this locker after the game saying he's already got people at his home waiting for him when he gets home to start treatment right and uh I guess PT right away and he said there's no way in heck he's not going to go for that game here in
- 29:37[SPEAKER_03]: What do you say 13 to 14 days 12 days if it's Saturday or Sunday?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what the one seed will play for the AFC on that.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_03]: divisional around weekend, but we'll see, but they need bulls better, and you need everybody playing better.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_03]: It was a bad game overall on bummer for forced life.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't heard anything.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_03]: I'll give it to you Eric.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't heard any massive details.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_03]: We'll probably find out more Wednesday, but maybe not with the by week for the Broncos.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_03]: But you got forced life going down with mustard for coming in.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_03]: I thought forced life was playing solid football, admirable, football on the whole.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: And
- 30:10[SPEAKER_03]: Now, then you got Mustafa in there.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_03]: I believe Sam, Mustafa of third string center, then you had a crumb come in for a little bit didn't look all that good.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's your fifth string fourth string, fifth string offensive tackle.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_03]: That's to be expected to some extent.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_03]: But, uh,
- 30:26[SPEAKER_03]: Have you heard anything about the offensive line injuries?
- 30:28[SPEAKER_03]: And of course, another one, PJ Lock.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_03]: So it's really unfortunate.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like injuries.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_03]: They really pick at the same position over and over again for a lot of times, and the PJ Lock got injured.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_03]: He did come back in though, correct?
- 30:44[SPEAKER_03]: He did not come back in, he was out.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_03]: OK.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, PJ Locke was the only one who got hurt and didn't come back in for a second came out for basically a drive and then he came back in and he played well to close out the game.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then Garrett bulls went down early in the second quarter didn't come back until a few plays into the second and to the third quarter and he ended up playing a little bit better.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: It was still rough showing.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: Who was a Rika also got being up a he only missed a few plays.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, out of everybody, haven't heard any news about them, outside of Garrett Bulls, probably going to be an ankle sprain was what it sounds like and, you know, just getting that tinger of it's a some to keep an eye on.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: But for South came back, he came back.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was a riqueh was in just a few plays later.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: And actually, the his play he came back, I believe, was that sack that he was a part of and then P.J.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: locked that's the one that is a little bit concerning.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: But Devin, keep played well in his stead.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully, because hopefully, well, one that it's not nothing serious to be Jay Lock that he's not going to miss extended time that, you know, the by week in the week of prep can help bring him back because Brian and Jones isn't eligible to come back until I believe the championship game at the earliest due to how the injury reserve rules work.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_00]: And if he is and hopefully, Devon Key can keep this level a play up and not falter, you know, and their game not next week, but the week after.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's a battle of attrition, a lot of times these NFL seasons, it's why people like you and I are freak out about, you know, draft picks and just burning them because...
- 32:16[SPEAKER_03]: At some point, you're going to have to see your depth step up and when you games and it's not only in the season, it's long term building as well draft develop phase out.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's it's just it's how the got to kind of think about it like college football though, maybe older college football, not now where everybody goes to transfer portal.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think I saw a stat Eric 35% of all college football players are in the portal over 4,500 players under the portal.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_03]: Not sustainable, we'll figure something out here.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure everybody's going to frickin' Indiana too.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, it was cute at first.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_03]: Now I'm getting, starting to get mad about it.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_03]: But that we'll see what happens.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_00]: I will only have to offer corn.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_00]: I know what he likes corn.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_03]: We have a lot, a lot of booze as well.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: So, okay, if you're college kids, now you're probably talking.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, I was just doing.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_03]: It's a... You also got a chance to make some money in the NFL because no program sends more players to the NFL with a lower average recruiting rank than the Iowa Hawkeys.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_03]: They, we'll see how much longer that goes with Kirk Frans, but yeah.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: If you're an offensive liner, Tyden, go to Iowa.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, or honestly defense as well, they put a lot of guys in the league on the defense side.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: But if you're playing a wide receiver run.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_03]: The offense is better this season.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_03]: But it wasn't because the past game is the offensive line in the quarterback run.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, enough, I will hot guy stuff.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited for the games this weekend.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_03]: We got this might be
- 33:46[SPEAKER_03]: The best weekend of football in the entire year, given the stakes and everything and how many games we got, every single one is an island game, but you got Thursday and Friday college football semifinals and then you got games Saturday, through two Saturday, three Sunday, one Monday, I mean gosh, I can't do the work break last one more week and I could just, you know, run away on the couch, but alas money more comes in and says what would it take for VJ to stay championship ring at first round exit.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_03]: What would it take for VJ to stay would be him not doing well enough in the interviews and getting offered a job by somebody else pretty much point blank or other guys, you know, just stepping up and maybe they're not buying what BJ is selling, but I would be pretty shocked if VJ is still here, especially given this is not a home run on paper, not a home run head coach candidate cycle.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it would take basically him getting frozen out either for one reason or other interviews.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: Either teams decide to go somewhere else because of how badly he interviews or how well somebody else interviews.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, you know, so a couple, you know, surprise changes happen.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: I know that there's a lot of talk about what they want to move a guy that they're supposedly eyeballing if he gets let go or gets made available.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: you know, mentioned with him, they want to go defensive minded.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like with bringing in someone young and fresh or even sticking with the guy that they have.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the giants.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: And Vance Joseph is one that has been constantly mentioned with them.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_00]: Even more so than guys like Jesse mentor, Vance Joseph has just been so.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_00]: So even before they fire a dabble, Vance Joseph was often mentioned as that's a guy that I'm going to be looking at to replace him.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_00]: And the word is now, is that they're eyeballing the advanced Joseph head coach, Davis Web, often coordinator pairing, keeping that connection going with them if they can't convince Kafka to stick on as the offensive coordinator with the new head coach.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_03]: Well, see what happens.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_03]: There's a few, what is there three openings officially right now?
- 35:55[SPEAKER_03]: The only
- 36:01[SPEAKER_03]: Titans.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yep Titans.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll see.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: Got Mike McCarthy out there.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_03]: Stephanski out there.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_03]: Minters really highly thought of.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see about Joe Brady.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see about Clint Kubeyak, Robert Sala, as well.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_03]: He'll be an interesting one.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, keep an eye on it.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_03]: Wishing Vansos is nothing but the best.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: He wants the opportunity if it's presented to him.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not going to pull against him to
- 36:24[SPEAKER_03]: stick at a spot.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think he deserves another chance to get out there and be a be a head coach.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_03]: We got Linda coming in says I'm always worried and you know, that's okay.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_03]: That's always things to clean up and hopefully everybody is getting healthier for that Broncos team as well.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_03]: We got two or two dub coming in here.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I've let me know if I miss my house that's the Broncos second fundamentals can't catch the offense receivers or defensive backs can't tackle our quarterback couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, be a miracle flew in.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_03]: I just want to point that out and say see there are people who are more negative than me.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_03]: The fun Denver did okay with some fundamentals and this one.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_03]: I just thought it was a pretty vanilla game plan and Jesse mentor.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_03]: I had a good one and this also comes back to the my very just like basic.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: theory on football in general is if you lose up front you'll lose in the football game pretty often uh and luckily the Broncos they were so overwhelming on defense that didn't matter but Denver couldn't block him and I didn't I mean if you have tomorrow chase and Calvin Johnson other that's great uh but it's hard to do anything if you are losing up front in both past protection and run blocking so
- 37:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think that if I was King of the Broncos or whatever, it'd be like we have to have a top 10 offensive line every year and we were gonna invest in it to a point where it's like you're over investing because everything you wanna do.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_03]: revolves around the trenches in the offensive line, and the defensive line winning their match ups.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_03]: So hopefully this, that was a outlier, and it's maybe good to have the Broncos get their butt kicked, go back and watch the film, get a little healthier, and be like, man, we gotta play better.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_03]: Because this team, the identity of the offense, has been the offensive line, and when they don't play well, it looks like what we saw on Sunday.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and again, credit to Jesse Mentor for what he did, because,
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it was he was showing up front, but he had bone extensively setting the blocking the wrong way.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_00]: He had haven't set heavy to the right and the blitz would come from the left and he'd get the advantage.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know if it was, I can't remember the terminology that he used in an interview, but it's basically option blitzing is the best way I can put it where, you know, your quarterback calls one way and then you're blitz the other guy on the other side.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: The other line back or defense.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_03]: The turn for that Eric, there's like there's a word for it.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_03]: I can't think of what it's called.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: I can't either.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: I know I just watched the interview that Jess and entered to have her a talk about it.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: So that's probably what he was doing.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, it's because he's talking about how he loved it.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_00]: I would bet money.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_00]: This is what he was doing, I should say.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: because he was talking about a couple of years.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_00]: What's a mirror mirror mirror?
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: That might be it.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_00]: The mirror works.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think mirror blitzes.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: So because he loves to bait quarterbacks into it.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: So he loves to show, you know, like a heavy blitz on one side, bait them into shifting the blocking that way and then getting the one on one's on the other side.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: very which is very different than what we see in Denver where what Ben Joseph does is he tries to pull the blocking inside by showing that double a mugs and gets those one on ones with the edge rushers and he just needs to maximize off that which shout out I've been calling for more pirate stunts we saw pirates stunt from this week against justice not ended in the sack all three times they've done the season has ended in the sack so maybe they should do it a little bit more often
- 39:47[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, every defense of mind has a different way of going about it, and I'm pretty sure mirror blitz is correct.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a staple of adjusting winter defense.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think a hypo.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_03]: No, halfway, whoever the packers defense coordinator does it a lot.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: Because he's got two very fast linebackers there that are not necessarily the best against the run up the middle, but man, they can they can run.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_03]: Uncle Rico's revenge coming in here says can
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: Me, Denver's undefeated in them.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_03]: Eric, I don't think they're allowed to.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if the rules are for that, but that would be that would be great.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_03]: If they could they definitely look better.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm wearing the old school both, you know, right now, even have a blanket behind me.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_03]: That's the old school logo.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, that's where all we're all in on the.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_03]: I love the D, Eric.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_03]: You can put that on a shirt if you want.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_03]: But we got Glenn coming in.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: The degrees of the Eric.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_03]: Lee Knows Bosch should run two three times a quarter.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_03]: Do the was good to think that deliberately had Harvey run inside rather than go outside.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_03]: Power is horrible, cannot wait to big contract.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_03]: And draft a guard in the draft.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't had a chance to watch it all 22, I don't even think it's out yet, Eric, I can't speak to how powers or any individual in the offensive line played.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_03]: I thought the glinchy and minors didn't look very good on that side.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_03]: I felt like a lot of the blows up were on the right side of the line, not powers necessarily, but I couldn't tell you if powers had a good or bad game.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: He was fine.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody on the offensive line struggled.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that he was the worst offensive line man out there.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: I would probably say that he was probably one of the better ones.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_00]: When everybody out there is playing at a sea level at best, like, or sea minus, however, where you want to put it, it's tough, but Quinn miners was definitely worse.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_00]: He was just constantly getting beat, and then Mike McGlinci, man, he could not connect on a lot of his reach blocks whatsoever.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: Struggled, and it was.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: It was rough to watch McLean-Gee.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: Powers and Bulls really struggled at the start.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think the first quarter was really bad from them, and they both kind of bounce back, bulls in the second half, more so.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then powers, you know, they're late in this, I can quarter, going on to close out the game, had a couple pretty big blocks as well, for some of the runs that they did have.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think powers wasn't an issue.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: wasn't the biggest issue with the off of the line performance.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: He played well on a unit that played terrible.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they, uh, not the best from the Broncos offensive line in this one too bad, really because I thought they've had a
- 42:22[SPEAKER_03]: Good season.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they've been the identity of the offense and you know, really just couldn't get much going here.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm going to pull up the thank you Derek for the super chat here.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: He says what is the most important issues leading the division round on offense and defense offense in general.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_03]: I think everything is so connected to Eric.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_03]: I have a hard time with us and you probably I'm going to guess you're going to say the red zone offense just because of how they've been playing as of late for me.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's the
- 42:51[SPEAKER_03]: symbiotic relationship between the coverage and where the Button's Broncos can push because if you are playing like the chiefs and the chargers did and they're playing you know a lot of deep safety shells and taking away the explosives in the past game you better freaking be able to run the football period end of day you have to run them out of those shells.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: Denver has not been able to do that now.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_03]: If you're seeing much more heavy fronts along the line of skirmish and there has to be a balancing act of like when you can call it because the charters did blitz and like call them a good time to stop the run.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_03]: You just got to know what button to push what design.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_03]: when the college, et cetera, et cetera, a demo didn't do a good job on that.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_03]: But if they're playing a lot more, stop the run.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_03]: Denver needs to help in the explosives.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_03]: We have not seen them do well in general the last three, four weeks running the football or hitting the explosives in the past game.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_03]: Really sense that packer's game in general.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_03]: So it depends on what the defense does, but you either have to run the ball better if they're playing light.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_03]: or throw the ball better and hit explosives down the field, if they're playing a little bit more aggressive in their coverage in more bodies in the box.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, basically, you got to do better at the two things that change the defense the most in depending on what they're doing.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: I can get them out of that and that's run the ball or expose the place.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, again, it is what they did with what they're done on the red zone.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_00]: And part of that is because that was early on in the season, that is where the offense seemed to get it all together.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's we talked about it that there was shruggle between the 20s that when they got in the red zone the Sean Peyton played designs just carried them very a long ways and they got it done and they managed to To get it in the end zone and then over the last few weeks.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think it really started.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_00]: Not the probably.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think it really started the first.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_00]: Right about the time the defense started shrugling right around the.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_00]: The many by week or the by week is when the offense started to have that have the shuggles outside of the, you know, a game here or there, but if you're good if you're moving the ball and you're holding the ball for six plus minutes eight plus minutes and you're walking away with the field goal, it's going to be really hard to win play out football that way.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're just eating a lot of time and then you have teams like the jag wires or even the Patriots or even the bills who can hit these big explosive plays and score quickly and finish in the end zone and pairing that with Denver's inability to hit on the explosives consistently or on the run game to help lean into that it all works together.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's all
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: really.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's all related, but Denver has, it just comes out to use.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: You got to score points and field goals just aren't enough very often.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that a lot of the perception with this Broncos offense is that field goals have been enough for a lot of the season.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: In part of that has been the level of competition they played and
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: the quarterbacks that they've played in a lot of it.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_00]: They've, but six games were the starting quarterbacks.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't start or finish the full game.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: Five where they didn't start it.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: So that plays a, that plays a factor and to be able to get away with field goals a lot.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_03]: And as far as the defense goes, continuing to take away trend that we have now, one game sample size, but if they can do that, then,
- 46:17[SPEAKER_03]: We the defense goes to a different level that's been to be as good as they've been this season and to be the second lowest takeaway margin in total, I mean, if you do per game, it's probably the worst ever era because you have an extra game now so not good enough on that side, they need to take the frickin ball away that is so important I'm it's an older stat, but Brian billock was kind of one of the first in terms of some of the advanced metrics.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_03]: In football and using them, shout out to the Ravens, they've always kind of been on the forefront, even though they're out of the playoffs now, but on the forefront of a lot of like analytically approached football game management team building and he used a statistic called the toxicity differential, which was explosive plays plus turn over differential and team that wins that a lot of times wins the game.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's boring as it is, you know, if you
- 47:07[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to talk about explosive plays and take away a lot.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_03]: And on the defense, they've been pretty good at limiting the explosives.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: Now granted, if you factor in defensive pass interferences, that balloons a bit.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_03]: But the takeaways just have not been good enough.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_03]: So that's that's the key.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_03]: You got to take the friggin ball away.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was going to pair that with taking the ball away with getting pressure, like they have.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: Over, you know, starting in this game, because they kind of faulted off there after the many by week and the by week.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_00]: They kind of faulted there.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_00]: But the pressure they got, it was back up near 40% in this one.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_00]: They got the four sex.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: That with the takeaways is covered.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_00]: It can cover up a lot of the mistakes that the defense makes with their coverage miscommunications or coverage breakdowns or
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: Keep generating pressure, keep generating sacks, take in the ball away, that's what the defense needs to really focus on.
- 48:02[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_03]: I'm with you.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_03]: I saw Amy Alice was in the house.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_03]: Good to see Amy.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_03]: We got Mark coming in here.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_03]: Great to see Mark.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_03]: Of course, I saw it in here.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_03]: Where are you pearl pearl heaters in the house as well.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_03]: There we go.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_03]: Hi, hi to you, Pearl.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_03]: Appreciate you.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_03]: We do have the AFC playoff matchups here for the Broncos.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_03]: Just real quick.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: Just kind of, you know, running down because we are reaching the end of our time here.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_03]: But the Broncos first round by Hallelujah.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_03]: God bless matters so much this season.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_03]: Just I mean, Sean Payton talked about it at Nasi in the last, you know, two, three weeks about
- 48:33[SPEAKER_03]: It's avoiding that first matchup where you invite volatility and randomness that is in general football chaos sport small sample size sport random things can happen so avoiding that one game where you know you play somebody who pitches a perfect game that we can you're out that's really really important I think that's much more important and also getting a little bit healthier than
- 48:54[SPEAKER_03]: potentially getting, you know, softer off-pace with the by week.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's, that's a, that's a U problem.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_03]: If you let that happen and come out flat, where I think the injuries happening and just a random game where you get knocked off because you're gonna, other team as a perfect game or you just lay an egg, one week it happens in the NFL.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_03]: This isn't a series, right?
- 49:14[SPEAKER_03]: Where like in NBA or the NBA, best team is gonna win because you can have a bad game and still be alive and I feel it's one game, single elimination.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_03]: avoiding that is huge.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_03]: You got the chargers at the Patriots bills at Jags.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that's going to be a hell of a game.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_03]: And Texans, that's dealers.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_03]: So shout out to them.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_03]: Then we'll not be playing the Patriots or the Jags in the divisional round, but we have a chance that the chargers bills Texans to stealers.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_03]: We talked about this last Friday.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_03]: I believe Eric, you and I ranking the opponents here.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still the same.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm still the same here, overall as far as how it goes.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_03]: It'd be Steelers, I'd rather play them the most.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_03]: Fall by the chargers, then the bills, then the Texans, but bills and Texans are close.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I might have it bills and Texans flipped.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_03]: I cannot remember exactly which way it was, but if I had to guess right now, I think the Broncos have the bills coming to town.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, excuse me, I don't think the jacks are going to lose.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_03]: Pardon me, I like the bills are good, but I think the jacks are winning.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to go with the, the Texans coming to Denver.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_03]: That'll be my pick.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what I think is going to happen.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Patriots will pull it off.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Tony Jefferson helped add to the Bulletin Board material for New England for motivation, and if not them, then Denver with what?
- 50:32[SPEAKER_00]: He said after the game, walking to the locker room, I don't see the Jaguars losing to the bills.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_00]: I just, with the bills, unless Josh Allen goes super say
- 50:42[SPEAKER_00]: times 10 in that one because of how bad that defense is.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Jaguar should be able to, not necessarily have an easy one, no such thing as easy games in the playoffs, but shouldn't have too difficult at the time moving the ball against that bill's defense.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_00]: I hope this, I hope all three home teams win, just because I would love to have a shot at the Steelers.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_00]: More so than the Texans, but I think the Texans are going to be able to pull it off and that's who don't roll
- 51:12[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe a little bit crazy here on this one, but.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_03]: think I want the bills like just for like the prove it kind of game getting the monkey off the back from last season's matchup as well.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_03]: And also I would love the Jags to be eliminated with how they are playing right now across the board.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_03]: So this is going to be very much a styles make fights kind of game.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think for that six first three matchup it's a Josh Allen versus Josh Allen game.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_03]: I think the winner gets to keep their name the other one has to change it for that one.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_03]: But
- 51:43[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm honestly hoping for the, I want to play the bills.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_03]: I know they're very scary and we talked about, you know, team having a perfect game, Sean McDermott could call a perfect game for what Sean Peyton wants to do.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they've struggled to stop the run, but then we can't run the ball.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_03]: So, a lot of you do on that one.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_03]: And Josh Allen could have an absolute heater.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_03]: Also, James Cook, your NFL rushing yards later this season, but I just think that's a,
- 52:09[SPEAKER_03]: a checkpoint the Broncos need to cross this season after how they were taking the wood shed last season against the bills.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_03]: So we got that, um, I didn't want to say, just call out here.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_03]: I think this is a wrong and biased, but Joseph says, Broncos, the worst division of winners only chance they have is defense, nexus, peaked and is overrated.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_03]: Overrated is one word, uh, first off.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_03]: But the other one is, how could you say the Broncos are the worst division of winners
- 52:36[SPEAKER_03]: Malady atrocity that is the NFC south where you have the bucks beat the panthers, but the panthers get in still because the Tibericor with the falcons beating the Saints.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_03]: I mean,
- 52:48[SPEAKER_03]: Are we watching the same league?
- 52:50[SPEAKER_03]: Did the NFC South miss your miss your vantage point, Joseph?
- 52:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's a, Denver's number one seed overall and they have another team in the playoffs from the AFC West as well.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_03]: They are not even the most fraudulent team on the AFC side.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_03]: If you look at the resume only now, you can argue, you know, talent or whatever, but I think you can't say that they are.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_03]: the worst division winner when you have with the AFC North looked like this season.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_03]: Patriots only beating two 500 teams this year and again, the NFC South.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_03]: My god.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: Well, just what are we doing?
- 53:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if I saw right, this is the first time ever or some of the first time in a certain amount of time where we've had a division where every single team had a winning record and another division had every team with a losing record, then it's the north had every team with winning record and it's the south with a losing record.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, say in Denver's the worst division winner of all time when there's been some really bad division winners out there, worst division winner this year, I mean, you have the Carolina Panthers, there's been a lot of bad division winners.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's tough, but Denver, they won games.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't always pretty.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't always close.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_00]: They played down to their competition throughout the season and stuff that we all complained about.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, they have their plenty of issues, but they still won 14 games.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_00]: And that is hard to do in the NFL.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: And so, tip to them for winning 14 games and winning the division and making sure they got the top seed.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_00]: they still had to go out there and win games to do that.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, they didn't always play the toughest of opponents because of, you know, quarterbacks not planned for injury or resting or whatever the case may be or, you know, just the overall talent, but they still went out there and they still had a miracle comeback against New York Giants.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's never been done before in history.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_00]: They still had a big game on the road in Philadelphia that nobody gave them any chance at where they had to also had to come back on the fourth
- 54:48[SPEAKER_00]: say what you want, but this team found ways to get it done, and that matters.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it really does.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_03]: It does matter.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_03]: So, appreciate everybody coming in, and I thought the Patriots beat two teams about 500.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_03]: If it is only one, then the Broncos just tied them with a one game sample this last week, but maybe I'm incorrect.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_03]: They beat the bills, maybe you
- 55:09[SPEAKER_03]: the tampon out finished with above 500.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe it does only one.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_03]: That would be insane.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_03]: And typically, you don't have the schedule discrepancy, like you have in college football, but that would be crazy for this season.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_03]: But appreciate everybody.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_03]: We're gonna get on out of here.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_03]: Broncos number one seed.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that another comment in here was saying that we were being shot at the Justin said vanilla.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, didn't expect anything less when the charters announced it.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_03]: Herbert would be sitting.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_03]: I did wish they would be able to dictate a little bit more on the line of skirmish on the offense.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_03]: That wasn't really necessarily vanilla play calling.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_03]: That was losing your one-on-one matchups fairly often.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_03]: So that's one that we got to work against and Joe saying why the negativity
- 55:50[SPEAKER_03]: expect anything, but a workman approach.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if we're being negative, Joe, it was a whole-home game, and Denver went out there and did what they needed to do.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, 19 to three.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_03]: One of those red zone trips turns into a touchdown, and this is a full on blowout for the Broncos winning by 20 in this one.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_03]: So again, the defense of turnover, take away points on the board.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_03]: He went a lot of those games when it happens.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_03]: And after that, it felt like the Broncos kind of parked the bus to a certain extent.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, that's, I don't feel negative about it, but I also don't feel like, you know, totally excited jumping up and down.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_03]: You took care of business.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_03]: We have bigger fish to fry it.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_03]: the approach and the feelings in the locker room matches well, you know, acknowledge what you've done.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's good.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_03]: It's the culmination of the season and all the hard work and the off season and the team building and everything that's gotten to that point.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_03]: But that was just a, that's a checkpoint.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_03]: Now we have big fist fry.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_03]: Get ready.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_03]: Get your mind right.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_03]: Get healthy.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_03]: Take step away for a bit.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_03]: I think Denver's back in the facilities on Thursday.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_03]: This upcoming week Thursday and Friday and then they prepare like normal, um, the following week.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: I believe that's what I was I read for their approach this this by weekend big for Shafri.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_03]: It will be awesome.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_03]: They'd have one more question for you, Eric.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_03]: So number one seed when the F.C.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_03]: was the first time in a decade blah blah blah.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_03]: All great.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_03]: But would you say that this season?
- 57:14[SPEAKER_03]: Not a failure.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think failure is too hard to
- 57:22[SPEAKER_03]: one and done in the playoffs.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_03]: If they don't win this first playoff game at home, what does that mean for the season on the whole?
- 57:29[SPEAKER_00]: This is a conversation I believe you and I had earlier in this season and Carl and I had earlier in this season and I can't remember what I said then.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_00]: But I think no, I don't think if they go one and done, I don't think this is a failure.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_00]: The fact that they went 14 to three, one the way they did, got the experience and needed well still carrying the anchor of what 36 million of dead cat space just on Russell Wilson.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, still having, you know, right, 30, 35 million in salary cat space to work with after the season.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they,
- 58:01[SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot to take away from the season, whether they win right, win the first game, or lose the first game, or go one and done, or go all the way, whatever.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot to take away from this one.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think this is a failure of a season if that happens just because of that.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of young guys getting much needed experience and having the core of the defense and even the offense together for another season,
- 58:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't think that this is a failure if they go or one and done in the playoffs.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_03]: I'm with you.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_03]: It would be underwhelming to be one and done in a playoffs.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_03]: Considering a playoff win is a the next hurdle for this franchise.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, I mean, Minnesota will be great, but like winning a playoff game is a legitimate hurdle that this team has to cross.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_03]: But I think that because they got the number one seed, I'm going to kind of maybe do some ninja mind tricks on this one.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_03]: I think the goal, I mean,
- 59:01[SPEAKER_03]: is big and that's a win and because you got the number one seed you earn the right to not have to play this week and the wild card around I think if they would have gotten the wild card around let's say they lose the best yesterday and get the three seed and then lose to the bills again wouldn't say it's a failure but like that really hurts after the season but.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_03]: You already got a win you want your to wild card match up already because you got the one seed so.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_03]: Feel a little bit better about that and we'll see who it is and.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's just great to be here and then join what this team has been this season and really appreciate it.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, obviously, it's not a perfect team.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_03]: I was Eric, if we'd have been doing the show in 2013, you and I, probably, have been pitching about the defense and the offensive line for that Broncos as they put up 50 points a game or 2015, doubting them because the offense was unbelievably dreadful.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_03]: That's what it's like.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's not what I was doing this during those years.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_03]: But it like a live stream kind of thing.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what we're going to do in live stream.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, different era 10 years ago, but overall it's been a heck of a ride this season and another victory Monday.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully not our last one this season, but what a great year it's been so much fun.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_03]: And really putting, I mean, if you want to call me a doubter as well, that I was a doubter to some extent, I think I had them getting 11 wins this season to beat that by three.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_03]: very much jury out on Bonix.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_03]: We'll have a plenty of time to talk about what this season means for him long-term as the season closes the long, boring, dreadful offseason, especially after the the draft comes and goes.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_03]: But those are things we don't have to get into yet.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_03]: All we know right now is
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_03]: And boy, they got as good of a chance as anybody in the AFC because of where they're at, going to be healthy and having every game at home, shout out to the Broncos fans in the stadium, super loud, super energetic despite, you know, kind of a...
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_03]: underwhelming opponent with everybody playing at Stargers, they stood up and lost their voices for this team.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_03]: So really, really good game for the fans and nobody wants to be coming to Denver.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm hoping that we get a little bit of cold and ice.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe coming up here for some of these games.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_03]: Appreciate and jury on on next.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'm at like entering the season, Justin, sorry, I was not clear enough.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_03]: As soon as I said, I'm like, I need to come back and make that clearer.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_03]: But that's a, yeah, overall, great season.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just got a great season for the Broncos, great season for all them.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_00]: Super happy for them, even exceeded my expectations.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I had them go on 13 and four, which, hey, I still remember exactly who it was.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_00]: You, those of you in chat that were making fun of me after the one and two start.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_00]: I remember who you are.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_00]: Who was right now?
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_00]: It was me the burners probably was I know how you are with those burners tired of getting those DMs from you on your burners on Twitter, but also I want to reiterate something that Chad said Friday night when I was doing that show with him.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_00]: I am also super happy for unique for Lance, for Carl, for Dylan, for all of you guys.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_00]: You guys weren't here when Denver was even in your hair for the playoff I'm not sure, but you weren't here for that 2015 season, you weren't part of MHH and a lot of people in the chat also weren't here.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_00]: During that time for that, and so I'm happy for you guys that you guys get to experience this Obviously back then we weren't doing the live shows.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't even doing podcast at the time But I was still covering the team.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_00]: I was still part of it.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_00]: May change.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_00]: I was doing a lot of written content
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_00]: and I remember the joy and the fire lit under me and all that and just being able to cover the team that you love as they go through and hopefully make a run.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the time hasn't held but to get back to the number one see it glad you all are here part of this and get to experience that all together.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_03]: Heck yeah.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_03]: Heck yeah.
